i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.

as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."

NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING

I see a lot of posts saying "teach boys about consent".

While that is true, a lot of parents will do that and fail to see how their own actions are the problem.

If you've spanked him, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've forced him to sit on Santa's lap, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've forced him to give hugs and kisses to family members, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've grabbed him in order to force him to sit still, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've labeled him as "too sensitive" for not wanting to be touched, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've assumed he's okay with something because he technically allowed it even though he felt pressured, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you're only going to criticize his actions but not your own, it won't work.

I just wanna say, how much I loved this episode for Mateo, and for Mateo and Nancy's relationship. We haven't seen much of it since they began dating, (and while I respect that it is an ensemble show, I do want to see more of my babies) and what we have so far seen is very surface-level and happy-go-lucky. This shows that the two of them are more than that, that they have arguments and aren't always on the same page. It shows they have issues to work through as a couple and secrets to share, and I love that.

Mateo having accidentally lit a school on fire is pretty on brand to an extent, however I feel that Marvin was played too goody-goody cause while I know he was supposed to be the 'good child', be also was someone who still would've had a mischievous side as a kid.

I think the episode was a good one for us to learn about Mateo. And I can't wait for a Nancy episode.

Also, Judd baby! Your gonna be a Papa and that is fucking adorable. I love that. I can't wait for that. I'm also super stokef that Wyatt is back and seems to have a more permanent fixture on the show if they keep him in the acadamy.

All in all, I love myself a good Judd and Mateo episode.
