30 Day Movie Challenge Day 9: A movie that you know practically the whole script of - Back to the Future (1985)
I’ve watched this film and its sequels numerous times throughout my existence, and I enjoy it every single time. When I first watched Back to the Future as a child, I instantly fell in love with and I love and appreciate it even more now as an adult. Due to the fact I’ve watched this movie so many times (I’ve lost count), I practically memorized most of the dialogue. The film has so many memorable and funny lines, it’s not that hard to remember. Who can forget Doc Brown's signature expression “Great scotts” or Marty’s “this is heavy”?
Imagine how the story of an average 1980s teenager, an eccentric scientist, and a time-traveling DeLorean sports car became one of the most memorable science fiction films of all time. Traditional science fiction involves elements of robots, aliens, spaceships, unknown planets, and other futuristic characteristics but for me, a truly great sci-fi film takes those aspects and use them to explore more realistic themes such as love, friendship, humanity, and the nature of the world around us. Besides, it has one of the most unforgettable soundtracks in film history. The main theme is easily recognizable and Marty’s performance of Chuck’s Berry Jonny B. Goode was marvelous.
It’s amazing to see how young generations are familiar with this film and my 6-year daughter has now become a fan of this incredible film series. We enjoy watching together.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 8: A movie that makes me sad - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008)
I'm crying as I'm writing this blog. I seriously need some tissue.
I admit that I’m a sensitive person. I easily cry when watching certain movies, and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was one of them.
Bruno, the German boy, and Shmuel, the imprisoned Jewish boy, didn’t allow their racial and religious differences to come between them. Instead, they formed a strong friendship.
The Holocaust was responsible for the deaths of over six million Jews, whose only crime was being of a different race. Other groups of people such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Black Germans, the Roma, Soviet civilians, and Poles were also victims of this evil atrocity committed by Nazi Germany.
The principal message of this film is heartwarming but horrific at the same time. The story shows that even in the worst cases of prejudice and discrimination, people can still find the best in each other. We should never let our ignorance stop us from treating every single person with respect and kindness.
God created one race: the human race. Man was the one who created racism. We should have compassion for one another.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 7: A movie that makes me happy - The Wizard of Oz (1939)
I have so many fond memories associated with this timeless classic. Just the mere mention of this movie can spawn a stream of beautiful images and memorable scenes that are forever imprinted in my memory. I have probably watched this film a million times but it always puts a smile on my face. Who could forget Dorothy’s ruby slippers, the dancing Scarecrow, the cowardly lion, and most of all the Wicked Witch of the West? Even though this film was released way back in 1939, the storyline is enduring and it contains many invaluable life lessons that never grow old no matter the time period. It teaches us the importance of family and friendship, perseverance, and the clear difference between what is good and evil. It doesn't matter whether you're 8 or 80 years old, this film is for all ages. It’s a movie the entire family can enjoy together.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 6: My favorite comedy film - Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
Note: I was supposed to be on Day 7 for my 30 Day movie challenge, but I got so busy yesterday I didn’t have time to even open my Tumblr. It’s time for me to speed things up and get writing.
There have been numerous comedy films that have made me laughed so hard over the years, but Good Morning, Vietnam was the one that had a tremendous impact on me. This film has a well-proportioned combination of hyperenergetic comedy and touching drama where it showcased the remarkable acting talent of Robin Williams.
He had the ability to perform comedy and drama simultaneously. When he was in the DJ’s booth doing his early morning broadcasts, he made me laugh so hard that it was difficult to stop sometimes. Aside from being a military DJ, he was also an English teacher to a group of Vietnamese students. He’s the kind of teacher anyone would love to have in their class. His hilarious and unorthodox teaching style made him special. Honestly, this film was one of the reasons I became an English teacher and why I became fascinated with the nation of Vietnam. I fell in love with Vietnam, despite the fact I have never been there before. It is my dream to travel there one day. Nowadays, I teach English as a second language to Vietnamese students online. If I want a good laugh, Good Morning, Vietnam is my go-to film.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 5:  My favorite drama film - Rocky (1976)
There are so many drama films that I like but the one that stands out the most is the original Rocky film from 1976. It’s a heartwarming story about an underdog boxer who is considered a bum by society who is given a million to one shot to fight the heavyweight champion of the world. For Rocky, it’s not about obtaining fame or fortune - it’s about going the distance. Another aspect I love about this film is how the story is focused on Rocky and Adrian’s relationship. This is not a typical sports drama. It’s actually a captivating love story with a backdrop of boxing. Their romance is unusual and awkward, but it’s sweet and inspiring. They were two outsiders who found strength and comfort in one another. Although Rocky doesn’t win against Apollo Creed at the end, when Rocky and Adrian declared their love for each other after the match - that’s what I consider being the real victory.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 4: My favorite horror movie - Psycho (1960)
This was extremely difficult for me to answer because I don’t like horror movies. I rather watch an adrenaline-pumping action film or a historical drama film. When I watch a movie, I want to be entertained or inspired, not scared. Horror movies terrify me and cause me to wake up in the middle of the night because of nightmares.
I’ve known about the classic horror film Psycho for many years now, but I was able to watch the entire film on Netflix last year. I’m a big fan of classic movies, so I decided to conquer my fear of horror movies and watch the film from beginning to end. I have to say, Pscyho is a masterpiece. This film was so ahead of its time. The movie can resonate with fans of all film genres because of its gripping and suspenseful plot built upon the backs of interesting characters with depth.
I believe this the perfect horror film for people like me who hate horror films in general.

We need to be kind to our bodies, gentle with our minds and patient with our hearts.
Self-love is never selfish.
gentle reminders in case you need it:
it’s ok to start “late”
drink water if you haven’t for hours
it’s ok if u need more time than other people
it’s ok to feel what you’re feeling
you have a cute smile
you make people happy
you have plenty of good traits
you are loved
you deserve all the good things
it’s ok if you relapse, it doesn’t make u weak
bad days are just temporary
tomorrow is a new day
you can heal again
I’m proud of you

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 3: My favorite action/adventure movie - Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely love the Indiana Jones film franchise (except the last one) despite the fact I wasn’t even born yet when the first film came out. Dr. Jones is the ultimate adventurer - he’s ruggedly handsome, intelligent, funny, and physically capable. Who can forget his iconic hat and whip? I like the fact that Indiana Jones has flaws and vulnerabilities: that’s what makes him real. The audience can empathize with him more because of his human nature. He doesn’t have any superpowers, nor he is trained in the art of espionage. He’s just like the rest of us. I can honestly say he is one of the bravest cinematic characters in history. He’s admired by men and adored by women.

God is undoubtedly greater than we are and that is why we must submit and worship Him. We must live our lives for His glory. He absolutely deserves it for what He has done for us.

30 Day Movie Challenge  Day 2: The last movie I watched - Jurassic Park (1993)
This movie terrified me as a child but I enjoy watching it now as an adult. When I saw it was available on Netflix, I immediately added it to my watch list and streamed it. It was wonderful watching the film all over again in HD. Despite the fact this movie was made back in 90′s when CGI was in it’s infancy, the special effects were fantastic and they don’t look outdated.

30 Day Movie Challenge  Day 1: My favorite movie - Forrest Gump (1994)
No matter how many times I watch this movie, I always enjoy watching Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks brought to life one of the most endearing characters in movie history. I’ve learned a lot of great life lessons from this film, but the one that I’m going to mention is that intelligence isn’t everything. Forrest was a humble country boy from Alabama who grew up to become an important international figure. He achieved so much in his life without having a high IQ. This proves that someone who doesn’t have it can still be a kind and lovable person, just like Forrest.

I’ve always wanted to the 30 Day Movie Challenge. I remember trying to do it on Facebook a few years ago, but I never finished it because I didn’t have time for it. Now, I’m going to start my own here on Tumblr. I want to share with others the movies I love, the movies that inspire me, and even the movies that I wasn’t impressed with.
Time for me to get started.
