Day Twenty-Three - Train @sapphicmicrofics
April Daily Series - 563 words
<<<Previous Part OR Start Here
“What’s this?” Marlene’s voice was directly behind her now. She’d apparently grown tired of sifting through the box of memories and moved on to the corkboard beside Dorcas’s bed.
Dorcas released a stream of smoke through the window. “What does it look like?
“Pandora called it a ‘shrine.’”
The harsh scoff clipped Dorcas’s throat on the way out. “Then it’s an awfully shitty shrine.”
Marlene hummed a note of disagreement, but didn’t argue. She was far less combative today, which should have been suspicious, but Dorcas didn’t have the energy to defend herself. The tension she’d carried since Marlene’s arrival wore her down.
“I miss my old number. The team gave it to someone else when I left Scotland. I’m number thirty now.”
Dorcas tried to ignore the tug of nostalgia. She’d spent so many hours behind protective glass watching her girlfriend’s #14 jersey with rapt attention, clocking every shift in her stance and clawing back the urge to rush onto the ice to protect her when the other team crowded her net. Often, she left games with scratches on her chest from blindly grappling for Marlene’s lucky charm, an Irish claddagh ring from her grandmother that she wore around her neck.
“Thirty is a solid number,” Dorcas said, idly tapping her cigarette out the window. “Especially doubled on your jersey, front and back. It’s related to career success.”
“Really? That’s good to know.”
Marlene moved closer and plopped on the bench. “Be honest with me, Cas. Do you want me to step on that train tomorrow? Will you miss me?”
“My feelings won’t change the outcome, so why does it matter?” Dorcas asked.
“You don’t know that.”
Dorcas flicked the dying cherry off of her cigarette and rolled the filter between her fingers. “I know that you won’t leave your team and long-distance doesn’t work. I know that you run when it hurts. Nothing has changed.”
“A few things have changed, actually. My team went recreational. We have scrimmages, but don’t compete. My gigs are mostly at local clubs, but I travel a bit too. I have a show in London in two weeks,” Marlene said, shifting closer. “I can send you tickets, if you want.”
“And the cowardice?” Dorcas prompted. “Still fleeing if it’s hard? I haven’t gone soft since you left.”
Marlene sighed theatrically. “I should hope not. I always liked your sharp wit and pointy elbows.”
“Hilarious.”
Charming, as always. I wish she’d stop.
“I’m here now, Cas. If I didn’t bolt out of here when you told me off the first night and I didn’t run after making a complete arse of myself yesterday morning, isn’t that proof that I’m not quite the coward I used to be?”
Dorcas rested her temple against the window and closed her eyes. The cold glass tempered her frustration a bit as she returned her attention to the people below. She preferred this distance over the six inches between her hip and Marlene’s. From here, she could see the bigger picture and remain an unbiased observer. In this room, she was a reluctant participant and couldn’t find a shred of objectivity.
“I suppose that is progress,” Dorcas admitted, her gaze trailing a couple across the street. They were holding hands and smiling at each other.
“Enough progress?” Marlene asked. “For you to think about it? About us?”
“I’ll think about it.”

The Salt & The Sea
Rated E | One Shot | 35k | narlily
“I thought I warned you what would happen should you keep following me?” comes a hiss that makes Lily’s hair rise on end.
“I recall well enough,” Lily laughs. “I simply chose not to heed the warning of a pirate.”
A dark chuckle. The sword trails a line over the back of Lily’s neck, eliciting a shiver that runs the length of her body, the blade then slipping down her shoulder before settling just above her sternum.
Lightning flashes illuminating her captor from behind as their eyes lock.
In a land overrun by raiders, ruffians and the all-around dastardly, Commander Lily Evans comes face to face with the myth, the legend, dread pirate Narcissa Black, third and most lethal daughter of the scourge of the Seven Seas, otherwise known as the Black Hǫnd.
A fight to the death aboard Narcissa’s ship ends when the two are rudely swept overboard. Now, stranded on a deserted island, they must look back at their tumultuous (and rather titillating) past in order to face a future that’s closing in around them.
Double-crossing, steamy beach-side rendevouz, magical flowers, excess of roguishness and starry-eyed dreamers.
Prompt from @marauders-sapphics spring fling: A pirate hunter falls in love with a pirate!

butterflies (inside & out) — chapter one sapphic spring fling 2024, prompt: bugs & insects | @marauders-sapphics pandalily, 1/?, 3.2k, T -> muggle hs au, fluff, light angst
Lily didn't care for love. She believed it existed, sure, but it wasn't something she ever saw in her future. Even if she did, she was far too focused on her future to waste time on high-school romance.
Pandora was in the year below her and ran a gardening club that consisted mainly of only herself and occasionally her twin brother. Lily couldn't help but find herself drawn to her, despite her peculiarities.
A story of self-discovery, societal expectations of love, and bug facts.

Dorlene snippet I've been sitting on:
“Dorcas,” Marlene swallowed, “what are you?”
The girl grinned and something vicious and deadly and so very sexy flashing across her face as red lighting reflected on pearly whites. The girl leaned in close, much closer than needed, looming over Marlene despite the mere three inch difference the two had, and Marlene's head began to spin. Her hand reached out, resting on the back of Marlene’s neck and she could smell her perfume, something vaguely floral, not too sweet with a faint kick of spice.
“I’m a siren, Marls,” she said, her face so close that Marlene felt her breath on her lips. “I sing, seducing sailors and pirates to their painful death.” Dull nails lightly scraped the nape of her neck and Marlene was sufficiently entranced. Three inches of air was the only thing standing between them and Marlene doing something stupid, like making a scene at Regulus Black’s Halloween Bash. “What are you?”
Marlene blinked, her mind scrambling to figure out an appropriate response to what the girl just said. Marlene was many things; single, gay, very horny and confused as to why she wasn’t already making out with the girl that was so very close to her who she has been in love with since she was thirteen. The light on Dorcas’ face shifted from red to orange and Marlene remembered they were at a party, a halloween one to be exact. “I am a pirate,” she finally said, not sure of exactly how long it had taken her to say something but aware that it was probably too long if Dorcas’ smirk was anything to go by.
“Like Keira Knightely,” the girl asked. Marlene nodded dumbly, staring at the black painted lips with rapt attention. “Hot. I’ve always had a thing for blonde pirates.” And with that she leaves, getting lost in a sea of bodies and leaving Marlene to figure out what the fuck just happened.
The music changes to something vaguely halloween-y and Lily and Mary walk over. “What was that,” Lily asks immediately, handing a drink to the flushed girl.
“I think she’s trying to kill me,” Marlene mumbles before taking a sip of a drink that’s sickeningly sweet, its sugar coating her teeth. She downs it with ease.
“Well to me it looked like she was five seconds away from fucking you in the bathroom but what ever you say,” Mary says, taking a sip of her own drink before her eyes light up. “You want to know what the French call an orgasm? ‘La petite mort’ a little death. So maybe we’re both right Marls.”

Day Four - Soccer @sapphicmicrofics
April Daily Series - 533 words
<<<Previous Part OR Start Here
Dorcas hadn’t planned on violently strangling her best friends today, but plans changed. Especially when said best friends “surprised” her with the sudden appearance of her ex-girlfriend. Her former best friends, she amended.
The anger surging through her veins was as multifaceted as the crystals Pandora piled high in a bowl on the table at her side. A painted clay bowl that she’d repurposed without Dorcas’s permission. A bowl that they handmade on her and Marlene’s first date at a pottery shop that was inscribed with their initials on the bottom, as well as a message that Dorcas hadn’t seen until later. Far too late.
For D.M., my future wife and MILF. - M.M.
“D-Dorcas?” Marlene choked out. She dropped her backpack on the floor with a thud that was coincidentally timed with her jaw falling open in shock.
Dorcas inhaled deeply and closed her eyes as she wrapped her arms around her own waist and squeezed. This was the worst possible time for a reunion. Her emotions were surface level after a week of texts with Pandora about Marlene. She should have known the little menace would facilitate a “surprise” like this after goading her for days to come to Wales.
“McKinnon,” she said flatly.
Marlene frowned and the deep crease between her brows nearly undid Dorcas’s restraint. No one affected her like this. No one, except Marlene.
“Right, well,” Lily said, swinging her arms anxiously. “Now that we all know each other…why don’t the rest of us give you some space?”
Before Dorcas could protest the forced proximity, Lily dragged Pandora into the hallway with a flurry of whispers and hand gestures. When she glanced at Marlene again, she wasn’t surprised to find her pouting with her arms crossed over her chest. Using her surname was a last ditch effort to distance herself. Dorcas knew Marlene hated it.
“Really, Dorcas? Don’t you ‘McKinnon’ me like I haven’t spent literal hours with my face between your thighs?” Marlene retorted, shaking her head in disbelief. “I still remember how you taste. What the fuck?”
Dorcas straightened her spine and lifted her chin defiantly. “You made it very clear that we weren’t friends when you left, McKinnon. Don’t expect me to treat you like one now.”
“You were the one who broke up with me!”
“And? You left the fucking country!” Dorcas defended. Her fingers gripped the sides of her shirt to keep from reaching for Marlene. It was all she could do to hold back her traitorous body. Already, her mind reeled from the memories of soft skin and secret smiles.
Marlene’s bright blue eyes flashed with anger. “I had to! If I wanted to play hockey without constant harassment, then I had to go back home! I can’t just find a team around every corner, like with soccer.”
Good. Anger, I can handle.
“And if you wanted me, you would have stayed,” Dorcas snapped.
She stalked past her and into the hallway. Ignoring the frantically whispering couples gathered there, she entered her bedroom and slammed the door behind her. The loud vibrations of the wood door against the frame was oddly satisfying.
I am going to murder Pandora in her sleep!
