On Wednesday 18th November at 9:30am my waters broke. I went to the hospital just to get everything checked where the midwives confirmed my waters had definitely broke. Come 11:30am I was given the option to go home and wait or to stay. Since I wasn't experiencing any contractions yet I decided to go home. Upon reaching the car in the car park my contractions start. Extremely painful and within 2 minutes of each other. I decided to still head home as I wasn't sure how long labour would be as I've heard for first time mothers it can be longer than 24 hours.
I managed to drive into town to get food for lunch which my partner prepared for me once getting home. Which I was unable to eat due to the constant pain I was in.
Come 12:30pm, I had enough and decided to head back in. As my partner didn't have hid licence we had organised things with his parents however they went to Perth before my waters broke that morning so I had to pull my dad away from work to come take us.
By the time I was back at the hospital I was only 2cm dilated and decided to try the shower/bath pain management methods. To me personally, this only helped a lil. Come 4:30pm, I was only 4cm dilated but my contraction were barely a minute apart so I asked for the epidural which I received at 5pm.
The epidural was something I have always been afraid of, however I am so glad that I decided to get it because it made the next few hours much more manageable and relaxing.
However, midwives and my OB soon realised that I had an extremely high heart rate and it wouldn't go down. Theu decided to preform at ECG just to make sure there was nothing serious and to monitor me from there. Nothing came of the ECG, however my heart rate remained high.
At 11pm, my heart rate was still high and my temperature was also starting to peak. This alerting them to a possible infection starting, they put me on antibiotics just in case and were preparing me for a blood test to check. However were hoping that I was at 10cm, before they got everything organised so they didn't need to do it.
Come 11:30pm, I was finally at 10cm dilated and it was time to push. My midwives were happy to not do the blood test but accidentally miscalculated and didn't stop the epidural in time so I was unable to feel my contractions at first to know when to push.
They tried 4 different positions to help bub down the birth canal and as the epidural wore off I needed pain meds. It is a whole different world of pain. They turned the gas up and gave me the tube to breath through. This only helped take the edge off of things once I started feeling everything. I wanted to give up so many times, however I knew that there was no way to stop the pain other than pushing through the pain and delivering this baby.
Due to baby taking it's time and me having trouble pushing bub out my OB decided that a vacuum was needed to help me. She gave me the challenge of beating her to it, which I tried my hardest to do.
I am proud to say that I did beat her! The second my OB did the episiotomy cut, I managed to push bub out where a whole new lot of excitement filled the birth wards.
Throughout the pregnancy I was told there was a 98% chance that my baby was a girl. So everyone in the room was prepared for a baby girl to come out. However the child nurse grabbed the baby and was like "congrats it's a boy" before taking him onto the table for his checks. All the midwives and my OB stopped mid action to ask for the child nurse to repeat what was said. This then became a massive laugh however I am greatful my partner and I had picked out a male and female name.
So on the 19th November at 1:16am weighing 3.57kg and measuring 54cm long.
Sebastian John Hayward was born โค๏ธ

I feel like a lot of people don't talk about it and if they do, I haven't seen it much.
The comparison photos are from when I first found out (March) to when I was 29/30 weeks (September)
Then the third and final photo is from 35 weeks (October)
Honestly my body has changed so much. At first I hated it and hated the changes my body was going through. As someone who has always looked down on their weight and was constantly bought down for "being too fat".
But now looking back on the whole experience, I'm greatful for what my body went through and the human it created.

First picture was a day before I had Sebastian.
Second picture less than 24 hours after I had Sebastian.
Its honestly amazing how far my body has come. How far my mental health and thoughts towards my own skin/body has come.
I'm greatful for what my body has been through because I got the greastest gift of all out of it โค๏ธ
