synopsis : Sephiroth and you have a calm night
Tumblr media
Sephiroth was different when he was with you, vulnerable and gentle. His calloused yet soft hands gingerly touched your body as if you were a delicate porcelain doll he was afraid he’d break. His lips were soft but always slightly chapped—you never minded though. He was everything you ever dreamed of. To the world he was a hero—the greatest SOLIDER to ever live but to you he was Sephiroth your boyfriend. Though these days you were seeing less and less of the silver haired SOLIDER, as you focused your on your career as a journalist and he was preoccupied with more and more assignments.
Tonight was like any other night you sat in your cubical typing away on the keyboard rapidly your eyes glued to the computer screen. A tap came from behind you, your coworker Danny poking his head into your cube. He smiled warmly, “Damn _______, you’re still here? Actually don’t answer that I’m not surprised. Anyways I’m heading out for the night, some of us are gonna hit up the bar. You joining us?” He asked. You sighed leaning back in your chair outstretching your arms and popping your fingers, “No I don’t think so. I’ve gotta get this piece written and published by Thursday.” You sighed in slight frustration. Danny laughed, “So you have a week still. What’s the rush?” He mused. You shrugged, “Just want to perfect it is all. Don’t worry I’ll close the office, you all go on ahead.” You smiled before returning to your computer. Your coworker shrugged and wishing you a goodnight before leaving the office. Not soon after their departure the lights had went off, signaling it was after hours, only the dim emergency lights illuminated your small office.
You weren’t sure when you had fallen asleep but you were suddenly startled awake by the sound of footsteps approaching your cube. “______, you’re still here?” A familiar deep voice asked just as they round the corner of your cube. Your eyes widened in disbelief when you saw him. He was dressed so casually, in a simple black turtle neck and black slacks, his hair pulled back in a loose low pony tail. “S-Seph…” you stammered. He smiled softly nodding, “I tried calling your cellphone but it kept going straight to voicemail then I tried your apartment and you weren’t there. So i assumed you stayed over at the office.” He said, “You really shouldn’t be staying over past your regular work hours.” He scolded half heartedly. You nodded quickly spinning around in your chair saving your work before shutting the computer off. You began to gather your things that were strewn about half haphazardly. Sephiroth only watched in amusement, he reached out grabbing your purse and lunch bag, “Let’s go.” He motioned with his hand.
You stepped outside the Shinra building the cold breeze nipping your bare face. You shivered bringing your arms close to your chest. Though Sephiroth didn’t seemed phased in the slightest he only chuckled, “I parked out front let’s hurry before you catch a cold.” He said as he reached out interviewing your hands. His hands were always cold but they were comforting. You nodded following after him as he lead you to his luxury car. The streets of Midgar at this hour were always so silent, it was always strange to see such a bustling city be so still. Sephiroth opened the passenger door of the black car once you were in he shut the door and placed your belongings in the back seat before finally he began to drive.
The drive back to your apartment was a comfortable silence. You leaned your head against the window watching sleepily the streetlights and homes you passed by. Quiet jazz from a local radio station playing over the speakers along with the the soft humming from the car. You lived in a poorer more dangerous part of the Upper Plates, it wasn’t as nice as Sephiroth’s home but its was comfy enough for you. “I can’t believe you live here ______. I wish you would just stay at my place when I’m not here. It would make me feel better.” He said as he pulled into a spot in front of the apartment complex. You simply shrugged as you unclamped your seatbelt. “You know why I can’t do that.” You mumbled in reply as you stepped out of the car. You quickly grabbed your bags from the back seat and rejoined the silver hair SOLIDER’s side. “Come on let’s hurry before anyone sees us.” You whispered walking ahead of him and quickly into the complex.
Finally you arrived back at your apartment and you swiftly quicker off your heels and tossed your keys on the front entrance table. You didn’t even bother placing your bags back on the wall hook and instead tossed them onto the floor. Sephiroth watched your with gentle eyes as he followed your lead. “Want anything to drink?” He asked walking towards the kitchen. He grabbed the dark red wine that sat in the counter and effortlessly pulled the cork out before pouring a glass. “Hmm?” He asked raising a brow outstretched hand holding the freshly poured glass. You shrugged, “Yeah sure. It’s been a long day Seph.” You said gratefully accepting that glass. The wine was bittersweet but it’s just the way you like it. “Ahhh…” you breathed flashing your lover a smile.
“It can be exhausting writing constant propaganda for Shinra. I don’t understand why you don’t become independent dear, you have the talent.” He said in between sips of wine. Rolling your eyes you made your way over to the couch promptly flopping down onto it though careful to not spill your wine. “I wasn’t writing propaganda. I was actually writing about how Shinra has been doing charity work in the lower plates.” You retorted a proud smirk on your lips. Sephiroth chuckled joining you on the plush grey couch you owned that definitely was not your style. “Soo…propaganda?” He smirked playfully. “N-no it’s not—“ you stammered desperately trying to defend yourself. He only laughed more, “I’m teasing. I enjoy seeing you get so flustered. It’s cute.” He purred cooly taking another sip of wine. “But you do know Shinra is only doing ‘charity’ just to look better to the public. But regardless…it’s a nice thing to do. Just don’t fall for their lies is all I ask ______.” He said. You nodded slowly, “I know. But I actually have something else to ask you. Why were you gone for so long this time?” You asked your eyes watery as you gazed into his intense green ones. Sephiroth made a face, it was one mixed with pain and uncomfortableness but he quickly masked it replacing his expression with a neutral one.
“Wutai had a lot more holdouts than we expected that’s all. I tried to call as often as I could.” He replied gently trying to explain the situation. You frowned hanging your head as you gazed at the red liquid in the glass. “It was three months this time.” You whispered. Your relationship with Sephiroth was one that was in secret; per his wish. He said it was to protect you but these days your relationship felt so distant after four years you wanted to take your relationship further but duty called. You wanted a family and to not be in a secret relationship with him, you wanted to be able to hold his hand walking down the street, run errands around Midgar with him but you couldn’t. A gentle hand caressing your cheek caused you snap out of your self loathing. Sephiroth brushed a strand of hair out of your face and used his finger to move your chin to look up at him. “After the war I promise we can begin our lives together. So for now wait for me for a little longer, would you ______?” He said a hint of pleading desperation laced in his voice. The last thing Sephiroth wanted to happen was for him to lose his only sense of joy and comfort. You nodded your head softly smiling, “Okay I’ll wait. Buuuttt just for a little longer.” You giggled leaning over to place a kiss on his lips which he gladly returned.
You nestled your way in between his legs and rested against his chest. The sound of the television playing in the background fading away as you drifted to sleep. Sephiroth’s heart beat was strange but it was so comforting.
I can wait forever for you Sephiroth….you thought before finally falling asleep.

Satoru this. Satoru that. Ever since the accident it was him who had been by your side not Gojo. Him. It was him who brought you gifts everyday. It was him who saved your life not Gojo. But for some reason Suguru didn't mind though, seeing your face light up was enough for him. Just seeing you alive was enough. "Oh you're back! ______, is in her room as always. She's up and walking though today." The nurse at the front desk chimed when she spotted the dark haired man. Suguru flashed her a smile and waved, "That's great news to here. Thank you for all your hard work." He bowed before getting into the elevator to make his way up to your room. At this point all the nurses and doctors were familiar with him. He was the one who always was here the minute visitation hours opened all the way until they closed. He carried a paper bag full of treats and the blind boxes of trinkets you loved so much. "Hello! You just be Gojo! ______, has been so excited to see you today to show you her progress." A male nurse said as he stepped out of your room.
Suguru swore a vein had burst, his eyes twitched as he smiled politely at the man. "No I'm Suguru...Geto." He said through gritted teeth. The man's face flushed in embarrassment, "Oh sorry I must of misheard the name. We'll have a good day sir!" The man bowed his head before rushing off. Sighing he opened the door where he saw you walking back and forth albeit with a limp. "Satoru!" You chimed as you turned to face the door when you saw Suguru you still smiled warmly, "Oh hey Suguru! I was wondering if you were going to come today." You said excitedly making your way towards him.
It made him happy to see you walking about, after your accident against an over powered cursed spirit he was afraid he'd never see you walk again. "Of course I come everyday ______." He smiled warmly, Unlike Satoru. setting down the paper bag; he hadn't realized how tightly he had been holding it until he relaxed his fingers. You rummaged through the bag excitedly pulling out the blind boxes he had gotten you. Suguru watched with adoration as you opened each box. You looked so cute and happy; why couldn't you look at him like that? As you two spoke about your day you then asked the same question you always did, "Why doesn't Satoru come visit?" You asked frowning.
A pang shot through him, "Satoru's been very busy is all he hasn't had a free moment. But I'm here, isn't that good enough?" He gave you a pained smile. You hummed, "Mhm of course it is. I love you Suguru you're my best friend." You said happily as you have him a side hug, squeezing his arm. When you had said those three words it made him the happiest man on earth but once he came down from his euphoria he became saddened knowing it was only platonic. Once the visitation hours had ended Suguru gave you a hug goodbye and left you for the night—god it hurt to leave your side.
This had been his routine for a couple months now visiting you buying you gifts so when he received a call that you had fallen ill and it wasn't looking good; he left everything and instantly went to your side. He ran through the hospital's long corridors until he eventually was at your room. He slammed open the door, doctors at your side. So many needles stuck into your delicate skin. His breathing was heavy he no doubt looked like a mad man. A doctor turned to face him, a grim expression on his old face. "You're the boy who visits her every day right? Geto? She's given us permission to talk about her medical issues so let's step into the hall and talk." The man said and Geto followed.
He nearly fainted when he heard the news; an infection they claimed was impossible to catch until it was too late it had spread. It was only a matter of time until you passed away and it seemed like you were giving up. The doctor urged him to go see you before you fell asleep once again. So he did, he held your hand at your side rubbing his thumb gently over the IV needle that had been stuck into your hand. You had looked completely different—so sickly and tired. "S...Suguru." You said weakly. "Y-yes ______." He stammered, eyes wide.
You smiled weakly at him, your expression was soft yet he sensed a guilt behind your eyes. "I was so lucky to have you by my side. I feel so stupid for not seeing it earlier...I didn't deserve to have you. I realize now it was always you. I'm sorry for causing you pain...Sug." You said weakly giving his hand a squeeze. He shook his head, "It's okay don't apologize ______." He said softly. You hummed in reply closing your eyes, "I just wish Satoru would visit me..." you mumbled.
That was the last time Suguru ever heard your voice, you'd fallen into a coma. He continued visiting until one day he couldn't.

Satoru Gojo a well respected and feared warlord, tales that he was the strongest samurai and curse user to ever live followed in his wake. But he was also known as a womanizer, anyone woman would dream to get his attention even if for a few moments. But to you, he was Lord Gojo your employer you couldn't even fathom ever receiving his a glance from him so you chose to not pay attention to those types of things.  You had been working as a servant—maid at the Gojo castle ever since you were nine years old; sold to pay off your family's debt despite you being an orphan from the countless battles that always raged on. But you didn't mind, the castle was nice the Gojo clan treated their staff well so you didn't mind living here after all this was really the only place you've ever known. You sat on the indoor patio overlooking the garden, humming softly to yourself embroidering a dress that you had been working on for a few months now. It was when you heard a commotion and out came from around the corner an older servant lady she looked angered, "I'm over that child !______! You take care of him. He has no manners unlike his sister!" She shouted storming towards you. You raised a brow, "Huh Miss Yoko...what are you talking about?" You asked eying her curiously. "Fushiguro—Megumi. He's ill-behaved I refuse to take care of him anymore plus he seems to like you more. I'm going to talk to Lady Ieiri, go see if you can handle him." She ordered as she stomped away. You sighed standing to your feet, leaving your dress folded away in the corner.
You walked down the bustling hallways of the castle towards the young lord's room. "Lord Fushiguro." You called out knocking on the paper door. "What?! Leave me alone." The young boy grumbled. You rolled your eyes, "I'm not here to lecture you just to just to talk." You said. The door slammed open revealing the short raven hair child, his brows were furrowed and he was pouting. You smiled softly leaning down to meet his eye level, resting your hands on your knees. "Fushiguro. What did you do to make Miss Yoko mad?" You asked. He clicked his tongue in annoyance crossing his arms avoiding your gaze. Reaching out to poked his cheek, "Aw come on don't treat me that way. Tell me." You asked once again this time poking his side. Finally Megumi cracked a smile swatting your hand away. "Old hag—" he began. "Fushiguro!" You gasped playfully slapping his hand for his bad language. He continued not paying much attention to your dramatic gasp, "...was getting on my nerves. She was ranting about how I don't deserve to be in the Gojo clan because apparently I'm a bad kid. I need to be more like Tsumiki. Well I told her to fu—" you cut him off by cupping a hand over his mouth wagging a finger in his face. "Fushi! No! Bad!" You scolded. God this child had a mouth on him. Where did he learn it from? You thought standing to your feet. You crossed your arms tapping your foot against the wooden floor, "You really can't talk like that. It does look bad for the clan." You reminded him. "Well that freak Gojo talks casually and he sleeps with everyone woman he looks at!" Megumi retorted. Sighing you ruffled his hair, "Stop it. It's almost time for dinner and I have to go help with the kitchen duties. Go find your sister and stop talking like that." You said placing a hand on his back giving him a light shove to send him on his way to find his sister.
You watched as his little body ran off down the halls before you made your way towards the kitchen. For some reason you had been assigned to help care for the Fushiguro children that had been adopted into the Gojo clan but Megumi had taken a specific liking to you which in turn made you one of the few people who he would listen to—tolerate.

Dinner went by without any problems and now you were walking back towards your shared room. The sun had long set by now another day full of chores was complete all you wanted to do was sleep before it was time to repeat the cycle again tomorrow. The halls were quiet most had already retired to their rooms for the nights. Yawning you rubbed your eyes lazily dragging your feet against the floor. "Hey." A voice called out causing you to stop. You fanned your hand in front of your face as you finished your yawning, tears pricked the corner of your eyes as your vision focused on the man standing in front of you. "Yes?" You asked. "This yours?" The man asked handing you a bundle of cloth. Your eyes widened as you quickly took it from him, it was your dress you had been seeing earlier. You looked up too see non other than Satoru Gojo, quickly you bowed your head. "I'm so sorry milord for leaving my garbage out. Please forgive me." You said. Gojo stood there for a few moments before laughing, "It's obviously not garbage. I was walking with Megumi and had found it, think it fell in the garden. He said it was probably yours." He explained. You slowly looked up at him, "You know who I am?" You asked.
The white haired lord nodded, "Duh. Megumi talks about you a lot. Think you remind him of his mom or something." Gojo said nonchalantly. You were shocked that Megumi talked so highly of you especially to the head of the clan. It was even more surprising Gojo was even speaking to you, this was the first time he had ever even exchanged words with you—despite all your years working here. "O-oh I see. I suppose that's a good thing?" You shrugged a shoulder looking at him confused. Gojo looked at your for few more moments as you squirmed awkwardly under his intense gaze. "W...well I should be going now. Have a good night milord." You bowed dismissing yourself before scurrying away. Gojo watched as you ran off, he groaned rubbing the back of his head, "Fucked that up didn't I?" He muttered to himself.

You had soon forgotten your encounter with Satoru Gojo as other things preoccupied your mind. The next time you encountered the man was a couple weeks later when you were cleaning the hallways where his chambers resided. You scrubbed on your knees, the brush sliding back and forth along the wooden floor. Your kimono sleeves were rolled up and your dress was pulled up higher than usual as to not get it wet. "I prefer my women to be more modest." A voice said from behind you. You jumped in surprise sending the brush flying across the hallway, groaning in frustration you sat up looking to see had spoken to you. "Why does it matter what you prefer?" You began voice clearly laced with annoyance and frustration. It was non other than Lord Gojo hovering above you a lazy smirk plastered on his pale face. As usual his kimono was half opened exposing his muscular chest, his hand limply slipped inside the fabric. "It matters because I'm the Lord of this castle." He replied back his voice was playful. You weren't in the mood to play games as you had been painstakingly hand washing the floors of this offensively large castle. "I'm sorry I'm not up your standards Lord Gojo. I'm cleaning the last thing I was worried about was my modesty." You apologized half heartedly waiting for him to hurry up and go to his room at the end of the hall.
Gojo leaned against the wall watching you intensely, "How come I've never noticed how cute you were before ______— can I call you that? I like it more than Hachisu." He asked seemingly to ignore your previous comment. You were taken aback by his casualness on calling you by your first name, "I suppose you can call me whatever you'd like my lord. As for your previous question...probably because I'm a servant." You said looking at him with a blank expression. "That's a shame. I guess I should of paid more attention to the servants if you were amongst them. Care to join me in my room for a cup of sake?" He asked. You hummed in reply, "Mmm...I'd rather not. I'm awfully busy today. Thank you for the generous offer though." You tried to politely decline his request as you were not in the mood for meaningless chit chat. Gojo sighed shrugging his shoulders a look of defeat on his face, "You're missing out but the offer is always there ______ my room is always open to you~" he said before walking into his room shutting the doors behind him. Shaking your head you went back to work rewashing the spots he had just walked on.
。 °✩。 °✩。 °✩
You sat on the tatami floor with Megumi sitting in between your legs as your brushed his wet hair. He had just taken a bath and you made it your goal to tame his wild hair. You sang softly under your breath as you ran the comb though his hair. "Master Gojo always keeps bugging me with questions about you all of sudden." Megumi said. You stopped singing and brushing his hair, "Why's that?" You asked curiously. The boy shrugged, "Dunno. You've been taking care of me for the past two years don't know why he's suddenly interested in you. Did you do something?" He asked. You raised a brow shaking your head, "No don't think so. Didn't think he'd care about a servant girl enough to ask questions." You replied. It was strange but you figured you were his newest interest and soon he'd be bored of you moving onto to the next girl. You patted Megumi's shoulder, "Up. Go lay down so I can tuck you in. You've got a big day tomorrow after all, you'll be training with Lord Geto." You smiled moving on from the topic. Megumi mumbled under his breath slowly crawling towards his futon. He slipped under the covers and reached for a book beside him, "Can you help me read this tonight ______?" He asked waving the book in your face. You took it from him as you began to flip through the pages a frown slowly replacing your warm smile. "I..I'm sorry Megumi. I can't read this it's too advanced for me. I'll ask Miss Ieiri if she knows someone who can read this." You said embarrassedly. Megumi took the book from you laying it beside him, "It's fine ______. I'll just go to bed." He said disappointedly rolling to face the other way. You sighed tucking him in, "Sleep well young lord." You said softly before standing up to blow out the candles and leaving his room. Before you slid the door shut Megumi called out to you quietly, "You're more than a servant to me ______. Don't let that weirdo make you feel otherwise." He mumbled. "Thank you Megumi." You smiled sliding the door shut.
You walked down the hall as tears threatened to spill, that was the kindest words that had ever been said to you before from a noble and it came from a child. The tears slowly ran down your cheeks as you wiped your eyes with the fabric of your sleeve. "Why are you crying?" Gojo's voice asked, "Megumi say something rude?" He asked snapping you out of your self pity party. You looked up at the man blinking away the tears, "No. I'm not crying just got something in my eye." You quickly said. Gojo clicked his tongue in annoyance, "You're bad a lying." He smirked. "It's really none of your concern Lord Gojo." You snapped trying to walk past him but he grabbed your wrists pinning you against the bamboo wall. He hovered above you with your hands pinned above your head, his face close to yours. "I order you to talk to me ______. Don't disobey your master now." His voice was low. His crystal blue eyes peered into your own eyes. You stared at him shock, your heart was beating loudly and quickly. "Go ahead speak." He smirked. Suddenly rage gripped you and you squirmed out of his strong grip pushing him with all your might, "Fine if you really want to know my lord! I'm an idiot I can't read above a young child's level. Not that that would be something that ever cross your noble mind." You shouted. Candles flickered on from the rooms that lined the hallways but you could care less. Gojo looked at you his eyes widened in shock, he stepped towards you. But you reached out slapping him across the face before storming off; right now you didn't care about the consequences of your actions. You could care less that you slapped the most feared lord in all of the Japan across the face.
"You want me to get her Satoru?" Suguru Geto stepped out his room. "Huh why are you grinning like an idiot?" Out came Shoko Ieiri yawning. Gojo stood there with a grin on his face he shook his head, "No leave her be." He waved his hand dismissively at the two before walking off. The raven haired man exchanged a look of confusion with the brunette beside him. "He turned off his infinity almost like he wanted to be slapped. What a freak." Shoko smirked before shrugging it off heading back into her room. Geto soon following after her, returning back to his room. Sometimes Satoru was impossible to read.
。 °✩。 °✩。 °✩
When morning came the whole castle knew about you slapping Gojo across the face. The women you shared with a room with scolded you all morning long about just how awful you were. So as an unofficial punishment for daring to lay a hand on the beautiful warlord who had so graciously turned off his infinity for you, you were put to work outside. You breathed heavily as you carried large bags of rice from a supply cart all the way into the kitchen. This work was typically left to the men so you were completely unfit for the job. As you began to stumble losing your balance you felt the weight lifted off, you collapsed to the ground catching your breath. "Jealous old maids sending you to do men's work they should be ashamed of themselves." A familiar voice said clicking his tongue. You looked up seeing white hair glistening under the sunlight, the bags of rice you were carrying were slung over his shoulder, you hung your head low sighing. "It's my punishment for laying a hand on you. I won't apologize so just deal with me as you see fit Lord Gojo." You mumbled as you looked at the grass. Gojo laughed, "I don't expect you to apologize I've come here to tell you something. Stand up." He said. Slowly you stood to your feet still avoiding eye contact with him.
Gojo raised a brow, he wasn't used to seeing you mope around. "I've decided I'll give you reading and writing lessons. Every night after your dinner come see me in my room." He said. You looked up at him, he smiled warmly at you it seemed so genuine like he wasn't mocking or taking pity on you. "Are you serious?" You asked is disbelief. He nodded, "One hundred percent serious ______. Also take the rest of the day off, I'll handle the rest of your workload." Gojo said. You just stared at him you were certainly expecting him to kick you out of the castle onto the streets yet here he was offering you lessons. "Well go on." He smirked shooing you way. Without another word you bowed your head before scrambling off.
。 °✩。 °✩。 °✩
You could hardly stomach your dinner, the other servants were now completely avoiding you gossiping. "How dare she let Lord Gojo do her chores?" One whispered rather loudly while glaring at you. "She's not even that cute yet Lord Gojo let her get away with slapping him and now she's invited to his quarters?" Another one said. You prayed dinner would be over soon so you could escape from their harsh words.
As soon as dinner was done you quickly cleaned up your mess before rushing up the stairs to the top floor where Lord Gojo's room was. You paced impatiently up and down the hall biting your fingernails. "Oh you're early. Someone's a little eager." Gojo's voice echoed through the quiet halls that same devilish smirk playing on his lips. You nodded, "I couldn't get away fast enough. Thanks to you taking over my chores today the other women won't stop talking badly about me. I wouldn't be surprised if they threw out my things out when I return for bed." You snapped. Gojo slowly nodded, "Ah I see. Fine I'll make arrangements. You can sleep in one of the guest rooms on this floor." He said before walking past you into his room motioning for you to follow. "Sit ______." He ordered pointing at a cushion on the floor in front of his desk. You nodded getting to your knees your hands folded in your lap nervously. You watched as Gojo rummaged through a bookshelf but he pulled a thin book. He sat down beside you sliding the book at you, "Open it and read as much as you can. Just so I can gauge where you're at." He said.
Your hands were shaking as you slowly opened the book, your eyes scanning over the characters on the page. Gulping you looked at him he nodded in encouragement. Your index finger slowly began to trace along the word as you tried sounding out the syllables, "As..I..tu..turn my gaze...up...up.." you came to a bump you looked at Gojo for help. "Just keep going skip what you don't know." He encouraged. You nodded, "As I turn my gaze up...and see the...moon...i am...of the...of the...woman...i...see.." you concluded looking at him with a defeated expression. Gojo only smiled warmly at you, "Not bad for your first time reading poetry. Here let me help you." He said leaning over placing his hand on top of yours, his index finger resting on top of yours as he traced under the words. You felt your face heat up by how close he was but you focused on the words in front of you. "As I turn my gaze upward...and I see the crescent moon...I am reminded...of the trailing eyebrows of the woman I saw but once." He finished though he didn't let go of your hand and his chest was still pressed against your arm. "What does that even mean?" You asked not really getting the poem. Gojo let go of your hand and shrugged, "Dunno some sappy love poem. Seems to be the only thing people want to write these days. Anyways let do another." He suggested flipping the page never moving away from you, not that you minded.
You spent all night reading and writing you weren't sure when you fell asleep but Gojo had noticed you nodding off as he was writing something for you to read. When he looked up from his brush he saw you sitting up still, eyes closed as you breathed softly you were asleep. He chuckled standing up scooping you in his arms before placing you on his own futon being sure to tuck you in. That night Gojo opted to sleep on the tatami floor making sure to keep a comfortable distance away from you.
When you awoke you were in an unfamiliar room and a very comfortable bed. You rubbed your eyes as you adjusted to the lightening. You were still in Gojo's room you quickly scrambled out of bed looking around for the white haired warlord but he was nowhere to be seen. Running a hand through your hair you huffed, "I have to sneak out of here." You muttered. The last thing you wanted was more rumors going on about you. You listened for footsteps and when the coast seemed cleared you sneaked out and downstairs just in time for breakfast.
No one seemed to notice your absence but you couldn't help but notice Gojo was nowhere to be seen. As you began washing yourself up after breakfast you then walked to Megumi's room to get him ready for his training with Lord Geto. Tsumiki was also in the room as she brushed through her brother's hair. "______!" Megumi shouted when he spotted you. Tsumiki held him still as she continued to comb his hair, "Good morning Miss ______." She greeted flashing you a smile. You bowed at the two walking over, "Here I'll finish up Lady Tsumiki. You should go get ready for your day." You smiled she nodded leaving you two alone. It didn't take until you finished dressing Megumi and sending him on his way to find Geto. The rest of your day you spent doing chores.

When night came you went to Gojo's bedroom and continued on with your lessons it was apart of your daily routine and had been for nearly a month now. Though you were still stuck in the servant quarters the other had begun to just ignore you which you thought was better than getting gossiped about. You were becoming more comfortable around Gojo and you realized he wasn't all too bad, beneath the surface level of his womanizer playful personality, was someone who was an intellect and kind. It seemed like he just wanted company more than anything. As you fished wrapping up your lessons for the night Gojo stopped you grabbing your wrist, "Sit with me for a moment ______." He said taking a sip of sake. You obliged, "What is it my lord?" You asked tilting your head curiously.
Gojo's face looked unsure and it was completely serious for once, his brows furrowed. "______, take care of Megumi and Tsumiki for me while I'm away. You see...Megumi comes from the Zenin clan I made a promise with his father to protect him. He trusts you I can tell." He said. You frowned, "What's this all about is something happening to you?" You asked. Gojo shook his head white strands of hair falling in front of his ocean blue eyes, "Nah I'll just be away for a while starting tomorrow. So our lessons will be postponed. Strong Demons are lurking near the Northern territories along with people who wish to overthrow me. I'll be taking the army to handle any plot of rebellion. I expect when I get back you'll be able to write your own poem." He smirked letting go of your wrist. Things had been so peaceful lately it was only a matter of time before the men would be going back to war. "Okay I promise to take care of Megumi and Tsumiki, not like I haven't been anyways. And I promise to have a poem written for you upon your arrival." You grinned and with that you two wished one another a good night.

A month had passed before Gojo's army returned in the middle of the night. The men were wounded but yet they were in high spirits; the battle was victorious despite their injuries. The castle was in utter disarray as the servant women ran about clearing rooms to make makeshift infirmaries for all the wounded. Shoko was running about to mend the soldiers wounds. And for you, You sat in a storage room that was turned into a makeshift infirmary. placing a warm damp rag onto of the man's forehead you tried to comfort him as a another woman stitched his cut together, "You'll feel better soon. Just relax." You said as you cleaned his body of dried blood. You weren't a medic so you felt useless, "______, go fetch some clean rags." The older woman ordered. You nodded standing up leaving the room to search for any remaining clean cloths. As you searched the halls you were stopped by Geto, "______, go see Lord Gojo in his chambers." He said. You looked at the raven haired man, he looked fine for the most part a few cuts and bruises but otherwise well. "I will once I find some cloth—" you began but was cut off. "No I'll go fetch some. Who was needing it?" Geto asked. "Miss Yoko..she's in the storage shed." You said. Geto nodded motioning with his hand for you to go to Gojo. You bowed before quickly climbing the stairs up to Gojo's room.
The commotion from downstairs did not make its way up the top floor where Gojo resided. It was quiet not a single candle was lit, the hallway was dark it was eerie. You slowly walked down the hall finally coming to a stop in front the paper sliding doors of Gojo's room. "Lord Gojo..you called for me?" You called out awaiting his response. But when you didn't hear anything after a couple minutes you took it upon yourself to enter the room. Slowly you slid the door open being sure to slide it back shut once you stepped into the room. It was much like the hallway, dark and quiet but upon listening you heard the sound of running water.
"_______, is that you?" Gojo's voice called out from behind another door. "Y-yes milord!" You replied following the sound of his voice. He must of been in the bath but why he was asking for you was unbeknownst to you. "Come here." Gojo ordered but his voice sounded weaker than usual less playful. Taking a deep breath you slid the door open a wave of steam hitting your face. You closed your eyes as you followed along the wall, "Okay I'm here. What did you need?" You asked. "Open your eyes ______, I need your help. Don't worry I'm decent." He said. Pulling your hands to cover your eyes you peaked through your fingers just to be sure that Gojo was decent. He sat on the ledge of wooden bathtub, his legs were half in the water, a towel wrapped around his waist. His head was hung low as his wet white hair clung to his pale skin. It was then you noticed his body was littered in deep bloody gashes. You gasped in shock, Gojo only chuckled, "Yeah I got the worse of it. I just need your help dressing the wounds and applying the medicinal treatment." He said motioning for you to come over, "There I laid out all the things. I'll walk you through it." He said.
You shook your head, "Wouldn't Miss Ieiri be more suitable for this? I can't heal wounds with a touch like she can." You tried to reason. You had no medical knowledge you were just a simple girl from a small village. Gojo clicked his tongue in annoyance, "I know but she needs to focus on the others plus I don't want to worry anyone, you know. if the men see their leader injured might ruin morale, might cause people to see me as weak. Just grab that rag ______ and apply that cream then bandaged the cut." He said pointing his finger at each item. Sighing nervously you picked up clean rag and placed the cream on it as ordered and gently began to dab the gash on his shoulder. He winced hissing through his teeth, you paused afraid you were doing something wrong. "It's fine keep going." He hissed. After what felt like hours you were finally done taking a step back you now got a full view of just how injured Gojo had gotten. His body was covered in bandages some already beginning to turn a pale red as the blood seeped through. "All done my lord. What else can I get you?" You asked beginning to clean up the area.
Gojo stood to his feet, his towel hanging loosely on his waist. "My clothes. I'm going to bed." He ordered walking past you out of the bath room and into his room. You nodded and quickly rummaged through his closet before finally pulling out a robe handing it to him. He thanked you turning around and dropping his towel. You let out a surprised yelp as you covered your eyes. Gojo didn't say anything else as he laid down onto his futon closing his eyes. You took it as your queue to leave him be as you quietly made your way out of his room you heard his soft voice call out. "Thank you ______. You're a good girl." He said. You raised your brows shaking your head, "Goodnight Lord Gojo." You whispered in reply leaving his room and returning back to the infirmary to help out you had a long night ahead of you.

Your nightly routine of lessons with Gojo were postponed replaced by nightly sessions of you mending his wounds, he was healing incredibly slow and refused to ask for Shoko's aid. tonight was like the previous ones before. Gojo sat on the tatami floors of his chambers, his robe pulled down to waist as you gently cleaned and rebandaged his wounds. You had learned of what exactly transpired that night which caused more than half the army to be injured in some way. They were ambushed on their way back to the capital by demons and amongst those demons were people who seemed to have tamed them. Gojo ordered the army back to the capital in fear that the castle had been invaded while he stayed back to finish them off which he to no one's surprise. When he had caught up with the army Geto was waiting and quickly brought Gojo to his chambers to avoid the other men from seeing just how injured he was. Gojo then asked for your assistance only. Which brought you to your current question, "Lord Gojo...why did you ask for me and not one of the other servants who have more medical knowledge?" You asked softly as you tightened the bandage around his bicep.
Gojo sipped on a cup of sake and shrugged, "You're the only one I felt I could trust. You treat me like an actual human unlike a lot of the other women around here. I wasn't in the mood for meaningless praise and pity while I was patched up. I knew you wouldn't do that so I asked for you." He answered nonchalantly. You looked up at him, the side profile of his face was illuminated by the dim candle light and the moon's glow. He looked surreal—ethereal it was no wonder why woman threw themselves at him and his flirtatious personality certainly didn't help. You'd be lying if you said you didn't find Gojo attractive, but you didn't throw yourself at him because you felt like he would use you despite how close you two had been getting. You were from a poor household, an orphan. You were a servant girl made to serve someone with a higher status than you for the rest of your life so why would you waste your time on even imagining anything with someone of Satoru Gojo's status?
Finally you replied, "Ah I see that makes sense. Well I'm glad I can be of some use to you." You smiled weakly as you pulled Gojo's robe back up to cover him from the cold breeze. He eyed your from the side watching as you began to clean up stacking bloodied rags onto a tray. "Are you leaving?" He asked. You nodded, "Yes, I'll be back in the morning." You smiled at him. He sat the cup of sake down and grabbed your hand, "Stay with me tonight. I'm tired of sleeping alone." He pleaded his voice was uncharacteristically soft. You gazed into his eyes for some time trying to guess his intentions but you gave in sitting the tray down on the table. "Very well. Here let me fix your bed. I can tell you've drank too much." You scolded gently. As you changed the sheets into new ones you patted the pillow, "Come on Lord Gojo. Let's go to sleep." You motioned for him to come over. As he downed the last of his sake he made his way over to the bed promptly falling down and pulling the covers over him. As you began to make your own bed beside him he grabbed your hand pulling you onto the bed. Wrapping his arms around your waist he nuzzled against your neck, his warm breath against your ear. "Stop calling my Lord Gojo..aren't we close enough yet you can call me Satoru? I call you ______ after all." He slurred in his half asleep and awake drunken state.
You felt butterflies in your stomach as you tried to control your nerves. Your hand was placed instinctively on top of strong forearms. Satoru held onto you like he was afraid you'd disappear, his body was pressed against your back. "O-okay Satoru." You stammered it felt so odd to refer to him so casually, it felt wrong in a way. Here you were a peasant girl laying in the same bed with the most important man in all of Japan. "I like that. Makes me feel good to hear you say my name." He purred. His hands slowly left your waist as one began to trail up your body and the other hand down your body. You let out a gasp as your felt his hand brush against your thigh, "L-lord gojo!" You hissed. He squeezed your thigh, "Saaatoooruuuu." He reminded, "I dreamt about sleeping next to you when I was away ______. Don't you know I'm in loovvve with you. I haven't even slept with any woman in months because of you." He slurred. Your eyes widened, "Satoru you're drunk don't say such things." You whispered grabbing his exploring hands and placing them back on your waist. He whined, "I'm being serious ______. Have you not realized I never have my Infinity on when I'm around you." He poured. You laid with him in silence and you realized he had fallen asleep. You felt like it was impossible to sleep after what had just happened but eventually you drifted away.

Morning came and when you had awoken you were still being held by Satoru. You stirred letting out a yawn. He was warm and you felt safe in his arms. "______, you're awake?" His groggy voice asked. You felt his grip tighten around you, "Just lay with me for a bit." He pleaded. You nodded, "Of course." More silence passed before he spoke again. "I was always adored because of who I was. From the day I was born I was told I would unite Japan. I've been treated like a king since the day I was born. It's tiresome dealing with the constant praise and yes men around me. I have been with countless women, spoke to so many but none of them ever treated me like you have. You're different, you're special _______. I was afraid to admit it at first but I think I've fallen in love with you. You treat me as an equal and see me for who I am." Satoru said softly his fists clenched as he balled up the fabric of your dress. You couldn't believe the words that were just said to you, Satoru Gojo was in love with you?! You pried yourself from his grip sitting up, he followed suit. "You think I'm lying don't you? That I just want to sleep with you?" He asked. You slowly nodded, "Y-yes I don't see any other reason why you'd say you were in love with me." You replied.
Satoru leaned forward, brushing your bangs out of your face with his slender fingers, "I'm being serious. I don't know what I have to do to prove it." He frowned. You shook your head, "I'm not sure. Please give me some time to think this through." You said quickly getting to your feet and rushing out of the room.
You don't know how long you walked for until you finally collapsed to your knees near a stream. You sighed placing your hand over your chest. This was overwhelming, Satoru seemed so genuine in the way he spoke you really didn't think he was lying trying to manipulate you. You couldn't figure out why you weren't happy, you had come to look forward to his company so now when he was confessing his love for you why were you running away? You sighed, you knew why—you were trying to save his reputation. It would look awful on the Gojo clan for their head to be in love with a servant girl. It was awful—it wasn't fair. You sat at the waters edge skipping stones. the noise of cicadas chirping and the sound of flowing water was all you could hear. You weren't even sure how far you had wandered away from the castle, you just kept walking until your feet ached.
As the sun began to slowly set you watched as the skies turned shades of pink, orange, and blue. You'd have to get back soon it wasn't safe to wander in the woods after dark especially for someone like you with no cursed abilities. Slipping back on your sandals you began walking began to head back the sound of crickets beginning to chirp. It was strange one moment the sun was still out albeit it was setting and then next it was pitch black only the light of fireflies guiding your way. The woods were terrifying in the dark, sounds of rustling all around you frightened you. The path was hard to see, you we're beginning to think you were lost. As your body began to shake you leaned against a tree of support; maybe it was best to stay in one place for tonight and try again tomorrow. You don't know how long you sat against the tree, your knees pulled tightly against your chest as your eyes darted back and forth wildly. It was then you saw a faint glow from a lantern far up ahead, getting to your feet you began to hurriedly make your way towards the light. "Hello! Hello!" You called out picking up the pace. Then suddenly you froze, the sound of crunchy twigs coming from behind you. Something or someone had been following you, too afraid to turn around you began to run as fast as you could. The thing following you also chasing close behind you.
Then you fell, the combination of the uneven terrain and your sandals causing you to twist your ankle falling onto the ground, your knees and palms taking the full force of your weight. You let out a help and hurriedly tried to get back to your feet but suddenly you felt a weight on your back pin you to the ground. An animalistic grunting coming from the thing on your back. It clawed at you as you screamed in pain and fear trying to flip it off of you. Then a purple light illuminated the forest it sent the demon off you. "______! Are you okay?" A familiar voice shouted as they ran to your side. You recognized that voice from anywhere, it was Satoru Gojo. You cried out his name as he fell to his knees embracing you in his arms. Following close behind a group of soldiers. You winced when Satoru's arms touched your back and you pulled away from him. "Satoru. I'm so sorry for running away." You cried as your tears fell to the forest floor.
Satoru's eyes widened when the light from the lanterns had hit your back. Your kimono half shredded exposing you, bloodied claw marks littered your back. He slipped off shawl using it to cover your body. Shouting a few orders you didn't hear before you fainted from blood loss. The white haired lord picked you up in his arms being gentle as to not touch your back.

When you had awoken you were in a room unfamiliar but that was the least of your worries. Pain coursed through your body nearly knocking the breath out of you. "How are you feeling?" Satoru's soft voice asked as he sat aside the book he was reading to tend to you. When you opened your eyes once again  you met his crystal blue orbs gazing worriedly into yours. He had saved you from a demon without hesitation. You felt a strange fuzzy feeling in your stomach, "Satoru...thank you." You said quietly. He smiled, "Of course. I was worried about you _______. You had wandered off pretty from the castle I was worried you had run away or even worse a demon had gotten you. If I hadn't been there...I don't even think about what could happen." Satoru said his voice trailing off at the end. "Anyways Shoko healed your wounds. There's some faint scarring but you'll be fine. You'll be sore for a few days." He explained. You nodded, "I see. I'll have to thank Miss Ieiri later then." You mumbled. You picked at your fingernails awkwardly avoiding his gaze. Patting his knees he stood up to leave, "I'll leave you alone. By the way this is your room now, I had your belongings brought up here. Last thing we need is the others gossiping about you. My room is down the hall." He grinned before leaving the room sliding the paper door shut.
You sat awkwardly in your bed for a long while thinking. It seemed like you were in fact in love with Satoru Gojo and his feelings seemed genuine. Slowly sliding the bed sheets off of your body you stood to your feet wincing making your way out the door. The halls were so quiet up here it was peaceful despite it almost nearing dinner time. You made your way towards the lord of the castle's chambers knocking on the door. "Come in." Satoru's voice called out. You slid open the door stepping inside. He sat in his usual position, kimono half opened, him lazily flipping through a book. Though when he saw you his expression brightened, "______! How you feeling?" He asked quickly getting to his feet walking towards you. You flashed him a weak smile, "I feel better now. I came to talk to you." You began. You could feel your face heating up and heart beating faster. Satoru looked at you curiously urging you to go on. Taking a deep breath you spoke, "I...love you too Satoru. I'm sorry for not saying it before." You said.
His eyes widened and a faint red dusted his cheeks, then in one swift motion he reached forward cupping your face in his hands. He pressed his soft lips against yours. Your hands reached up bawling at the fabric of his robe. It was obvious you were inexperienced; you had never kissed anyone before. But Satoru didn't mind the innocence but just as you began feeling more comfortable he pulled away, he pressed his forward against yours. A smug smirk plastered on his face, "I knew it. I love you too ______." He said voice low. Satoru pressed his lips against yours once again this time he slowly backed you against the wall. You hadn't even realized you were pinned too focused on trying to wrap your mind around what was happening. Satoru's kisses were heated—experienced he bit your lip causing you to gasp and when you did he slipped tongue in. A strange feeling began to emerge in your body as you let out a whimper when his hands left your face and began to move slowly down your throat then onto your collarbones, then finally his strong hands landed on your kimono that was sloppily tied. Slender fingers pawed at the collar of your dress as he worked the fabric off your shoulders. Slowly it began to slip exposing cleavage but he didn't rush yanking the fabric down. He wanted to take his time with you, your hands shook nervously as you continued holding onto the fabric of his top. You
Satoru's lips left yours and moved onto to nipping at your neck then he shoved one leg between yours. You felt something hard—no him against your thigh. You moaned against him. Then just like nothing he pulled away from you letting go of you and backing away. His intense eyes seemed to be examining you; a smug look on his face. He was proud of his work, "We'll have to continue later ______. I hear footsteps coming from the stairs. Probably someone coming to tell us it's dinner time." He said cooly. And he was correct only moments later Geto slid the door open, "Sato—oh shit am I interrupting?" He said as his eyes darted between you and Gojo. Your face was flushed, your top almost pulled off, and you were breathing heavily and on the other hand Satoru's face was slightly flushed but he so smug. Geto got what was happening. Satoru waved his hand dismissively, "Nah. We'll be down there in a minute. ______, will be sitting beside me. Let everyone know this is my fiancé and she'll be treated with respect." He ordered. Geto nodded bowing his head and leaving the room.
Your eyes were wide as you looked at the snow haired lord, "Wha..?" You stammered. He smirked, "Oh thought you would assume I'd make you my wife." He shrugged nonchalantly. Walking towards you he pulled back up your kimono tying it securely before holding out his hand, "Let's go downstairs. I'm starving ______." He said. You took his hand in a daze. You went from an orphaned servant girl to the most important man in Japan's wife; you couldn't necessarily complain about that though.
BONUS :
Megumi glared daggers at Satoru as he ate. Tsumiki nudged her brother's side, "Megumi enough." She scolded quietly. Satoru met the raven haired boy's gaze, "Megumi don't worry. ______, still cares for you." He smiled. You nodded, "I'll still come visit you every morning and evening like always. Promise." You smiled reassuringly at him. Megumi clicked his tongue in annoyance stabbing a carrot with his chop stick, "______, why are you getting married to that weirdo anyways? Master Geto I feel like would be better." He muttered. Satoru and Geto laughed as Tsumiki hung her head in embarrassment. While you looked on fondly, this was your new family and you couldn't be happier.

With Joshua's departure to Orgin you didn't have time to set around and worry as Edda had gone into labor. The Hideaway was in chaos as everyone prepared for the arrival of a new baby, it seemed to be the first child born in the Hideaway so everyone was more than excited to pitch in. Mid had decided that you were to help her prep a room for Edda and the baby a nursery of sorts. So you found yourself preoccupied until night fall with hastily making a private nursery for the new mother. Finally when the sun had settled beyond the horizon is when Tarja had fetched both you and mid to come see the baby per Edda's request. You nervously trailed behind the two women, upon entering the room you greeted by the brunette woman who cheerily showed off her baby boy. Both you and Mid cooed over the newborn trying your best to make him laugh though you no doubt just made yourselves look like fools. Soon Jill, Torgal, and Gav had entered into the room. Gav seemed awestruck upon seeing the baby and without hesitation took the baby away from Edda when she offered. You smiled warmly at the scene in front of you, everyone was so happy it was nice for a change it almost made your forget about your worry for Joshua, Clive, and Dion. But you couldn't help but notice that Jill seemed distant, she merely stood at the window gazing at the night sky.
Excusing yourself from the group you walked towards Jill joining her side. "I hadn't even realized how late it was because of all the excitement of today." You said softly as you rested your elbows on the wooden windowsill. Jill hummed in response never breaking her gaze off the sky, "Mhm...they're still not back." She said seemingly to ignore your comment. You couldn't pin point exactly what she was looking at so intensely and followed her gaze. Your eyes finally landing the bright red Metia star, "Ah..I see. Your watching Metia?" You asked. "Mhm. I have a feeling it's connected to both Clive and Joshua." She explained. Sighing you stepped back, "Jill please don't worry yourself. They're strong I know they'll be okay." You said reassuringly but it seemed like you were only trying to convince yourself. Jill didn't say anything in response she was lost in her own thoughts. Stretching your arms in the air you walked towards the door of the room, "Tarja, I'm going to go get some fresh air." You said to the auburn haired woman. She waved in response as you walked out the door.
The Hideaway was quiet, the sound of gentle waves and quiet mummerings were all you heard this late at night unlike the capital cities you had grown up in. Your boots clicked against the wooden floors as you made your way to the docks to sit on the beach. Sighing you sat on the sandy shore pulling your knees to your chest resting your chin on top. Your hand outstretched moving back and forth absentmindedly in the tides. The sound of the waves was soothing...it could only help quell your anxiety so much though. You noticed how the dark night sky was slowly lighting up, day break would arrive in a few hours and yet no sign of Joshua.
You had no idea how long you sat on the shore it was only when Torgal's howl broke through the quiet night when you were snapped out of your daze. Something in your mind told you to look at the sky and when you did you saw the once bright red star had now disappeared as did Orgin which floated menacingly on the horizon. It was all gone but where was Joshua?!
Then you heard Jill's distressed crying alongside Torgal's howls. You felt your chest tighten up it was suddenly hard to breath, your fist clenched the fabric on your chest as your tried to steady yourself. Did Torgal sense they were dead? Hot tears streamed down your face, your head was spinning the sound of waves were now drowned out you couldn't focus on anything. Torgal's howling continued to echo through the air it seemed like he was trying to get something's attention but you couldn't focus on him right now.
It wasn't until the sun slowly began to rise over the horizon when you saw figures moving slowly in the distance. You tried to focus your eyes but the tears were hard to see through especially when the water was glistening the sun. Three figures slowly made their way closer and closer it was then you saw a familiar head of blond hair slowly limping towards you. You heard shouting and then you felt a gush of wind blow right past you. It was Torgal running towards them. Quickly you got to your feet running through the shallow water towards him—you had to be sure you weren't hallucinating. "J-Joshua?!" You shouted as you stumbled over your feet. No it was too good to be true! "I..I'm here ______." Joshua said weakly as he unhooked his arm from around Clive's shoulder and he tumbled towards you. You barely caught him as you both collapsed to your knees, Joshua's arms were wrapped weakly around you as you held him up. "Oh god Joshua you're here...you made it back." You choked on your tears as you held onto him. When he didn't respond you thought he had died in your arms but upon checking his pulse you left out a laugh of relief. He had passed out in your arms, it was to be expected after everything he had went through. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Dion who had fallen to his knees in the shallow water, he looked exhausted and injured but he was alive. He flashed you a weak smile and nod, "We did it ______." He said voice was hoarse. Then you saw Clive who was surrounded by Torgal and Jill who cried as they held onto him. Everyone had come back alive and that was all you could of wished for.

All three the men had fallen into a long slumber after their return from Origin so the story of how they defeated Ultima was left a mystery. Clive was the first to awaken after only four days, the brunet retold how he everything went. How he absorbed Ultima's powers and thus used it to save Joshua's life. You sobbed into his chest as he retold the story thanking him a million times over for saving Joshua's life how you could never repay him. Of course Clive did not expect anything in return he just wished for his baby brother to awake.
Dion had woken up next after a week had passed it seemed like the guilt he once felt towards the destruction of Twinside had all but gone away. He had been able to forgive himself. When he retold his story of how he lived, he had used the last of his strength to break his fall and when had awoke Clive and Joshua had found him washed ashore. It seemed like a miracle any of them had made it out and found each other. Dion stayed at the Hideaway recovering as he asked the Cursebreakers to locate Terance. You on the other hand waited day and night for Joshua to awaken, you hardly left his bedside it was only when Jote had begged you to take a moment to yourself when you finally did. You were afraid to leave his side but you did so. You ate, washed yourself up, and checked in on the others.
A month had passed when Joshua had finally awoke, it was the early morning and you were asleep next to him on the bed. Joshua groaned awake as his eyes slowly opened adjusting to the light. Pain shot through his body when he tried to sit up, he let out a yelp which shot you awake. You quickly scrambled off the bed and grabbed a vial of medicine handing it to him. "Here Joshua drink this. It'll make you feel better." You ushered. He quickly drank it the pain slowly going away, sighing he tried to remember everything that had happened. It felt like he was in a never ending nightmare. "______...are you okay?" He asked. You raised a brow and then laughed softly quickly sitting back next to him, "Of course I'm okay. You should be more worried about yourself. You were asleep for a month." You scolded him half heartedly. "Oh right.." he mumbled closing his eyes. You cried in relief he was awake and that god forsaken Crystal that littered his chest was gone. Ultima was gone and he could never hurt your Joshua again.
"No more crying please ______." Joshua said softly as he reached his hand out using his fingers to wipe away the tears that streamed down your cheeks. You laughed hiccuping as you wiped the tears away, "I-I'm sorry you're right. I've done enough crying to last us a lifetime. I'm just so happy your back." You said smiling warmly at him. Joshua looked at you, his blue eyes were bright full of life, "I told you I'd come back to you. I could never leave you alone again my love." He said brushing his fingers through your messy hair.

Another month had passed at the Hideaway. Joshua had regained his strength albeit he was still struggling. Most of his days were spent sitting down reading a book or talking to you. He had watched as you rushed around the Hideaway and the surrounding lands with Dion and Terance trying to get the Empire back in order. Clive and Jill were also trying to restore Rosaria alongside the Undying to prepare for Joshua's return. It seemed like Joshua would be taking over the Duchy as it was always planned but he felt a little useless sitting around but Jote assured him it was more important for him to recover completely. The little girl who had saved Dion's life was brought to the Hideaway alongside Terance; she spent a lot of time playing with the children. It was nice to finally see everyone at ease despite the uncertainty the future held. Joshua had begun writing a book retelling both his and brother's adventures.
You had finally returned to Joshua's side when it was time for dinner, you held a tray with both of yours food. "Goodness I feel like I haven't been able to catch a break." You sighed as you sat beside Joshua in the dinning hall placing his plate of food in front of him. "Thank you my love. You must take time for yourself though." He reminded as he began to eat making sure to push aside the vegetables. You laughed, "A Duke who won't eat vegetables now that's something." You commented leaning over to steal his carrots. He smiled, "Good thing he has a wife who will." He retorted. Soon the two of you were joined by Clive, Jill, Terance, and Dion. "Terance and I's time at the Hideaway is coming to an end. We'll return back to Oriflamme and help restore order. We hope Kihel can stay also, just until we get the castle back in order." He said. Jill nodded, "Of course, she'll be safe here and there's other children her age." She smiled. After more conversation the topic of Dion and Terence's relationship was brought up. It seemed like the two planned to marry after things had calmed down some. Joshua nodded, "Are you sure it'll be okay to call off both you and ______'s engagement? It may look bad if she was to marry me right away." He said worriedly. You scoffed, "Joshua I think you're being far too anxious about this. The people shouldn't care as long as we help and treat them fairly." You said. "We'll all be working together and without the Crystals anymore the people's last concern is who a bunch of royals are marrying." Clive added. Joshua sighed he prayed this transition into a new era would be smooth.
~•••~
It was the longest and most stressful year of your life transitioning into a world without magic and especially one without your Dominant. It was a tireless effort to free the Branded and it was especially more so to convince the world to treat them as equals. Tarja had trained more people on removing the brand of their skin her skills getting cleaner and cleaner with time leaving a faint scar. Clive never returned to the Rosarian throne deciding to live alongside Jill in the Hideaway which had become a now bustling neutral town no longer did it lurk in the barren lands. You had no home to return to the Crystalline Dominion was all but gone so you returned to Rosaria with Joshua. Twinside was slowly getting rebuilt with the efforts from The Empire and Rosaria funding it. Though you suspected you would never see your homeland in all its glory—at least not in your life time. Joshua was still weak but it was apparent he was slowly regaining his strength the ailment that once plagued him was gone—no more nights of coughing up blood or long periods where he would sleep for days at a time. Joshua was by your side every moment of the way mending the wounds of Valisthea. Dion and Terance were married shortly after their return to Oriflamme and much to your relief they were accepted with open arms, the people happy to have a fair king. Kihel alongside other orphans were adopted into the royal family.
Clive and Jill had a small private wedding off the coast of Rosaria which you cried all throughout. Now all that left was for you and Joshua to seal the marriage which brought you to today. Your hair was carefully brushed through by Jill as she hummed softly to herself, "______ how are you feeling?" She asked. You sighed dreamily, "I'm quite excited for the day to finally be here. It feels as if we've been engaged for ever—in fact I think I've gone through the longest engagement ever." You laughed referencing the arrangement between you and Dion. Jill laughed as she began to lace ribbon and flowers through your hair before finally pinning on your veil. "It's time ______!" Mid said slamming the door open. Leave it to the blonde to be rowdy even at a wedding. "Lady Midadol please mind your manners this is after all a political marriage." Jote chided as she poked her head from behind the eccentric girl. "Aw okay I knowww i knoww. Come on let's go take our places." Mid said motioning for the women to follow her so you could begin walking down the aisle. You laughed slowly getting to your feet, you hadn't worn heels in so long so stood still for a moment trying to get your balance. Finally it was time, you nervously made your way out of the room and Dion greeted you. "You look gorgeous ______." He said flashing you his signature charming smile. He held his arm out which your gratefully took, "We both got our happy endings? Who would of thought." You said softly beginning to walk out into the open. As soon as the doors opened you were greeted by the sound of people cheering tossing flowers and petals, you held tightly onto Dion's arm as he began guiding you down the street. Your heart was pounding but Dion reassured you things would be okay. "Were you this nervous at your ceremony?" You asked. The blond nodded, "Of course but people seem to be more excited to see a bride rather than a groom." He laughed.
Finally after what felt like forever you finally arrived in front of the church's doors which were slowly pulled open by guards. Through the sheer white of your lace veil you saw Joshua standing at the alter dresses in traditional Rosarian wedding garbs. You felt the tears prick the corner of your eyes you wanted to rush forward but you maintained your pace. Then you were mere feet from Joshua and Dion let go of your arm, "I'm happy for you ______." He said before stepping to the side. You stood in front of Joshua gripping your bouquet tightly in your hands as your looked up at him. Joshua stood gazing at you adoringly, to him you were the most beautiful woman in the world and the only person for him forever and always. The vows were a blur, it was obvious you and Joshua were rushing through them longing to just kiss one another. "______.." Joshua said softly as he slipped the ring onto your finger. "Joshua.." you whispered back slipping the finger onto his. He slowly lifted your veil off your face being careful as to not mess up your hair nor makeup. When he saw your face he nearly choked on a cry, he cupped your face in his hands and pressed his lips against yours sealing your marriage, finally. "I love you more than anything in the whole universe ______." Joshua whispered.
Finally you were with Joshua where you two could thrive together in a new world. No more magic no more Dominants no everyone had a chance of living a life they wanted. It wouldn't be an easy journey to bring complete freedom and peace to Valisthea but you would try your damndest to make your dreams come true with Joshua by your side it felt possible. For once you looked forward to the next day.

Day turned to night and no sign of Joshua but something else had unintentionally distracted you. Edda had gone into labor and given birth. You sat in the room alongside Gav, Mid, Jill, and Torgal. You joined Gav in making silly faces at the baby rocking the baby boy in your arms, "Jill come look how cute he is." You cooed smiling as you turned to her. But she was standing at the window gazing out at the moon Torgal by her side. You noticed she seemed distant but that was too be expected. Turning to the blonde beside you, you spoke, "Your turn Mid." You said gently handing her the baby. Mid laughed in delight as she rocked the baby back and forth. Standing to your feet you walked towards the grey haired girl's side. "They'll be back soon Jill. It'll be okay." You said trying to comfort her. Jill turned to you and nodded, "Right..." She trailed off her gaze never leaving the night's sky. You turned your gaze to the side watching the Metia star glow brightly next to the moon. Placing a hand on Jill's shoulder you tried to comfort her, "Don't worry to much. They're strong." You said before leaving her side. You needed some fresh air so you'd figured you do something for Edda after her exhausting labor, "I'll be back Edda. I'm gonna get you something to eat." You called out flashing her a smile. Edda returned the smile, "Oh that sounds wonderful. Get me the biggest piece of meat you got!" She chimed. You winked at her, "Yes ma'am!" You replied walking out of the room.
~•••~
"Thank you for cooking somethin' up for Edda at such short notice." You said thanking the cook. "Aw it ain't no problem." The cook said bashfully. Leaving the dining area You held the tray of food as you hummed contently walking down the steps back towards the infirmary. By tomorrow morning Clive, Joshua, and Dion would be back celebrating their victory over Ultima. For now you had had to wait, lost in thought it was the sudden sorrowful howling from Torgal that you stop dead in your tracks. Snapping your attention to the sky, your heart dropped, you saw the Metia stare die out. Then you noticed Orgin was gone—the foreboding crystal was gone but where was Joshua and the others?!
It was then you connected the dots, Metia burning out only meant one thing. Gasping your eyes widened as tears pricked the corners of your eyes, You dropped the tray of food and fell to the ground, "No! No!" You cried out as hot tears fell down your face. Your heart hurt so bad, you could barely breathe as heavy sobs racked through your body. "_____!" Tarja shouted as she saw you fall to the floor rushing to your side. You sobbed barely able to utter a word as Tarja asked if you were feeling ill but she then connected everything m. Jill rushing out of the room, Torgal's howling, Orgin gone, and your sobs. She looked at the sky and saw the once bright red star was now gone. They had died they weren't back. She didn't say anymore instead comforting you as you clung onto her sobbing. Joshua was gone he wouldn't be coming back ever again. You were alone in this world you would never marry nor would you ever be able to see Joshua's comforting smile or feel his warm embrace.
You wished you had died instead. Perhaps you should of let the world burn that night in the Dominion—letting Dion finish the world off with Bahumet's flames. There was no point in living in a world without Joshua; your heart couldn't bear the pain of losing him again. This time permanently.
And thus did their story end.

Tumblr media
The moment Nanami laid eyes on you the day you were born he felt something inside him change; maybe it was because he knew from that moment forward he would be your protector until the day he died just as his father was for the king—your father. He held you in his arms, you cooing and your hands pulling at the strings on his shirt, his face was scrunched as he disliked babies. “She likes you.” The Queen said her expression was tired yet gentle. He only continued to make a disgusted face which only made you laugh more. “What’s her name?” He asked informally as he handed you back to your mother. He watched as your mother caressed your chubby cheeks a look of pure love gleamed in her eyes, “______. My dear sweet ______.” The queen replied voice so soft. ______, that was a lovely name. He thought.
Nanami was only your senior by five years but yet he was a still a young boy with an immense amount of responsibility, and truth be told he hardly wanted to interact with you when you were a baby even a toddler he did not care that he was your knight and you were the Princess. It wasn’t until you were older at the innocent age of seven when he began to interact with you more. Partially it was because his father forced him to get to know you more and the other reason was because he was constantly following you around, sword in hand and an uninterested expression on his pale features. You often bombard him with questions which he dutifully answered slowly he began to open up to you and thus a true friendship sparked.
When Nanami was a teen he realized something in him had changed. The way your hand would brush against him would make his heart flutter, your gentle laughter made his face heat up, the way your soft silky hair felt against his fingertips as he brushed your hair on rare occasions. He would feel jealous when he saw others flirting with you in an attempt to court you but he knew no man was worthy of your hand in marriage so he’d find them afterwards and tell these men that they were unworthy and to not ever flirt with you again. It worked most of the time, it was his way of weeding out cowards. You were oblivious to the fact that your knight was the one driving away men, you certainly thought you were the problem. “You’re not doing anything wrong my Princess. Those men aren’t worth your time anyways.” Nanami consoled you as he soothingly ran his hands through your hair as you cried into his chest about being the most undesirable princess in the world.
Nanami watched you from a distance as you sat on a bench on the gardens with a potential suitor. He glared daggers at the white haired man caressed your cheek before tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. He watched as your face heated up and you shyly looked away, your hands bunching up the fabric of your beautiful dress. Satoru Gojo, a man from a powerful noble family within your kingdom he had been seeing you for months now trying to win your heart over and it seemed to be working. Though Nanami knew the tales of the womanizer Satoru, he saw how the man toyed with you but you were too naive to notice. Subconsciously his fists tightened at his side and he swore he made eye contact with the white haired devil who shot him a smirk. God he could strangle him! “The Princess seems to really like him! Reckon this one will work out?” A voice said from beside him, for the first time knocking Nanami out of his trance. He looked at the raven haired man next to him and grunted, “Hope not. I hope the King doesn’t allow ______, to marry that fool.” He responded to his fellow knight Yu Haibara who was also tasked with guard duty. Yu laughed softly, “Seems like someone’s je-“ he began was quickly shut his month upon seeing the glare Nanami gave him. More time passed and eventually he watched as you wandered further into the gardens with Satoru Gojo as much as he wanted to follow he knew he couldn’t. He had to respect the boundaries that were given to him. It was nauseating to think what was happening between you and Satoru right now he only prayed it was innocent then suddenly he heard you shriek. Instantly he sprung into action following the sound of your voice. His sword was drawn expecting the worse but only to see you pressed against Satoru’s chest.
“Woah there. Don’t worry I wasn’t doing anything to the Princess. A wasp was chasing her. Don’t worry I handled it.” Satoru said cooly a boyish grin playing on his lips. His strong hand was wrapped around your waist lingering a little too close to your bum. Nanami sighed putting away his weapon he waisted no time walking up to you and placing a hand on your shoulder, “I’m afraid it’s time for the Princess’ classes. Come Yu will take you, your highness.” He said. You pulled away from Satoru and nodded, “Ah I see thank you Kento. Satoru it was a pleasure as always seeing you.” You smiled bowing to the white haired man before following Yu back into the castle, leaving Nanami and Satoru alone. “I’ll escort you out, sir.” Nanami said a tinge of annoyance in his voice. Satoru laughed, “You’re jealous aren’t you?” He asked. Nanami stiffened and only motioned for Satoru to walk. “Oh come on Kento no need to be so formal with me. We went to school together and are friends. _______, likes me which is a shame because I don’t really like her that way. Not my type. My folks are wanting me to marry her so I can be king. Don’t really want that. It’s a shame your her knight so you can’t marry her.” Satoru said walking past the blond. Nanami’s eye twitched as glared at him, “Then stop playing with her feelings.” He suddenly said, Satoru pausing. “Or what? It seems like I’m on track to be the next ki-“ then suddenly Satoru was shoved against a brick wall. Nanami gripping his frenemy’s collar. “Your playing with the wrong person Satoru. Go find someone else to manipulate but leave _______ out of this.” He hissed. Suddenly Satoru began to laugh using a small burst of cursed energy to push Nanami away. He straightened his collar, “I just wanted to see if you really liked her. Fine she’s yours. I’ll stop courting her.” He winked at the blond before walking past him leaving the castle grounds. Nanami stared blankly now realizing his mistake, you’d be absolutely heartbroken.
The next day came and so did Satoru Gojo’s rejection much to Nanami’s pleasure though he hated seeing you cry. He sat on your plush bed adorned with expensive blankets as you sobbed your head on his lap. He stroked your head as he gazed at your shaking body. “Shh shh…it’s okay Princess. He wasn’t worth your time anyways. Satoru is sleazy and a womanizer he just wanted to use you for your status.” He tried to comfort you but you only cried harder. “No one likes me Kento you only deal with me because you have to!” You cried lifting your head up as tears streamed down your face. You looked like a mess but to Nanami you were beautiful as always. His expression remained indifferent as he looked at you, “I like you ______. I stay around because I care about you.” He explained. Your eyes widened for a brief moment before you cried again collapsing into his chest. “What would I do without.” You cried. A sly smirk played on his lips as he wrapped his arms around you patting your back.
Some years passed and you were now twenty two the time to marry was near and your parents were putting more pressure on you finding a suitor. Nanami grew more restless more agitated the more men he saw trying to court you. He was losing himself—finally he had enough. He stepped into your bedroom without a knock just as the sun began to set. He stood watching you for a few moments as you hummed softly to yourself applying various creams to your face. Clearing his throat he began to speak, “_______.” He said cooly. You jumped in surprise turning to face the tall blond man, pressing a hand to your chest you laughed, “Goodness Kento you scared me. I figured you would of already been in bed since it is past your scheduled ‘work’ time.” You said. Nanami scoffed, “You know I’m on duty 24/7.” He retorted. You shrugged turning around to screw the lid onto your face cream. Swiftly Nanami made his way towards you closing the distance and when you spun around once again he was only a few inches from your body. His tall frame towered above you, “There’s something we need to discuss.” He stated. You nodded slowly standing up, your heart rate was through the roof, “Okay..go ahead.” You said meekly.
With one quick motion you were pinned to the wall as Nanami’s amber eyes peered into yours. His strong hand was placed firmly on your shoulder and his other hand against the wall trapping you. “Wha-what are you doing?” You stammered out. You’d never seen him act this way before it was intimidating. Nanami pressed his forehead against yours he let out an exasperated sigh left his mouth as he closed his eyes, “Your hunt for finding a husband it’s over. I hate the way those men stare at you…like you’re a piece of meat. They only want you because of your status. They don’t appreciate you for who you really are.” He said voice low. Your breathing was heavy as you looked up at your knight, “Wha..what are you—“ you began but once again you were cut off. You were so confused a million different questions were running through your mind. What on earth was he going on about? “Quiet I’m not done.” He silenced you. You tried wiggling out of his grasp but his grip on tightened, “I’ve decided we’re going to get married. I’m the only one that understands you. I trust you agree also?” He asked though it wasn’t so much of a question. Your eyes widened in shock, “is this a confession Kento?” You asked meekly. He hummed in response, “Mhm. I love you _______. Your status means nothing to me. Your just _______ to me.” He said though this time his voice was more center. He pulled away from you releasing his grip when you didn’t say anything.
Nanami sighed in frustration burying his face into his hand shaking his head, “Forget I said anything. I spoke out of place Princess.” He apologized. He knew if word got out about what he just confessed his father would do more than just reprimand him. He’d be lucky to get away with his life. Suddenly he felt your soft fingers wrap around his wrist, “Wait Kento. I think…no I do love you too. Perhaps I just thought it wouldn’t be possible for us to get married that’s why I tried so desperately to find someone else to love but nothing ever connected.” You confessed your voice was soft and gentle. Nanami turned to face you this time a look of surprise on his face, he couldn’t help but notice how cute you looked. So shy and submissive it turned him on like no other.
He quickly closed the gap between you two and collided his lips against yours. Your lips were so soft unlike his slightly chapped ones. His calloused hands cupped your face he bit your lip you let out a gasp and a moan left your mouth. “K-Kento.” You gasped out. As Nanami’s strong hands began to travel to your collarbone than to your chest he was stopped by your bedroom door opening.
“N-Nanami!” The familiar voice of Yu Haibabra stammered out. Quickly the blond pulled away from you and stood in front turning to face the raven haired boy, “What?” He said through gritted teeth. “I…I…the King told me to retrieve the Princess. A suitor is here to see her.” He stammered out his face was flushed a bright red. Nanami scoffed, “We’ll be out in a minute. Tell the King to send the suitor away. ______ has found herself a husband.” He commanded. Yu quickly bowed slamming the door shut behind him rushing away. When Nanami turned to face you he noticed how flushed your face was you avoided his gaze shyly twirling your fingers, “H-how do I tell father?” You asked. Nanami lifted your chin up forcing you to look at him, “Don’t worry I’ll handle it. Fix yourself up then we’ll go see him.” He said cooly.

The arrival back at the Hideaway was grim—Ultima still had  one more challenge left. The sudden presence of the Crystal in the sky had not gone unnoticed at the hideaway as everyone bombarded the group with questions. It was known as Origin and it seemed like Ultima was luring Clive and Joshua to it. Your home was gone—Twinside was wiped off the map and you were powerless to do anything. Dion seemed to be taking it even harder than you were. As of now there was no way to get to Origin so Otto told everyone to go away and clear their heads.
Days passed as Clive and Jill left the Hideaway to help soothe the worries of their allies but you stayed behind with Joshua. You couldn't help but notice that Joshua had been treating you with extra care. Then one day he approached you as you were studying an old text book, "______, are you busy?" He asked rounding the corner. Marking your place before shutting the book you looked up shaking your head, "Mm no what's the problem?" You asked smiling warmly at him. He shook his head, "No problem. I just wanted to take you somewhere." He said flashing you a warm smile. You raised a brow as you pushed your seat back standing up, "Okay where's that?" You asked curiously tilting your head. He shook his head once more, "It's a surprise. Come grab your things and meet me at the docks. let's hurry before the sun begins to set." He said walking away down the boat docks. You thought it was suspicious how secretive he was being but you were quite interested. Grabbing your weapon and satchel you rushed down to the docks and quickly got on the boat to an unknown destination. You kept pestering Joshua on where you were going but he didn't give in.
~•••~
Hiking up a small hill you panted, "Goodness Joshua this is quite the hike you've taken me on." You laughed softly. Joshua had already made it to the top, "Come on not much further my love!" He waved ushering you to hurry, "We're going to miss the sunset." He added. Huffing you picked up your pace, Finally you reached the top of the hill and joined him. the view was absolutely gorgeous wild flowers of various colors swaying gently in the wind as you overlooked the calm oceans of Oriflamme. "This is gorgeous Joshua. How did you stumble upon this? I've never been here despite it not being far from the old capital." You asked in amazement. "Jote and I found it during one of our many travels. Do you remember during your birthday celebration many years ago? A man gave you a bouquet of flowers and a note alongside it?" He asked the smile never leaving his face. You nodded, "Mhm vaguely." You replied. "That was me I was trying to give you a hint that I was still alive and I still loved you. I picked those flowers from this very spot. That day I saw you I nearly gave away my identity." He confessed shyly. It all made sense, it really was from him and you weren't going mad. "I-I thought i was going insane. I knew it was you." You said relief in your voice. It was true Joshua had never forgotten about you.
Joshua took a step towards you, "Close your eyes." He said softly. You obliged his request and shut them. You heard him rustle around around before he finally spoke, "Open." He said. When your eyes fluttered open you saw him on one knee and he held up a delicate silver ring beautiful gem in the center of it. You gasped your hand covering your mouth as you looked into Joshua's eyes in disbelief. "A-are you?" You asked voice wavering. He nodded, "Yes I am. ______, I have loved you since the day I met you. You're the only thing that kept me going all those years we were apart. This ring is a symbol of our love. Please will you do the honor of marrying me?" He said his eyes glistened with tears and his face a red as he looked at you with a charming smile. You nodded, "Yes oh goodness yes Joshua of course I'll marrying you!" You cried out as you fell into his arms tumbling onto the plush grass below. You were crying happy tears as you laid on top of him, Joshua peppering your face with soft kisses. Slowly you two sat up sitting now in the field of flowers. "Your hand love." He said. You held it out as he slipped the ring onto your finger. "I'm the happiest man alive ______ and I have you to thank for it. I pray this ring will remind you of how much I loved you even when I'm gone." He said pressing a kiss to your hand. You frowned and your brows knitted together, something about his words made you feel nervous. It was as if he was prepping for the worst to happen—like he was dying. "Joshua is there something you're not telling me?" You asked voice quiet as you squeezed his hand. His thumb rubbed circles on the top of your hand and he shook his head, "No, it's just with my illness I never know how bad it will get. I love you ______ and I don't plan on leaving you ever. So please don't worry." He tried to reassure you. You believed him and nodded, "O-okay. I love you too Joshua." You smiled leaning forward to press a kiss to his lips.
Joshua looked at you taking in every detail of your face, he was dying and something in him warned him he may not come back from Origin. He wanted to remember this moment forever; the way your ___ eyes looked in sunset, your long ____ hair gently blowing in the breeze, soft lips, and the cutest nose, he loved the beauty marks and faint scars that were on your face and body. He wanted to remember it all just in case he had to go away for a long while. That night Joshua made love to you it was slow and passionate, he wanted to always remember how you felt. He wished he wasn't dying so he could spend more time with you. He knew he was in the wrong for not telling you about his fate but it was better that way, he'd rather see you happy these last few days rather than sad and mournful. He was selfish.
~•••~
"I-I can't do that." You stammered back away, "I can't allow you to take Leviathan from me. I can help you kill Ultima but I can't without my Dominant." You shouted. Clive stepped closer to you, "______, I need your strength in order for me to kill Ultima. Please I am begging you." He pleaded. You felt like a cornered wild animal as your eyes darted between the men in front of you. "He's right ______, I've seen your hand the curse has spread to your knuckles you can barely hold your lance anymore. You were injured severely from the behemoth and you still haven't healed. You must give Leviathan up. Clive can help forge a future for everyone." Dion interjected his arms were crossed over his chest and he looked at you sternly. You turned to Joshua he looked at you sympathetically, "It's your choice ______. I won't let it be taken away from you forcibly." He said. You head was spinning; Dion was right you were weak—a shell of your former self. "Who am I without Leviathan? My dominant has been my entire purpose in life. I need leviathan if I am to help get the Empire back in order." You cried out. You wanted to run away; let Ultima sit and wait let the lands succumb to the blight you needed your Dominant.
Suddenly firm hands were placed on your shoulders and you were shaken. Joshua rushed forward but was stopped by Clive. "No wait." Clive said. "You're more than your damn dominant ______. The people respect you, you can unite the empire just by being you. The people adore you and would do anything you asked. I need you to stay behind and mend Storm's wounds after I'm gone." Dion said his voice was raised but he was pleading with you. You slowly met his gaze, your eyes wide, "After you're gone?" You asked slowly. He nodded, "Yes after I'm gone you're to take over the throne. I have let the Dragoons know and they await for your arrival. Terance will be by your side. I'll be taking Joshua and Clive to Origin. I must repent for the things I did to Twinside." He confessed. You shook your head, "No no Dion. We both did that!" You hated seeing him take the full burden for the city's destruction. Dion let you go and adverted his gaze, "No it's my burden to carry. I should of never dragged you into the throne room that day. I need you to live for yourself for once ______. That is my final order to you." He said. You stood there taking in everything Dion had said—his final command to you was to live for yourself and mend Storm's hurt, build a better future for the people. You had always blindly followed Dion, you were indebted to him for the kindness he had showed all those years as a lonely young girl in the Holy Empire; he showed you how to fight and control your Eikon and now you were to let him march to his death. But you knew Dion had come to terms with his possible death so you had to respect his wishes. "I understand." You said walking past Dion and Joshua to Clive. You could build a better world with Joshua by your side.
"Very well Leviathan is yours. Please use it to destroy Ultima and for you all to come back home. Please Clive." You said weakly but you managed to smile at him. The brunett looked at you nodding, "Of course. I promise to bring all of us back home safely." Clive smiled. Reaching his hand out he hovered it above your heart. You winced as you felt the power drain from you a grunt leaving your mouth. Finally it was over all your powers had been taken away, you collapsed to the ground Joshua rushing to your side. He brushed away the hair that had fallen in front of your face, "That was a selfless thing to do ______. I'm so proud of you." He praised caressing your cheek gently. You sighed nodding, "I just want you to come home safe, please." You wheezed out.
"I promise I will." Joshua's word felt hollow.
~•••~
It was time to say your goodbyes it was time for Joshua, Clive, and Dion to make for Origin. Everyone had gathered to say their goodbyes and to wish them luck. But you clung to Joshua's side you couldn't bear the thought of him heading to face a god but you had to trust him that he would come back to you. Joshua held your face in his hands as he pressed his forehead against yours, "_______, I promise I'll to come back to you. After all we haven't had our wedding." He laughed softly. Tears pricked the corner of your eyes but you held them back you had to be strong, "I'll be holding you to that promise. Joshua I love you." You tried to laugh but you couldn't. As Clive yelled out that it was time to go you and Joshua gazed into each other's eyes one last time before he pressed his lips against yours. He pulled away too soon and he slipped out of your grasp, "I love you _______. I'll be back before the dawn." He smiled walking towards Clive. You turned to Dion and hugged him, "Dion I promise to make our dreams come true of creating a equal world. Please try to come back Dion. Thank you for everything." You said as you pulled away. Dion smiled, "I know you will ______. Please find Terance for me." He said he ruffled your hair before walking away. Finally you walked to Clive and hugged him, "Clive you best make good use of leviathan's powers. And I'm trusting you to make sure you all come back home safely." You joked. Clive chuckled nodding, "Of course ______. Thank you." He said.
You watched as they flew off towards Origin. You wanted to run after Joshua and scream but you couldn't instead silent tears streaming down your face. Jill collapsed to the floor as Torgal howled it was an awful feeling to see Joshua leave once more.

Stonehyrr you were finally here, Drake's spine glowing against the dark cloudy lightening filled sky as if it was a premonition of what was to happen. The streets were lined with decaying bodies it smelt awful. You covered your nose with your hand as you carefully walked over the bodies, fortunately it seemed like the corpses only littered the front half of the long bridge. "This is awful." You muttered. Joshua hummed in agreement but before any other conversation could begin roaring from ocrs echoed. Of course you were greeted by a hoard of Akashic and orcs but you all breezed through them without hardly as much breaking a sweat. The capital was so close you had no time to waste on Akashic. "We're almost there let's hurry." Joshua said quickening his pace as he came to the end of the bridge. Torgal ran ahead of the group abruptly stopping, his ears went back as he bared his fangs growling. Clive held his arm out stopping you and Joshua, "Wait." He said reaching for his sword. You followed his actions readying your lance as you got into a defensive position. "Up there!" Joshua shouted pointing his finger at the large horned monster that stood as one last obstacle on the gates that would lead you into the city. "A behemoth!" You and Joshua said in shocked unison. It's loud roar echoed through the air, the ground vibrating. It was madness to see a beast like that tamed—Barnabas, Ultima they truly were mad!
The beast didn't give any of you time to strategize, it's dark body glowed blue before it roared again fire balls forming in the sky as it was sent crashing down towards the group. Joshua was the first to react as he rushed forward, holding his hands up to form a shield around all of you but it barely held as the flames broke through raining around you and destroying the bridge—your only escape! Joshua collapsed to the ground, Clive rushing forward to help Joshua to his feet before the beast came down. It was do or die. Taking a deep breath you readied yourself. The beast lunged towards you first no doubt thinking you were the weakest target. You rolled out it's reach a wake of water trailing behind you, you were only mere inches from its grasp. Hurrying back to your feet you swung your lance sending sharp daggers of water at it. Joshua stayed back casting spells while Clive attacked it from behind, Torgal following Clive's commands. You were the distraction much to your dismay. Rolling, stabbing, spell casting, that was the rotation you were on having no time to think. You stumbled back once again narrowly avoiding the beast's grasp as you began to conjure water-Then suddenly without warning you were swept off your feet and tossed in the air a sharp pain shot through your abdomen as it's horn threatened to impale you. Then you slammed to the ground the breath getting knocked out of you. "______!" Clive and Joshua yelled but the monster gave them no time to check up on you as it jumped backwards roaring once again as it sent a giant fireball towards the group. Joshua rushed forward to conjure a ward but was too weak. Blood pooled at the corners of his mouth and he spat eventually collapsing to his knees hand gripping his chest as he tried to breathe. You could do nothing to help Joshua as you laid on the ground blood slowly oozing at the corner of your mouth—you were injured but you weren't sure where. Torgal circled you protectively howling as he tried to mend your wounds. This is it. You thought solemnly so close to the end but yet you all would die here from a behemoth.
Your ____ eyes watched as the two brothers joined forces their bodies illuminating a red orange glow. They managed to destroy the fireball thus saving them for the time being. You slowly got to knees using your lance for support, it wasn't dead yet but you couldn't lay on the ground as collateral. Grimacing through the pain you managed to only get one knee off the ground. As the beast tried to regain its momentum, Joshua took it as an opportunity to check on you. He turned his head and let out a startled gasp upon seeing your bloodied bruised body, "______, are you okay?!" He shouted. You waved him off, "I'm okay keep fighting!" You shouted back. You were in the way at this point a liability. "Go boy." You shooed off Torgal who whined in response. "I'll be okay." You tried to reassure the wolf. Taking a deep slow breath you held your hand over the water allowing it to take you under its surface. Leviathan dominants had the capability to breathe under the water for a short time at least. So you'd have to rest in the waves until you were strong enough or until they defeated the behemoth.
You floated in the cold water, eyes closed the water slowly mending your wounds. I'm getting weaker. You thought. In the past your wounds healed in a matter of minutes from being in the water but this wasn't taking minutes you were still bleeding dying the water red around you. Lifting your gloved right hand up you slowly opened your eyes, thick lashes clouding your vision. It was this damn curse that was causing you to grow weaker more useless. You wondered how it looked now how far it had spread. Closing your eyes again you sighed, I should rest. You thought.
Meanwhile, the behemoth had finally been slayed Joshua panted heavily as wiped his sword of blood. His eyes scanned around trying to find you but when he didn't he began to panic, "Torgal where's ______?!" He shouted. Torgal ran to the edge of the bridge where you had been as barked into the water. Clive and Joshua rushing over, Joshua dropped to his knees as he peered into the water he saw your body floating beneath the surface. You looked so serene so content. "______! Wake up! We must hurry!" He shouted. Torgal barking as Clive joined in shouting at you.
Muffled shouting is what drew you out of half asleep half awake state. You tried to ignore it, Stop I just want to sleep. You thought. "______, please wake up! I need you!" Joshua's voice shouted. It was that that shot you awake, you gasped as you saw him, Clive, and Torgal looking at you from the surface. I can't sit around feeling sorry for myself. People need me. You thought sighing you swam up to the surface you gasped for oxygen yet again another sign you were growing weak. "Take my hand." Joshua said reaching for you, you gratefully took it wincing in pain as he pulled you to the surface. You were soaking wet but with a snap of your fingers you used magic to pull the excess water from your clothes and body. You were practically dry again, "I apologize. Let us go." You nodded giving them a confident yet weak smile.
The waves of monsters did not let up as you all made your way closer and closer to the Crystal. The city was completely abandoned not a single soul left—it was devastating to see what was once a bustling kingdom be left to rot. It made you wonder what Barnabas truly saw in trusting Ultima. "We're so close." You said as the doors to the inner sanctum were within view. Your body was weak you just wished for this to end you weren't sure how much hoards of monsters you could handle. Clive sheathed his sword as did you and Joshua, it seemed like the boards of monsters had finally been cleared. Panting heavily you rest your palms on your knees as you caught your breath, "Just a little more my love and we're there." Joshua encouraged placing his hand on your back. You looked up at him offering the blond a lopsided smile but before you could speak Clive took out his sword, "There's more?!" He said in disbelief, "I'll use Ifrit." He began walking forward his body slowly glowing red. "No! You must save your strength!" Joshua warned. You straightened yourself out and shook your head, "No I'll use Leviathan you two go on ahead." You said sternly, letting the power course through your body you began to glow a dark blue. "No!" Joshua shouted this time he sounded distressed. He couldn't let you nor his brother use their Eikons it was too dangerous.
As you turned to face the blond to argue the ground began to shake then suddenly the wall blew open. Revealing the Enterprise! Out jumped your allies as they dealt devastating blows to the Akashic monsters  quickly dispelling all of them. Then your eyes landed on a familiar tuft of pale blond hair and you met warm amber eyes. You cried out dropping your lance as you rushed towards Dion jumping into his arms. You wrapped your arms around his chest and he held you tightly as you two embraced. "Dion! You're here! Thank goodness! Do you know how much you worried me?" You cried. Dion patted the back of your head chuckling as you two pulled apart, "I apologize for not telling you I was leaving ______. I had to go." He smiled warmly at you. You wiped your tears away shaking your head, "It's okay. I should of waited by your side but I—" you were cut off by him ruffling your hair, "It's okay no need to explain. I know you wanted to be by Joshua's side. I do not blame you at all." He said, his words were genuine as they always were when he spoke to you. "What of Terance and the Dragoons? Please tell me they are okay." You inquired worriedly. Dion nodded, "The Dragoons are fighting alongside Lord Byron. And as for.... Terance I dismissed him of his duty....in order to protect him." He explained but his voice wavered and gaze shifted at the mention of his lover. You knew better than to pry right now. "I understand." You simply said reaching out a hand and squeezing his bicep as a way to let the prince know you were there for him.
As everyone spoke a new found strength filled the group ever more excited to finally face with Ultima. But the reunion was cut short as a large swarm of Akashic began climbing over the walls. It felt never ending when it came to the Akashic beings—it was dreadful. A tough decision had to be made, you had to let Joshua go on ahead without you. You were in no shape to face against Ultima alongside Joshua and Clive so you stayed back, "Joshua just go please!" You shouted at him. He seemed panicked as he shook his head, "I..just don't do anything irrational. I'll be back _______!" He shouted as he rushed through the gates albeit hesitantly though he knew he had no time to argue he had to trust that you’d be safe.
Then, It happened so fast you heard Jill's scream and you spun on your heel just in time to see Joshua and Clive disappear in an instant Torgal jumping after them. You screamed as you rushed towards Ultima tears streaming down your face. He can't take Joshua away from you again! It wasn't fair! But Ultima disappeared with them without so much as glancing at you. You collapsed to your knees as Jill stood next to you. You buried your face in your hands as hot tears streamed down your face. "______, you must get up." She said her voice wavering as she tried to be strong. She was right the Akashic were unforgiving and you had to fight.
Wave after wave you all fought the Akashic monsters it seemed never ending but you noticed they slowly became more lethargic. You and Dion fought in unison. "Like the old days." You mumbled as you sliced through another fiend, Dion laughed in agreement. You two were perfectly in synched as you were used to each other’s fighting styles. "Oh fuck." Gav said snapping you two out of trance of fighting. You followed his gaze and eyes widened in shock, "What the..." you could only breathe out as you stared at the floating crystal in the sky. Jill noticed the aether flowing towards it, glowing streaks in flying through the air all to the point of origin. While in your daze Dion sliced through the two Akashic beings coming from behind you, you flinched as you closed ranks with the others. Then a ball of light manifested in front of you and suddenly Joshua, Clive, and Torgal were there looking just as confused as you all. "Joshua! Clive!" You and Jill shouted but it was Jill who rushed towards them. It was like a switch had been flipped fighting by Dion's side again you awaited his orders not daring to leave his side despite the urge to go rushing into Joshua's arms. You and Dion sliced at more Akashic as Clive yelled at Mid to start the ship. It was time to leave, now. "_____ come!" Joshua shouted motioning with his hand for you to follow. But you froze looking at the prince at your side. "Go I'll join you shortly." Dion ordered. You swallowed hard and nodded rushing towards Joshua and onto the ship.
Once on the ships decks you pulled Joshua into an embrace as you hugged him tightly burying your face in the crook of his neck. He was safe and he was here. "Thank goodness you're alright." You whispered as your hands ran through his hair. Joshua held you protectively in his arms, "I told you I wouldn't leave you alone again."

Waloed's seas were harsh unforgiving unlike the calm familiar waters that surrounded the Holy Empire. Despite you feeling the most at peace when near water something in you felt dread being in these unfamiliar waves, Joshua could tell. "You're nervous, aren't you?" He asked walking to your side as you stood on the upper decks of the Enterprise watching the ocean. You hummed in reply, "Yes, I am. The closer we get to Ash the worse I feel. Waloed...I feel as if something terrible will happen there." You confessed, maybe you were overthinking things. Joshua placed his hands on top of yours and shook his head, "Everything will be okay. You need to rest love, your lack of sleeping has been messing with your head." He offered a smile trying to comfort you. Sighing you agreed with him, "Yes perhaps you're right. A lot has happened I'm very overwhelmed as of late." You offered him a weak smile as you pushing your hair out of your face. "It's to be expected. I'll join you later I'm going to talk to Clive for a bit." He said leaning down to press a delicate kiss to your lips before you left to go to bed. Instantly falling asleep as soon as your head hit the plush pillow.
The morning came and so did the time for you to depart the ship and begin making your way through Ash to the capital.
You held your lance tightly in your hand anticipating that something would pop out and attack as you followed behind the group. Your eyes scanned the horizon, head on a constant swivel. At this rate following the cliff side to the capital would take weeks and it seemed as if Gav read your mind. "It'll be a long walk if we follow the cliffs. I'll go on ahead, scout somethin' out." He said rushing ahead. You paused noticing the tension between Clive and Joshua shift, Torgal grunted looking up at you. You made eye contact with the two brothers and coughed clearing your throat, "I'll look ahead also, come Torgal." You said clicking your tongue at the wolf, walking past the two brothers. Torgal whined at Clive, "Go on boy." He commanded.
Torgal trailed walked next to you, as you wondered aimlessly along the jagged cliff walls. Nothing was of note, just greenery and rocks. "Something's off with em, don't you think?" You mumbled looking at Torgal next to you. He whined in response before yawning. You laughed, taking it as he agreed with you, "Guess we'll leave them be and just wait for Gav." You smiled leaning down to pat Torgal's head. His fur was soft and dense, he was obviously a well maintained wolf. Torgal nuzzled into your hand his tail wagging back and forth, he then nosed at the satchel that was around your waist. You clicked your tongue wagging a finger in the wolf's face, "Ah you're just being sweet to me to con me out of some food, sneaky dog." You scolded half heartedly. Torgal barked in reply. Sighing you reached into the satchel pulling out a dried meat stick breaking it in half and giving one half to Torgal and the other you ate. Torgal seemed mildly satisfied with the treat and rubbed his head on the side of your leg, no doubt begging for more but you wouldn't give in despite how adorable you found him. "Oi, Princess whatcha doing over here?" Gav asked he climbed down the cliff's face. You shrugged, "Killing time. Seemed like Joshua wanted to talk to Clive and the tension was killin me." You replied watching the blond man walk towards you. He sighed tossing his hands up, "They got lots to talk about I assume. Ah well let's go on back to them I found a way." He grinned stepping aside so you could lead the way.
As Clive and Joshua came back into view Torgal rushed towards them barking at the pair. You noticed something had shifted between the two the tension that was there had disappeared, you raised a brow looking at the blond. "Did I miss something?" Gav asked his eyes darting between the two men. Joshua and Clive exchanged laughs as they walked past Gav, "Only that Joshua didn't." Clive chuckled. Gav looked at you, "I don't get it." He mumbled, you shook your head shrugging your shoulders, "Me neither." You said turning to follow Joshua.
~•••~
Waloed was quiet but you still didn't let down your guard, you didn't know if Barnabas or this Ultima being were lurking in the shadows waiting for a chance to pounce so you stayed close by Joshua's side. Not much banter happened between the four of you it wasn't until you walked into the first village where you finally spoke, "What happened here?" You asked in disbelief voice barely above a whisper. The village was deserted and the town reeked of death—yet you saw no death— it was odd. Crows and vultures circled the sky above screeching as the group entered the town. Clive paused drawing his sword as did Joshua and Gav. You immediately took a defensive stance, lance in front of you. "I knew it. Only orcs and Akashic are here." Joshua hissed through gritted teeth as the first group of fiends came rushing forward. A switch flipped in your head and your body automatically went into survival mode as you swung you lance striking down on any enemy who dared approach you. Your lance was enveloped in water so each time you slashed a sharp wave would follow slicing and knocking the enemy down. Finally it seemed like the enemy was taken care of and it was then you noticed just how desolate Waloed was. "Do you think the villagers made it out?" You asked. "We can only hope." Clive responded.
After more trekking through the rough terrain and into a small cave you finally made it out on the other side but the sound of monsters groaning and screeching made it apparent that you all were not in the clear. Peering over the cliff side you gasped taking a step back. Hoarders of Akashic and ocrs surrounded the stronghold. You covered your mouth with your hand in disbelief. "Has all of Ash fallen into Ultima's hands?" Clive asked seemingly also in disbelief, he had taken the words right out of your mouth. Joshua stared solemnly at the hoard below, something in his brilliant blue eyes had shifted. "Are we too late?" You asked. "No, perhaps Stonehyrr still stands?" Gav suggested with a half hearted laugh. It was callous but you knew the scout was probably right. Clive brushed off your comments, "We continue onto Stonehyrr. The plan hasn't changed." He said moving past you and Joshua. He seemed determined as always, nothing seemed to deter him. "Wait Clive. You must go on without ______ and I. This stronghold is perhaps more ancient than Phoenix Gate. I wish to investigate it, it may shed some light on Ultima if we are to defeat him." Joshua explained. Clive seemed to contemplate for a minute a trouble expression washing over his tanned face for a brief moment before he nodded slowly, "Alright. Just stay out of trouble." He offered a weak smile at the blond. Joshua nodded returning the smile, "I always do at least mostly. Come ______ let's be on our way." He said. "Right!" You replied following after Joshua.
You followed closely behind Joshua as you two walked down the dark steep stairs of the Stronghold; a ball of flames being the only thing that illuminated the way. The stronghold radiated an ancient aura it seemed like Joshua thought the same also, "I knew it. This is as old as Phoenix Gate if not older. I pray we find some answers." He commented looking around in fascination. You hummed in reply, "Mhmm. Say, Joshua what did you and Clive talk about earlier?" You asked curiously as you gazed at the back of his head. He paused slowly turning to look up at you as he stood on the bottom steps, "He took Jill's Eikon. That's why she didn't come with us." He plainly said. You were taken aback and balled fist came to chest, "What? He forcibly took it from here? But why? Is that what he did to Dion also?" You asked the panic rising in your voice. Joshua waved his hands in front of him trying to calm you down, "Jill willingly gave it to him. Dion, I do not know if he took all of his powers but I don't think Clive took them intentionally. It seems like when one is weak—vulnerable he can absorb their powers. I don't quite get it myself." He tried explaining but his uncertainty only made you more anxious. "Will he take mine too?" You asked voice barely above a whisper. You couldn't imagine a world without your Eikon; in your mind Leviathan was a vital part of your being it was your whole purpose! Having Leviathan taken from you, you would feel like a part of your soul and self worth would be ripped away. You were born with Leviathan and you'd die with her. Joshua shook his head placing his hands on your shoulders, "No no ______, I won't let him. I told him he can't take Leviathan from you." He said reassuring you that things would be okay. Your brows furrowed in sadness and you nodded slowly, "O..okay I trust you, Joshua." You mumbled. He nodded smiling as his hands removed themselves from your shoulders and up to cup your face, he placed a gentle kiss on your soft lips sealing the promise to protect you.
Finally you both came to the end of the staircase and door stood in front of you. Joshua stepped forward pushing the door open, the wooden door slowly creaked open as dust flew through the air. No one had been down here in a very long time; the air was stuffy and smelled stale. "______, stay here I'll be back." Joshua ordered as he stepped into the room the doors shutting behind him with a loud thud. You sighed pacing up and down the small hallway nervously awaiting for him to return. It seemed like hours had passed as you waited, you eventually opting to sit down and closing your eyes for a quick nap.
The sound of the doors creaking open shot you awake as you quickly got to your feet weapon in hand. Joshua stumbled out looking dazed. His eyes were glazed over and then you noticed crimson red liquid staining his mouth. "Joshua!" You shouted rushing towards him, wrapping your arms around him you pulled him to his knees as your eyes rapidly examined him. "Who attacked you?!" You asked as your hands pawed his body looking for a sign of a wound but there was none. He grabbed your wrist shaking his head, "No one. It's alright my love." He said voice hoarse and shakey. His hand left your wrist and you noticed blood staining the black leather gloves, it was the same spot where his hand was. You paid no mind instead reaching into your satchel pulling out a silly white embroidered handkerchief, reaching up you began to wipe the blood off his chin and mouth. "Your illness acted up?" You asked gently. "Mhm...sorry for worrying you." He replied quietly. You shook your head, " 'is okay. Here let me get your medicine." You said putting the handkerchief away and pulling out a small glass vile of medicine. Joshua took it swallowing the bitter mixture, his mind kept flashing to things he had discovered in the room. He couldn't even manage to meet your gaze afraid to tell you the truth. "What happened in there? Did you get some answers?" You asked. He shook his head once again, blond hair falling in front of his face, "I'm still trying to decipher it. Come let's go find the others." He avoided the question standing to his feet. You watched him get to his feet and you couldn't help but feel like he was lying to you. Then the building shook and you heard rumbling from above, "let's hurry before this place collapses." You muttered standing to your feet while adjusting your satchel. You began climbing the stairs following closely behind Joshua, his ball of flames seemed to glow more dimly. "Oh, ______ please don't tell Clive." He said. "Mhm." You hummed.
~•••~
A petite pregnant woman named Edda seemed to be sole survivor in all of Waloed it was strange. You sat by her side trying to comfort her offering her a glass of cold water but she was shell shocked traumatized by whatever horrors she had seen. She wouldn't lift her head instead gazing blankly at the wooden floorboards and holding her round belly. "I'm gonna leave the glass right here, okay?" You smiled warmly at her setting that water on the table before standing up and walking towards Joshua. He stared out the window at the intimidating tower that no doubt Clive was in. "Do you think he can kill Barnabas?" You hissed quietly. Greagor knows you'd do anything to have that man dead after what he did to you. The countless nights you spent waking in horror covered in sweat, the months you spent recovering both mentally and physically, and you couldn't forget that the man had forced you to use so much aether both times you encountered him that you had started the curse. Luckily it had only manifested at the tips of fingers on your right hand which stayed gloved for most of the time so you were able to keep it a secret for now at least.
Joshua looked at you from the corner of his eyes briefly not wanting to take his eyes off the tower. "I think he can. He's stronger than ever now." He sounded confident, "______, you never told me, why are you so fearful of Barnabas?" He asked quietly as to not alert the others. You placed your hands on the window sill, finger nails digging into the soft wood, a shakey breath left your mouth, "He nearly killed me it was forever ago but it still haunts me. At the time I did not know why he left me alive, he only said I needed to get stronger for Mythos. Which now I know Mythos is Clive. I was so scared to step back into a battlefield, my wounds were grievous and seemed to not want to heal despite be going to the healing waters of Leviathan. Odin's blade had burned itself into me. I couldn't sleep for weeks and weeks because of the pain mixed with nightmares. I used so much magic both times and couldn't even defeat him. I hate him for making me feel so weak and a laughing stock. I embarrassed both myself, the Dragoons, and Dion." You confessed. Joshua frowned and placed his gloved hand on top of yours, "______, you're too harsh on yourself. Dion isn't embarrassed of you for not being able to defeat Odin. That man—Barnabas he is no doubt fueled by Ultima giving him unnatural strength. Only Clive can defeat him that I'm sure of." He said squeezing your hand. You looked up at him smiling weakly, "Thank you Joshua." You said.
Clive's presence was announced by Torgal barking, Joshua quickly rushed to the door just as it opened. The brunette stepping in he walked to Joshua placing a firm hand on his shoulder, "It's a damn good sight to you Joshua. I'm alright." He said. Clive looked a little warn out but he was fine only looking like he got into a small scuffle, there truly was something special him. "Did you kill him?" You asked a bit overly excited. He turned to looked at you nodding, "Yes, the king is dead.". You nearly collapsed to the ground in relief, your palm resting over your heart, "Thank goodness. Thank you Clive." The weight of fear had been lifted off your chest now you nor anyone else would ever have to encounter that mad man again.
~•••~
The sun was beginning to set over the horizon when Edda finally spoke coming to terms slowly with what had happened. Gav had been hovering around her non stop, he seemed to have a soft spot of women especially ones that were in distress. Now that she seemed well enough to walk on her own she would be heading off back to the Enterprise, the blond scout guiding her. You had gathered a large satchel of items from her home, since you weren't sure when she'd be back. "Here are some of her belongings. Edda." You said placing the bag in Gav's arms before turning to face the dark haired woman, "I packed some portraits and things that seemed sentimental for you. I'm sorry I can't do more." You said. This wasn't the first time you had been through a town that had been ravaged and it wasn't your first time dealing with those in distress, you understood how to deal with these situations. She sniffled bowing her head, "Thank you Princess." She said. You waved your hands dismissively, "Please no need to address me so formally nor bow to me." You said awkwardly. "Alright let's go goin." Gav said waving goodbye to you three.
It was then Clive explained Barnabas' ambitions the meaning of him turning his own kingdom into ruin. You clenched your fist, "What a fool." You muttered spinning on your heel walking towards the capital without waiting for Joshua or Clive. You couldn't believe the king thought turning innocents into Akashic was a mercy, he was a man with wild ambitions to save the world and he fell into Ultima's trap.

The four of you, plus Torgal, were nearly half way to Tabor but the sun had quickly set forcing you to camp out for the night. You and Joshua laid together, Torgal cuddling close it was instinctive as if the wolf knew you both were frail. Jill and Clive were off in the distance speaking to one another. "You're ill Joshua." You mumbled tracing your fingers on his chest. He flinched, "I know. But I'll be okay." He tried to reassure you. You had finally seen caught a glimpse of what he hiding under his shirt— a dark glowing crystal incased in his chest. You were no fool that thing looked parasitic, you did not like it any bit it only heightened your anxiety. "I've had this for a long time do not worry dear." He said grabbing your hand to move it away from his chest. You sighed, "How could I not worry? You coughed up blood again. Stop using magic." You frowned. "Don't worry, please." He flashed you a smile before placing a kiss to the top of your hand. You couldn't help but feel like that thing was draining his life away.

Arriving in Tabor you soon met with Jote as she and Joshua explained the full details of the Undying. Joshua also revealed Ultima's true plan; his purpose of creating Dominants. You felt dread wash over your body; Ultima was a god and he wasn't pleased his subjects were disobeying him. He wanted something from Clive and it seemed he had no problem in destroying everything that stood in his path. You felt sick to your stomach by the idea of having to confront a god like being. But you'd deal with that when the time came—if it ever came. You fidgeted with you fingers as Joshua dismissed Jote from her service. You couldn't help but feel a smidge of jealously upon seeing the brunette, she was kind and had been there to take care of Joshua for all those years. You felt like you didn't deserve Joshua, she did. You could tell by the way she looked at him how her eyes glimmered—she was enamored with him.
"Jote can we speak?" You asked before she left the building. She nodded and you followed her outside. Though you were overcome with petty jealousy you couldn't help but notice when you made eye contact with her she gave you nothing but a warm smile. "His highness has been looking forward to seeing you once again. I'm grateful you two were able to be with one another. I hope I have not done anything to offend you." She said bowing her head. Her kind words were laced with a thin veil of sadness which made you feel far more guilty. You clicked your tongue and waved your hands dismissively, "P-please lady Jote no need to bow to me. It should be I bowing to you. I'm eternally grateful for you. I am in both your and the Undying's debt for caring for Joshua all years. When..when I couldn't be there. Thank you." You stammered bringing the girl into a hug. Her dark eyes widened in shock and she awkwardly returned the hug before you pulled away. "I apologize I'm just grateful. Please have a safe journey." You cleared your throat before walking off to join Joshua's side. Jote titled her head in amusement and laughed softly to herself; she never expected the Princess of Sanbreque to thank her nonetheless hug her.

The free cities were just as you suspected them to be— total chaos. But you saw a familiar face that you had not seen in many years. Lord Byron he embraced you with open arms expressing how happy he was to see you and Joshua together once again. You also met two faces—Mid an eccentric girl and Gav a kindhearted scout. Though the happy reunion did not last long as Gav had explained the dire situation. Akashic creature overtaking the city and they seemed to be controlled. You couldn't help but feel nervous but if there was a chance that people could be alive you'd venture into the city to help save them. "I'll go with Joshua and Jill." You volunteered not wanting to leave his side. Clive shook his head, "Actually _____ I was hoping you'd go with Mid to help with the ship." He said. You shook your head, "I know nothing about ships. I can fight though, I'm a dragoon." You began to say defensively. "______, Clive's right. If a group of Akashic start making their way to the ship before Mid can start it you can use your abilities to push the ship into the ocean." Joshua said. You frowned and clenched your fists spinning on your heel, "Fine. Just be safe. Come show me where this ship is." You marched out of the room. "She's just as I remember." Byron laughed following behind you.
You paced around the deck, lance in hand awaiting for Joshua's return. "Are you almost done?" You shouted at Mid. "It takes time princess!" She shouted back. You clicked your tongue in annoyance. A few minutes and you heard footsteps in the distance, you readied your weapon but out came from the shadows Joshua dragging Clive's limp body Torgal barking as he ran up to you. Quickly you sheathed your lance and rushed towards the pair helping drag Clive into the an abandoned building. "Where's Jill?" You asked. Joshua shook his head, "Holding off Barnabas." He said. You couldn't help but notice the blood trail that oozed behind Clive and you gulped nervously setting him on the bed. You paced nervously outside the building keep watch as Gav addressed Clive's wounds. It was nightfall by the time Joshua had come to grab you, "He's awake. We're going after Jill and we'll need your help." He said. You brows knitted together concern washing over your face, "He really took her didn't he? We are no match for King Barnabas, Joshua. We can't go after her." You pleaded cupping his hands in yours.
"What do you mean no match?" Clive asked limply slowly towards you. You shook your head wildly, "Dion...he can barely stand toe to toe with him. We have to get him before he transforms into Odin." You warned. "We'll be in the ocean. You have the advantage my dear _______!" Byron chimed in. You couldn't help but view their optimism as naïveté. "I'm scared of him." You whispered only loud enough for Joshua to hear. He gave you a sympathetic smile, "I'll be right there with you." He said quietly giving your hands a reassuring squeeze. Joshua only knew vaguely of your encounter with Odin he never realized how far the trauma went.
~•••~
With Leviathan's abilities you were able to help move along the ship even faster and sooner than later the ship finally caught up with Barnabas' ship. You nearly froze at the sight knowing that the king was on there. "______ slam us into them!" Mid shouted from the helm. She sounded far too eager for your liking. Joshua gave you a reassuring nod and you quickly moved the waves to slam into the side of the ship. You stumbled from the empathy but Joshua quickly grabbed you helping you back into your feet. "Go!" Joshua shouted at his brother who quickly hopped off the ship alongside Torgal. Suddenly an ear piercing scream left your mouth causing Joshua to snap his head in the direction of what had caused your fear. You cowered behind Joshua which only earned a laugh from the king, "Leviathan did I not say we'd meet again? I expect you to be stronger this time." He said. Joshua stood defensively in front of you holding his arm out, "Leave her alone. You want her you go through me." He said, his voice was ice cold anger seeping through. Your reaction to see Odin was all Joshua needed to know that whatever had happened to you it instilled a primal fear in you.
"Get her away!" Joshua shouted at Gav who quickly grabbed you by the arm dragging you away from the fight that was going to no doubt ensue. You sat in a corner covering your ears with your arms as your buried your face in your knees. You tried blocking out the sounds of Joshua and Odin fighting above deck. Gav shook your gently, "Ohhh come on Princess. You haveta go out there and help him!" He pleaded trying to snap you out of your dissociative state. Minutes passed as Gav pleaded but it was only the sound of the Phoenix screeching that made you snap out of your daze. "Joshua!" You shouted standing to you rushing to the top deck.  There you saw Odin in his full form sitting upon the black stallion a glowing black and crimson sword at his side. Flashbacks flooded into your mind, balled fists in your hair as you tried to calm yourself. Then you saw Odin preparing to swing his sword and you knew then you had to help Joshua even if it meant your death. You ran off the deck, Mid shouting your name but you ignored her. You closed your eyes as you fell into the water. The cold ocean embraced your frail body wrapping you in it's comforting warmth. The ocean wasn't a cold terrifying place to you, it was comforting like a mother's love.
Joshua dodged Odin's swings he then noticed a large shadow lurking under the water. It can't be! He thought. Suddenly a serpentine like creature jumped out of the water a large tidal wave slamming into Odin. ______! Leviathan! Joshua was in utter disbelief to see your Dominant taking the battlefield. The way you maneuvered in and out the water was breathtaking. It could be describe as watching a ballet dancer, your movements were graceful and precise everything was done with a purpose. With new found strength you and Joshua battled Odin but yet it would not be enough. He was too strong for you and Joshua's fragile states—you both had not yet fully recovered from your injuries from the Dominion. It was the Phoenix who went down first as he took the force from Odin's slice. The sea had parted it was unlike anything you had ever seen before. You noticed the ship beginning to fall into the parted sea and quickly pushed it away from the crater. Your body was exhausted and once everyone was safe you returned back to ship's deck soaking wet.
Night had fallen, the moon and Metia illuminating the sky. You sat with Joshua in the candlelit quarters below deck mending his surface wounds. "You should of never taken that directly. You could died." You scolded tightening the bandages. Joshua winced, "I had to protect everyone, I had to protect you." He mumbled in reply. You sighed shaking your head, "We're okay and that's all that matters. I'm positive Clive and Jill are too. Mid is looking really hard for the two." You said. Joshua only hummed in reply, he turned his head looking out of the small window watching the ocean waves gently swish back and forth. "You were brave for facing Odin ______. Whatever the extent of your fear towards Odin was it seems like you conquered it. I don't know what he did to you but I am happy that you came out to fight alongside me." He said turning to face you. He brushed his slender fingers through your silky hair pushing a stand behind your ear. He smiled warmly at you but you could not help but notice how beautiful he looked under the moonlight. The soft light illuminating his pale skin, you leaned forward pressing a kiss to his chapped lips before pulling away and touching foreheads. "Thank you."

Jill, Clive, and Torgal were found stranded on the coast of Ash the next morning. You noticed how different the pair seemed perhaps something had happened between the two but dare not pry. Now that the two were safe it was time to sail back to the Hideaway. It was obvious to you that Joshua was not well—it seemed like these days he was often not feeling well and it greatly concerned you.
Upon arriving to the Hideaway you were met with distressing news. Without a second though you grabbed Tarja by the collar, "You let him go?! In his current state? He'll die!" You cried out. Clive went to pull you away but Tarja simply held her hand up stopping the man, she didn't flinch as she met your eyes, "He left there was nothing I could do to stop him, I'm sorry Princess." She explained. You let go of her collar and back away shaking your head as your hands covered your face. Dion was gone you weren't sure where he was but you could safely assume he was going back to the Crystalline Dominion. "I have to go find him." The panic began to set in as you began to walk down the steps towards the boatman. Clive chased after you only finally catching up when you were at the docks. "______, stop." He said sternly grabbing your forearm and forcing you to face him. His thick brows were furrowed and his grip was tight on your arm. You tried shaking him but to no avail. "You're being rash." He hissed through gritted teeth, "You're in no shape also to be chasing after his highness. You do not even know where he is. You know Dion best, correct? Then you must trust him to do what he needs to do." He said.
"Clive please I must go. Dion has been by my side through everything I can't abandon him. I can't let him face the destruction of the Dominion by himself. We both destroyed the city—" your pleading was cut short by Clive. "Joshua needs you!" He shouted. You were taken aback at the sudden outburst, mouth agape. "It's wrong to leave especially when Joshua is still resting." He added, his eyes were pleading. You broke out of the brunette's grasp and walked passed him, "Fine. You win. But leveraging Joshua against me was a dirty play Clive." You muttered returning back to upper levels of the hideaway passing by Jill on the way, she gave you a small smile mouthing "Thank you.". Clive stood watching you making sure you were really staying before he sighed rubbing his temples an audible groan leaving his lips. "______'s been put into a tough situation having to choose between Joshua or Dion whom was by her side for all these years. It was a little rude to make her choose." Jill's soft voice came from behind him. Clive shook his head, "Jill I—" he began. "But I'm glad you convinced her to stay, thank you." She added placing a gentle kiss to Clive's forehead.
~•••~
Evening came and Joshua was awake once again mended by Tarja. He sat next to you on the plush bed overlooking the lake, aqua eyes glistening ever so slightly from the moon's light bouncing off the water. Blond hair blowing gently from the breeze. You sat beside him, head resting on his bare shoulder, arms wrapped his. You wished moments like this could last forever but soon you'd be departing to Ash—an unknown territory. Greagor only knows what lies ahead you only prayed that nothing terrible would befall your beloved. You were selfish, you knew it and you were certain the others noticed. Joshua was first, you put him ahead of everyone and thing so if it meant him or everyone else living—you knew what decision you'd make. Perhaps that was why you felt even more nervous than usual about going to Ash; it wasn't King Barnabas who scared you necessarily, certainly he added onto your fear but this Ultima being something deep in you told you that the Phoenix—that Joshua was connected to him in some way just as was Clive or rather known as Mythos by Barnabas. It was for those very reasons that you could not stay behind and guard the Enterprise per Clive's orders you had to stay by Joshua's side.
"You look troubled my love." Joshua's gentle voice broke you out of your thoughts. His thumb rubbing circles on your the top of your hand. You did not meet his gaze, instead still focusing on the gentle waves ahead. "I am truth be told. I won't sit behind while you, Clive, and Gav venture into unknown territory. I can fight. Why can't you all see that? I'm a dragoon, I've been in many battles—I'm valuable." You confessed voice trailing off. The truth was you've felt you lost some purpose in your life after the Dominion fell. It was strange to not be awaiting orders from Dion. It was odd to be told what to do when you typically were the one giving orders, mapping out battle strategies. You felt insignificant in a way; no one batted an eye seeing you despite your status no one asked for your input despite your experience it was obvious you were an outsider here at the Hideaway; Joshua was the only reason for you staying here. If it meant being at his side you'd be with him even in the worse place of all an eternal Purgatory.
Joshua sighed nodding, "I figured that was what was botherin' you. Very well I have no complaints with you being by my side. I know you're capable, in fact I believe you may be the most skilled person here." He said. You huffed blowing the strand of hair that laid on your face up a pout making its way to your lips, "You flatter me Joshua." You couldn't help but smirk. Joshua seemed rather pleased with himself and nudged your side with his elbow, "There we go. You look much prettier when you're not pouting around." He laughed softly. "So you'll accomplish me to the ancient ruins? I'm afraid they won't be too interesting." He asked. "Obviously they're interesting enough if you wish to explore them—so of course I'll go with you. I was going to regardless." You smiled. You were also curious on what the ancient ruins would hold in store, you only prayed that they'd hold good news instead of the latter.

All good things must come to an end, that was a lesson you had learned early in life. Joshua's sudden reveal had more meaning behind it, he revealed the hidden enemy and it possessed the Holy Kingdom of Sanbreque. You felt...angry? Joshua's presence should of been happy, that was going to be the both of yours happy ending but it wasn't. You sobbed throwing a book across the room, "You're leaving me! You're a liar! You wouldn't of ever revealed yourself to me if it wasn't for this Ultima! You would of left me to rot in my misery." You cried out collapsing to the ground burying your face in your hands. You felt betrayed by the only person you loved. Joshua shook his head, "______, I'm not leaving you alone again. It's only temporary. It's so we can reveal Ultima, show his majesty the real truth! Please, love...I couldn't leave you again." He tried to calm you down. Slowly crouching down to his knees and placing a hand in your shoulders. You flinched, terrified of the events that would unfolds I don't want to but it must be done...if we ever have a chance of being with one another we must take care of this problem now." He tried rationalizing. You weakly nodded, "I know..." you mumbled. You wrapped your arms around him, "I just can't loose you again." You confessed. Joshua held you tightly, "And you won't." He whispered back placing a kiss against your forehead.
You left Joshua's side briefly to be with Dion as he confronted his father. You had to be there for Dion just as he had been for you was all these years. You held your lance tightly in your hand it stained with blood from those who had tried to stop you two from entering the throne room. You marched behind Dion into the throne room, your body coursing with adrenaline. The ensuing chaos happening within the city by your fellow dragoons did not go unnoticed by his majesty. "After all we have given you? This is how you betray us ______?!" Emperor Sylvestre shouted at you. You shook your head, "N-no your majesty. I have not betrayed Sanbreque it is you that has." You retorted trying to hold your ground. "You both are fools." Olivier laughed. And then Everything turned into a blur. Dion confronting his father and then his father dying as he took the spear for Olivier. Your mind was spinning as Dion cried in distress. "Dion. Dion calm down!" You shouted holding your head. So much was happening; Olivier seemed like a totally different person and then your mind went blank.
When you came to it you heard screaming and the sound of flames crackling. "...are you even listening!? You ungrateful pathetic child!" Annabella screamed as she cowered in the corner holding onto Olivier. You looked up at her dazed, "Wha...?" You breathed out. "Quiet you!" Another female voice shouted, though it didn't seem directed towards you. You were so confused what had happened? It felt like something had taken over your body, you felt so weak. Am I dreaming? You thought.
Then a screech came from the sky, your eyes widened as you looked up. It was the Phoenix fighting..Bahumet?! "Joshua! Dion!" You shouted trying to get to your feet. "______, no you mustn't. Just relax." The same female from before cautioned. You looked at her, her grey hair shimmering from the flames that burned around the room. "Who..are you? What's happening?" You asked. Surely must be dreaming? You thought once again.
She smiled softly, "It's me, Jill. You can't summon Leviathan you may not be able to transform back to yourself. Joshua and Clive had enough trouble trying to calm you down." She said. You didn't process what the woman had said and instead drifted back to sleep once again against your will. Your body and mind were exhausted, you couldn't comprehend what was happening right now.
~•••~
Your eyes slowly fluttered open a groggy groan leaving your lips. You looked around the room it was unfamiliar, dimly lit, resembling a dungeon in some ways. "awake now, Princess? Don't move around too much." An unfamiliar red haired female said. Your body ached you wouldn't be able to move far anyways, "Where am I? Are you holding me for ransom?" You asked though your voice was hoarse it came out barely above a whisper. The woman laughed, "No, you're safe here though. Let me go grab someone I think you'd like to see, he'd be able to explain the situation better." She said exiting the room. You turned your head and saw both Joshua and Dion resting in beds beside you, they looked injured. You tried to get out of bed as panic began to set in. "Wake up." You tried shouting but your throat was so dry the words only squeaked out of you. When you tried to get out of the bed a wave of pain shot through you, you couldn't move. You couldn't help but wonder what had happened. This place was strange, the architecture was odd. This was certainly no place in the empire. The door opened once again and you heard multiple footsteps and low talking. You stiffened ready to fight for your life and your friends but then you saw the grey haired woman...Jill was her name, wasn't it? She looked so familiar but it couldn't be the Jill you had known. "Here she is Clive. Don't overwhelm her with information though. I'll be in the other room with other patients." The red haired woman said before stepping out.
"_______." The man named Clive said gruffly. His voice was rugged...this wasn't your Clive or Jill. "What the hell is going on?" You demanded sitting up in your bed fighting through the pain. "How are you feeling?" The man asked. You shook your head, "I'm fine now answer my question. Please." You begged. He sighed nodding looking at the woman named Jill. "_______, it's us. Clive and Jill the ones you know from the past. We're alive." She began.
"It's a very long story." Clive chimed in. Jill hummed in agreement, "You and I...we fought one another at the boarders many years ago if you can recall although it was as our Dominants. This is the Hideaway, where everyone is equal. The dominion has fallen and this is the safest place for all of us to be. Nobody knows we're here." She explained. You listened closely as everything was explained to you. It was overwhelming at first but you accepted it. Realizing you had no place to go nor were you in the best of shape, you came to terms this was where you would be living; god knows for how long though.
~•••~
Vague memories of that night slowly came to you when you slept but You had trouble accepting the role you played in destroying the Dominion—your home. You lost control of Leviathan—flooding the streets killing countless innocents you felt guilty and even more so since you could barely remember the night fully. Joshua had awoken a couple of days after you had and you both spent time recovering. You both were only now well enough to walk around on your own.
You sighed overlooking the blighted lands playing with a water droplet you conjured, between your fingers. "How are you feeling ______?" Joshua asked as he came beside you holding a plate of warm food. "You need to eat to get your strength back." He scolded half heartedly. You dropped the water droplet and took the plate from him, "I'm feeling okay. It's hard to eat with this guilt. Dion may never wake..if only I had been strong enough to protect him." you sighed holding back tears as you poked at a potato with a fork that was on the plate. Joshua frowned, "Ultima took control of you and Dion. He wanted for you two to descend into madness, lose control. But you both were strong enough and pulled through. Dion is strong, he'll awaken soon. Please stop blaming yourself, the people wouldn't blame you either if they knew what had happened." He tried to comfort you. "Hmm.." you replied slowly eating your food. The only good thing that had happened since that night was the fact you two were together. You were grateful to have him by your side.
Things slowly got better for you as a couple more days passed at the quaint hideaway. You sat with Joshua in your shared makeshift bedroom catching up on everything you two had missed. Joshua had just told you a story about how him and Jote had pulled a prank on one of the old men in the Undying. You laughed alongside him. It made you happy to see his face light up but soon the laughter died down a serious tone filled the air. "What's wrong?" You asked curiously, "Did I do something?"
Joshua shook his head, "No of course not. You could never do any wrong." He laughed softly, "It's just...I'm happy we can be together like this. I never want it to end but.." he trailed off. You frowned, "But what? What's stopping us?" Your asked eyes beginning to water. He shook his head grabbing your hands in his, "Nothing I think I'm just paranoid is all. Let's just enjoy tonight, together." He smiled leaning over to place a gentle kiss on your lips. You returned it eagerly, it was so easy to forget all the awful going on in the world when you were with Joshua. "I love you more than anything in the world my love." He whispered as his hands caressed your cheek. "I love you too Joshua." you whispered back pressing another kiss to his soft lips. Your eyes fluttered shut as he gently pushed you onto the plush bed deepening the kiss. His lean body hovering above you as his lips left yours and began to pepper your neck with soft kisses. You arched your back as you pressed your body against his his. Joshua slipped his hands behind your back to support you. His lips moved their way to your collarbone, he placed more kisses there before he found himself hovering above your clothed chest. He began to pull away but you reached out to grab him, "No..please don't. I need you Joshua." You mewled quietly. Your eyes were lustful and Joshua knew then he couldn't resist your begging. "I'll give you everything you want.." he said voice low.
Joshua quickly undressed you, fumbling with the ribbons of your dress finally he got the dress undone slipping it off your shoulders. When he saw your bare chest he let out a small gasp and stared at your breast. The faint candlelit illuminated your bodies curves perfectly, he felt his pants tighten uncomfortably at the sight of you in this state. You looked so vulnerable. You noticed his staring and felt your face heat up, instinctively you covered your chest with your arms and looked away. A small pout making its way to your lips, "Don't stare...it's rude." You shyly scolded. Joshua laughed softly his voice echoing through the quiet room, "You're right my lady...I apologize but you look so beautiful I couldn't help it." He said cooly. "I feel a little embarrassed...since you know..." you trailed off shyly avoiding his intense gaze. Joshua knew what you meant and he obliged your request wasting no time. He had wanted you for so long and he finally had you. You couldn't help but notice he would not take off his shirt you tugged at it and he reached his hand to grab yours, "No please." He said. Before you could question why he shushed your curiosity with a kiss nipping at your lip softly. You immediately forgot about it and tangled your fingers through his soft hair.
It's was naive—innocent even the way you two spoke to one another as you explored each others bodies. Joshua whispered words of encouragement and praise as he as he slowly moved inside you. You covered your mouth with your hands trying to suppress the moans that threatened to escape. "It's okay you can make some noise..no one will hear us." He encouraged as he thrusted in you a moan escaping his soft lips. You felt so warm it was even better than he could ever of imagined. He was gentle with you as you slowly got used to him. "It's okay..good girl.." he breathily said as he pushed himself deep inside you. As your body tightened around him, Joshua couldn't help but moan. He gently cupped your breasts, lowering his lips to meet the bud of your nipple. Your hands tightened around his hair as he swirled his tongue on your breasts. "I need you." You moaned. Joshua could no longer hold himself back. Beads of sweat trickled down his body as he felt himself reaching closer to the edge. You moaned as his pace fastened. "Like that...I love the way you sound ______." Joshua said encouraging you. "Joshua..keep going.." you said in between moans. That was all it took to push the blond over the edge, he buried his face in the crook of your neck as his body shook. You quickly reached your climax soon after and wrapped your legs around pulling him close to you. "I love you.." Joshua whispered.
~•••~
It was made apparent to everyone at the Hideaway that you and Joshua had entered an official relationship. Clive had noticed how much happier his young brother had been. "______, will his highness, Dion be okay with this?" Clive asked crossing his arms over his chest. You held Joshua's hand in yours and nodded, "Yes, he will probably be delighted." You smiled. Jill rubbed her temples shaking her head, "But you are to be his bride. I don't think he'd be happy to see his fiancé with another man." She frowned. You and Joshua exchanged looks before laughing, "Oh no no you see...umm..." you began trying to find the right words as Clive and Jill looked at you suspiciously, "Dion he is in a relationship...with a man." You whispered. The two's eyes widened in shock looking flustered to hear this news. "You mustn't tell a soul. If anyone raises suspicions tell them Dion and I view one another as siblings." You pleaded to the pair. Clive chuckled shaking his head, "I see then this makes things not so complicated. I wouldn't want to see anyone come between Joshua and yours relationship. Or I else I may have to step in and deal with a certain prince." Clive said, he seemed to be enjoying his role as an older brother. "Brother please." Joshua huffed in embarrassment.
Another week had gone by at the Hideaway, Clive and Jill set off to take care of some things while you were left behind to watch after Joshua and Dion. During their time away Joshua had fallen ill once again drifting off into a deep sleep. Dion had only stirred awake for a few brief moments at a time before passing out again in a confused state. You were barely hanging on, whatever ailment Ultima had casted on your mind and body it was still plaguing you. You sat next to Joshua gazing out the window a warm blanket wrapped around you tightly. "Princess you really should be resting." Tarja said as she walked into the room to administer a daily dosage of medicine to the two men sleeping. You let out a cough and shook your head, "I can't sleep very well Tarja. It seems like every time I begin to drift off nightmares of that day haunt me." You said weakly. The red haired woman offered you a sympathetic look, "I've noticed. That's why I asked Charon to run to the nearest village and pick up some herbs. Swallow this. It'll help you sleep." She said handing you a rather large tan pill. You hesitantly took it from her eying it in your hand.
"It's not poison." Tarja laughed, "Take it and go to bed. I can handle watching over these two." She said, well more like demanded. You quickly swallowed the pill and a weird tasting flavor coated your tastebuds, "Goodness, that's awful." You coughed scrunching your face. Tarja shrugged, "most medicine tastes awful." She said, you couldn't help notice the amused smirk that played ever so slightly on her lips.
You did not even realize that you had fallen asleep. When you awoke again, you were in a bed and commotion was coming from outside your small bedroom. You quickly stood walking to the window pulling curtains back. It seemed like Clive and Jill were back. Quickly you dressed yourself and made your way towards them. By the time you had made your way out of your room you Clive and Jill were speaking to a man named Otto. You couldn't help but eavesdrop into the conversation hiding behind a wall. The free cities were under attack. You covered your mouth with your hand to stifle back a gasp of shock. "_______, no need to hide. come on out." Clive said turning to face your direction. You slowly moved into view, "I want to help your friends. After all everyone at the Hideaway has shown both Dion and I a great kindness. Allow me to accompany you." You said determined fists at your side. "No, you're still recovering. Stay here with Joshua and his Highness. You're in no shape to travel to Tarbor." Clive said sternly. You began to argue but Joshua's voice had cut you off. "What a coincidence I also must travel to Tarbor. Jote is waiting for me there." He said walking weakly up the steps. You noticed his frail state and quickly rushed to side offering your hand to help stabilize him. "Joshua you should be resting." You scolded under your breath.
"You both should be resting." Tarja came following closely behind you two. She crossed her arms over her chest, thin brows furrowed in frustration. "I've been telling these two to not over due it but yet..." she trailed off.
"Had it not been for Tarja's talents both ______ and I would no doubt be dead. We're able to walk which means we can help." Joshua said letting go of your hand to show the others he can support himself. It wasn't convincing, especially to you. You noticed how frail he was. Yes, you weren't in the best of shape either but you could at the very least walk on your own. Clive shook his head, "______, did Joshua not tell you that he coughed up blood earlier? Tarja was barely able to stabilize him." Clive's words were harsh—blunt but you knew he only meant well. "Clive!" Jill hissed through gritted teeth. You only stood there in shock looking at the blond. "He did not. Joshua everyone is right you ca—"
"I can handle myself. After all I have for all these years. I'll be going to Tarbor with or without you." Joshua said. It was the first time you had heard him raise his voice and look visibly angry. "Alright we'll go with you." Clive gave in. You exchanged a look with Joshua, "I'm coming to." You weren't asking you were telling him. He smiled at you pleased with your answer.

Love...you did not understand the full meaning of that word when you were a child nor did Joshua Rosfield. You would tell one another how much you loved each other but never knew the full weight those words carried. So much happiness was shared between you two. Innocent childhood romance blossomed between you and the Phoenix. It was rumored you'd be married into the Rosfield family. Dominant of Leviathan married to the Dominant of the Phoenix; a prince of Rosaria and princess of the Crystalline Dominion. You hadn't fully understood what marriage meant instead you saw it as a chance for you two to never be apart. The last time you saw Joshua was the night before he left to go to the Phoenix Gate. You made a pinky promise to him you'd come see him again soon but alas that promise would never be fulfilled. It was not until your dearest friend—love left your life when you were but a mere nine years old. It was like a dagger in your heart you barely hard time to process your grief before the news had spread across Valisthea that the Phoenix had died; but to you Joshua Rosfield was more than the Dominant of the Phoenix he was you're only truest dearest friend and the love of your life.
A great sorrow soon followed once you learned the news of Joshua's fate. It seemed like your parents did not care—were incapable of dealing with your immense grief. Only months passed before your parents told you that you'd be married to the Prince of Sanbreque; it was political marriage to help protect the Dominion; no it was to protect your parents pride. You, the Dominion of Levithan were to be married off to the Dominant of Bahamet; your young mind did not understand what exactly was being said to you until you were on a carriage riding off to Oriflamme. Screaming and cries followed behind your wake as you begged for your parents to save you, of course it never came. Oriflamme was a grim place despite its beauty you wanted nothing more than to pass away and live alongside Joshua in the afterlife. Prince Dion seemed to sympathize with you but you closed off your heart to not allow anyone else in despite Dion's kindness towards you.
~•••~
After a particularly hard day you stumbled out of your room onto the private balcony that laid just outside your uncomfortable room. You sobbed uncontrollably as you climbed on top of the way railing shakily standing to you feet as hot tears streamed down your young face. You maintained your balance as you took in your surroundings. Drake's Head blue hue glowed warmly against your soft skin in the dark night. Oriflamme was beautiful but it was no place you wished to be. You wanted nothing more than to die. End this nightmarish life you had been forced to live. Stepping closer to edge you looked down. You were dozens of stories above the city, it would be painless death no doubt. Taking a deep breath you accept your death and stepped off the edge closing your eyes tightly. You waited and waited for death's sweet merciful embrace—for the wind to flow through your hair wildly as you fell to the ground but yet it never came. Instead you felt a tight grip on your wrist, you toppling backwards into a firm chest. "Please _____, don't do that. He wouldn't want you to do that." A gentle voice begged. You turned around to see who had damned you. Your ____ eyes met gentle teary amber hued ones. It was Prince Dion. "W..why?" You cried out. Dion shook his head, "I know things are hard for you right now but in time your heart will heal. I'll always be here for you." He smiled softly. You sobbed collapsing into his arms.
Years passed and Dion's words had not come true yet; your heart still ached but you only got better at masking the pain that haunted you. Dion and Terence quickly became your main support system, they were really the only people who you could trust and rely on. You had become a respected solider, fighting alongside the Dragoons and using your Dominant abilities whenever required. The people of the Holy Empire had come to finally adore you. they no longer saw you as an outsider or just a weapon to further the Empire's power; you were the beloved Princess of Sanbreque to be married to the beloved Prince Dion. Your kindness was know far throughout Storm.
It did not take long for your reputation to spread all the way to Dhalmekia. Joshua had been keeping up with your life as best as he could. He was alive and longed to see you once again but knew he couldn't expose his identity. So he lurked in the shadows getting information about how you were doing from second hand sources. It was barely enough to satisfy him but it was enough for the time being. When word about you had spread to a small Dhalmekian village he was passing through he perked up eavesdropping into the conversation between two merchants. "Princess _______ she's a good girl but she's a fool fighting for the Empire. Doesn't she know that Lord Kupka would destroy her? She's challenging him right now on the boarder." The gruff merchant spoke. "Ha! When I was passing through Sanbreque I got stopped by the boarder guards for lookin suspicious. But the Princess was there and told the guards to leave me alone I just had food. So the guards let me go. The damn bitch didn't realize I was carrying weapons for our soldiers. She's an idiot lettin me through." The scruffy merchant laughed loudly the other laughing with him. Joshua felt his blood boiling hearing them talk about you in that way. He marched over, "Don't talk about her like that!" He shouted angrily his fists clenching. The two merchants exchanged a look with one another before turning back to him laughing, "Or what boy? she your girlfriend or somethin? You look like you can barely hold a sword!" They laughed. Joshua without thinking punched one of the merchants across the face sending the man stumbling back. And before Joshua knew it he was fighting multiple men. The market ensued into chaos as they fought. Joshua easily outmaneuvering the older merchants knocking them to the ground. It wasn't until a scream broke the crowd causing them all to stop. "Stop it! You're making yourself look awful!" Jote shouted as she ran into the crowd pulling Joshua out. Jote shouted apologetically as she guided them to their chocobos before the pair quickly left town and did not stop until they were back into Sanbreque territory by then it was nightfall.
After much scolding from Jote as she patched up his wounds Joshua finally spoke. "Jote they were calling ______ degrading names. I couldn't stand by." He tried defending his actions. The brunette shook her head as she finished bandaging his knuckles, "I understand where you are coming from Your Highness but you mustn't act so recklessly. Things could of turned out bad back there." She sighed softly. Joshua frowned, "Yes but—"
"No buts your highness. Just use restraint next time." Jote cautioned before standing up to finish their dinner. That night Joshua spent gazing at the far off Drake's Head wondering if you and him were sharing the same sight tonight.
~•••~
Your arrival back to the capital city, Oriflamme was met with celebration. You had successfully faced off against Titan pushing back Dhalmekian forces further into their territory. It was only your second battle against another Dominant—your first being against Shiva's Dominant when you were only sixteen years old. You rode on top of your white chocobo waving gracefully at the people of Oriflamme. "All this just for pushing back Kupka?" You asked looking at Dion who rode by your side. The prince chuckled shaking his head, "It's to also celebrate your birthday on top of your victory at the boarder." He reminded. You gasped completely forgetting what the day was, your twentieth birthday. "Princess Princess! Here for you!" A young girl shouted as she ran beside your chocobo holding a pink flower. You took it from the girl giving her a warm smile, "Thank you my dear." You said the girl squealed excitedly before running off no doubt back to her mother. Once you finally got to the castle gates you hopped off your chocobo walking towards the crowd to personally thank everyone, Dion joining you. Babies were held in the air as mothers begged for you or Dion's blessing. It was strange still, how highly regarded you two were in the kingdom. The people truly loved both you and Dion. As you began to walk away from the crowd into the castle a man maneuvered his way through the crowd, "______! My lady, a gift for you." He called out handing you a bouquet of flowers. The casualness in which he called out your name made you pause. You took the bouquet and looked up to thank the man but he seemed to already be leaving the front of the crowd. Though you met his gaze for a few seconds before being ushered through the castle gates by the guards.
Ocean blue eyes...messy blond hair...and a smile you'd never forget. He mouthed something to you but you couldn't catch it. Your eyes were widened in shock...it felt as if you just saw a ghost. That man looked so much like Joshua...at least what you'd expect him to look like now. "Are you okay _____?" Dion asked suddenly snapping you out of your trance. His thin brows knitted together in concern, "You look like you just saw a ghost." He chuckled. You laughed nervously nodding, "Yes I'm okay. Forgive me I must just be tired." You tried to play it off.
That evening after the celebrations were over—at least for you they were, most of the city was still celebrating and would be all the way into the morning, you headed off to your room after a warm bath. Your room was adorned with the gifts you had received but only one stood out to you, the bouquet the man gave you. You walked over to it gently sliding off the paper that was wrapped around the stems. A note dropped out fluttering to the floor. Leaning down you set aside the flowers to grab the note. As your eyes read the note your breath hitched in your throat and you choked back a sob. 'I'll always be with you, my love. -J' It read.  This is some sick fucking joke! You thought as you ripped the note in half and grabbed the flowers throwing them across the room. Joshua was dead...that man had purposely pulled this sick joke on you. Perhaps he wanted to see your reaction in person which is why he disappeared into the crowd so fast. You dropped to your knees sobbing. Life was so cruel.
The next couple of years were uneventful at least until the night that Drake's Head fell. It was destroyed, you had your suspicion on who had done it since the Crystal had been threatened once before by Ramuh but Dion had quickly taken care of it. It was a calculated attack since they attackers made sure both you and Dion were not in Oriflamme at the time. It did not take long after until you were back home...in the Crystalline Dominion. Though you felt even more miserable there, your parents had fled the city and into obscurity once the Empire took control over the city. You couldn't bring yourself to care that they had left you again, you were relieved in a way that you wouldn't have to talk to the very people who sold you to Empire. It did not take long before you and Dion were sent off again to separate boarders though the event that happened had left you bed bound of months nearly dead.
A horrific encounter with Odin had destroyed more than half of the army that were brought with you to the front lines. He attacked unexpectedly at night, leaving you no other choice but to transform into Leviathan. Despite being near the ocean you were absolutely dominated. As fell to the forest floor slowly reverting back to your human form Odin followed you. It wasn't enough that he humiliated you in Leviathan form he took it a step further and humiliated your human body beating you bloody. Though you never understood why he did not finish you off. He left you with the words his strong gripping your chin harshly as he forced you to look him in the eye, "I wanted to see how strong this Leviathan was and you disappointed me. You must grow stronger Princess, for Mythos." Then he dropped you to the ground walking away. A dragoon had found you and you were immediately escorted back to Oriflamme where you began the long healing process. King Barnabas haunted your dreams you were incapable of returning back to the front lines for nearly a year.
                                          ~•••~
You sat in your old room gazing at Drake's Tail boredly. The moonlight and crystal encasing your room in a soft light. "_____, may I come in?" There was a gentle knock at your door. "Mhm." You replied back. Dion stepped in clicking the door shut, "It's ridiculous isn't it?" He muttered. You raised a brow looking at him, "What ever do you mean?" You asked. "Father. Claiming that child is the reason why we annexed the Dominion." Dion spoke with utter disdain his words coming out like venom.
You shrugged, "Olivier is quite a creepy child. Your wicked step mother isn't any better either." You smirked lazily at him. Dion groaned, "Was she always so corrupt?" He asked taking a seat next to you on the window sill. "She was always nice enough to me, because I was a dominant I presume. And she was always kind to Joshua albeit she was overbearing..but to anyone who she deemed lesser then well...you know how she treats them." You said. Dion sighed not too content with your answer something else weighed on his mind. "What is it?" You asked. "we're being sent off to the front lines once again. Seems like Lady Annabella doesn't want us around. So get some sleep and I'll have Terence come fetch you in the morning." He said standing up. You froze eyes widened, "No I can't." You began. "Don't worry we'll be together this time. I promise." He tried to reassure you. Standing up he paused placing a strong yet gentle hand on your shoulder and gave it a squeeze, "Don't stay up too late reminiscing about the what ifs ______." He mumbled softly before leaving you be. Dion could always read you so well.
You hated the front lines but for once you were actually relieved to be back on the battlefield. Away from the negative memories your associated with the Dominion, the nobles were beginning to think ill of you for being so weak that you couldn't return to the battlefield but they were wrong you were strong you could persevere . "My lady." A solider spoke as they ran into your tent getting to a knee. You jumped in surprise accidentally pressing too hard on your pen, the ink splattering across the canvas. You groaned, "What?! I told everyone to leave me be while I map out our strategy. This better be good—" you began to rant but were cut off by the soldier. "My lady I apologize. His highness needs you immediately." He said. You raised a brow and quickly stood to your feet walking to Dion's tent. Pushing the curtain open you ducked your head slightly as you walked into the tent, "This better be impo—" you began.
"_______, look who came back from the dead." Dion motioned with his hand towards someone unfamiliar. You followed his movement and gasped, no it was impassible. You felt your head spinning and you struggled to find your footing, "Wha...no. No...this is some sick joke." You began to mutter holding your head with one hand trying to stabilize yourself. But it was too much for you to handle and you collapsed. The last thing you remembered was being held tightly in someone's arms, "______ it's me." The blond man spoke with a warm smile on his face.
As you came to your senses you groaned, your eyes adjusting to the dim lighting. "J..Joshua." You whined out. "I'm right here ______. It's okay, just lay down." The voice from earlier said gently holding your hand. Once your vision adjusted you met those familiar calm ocean eyes. It really was him, you weren't dreaming. "I...how are you here?" You asked in disbelief. Though you didn't wait for an answer, immediately pulling him into a hug. You had to confirm he was real—physically here by your side. Once he wrapped his arms around you, you felt the tears stream out. This was too good to be true.
Joshua held you tightly as he felt your body shake from your sobs and he couldn't hold it back anymore. He sobbed alongside you muttering apologies and sweet words in between cries. You kept asking him why..where was he but it was hard to even form a thought no less a sentence. Finally you two were able to calm down and slowly you pulled apart. Joshua's calloused hands cupped your face as he pressed his forehead against yours, "______, I have dreamed of this day for so long. I've missed you so much." He said with a shakey breath his eyes closed. Tears silently streamed down his perfect face. You cupped his face and nodded, "I have too. I felt like I had died the day I heard of your death, nothing felt the same anymore." You sniffled. Your hands reached into his hair as you ran your fingers through the golden locks. "I'm sorry I couldn't see you sooner. I had no other choice it was to protect us both my dear." He explained slowly pulling away from you so he could take a good look at your face. Though he held your hand gently, he felt as if he stopped touching you you may disappear from him. You didn't care why he had suddenly decided to show himself. You did not care how he got to Dion. Whatever the reason was it could wait.
You gazed into each's other eyes taking in every single feature. You noticed new moles that lightly doted his face. You noticed his chiseled features. He looked so grown; far different from his baby like features you once remembered. Joshua couldn't help but notice how ethereal you looked, you looked as beautiful as the day he first laid eyes on you albeit you were grown now—matured. He noticed the faint scar that graced your cheek, the beauty mark that had appeared on your face, he noticed every single detail and he loved it—you.
You broke the silence as you gazed into his eyes, "Joshua...I love you. Please don't leave me again." You confessed with a sob. Joshua couldn't help but cry once again and nodded, "I love you too ______. I always have and always will." He confessed pulling you into a kiss. But you couldn't help but notice he didn't promise to never leave you again.
