Recipe time!
Today’s late lunch/early dinner was the most boring I’ve had in a while ngl, but I’m going on a movie date tonight so I didn’t want to be stuffed because I’ll probably have popcorn and Coke Zero at the cinemas!

I made a really basic salad, even though I typically hate salad lol. I just figured it’s best to use the things in my fridge that look like they’re on their way out. Despite it being super boring, it was quite filling and tasty. I doubled it up and saved the other half of the salad for lunch at work tomorrow!

I’ve been fasting for just over 15 hours, aiming for at least 18 today!
I’ve been reading up on the benefits of intermittent fasting a little bit, and it’s so informative and interesting! I definitely want to make this a part of my day to day lifestyle and diet.
For those (like me) that know the word but don’t really know much of what it’s about, here’s a little crash course:
Fasting boosts your metabolism for fat loss
It reduces inflammation in your body
It removes waste materials from the cells in your body
Insulin levels drop and your blood sugar levels lower
Increases Humand Growth Hormones in your body. Read more about HGH here
What happens hour by hour when you fast?
4-8 hours: you’re still in your fed state. There’s no food left in your stomach. Blood sugar drops a bit.
12 hours: the food you’ve consumed has been burned. You’re entering your fasting state now, so your digestive system goes to sleep and your body begins the healing process! Your HGH is starting to increase now.
14 hours: your body is now converted to using stored fat as energy. Your HGH levels increase dramatically!
18 hours: your body’s ability to burn fat increases exponentially now- this is your fasting sweet spot. Your HGH is also skyrocketing!
20 hours: by now your body is a fat burning machine!
24 hours: your body has reached its peak in fat burning.
Please note that I’m not a dietitian or health coach, but I am passionate about learning what is good and right for my body and my health. Rather than following unhealthy restrictions that will just make me binge again, I try to read up and research ways that will help me lose weight in a healthy and sustainable manner, and also keep it off.

I ended today with 1000cal ON THE DOT! I did a 21,5 hour fast, with a 5,5 hour eating window. I had a bit of a YIKES moment when I realized I had 1000cals in 5,5 hours, but then I ALSO realized that there’s no way I can get heavier if I only had 1000cals today lol. I feel super satisfied and full, which is nice.

I made this vegan stroganoff and replaced the rice with lentils. I’m trying to focus on more high volume/ low calorie meals so that even if I eat what feels like a ton of food, it’s still low in calories so I’ll be stuffed but not packing on kilos in the process. I am so happy to be back on track and to be feeling like I’m heading somewhere good again. I’m so happy I started today, and that I stuck to my promise for myself even though I would have loved to inhale a whole damn chocolate bar. I’m proud of myself <3
