Fellow bagginshield gang, I need your help, can anyone remember the name of a fanfic where the company take back the kingdom but Bilbo is so used to sleeping with the company struggles to fall asleep and goes for a walk and bumps into Thorin who is having the same issue and they end up sharing a bed? Holy smokes right in the feels. His eyes literally sparkle at Bilbo. LITERALLY SPARKLE. There is no way they weren’t in love, you can’t change my mind world.

this scene. this scene right here is my favorite in the entire hobbit trilogy. the way thorin looks at bilbo and his little acorn like he's a greater treasure than all the gold in erebor.

the way the music swells at the reveal of the acorn.

the way thorin's eyes literally twinkle at bilbo.

the smile, the way his voice is rough with emotion when he says "a poor prize, to take back to the shire."

may i just get something out of my chest because i just felt an urge. i’ve said before that bilbo baggins can be so relatable and i’m sure, so sure, that i was thinking about eating potatoes and wearing that robe and having a friendly face and a sarcastic side. there are many other aspects too. but sometimes when i think about how relatable he is, it gets a bit more profound than our heights. i think about being the “weird kid”, who wasn’t an outcast, but wasn’t surrounded by others either and preferred books or just watching fireworks. i think about being kind and polite yet not having a close social circle, of being too used to setting the table for one, during his whole life. i think about how bilbo didn’t grow sour because of his loneliness, he’s no scrooge. i think about being lonely but not letting that loneliness take your kindness away, even in the moments when it’s cold instead of cozy. and that’s so very relatable. then i think about how bilbo met someone who had spent a lifetime in a similar way and how they belonged together because they understood each other. that’s the point where i turn to myself and realize: no wonder bilbo baggins is so relatable to you. the hobbit is a love story, the love story of bilbo and thorin. and of course, i conclude, i relate to bilbo the same way others relate to characters in love stories. because they see themselves in those stories. those stories were never for me. never for short, funny looking, kind lonely people. the story of bilbo and thorin is that and much more. it’s for the bilbos and the thorins of the world. even if that wasn’t what tolkien wanted, it is what it is thanks to a great fandom. and that’s why bilbo baggins can be so relatable.

Fellow bagginshield fans and fan Fic writers, I am looking for a fan fic, I read it last year but can’t remember the title of it to find it on the archive, the company fall down into this cinema type room and they are given the chance to see basically the hobbit movie and the story is basically the company reacting to what they see, like with Bilbo and Gollum for example and then they have a chance to walk away before the 3rd movie or watch it. It’s an unfinished fan fic but I would love to re-read it anyways. Can anyone help a girl out? thank you 🥰

Last year I made the crazy decision to read as many Bilbo and Thorin fanfics on archive of our own, I’ve current read 2340 ( I don’t read female Bilbo or female Thorin, sorry it’s just not my cup of tea) and am I obsessed ? Possibly but I love the hobbit and have loved reading these amazing stories, people have created for free. I am so grateful to each writer and honestly love reading more every night. Thorin and Bilbo forever ❤️
