Starting off my new OC only blog with this cute little video I made for these main characters in the “Thirteen foot beast” storyline!!!

This is Jay Cantrium and Darline!!!!!!! They are actually so cute together forever and ever and I love them so bad. Even after they die and become these sort of soulless zombies their souls live together in the stomach of the beast and their flesh puppets are also in love even though they don’t really have organs or a soul or really anything going on it’s really nice

Something about Clown and Nightwing I really have not touched on and feel like I should because it’s important to their story.

There were only one sided feelings for a very long time!!! Clown first developed feelings when he first found out Dick’s real identity! When they were like 10!!! Knowing that made him feel connected to him and special, even though he continued to actively date women (and Wally, they weren’t ever officially together but there was a period time they 100% were without realizing.)

He still had all those love interests he does cannonly! The only difference is that the endgame, instead of being Barbra, was the Clown.

Nightwing wasn’t ever anti Clown of course, and also clearly felt the connection but it never strengthened into anything of substance until after Clown opened up to him about his “true self” too. There was no way for Grayson to like him before then because before then, Clown actively hid details about himself somehow more than Dick did!

It took a long conversation about their feelings about each other, about who they were as people and why Clown had hid most things about himself for so long. I mean Dick didn’t even know about his transition until they were in their mid 20s! (He started his transition at NINE YEARS OLD !!)

WALLY!!!!! I feel like I know so little about him but I love him so much…. I didn’t draw him in his suit because in the actual context of comics and fanfics with Clown it’s very rare that he’s ever suited up so it felt unnecessary.. so instead he gets a crop top

Being best friends with both Dick Grayson and Robin for a number of years, Wally had at least heard a bit about clown but not much. Dick tried to keep them separate from each other, resulting in Wally becoming an avid Clown HATER. Dick did tell Clown a lot about Wally though, resulting in Clown becoming a huge Wally fan. The only time the two ever interacted outside of the rare overlap between hangouts (which Wally always thought were fights or clown causing trouble), was at Dick’s funeral. They both sort of acknowledged each other’s pain about the loss of their friend and from that point on, just kind of ignored each other. Cut to Dick as an adult, Wally does his regular checks (as referenced in Nightwing #91? I may be wrong but it’s either that issue or one close to it) and starts noticing odd things and even sees him with someone he can’t quite recognize at the speed he checks on him. One day he goes to visit unannounced and hears someone call out to Dick from his bedroom. He teases him about having girls over and goes up to say hello, finding Clown in his bed, wearing his clothes. Suddenly the odd behavior, suddenly crowded apartment and that incredibly panicked look on his face when he started heading upstairs made sense. It takes a while, a few weeks, but after some long explanations the two sort of “start over” and begin to properly get along.

After becoming friends, the two often bond over stealing Dick’s clothes and pulling little pranks on him that make him regret introducing the two

Wally always often made jokes about him and Dick being gay together for a long time and now that he’s in a real relationship with a man, it made him question if it was a little more real than he originally thought (lead in him to come out as bisexual not long after..)

Wally genuinely thought Clown and Dick were enemies when they were young and when first hearing about Clown in Blüdhaven, genuinely worried for Dick’s safety and began checking more often

Wally was a bit mad he had hid this friendship from him for so long, especially after seeing how well he and Clown ended up getting along but fully understands why he couldn’t have told him

Wally buys everyone his own merch for Christmas and Clown ends up wearing it all the time and even makes a public appearance with Dick, wearing a flash Tshirt

At first Wally was a bit jealous and annoyed that Clown knew Dick almost about at well as he did and even knew a few things he didn’t (like partner stuff) but after realizing Clown felt kind of the same, they began to bond and soon became Dick Grayson haters (lovers) together

I honestly don’t know much about Wally so if anyone has any suggestions for this AU it’d be greatly appreciated :)

THE BIRTHDAY BOY!!! And the entire reason I became so invested in DC in the first place, dear Dicky boy.

Dick and Clown first met when Clown was adopted at about seven years old. They first started as enemies but soon Dick noticed the way he fought, it was as if someone had trained him to copy his every move. Soon he realized Clown was intentionally losing fights, as if he didn’t want to be in them. On his own, Robin found and confronted the little Clown and after admitting he only fought because his father asked him to, they became good friends. They both intentionally faked fights and even found ways to separate from their fathers so they could just sit and talk instead. Soon when Joker aborted the plan to get his own Robin, they started meeting on their own. Clown was eventually trusted enough with his real identity and they even met during the day, Clown sneaking onto his Highschool/College campus at times. When he was fired from being Robin, their friendship became a bit more strained and they began to drift further away until they were entirely no contact. In their time apart Dick had all of his antics with spiral and the court of owls, Clown occasionally stalking him to check on him. When he thought Dick had died Clown mourned him the same way he did Jason. When he found he was alive again, he dumped his boyfriend, the Riddler, and moved to Blüdhaven. He spent his days annoying Nightwing and repeatedly hinting at a plan to "take him down". Dick found it more endearingly annoying than anything so he sort of let him do his thing. One day Dick caught him stealing from tourists, but he noticed a pattern in the thefts. Clown was very careful to steal from tourists on the richer side, and only stole money he knew they wouldn't notice was missing. After looking into it a bit further he found out not only was Clown extremely poor but also legally had been dead the entire time he had known him, so there was no way for him to get a real job. From that point on Dick had started helping him out, turning a blind eye to the thefts and even buying him food often. As days got colder they spent more and more time together until Clown slowly began to move into his apartment and eventually admitted his feelings for Nightwing. After a long conversation they found he reciprocated and now the two live together and are working on getting Clown's life back to some form of "normal".

Bruce found out about their friendship at 14 because Robin had taken a photo on a camera that he didn't realize was connected to the bat computer of them on a rooftop together, Clown now had the only copy of the photo left hung up in their apartment

Clown sort of “perches” on Dick all the time, climbing up onto his back, clinging to just chest, ect

Dick is an excellent cook, Alfred was determined to not let him end up like Bruce who somehow can even fuck up making cereal

Despite being close, due to his early transition, Dick had no idea Clown was trans and upon seeing his top surgery scars for the first time solemnly asked “did the Joker do this to you?” causing Clown to burst out in laughter for several minutes

Due to his high attendance at EVERY SINGLE PRIDE EVENT people already figured Dick was queer so when he did come out publicly, genuinely no one was surprised (especially with Bruce’s track record)

When they first started dating Dick regularly freaked out about how Bruce would feel so much so that when Bruce actually found out, he had sort of stopped worrying and was unphased by the resulting argument

Dick actually retrained Clown in combat because the joker had done so poorly and he worried about his safety

Bonus birthday HC: Every year everyone throws a surprise party for Dick, they do it every year and the kid is a great detective but some how always ends up (pleasantly) surprised

Sorry I’m sort of blanking on Nightwing HC’s at the moment more will come in the future don’t worry

JASON!!!!! I love him oh so much it’s actually incredible he looks a little funky in the doodles but it’s okay don’t look at that

In this AU, there was actually no plan to kill Jason. The Joker had decided that the reason his original plan of “getting his own Robin” didn’t work because he just picked some random kid. He decided this time, he needed to get a real Robin to fill the roll. So he kidnapped Jason during one his and Batman’s more heated fights and essentially convinced him that the Batman had left him for dead while Bruce was entirely convinced Jason had been killed. Jason, similar to Clown was put into intensive near daily training, but Jason being… Jason, he resisted quite a bit, causing the Joker to be much harder on him. Clown tried his best to look out for Jason (not fully understanding why he was there) for those months. Whenever he wasn’t busy with training, Clown was usually there to distract him from their current situation. Jason, though young and full of rage, seemed to understand why Clown didn’t fight back, he didn’t feel like he should have to pay for a fight their fathers were having, so they got along well. Some nights they’d talk for hours about really anything but Batman and the Joker. After around six months of this though, Bruce found out Jason was still alive and being held captive. In a moment of desperation, he rushed over to collect Jason but Joker found out. This led to him moving him to a warehouse, trying to threaten the Batman away with harming Jason, but Batman kept pursuit, leading the the Joker simply “giving up” on the operation and blowing the warehouse up with Jason inside. This would become the main driving force that motivated Clown to leave home. After Jason died some of the pieces began to fall together and though, he knew his father was bad he only fully realized in that moment. After leaving, Clown visited Jason’s grave often, at least once or twice a month, apologizing for not doing more, having the conversations they used to have, ect. Once the timeline changed and Jason was back, the two met and became great friends again, especially after Clown detailed the whole “leaving his entire life behind for Jason’s sake” thing. They now hang out every so often, even working together on taking down some drug trades together on rare occasion.

Jason sees “clown” as an insult so he prefers to call him Jackie

Kept their friendship kind of secret for quite a bit so when Dick introduced the two you can only imagine how shocked he was when they got along so well

Though he never asked him to, Clown usually takes off the makeup around Jason just out of respect

The two refuse to tell anyone but Dick how they met and even he’s left in the dark about most of the details of their friendship

Jason loves to flirt with strangers but when they reciprocate he’s disgusted and runs off (aroace Jason is my fav)

They never really tell anyone when they hang out, they just sort of both disappear for 6-8 hours every so often

They actually met back up one of the days Clown had been visiting Jay’s grave and nearly had a heart attack when he just popped out

Bond over the fact that neither of them can use a phone for any reason because Clown was either in the clutches of the Joker or too poor and Jason was Dead so now that they have these little computers at their disposal they’re both completely at a loss

HEADCANNONS!!!! Here’s some small headcannons I’ve been messing with lately, sorry no art today but big things coming soon… 👹

-Clown is violently jealous of Barbra (obviously) and often fights with her over stupid small things because of it, causing many problems and even leading to Barbra insisting Clown has bad intentions

-Batman sees Dick and Clown flirting during a fight and, due to his connection with poison ivy though his adopted mother, thinks clown is using Ivy’s love spell on Nightwing but later when giving him the antidote followed by aggressive interrogation of poison ivy, finds he was wrong

-Despite who his father is, Clown and Redhood actually get along quite well due to the fact they were both born to the same poor neighborhood and during his time captured by the joker, often found comfort in Clown’s company (he had understood at the time what could have happened to clown if he had let him go and knew he had no real idea what the Joker had planned for him) they’ve even worked together a few times since

-Harley actually becomes a member of the bat family and (mostly) quits her life of crime for Clown, in an attempt to get closer to him after he began to distance himself from his father

-Red Robin and Clown spend a lot of time together after Clown was properly introduced to the family, Tim even got him a phone and taught him how to use social media after learning he had never had one

-Alfred had always enjoyed Clown’s presence and even encouraged Bruce to take him in and away from the joker when he was younger but after finding out Dick had been sneaking out to see him nights they weren’t patrolling his protective instincts kicked in and he attempted (and failed) to distance the boys as much as possible and insisted Clown was “too far gone” by then

-Damien, like usual, didn’t like Clown much at all at first but they soon bonded over being Dick’s number one haters (loving him a lot)

-When Clown gets his legal work back he actually made his legal name Jack Clown White after Joker but people close to him still call him Clown often

Next is the one and only Harley Quinn!!! (Was very excited for her!!!)

Harley Quinn and Clown are actually quite close! At first he was meant as a symbol of the Joker’s “love” but even as Harley began to see the light and move further and further away from him, she always still adored clown. To her, he was always her baby and it broke her heart to leave him behind when she first left the Joker. Their relationship often bounces back and forth from mother-son to a more sibling like relationship but no matter what Harley is always trying to take care of her boy in her own special Harley way.

Lives with poison Ivy who she’s in a relationship with and Clown also gets along with decently

Did the majority of Clown’s piercings and taught him how to do them himself

Actually did Clown’s top surgery (I know she’s not a medical doctor but crazier things have happened in the DC universe) and was the one who got him his testosterone early on until he was able to himself

Gets very emotional when Clown is gone for long periods of time

Not really interested in major crimes anymore, mostly petty, she’s more content with causing random chaos and living with her plant wife

Eventually “goes good” for Clown after he joins the bat family

Does NOT trust a single man her son dates (including Dick Grayson) and often threatens them when Clown isn’t around to hear it

Her and Clown try to have a “date night” at least once a month, doing each other’s makeup, usually getting some dinner, etc.

Has gotten kidnapped by the riddler over the breakup but after he immediately got his ass beaten before Clown and Ivy even arrived, he didn’t try it again

Sometimes visits the boys in Blüdhaven (they usually switch off their monthly “date” location every month or so)

Knows most of the Bat identities through Clown and genuinely couldn’t care less

Actually got a job as a psychiatrist in a nursing home (based off the new 52) so that she could help Ivy with rent, and actually quite enjoys her job

Goes on random rants about the Joker to Clown always starting with “that damn father of yours…” every so often

Taught Clown how to dress (until moving in with Dick and becoming stable enough to buy his own, most of the clothes he owned actually used to be hers at some point)

Taught Clown pretty much all he knows about acrobatics and gymnastics as she was in charge of that part of his training when he was little

Some sort of old “meeting the parents” doodles of Clown and Bruce from about a month ago, I mean they get along eventually but when he first found out that not only was his son still hanging out with the kid he had banned him from seeing when he was 14 but they were also living together and dating…

They had first met when Bruce needed help with something and in his Batsy fashion just sort of showed up at Dick’s apartment to find the two on date night. Considering that not only is the guy’s name Clown, he also has green hair and wears the makeup almost every moment that he’s awake.. so Bruce deduced who he was pretty quickly. Clown had known Bruce’s identity since he was a kid (he was a weird little stalker and generally.. not an idiot but he never told his dad, not like he’d listen anyway) so Batman showing up wasn’t a super big shock but still the most terrifying thing to ever happen to him. Possibly made worse by the fact that he knew he was in the arms of this very scary Bat’s son.. Since establishing that Bruce would in fact not kill/beat up/arrest the silly clown, they have grown closer but Bruce still wouldn’t trust him fully for quite a while.

NEXT UP, The riddle man!

Dearest Edward Nigma, in this AU, is only about 26-30 (not giving him a set age because that shit is impossible in any form of the DC universe, just think whatever age Nightwing is, he is one year older and two years older than Clown.) They had known of each other for a long time but Clown only met the Riddler after running away from his father. Clown's dear motherly figures and only people who'd give him a bed to sleep on, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, were thrown in Arkham. He needed to find someone to help get them out. So he went to Eddy for help. After several threats on his life, they began to work together to get the two out. Once the girls were free, they found they liked each other's company quite a bit so Clown simply didn't go home. This continued on and off for a few years until Clown found out the Dick Grayson was alive and well, causing him to leave for Blüdhaven with zero hesitation, leaving the Riddler behind.

Does not make any effort to hide his real identity

Knows the identity of the majority of the Batfamily but simply does not care enough to do anything with the info other than personalize crimes for each of them

His crimes are his "art"

Still crazy pissed about being left for Nightwing and the moment he found out about his relationship with Clown he kidnapped him just to yell about how he was "superior" until Clown came to get him back

He doesn't miss Clown as much as he just desperately needs to prove that he's better than Dick in every way and that him leaving him made no sense

Has no costume but wears the same jeans, converse, and hoodie literally everyday so Clown "commits-to-the-shtick-even-after-joining-the-batfamily" White added some question mark patches in an attempt to make his outfit more "riddley"

He wears those "paused my game to be here" and wolf shirts underneath his hoodie

Still oddly tries to impress Clown and throws fits when he doesn't get the result he wants

Kidnaps a Robin at least once a month (except Damian, he learned that lesson the hard way)

Oddly the breakup made him more passive, focused on creating crimes centered on meaning over destruction and fixated on stalking Dick so they sort of go easy on him, that and the fact that he could reveal their identities at any moment

Hiiii! First ever post! I wanted to start off by introducing my cringe self insert. I made him at first just cause I like clowns and wanted to make an OC to date Nightwing, but like many of my cringe self inserts I overdeveloped his story and accidentally made a whole AU centered around him. I’ll make more posts about the cannon characters soon, but enjoy his backstory :3

Joker was looking for a new plan that would hopefully both prove his “love” to Harley and finally get him even with the Batman. The Batman had recently started working with his first ever Robin, eight year old Dick Grayson. To the Joker, this was unfair, so he decided to get his own child sidekick. Joker made his way to the broken down apartments surrounding crime alley and after finding a neglected little seven year old kid alone in their apartment he made the next logical move, waited for their parents to come home, murdered them and took the kid home. He decided on the name Clown, telling Harley they were their new son! Of course the Joker did a number of unethical things, like never taking the kid to a single school building for any reason that wasn't for a plot, trying to bleach his skin (he was stopped by Batman on multiple occasions but Clown always ran back to his father), and training him specifically for the purpose of one upping Robin. There were times he was good, or well, bare minimum. He was accepting when Clown came out as trans at the age of 9 (he hadn’t even realized Clown was AFAB in the first place), he fed him proper meals most days, ensured he wasn’t thrown in Arkham (much easier considering he was a minor), ensured he wasn't homeless (at least not for log periods of time) and even provided some emotional support (though poor) when needed. But like a lot of Jokers plans, it wasn’t as effective as he had wished, no matter what he did, Robin was always better than his Clown, so he scrapped the idea. He didn’t kill Clown, he had become oddly attached to him and liked keeping around someone eternally loyal to him, just stopped paying attention. Clown continued pursuing Robin though, in an attempt to prove to his father he was worth the attention but ended up just creating a secret friendship with him, even learning his secret identity at some point (Bruce will not learn this until far later he simply thinks Clown is just friends with both Dick Grayson and Robin and is HEAVILY against it for obvious reasons). Clown sort of filled his days with spending time with Harley, the Hyenas, and sneaking out to go see Dick whenever he could. After Harley left, taking the dogs he picked up hobbies like painting or writing, slowly seeing Dick less and less until he had left to become Nightwing. In the period of years Dick had “died” and done all of his antics with Spiral and the court of Owls Clown ended up moving from home. He stayed with Harley some days, sometimes stole some money for a hotel for a few days until one day (at around 22) he started this odd love/hate relationship with the Riddler (only about a year or two older than Clown and Dick in this AU). They lived together for a while and were pretty on and off until Nightwing was back, Clown left Eddy to move to Blüdhaven and start following Dick around again. He stole the occasional wallet from tourists and managed to scrape together enough money to rent a pretty shitty apartment. He spends his time now just bothering Dick both on and off the Hero clock. They eventually developed a small tradition where Dick buys Clown dinner just as a way to ensure he eats at least once a day. This went on for a year or two until slowly Dick began to realize how Clown was struggling (could barely pay rent, no heating/AC, very little food, ect.). After one night in winter where Clown nearly froze to death and had to be taken back to stay at his apartment, Nightwing very slowly moved Clown's things into his apartment by trying to get him to stay more and more overtime. Eventually Clown had just fully moved in and after a few emotional conversations about their childhoods, what they missed in those years apart and Clown's admission that he didn't like doing his father's bidding (was always clear to Dick anyway), the two slowly began to start a relationship together. They now live together in his Blüdhaven apartment and are currently working on trying to track down Clown's legal documentation and get him a normal life.
