Okay okay, maybe an unpopular opinion but hear me out. I think they are doing St*ncy for a good reason. NOW HEAR ME OUT! I hate this ship and I personally ship ronance, or single Nancy all the way, but we know that’s not gonna happen smh 🤦 But I believe the Duffers are putting her back with Steve for a very important reason. If Byler is canon in S5, they can’t have Nancy still dating Jonathan, can they? That’s kinda weird, am I wrong? And I know both Jonathan and Nancy and Steve deserve better, but I think that’s why the writers are doing this to them, all for the sake of depressed little gay boyz 🤦💙💛

Long rambley byler headcanon ahead but I put a cut <3

Okay yes the Mike and Hopper hostility is very funny, and it's very funny to imagine Hopper thinking he got rid of Mike when he and El break up only to realize Mike is now dating his son.

However,

Imagine Mike suddenly becoming far more respectful to Hopper now that he's dating Will and Hopper being completely baffled by this.

Mike's finally in a relationship that he actually cares about maintaining. He knows he and Will are going to be together for the rest of their lives. Therefore he and Hopper are going to be in each other's lives forever. So they may as well get along, right?

And he knows that Will loves Hopper, and Will finally getting to have a loving and supportive father figure makes him so happy. How could he be a jerk to the man that is giving Will something he's always needed?

(Yes all of this applied to El too, but Mike was never very sensitive to El's feelings. And we know he is very sensitive to Will's.)

So Mike stops insulting Hopper. (For the most part.) He keeps the door open three inches. (When Hopper is home.) And he makes and effort to foster a positive relationship with Hopper.

Sure, he slips up sometimes. Maybe even frequently. Mike is a bitch (affectionate) so some bitchiness is inevitable. But Hopper can see that he's trying.

Also, we all know that Mike and Hopper’s canon relationship isn't just a rivalry. Hopper cares about Mike, a lot. And Hopper is probably more of a father figure to Mike than Ted ever was. So there's a basis of affection and mutual respect there.

So give me Mike calling Hopper 'Sir' and Hopper looking at him like he has three heads. Give me Mike clinging to Will constantly, but separating himself and keeping a respectful distance when Hopper enters the room, until Hopper rolls his eyes and says, 'It's okay, kid.' at which point Mike grins and resumes clinging to Will. Give me Mike awkwardly trying to make small talk with Hopper. Give me Mike getting Hopper a Christmas present. Give me Mike making sure he gets Will home by curfew unless Hopper is covering the night shift and won't be home anyway.

But yes, give me a dash of Hopper and Mike hostility too. Give me Mike holding Will's hand at the dinner table and Hopper asking, 'Wheeler, do you think you're physically able to go more that five seconds without touching Will?' And Mike responding, 'Wow, old man. I didn't know you hated gay people.' And Will has to stifle his laughter as Joyce lightly hits Hopper for teasing them.

Give me the one time Hopper comes home to the door not being open three inches, but in fact being locked. And give me Hopper pounding on the door threatening to take it off the hinges, until Mike opens the door, rolling his eyes and says, 'Relax, old man, we forgot.' And Hopper dubiously responding with 'You forgot you locked the door?' And Mike sheepishly shrugging.

Give me Hopper being so happy that Mike and El figured out what was best for both of them and that Will is finally happy. Will, the son of the woman he loves. Will, the kid he went through hell to find, the kid he never gave up looking for even after finding his body. Will, the kid he watched be possessed by the mindflayer and go through unimaginable pain, while also being there for Joyce as she went through it with him. And now, Will. His son.

Give me Hopper not being able to stay mad at Mike anymore anyway, because he sees just how much he and Will love each other. And he trusts Mike with Will. You don't hurt someone who you love that much. You protect them. He knows Mike will protect Will, just like he has.

Give me Hopper loving Will and Mike so much, but showing it in his own Hoppery way. Give me Mike and Will walking around Hawkins holding hands because if anyone bothers them, the Cheif of Police will be on their ass to cite them for harassment.

Just. Give my boys a father figure. A real one.

Caleb McLaughlin once again having to address how poorly he’s treated in comparison with his white co-stars by the fan base is once again a reminder of how fucking ugly this fandom can be. The fact that Lucas is a main party member and has been since day one, has been shown having important arcs, important relationships, and has been extremely vital to the plot in every single season and yet receives far less fan attention than his white counterparts is still the reality four seasons in and there’s a reason for that.

It’s the same reason Erica gets ignored and abused by the fandom. The same reason Argyle has received 1/100th of the attention Eddie has and the reason Steddie is far more popular than Jargyle despite Jonathan and Argyle actually having a relationship (and I like Eddie and Steddie so don’t come at me I’m just saying). The same reason Billy still has an extremely devoted fan base who call him a sweet baby boi and write endless fics about him despite him canonically being a racist asshole who literally threatened Lucas’s life just because he was black. It’s the reason Caleb gets snubbed for awards despite some extremely phenomenal acting, especially in the S4 finale. (hint: it’s racism).

Anyway, Lucas and Caleb are amazing and deserve everything and I just think the ST fandom as a whole needs to be cognizant of how the (very few!) POC in the cast are treated.

You know what’s some bs I don’t believe in? Mike not noticing Will crying his eyes out in the van scene. Don’t you remember when he noticed everything Will did when they went to Rink-O-Mania? All of Will’s eye rolling, and frowning, and looking sad. Mike noticed it, and he brought it up during their fight at the rink. So if you expect me to believe that Mike wasn’t aware of how hurt Will was when they’re squished in the back of a pizza van together, then I’m sorry cuz you’ll be waiting a long time.

The thing that gets me about their whole relationship is the fact that there’s no substance to it. Like, the only thing holding them together is that El think she needs him to survive bc he saved her in the woods all those years ago. Mike even says it in the van scene, “What if after this is all over, she doesn’t need me anymore?” It’s so true tho! Cuz if she doesn’t need him like she needs air to breathe anymore, then what’s left? What do they have to keep them together? I think it’s because of Will that they’ve even lasted this long. His constant reassurance and ushering them together when Mike is doubtful….hm

dean, cas, and sam all getting cursed with some spell that has them acting out their desires and of course dean thinks it’s a genius idea to test this out by throwing random ideas at sam and cas to see what sticks like “sam, I bet you wanna make a smoothie right now” and then sam is trudging into the kitchen to make a smoothie and dean is in hysterics and he’s like “sam, I bet you wanna jump on the table” and sam flips him off and is like “nice try, dean” and then dean spins around to cas and laughs “I bet you wanna kiss me right now,” and it’s silly and goofy because no one here would want to kiss dean right now, but then cas is moving forwards, his hand softly cupping dean’s jaw as he leans in closer, and there’s this moment where cas murmurs brokenly “dean, say something else, anything else, please,” because cas knows his feelings have been exposed now and he can’t back away, and dean can’t stop his mind racing as he realizes, oh, cas actually does want to kiss him, the spell is revealing cas’ true intentions, and maybe it’s revealed his own desires too, and dean leans into cas’ palm and he whispers “I bet I wanna kiss you too” and then they’re kissing, soft and slow and oh so good as they part on a gentle exhale and sam’s like “are you kidding me?? it took some dumbass curse to finally get you two to kiss?” and dean’s like “shut the hell up sam” and then he’s leaning in against cas and brushing their noses against each other as he says “I bet I want another kiss from you” and cas leans in, pressing his lips to dean’s as he murmurs against dean’s mouth “i do too”
