i thought percy’s intro into the mythology word was hard but THIS

- percy finds out he’s a demigod and gets put into a welcoming camp with a safe magical barrier around it and responsible adults (maybe not so much dionysus)

- goes on the quest AFTER mythology and gods and how this new world works is explained to him after a good period of getting to know people, resting, training, being part of the camp PLUS he goes on the quest with an experienced demigod who’s very knowledgeable and his best friend who provides protection and comfort

- the kanes: mom dead dad in a tomb. spirited away to the brooklyn mansion where uncle who brought them there gets himself promptly captured. both possessed by fucking gods, their cat is now a cat lady, get attacked by more gods, are now at the first nome and maybe they’re finally safeeee

- aaand nope turns out the nice head guy is dead now the new head guy is evil and wants them dead and now they’re being hunted

- no rest no training no explaining just utter chaos and a cat lady who sometimes appears
