here's a very rambly & hopefully somewhat organised plotting/starter call for the event. i'm capping each muse at 3 starters each, and 5 threads per mun, though if you dm me either here or discord wanting more than 5 I'll probably say yes 🤷‍♀️ reply to this for starters, or like it & I'll hit you up for plotting.
arizona robbins: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
arizona is a doctor, and when she heard screams coming from inside the maze there was no way she was standing around outside while people could be in the dying. now she's wandering around trying to find people to help. starters:
atticus lincoln: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
like arizona, he thought he would be more help from inside the maze, but now he's more worried about trying to find jo and make sure she's okay, as well as his son who he is hoping is still with the babysitter at home and not somehow also in this maze. starters:
barbie: was dragged in (not open to death)
Tumblr media
there is no way barbie was walking into a creepy corn maze on her own free will, but now that she's here everyone better just make sure they watch their step as she stays on the ground, hoping if she doesn't move nothing bad can happen. starters:
bonnie bennett: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
bonnie was certain she could just, magic herself and everyone else out of the maze, and she's slightly pissed her magic isn't working the way it should. she's now just trying to find her loved ones and make sure they're safe. starters: elena gilbert, caroline forbes,
carlos de vil: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
carlos has no idea what is happening, and he just wants to get out of this maze please. his halloween plans entailed a costume party one of his coworkers was hosting, not being stuck in a creepy maze for a couple of days, or weeks. he's lost track of time of how long he's been here. starters: jane,
celeste kipper: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
celeste saw her sister walking into the maze, and followed after her. now she's lost mags, and is lost herself. though she know's she's in a different time & place she's still convinced this is the capitols doing and wants out. starters: mags flanagan,
charlotte king: was dragged in (not open to death)
Tumblr media
though she's a doctor, and can help people, charlotte is spending a lot of her time worried about her children outside the maze, but is also trying her hardest to find the few people in town she actually knows and likes. starters: amelia shepherd, addison Montgomery,
cleo sertori: went in willingly (not open to death)
Tumblr media
cleo is just getting over remembering that she was murdered a few months ago, and now she's trapped in what she thought was just a fun halloween experience. she just hopes there's no water anywhere around because she doesn't want to end up with a tail in the middle of a maze. starters: rikki Chadwick,
diego: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
diegos main concern is finding out that bree is okay, and he's not stopping until he's searched every square inch of the maze for her. if someone is bleeding around him, he may be tempted to stop for a bit of a snack, he is still a newborn afterall. starters: bree tanner,
edmund bridgerton: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
edmund was under the impression this was just how halloween was celebrated, though the disappearing entrance has given him pause. he's now hoping that his children aren't in here as well as he's heard some rather unpleasant goings on. starters: eloise bridgerton,
enola holmes: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
enola is naturally inquisitive, and clearly hasn't learned from all the previous events in this city, so she decided she'd check out the maze and is now wishing she'd waited for eloise or sherlock to be free to come with her, because she has no idea how she's meant to get back out. starters:
ginny miller: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
ginny has had a confusing few weeks, and now she's trapped in a corn maze the size of most of dc? she just wants out, whether that means scaling the walls or actually finding the exit she doesn't care. starters:
harvey hufflepuff: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
harvey was certain that he would be the master of this maze, but it's been a while and he seems no closer to getting out than he did when he walked in. he just hopes he finds his way out soon, he's getting hungry and his magic isn't working properly. starters:
laurent da revin: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
though laurent was dragged in, he isn't against this meaning he's got a free buffet of whoever in town he wants to eat. he's enjoying himself, despite the fact he's seemingly stuck. as long as he doesn't run into victoria asking for any more favors. starters: drusilla keeble
lexie grey: went in willingly (not open to death)
Tumblr media
lexie naively thought this was going to be fun, how bad could a maze be? now she can hear screams and is trying to do whatever she can to help people she finds injured, as well as hoping that one of the injured isn't someone she cares about. starters:
lily luna potter: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
lily thought she was having a date with her cute coworker, and now they're trapped in a maze even their wands can't get them out of? she hates it, but she's glad that harriet is by her side, she should know what to do, right? starters: harriet hufflepuff,
liv moore: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
though it only feels like days since she entered the maze, liv knows it's been longer because she's starting to feel the effects of no brains for quite some time. she's getting hungry, so she's staying away from people so she doesn't go full on zombie mode and become a part of the theatrics. starters: peyton Charles,
lola fleming narcisse: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
lola had been thinking about bringing john to the maze, but now that she's stuck in here she's glad he's at home with a sitter. she's now just trying her hardest to find her way out, and hoping someone she finds along the way can help her. starters:
melissa glaser: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
melissa thought she was going to be much better at finding her way out of a maze than she seems to be, is she walking in circles? she feels like she's going in circles. she's getting tired. starters: eric northman, faye chamberlain,
mia thermopolis: was dragged in (not open to death)
Tumblr media
sure, mia was dragged into this maze, but how bad could it be? she's already fallen over a few times, and can't seem to find her way out. she'd really like some help, please. starters: clarisse renaldi,
mika yasuda: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
mika wanted a break from work, and now she just keeps coming across people who've been hurt in this stupid halloween maze. she wants to find her way out, or find someone who can be more help than a surgical intern. she's trying her best. starters:
noel kahn: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
noel has very few hobbies, and his biggest one is fucking with the liars. now he's stuck in a corn maze because he thought it was a fun idea to scare them? good going noel. starters: hanna marin,
penelope park: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
penelope is confused why her magic isn't seeming to do what it should to help her, and the people she cares about get out. she just wants to leave, she's starting to panic. starters:
rebekah mikaelson: went in willingly (open to death)
Tumblr media
rebekah thought this would be fun, it's not. she's stuck in a maze, and everyone seems to be getting hurt around her, which is making her feel things she doesn't understand, why is she hungry? starters: elijah mikaelson,
simon basset: was dragged in (open to death)
Tumblr media
simon doesn't want to be in a maze, halloween isn't his thing. but he's heard screams from further in that he's now worried are daphne, who he still feels some sort of attachment to and he's going to check it out. starters: daphne bridgerton,

@grcycosmcs said : describe your muse’s handwriting. do they prefer using pens or pencils? is their handwriting neat or messy? do they use all caps? ( for filippa )
it depends on the paper; certain types of paper, they'll want to use pencil, and others pen, depending on erasability/smudgeability/etc. but i would say that filippa's handwriting is a controlled-messy. it's neat enough that anyone could read it with ease, but it's not perfect, and definitely more of a scrawl than evenly spaced letters. she would never use all caps.
@tragcdysewn said : how do they handle being upset/angry? do they yell, cry, go silent, etc? (filippa im 99% sure i misspelled it 😭)
you did misspell it the first time, thank you. filippa's not one to start arguments, usually, but if she gets worked up, she'll voice her opinion. her voice will get really low and serious and do-not-fuck-with-me rather than an increase in volume or pitch, though. and then after the initial conflict they'll go silent and ghost all parties involved until the situation is resolved.
@infcinity said : what’s currently in their pockets/purse/etc? for filippa
in their bag, they'd have: a light paperback book, some pens, chapstick or lip gloss, phone, phone charger, wallet with the bare basics of one credit card and an id and a metro card, a few dollars in cash, and a granola bar or some kind of protein bar.
@masqce said : [ blue lagoon ]  how do they typically react when faced with something they fear? ( for filippa )
head-on, with no visible reaction. filippa will stand her ground, package all the discomfort up internally and deal with it later.
@tragcdysewn said : [ zombie ] do they believe in life after death? (for filippa)
they're undecided. the thing is: either she's going to find out someday, or she won't, so there's no point spending time considering it either way.
@irresistiibles said : [ screwdriver ]  which habit do they wish they could get rid of? (for filippa)
she'll get pressured into tasks at work at the theater that aren't technically their job, and will get halfway through and realize, 'why am i doing this? this is not my job.' but filippa will finish the task anyway, for the good of the production and rest of the cast and crew. if she realizes immediately that it's not under her jurisdiction, she's able to say no. she's not a pushover. but a lot of the times, they're simply so used to doing what she's told without question that they won't question it until later. and filippa's so competent that people will put things on her without taking into account how many other people have already done the same. so i would say that the habit they want to break is: doing what they're told, lmao.

Do you think zombies moan because they’re always in pain?
It’s actually kinda sad to think about.
Don’t ask why this came to me randomly. I do not control my thoughts.

their eyes widen, equal parts intrigued and amazed, and michael has k’s full attention. “well, when you put it like... that, it sounds like a horde or something. i mean, that’s what the word means, i guess, but like hordes of zombies! a ridiculous amount... and absolutely terrifying.”

I was in a mall and I meet Dream of the Endless.
He played a video game were he shared an account with his sister Death.
He played it on a big screen so everybody could see it and people were laughing at him because he was lame and the game was old.
After that, purple zombies attacked and I woke up.
Also I was so happy to have Dream in my dream because I was like, "The king of dreams is in my dream! Like wow!" He was like a famous person for me and after I remembered that he is not real and I was like, "Oh..."

Divorce quartets dynamic is fucking funny this season. Scott and Martyn decided to move in with each other and steal Cleo's brand of being Mean Girls. Pearl passive aggressively asking Martyn if he has Tilly and Martyn going "oh yeah I cremated her :)" and throwing gunpowder on the floor. Martyn telling BigB not to trust Pearl because if "the moon is high, you might die". Cleo gaslighting Pearl into being her ally and then when Cleo asks for books Pearl straight up lies and starts punching BigB so he won't tell her. Cleo and Martyn having the world's most awkward conversation and Cleo going "you and Scott are... sort of survivery". Pearl standing on a tree and staring at Scott instead of walking up to him like a normal person. Scott spending an entire episode making his and Martyn's house look cute and designing their shared storage system to only suit him and leaving Martyn to cope. Cleo doing their very best to ignore them all and juggling Scar and Bdubs forcing her to adopt them, allying with the entire server and the Bad Boys turning their base into bread and killing them whilst Pearl is like thirty blocks away and blatantly not helping. Most divorced polycule EVER. I am studying their relationship under a microscope.

I get what you mean through that post about TWD but for the sake of someone who can't articulate why, what is political abt TWD?
do not take what I’m about to say as the only possible interpretation of the walking dead - or zombie apocalypse media more broadly, but twd acts as a handy representative for the genre in the popular north american consciousness I think, so I will be using it interchangeably. But I think there are a couple productive perspectives you can take with this kind of media.
fundamentally I think twd is horror aimed at the middle class. It presents a world where the state is no longer present, where your fear of other people cannot be soothed by calling the police (the protagonist of the show being a cop is notable here). the state in this imaginary is the sole barrier between civilisation and savagery. People turn on each other, loot, destroy property, and are generally untrustworthy. Zombies are an unthinking hoard of non-persons who only spread disease and death. The suburb is no longer safe. The ‘message’ or thesis of twd and shows like it is that human beings are only orderly and polite to one another so long as there is a state to enforce these social norms, and absent that, everyone will turn on each other (the “social contract”). Zombies in this case are less an expression of medical anxieties about a pandemic (although that’s not not a concern), but more so an expression of concerns about ‘mass immigration’ and a general racial intrusion into white suburban life. Zombies aren’t just a plague people deal with, but almost always cause the complete dissolution of American society. I don’t think you can decouple zombies in popular American consciousness from the racial anxieties of white people.
and more deeply than that I think american zombie media is a similar type of expression of what Cesaire calls the boomerang effect - what colonial powers do overseas they will eventually do to themselves. Now he was speaking of Europe’s turn to fascism (fascism in this instance being framed as a form of domestic colonialism), and twd is not necessarily presenting zombies as a punishment we bring on ourselves. America and Canada are also both settler colonial states, meaning that settlers permanently occupy the land they have invaded instead of returning home, so this is slightly different. But I think when people imagine zombie apocalypses, they are working through a scenario where their own civilisation is devastated by some invading force, where their stolen property and land are stolen back from them. They are working through an imagined boomerang effect, a fantasy where they are the blameless victims and their ill-gotten gains are taken from them unjustly. The history of settler colonial states is such a horrific, apocalyptic state of affairs that projecting that back onto oneself is a way of working through that history without ever reckoning with what that means. It is easier to fear colonialism happening to you than to extend sympathy to those who have been dispossessed by your ancestors, and in this configuration, you don’t have to confront your own way of life or the part you play in this history.
And it’s doing other stuff too. I think there’s a lot you can dig into with how masculinity is portrayed in these types of shows - men protecting their families by killing hoards of zombies, by being rewarded at every turn for distrusting other people and being generally anti-social. White men in particular have internalised ideas about masculinity that are bound up in violence and racial superiority, and zombie media provides a handy fantasy in which you’re forced to protect your wife and kids by killing as many people as humanly possible. In this framework, the zombie apocalypse is almost a welcome state of affairs, facilitating a return of traditional masculinity where men can freely express their violent desires, and their victims are mindless diseased non-persons who you are morally obligated to destroy. Zombie apocalypses provide a scenario where masculinity is valuable again. It might be instructive to consider zombie media as “inventing a guy to get mad at” so you have some place to put these ideas about masculine and racial domination. White middle class Americans are probably the safest group of people on planet earth, but because of that sustained safety you need to invent imagined scenarios where the violence of your identity as a white person or a man is still relevant, and so shoving that into a fantasy where you HAVE to kill people is alluring. Of course, whiteness and masculinity still produce a lot of violence in the world and these people are generally violent in both direct and indirect ways (calling the cops on black people, mass shootings, etc), but like it’s harder to consider yourself a conquering hero while dialling 911 you know. I think this is a wish fulfilment fantasy in its purest form, confirming all of their racial paranoias and providing them with a space where they are REQUIRED to kill shitloads of people.
There’s definitely more you can say but I’ll cut it off for now. And just to be clear I’m not saying enjoying twd or the last of us or anything else makes you a white suprematist or whatever, but zombies in popular consciousness are (at least partially) tapping into the anxieties present in white supremacist settler colonial states. I can’t speak to the entire genre, and I’m sure there are instances where zombie apocalypses are presented differently, but at least in this instance twd is generally reactionary and provides a safe space for people to work out their feelings about whiteness and masculinity while living in the imperial core

R/n: If I was bitten by a zombie, what would you do?
Horangi: Shhhhh… Wait? What kind of zombie? Shaun Of The Dead, World War Z or Night Of The Living Dead zombie?
R/n: Why?
Horangi: Because World War Z zombies are fast, Shaun Of The Dead zombies can be trained, and Night Of The Living Dead zombies are slow.
R/n: Um, Shaun Of The Dead.
Horangi: I’d probably do what he did with Nick Frost at the end: train you to play video games with me. If you had picked one of the other two I would’ve shot you. Repeatedly. In the face.

[Curiously, this zombie you and your party have chanced upon has managed to keep his wits about him. His speech still coherent, he asks to join your party in the hopes of finding his ‘other half’. He says he can offer protection from the other zombies and help venture into densely populated areas that only a man with a death wish would enter. A normal human man that is. Giving birth to a zombie is extremely traumatic to your body. The pregnancies are difficult, the birth is violent due to the feral nature of zombies in their natural state, and they receive next to no medical aid. It’s why so many zombies are raised by single fathers, why those who are lucky enough to still have their mom around are usually only children. To survive one pregnancy is rare enough, but a second zombie pregnancy is honestly testing fate at that point.
Zed’s mother died giving birth to Zoey. It’s all she’s ever known, though it’s not as hard on her when most of her zombie friends have similar family dynamics. At least in that way she’s not the odd one out. Zed did know his mom, he’d been old enough to understand what was happening when she started to get sicker and sicker as the pregnancy progressed. He refused to eat or speak for days after his dad had come home from the hospital alone with Zoey in his arms, without the woman who’d raised him, who was so kind and beautiful and genuine.
When Addison told him she was pregnant, he nearly threw up from the sudden, intense fear that surged over him like a tidal wave, threatening to knock him over. The memories came rushing back, memories he tried so hard not to think about. But this time it was Addison instead of his mom. In his nightmares, he watched her body grow skinnier as the zombie baby drained the life from her, stole her nutrients, kicked at her until she couldn’t keep anything down. He’d heard horror stories from others with similar experiences as his own, other zombies who were old enough to remember the loss of their mother.
He had never spoken to Addison about his mom before, but he couldn’t exactly keep it from her when she looked at him with such worry in her eyes, like she thought he was upset with her rather than angry at the world for making such unfair situations. So he opened up, cried into her arms as he described his feelings in detail that he’d never told anyone, not even his dad, not even Eliza.
“I won’t leave you,” Addison promised, “I’ll fight even if it seems impossible. I told you that someday we would have our happily ever after and no one can take that from us.”
