Forest of Lights

The Avatar has been missing for a century, and the spirits are getting bold. One night, Katara watches the southern lights fall and gets trapped in the rapidly growing ice forest. On his ship, Prince Zuko sees those same lights and decides to investigate.

Soon, they run into each other in the Forest of Lights. By now, Katara has learnt that she needs to find the Avatar to save the world. And right now, the only way to do so in time is to team up with her biggest opponent – Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation.

The Legend of Katara: Breath of Honor

I’m so excited to share this work I made for @zkbigbang​  I actually finished it a month or so ago, and it’s just been sitting there lonely in the dark.  This was fun collab because it combined two of my favorite fandoms, Breath of the Wild and ATLA.

As soon as I saw the description of this scene from A Light in the Darkness with these two kiddos being sassy at each other, I knew that I had to try drawing them for my @zkbigbang piece. They're just so cute when they're being grumpy!

Heh heh so I’ll admit I must be slightly crazy because I had the honor of joining this team late for the @zkbigbang and yet I could not stop myself from drawing these five scenes. The Zutara Big Bang is set to return for a third time in 2024! If you are a writer, beta reader, or artist who would be interested in joining us for another year of celebration, please complete the interest check form below!

Before you get started, please keep in mind that:

The Big Bang is open to fans of all ages

All projects submitted for the Big Bang must be SFW (rated G or T on AO3)

Minimum project lengths for writers are 6,000 words for oneshots and 10,000 words for multichapters

Artists in any medium (visual, musical, etc.) are welcome to join

Writers' project proposals need to be submitted between April 7, 2024 - April 15, 2024 for bidding in late April

The Big Bang will run from April 28, 2024 - August 25, 2024

The Big Bang will include an anonymous posting period. Writers, you're welcome to announce that you plan on participating, but please keep any specific details about your story secret!

More detailed information about the event will be posted after the interest check closes on March 2, 2024!

We Saw a Spark

Sokka and the rest of her family sounded despairing and worried when they told Katara she made her job her entire world and purpose, but she couldn't see that as a bad thing. Her hands saved the lives of other people when they needed saving the most. And maybe it was her trying to stop any other people feeling like she did when her mother died. And maybe the times she couldn't save them felt like a piece of her being cut away and buried forever. But she didn't know who she would be if she turned her back on people who needed her. Which was why people in the emergency field who were arrogant and reckless and rude, like the scarred newbie firefighter from Spirits-Cared-Where, really got on her nerves.

And then there was a 24-hour diner after a huge fire, and a crack of something behind that man's mask, and Katara tried to squash the hope that maybe, for the first time in her thirty years, she'd found somebody who understood her world because they lived it, too.

I drew the scene where Katara pulled Zuko into the sea and laughed while he surfaced looking slightly annoyed.
