Alright, enough dilly dallying...
Time to get back to writing.
Because...
I've filled out the form for Zutara Big Bang 2024
Yeah so, I may have changed up a couple things but you know how it goes. Let's see if I can do a multi chapter story in a month...
Oh wait, I wrote a whole 32 chapters in less than two weeks before. I was on a roll.
I don't necessarily have this story planned out all the way, just snippets here and there that I have to write to. That's gonna be the tricky part.
The other thing is that I write all my stories with my thumbs because I use my phone. So far I have written 700,000 words on my phone in stories. Yes, I do have corporal tunnel syndrome... no i won't stop because typing on a computer actually hurts worse.
So in honor of my new project, I will be posting chapters as often as I can and in no rush.
Because if I rush, it's gonna lead to burnout and I don't need the burnout again (see my posts about my Devil May Cry stories). Burnout bad. Rushing bad. Taking time very good.
Anyway, going work on Zutara fic about an epidemic and a plot.
I'd like to preface this story does include events up to The Rift and that is where I break off Canon. Things are a bit dicey in the Fire Nation in this story.

The Zutara Big Bang is set to return for a third time in 2024! If you are a writer, beta reader, or artist who would be interested in joining us for another year of celebration, please complete the interest check form below!
Before you get started, please keep in mind that:
The Big Bang is open to fans of all ages
All projects submitted for the Big Bang must be SFW (rated G or T on AO3)
Minimum project lengths for writers are 6,000 words for oneshots and 10,000 words for multichapters
Artists in any medium (visual, musical, etc.) are welcome to join
Writers' project proposals need to be submitted between April 7, 2024 - April 15, 2024 for bidding in late April
The Big Bang will run from April 28, 2024 - August 25, 2024
The Big Bang will include an anonymous posting period. Writers, you're welcome to announce that you plan on participating, but please keep any specific details about your story secret!
More detailed information about the event will be posted after the interest check closes on March 2, 2024!

ZKBB 2024 Basic Guidelines
What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a collaborative event where writers are paired with artists and beta readers to write and edit a long fic with accompanying fanart within a specific period of time. In a traditional Big Bang, writers come up with their own story idea, and artists and betas bid for places on writers’ teams based on the story ideas submitted.
What are the story requirements for this Big Bang?
All stories should be centered around Zuko and Katara and their relationship.
Oneshots should meet a minimum word count of 6,000 words when completed, and multichapters should meet a minimum word count of 10,000 words before the end of the event.
Stories must be rated G or T on AO3
Big Bang fics must be new, standalone works. No continuations of existing series or published WIPs are allowed.
Story ideas should be secret before the start of the event to allow for fair, anonymous project bidding.
What are the roles and expectations for this Big Bang?
Writers will be expected to come up with their own story ideas, meet word count checkpoints throughout the event, share their progress with their team, and communicate with their team and the mods as needed.
Artists will be expected to create at least one finished piece of art for their project(s). Any type of art is welcome. Artists will be asked to meet several checkpoints throughout the event, and should share their progress with their teams as the event continues.
Betas will be expected to work closely with the writer and provide advice and feedback as the story is written. All beta readers should be able to provide SPaG feedback, and may be asked to provide additional support with plot and other creative decisions.
Other information
All participants are required to be active in our event Discord server. Work space within the event server will be provided for every team, and separate servers for individual projects are not allowed.
Members who are inactive for three consecutive weeks may be dropped from their project(s) or the event as a whole.
Members who miss formal check-ins (see our event schedule for dates) or fall behind on their progress will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Members are welcome to announce their participation in the Big Bang, but should not discuss specifics about their project(s) publicly until after posting begins (or for writers, after the reveal date).
Use of any AI text or image generators is not welcome in the Big Bang.

ZKBB 2024 Writer Guidelines
Story Requirements:
All stories should be centered around Zuko and Katara and their relationship.
Oneshots should meet a minimum word count of 6,000 words when completed, and multichapters should meet a minimum word count of 10,000 words before the end of the event.
Stories must be rated G or T on AO3
Big Bang fics must be new, standalone works. No continuations of existing series or published WIPs are allowed.
Story ideas should be secret before the start of the event to allow for fair, anonymous project bidding.
Use of any AI text generators is not welcome in the Big Bang.
Stories will be posted to an anonymous AO3 collection for two weeks at the end of the event before writers’ information is revealed publicly. This rule is intended to give lesser-known writers more visibility - please do not discuss specifics of your Big Bang project outside of the event server until writers are revealed.
Summary Submissions:
After joining the event Discord server, all writers will have to submit information about their planned story for artists and betas to bid on. In case you’d like to get an early start on writing up your summaries, this is the information required on the summary submission form:
A working title for your story: This can be the title that you plan to use when you post to AO3 or something as simple as “Fake Dating AU” or “CoD Canon Divergence”
The type of story you’re planning to write: oneshot or multichapter
A “short” summary of your story: the type of summary that you might use to promote your story on AO3 or Tumblr. This summary doesn’t have to cover the plot of your story in detail - it can just be catchy and capture the ~vibes~ of the story
An “extended” summary of your story: a summary/outline that includes more plot details and important scenes for your potential artists and betas’ reference. This summary doesn’t have to be extensive, but it should give your team a better idea of where the story is going and the sorts of scenes that could be translated into artwork
Any AO3 archive warnings that will apply to your story
Any other content warnings that may apply
Other planned relationships that will appear in the story
What type of beta reader you’d like to work with: SPaG, Planning, Creative, Cheer Reader, etc
How many Discord channels you want for your project: we’re offering up to 3 text channels and a voice channel for every project. If you change your mind about this later, just let your mod know.
Sample summary submissions (from current mods' past Big Bang fics) can be found here.
If the mod team has any questions or concerns about your submission (if you’ve accidentally chosen the same working title as someone else, or you’ve included content warnings that don’t usually appear in G or T rated fics, for example), we’ll be in contact with you before getting your project channel(s) set up in the server.
Writer Check-Ins:
At each formal writers’ check-in, you’ll be asked to provide your current word count so that the mods can gauge your progress. Suggested word count milestones for each check-in are:
Saturday, May 18 - Oneshots: 1,800, Multichapters: 3000
Saturday, June 8 - Oneshots: 3,600, Multichapters: 6,000
Saturday, June 29 - Oneshots: 5,400, Multichapters: 9,000
Saturday, July 6 - Writers' Draft Deadline
Saturday, July 20 - Oneshots: have the first 2,000 words of your fic edited, Multichapters: have the first 3,000 words of your fic edited
Saturday, August 10 - Oneshots: have the first 4,000 words of your fic edited, Multichapters: have the first 7,000 words of your fic edited
Saturday, August 24 - Have your entire fic (or chapters up to the minimum 10,000 word count edited

Hello! I'm interested in joining the BB as an artist, but tumblr's recent move to partner with ai companies has me concerned about using tumblr as a place to post my artwork going forward. Would posting the finished art on tumblr be a requirement, or would it be okay to simply post to ao3 instead?
Hey, anon! Your concern is completely understandable, and I hate that AI is something we have to think about at this point. And for the record, use of any AI text or art generation is contrary to the purpose of the Big Bang and isn't welcome in this event. We'll be updating our event guidelines for this year to reflect that soon.
I did talk it over with the rest of the mod team, and for now, we are still requiring that art be posted to Tumblr. We want everyone to be able to see our participants' work on a common platform, and for better or worse, Tumblr is the platform that works the best for us. AO3 is amazing, but it's not a place where people tend to look for visual art, and any images you see on there (aside from profile pictures) have to be hosted on another site anyway since the AO3 servers aren't set up to handle image hosting.
However, we have no problem with artists taking other precautions to protect their work. In fact, we would highly encourage it. You can opt out of Tumblr's third party sharing under the visibility section of blog settings on web, which should theoretically block AI companies from using your work - we opted out of third party sharing here on the event blog as soon as I figured out where the button was, but it's hard to say how much that will protect the people we reblog from. We'd encourage everyone to opt out on their personal blogs and sideblogs to be safe. And as an extra precaution, you can always run your finished art through Glaze to cloak it from any bots that might be trying to mimic your style as well as Nightshade to poison the bots before posting. We're running this event for the human Zutara fans who want to spend their time and effort with us. If a few AI generation models get hurt along the way, that's a bonus!
PS: this information mostly applies to visual art - we do welcome other types of art in the Big Bang, but posting requirements and precautions against AI may vary by medium. Let us know if you have any questions!
