what i love about the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi of it all is that...it's not just that he's famous and therefore widely recognizable wherever he goes. like yes that is very funny because he was an exorcist before he became a famous actor, which means he CHOSE, on purpose, a day job that would make it harder to hide his double life/secret identity from the hordes of his adoring public, but it's more than that. it's not just that he's famous, it's that he's famous specifically for being an ACTOR, aka a person whose job it is to dissimulate, to make believe, to inhabit roles and emotions other than his own. like he decided he was going to become as visible as possible (which again was literally not necessary! he could have gone into any other career for his day job!!) but in such a way that everyone would see him but no one would see him - they would just see his various made-up personas, including the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi persona. i can't decide if he's a genius or if he just made so many absurd decisions that they canceled each other out and circled back around to working out. he's either playing 9-dimensional chess or he's eating the pieces. too soon to say.

Finished the Pride and Prejudice book and 2005 movie and I gotta say I liked the movie way better

#sinful i know #but other than voluma three being a little rushed (i think the movie should've been 2 and a half hours instead of just 2) #it was really faithful and the stuff that was added improved it so much #two of my three favorite lines weren't in the book #and actually being able to see darcy compared to the mostly bare bones description we get of things visually in the book #made his struggle with his feelings so much clearer #and generally made the darcy/lizzie romance leagues better #though i am mad they took out the father's realization of how he's failed as a parent for the younger siblings #cause i really appreciated that #and the letter to lady catherine also not being here cause that was funny #but the movie gave us bingley practicing how to enter the bennet house with mr darcy #it gave us ''you have bewitched me body and soul and i love... i love... i love you'' #and it gave us the ending bit about mrs. darcy #they changed up georgina's personality and made her less shy but the stuff we got from that change was so worth it #all in all the movie was mostly an improvement #(this is a personal opinion tho! most people like the book better so) #pride and prejudice

Also the first time I played Portal 2 I flailed through the escape, died multiple times during The Part Where He Kills You, took about 20 minutes at the boss fight before I figured out even how to attach cores, and just generally sucked at the game, which is my usual state of being for video games more complicated than point-and-shooters, but during the last few moments of the game when the roof caved in and the moon appeared I instantly knew what to do and I’m super proud of myself for that.

#'portal 2 sucks because their playtesters were getting frustrated with the puzzles and so they made them easier' cope #it is the job of the video game designer to design puzzles that make their players feel smart not stupid #if the puzzles make you feel stupid then its a bad video game end of story #although it would have been cool if theyd released the original puzzles as dlc or something #but yeah overall when people pull out that complaint i end the conversation immediately #wanting a video game dev to make a game that is so hard no one can figure it out #is like wanting an author to write a book using only a made up language that only they know #so the conlang nerds can work it out #which would be fun #but like. obviously thats an absurd idea #and also an objectively bad idea no matter how much it appeals to a small subset of nerds with no lives #you see what im getting at

#lotr good #lol i know i already made a post about it earlier this week but i finished watching the extended movies<\3 #reading the appendices is slightly on halt since its no less work than studying but #i think readinf the books was soooo much fun like i already really miss being able to pick it up every day for month #the fact that you spend so much more time reading than watching a movie sort of makes the connection a bit stronger in a way #like im not sure how many hours i spent reading all 3 books over four weeks but it must be like 40 at least #being able to see it all in movie form is soo lovely cause 1) theyre just such fun movies and 2) you dont have to work your brain to #visualize things as much #although i did end up getting quite used to the writing style and endless describing of landscapes #so i didnt have to focus super hard anymore after a while #but yeah still its nice to just be able to sit back and let it sorta come at you rather than actively read it all #though a difference is that in the book if you find a scene or quote that hits hard you can just sort of read it over and over while still #staying in the zone or the vibe of the scene #whereas in a movie you can rewind of course but it breaks it up a bit xD #sometimes while reading i would loop a quote 4 or 5 times in my head before moving on #idk wtf i am talking about its almost 4am but i am so surprised i ended up liking lotr so much #like i wanted to watch it cause i was curious and general cultural education and stuff but especially after reading of course #ive not really had a new interest where i can like do endless research and learn soo many things about it for quite a while #the experience of finding something new and like slowly familiarizing yourself with it more and more is so much fun #also sjfjdj at me having to read and watch the grey havens scene twice within a week #first the book last monday and now the movie #me sobbing both times😭 #its just really good #and i reiterate because it must be said #nobody ever did and nobody ever will do it like samwise gamgee #shoutout to taking the hobbits to ise gard #shoutout to the shire theme constantly transitioning into the gridania theme in my head #and good night (collapses) #long post #< in case of accidental tag opening sjfjdj
