A/N ⎯ as much as i love smut and everything about it, it'll never beat my love for fluff and the pureness of it all. this is super short but i just wanted to try something cute

there's something divinely beautiful about existing with someone without having to do much at all. the ease that comes with being beside them as though there's no place else in the universe that matters. it's the delight that comes with watching them exist, eyes taking in the gentle rise and fall of their chest as they breathe and ears drowning in the sound of their voice or beautiful laughter.

chris doesn't exactly know when he fell for alina, it just sort of happened and he hasn't been able to do anything but ever since. it was like one second she was the friend he'd always had and the next he was falling for her and the way her hugs made him feel like he was the safest person ever or the way her mere presence was enough to make him light up with joy. it wasn't supposed to happen but it did and he's so fucking thankful no matter how unexpected it was.

as he watches her now, he knows he could do this forever. he could god honestly watch her for a lifetime and die happy because at least he died watching the love of his life. love is indeed a strong emotion but it takes no effort for him to love her. loving her is as easy as breathing and at times, it feels like he isn't thinking about his feelings. his feelings just float in the air and simmer there like oxygen. he loves her but there's no complications to it.

her eyes flutter in the sunlight and he watches the gentle hue cascade across her face, making it glow in a way he finds mesmerising. it's endearing really because he often views her as his own little sun. she can make him shine and sing and that's why he feels so strongly for her. her nose wrinkles as she laughs at something and he wants to kiss it, to capture the image forever.

he pulls her closer to him and wraps his arms around her, hugging her tightly because she's so fucking warm and cosy. her head lays against his chest for a moment before she turns around and locks eyes with him. he swears he forgets his purpose for a second when she connects their lips. the familiar feeling soon washes over him like a tide and he kisses back instantly, welcoming the soft brush of her lips against his.

when they pull apart, they rest their foreheads together and chris knows this is where he's supposed to be, knows this is who he's meant to be with. he pecks her forehead lightly and she giggles, making him repeat his actions so he can hear the adorable sound again.

"you're very smiley," she tells him, prodding at his grin with her finger jokingly.

he smiles even further at the small gesture, "you're so fucking cute baby."

she smiles at him in return, a rosy look covering her cheeks at the compliment and chris never wants to part his eyes from her. he's stuck to the sight of her like glue but he doesn't find it within himself to care.

"you're cute," she retorts as she sits on his lap, her legs moving on either side of his torso as she falls into his chest, inhaling softly.

it feels like home. the embrace feels like normality in the best way possible. it's a touch of no return, one that doesn't need to lead to anything else. it's pure and they both adore that as they sink into it with their hearts for all they can.

she draws patterns on top of his t-shirt, her face still snuggled into his chest, and he exhales slowly, content with everything around him.

when she lifts her head and watches their surroundings, he in turn chooses to watch her. he watches the small smile on her face and the shine in her eyes as she takes everything in. sure, the scene around him is beautiful but he can't exactly look at that when the most beautiful thing is currently on his lap.

"that tree is so pretty," her voice sounds after a few moments but chris simply keeps his eyes on her.

"so fucking pretty," he says but he's not really talking about the tree but then again, she doesn't need to know that. he can admire her beauty without making it known; he always does.

Do you per chance imagine them a certain way? I want to make some fan art and it just always help me to have something to go off of. Any of the readers from any story will do honestly because I adore them all! Sorry to be a bother about this by the way

Oh, it's not a bother~ No worries~

Now for this ask I'm gonna use mainly {Unwanted Soul} for examples, so any spoilers for those that don't read this. Other series are mentioned here and there.

My Works: MASTERLIST (check out the series you haven't heard before would be appreciated~)

I do imagine them a certain way, cause that's how the personality and certain characteristics come out to the design of Reader. I just remove the minor details like the 'likes' or 'dislikes' that have no real meaning to the story.

Like in {Unwanted Soul} you can say you like Japanese food and dislike dogs. So? Alastor's liking you the same, if you like that type of food, he'll just learn to cook it. If you dislike dogs, then he'll avoid them. There's no obvious effect to the story as a whole or changes your character interaction.

In terms of appearance, for stories with a human Reader, I'll think if it's necessary for a certain skin colour set or like height and the like. Usually there's none cause there's no deciding factor. Otherwise, free range for you artists to draw to your liking.

As for demonic Reader, I'll think if it's necessary for a specific species. Like in {The Raven's Deer}, even though the Reader is Zestial's younger sibling, you're depicited as a raven type demon and the powers focuses around that, it's also the dynamic of a raven and deer that I was aiming for. In {Unwanted Soul}, I specifically said the species doesn't matter because the focus was on the power you possess.

Last is the unique Reader, like {The Spirit's Favourite Human}, that one is specifically stated that you're a spirit that protects the forest you manifested in, nothing else. Cause the only interest was that you are a spirit. You'd normally think of elves and forest spirits, or whatever since it's already stated.

Now I'm aware you're asking for specific format to follow in a drawing to match what I have in mind. But that's more like an OC, in my opinion. What I hope to offer in my stories of [character] x Reader is that a number of people can insert their likes and wants (basically an OC appearance) into the Reader's design without saying what's right or wrong.

You can check {Unwanted Soul}'s Demonic Design for fan art, there are some specifics I listed and clothing choices of what I had in mind. There are a few drawings that I saw already and they are fire!

The Masterpost of Info and Rules

So hi, hello, this is my first ever ask blog so don't mind if I seem like I don't know what I'm doing - because I don't.

What's 'Altogether Now Au'?

Altogether Now is my silly lil Rain World AU dedicated to putting these slugcats together like a DnD party and throwing them into scenarios. This blog decides to take place after the initial major story elements of the au for the purpose of having these scugs already in an established group.

This means the scugs have already met FP, LttM, and are currently deciding to just explore and live - seeing what happens. There are very certain story events that do not take place, or are altered, so feel free to send asks about the 'campaign' timeframe, the present 'explore and be a funky lil group' or even about the future of the scugs (just mention it in your ask please!)

Who's available to ask?

As of now, only the main slugcats (and one oc). In the future, other ocs might be available to ask, but I doubt I'll add the iterators themselves to be recipients. They can be drawn as an answer but you'd have to ask a slugcat.

Any plans for this blog?

At some point, I want to add my gijinka's of the characters into the mix, but to start off with I'm going to stick with the regular scugs!

OMG, YES. both as a 9 year old and as a young adult. She even becomes somewhat of a bodyguard later (slight spoiler?), but her means of protection are a bit... unconventional. but definitely. if she met me and found out i decided her fate, jesus, my life would be over, but not in a dead way, which is worse.

8. has there been any part of having this oc (designing, writing, drawing, etc…) that was difficult?

Finding her voice, because I wanted her speech patterns, thinking process and writing style to be so unique that is hard to mistake her for someone else. I don't know if I nailed it, but the idea of going back to write her after four months of not touching that story makes me feel a bit anxious, because what if it doesn't sound like her anymore, you know?

Another thing is her appearance, because at the very beginning I wanted her to be like the female version of L, but then I changed it, 'cause I thought it would've been a bit unoriginal, and after I enstablished her many problems, I also realised that it would've defeated one point of the story.

9. what is your favorite part of having this oc?

As much as writing her is hard for me, I still love writing her. It's my favourite part.

All her interactions with L are funny to write, like

"Are you sure you're in the right kind of institution, Ethelinda?" L asked as I rested my hand on the doorknob. "Do you want to find the answer to that too?"

but those with Lex are funnier. She doesn't want to be mean to him, but comes across like that, and doesn't even realise it, like she thinks saying stuff like, "Is he [Simas] sharp-sighted or are you limited in observation? It wouldn't be the first time you've demonstrated that" is acceptable. She says more out of pocket stuff later on, but even now, their dynamic is so good imo. Especially because Lex thinks she's just a bit strange you know, but in a cute and harmelss way, and then they have this type of conversations:

"So..." He looked around for a second. "How is that worse?" "The possibility was enough." "You could have paralysed me." "I could do far worse." "What...?" He whispered and I realised what I had just said and bitterly regretted it.

And he's like, "tf... is she joking right? of course she is", while she's thinking of threating him into silence, because nobody has to know about her inclinations.

Her one liners are another thing that I adore, like the one I remember right now:

"Our friendship does not involve charity work." (to Ayla and Rae about L)

"Maybe you'd better start walking so you can make it to your room by tonight." (to Lex when he has crutches)

Lastly, how she spins some stories when she needs to lie. the grade exam accident is just... so good.

Before handing over the finished product, it seemed to me that everything had proceeded well: there had been no heated bickering, no bitter disagreements, we had managed to find a middle way and had even finished it before the deadline, so that we had the opportunity to reread it as many times as we felt the need to. However, at the time of the result, Roger had informed us that the work had fulfilled almost none of the requirements, which was a surprise. Simas had left the room immediately, without waiting for any explanation. I had stayed because I did not want to sour Roger's opinion of me. Apparently, the text had a thesis up to a certain point, before changing completely and continuing with another one, contradicting everything stated above. It had been logical for him to think that we had not actually communicated or had a dialogue; therefore, I had not argued back.

it's like... imagine if someone came to you and said like, "yeah, we worked so hard and i think we did a very good job. we even went over the finished product together and it was perfect, but then the teacher said that we fucking sucked ass and from his pov, that's true, that's so logical to think. i can't argue against that so i didn't defend us and we failed. have a wonderful two years redoing this grade :)"

best part is that she thinks she's great at lying like girl. are you sure about that.

but yeah. My favourite part of having her is writing her, basically.

a piece I'm most proud of from this year has to be Leo watching the snow which you can find here -> (Leo watching the snow)

I had the idea to draw this and immediately got to work, I love watching a snowstorm or even just a light flurry, it's beautiful and I tried to capture it the way I saw it with my favourite boy at the centre. I didn't even realize it kinda fits alongside Fall Leo until a moot pointed it out!

2. some pieces I wish more people had seen- some of my WROC posts, which you can find here -> (Risetober 16, WROC Mikey, Sun in the Apocalypse)

two of these feature my oc Jax, who ends up being a vital part of the resistance. I put a lot of effort into these works that I wish more people saw, and the other is a doodle dump of wroc Mikey, whose design fought me every step of the way.

3. top three pieces would be Warriors Heart by Peanutrat20, the entire Cass apocalypse series that I binge read in a day, and the commision Shardknight did for me -> (Warriors Heart by peanutrat20, Cass Apoc. Series by somerandomedudelmao, Jax and Leo by shardknight)

Warriors Heart I'm super excited about cuz I know all the secrets and I've read all of my beloved moots pre-story stuff, and I can't wait for the full story to come together!

Cass Apocalypse Series along with a few others really inspired me to start a comic for my own apocalypse series, I'm still figuring things out as I go but I love to look back at their work, their style, everything. It's incredibly inspiring, their characters are wonderful.

WROC Jax and Leo I commissioned, and Soph delivered. They're adorable, and I love looking back at it. Their art means everything to me, its so squishy, and to see my sillies in it had me kicking my feet in excitement lmao.

when you can see an artist's style change because they love a series/character/etc. so much. isn't it amazing to witness someone love a thing so much that it changes the way they create? 😭 sometimes it's really subtle, like changing the way they draw eyes or changing up their colour palette...and then other times it's a total transformation!! it's just awesome to see that inspiration happening in real time 🔥

when you find a person who has filled up an entire tag creating all kinds of fanworks for their beloved obscure or 'dead' fandom or character. fandoms are so powered by neurodivergency, and i love scrolling through a tag and seeing the same name pop up over and over, who were so overcome with love and interest and theories for their favourite thing they just couldn't hold it back!! 🙈💖 passion is something which should always be celebrated, right?

when people wear reminders of their favourite characters!! clothes, jewellery, even keeping a little plush with them at all times...it's precious, and such a great thing for your mental health 🥰 i'm definitely guilty of doing things like painting my nails in colours inspired by my favourite character's colour schemes, and it's an awesome mood-booster;;;

Okay in my mind this seems like it's probably expected, but I promise I was thinking of a lot of other characters and it just didn't seem right

I think it's the grunge aesthetic and looking like all you drink is coffee and whiskey for the most part

Mostly because he's basically the same way

He's also pretty obviously a standoffish person, and I definitely think that's what would make him want to get to know you more, and once he did... wow

Like you, he's an extroverted introvert

He can be quite as well, but once you get him going he's the life of the party and I definitely think you'd both bring some.. we'll say fun, to the Wayne Charity Galas that Bruce hosts

Not only that, but you both like basically the same kinds of music as well, and I can see you both jamming in his apartment together

You also mentioned that you do art, and while I definitely don't think Jason can draw, he absolutely would adore watching you do it

I mean, this man had straight A's before he died and he's definitely a huge nerd for literature and the arts

He definitely plays piano sometimes too when you'd draw

He's also an avid reader, and would always want to suggest books to you and take your suggestions on books to read

Likewise, he'd also offer to read whatever you were writing too

Not just to be nice, but because he's very curious to see what you're even putting on the page

He definitely plays games with you all the time, and on any co-op games he always makes it a challenge

He has to win, even if there's no winner in that game

In instances where you both just want to chill out, he'd offer a picnic in the park

Probably not Gotham's though

If anything he'd take you through the Zeta Tube to Central City, or Metropolis, where it's much nicer and sunnier than Gotham City

There you both can people watch from under a tree, and enjoy the nature and calm

I imagine Jason is an amazing cook and baker

It's one of my favorite headcanons to be honest

So he definitely made some Alfred-level sandwiches for you both, and he made your favorite dessert

Lots of veggies and fruits on the side as well, and your favorite drinks

Probably also gives you your favorite flowers as well, just to be the cheesy romantic that he is

Lastly, you mention that you hate clingy people

Jason can definitely be clingy, but he also 100% knows your boundaries and respects them

If you want to cuddle and be close, he's all up for that

When you want your space, he respects it and doesn't push it either

Same with him being loud

He won't be around you, but with his family it's kind of a given - lots of yelling, goofing off, throwing things at one another most likely

But he doesn't get you involved in it all since he knows you don't like loud people

All in all, Jason would absolutely adore you and you both would get along really well imo

✧ what pieces of fiction inspired you to start writing?

A lot of fantasy and adventure novels! I used to read those genres obsessively when I was little. The first story I ever wrote was an adventure plot for a school assignment. It was 17 pages and even illustrated by yours truly lol. The page limit was 1-2, but eight-year-old Meraki couldn't tell a story in such short page length! I remember I used a piano bench as my table and I didn't stop writing and drawing until I was finished. I would snack on cucumber slices during the process. Even though it's such a random memory, I cherish it dearly because it was the first time I realized I was genuinely passionate about storytelling.

Anime/manga was also another big inspiration! In my early teenage years, I loved shows like Assassination Classroom, Black Butler, Watamote, Owari no Seraph, Pandora Hearts, Danganronpa, HETALIA. Omg,,,, what an era that was.........

Reading yan oc stories also inspired me to write yandere fics!! Before writing yan fandom, I wrote a lot of yandere ocs. They are my most beloveds. I adore my ocs. ( ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ഒ

✧ do you have any favorite novels?

I do! I love the Red Eye series. It's a collection of various horror novels. I read them a lot in my early teenage years. They're all wonderfully written. So much atmosphere in each one! I really enjoy YA literature, especially YA horror. There are plenty of other novels (lots of horror classics), but I can't seem to recall all of them at the moment. ;;;; orz too many to keep up with...

The tl dr of all this is really just because I like to draw a lot XD I love to draw, so I wanted to get better at it, and I just kept going at it. I think that’s a pretty good summary of me being a self taught artist. 

More details under the cut because as usual I can’t shut up enough XD also posting this cos I haven’t had the energy to get to replies yet oops

1. Find a thing you really like and draw it for the next uhhhhh 3 years or so of your life. Rinse and repeat. (I hopped from OCs to Undertale and now to IDV over the span of like. idk a decade or so, so whatever that catches your fancy, really. You have to enjoy it, first and foremost XD)

2. Study basic theory, like very basic (as much as you’re willing to learn, or as much as it helps make your stuff look better). Anatomy, composition, colours, maybe even a bit of perspective, depends on what you want to focus on (eg. if you want to draw characters, focus on anatomy. Items and background? Composition and perspective will help greatly).

This is a step that I know most of us hate, because we're lazy like that, but after a while you can only get so far without knowing basic anatomy and the like. There are tons of tutorials floating around, especially on tumblr, so dig up those that you want to learn and spend some time on them. Look at the different tutorials on the same topic and have a look at the different ways of approaching them. Pick the one you like the most/ works the best, stick with it and have fun XD

Also I feel like this step helps whenever you’re feeling incredibly frustrated with your own art. It happens a lot, it happens to me, and usually what fixes that is really figuring out what can be improved. Feeling unsatisfied with your art means you’re ready to improve, but most of the time you don’t know how to, so doing a bit of studying might help, especially in areas you know you need help in.

Again, you don't have to do all of them, just the ones you're interested in/ currently struggling with. I’m just a little hobby artist, I prefer to do things at my own pace, and more importantly I have to like what I do.

I only had the chance to go to a couple of formal classes in university, but I knew that if I had taken these classes any earlier, I would have hated them, and I don't think I would have learnt as much as I have. That's mostly because I used to be lazy and didn't see the need for formal art theory, but now I know I should have a little bit if I want my art to be looking better, so now I’m interested in all the boring stuff. Especially since this is more out of interest than anything, I don't want to do anything to kill it.

3. Study other ppl's art, especially from artists you adore. This is the next best alternative to studying actual theory since it's less technical, but it's more experimental (cos what works for others doesn’t always work for you). Personally I learnt a lot from doing this on my own. Figure out what you like about you favourite artist's art (is it the way they draw a particular part of the body? Backgrounds? Colours, lineart?), and copy it. Like really just try to imitate it to the best of your ability, you will learn what works and what doesn't work for you when you slowly try it out. Steal it, it’s yours now. As long as you don't trace it and post it as your own, you should be fine. 

I should also mention that whenever you see art that you really like, it's easy to feel jealous and inferior. But I think instead of that, you should take the opportunity to learn from them to do something about your own skills. It's okay to feel like that, because everyone does at one point, but it's really whether you want to do anything about it that can help you, or at least that's what I believe XD

Eg. I found an artist that drew hands very very well, so I took some time to copy the way they drew hands for a bit and started incorporating that into my drawing (specifically the way they tend to angle fingers). Another example is that I saw an artist adding insane eyebags to their characters and I decided I wanted that too. So here we are with my signature eyebagsop XD

I haven't found the time to do a painting study yet, so my colours and paintings aren't as nice as I'd like them to be XD

4. Use references when you're unsure. Drawing is difficult, and no one will know if you've cheated to make things easy for yourself (unless it's a trace, which at that point it can hardly count as reference), so just go ahead and use it. I go to the mirror to check angles and positions sometimes, and I use my own hands as references a lot more than you think. (my tip for using hands as a reference: knowing where the thumb is helps a lot)

5. Fuck around and find out. There’s no one fixed rule for drawing, so if you so happen to make your own and you like it and it works, just go for it man. I have some techniques come about very accidentally, like that one time I found out one particular brand of ink wasn’t waterproof, so I ended up using it as watercolour instead. Others times it’s just finding the best way to do things in your style, like how I prevent myself from drawing on the wrong layer by bringing the opacity of my sketch layer down real low, so it’s obvious when I’m drawing on the wrong layer.

Fucking around also means trying new things when your art feels a bit boring XD change up some brushes (for me I gradually started to use thinner brushes for my art XD), try out some tools on your program, switch art styles. Or maybe try something else entirely, like making gifs/ animations, or even comics (winks). If you manage to find something you like, great! If not, at least you’ve tried it, and you know what you don’t like, which is actually just as important as knowing what you like to do uwu

6. Keep going. The art you're seeing now is the result of uhhhhhhhh more than a decades worth of drawing. Every single drawing is valuable exp that helps you level up. The shitty doodles during boring classes, the badly drawn other eye, even the hands hidden behind backs. I promise all these will help, even if it doesn't feel like it, so keep drawing. 

If you prefer to burn your old works because of how bad they are, I’m not gonna stop you because I totally understand the second hand embarrassment, but personally I’d like to keep them as a record of the progress you’ve made. It’s a very nice feeling seeing how far you’ve come.

There was a period of time I stopped drawing for like a year because I had close to 0 inspiration, but I don't regret that at all. Because I'm here now, enjoying myself as much as I used to, and I think it's worth it. So if there's a period you just can't draw, don't stress yourself too much over it, I’m sure you will eventually find the strength and passion to draw again sometime in the future.

One direction 100%. Ive been loving them since I was like 10 years old. Also just late 2000s songs in general bring back a lot of memories for me.

Psychology! I’m super interested in that subject and I want to study it when I go to university so usually I go for subjects in that direction.

Comforting? Hmm.... tangled and brave are some movies that I adore. I remember watching tangled in the cinema when it was super new and loving every second of it, and I also adored Merida I’m brave. And sometimes cute romance movies are comforting too in a way ^^

📽 what movie/TV show did you watch recently that you would recommend to someone?

I finished fairy tail recently and woah, the ending really had me in tears. I don’t know if I’d necessarily recommend it since it has 329 episodes lol but if you ever feel like it go ahead 😂

Right now I’m watching re:zero which I think is such a cool anime too and definitely worth watching. It has 26 episodes I think and I love the characters.

🕯 do you have any self care activities you do routinely?

I try to do a face mask every week so I guess that’s self care in a way? Also, I’ve decided to just let myself be lazy in the mornings and be productive in the afternoon with all of this quarantine stuff because that way I can do things but still get some rest.

🦜what would your dream pet be if you had unlimited time, money, resources, etc.? (it could be exotic or extinct)

I’ll just be simple: I’d love to have a dog 🥺🥺 but the problem is that both my parents work, my school days are pretty long and the earliest time my brother gets home is about 3pm so they would be really lonely. But if I really could have the time to treat the doggo well I’d get a dog, specifically a Maltese

Well, September 2021 I’ll be going to university and I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t wait to really study something I’m interested in and just experience adulthood more. The university I want to go to is about an hour away by train and I’ve never travelled that far on my own (I’ve been on school trips abroad but it’s different) so yeaaaa really excited about that hehe ^^

Well, @viikirks, we think you’re the cat’s pyjamas for this ask! Even if it pains us all to narrow down our recommendations.

@firesign23:  For a multichapter fic, my first thought as @edeainfj‘s The Fixed Foot (2016) despite the fact it’s not a particularly long multichapter fic. I adore all of her fics–she’s one of those “Drop everything to read immediately” authors for me–and I could fill a post with just recs of her fics, but The Fixed Foot is definitely amongst my favourites. It explores the challenges and negotiations Phryne and Jack would find in an open relationship while keeping that underlying respect and love between them at the forefront. It’s challenging and beautiful and I adore it. As a bonus, the comments on the fic add a whole other dimension of discussion to it.

And after naming a short multichapter, I thought it might be nice to give a shoutout to a longer oneshot. Sing a Song of Sixpence (2016) was written for Yuletide 2016, which is one of the largest and longest running cross-fandom fic exchanges (it began in 2003!). 2016 was the last year MFMM qualified for their “small fandom” criteria. What’s interesting here is that we do not have an author to credit, as the writer made use of AO3′s orphaning option. Set three weeks after the events of 3x08, Phryne has returned to Melbourne and is immediately called in to investigate the murder of Rex Morgan, one of Melbourne’s best accountants and loathed by many; the resulting investigation uncovers long-held family secrets, more deaths, and just the right amount of flirting.

@kanste:  We are lucky to have such a lovely collection of fics – sad ones, funny ones, romantic ones and sexy ones – you name it and we probably have it.  Like @whopooh I have had a very hard time to choose just one of each, unlike her I couldn’t make it. So I decided to give you two of each. 

For my one shot I give you a funny one and a sad one. Counterfactual  (2015) by @promisesarepiecrust is the fic I always choose when I’m in need of a little heartbreak or a good cry.  It deals with the aftermath of a one-night stand. There is one specific picture PromisesArePieCrust has created, that will forever stay with me.  Whump, whump (2014) by @aljwritesphryne​ is the one fic that always cheers me up. It has Dottie, a flustered Hugh and a hint of Phrack.

My first multi chapter fic is on the shorter side with only four chapters but it has so much going on: beautiful clothes, Phrack having a sexy dinner and dessert. A More Lethal Dress (2016) by @omgimsarahtoo​. My second one is a Modern AU story that is the beginning of the YACI universe. You Are Cordially Invited….. (2015) by @aljwritesphryne​. Jack is a detective, Phryne a private eye with a huge social media following, throw in a royal wedding and you have a good read. 

@olderbynow: First off, if there are no specific rules laid out, there’s no cheating. I just want to put that out there. And then I want to show you something amazing. It’s this multichapter fic by RakishAngle: Messengers and Forfeits (2015), which is ten chapters of delicious Phrack written in that kind of style that I want to be when I grow up. It is wonderful, okay. It’s also a sequel, and you obviously have to read the first one as well. (See what I did there, Chidi @whopooh? I didn’t have to choose. Muahahaha.)

As my standalone fic I just have to push And I Do Lift My Aching Arms to You (2017) by @gaslightgallows. It’s got fake-out make-out, Archie, a Gilbert & Sullivan reference, smut that manages to be both hot and hilarious, which is an A++ smut combo. And it has one of my favourite lines written in a fic ever. If when you read the fic, I’m 100% sure you’ll be able to guess which one.

@ollyjayonline: As I lack the concentration to read a long fic my multi-chapter is a bit on the short side but size, as we know, is no guide to quality and at just over 10,000 words and a mere two chapters @ladyroxie‘s Delight Out of Loosened Soil (2016) is one of my favourites. (And because my ability to follow rules rivals my ability to concentrate I’m also going to mention @olderbynow‘s Tales of a Wayside Romance 1930 (2017) which remains the best fic I’ve never read.) For my one shot I love the passionate abandon of Saudade (2017) by @kidnthehall.

@solitarycyclistadventures: Ooh, this is a hard question. How can I choose?! There are so many writers worth checking out!! Here are some fics that come to mind first: The Fixed Foot – which has already been recommended by Firesign so doesn’t count. @promisesarepiecrust’s Phracking Fridays – a multi-chapter with very short but very sweet chapters. Some of them just knock me out. For one shot, read @ollyjayonline’s The Hunt – I want to recommend all of ollyjayonline’s fics, and this is her first one shot, although I suppose I’m cheating because it’s part of a multi-chapter story. :D Bonus multi-chapter fic: @flashofthefuse‘s modern AU, Still Holding My Heart.

@whopooh: I know wejoke about this a lot, but that is because it’s true – I am the Chidi in thisgroup, and asking me to choose just one thing is a little bit like sending meto the so called Good Place to torture me. I struggle with this, BUT – I’ll justdive in and give you two fics I have come back to several times and that hasmeant a lot to me!

My multi-chapter one is a fic that draws me into it and teases me because it doesn’t give away much of the characters’ inner emotions. This is @promisesarepiecrust’s A whole world in here (8 chapters, 2016). It is written like a play, which means we get the lines and a few stage directions, but basically we are left to our own devices about their inner turmoil, and for me, that becomes really intense. It also forces me to read slowly. The fic is focused on Phryne’s and Jack’s relationship and things that threaten to hinder it, and it has some lovely Mac and also an OC I really appreciate. Interestingly, since the form is so special, the resolution – all that pent up desire and frustration going off in a bang – is told in a prose form.

For a one-shot, I’ll say @jeneenp/Collingwoodgirl’s The Night Within Us (2016) which is so concentratedly sensual in its way of using one of theclassic tropes, to be locked into a small place together, and the heat in this is to me scorching. Also, since @ollyjayonline openedthe floodgate to give a bonus rec, I will do that too, and say that another ofmy favourite locked-in-together is Lefaym, Locked rooms (2014) and its delicious humour.

i agree, i absolutely love the wonderful OCs everyone has come up with, they're so inventive 😖 i'm gonna pop this under a read more as i rambled a little - putting waaay too much thought into OCs is a favourite thing to do 😂

oooh, those are some great questions!! i really love making OCs for my favourite characters, and i adore trying to come up with characters who gel well with the canon of that character's universe. for Cynthie, i knew immediately i wanted a writer character, because who better to pair with our beloved puppet artist? 🥴 almost all of my OCs made for shipping purposes have a little bit of me in them, and given how much i've written for Wally, it only felt right to make a fun writer for him :3c

the name actually had a lot of thought put into it 😂 like all of the Welcome Home characters (not counting Home), i gave Cynthie a first and second name, with the first name being a more general, regular name and the surname being applicable to who they are. Wally's a Darling, Poppy's a Patridge, Sally's a Starlet...you get the idea 😉

as for the rest of Cynthie's design, i went through a few different iterations until i settled on something that fit! i already made a Muppets character before (Sagan, who I ship with Dr Bunsen Honeydew 😳) and i didn't want to repeat the colour scheme despite them being very colourful indeed! i usually draw my self-insert self as having green hair, so i used that and went for red skin in line with the kinds of colours that other Welcome Home and Muppets characters have - replicating the contrast Wally has between his yellow skin and blue hair 😉

something i'm interested in is the rhythm of names; about half of the Welcome Home characters have names with two syllables per name (How-dy Pill-ar, Ju-lie Joy-ful, etc.) and the other half have names with one syllable and then two, or vice versa (Frank Frank-ly, Edd-ie Dear, etc.). so when naming Cynthie, i knew i needed a name which fit into one of those rhythms, or it would stick out like a sore thumb! i'd been toying with naming a character Cynthia for quite some time, but that wasn't sitting right...and then it hit me! as far as we know, Wally isn't short for anything, but lots of the Welcome Home characters have names that end with the 'ee' sound (Wally, Julie, Eddie, etc.)...hence, Cynthie Scribe was born! 🔥💖

for the clothes, where Wally is deeply stylish, i wanted Cynthie to have something more haphazard and whimsical - dungarees seemed like a great, practical choice!! those little circles over the straps are actually stickers, which they love to give out to their friends 🥰

now at this point, i felt that Cynthie's design was lacking a little something: i wanted to keep the cute, cropped-and-curvy hair, but felt they needed another distinctive feature. then it hit me - someone like Cynthie likely keeps pens in their hair, always handy to write with!! i finished the design by completing the rainbow and adding the yellows and blues to their outfit, as well as a little heart nose to show off their romantic side :3c
