How to find new goth music that you'll love : a silly tutorial for people wanting to find new dark songs to obsess about.
Okay so following my last post, I'm going to do a tiny tutorial on how I find new goth/post-punk/darkwave/etc music and bands with only two tools : Internet and a bit of free time. I can guarantee it's worth it, especially if you want to invest yourself more into the subculture. Supporting new and active bands is a must if you want to see the goth genre flourish.
(Sorry in advance, most the screenshots will be in french. And if there's typos, my bad. I did my best but english is not my native language!)
the "Similar Artists" feature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probably one of the easiest way to find bands similar to the one you already like is using a website that will give you similar artists. This feature is a common one on listening plateforms like Spotify (left) or Last.fm (right). I tend to prefer the Last.fm one because you can see what genres the artists are tagged with. This gives you way more informations about the band, its influences and why it's in the similar artist section in the first place. You can also click on these tags to find other bands or, even better, repeat the process with the newer bands you find to delve deeper down the rabbit hole!
Both these exemples are "similar bands" found on the Boy Harsher page.
2. Playlists and sets
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one sounds obvious but it's one of the most efficient method to find new music without putting too much work into it. The only thing you have to keep in mind is to be precise with your keywords. For exemple, if you want to find new goth music but don't like EBM, you'll have to type your research with keywords like "gothrock", "deathrock" or "synthpop" "darkwave", etc....
Personally, there is two plateforms that I use fairly often for this purpose but I'm pretty sure it exists on every listening plateforms, so feel free to use the one you prefer. For me, it's Youtube and Spotify. I tend to prefer Youtube because it's more like a DJ set, with someone picking a limited amount of songs and new releases and sharing them like every few months. There are several accounts that do this, you just have to keep an eye out for them.
The images featured are the first playlists that pop up when I type "goth 2024" and "post-punk 2024" in the mentionned plateforms.
Keep in mind that you won't like everything and that you can skip the songs until you find one that makes you bop your head dracula style.
3. Music labels and samplers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We're entering a more niche category with this one. So, you really like a band and want to find something similar or, at least, something with the same qualities (be it the level of production, the subgenres explored, etc). Well, labels can help you! A music label is a production or publishing company that usually have several bands to manage. Some bands, of course, do everything by themselves but for the others, it's a GREAT way to find new similar music.
You can find the labels by looking at a band's website, social media or, even more efficiently, by looking at the records themselves. Usually, the label name/logo is somewhere on the cover. When you find it, you can simply type the name of the label and find the artists that are associated with it.
A lot of labels have a strong presence on Bandcamp and do "samplers". These are basically playlists featuring the artists they publish. If you don't want to click on every artists one at a time, you can simply listen to a sampler and see if anything is interesting you before going further.
The images I have used are both labels that are producing goth, darkwave and ebm music. The first one is Artoffact records (ACTORS, Cevin Key's solo work, etc...) and the second is AVANT! records (Buzz Kull, Blind Seagull, etc...)
4. Touring bands and opening acts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GREAT! One of your favourite band is touring. Maybe it's a big band, a classic goth staple, or maybe it's a tinier band you already enjoy. Either way, it will probably have an opening act, maybe several depending on the dates. When I see a band I like announcing gigs, I usually check the other bands that are following them in the tour. They can be less famous or they can even be local bands sometimes. No matter if you can attend the event or not, this is a good way to stay in touch with the scene and what's being played in venues. You can also just check the scheduled dates in goth or post-punk venues, nearby or far away.
The big plus of doing this is seeing the amazing art some tour posters feature (illustraded here by Buzzkull/Kontravoid and Rue Oberkampf). If you follow bands or venues on Instagram (and other social media where bands actually post), they are seen fairly often in tour and dates announcements. You can also check tour dates on several websites like Songkick, Bandsintown, etc.... I always prefer following the bands and venues themselves, though.
5. Webzines (and other internet tools) We're going even more niche with webzines, something that will probably disappear in a couple of years but that thankfully still exist nowadays. Basically, a webzine is just like a magazine/fanzine but online. By looking up the right keywords, or even looking at webzines focused on alternative music in your area, you might find a great ressource not only to find new music but also to find gigs and events related to the subculture. I'd advise everyone to broaden their horizons when looking for webzines : as an exemple, the one i use fairly often to find gigs in my area is not only goth related. it's more of an underground culture thing which leads me to find non-goth events that I could enjoy too!
Of course, Webzines are only a little part of the iceberg. I am sure there are plenty of facebook groups, blogs, forums and newsletter that basically lead you to find the same kind of informations. On this side, you have to be ressourceful depending on where you live, what is the culture around you and also how safe it is for you to navigate in these spaces.
6. Word-to-Mouth, mutuals, etc... At last, we are lucky enough to be on a website that allows everyone to share links like Spotify, Bandcamp and so on. There are several accounts dedicated to share goth music. For exemple, there is @nugothrhythms who share modern and newer goth sounds or the more recent @gothlisteningclub which is a great way to discover and listen to goth albums you've never heard of. I won't plug my own sideblog but you know, do your research, find mutuals that actually put a bit of work into sharing music! And, of course, feel free to do the same! I hope this little tutorial can help some people to find new music. The internet is a fabulous tool to keep subcultures alive. If you put a little work into it, you'll soon discover great bands and maybe even find a few gigs to attend. Remember, stay curious, don't limit yourself and always expend your horizons with art! Feel free to add anything that can help people finding new goth or post-punk music : blogs, playlists, etc!

WHAT WAS THAT THING YOU EXPLAINED TO ME AGES AGO FOR WAITING ROOM ABOUT HOW TO LISTEN TO SONGS THAT ARENT ON SPOTIFY ??? I NEED RED FLANNEL GEORGIA AND I NEED IT NOW
AKAJDFJSKFKS OK THIS IS MY FAVORITE SPOTIFY FEATURE YAY!! relying on people to have uploaded things as a podcast sucks so bad because they get taken down a lot and also it breaks up the vibe because the title and artist are always something random and the little picture is just a sunset or whatever idk IT BREAKS UP THE VIBE
so you can do this from any device, (i prefer to do it from my computer though for reasons that'll be explained later) and if you have spotify premium you'll also be able to listen to it on all devices, but first thing you're going to do is go into your account settings and turn on the local files option
Tumblr media
once you do that, it'll access any downloaded audio files you have, and you can listen to them on that device. they'll be stored in a spotify playlist named local files, similar to the liked songs one. (i would also recommend making a separate folder for the songs you want downloaded on spotify, at least on the computer, i know you can change which folder it takes from there. otherwise you might end up with random audio you downloaded for something specific in your spotify library.)
if you have premium, you can also turn on spotify on other devices, and add the song you downloaded to an actual playlist
Tumblr media
and it'll sync up on all your devices and you can download the playlist on every device. if you don't have premium though you'll either have to download it on every device or you can only listen to it on the first one you downloaded it on.
now for actually getting the song. this is really simple I tend to go straight to youtube and it's usually pretty easy to find the song I want, and then I just put the link into a youtube to mp3 converter (dodging the hot moms in my area. maybe next time ladies) and then I download it. make sure it's in the right folder and boom! I now have mitski's cover of let's get married to cry to on demand! soundcloud also works though obviously because any audio file will do, and a lot of unreleased songs get uploaded to soundcloud, and there’s a handy little download button right there and you don't need an account! great if you run into a song that isn't on youtube. totally unrelated but I have phoebe bridger's cover of iris downloaded
now. reasons I tend to do it from my computer specifically.
1. most shady websites are just easier to navigate lol. it's twice as hard to deal with pop ups when things are also rotating your phone screen around. so yeah i'd prefer to hit up the mp3 converter from my laptop
2. if you have any songs where the only video for it has an annoying intro or outro, it can be easier to edit it out. like lil nas x's cover of jolene was from the youtube channel for some fucking radio station or whatever so I had to edit that out. and my laptop's native audio file player has a trimming option, so I didn't have to download extra software like I would on my phone
3. and most importantly to me, you can make it aesthetically pleasing. when you just download the audio file it won't have an album picture and it won't have an artist name it'll only have whatever the file name is as a title, which you can change obviously but it doesn't fix the rest of it. on the computer it is so easy to download a metadata editor, and you can edit the file's metadata however you want and it'll have the little artist line and the album if you want and you can put whatever picture goes with the song but this is of course not required it just matters a lot to me personally
anyway have fun!

spotify's algorithm is turning music tastes into homogeneous goop, here are some other ways to find new music. if you're looking for something totally anti-spotify it's not this, but there are non-spotify options too
use google to find playlists on spotify that contain at least two artists or songs you like. works best if the songs are not that common but you have to try out a few things ex google search- "cherushii + sally shapiro playlist site:open.spotify.com" this will return links to spotify playlists containing songs from both artists, . not all results are relevant but a lot should be
4chan's music board. don't go to /mu/ outright, no one sane wants to do that. go to the archive and search "sharethread" / "favorite" / "recommendations" / "underrated" etc. my favorite method is to search 4x4 (a term for graphs of album covers of weekly last.fm stats) and browse the last.fm threads since it's really easy to look at the graph of 16 album covers and see whether that poster's taste aligns with yours at all
link your music player to last.fm. last.fm matches you with users with similar tastes, and has a homepage with decent recommendations for artists/tracks. you can also compare your music taste with any other users and see your areas of overlap
look up interviews from your favorite artists. not just musicians but writers and visual artists too. interviewers love to ask about listening habits. i've found some of my fav stuff this way
make a separate youtube account solely for music. get high and click around. youtube has a higher concentration of music nerds than other streaming services, and a lot of people uploading underappreciated or forgotten music. great way to find actual albums instead of singles
check your fav artists' spotify profile, many make public playlists
chatgpt. I've had best results prompting it for recommendations based on a groups of artists/albums that maybe have some similarities, but are not in the same genre/cone of interest, otherwise it will just give spotify tier recommendations. if you try to make it find something similar to albums/artists that span decades or genres, it will get more creative. I've gotten some really good recommendations this way

What’s your beef with Spotify?
It's less beef and more just a product I don't like - because that's what Spotify is, a product. They really don't want you to think of it that way, but at the end of the day it's particularly invasive product packaging around the thing you actually want to listen to, and there are dozens of different ways to listen to music. As far as gripes, though, number 1 is that it doesn't really pay its artists for shit and its objectively kind of shitty audio-quality wise (I'm not a snob on this, but depending on your hardware it can be especially crunchy while other things like Youtube sound just fine). Number 2 is how much it spies on you and tracks your data. Number 3 is the ads. Number 4, and the actual reason I will never use it, is that it's the enshittification of media consumption.
I do, actually, have a Spotify account. I used it for all of a day before never logging in again or verifying my email. Spotify forces you to experience music the way it wants you to, with absolutely no benefit aside from cloud syncing cross-platform for your playlists that I don't actually need, and I'm used to the freedom from the dawn of the accessible mp3 era.
Tumblr media
Better Kind Of Best Friend is a single. I bought it as part of the entire The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn't album, so it came with the album artwork. I wanted it to have its single artwork - so I changed it. And now, in MusicBee and on my phone, I see the single artwork because it's in the file metadata. Spotify doesn't give you that option. It's a little thing, maybe, except when it isn't, like when a song's cover art is graphic or otherwise upsetting to look at, or just plain doesn't fit it.
Sometimes I don't agree with a song's "official" genre (usually because the entire album classifies the songs one way while they actually span genres). The range of things that are classified as indie rock is insane. Anyway, other times I use the genre more specifically, such as "Dark Pop", which isn't actually a thing but if I played you Dark Pop songs you would understand what I mean. In MusicBee, I can change genres to be whatever I want, which is important for various auto-playlists in filtering.
I also have a custom tag for any sapphic songs that automatically populates my lesbian love auto-playlist as they're defined, and another playlist that automatically adds all music from my custom-defined list of queer artists to the "Gay Life" playlist. When I buy a new Reinaeiry song, it automatically gets added without me having to do anything.
I can't listen to demos or any music that Spotify has lost licensing to on it, which means that if I want a complete playlist with a demo song on it, I have to have all those songs exported anyway, and at that point why am I bothering to split my listening across platforms? Idk if you heard, but Spotify lost licensing to a giant catalogue of Kpop music at one point because one company pulled out, and all those listeners were fucked. I don't have to wait for an artist to upload their shit to Spotify (although right now I am waiting for Reinaeiry to put Too Sweet up for download - pls queen - this is luckily more rare of an occurrence than me seeing "please add this to Spotify" comments is).
I like music I can keep forever, listen to whenever, and do so without ads or paying three figures a year to hear uninterrupted. I'd rather buy one album a month with the Spotify premium money than pay for it. I like creating folder after subfolder worth of an unlimited number of playlists (admittedly idr if Spotify allows this feature. It varies by online listening platforms and I don't bother to track the ones I don't use). I like being able to drag and drop my playlists from MusicBee into iTunes to instantly listen to them on my phone (and thus cross-play isn't a concern for me as long as I remember to synch my phone). I like the feature of being able to instantly and permanently adjust the volume, as well as the beginning and end point, of any single song I chose (super helpful for when certain albums are inexplicably quieter/louder than others or have a stupid incongruous music or dialogue part in them).
Tumblr media
If I want to listen to something without actually getting it, then I do it on Youtube, which has a wider music selection with more control. Don't like album art? Find a lyric video upload with a generic nebula background. Weird movie sample at the beginning? Someone might have cut that out in their upload (shoutout to the person who turned DICTATOR into a part 1 and 2 to match the two different mood halves), but otherwise Sponsorblock will skip the non-music segments. The only downside of Youtube versus Spotify is I can't share the playlists without exposing my name, but again I actually create those playlists in MusicBee 99% of the time so I wouldn't be sharing a link anyway.

Hey! Slightly different post here, but i feel the need to say something important.
Lovejoy used to be my favourite band, i have been in their top 0.1% of listeners for the past two years. That being said, the frontman is an abusive asstwat.
So, friendly reminder, Spotify(not sure about other music apps) has a feature where you can access audio files from your device through a playlist usually titled 'local files'. If you download videos, or screen record them from youtube and convert them to mp3, they'll show up there. No revenue goes to artists if you listen to their music from a download in your local files, and you can add tracks from your local files into playlists.
if you want to go a step further, you can download the unofficial lyric videos from other youtube accounts, then convert those to mp3 instead of the official one.
You can do this with individual songs, or entire albums. If you have a cd or cassette already, no revenue goes to the artist per listen, so if you like the music just hold onto it imo, and you can usually rip the music from the cd or cassette onto others, or onto a laptop.
The same thing goes in reverse, if there's another album you really like, you can download the mp3 as before, and put it on a blank cd or cassette and decorate the case yourself!
I don't think I can let go of Lovejoy easily, so this is what I'll be doing, and I have such a strong attachment to ycgma and msr that I couldn't give it up. Instead, download and listen to unofficial versions so you can enjoy music without supporting an abusive person who is believed to still be dangerous :D
If Lovejoy comes out with new music, I'm unsure what I'll do then, but the same practice still applies, download from unofficial accounts and listen separately!!! I would fully support joe, mark and ash if they decided that once the tour is over they want to split lovejoy up, though unfortunately i don't think they will, given they have probably witnessed the abuse before and not done anything :/
All this to say, even if the members of your favourite band are shitheads, you can listen to their music if you go through the right processes! Just don't allow for profit to be made <3

1 Billion4Thriller and The Thriller 40 Challenge 2!
1Billion4Thriller
If you have been on Twitter or Instagram during Sept and October, y'all know it's that time of year again! It's time to celebrate Michael Jackson's epic accomplishments with the best-selling album of all time—Thriller! And I don't care what anyone says, Thriller is the official Halloween song!
Okay, so as you all know by now, and if ya don't, you will soon, lol! The MJ Fam is attempting to get Michael Jackson's amazing short film, Thriller, to 1 Billion views! So, Please stream the short film on YouTube as much as you can, but please watch other videos in between so you're not exhibiting bot behavior and for your views to count. However, to make things easier, you can also watch the following playlist on the flyer below! Just scan the QR code, and you are taken to the pre-made playlist!
Tumblr media
The Thriller Challenge 2 (Starts this Friday, October 20th, 2023)
Tumblr media
With the monumental success of Michael Jackson’s Album, “Thriller,” being the best-selling album of all time, the actual single, Thriller, has never reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart—and it’s by far that has changed! With the “Thriller Challenge 2,” MJ Fans the world over plan to get Michael Jackson’s single, Thriller, to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart! We attempted this last year (albeit Thriller placed decently), but it didn't make it to #1, which is why we need more fans to participate! We can do this! So, please Stream and buy the single Thriller (only the song and not the album) as much as you can. Please only buy and stream the official album version of the song, which is on the original 1982 release of Thriller, Thriller 40, and Thriller 25—this is very important as all other versions do not count towards the Billboard for our goal!
While streaming Thriller, please do not loop the song—play 2 to 3 different songs by the J5, The Jackson’s, 3T, or other artists of your liking so that the streams are counted properly. And make sure the volume on your app is turned up. We understand listening to Thriller (though we love the song) a million times might be challenging; you can, therefore, turn your device volume down or mute it—but not on your app. Please keep the volume on the app itself turned up! This goes for when streaming on YouTube as well. For more tips on how to properly stream, please check out the following video:
youtube
P.S. Here is a pre-made #ThrillerChallenge playlist of mine that you can stream to make things easier! This is one of the playlists I created and used when I hosted one of last year's many streaming parties hosted by myself and many other wonderful DJs. (P.S. I still like—and am a Mystery DJ, but I like sharing with y'all here! Lol!) https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2HNr81pCxDGEcD4mUi7yeO?si=a81f5cd5ab184df5
Lastly, please participate in some of the Thriller Streaming Parties on the StationHead App if you can (there'll be many)! It's a great way to jam out to MJ, Janet, and the Jackson Families' music while chatting with fellow MJ Fam if you would like! However, You do not have to chat! Just come in and listen to the music. The reason why these streaming parties are so important is because for every listener a DJ has for the party, it counts as a stream for Thriller! So, say if a DJ has 100 listeners, then that's 100 streams for Thriller! It's that easy—and the guesswork has been taken out of creating a playlist. All ya gotta do is sit back and listen to the music. In order to hear the music and the DJs on StationHead, you must have a premium Spotify or Apple Music account! If you don't have one, please search the internet. There are always free trials floating around (just make sure they are legit). When the challenge is over, you can always cancel your membership if you no longer want the service.
For a complete listing of all the Thriller Streaming parties, please follow @AndJustice4Some on the X app (formerly known as Twitter.)
On Saturday, October 21st, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:55 p.m., I'll be hosting a Thriller Streaming party on the StationHead App! Please attend if you can! It's such an honor to get the chance to host a streaming party for the Thriller Challenge.
Tumblr media
Please note: The #1Billion4Thriller and #TheThrillerChallenge2 events are not created by me. I'm just doing my due diligence as an MJ Fam and as one of the DJs for the Thriller Challenge, helping to get the information out!
In closing, today, the artist Drake has officially tied Michael Jackson as the male solo artist with the most No. 1 songs in Billboard Hot 100 History. Now, I'm not here to diss Drake, but let us be for real: the music that's being made today is not classic like many of MJ's and other legendary artists hit records. When Michael was selling millions of albums, there was no streaming; people had to actually go to the store (and sometimes stand in long lines) to support their fave! And if you ask me, there should be some distinction between physical sales and today's streaming—these are two different eras—it's unfair to compare the two. Today, with streaming being a click away, social media influence, and such—it's easier for artists to break records. I could make this post longer, but I'll chill as I do have a lot to say about this—but I'll save that for another post. At this point, it's all laughable. It's a skewed numbers game, and artistry is no longer at the forefront. At the end of the day, Michael's music will continue to be played millions and millions of years from now because Michael poured his heart and soul into his art while battling so many things. That being said, I hope this provides some extra motivation for to stream Michael Jackson's Thriller. Let's make Michael #1!
Blessings,
Midnight💜🌛

This song...
I've never really made a proper post before, just shitposts and the occasional art thing. I want to make one to properly express how I feel right now and why this song represents it perfectly. I will warn you first, however, that this mentions a certain YouTuber who was recently completely destroyed on Twitter and my personal experience as a viewer, and may delve into some not-too-happy thoughts
Still here? Let's dive in
It all starts way back when I was still a kid. I was navigating the wonderful site known as YouTube, trying to find videos on videogames and, specifically, I think it was Super Paper Mario. I had no idea how to beat Chapter 2-3 (the Ruby debt one), and I needed help. That's when I stumbled across a YouTuber called Chuggaaconroy (a.k.a. Emile). The way he provided all the information I needed in one video was exactly what I needed. I couldn't subscribe to his channel because I didn't have a Google account, so I just periodically checked his channel, eventually learning he uploaded every day at 5 PM, perfect for younger me. I'd watch his videos when they came out, loving every single one. I eventually discovered his collab channel, The Runaway Guys, and loved that channel even more. He, Proton Jon (Jon) and NintendoCapriSun (Tim) entertained me for YEARS with their content. I even branched out into Jon's streaming community, becoming a semi-regular artist on the booru for a time (you can still find my stuff there under the name TehSm1tty. Not my best work, but I still like some of it). Years come and go, and I have my fair share of mental health troubles, but I'd always find Emile, Jon, and Tim there to brighten my days.
Fast forward to sometime last week. I've been pretty inactive on Twitter aside from my alts, but I decided to see what was popping on main. I log in and get recommended a post with the hashtag "WeStandWithChugga". I had no idea what was going on, so I looked into it. I won't go into detail here, but the jist of it is that Emile was a total creep to many women and even drove wedges between himself and good friends because of this weird behavior. There's a lot more to this than just that, but the point is that it shattered my view of him. I knew he was pushy and that always kinda annoyed me, but the extent of it broke me. For a few days now, I've been having a rough go of it. I mean, my childhood YouTuber just got outed as a complete creep and has some serious allegations of being at least a lolicon, at worst a pedo. I've been down and out for days, and it just wouldn't stop. That is, until I found out that Tim has a Reddit account. I never knew this (or, well, maybe I did and just forgot. Idfk), and was amazed to learn that Tim's been keeping Reddit updated on what he's able/willing to share. Turns out Emile's getting the help he needs at a legit mental hospital and that he's ok. That's what made everything stop. Hearing he's ok. After all the shit Emile has done, he's still a human being and doesn't deserve to have the whole internet turn on him in a fraction of a second. Hearing a fellow human is ok made me feel better. I'm not letting him off the hook, and I do not believe he should ever be forgiven for what he's done, but if he is willing to better himself and become a better person, I am more than willing to believe in that Emile.
Now to come to roughly 40 minutes ago. I decide to boot up Satisfactory and play a bit, but I have no idea what to listen to while I do. I put on a song but quickly get bored of it, and then I see "OMORI | Do You Remember? | Extended" in my recommendations. I put it on and instantly, as if I were splashed in the face by water, I wake up and feel better. I was still stressed about everything going on (I'm set to go to college in September, AND my folks are headed to Mexico in about a week, so I'm stressed from those too), but with the first note on the piano, everything faded. All my swirling negative emotions were replaced with a somber peace. I'm still hurt by the last week's revelations, and I'm never going to truly recover (who could?), but I'm moving on. I think my comment on the video describes how I feel best; "The sad yet peaceful feeling this song evokes in me... It's pretty much how I feel today. I feel at peace... or, well, mostly. There's still pain, and there always will be, but I can move on and I'll live. In the future, I'll look back on this last week and feel sad, but that'll be in the future when this is all over with for good, so I can also look back at before it and be happy that those good times happened. Nothing will ever be the same, but such is the way of the world. Saying goodbye is saying hello to the future, and we all need to do that eventually. Who knows what the future may hold? I, for one, can't wait to see. Hello future, and goodbye sadness".
Chuggaaconroy was an inspiration and a light in the sea of darkness for so, so many, and these revelations have snuffed the light he provided out. What I hope is that Emile takes a long, long break from the internet to become the person we all believed him to be, to truly become that bright light in the dark, rather than just another dark figure holding a flashlight. I don't hope for that as a supporter of him as I don't support who he is right now (as if I haven't said it enough), I hope for that as a fellow human who only wishes to see everyone become the best version of themself.
I think this post was exactly what I needed. I've finally gotten everything out in a cohesive (maybe?) and healthy manner, and I'm ready to become my best self. I will be beginning work on YouTube videos tomorrow, and will hopefully be posting Thursdays at 5 PM (in honor of DatPags whom has not uploaded in a long time).
To anyone who finished reading this post, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please, go become your best self, but do not do so by putting others down. Better yourself and acknowledge your flaws, overcome them, and do not repeat Emile's mistakes. Learn from those around you.
Yours truly,

i honestly cant see any benefit on pirating music and im not trying to be rude or anything i genuinely dont see any benefit from it
Benefits of pirating music:
This very archaic but still cool concept called “listening to music without the need of wifi” that used to be for free
Also I live in a country where there’s only one internet provider that is shit and still works on 3G which I imagine is the case for many other countries so ig if I want to go to a place that has shit signal I’ll go fuck myself and not listen to music? Yeh not happening
There aren’t any ads interrupting my vibes every three songs I can listen to my music with no interruptions (wild concept I know)
Monthly subscription? Anual plan? Family plan? Idk any of those concepts besties
Literally got my Spotify account hacked and whoever hacked it deleted my playlists with 200+ songs which is something that doesn’t happen when you download your music
“But you can download music from Spotify” yes if you pay for it 🙄
Like I know supporting musicians is important and that Spotify does pay them the very generous amount of 0.003 dollars per stream and takes 30% of their earning but like relying on streaming is not the best. You see what’s happening with Bouken Roku no one outside japan can listen to it and not to mention all the utaite albums that are region locked, not to mention that if one day Spotify decided to implode all that music you have? Boom gone adios you won’t see it again bc guess what? You don’t own that music so if the artist leaves Spotify and they delete all of their music? Guess you won’t listen to it on the go anymore! Bc it’s not only Spotify it’s the same with YouTube you have to pay for that music too if you wanna listen to it on your phone with the screen locked
Before anyone comes saying “you say you support Eve but you are stealing from him!” Not true actually bc my contribution may not be me streaming his music but I actually buy his CDs so ig when we live in the probable future where streaming is either dead or just unaffordable I can still listen to him. Call me a boomer or whatever but in the long run CDs are far better than streaming
“But CDs are obsolete! Computers can’t run them anymore!” For what I think it’s the fair price of 30 dollars you can buy this square thing that you unplug into your computer and it can run CDs just fine
Tumblr media
Anyway these are my 2 cents you can agree with them or not but like my point is that relying so much in streaming is not good and pirating is not as bad as everyone thinks. If you still want to support your artist fall in the capitalist pit and buy their merch and CDs

RINGING YOUR LINE  (CTY)
ex-turned-bf!taeyang x gn!reader
SYNOPSIS: The breakup was almost a year ago, but he still can’t forget you. It’s very much expressed through the song he produces and posted out of impulse, secretly hoping that you’ll listen to it.
WORD COUNT: 3K.
WARNINGS: hinting that the reader is a cold person (even though they’re not), one cuss word. In the song, the artist uses the she/her pronouns but the reader’s gender is never specified. Not much tbh but it can be a bit emotionally draining. Mentioning Shota as the MVP friend (thx q 💪🏻).
INSPIRED BY: LESSON (โค้ชลงเล่น) BY YUNGTARR.
A/N: well…. I’m not so proud of writing these short stories instead of working on the ones for my series but my brain is not working. Also I deeply apologize if the translated lyrics are not correct. I use google translate for it.
reblogs, comments and likes are appreciated!
Tumblr media
In the dimming room of a small studio room, there sits Taeyang, whose headphone is glued to his ears while his eyes cannot tear itself away from a folder that has only one song in there.
He is hesitating, rather more anxious than anything combined as he clicks on google, then looks at the opening tab, displaying his YouTube channel with over 360K subscribers on the site of YouTube studio.
He knows it’ll be a bad idea, a terrible idea even. His mind screams at him to not do it, but the need of expressing his honest feelings is eating him up.
Normally, when his friends ask him how he has been doing, he’ll simply answer with the usual ‘I’m fine.’ but he knows he’s far from being okay. The breakup with you has been hard, even though it was a mutual agreement that you guys are better off not being partners and parted ways on neutral terms that is. Everyday since then, he feels like he doesn’t want to live anymore because he regrets that decision so much.
 He should’ve stopped you.
Just like how he should’ve stopped himself from uploading the new song onto the YouTube channel where you can obviously see that. Heck, he thinks you’d think he’s weird for still being unable to get over you.
But too late for that as the new video ‘THEO - Ringin’ Ur Line (Official Audio)’ being posted and he just sighs in defeat, realizing that he makes such a fool of himself with the way he didn’t think of making the video unlisted or even private before it uploads onto the account.
And at the same time, you’re mindlessly scrolling through some apps when you see a notification from the channel called ‘THEO’ uploading a new song pops up on the screen. As much as you pretend not to care, you click onto it, ready to get your heartbroken, knowing that he most likely will never mention or even talk about you in his songs.
Who would get over someone who makes music and especially a catchy one anyway?
But what surprises you is the fact that he makes the song and sings with his own voice in this one, mainly because he’s a music producer. Although his appearance screams very ‘celebrity-like’ due to how good looking he is, he claims that he just wants to lead a normal life with no pressure that comes between his personal life and professional life. He chooses to work behind the spotlight and produces some of the greatest hits for well-known names in the industry. Never once does he put his own personal works out like this.
 So what changes?
You sit up to hear the lyrics and observe the song more carefully.
และสุดท้ายรักมันคืออะไร baby เธอตอบฉัน
And finally, what is love? Baby, you answer me.
You scoff at the thought of him having someone new he might be possibly singing about. Clearly, he wouldn’t really sing about you, would he?
บทเรียนสุดท้ายและครั้งที่สองเธอไม่พลาดพลั้ง
The last and second lesson, she didn't fail.
You wonder what he could possibly refer to. What does he mean with this exactly? Love lesson that gives him the kind of pain that is unforgettable?
It’s your cue to go because it’s not even about you.
You feel pathetic for ever assuming that it was about you, the person he sang about. You feel foolish and you’re mad at yourself for that. The cold wind doesn’t help much with warming your body either.
Somehow, you continue to listen because of the charming lyrics and melodies.
เธอตั้งใจทำอย่างนั้น
She did that on purpose.
เธอตั้งใจให้ผมเจ็บ
She intended to hurt me.
You wonder which girl really hurt him and how she managed to do so. Deep down, you wish to have the same effect that whoever did to him in this song.
You sigh as you continue listening.
baby เธอเองก็รู้ว่าใจดวงนี้มันสามารถซ้ำ
baby, you know that this heart can repeat itself.
เธอหยุดได้มั้ย baby ถือว่าผมขอร้อง
Can you stop, baby? Consider that I'm begging you.
Taeyang looks at the time on his phone and realizes something, he’ll forever sit alone and let you slip away from his life for good if he didn’t do something tonight.
He needs you in his life. He needs your love. He doesn’t want to continue to imagine the way you could only say those ‘i love you's' that his brain could only replay of the way you said it so much in the past that it deeply engraved in his mind like a clockwork.
He doesn’t want his heart trembling at the way you look so beautiful in the well kept polaroid of you two in his wallet anymore. He is done with torturing and lying to himself.
Grabbing his car keys, he impatiently waits for the engine to start working and looks around for the blind spots to make sure that the parking spot is empty before driving away.
pretend ว่าตัวผม strong
Pretend that I'm strong
ในสิ่งที่ทุกๆวันขณะในใจผมเจ็บขนาดนั้น
For something that every day in my heart hurts that much
He stops at a flower shop, owned by one of his good friends, Shota. Shota has a talent in rearranging flowers, although he wouldn’t need to utter a word for the customers to roll in because he’s adorable. Taeyang remembers that his first flower ever given to you was from Shota’s flower shop and now that he wants to reconcile you both, he figures that he should do that too.
He pants, upon the hurried travel to his friend’s store. Shota eyes him blankly, but continues to say nothing, waiting for the other person to speak first.
“I need a flower that says forever love. Not roses, obviously.”
“Was that for Y/N?” He questions, although he already knows the answer.
“How do you know that?”
“You can pretend that you’re fine and be strong for our sake, although you’re not really. You still think of them.”
Was the pain so obvious that even Shota, who normally just doesn’t comment and not caring about things most of the time can see?
He really realizes that you’re his better half.
And as for you, you find yourself relating to the lyrics he sings in this song. You truly dislike how reflective it is to your state of mind because you’ve been pretending you’re strong and you’re not hurting everyday.
Both of yours and his heart are aching for one another, wanting to belong as one again.
แค่เห็นที่ต้องเจ็บซ้ำ
Just seeing it hurts again.
เป็นเธอไม่มีสายใยแม้ไม่มีเธอเองก็ไม่ต่างกัน
It's you, there's no connection, even without you, it's no different.
There’s something you can never admit to your friend or anybody else. You’re ashamed to still confess out loud that you’re thinking of your ex boyfriend and that you read both of your text messages with each other.
You can’t understand it. Why can’t you get him out of your mind if he’s not exactly the most ideal man there is?
You sigh, it’s truly unpleasant to be having these late night thoughts where it betrays what you stand for.
Similarly to Taeyang, who also does look at the text messages you both shared, but with a different thought.
He used to take you for granted, but with you gone, he realizes that he had a gem but he was too blind by his own insecurities.
And if there’s no you, then nothing will make sense to him anymore.
“Hyung, your flower is ready.” Shota places the flower on the table, in front of where Taeyang keeps zoning out. The producer grabs the flower, amazed that the younger florist chooses pink asters, knowing that it represents eternal love, innocence and devotion for a person you deeply care about. He then stands up, slams the 10$ and 20$ on the table and screams out before exiting the shop.
“I know you’re gonna charge me 25$ but just accept 30$. Keep the change.”
Shota just shakes his head, sighing before going back to work.
I think about everyday, baby we used to talk.
Now you run away.
But baby I'm still walk.
Driving as fast as he can, he makes it his mission to place his vehicle in a place he knows it all too well. Nighttime has never looked more unexpected and almost scary to him because he can’t predict what is going to happen next. He can only hope that the music he mistakenly and might be posted under the influence of his idiocy conveys what he truly feels about the seperation.
Just only a month and 19 more days until it’ll be marked since a year you both break up. But yet in those days before it approaches, you occupy his thoughts every day and night.
Frankly, you’re the first and last thing he thinks of every single day.
He’s thanking the universe that he didn’t just crash and die right here with the way he’s speeding to you.
คิดถึงแต่โทรหาไม่ได้
I miss you but can't call.
อยากจะเรียกเธอมาช่วยเชียร์แต่ว่ามันทำไม่ได้
I want to call her to cheer me up but I can't.
Whenever he’s having a hard time, he wants to call you. But he can’t.
Whenever he’s happy, he can’t also call you.
And whenever he thinks of you, he can’t do that because you guys are not together anymore.
He wants to hear your voice, soothing his worries or cracking some jokes and laughing out so delightfully.
This trip to your house might be the last time he’ll get to see you. Or his wants will finally be granted.
Baby เธอตั้งใจ broke heart
Baby, you accidentally broke my heart.
You’re supposed to hate him, with the way he sings in this song. This line, a particular line, just like he said, it accidentally breaks your heart into pieces too.
You’re gritting your teeth in anger, were you never that important to him?
Had he never loved you enough that his heart could possibly break at the thought of you, of this too?
Were you the only one feeling this way?
You feel really start to resent him. God, what a fucking scumbag.
The love has never been reciprocated, so why can’t you let the thought of him completely slip out of your mind?
ย้ายความเจ็บปวดเข้าไปที่ broke heart
Move the pain into a broken heart
It’s only around 10 minutes, if without speeding up, until he’ll be at your door, making a fool of himself, without knowing if you still want him back. He doesn’t know if you’re seeing someone new. Because if you do, that flower in the passenger seat that he is meaning to give it to you will be left to rot, as a proof of his undying love.
He doesn’t think that he can ever move past the pain of not having you if the rejection comes through.
I'm still ทิ้งลงถังมันไม่ได้ baby
I'm still can't throw it in the bin, baby.
ทำลงไม่ได้ baby
Can't do it, baby.
Standing in front of the trash bin, you’re facing the most difficult of your life; whether to throw or not to throw every polaroid of you both together.
The song keeps playing, you’re holding 6 polaroids of you and him, which are taken on his birthday. There was a whip cream on his nose that he didn’t bother to wipe before taking the photos because he wanted to look cute and have fun, which you let him. It’s one of the fondest memories, out of every celebration you both had done together and you’re about to throw it away.
But your hand freezes, gripping onto those small pieces of pictures a bit too tightly.
And what happens if you throw it away? Would it only exist in your memories now with no physical evidence? Is that what you’re looking for?
And would you be happy to only have events that exist in your heart now?
What good would it do if you do anyway? You’d still continue to see the ghost of him everywhere you turn.
You can’t throw it away, you really can’t.
มันตัดใจไม่ได้ baby
I can't get over it, baby.
He can’t get over your smile, your voice, your personality, humor or you.
He almost feels sorry for himself that he acts like this, let alone letting you know how he feels.
It’s what he thinks as his car has come to a stop, safely parking itself in an open space era. He then opens the car door, holding the flower bouquet to his chest before closing it and locking the car door.
Something in your mind tells you to stop standing still and keep the polaroids hidden away if you’re not gonna throw it, burn it or even destroy it.
So you listen to your guts as you gently tuck your upper lips, anxious and confused on why did you back out on it last minute.
You know the answer way too well to that question. But you didn’t want to accept it.
เพราะผมรักจะตาย baby
Because I love you to death, baby.
“Ding!”
Your doorbell rings, startles you out of your trance when you’re so busy putting the polaroids back into a hidden box.
You’re confused on who would come to your door this late at night. It’s almost midnight, just only roughly 19 minutes to be exact as you look at the time displayed on the digital clock.
A gut feeling tells you that you might need to open the door as it’ll reveal the answer to everything you’ve been hoping for.
You’ll regret it if you don’t.
Most importantly, you’re hoping it’s him who is behind that door, ringing your doorbell, asking you to be back in his life. But you shake your head at the ridiculousness before you stand up, taking slow steps to get to the door. Your palm grips tightly onto that doorknob, not knowing if you want to do so.
และสุดท้ายรักมันคืออะไร baby เธอตอบฉัน
And finally, what is love? Baby, you answer me.
Is the last phrase you hear before your phone dies. You sigh as you twist the doorknob and you’re met with the man you thought you’d never get to meet again.
Choi Taeyang standing in front of you. With a bouquet of pink asters in his hands.
He wears a white sweater for tonight, a casual look but it makes him look almost breathtaking because he is simply the most beautiful guy you’ve ever known. He looks anxious, not knowing what to say at first as he hands you the asters and you gladly accept it.
“Did you hear my new song?”
The question catches you off guard. Because what game does he want to play now?
“I do.” You nod, face lack of any expression, opposite to the male in front of you who looks unsure and almost on the verge of tears. You can sense the anxiousness radiating off him but you choose not to ask about it.
“Well- what do you think about it?” He looks at you, hoping you’d respond to it differently than you do now, because it’ll kill him if you continue to be standoffish like that.
“It’s nice.”
“The song… it’s about you.” He confesses, observing the way your eyebrows quirk in confusion and the gleam in your eyes that plead him to almost repeat whatever he just said.
“Ever since we broke up, it’s never been easy on me. I want to call you so bad but I know you wouldn’t pick up those calls. Every day that I live, the memories of us haunt me so bad, it’s like you intended to hurt me and to make sure that I’ll never get over you. It’s lame that I can’t move on and I’m still in love with you. And now, here, making a fool of myself, asking you to be mine again.”
You stare at him, a bit dumbfounded and losing yourself in the moment that all of this happens in real time and it’s not your imagination anymore. You let each of the phrases that escape his lips sink into your mind and process itself into your brain as you can only admire him, no words being exchanged.
Taeyang is scared, preparing for your rejection already as you go absolutely silent. He could die right now, if not for the fact that he hasn’t heard the final word that determines whether he’ll continue to live in misery or start a new chapter with absolute happiness.
“Y/N, please say something. If you’re gonna reject me, please do it fast!”
“Idiot, I never stopped loving you.” Your face breaks into the biggest grin he has ever seen and every tension and worry just completely escapes from his body.
He takes a step forward to hug you, losing himself in your embrace. He misses your love, your warmth. His home, his livelihood all just connects back to you as he feels like the happiest man in the world.
“Thank god because I thought I’ll live with regret for my entire life.” He mumbles, feeling so content by the physical contact for the first time in months. You try to gently peel yourself off from him, he pouts at you sadly, pleading to be in your embrace for a little longer but before allowing that to continue happening, you scold him.
“Get off of me! What kind of house owner would I be if I let my guest stand outside for this long.”
He smiles, showing off the adorable eye smile that you love so much.
“Is that your way of inviting me inside?”
He teases you back, taking off his shoes as he observes you and every corner of your living space, happy to have you back in his life again.
“Oh shut up before I kick you out.” You give him a stern stare, with your now boyfriend trailing behind you to chill in the living room. He only grins at you teasingly before responding back.
“Fine.”

Checklist for Face Day
While you wait around today, please use a QUEUE on YouTube instead of a playlist, as this is the last day of tracking for Set Me Free Pt. 2 and it takes too long for playlists to count. Here's a good one.
Around 8pm EST, you need to start playing Jimin-discography playlists on Spotify to set him up with a high position on their Daily Global Artists chart.
Later tonight, Jimin's interview will appear on Jimmy Fallon, on NBC at 11:35pm EST--approximately 25 minutes before the Like Crazy Music Video Premiere. If you cannot watch it in your region, Our Magic Shop on Discord will be hosting a stream of it under the magic-shop-media thread.
Jimin may also go live on WeVerse before the premiere drops. You're gonna wanna have a few screens around you tonight so you don't miss out.
It is crucial you use another device while all this is going on so you can tune in for a clean stream of the Music Video Premier because those views will be added for the charts and it is extremely unlikely a premiere video will be frozen or deleted.
Cometh the hour, you watch the crap out of the music video--you like, you share, you send it to all your friends and social media accounts and encourage folks to watch it.
Next you're going to want to go to all your pre-sale emails and actually go in and download your purchases. If you do not download your sale, it does not count for the chart.
Then you're going to go into every iTunes and Amazon account you have and you're going to order a digital copy of the FACE album if you haven't already.
One credit card or gift card = 1 account = 1 album purchase. Buy as many as you can afford. There is no faster, cleaner way to chart an artist than to buy their digital album.
Then it's time to actively stream on your premium accounts.
TURN OFF YOUR VPN!
FACE will feature five original songs in this order:
“Face-off”
“Interlude: Dive”
“Like Crazy”
“Alone”
“Set Me Free Pt.2”
In addition, the tracklist will be bolstered by an English-language version of “Like Crazy.”
Stream the whole album but our main job is to prioritize Like Crazy Korean and English versions.
You know the drill. Search manually on YouTube for the first 24 hours. Play it all the way through at 51% volume. Click around on other Jimin or BTS music videos for about a minute. Search again. Play again.
Prioritize both versions of Like Crazy but build in diversity, pause, adjust things, act like a human. You can listen to it 50 times, then you need to switch to another premium account.
Because YouTube is being a little bitch and fucking up the stream count for Jimin right now (don't stop using it--every stream is critical right now, but you can be grump about it while you do), I also signed up for a free trial of Apple Music today and have liked Jimin's profile there.
Tumblr media
DO NOT ADD HIS SONGS TO YOUR LIBRARY. If you bought FACE songs from iTunes, go into your Apple Music account and delete them from your library for now. If they are in your library, Apple Music will automatically play from there and it won't count for charts.
Just go under Jimin's profile and play them that way. You can keep playing them from your main account without having to switch Apple Music accounts. No limits on number of plays, just click around on other songs for 30-60 seconds from time to time and don't loop. This is gonna be critical for supplementing YouTube handicaps.
While you're working on that, you gotta fire up your premium Spotify accounts. Make sure all your accounts are following the artist as a monthly listener.
You know you can play something 20 times on Spotify and then you're done with that account for that song for the day. So keep an eye out for how many times the songs of FACE play in your list and set an alarm so you can switch to the next premium Spotify account and keep working.
There are two ways of charting FACE on Spotify. You can play the album all the way through, with the songs all in order, or you can prioritize the title track and use the rest of the album and other BTS songs as filler.
I'm gonna be following JRJ-OT7's lead on this because Jennifer has more than earned my trust when it comes to chart goals, but if you want to tailor your own experience, here are examples of how to flesh things out (album order vs. title track priority):
Tumblr media
If you're making your own lists and queues and whatnot, please remember to include fillers like On the Street, Smoke Sprite, and Vibe as new releases and the Astronaut, Wildflower, More, Fake Love, and Sweet Night for milestones. Please also add in Left and Right, Dreamers, and Stay Alive as we only have four days left to help Jungkook break the 1 Billion Record.
So to recap:
*Watch and share the hell out of the premiere video.
*Prioritize the title track Like Crazy (English and Korean versions) but it's a short album so hit all songs in your playlists.
*Download your pre-sale purchases.
*Prioritize making digital purchases today. Make new accounts and use gift cards if you need to.
*Premium streaming accounts count three times as much in the charts. Use free trials for YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Stream the album like crazy on all of those. (If you have premium accounts, you can open all of those in their own browsers and hit 'em all at once on one device if you have to--headphone recommended so you don't go nuts.)
*Delete Face songs from your library in Apple Music first.
*Search manually the first 24 hours on YouTube, then switch to playlists.
*Shazam the songs as you play them.
*Never loop. Never shuffle. Never use VPN.
*Ignore the bullshit from antis and drama queens. Today and tomorrow belong entirely to our artist. We focus on Jimin and only Jimin, and we encourage each other with a positive attitude, good humor, and sheer grit.
I intend to be awake and stream actively for 24 straight hours starting at midnight EST tonight, so I'm going to hop offline now and get some rest.
If you have questions, you might want to take a look at the BTS Tutorial masterlist.
Good luck and God's speed, puppykitties! Let's lift our boy up!

Hi Stormblessed,
Dug up tumblr to ask a question on my mind. You are the most ot7 I know. So for context, I don’t think I’m ot7 well I don’t know. I like BTS as a group, I listen to their songs and watch run BTS content. I love them as a group and have even watched them in concert.
But the only person I’m really interested in as a solo artist is Jimin, I found your blog because I was curious as to what was going on with JK, but for the most part I don’t really care too much about his private life, but I am a big fan of what Jimin brings to the table.
By the way, I have given the other members songs a listen. I liked Astronaut, wildflower, rush hour and closer, those are in my daily playlist. Some of suga are nice too.
I like Jimins voice a lot , his song Promise is what gave me the push to look into BTS’ music, and is still my favorite. I love his voice, artistry and respect for my members.
Since I like Jimin and keep up with his activities, especially on his album, I get a lot of Jimin biased things on twitter. Some of them can be mean, putting down the other members, I don’t like that…but for the most part they seem to be just caring about Jimin. Those are the ones that get the most likes obv.
The issue I am having is why is there this divide between army’s and as they call it “solos”. I understood it before when the boys were a group, but now it’s every man for themselves. I can understand disliking the haters, but I hate the idea of putting a whole group in a box.
And I feel like this issue needs to be nipped because they are going to be more “solos” as they are some people who won’t care for BTS and just care for a specific member. Or like me, a specific member led to their intro to the group.
This ask is long but it bothers me as it seems hypocritical. Many persons who could like BTS are thrown off because they hear Army is a toxic fandom, and even though I wouldn’t classify me as an army, I spent a lot of time defending them on YouTube saying only some are like that, don’t generalize the group.
So to see some fans refuse to take money from a well meaning account because it is Jimin biased and not ot7 really rubs me the wrong way.
This account has $10,000 to support Jimins album and some people who are broke(like me lol) could really benefit.
I think it leads to a bigger problem. Which is that these army made “ot7” rules and regulations do not fit with the fact that there is no BTS right now. BTS is on a break. The boys are solo and will get some fans who only support them and not the rest.
And it is a difficult transition but that’s just how it is. It’s sad some of the members solo fans hate the others, don’t really see how that works, but every artist has those obsessed fans like that. Those “my artist is better than yours” people, just look at Cardi and nicki fans.
I don’t know, maybe cause I only care about Jimin in that capacity I’m biased so I’m hoping after this epistle you can help me to see a different angle.
Hi, I don't have a ton of time to really write a whole essay on this for you honestly right now. But I will say, BTS are still BTS. They are focusing on solo work, but it's not every man for themselves. They are all supporting each others solo work ALOT. Hyping each other up. Streaming and reacting to each others songs. Encouraging people to listen to each others songs. Etc. And continuing to talk all the time about how they love getting to do and showcase their individual work, but that they want that in conjunction with BTS as a whole too and they will be coming back together after military service. Solos are often haters. Some are just more blatant about it than others. But solos are usually people who view the other members as direct competition against whoever their favorite member is. And will often think badly (aka be a hater) towards the other members. I touch on that in this post here. Briefly
The other thing is that while I can understand the sentiment, and the desire to have everyone just take the money to support Jimin no matter what. It's not always that easy. The exchange of money comes with the exchange of personal and private information, that of given to an untrustworthy person, can end badly. @beautifulpersonpeach actually did a post breaking down this in way more detail with way more examples and explanations and rather than trying to figure it all out myself in ways i could explain well here too, I'm just going to send you to her post
I'm not saying all this drama is deserved with the funds account I think you are referencing in your ask or that people shouldn't use funds from them. I don't know the account or their history or anything else to really give an opinion one way or the other. I just know I'm here for BTS. I'm here for Jimin. I'm ready to support him as much as I can. So as for using funds from any funds donation account, that should be a personal decision one makes for themselves. No one should influence that decision for you since it's your own money and information you are dealing with there.
And I also know that @chikooritajjk has set up a really nice FACE masterlist with links and information set up to help inform about funds, purchasing, goals, streaming, charting, etc. It's all well done and I'll link that post here as well because they did an amazing job and put it all together way better than i could and everyone should see it if they are wanting to promote and support Jimin in the best ways for it to count numbers wise. And they have a donation guide post coming soon
^ hopefully both those links work. Both tagged accounts are great accounts and resources too. They are both so knowledgeable and kind and know a lot and are OT7 with various bias lines and just love BTS and love music.
Tumblr media
I apologize again for my absence (which will continue over the next few days, I'll try to be here when I can) lately. I'm on vacation and enjoying time with my family. The down time I have is usually just going straight to catching up on whatever Jimin has dropped that day or the other members have surprised us with. Lol

DMC Questions Anon here!
What sort of music would be on each character's (that you want to talk about) Spotify Wrapped?
Run free my headcanons and fresh new musings!
Nero would have a crap-ton of random music on his, from Kyrie and the kids using his account around the house. He's given up on his recommended artists at this point but loves seeing Wrapped so he can speedrun whatever the heck happened to his account throughout the year. He and Kyrie sit with a coffee and have a good chuckle when Wrapped eventually drops. I headcanon Nero with late 90s/early noughties vibes - still fresh since Fortuna is a little behind the times! Pop rock, metal, emo, indie - maybe some fun pop punk from the mainland now Fortuna has opened up a little! Some Bowling for Soup, Papa Roach, Korn, Muse. The only headcanon I won't compromise on? The guy loves Linkin Park (and therefore has excellent taste).
Vergil would adapt to modern internet speeds pretty quickly and would really enjoy listening to random violin covers of pop/rock songs on youtube etc (thank you, V's taunt). Maybe in comparison he keeps his Spotify playlists immaculately organised by genre. YouTube is for browsing, Spotify is his library, so no big surprises for him in his end of year summary. I reckon that like Dante, he likes rock and metal, being a child of the 80s. He likes lyrics with deeper meanings or that tell a story (Nightwish! Kate Bush! Harvey Danger! Alice in Chains!) but he's known for his speed, so he likes fast stuff too (think Pendulum - he finds it relaxing), as well as some classical compositions he remembers Sparda listening to in childhood for when he wants to privately remember how things used to be. This year on spotify he did however discover the "darkcore" genre and made a little playlist (I:Scintilla and HEALTH make his top songs list because when this guy obsesses over something he really does). He and Nero bond over mutual love of the Arctic Monkeys. Nero is pretty surprised to see some drill in there though - Vergil has lived an interesting life, so he might be more open minded than you think.
Dante, Dante, Dante. If the man has a spotify account, it just has one playlist that is 1000 hours long full of all the random music he likes. He's a versatile guy - pop, modern and classic rock, country, hair metal, jazz - anything that tickles his fancy. Has a soft spot for John Farnham because Eva loved him and it reminds him of her, so he definitely makes an appearance. Playlist will go something like this "Scorpians -> Madonna -> Kiss -> NSync -> Buckcherry -> Mud -> Billie Piper -> Metallica -> Portishead -> ibiza2009_j.s.InDaHouse remix". Somehow the combination works, but Wrapped can't handle it and self-destructs, so Dante goes back to the jukebox to listen to his mermaid rock 💔
Great ask as always @dmc-questions-anon !

I have some other music posts here and here if you want some more general reccs, I have a few lesser known artists on there so hopefully these help!! There’s also quite a few other people besides me making new crunkcore like Dart Darling, Keila Kreepz, Pizzamachine, Kira, Kuma AKA, among others (all of which are also on SoundCloud)
As for my socials, you can find all my current ones in my carrd (in my bio :P) pretty much the only ones I’m active on are here and YouTube (if you can call me active over there lol) I used to have a Tik Tok but I don’t really like going on there anymore :(
My best advice to you for finding other scene friends would be to post more here and actively seek out other places like discord servers. Most of my online scene friends just came from me existing in these circles, you’ll find your people <3
Also Juliet is a beautiful name!! Wishing you the best of luck becoming the scene queen of your dreams :D

Your idea about this new hetalia week sounds great! Can you tell us more?
Sure! Thanks for the ask! Prepare for rambling
For people seeing this without context, here's a link to my poll with the interest check: hyperlink
I'm thinking about calling it Hetalia Jukebox Week or something. That's my working title for now until/unless I think of something better.
I came up with the idea last night when I realized just how much music makes me Think. I have a WIP NA Bros fic about an event from my personal life I remembered after listening to Mitski's "Brand New City." In a way my Migraines in Margaritaville AU is inspired by "Margaritaville" (though it's more like a pipeline. Margaritaville song -> Margaritaville restaurants -> Ted & Eddy Margaritaville videos -> my NA Bros Margaritaville fic). Hell, just last night I was thinking about how a lyric from a Fall Out Boy song makes me want to write about a messy divorce/infidelity using the line "Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?"
I'm thinking of hosting it in January. I don't want to overlap with anyone else's event so right now I'm thinking of hosting it January 21st-27th or February 18-24th (the latter date isn't ideal though because there are events during the two prior weeks and I don't want anyone to become stressed with all of the events they want to partake in).
Giving us until the end of January also gives time for us to vote on the prompts.
The timeline I'm thinking about is the following:
• I pull together all of the details by the end of this week (10/14) • I set up the event account @hws-jukebox-week with all of the information, rules, and we start doing polls • Poll #1: Lyric submissions (~10/28-11/10) • Poll #2: Prompt voting (~11/12-11/26) • Prompt list is posted ideally on December 1st • Event starts January 21, ends January 28 • I will be reblogging work as I see it during the week and up to two weeks after the end!
I'm thinking that with the prompts, there's 3 options per day. There'll be a general theme connecting them so if people want to use more than one prompt to inspire their work, they can! There's also hyperlinks to the song for each lyric. Here's two examples I've just slapped together:
Day 1 | January 21 (Attraction)
• "Does your husband know the way the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?"
• "I'm gonna show you how this Italian amor"
• "Say my name and his in the same breath, I dare you to say they taste the same"
Day 2 | January 22 (Empowerment)
• "I was born into this, Won't hesitate to use my fists"
• "I made my goddamn self, a product of my own design"
• "Trying to recognize myself when I feel I've been replaced"
I'll make google forms as appropriate, but the initial one will be a form for people to submit the specific lyric they want chosen, give me the song, artist, and a link to a youtube video for the song. Might also be a good idea for what theme you consider the song to be. Maybe when it comes to lyrics submissions, I'll have some themes that you need to provide songs for? Not sure about that yet.
People can use the lyrics as lines in their work, as the title, or just an outline for what happens! It'd also be really cool to see how people transform music into a visual work
What do we think? Some community feedback would be great!

I just saw the Spotify might change their royalties model and that it would hit indie artists hardest. Are you posting your music elsewhere? I follow you on Spotify but now I'm looking into other places for music and want to continue supporting your awesome music!!

I love you and thanks for asking.
Except for a few covers that are limited by licensing restrictions, my stuff is on all major and some minor platforms (I do sometimes lag in putting things on Bandcamp because lazy). I'm not monetized on Soundcloud because that system is somewhat different and IIRC not as welcoming of truly small artists, so any of my tracks that you find there are either on my "just for fun" accounts or are someone's illegal reupload.
Reminder to the new folks: I'm Firjii everywhere but also started another artist pseudonym as Kathy Warnecke (which should also be on all the same platforms by now).
Tidal and Apple usually have the best royalty payout rates and Spotify is among the worst (but no platform has a guaranteed fixed rate). Youtube is all over the place but usually on the low end. Downloads always pay better than streams, but I know some people can't do this or prefer to continually support with streams over time instead of paying once.
I'm also gonna take a minute to FUCKING RANT explain things to the uninitiated since virtually all my listeners on tungles are freemium Spotify users. From what I understand, this change has been finalized and it's not speculation at this point.
The deal is they'll withhold royalties from a song in a given calendar year unless it's streamed at least 1,000 times ANNUALLY (not lifetime).
Although the change will only consider per-track stats (not social media-like numbers such as followers/listeners or a measurement of how established the artist's presence is), in practice, this will specifically demonetize small/niche artists and have little or no impact on medium and big names. It will also affect the payouts small artists get from distributors because many of those have their own minimum payout thresholds.
I need people to understand just how shitty this is.
Say you're a prolific creator or recorded some live shows from a tour and you released 150 tracks in a year. If each track only got streamed on Spotify 999 times that year, they're pretty much saying you'd get paid for.......yup, exactly zero Spotify streams, not the 149,850 you're otherwise owed. I have no idea if this will impact PRO (performance rights organization) payouts, but I refuse to believe it would be legal to also withhold that share of royalties.
In the Spotify world, 1k streams is a tiny achievement (and still translates to a very small payout, so the concern is: what's to stop them from raising that minimum even more in the future?). But especially when the hurdle is per song per year, this can be a tough goal for indie or specialty genre artists to reach or maintain, including me.
I have a long history of disliking Spotify in particular for many reasons, but I upload there because it's the only way some people will listen. I strongly encourage anyone who is able to use other platforms to explore their options.
I know a lot of folks are too broke to pay for music and Spotify is a notable example of a freemium option, but this change is so, so, SO bad for SO many artists.
