I feel like Yniol is so underrated. I love my overprotective knight 🫶 How does Yniol best relax? Do they have any comfort items? What kind of clothes do they like to wear? What’s their favorite color? All the ROs are awesome I just wanted to send some love for my favorite mother hen. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ahh some Yniol love❤

Yniol relaxes by doing small, repetitive activities in private. Maybe making flower crowns, or polishing their armor, or mending their clothes. When Yniol needs to think and reflect, they find a couple of spots on the inner walls where they can see the city from above.

Yniol thrives with their routine, and so their comfort items are things they mostly either use everyday, such as their spear, or things that hold a great sentimental value. Some little notes/presents from the orphans (which they always keep), mostly.

Yniol wears simple clothes 99% of the time. They are born a commoner, and never became accustomed to the fashion in the castle. Their clothes are either practical, or very very simple, like a long coarse tunic in private.

Favourite color is blue (like the sky).

so of the romances, i honestly could not choose. Arthur is such a sweetheart, and i have a soft spot for kind people. but Evaine man. something about them being mysterious...and the way they invited me to spar with them STOP i was giggling. there is a poly route for the two of them so i just might do that, to be honest. i also loved Yniol a whole lot. again...kind people. as for my hound, i was leaning on the "intimidating" side of it, while being compassionate. i picked the options that i would do realistically!!

What would you say are the main "themes" or "tropes" for every route? (poly routes too, if possible)

Arthur: arranged marriage (duh), extreme devotion (on both sides), destined love

Evaine: pining (mutual or one sided at first - by Evaine), healing from past relationships (Evaine), dealing with rumors (about Evaine, about MC, about both)

Yniol: slow burn, mutual protectiveness,

Morien: annoyances (affectionate) to lovers, strangers to lovers, recovery

Gwyar: forced proximity, confidant to lover, partners in crime

POLYS

Arthur/Gwyar: power dynamics (you know who has the most power - gwyar), power throuple

Arthur/Evaine: fluff and comfort, found family, gossip (both done by the poly, and done to the poly)

Yniol/Morien: healing from trauma, slow burn, taking care of each other, pining

I’am trying hard to release the first chapter this week, but man are the days passing by so quickly. About me... East European, recently engaged, mother of a black house panther. I just turned 30 last week, but I’m still a teen at heart and mind. Nothing will ever stop me from reading fantasy and sci-fi and playing video games. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

As for other IFs, anything fantasy/ sci-fi really. But it’s gotta have at least a dash of romance in it too :)) I doubt most of you will not have heard of these, they are quite popular and they deserve all the praise! But in case you haven't, I added the links to them ♡ I think like most of us I started with Wayhaven and Fallen Hero, those are still some of my favorites. The Nameless and Fields of Asphodel are some other pretty big IFs that most of you probably already know of.

Attollo - Ya’ll most likely know this one too, but it might be my favourite IF out there. The sheer amount of dedication and lore is on another level. Still can’t decide between Operator and Dreamwalker. The Night Market - I can’t even remember how I found this one, but I did one night and then it was morning when I finished my first playthrough. It’s such a unique idea and so beautifully written and Milo has my heart. Novaturient - A spy action comedy where MC is the handler of the most charming spy. But then there’s also Noah, the villain, and I AM SO TORN. Bonus, Ella, she’s the sweetest human. Vendetta - Mafia with superpowers. Need I say more? Another IF where I have an OC for all the ROs. Also super detailed world and lore. Golden - Oh, look, another IF where all the ROs are precious and I LOVE them all. It’s got vampire, demigod/goddess, werewolf and witch/warlock, all wrapped up nicely in intrigue and mystery. The King's Hound - Arthurian IF, but MC is a badass warrior! I was sure I’d go for Arthur, but then I read that Yniol is 6’6” (2.00m) and I was like, Arthur Who? Will break that arranged marriage real quick :)) The Porthecrawl Witness - An absolute gem. I want to know what will happen to Asher so badly :(( But also Stacy has my heart.

You're on of my favourite authors and I'm genuinely really curious as to what your brainstorming looks like as well as outline/plotting process when it comes to your story and characters. Everrthtung you write is just too good.

Aww, I am so honored. I'll put the answer under the cut because it ended up quite long (hope you won't mind!):

In terms of very early brainstorming, I have two options when I create a new story: to start from the plot or from a general concept. TCO and TKH belong in the first category: the whole thing was born out of a specific scene I got in my mind, something that would happen much later in the story and that gave me the base to create the plot and, later, the characters.

It was a different process for A Father's Love and From the Ashes, since the first was born out of the concept of a vampire who was also a priest and the second (funnily enough) was a mash of two ideas: dragon shifters and regency era. In this case, the main characters were created first and the plot came later.

About the side characters/ROs, they can be created very quickly from an initial idea that will be expanded or they can take a lot of time to feel right. They will always, always need a period of time to be fleshed out the way I want. I often go for a type of character I want to write about (Arthur: the softest boi, Yniol: gentle giant...) and then add layers on that to make them more dimensional and unique.

I've actually had some problems with FtA's ROs at first, I struggled for a bit more than a month to come up with something that did feel right. Same thing happened for Yniol and for Rascia (the LI in TKH) and will probably happen with some characters in A Father's Love as well.

For the general outlining of the story/chapters, I usually prefer to have the whole plot fleshed out beforehand. It gives me a direction to follow so that I don't get lost or demoralized mid way. This is true especially for TKH, which is quite long and has three distinct sections within the story.

I then plan the chapters just before writing them, with an outline of the scenes that will need to be in there from the first one to the last one so that it's somehow organic. As I write, though, I know I will surley add some additional scenes/characters made up on the moment, and honestly those are often a great added material (for example the kid on the ship in TKH or the Leechen handler in TCO).

Enide (Welsh: Enid) is a character in Arthurian romance. She is the wife of Erec in Chrétien de Troyes' Erec and Enide, and the wife of Geraint in the Welsh romance of Geraint and Enid analogous to Chrétien's version. Some scholars believe the French and Welsh tales derive from a lost common source, but it seems more likely Geraint derives directly or indirectly from Erec, though Chrétien may have had a Welsh or Breton source.

In the common story, Enide and her lover meet while the hero is on a mission to defeat a cruel knight, and her family provides him with armor and food. They fall in love and marry, but the hero begins to forsake his social and chivalric duties for domestic bliss. Rumors spread, and Enide blames herself. One night, her husband overhears her crying about damaging his reputation.

In Chrétien's version, Erec begins to question Enide's love, but in Geraint the protagonist misunderstands her sobs and thinks she has been unfaithful to him. In both romances, the hero makes her accompany him on a long and dangerous trip, and forbids her to talk to him. Enide ignores this command several times to warn her husband of impending danger. Over the course of the trip, Erec/Geraint proves his abilities as a knight have not faded and accepts that Enide's love and loyalty are genuine, and the couple is reconciled.

In Geraint and Enid, Enid's father is Yniol, an earl who was ousted from his earldom by his nephew Yder, the "Knight of the Sparrow-Hawk". Yder is compelled to restore his land when bested by Geraint.

This tale was not retold in many variants. In Alfred, Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King, the hero is named Geraint, and Tennyson conforms to that version of the tale.

Because I got some writing done, I decided to do a two-for-one special regarding my MC’s for @the-kingshound demo release

On the left is Gwenvaël; he/him, 6′5″, stoic, reserved and in control. I’m thinking he’s gonna be my main Arthur romancer, slow burn style.

However with BP: Wakanda Forever coming to theaters in like 9 days, and me getting hella into sims 4 again, I was thinking of writing a Black Panther story but in the sims 4 game? Got home and I was so exhausted, I just showered and fell into bed pretty much immediately. However, I’m up for now and I decided to actually get to making these character Picrews like I said (in reality I said moodboard but I’m tired--). 

1.) Ri’en The Mistaken Divine

I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in I'll never meet the ground Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us We're far from the shallow now

My Elementalist. Sweet as sugar and protective of Shian, Ri’en casually adopted the homunculus, (or were they surprise kidnapped?) and escaped the facility with Ae-ri. Compassionate, humble, stoic and cautious, she fully plans to disappear from the world at first opportunity. It’s nice to be alive once again, but she’s done her part for humanity. 

Honestly, I think I ship her with Frieda. 

2.) Sirius The Eldritch Elder

Oh, my love What have I done? There's nowhere left for us to run And now I'm standing in the sunlight And I can't bear the sight of you

My Blood wielder. Stoic and proud, merciless and bold, but apathetic, he’s taken Shian with him from the facility, uncertain of his feelings regarding the fact that his heart resides in the homunculus. Literally lost control of his Abyssal form, chomped Amaryllis’ arm, and killed everyone except Ae-ri (the massive loss of control has this boy shook). Regardless of anything, it’s imperative that the child is protected, lest he expire again. 

I ship him with Meidh.

People on my posts tryna argue with me. //They deleted the comments because I’m spreading the truth

Legit reblogging and complaining in the comments, and thinking I’ll be quiet.💀 I can do this all day but I won’t since I have work in a couple hours. It still entertains me that they keep reiterating the same thing. Fanfics are literally created for this sole reason: if you disagree with what canon is, you can change it. I know some of y’all clearly enjoy complaining because the creators aren’t doing exactly what you the fans are wanting them to do but you know what that’s called?? 

Entitlement. 

This is a story that they write for themselves and we as fans get to enjoy it for free. It is not a group project. It’s a visual novel, some plot points are going to remain the same no matter how much you cry and ponder sending anon hate over. It is not an IF game where your choices actually can change the story, that is the difference.

My #1 post of 2022

Spoilers for Andromeda Six episode 6 under the cut. Don’t read if you ain’t finished and can’t handle an opinion.

Truth be told, I think I annoyed myself going in the a6 tag, expecting something different. I was tricked yet again. Some people would be happy Nerissa stayed dead???????? Her being alive erases us from the narrative? 

...Wut?

Did y’all forget that big ass post the creators made awhile ago saying that this is not a romance game? It’s mainly geared towards sci-fi and action/adventure, maybe with a dash slice of life and found family trope sprinkled throughout. That’s the whole reason the Traveler exists, that is the point of the story. The players getting to smooch the cute characters occasionally and get close is fan service and the story reads fine without any of that in there, regardless. 

So what the real problem is? 

I think y’all want Nerissa to be dead so y’all characters can be king/queen/ruler of the galaxy which is everybody’s dream, of course. There’s no guarantee that won’t happen anyway??? The FAQ suggested like 10 episodes, who knows, she could actually kick the bucket and die, Wanderlust could give us choices that lead to her being hurt, etc. and our Travelers still end up ruling anyway. 

If y’all don’t see foreshadowing with how the tyrant king became ruler after his family died, to the situation with the Traveler and Nerissa being put in similar situations, I don’t know what to tell you.
