Some character designs for a wlw Gilgamesh inspired story. Or, half Gilgamesh inspired, half inspired by two similar sounding names with almost contradictory meanings. (Gideon = hewer/feller [presumably sometimes of trees], Gwydion = born of trees)
I *may* have overdone either the muscles or the femness on Zaira. Might tone that back in future.

Fae-coded
You can almost feel like the Christian writers know that Gwen can't and can never be an ordinary lady, especially within THIS kind of setting - the Arthurian Setting, the pinnacle of the Chivalric Romance genre.
A setting where nothing ordinary or mundane is at the forefront. A setting where men like Arthur and Lancelot exist - Men who are objectively superhuman - both in character and in physicality.
This is a world where Arthur, Lancelot and every other male character has curb-stomped entire armies by their lonesome, go toe-to-toe with fearsome monsters, and endure punishing physical challenges that would kill lesser men.
Where Arthur can be the most charismatic and most virtuous king in the world, ruling over a kingdom with strange habits and customs. Where Lancelot can harbor love so strong, that it can both empower him as much as it kills him.
And these men are in love with Guinevere.
Guinevere, as character in this genre, HAS to be an exemplar female in order to fit in and complement the men in her life. The problem is that the exemplar women of this genre are on the cusp, if not outright, of unchristian status.
Other Arthurian women who are Fae-coded include:
Isolde (who is a "doctor", whose uncle is the giant Morholt)
Enide (who has several cousins with strange-looking horses and another cousin who trapped her lover in an enchanted garden; Chretien de Troyes saw fit to assure the readers that Enide didn't use spells or charms to arm Erec)
Laudine (who owns a magical storm-making fountain and a magic ring)
Lynette & Lyonesse (One is capable of reviving a knight that has been cut to pieces. The other also owns a magic ring. Both are sisters of the Lord of Avalon)
Ragnelle (who has a brother by the name of Gromer Somer Jeure, which means "Man of Summer Day", and is made the mother of Gawain's son Gingalain, who is normally half-fae)
...and all of them are described as unbelievable beauties comparable to Guinevere. Right.

This is where we can say anything we want The spectators have no love, so let’s do it flamboyantly The result is everything, even though it’s unforgivable This is our one chance, so let us live in this world

every geraint in retellings is worse than the last. like i suppose gwen rowley’s or sarah zettel’s could be considered the best of the worst but god he’s still insufferable. like it’s baked in and nobody has done anything to mitigate it bc what can you change without fundamentally disassembling the character? even if we turn to the vulgate for supplemental lore what more do we have? that part where he kills his own sister? horrendous character. at this point someone should just lean in to his horrible behavior and then give enid an arc in which she outgrows him and leaves the abusive situation. no amount of reworking geraint can salvage him for a story that presents their continued marriage as the happy ending.

1. who are ur top 5 fav AK characters?
2. what are your thoughts on enide?
3. what/whos ur pfp?
4. if i can give you a nickname, what do u want it to be (if ur comfortable with it only!)?
thats all from me! sorry if ur busy or if im bothering you, haha..
Good morning Kel!!!
I know it's not necessary but I'm going to list them anyway!
1. Ruuuby, Acorn, Mitzi, Vasilis and Allie.
2. I like her design and personality, but I don't like what she did in the game.
3. My pfp is a recolor that I made of Viper as a Coral Snake, but out of focus and with red and black lines.
4. I think a nickname is the best (My user name is EXTREMELY long), you can call me "Coral" If you want.
And don't worry Kel, you're not bothering me at all!!

Enid in the Idylls of the King (1913), illustrated by Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale
Enide (Welsh: Enid) is a character in Arthurian romance. She is the wife of Erec in Chrétien de Troyes' Erec and Enide, and the wife of Geraint in the Welsh romance of Geraint and Enid analogous to Chrétien's version. Some scholars believe the French and Welsh tales derive from a lost common source, but it seems more likely Geraint derives directly or indirectly from Erec, though Chrétien may have had a Welsh or Breton source.
In the common story, Enide and her lover meet while the hero is on a mission to defeat a cruel knight, and her family provides him with armor and food. They fall in love and marry, but the hero begins to forsake his social and chivalric duties for domestic bliss. Rumors spread, and Enide blames herself. One night, her husband overhears her crying about damaging his reputation.
In Chrétien's version, Erec begins to question Enide's love, but in Geraint the protagonist misunderstands her sobs and thinks she has been unfaithful to him. In both romances, the hero makes her accompany him on a long and dangerous trip, and forbids her to talk to him. Enide ignores this command several times to warn her husband of impending danger. Over the course of the trip, Erec/Geraint proves his abilities as a knight have not faded and accepts that Enide's love and loyalty are genuine, and the couple is reconciled.
In Geraint and Enid, Enid's father is Yniol, an earl who was ousted from his earldom by his nephew Yder, the "Knight of the Sparrow-Hawk". Yder is compelled to restore his land when bested by Geraint.
This tale was not retold in many variants. In Alfred, Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King, the hero is named Geraint, and Tennyson conforms to that version of the tale.
