We Might Be Stupid

Pairing: Yeo Hwanwoong x reader

Summary: Your best friend apparently thinks it’s the nineties. You call him to straighten things out.

Author Notes: this is my first work for the Oneus Trope Bingo hosted by @oneusficevents! I’m using it for my “mutual pining” square. A little nervous about it but it was loads of fun to write, so I hope Oneusblr can enjoy it <3

It isn’t quite acceptable barging hours when you barge into your roommate’s bedroom that morning.

“I—huh?” Your roommate mumbles, startling awake at the sound of the door.

“I need to borrow your phone,” you say, pulse racing. “Please. Since mine isn’t being fixed until this afternoon.”

Your roommate frowns, eyes still closed. “What?”

“Please. It’s important. Please. I need to make a call.”

Your roommate’s eyes blink halfway open and gaze at you, only half-conscious. Your desperation must really show on your face, because they say, “Sure. Uh, you okay?”

“I don’t know,” you breathe, unplugging the phone from the charger and tapping in their passcode. “Probably. I don’t know. Thank you. Be right back.”

You find the phone app and dial the memorized number, putting it to your ear. You glance back at your roommate’s alarm clock as you take your leave and try idly to do a calculation of what time it is abroad, deducing that he won’t be asleep and he also won’t still be working. Pick up, pick up, pick up pick up pick up pickuppickuppick-

The ring tone cuts off early and the line clicks on. “Uh…hello?”

Something about hearing Hwanwoong’s voice soothes the sting of the panic in your heartbeat, even as your pulse continues racing. “You. You sent—you and your—an email?”

“Oh,” you hear him say brightly, recognition in his voice, and then, flustered, “uh—hi. I, uh, I can expl—”

“An email?!”

“I panicked!” Hwanwoong blurts. “You—your phone, it’s broken, I can’t text—can’t call either, how are you even calling me by the way, whose phone is—I didn’t know how else to—”

“Is this 1999?” You ask him, incredulous, pacing, and you can’t help a flutter of laughter. “You tell me you have feelings for me in an email?! I’m checking my email to make sure my stupid philosophy paper was turned in on time and I see you sent me something with the subject ‘Help’ and then a confession?! That could have sat there for who knows how long—”

“I only sent it, like, eight hours ago,” he protests, then splutters, “n-no, really, your phone is broken. How did you get my number?”

“Yeo Hwanwoong,” you sigh in exasperation, “I have had your phone number memorized since we were fifteen.”

“…Oh,” he says, then laughs. “God, I love you.”

“Yeah!” You exclaim, stomach fluttering with something giddy at the words. “And you said it in an email, like this is a Tom Hanks movie or something!”

“I’m—listen!” He defends, “it hit me out of literally nowhere, hard, like, think hit-on-the-head-with-a-cinder-block hard, and it was overwhelming, like what the hell? What am I supposed to do with this? And I panicked and usually I just call you when I’m panicked and I would have but your phone—”

“My phone is broken, yeah,” you say, pulse finally winding down to adagio. Your deep breath is still shaky. “Well, I’m here now. Talk me through it.”

“Out of nowhere,” he says darkly. “Truly. I was just wondering what the hell you saw in that guy you’re talking to right now, anyway, the one you keep asking for advice on, and why he keeps bothering you all the time, and then I tried to be all, ‘well, what would I see in them if I was trying to date them’, and was like, ‘I mean, sure, they’re cute, anyone with eyes can see that, and sure they’re funny, but in the smart way which is even funnier, and also they’re thoughtful and also they’re a good listener, and and and’ and then it just hit me and, I mean! What the hell, dude? I don’t even know how long I’ve felt like this? Is this normal??”

“You get used to it after a little bit,” you tell him, head spinning. Hwanwoong just called you cute. “But yeah, it’s kinda overwhelming at first, right? And scary?”

“Terrifying, oh my god,” he groans. “Like, you’re my best friend, what the hell am I supposed to do now? What if you’ve noticed the whole time and have just been staying my friend to be nice, or something?”

“I didn’t notice,” you tell him, dragging your toe along one of the cracks in the floorboards, “or I didn’t want to get my hopes up, anyway. But you’re right, that’s the vibe, for sure.”

“And like, what if telling you is a bad idea? What if you’ll feel weird now about it, and we can’t hang out and make jokes and get bubble tea on weekends and—hey, wait. Got used to—get hopes up? I—WAIT.”

Your pulse jump-starts into high gear again. “Uhhh. Suddenly I have, um, things to do—”

“Don’t you dare hang up!” Hwanwoong exclaims. “Yah! I’ll call you again! Or whoever’s phone this is—it’s your roommate’s, right? Your roommate will get sick of me! Don’t you dare! You—I—what do y—how do you know how this feels?”

“Um.” Your heart is going to ricochet out of your ribcage. “I…maybe this is, uh, not new? For me to feel?”

Hwanwoong is quiet for a second, then, “About who?”

“Dude, don’t make me say it,” you groan. “It’s already embarrassing enough to talk with you about—”

“Is it that guy? The one you’ve been talking to? Because if it is, he’s kind of an idiot and he doesn’t appreciate your sense of humor nearly enough but like, I can take it, I’ll support you and the mediocre boy, it’s okay if—”

“You! It’s you! You dumbass!�� You cut him off, shrill. “You’re the idiot! God! You are absolutely unbelievable! I am hanging up the phone!”

“No, please! Pleasepleasepleasepl—”

“Unbelievable,” you mutter, slumping down onto your bed. “I’m not hanging up, you can calm down.”

Hwanwoong sighs, sounding winded. “What are…why are we like this.”

“Beats me,” you mumble.

“You…have feelings for me?”

His voice is gilded with hope. You want to melt into the bed and die. “I…yeah.”

Hwanwoong sighs again, shakily, but you can hear him smiling. “How…when did you figure your side out?”

You close your eyes and pinch the bridge of your nose, embarrassment prickling under your skin. “….like, two years ago.”

There’s a long, excruciating silence on his end.

Panic bubbles up in your throat. “But like, in my defense, that was the year you suddenly were, like….a man? I-I mean, something…happened, because suddenly you weren’t just a kid my age, you were, like, attractive. Which, like, how dare you, by the way? You were supposed to be my cute little bestie forever, but nooo, you had me helping you post thirst traps, and shopping for clothes you looked hot in, and like, what was I supposed to do? So yeah, I thought I was being painfully obvious and that you were just being kind. But no, you’re just an idiot, but like, I guess I was too—”

“I love you so bad,” Hwanwoong interrupts. “You were in….dude, since two years ago?”

“If you think you get to make fun of how long I’ve loved you when you sent me an email—”

“I’m not making fun of you, I’m, like, pissed,” Hwanwoong says, but he’s laughing. “Like, doing the math, connecting the dots, it’s…yeah, I think I’ve felt like this about you since then, too, which is dumb as hell. All that time, and we could’ve…”

“Ugh,” you say, emphatic, dropping your head back against the bed and glaring at the ceiling. All that pining for nothing.

“We…might be stupid,” Hwanwoong says, still snickering.

Hwanwoong is in love with you. Holy shit. You can’t stop grinning. “You, uh. Wow.” You turn over on your side and grab your laptop, which you’d left open to his email on your bed when you rushed to call him. You begin reading aloud. “‘So in the weirdest turn of events I didn’t see coming, I think I may be, like, really in love with you somehow’. You don’t say. You simp for me that bad, huh.”

“I—you—I don’t—” Hwanwoong starts, then sighs.

You laugh.

“Wait, wait, oh my god, is this why I caught you checking me out all the time?” Hwanwoong asks.

Now it’s your turn to splutter. “I—I didn’t—I wasn’t checking y…uh. Well. Maybe.”

Hwanwoong snickers. “Busted.”

You sigh. “How much longer are you away again? Semester’s almost over. It’s been, like, eighty-four years.”

“Um, lemme check,” he says, pausing for a few moments, and you can picture him lifting his phone from his ear and tapping over to his calendar. “….ugh. Another week and a half.”

“Ugh,” you agree. “Too long. You need to come home so I can go full Spanish Inquisition on you about this.”

“Same,” he says. “When are you getting your phone fixed? It’s been killing me this week not to talk to you like normal.”

“The appointment’s today,” you reassure him. “Should hopefully be back to normal by the time you wake up tomorrow.”

“Thank god,” he groans. “Never drop your phone in the washing machine again, dumbass. I have too many important things to say.”

“You’re always welcome to say them over email now, if you want,” you say, smirking, and Hwanwoong grumbles playfully while you laugh.

“Hey.”

Your roommate is in the doorway, looking freshly showered. “I’m leaving soon, I’m gonna need that back.”

You pout but nod. “I gotta go, ‘Woong, roomie needs the phone back.”

“Yeah, I should probably go to bed soon, anyway,” he says, then pauses. “I, um….”

You don’t prompt him, glad that he sounds as shy as you feel.

“…thanks. For not, you know, freaking out. Well, actually, you did freak out, but, like, not in the bad and annoying way.”

“Thanks a lot,” you groan, and he laughs again, the sound soft in a way that sits comfortably in your heart.

“I….I really do. Love you, that is. God, this is awkward.”

You’re grinning ear to ear. “Yeah, it is. It’ll get better with practice, I bet.”

You pause, then add, “I love you, too. Dumbass.”

“Gross,” your roommate says from the doorway, and apparently Hwanwoong can hear them, because he laughs at that, too, and the sound is so joyous. You miss him a lot, miss seeing how his eyes crinkle when he’s happy. You can’t wait for him to get home from abroad.

“I’ll text you when my phone gets fixed, okay?”

“I’ll be waiting. Tick tock.”

You smile.

“Love you,” he says again, and the way he says it makes warmth zip through you.

“Love you,” you breathe, meaning it, then hang up before you get too embarrassed.

Your roommate is smirking when you hand the phone back. “I’m glad my phone could help you two idiots finally figure it out.”

“Shut up,” you mumble, shoving their arm playfully before going to make coffee. A week and a half. How are you going to survive that long?

I know I am months early, but I want to start now because I’ve been working slow lately and I want to post something for each day while also making the fics a decent size as well. So here is the list, plus prompts I’ve chosen (a wheel picker chose randomly) for everyone I’m currently writing for. I gave each of them 2 prompts to make it extra challenging for myself and there are a few that seem like it will challenge me. Which I will start either this weekend or next week when I am feeling better.

TIME (ONEUS FANTASY AU)

Amber's POV

I closed the door and looked down to my watch to see that it is already 8:30 AM. The coffee shop I am working at is a 25-minute walking distance from my apartment. I quickly rushed down the stairs and exited the place. My shift starts at 9 AM and ends at 5:30 PM. The shop isn't that big nor too small and the salary is just enough to pay the bills and to keep some on the bank.

I glanced at my watch and it reads 8:50, looks like I'm a bit early today. The only thing left to do is to cross the street. I am waiting for the walk signal to flash the go signal when I felt someone bumped into me and pushed me to the pedestrian crossing. I looked to my back to see that the person is hurrying, maybe late for work but as soon as I looked to my side I met a blinding light before it faded into darkness.

I opened my eyes and a white room welcomed my sight. Where am I? I sat up and saw my brother sitting on the couch with his head held down. Did I fell asleep? What happened? I can't really remember what happened a while ago. My eyes searched for a clock and it says 4:50 PM. Was I asleep for too long? Beside my bed is an ECG monitor meaning I'm on a hospital.

"You're awake! Thank goodness, I was really worried!" My brother walked up to me.

"Why am I here? What happened?" I asked.

"You were involved in a car accident this morning. I was really worried when the doctor called me and told me what had happened. How are you feeling now?"

"I think I'm okay, except my whole body hurts."

"Do you want to eat anything?"

"I'm not hungry."

"Here, have water instead." My brother handled me the water before continuing, "I'll go talk to the doctor so you can now go home, just wait here."

"Sure."

— (timeskip) —

"Amber! Amber!" "Amber!"

I hear a faint voice calling for me. But I can't tell if it belongs to a girl or a boy. Curiously, I followed the voice only to see nothing but darkness, not until I heard the voice again.

"AMBER!"

My eyes shot open and I sat up from my bed. What was that? Such a weird dream. My eyes caught a golden hourglass on the table which seems to emit light. I rubbed my eyes to see if it is just an imagination but it isn't. I stood up and went over to it.

I examined the hourglass carefully looking at its intricate and beatiful design. The sand inside are of into mixed different colors: silver, pink and sky blue. It was extremely beautiful and breathtaking to look at.

"Did my brother put this here? Was it a gift from him? Hmm.."

I looked up to my clock and it struck 11:11 PM. Time to go to bed again. I took a step towards my bed but I felt a strong wind blowing against my back. I turn around and saw the hourglass emitting blue light and floating from the table, it is flipping fast for several times that I can't count how many flips it did anymore. Streaks of light are coming from the floor and when I looked down, I saw a hole gradually getting bigger and bigger.

"What the hell?! What is happening?!"

The hole became very big and the hourglass is flipping crazily while the wind below is blowing harshly. I was about scream help until I fell to the white hole.

"AAAAAAAAAAH!"

Tana is a top tier writer who’s a little under appreciated on tumblr. Writes for so many bands and also has an anime side account. She writes more like Stephen King or Anne Rice and maybe that’s why people are sleeping on her. She could literally leave this gig at any moment and become a professional!

Hide & Seek (Hwanwoong x Reader) ~ Yandere is her expertise and this one is my personal favourite. I know that people really love her Taehyung Ring fic but this one is so intense and the world she built for this was beautiful.

An All Night Affair (Bangchan x Reader) ~ Smut. Race car driver Christopher. Need I say more? Literally every smut piece she does is pure gold but this is pick. It’s so erotic. I mean wow. I can just imagine myself there and .. blushing.

Hwanwoong winced at the sound as he stepped into the living room, locking the door behind him. Looking over at the couch, a smile spread across his face as he saw you laying there, asleep. No matter how many times he had texted you to not stay up to wait for him, it seems like you never listened. Kneeling beside the couch, he admired your pretty features, guilt filling him up inside. He knew how excited you were for his birthday, how you constantly bugged him for weeks about what he wanted as a present and talked excitedly about a birthday party. But with Oneus’ recent comeback and promotions, it was impossible for Hwanwoong to spend the special day with you, or even spend time with you in general. You were understanding about it, and told him that you would prepare dinner to celebrate instead, but Hwanwoong still felt bad.

“If you keep staring at me like that, I will punch you, Yeo Hwanwoong,” you said sleepily, startling your boyfriend. Sitting up and rubbing your eyes, you gave him a tired smile and cupped his face with your hands. “I know what you’re thinking right now, and I’m going to say it again - it’s ok if you can’t take the day off for your birthday, I know what I was getting into when I started dating you. Don’t ever feel bad for not spending enough time with me, or not being able to take me out on dates because of your schedule. I understand.”

“But you were so excited for my birthday, and I couldn’t spend the day with you because of promotions,” Hwanwoong took your hands off his cheeks and held them together in his hands. “I felt so guilty because you wanted a party and I couldn’t even make it in time for dinner. You didn’t have to stay up for me, you know, you have work tomorrow and you look exhausted-”

“What time is it?” You took your hands away from your boyfriend’s and scrambled for your phone, almost falling off the couch as your legs got tangled in the pile of blankets.

Hwanwoong quickly caught you and placed you back on the couch, then sat besides you. He got his phone out to check. “It’s 11:53.”

“So we still have 7 minutes left for your birthday!” You jumped up and grabbed Hwanwoong’s hand, pulling him to the kitchen, “I can heat up the food, but you need to blow out the candles on your cake first, come ooon~”

As he let you drag him to the food, Hwanwoong shook his head at your sudden burst of energy, but couldn’t help smiling. He’s exhausted from performing, drenched in sweat and about to collapse, yet he kept going because of you, his sunshine. The one who gets him up and going again, who’s willing to spend the last few minutes of his birthday with him no matter how tired they are. And that’s what makes this birthday special. Not some huge party or fancy date, but just spending these last 7 minutes with you. I just suddenly got inspired out of nowhere wow, but I wanna do something for Woongie’s birthday today.

— I’ve recently seen gif creators not liking that writers use their gifs in their writings, so as of 2021 I will not be adding gifs, I will be adding self-made banners to it or requesting banners from atinyfantasytothemoon. — I use google translate and/or translation.babylon-software.com to translate sentences if needed, so If anything is wrong.. please don’t blame me, although as of September 2020, I no longer translate things and use italics if I want the person to talk in another language. — English is not my first language, neither is Italian, German or any other language besides Afrikaans, however, sometimes My English is better than my Afrikaans but Afrikaans is the language I speak at home with family.

— My blog does contain mature content, if you do not like the idea of reading smut/nsfw content, then my blog is not for you.

Q. I thought you said that you don’t write about depression/suicide?

A. I don’t write about suicide, I do however am comfortable enough to mention it in some fics, if I am comfortable enough to write it. I will add trigger warnings and a ‘keep reading’ link, I am not very comfortable with going into detailed depression, and any sort of mental illness.

Q. Do you write threesomes?

A. As of June 24 2021, I do.

Q. Why do you only write SFW for certain people and not NSFW?

A. I just don’t feel comfortable enough to write NSFW with certain people, I don’t write smuts for minors, anyone born after the 2000′s is a BIG no from me, and I won’t consider writing NSFW for anyone born after 2000.

Q. Why are you uncomfortable writing about pregnancies?

A. Because pregnancies make me uncomfortable, I’ve made the decision to never become pregnant, the topic makes me uncomfortable.

Q. Why are you uncomfortable writing about children?

A. Any kind of talk or topic about children makes me uncomfortable, as I don’t want children of my own, and I don’t understand the concept of cooing over a small human, but that is just me.

Description : Dongmyeong seemed to be hiding something from you and his brother.

Classes in the morning were relatively okay. Thankfully, the teachers were cheerful enough to make lessons much more bearable. Even so, you couldn't help but let your mind wander around a bit. This time, it was thinking about the note. The note that was stuck on your desk, anonymously.

The whole time, you were trying to figure out who it could be from and you were finally left with two conclusions— it was either Kang Hyungu from band club or Yeo Hwanwoong who's your next-door neighbour. The only two boys who had ever spoken more than a word to you throughout your few years in high school.

Dongju and Dongmyeong didn't count cause why would they even harbour any feelings for you, right?

All thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the school bell indicating that it was already lunchtime. As if on cue, you felt a low grumble coming from your stomach.

“Someone's a bit too hungry, huh”, Dongju smirked at you while placing a hand on your shoulder.

Shrugging his hand off, you gave him a playful look. “Wow, you read minds now?”, you questioned him sarcastically.

He faked a hurt look after hearing your blatant sarcasm and clutched his heart as if he was in pain. You had enough of his dramatic butt so you smacked his head hard before heading for the door to go to the cafeteria for lunch.

Not seeing Dongju's red fluff of hair following behind you, you stopped just before the door and spun around to find him. He was still at his desk with his hand around his twin's. It looked like they were in the middle of something.

“You go on ahead, Y/N”, he said before nodding his head in Dongmyeong's direction, “Mum packed us some homemade kimbap for lunch so we're just gonna eat in class”

Switching your gaze from Dongju to Dongmyeong, you just nodded in understanding. “It's okay, I'll find Hwanwoong and sit with him today”. With that being said, you continued on your way to the cafeteria leaving the twins behind.

Dongju's POV

He let out a half-smirk when he felt the hand he was holding tensed up at the mention of your neighbour's name. Dramatically turning his head around, he saw his twin's eyebrows twisted in plain confusion and suspicion.

“Dongju-ah, why did you tell Y/N that Mum made us some non-existent homemade kimbap for lunch?”

The fake redhead shaked his head as he chuckled at his brother's oblivious question.

“Dongmyeong-ie, is there something you're.. hiding from me?”, he asked Dongmyeong mischeviously.

“U-uh I wonder if they have curry tonkatsu today”, the older twin tried to walk around Dongju but unfortunately, the younger twin kept blocking his way. Dongmyeong let out an exasperated sigh.

“Not so fast, dear brother”

Dongju grabbed a hold of Dongmyeong's shirt collar and dragged him outside to an empty spot where there weren't that many students around. Once he was sure they were alone, he crossed his arms and leaned against a wall.

“So..?”

Dongmyeong stood nervously opposite his brother. He really didn't want to have this conversation with him. It was already hard enough for him to come to terms with it.

“So..what's your plan? Cause I want in”

The only sound that could be heard was Dongmyeong's jaw dropping to the floor. He stared at his brother in disbelief. How could he have known about-

“-Y/N? Dongmyeong-ie, I've known you since we were in a womb together”, Dongju lazily grinned at his brother.

“You crushing over Y/N is obvious, even Mum knows about it”

That comment shocked Dongmyeong. His mother knew about it? Was he that obvious?

“The way you act around Y/N is super adorable, I started shipping the two of you secretly”, Dongju puckered his lips while squeezing Dongmyeong's dimpled cheeks.

“Hmm should I go tell Y/N about your teeny weeny crush?”, Dongju tapped his finger on his chin as if in deep thought.

When he was about to turn his heels towards the cafeteria, Dongmyeong immediately wrapped his arms tightly around Dongju.

“Dongju-aaah, p-please don't..Y/N doesn't even like me like that”, Dongmyeong tried to make up an excuse as Dongju tried to escape his hold.

Whoever passed by and saw the two, would probably think that they were two cats fighting each other.

Finally after much struggle, Dongju gave up. “Okay okay, I won't tell”, he raised both hands in the air. Dongmyeong eventually let go and heaved out a sigh. His face was full-on blushing.

Looking around the halls, he scooted closer to Dongju and whispered desperately, “You have to promise me”

“I promise”

However, Dongju wasn't going to leave it as it was. His sincere smile suddenly twisted into a sinister smirk.

“But that doesn't mean I can't help you and Y/N get together”, Dongju purred playfully at his twin.

“You would do that for me?”, Dongmyeong's gentle voice was filled with hope.

“Yeah why not? You're my brother after all and I want you to be happy”, Dongju nudged his shoulder lightly on Dongmyeong's.

Ending the interrogation, Dongju placed his arm around Dongmyeong's and slowly marched towards the vending machine for lunch, dragging his brother along.

“By the way, Dongmyeong-ie..”

“Don't you think pick-up lines are bit too cheesy?”

Beside him, Dongmyeong groaned and covered his face with his palms. His ears slowly turning a light shade red again. Dongju was talking about the compliment he scribbled on the anonymous note.

“Please don't ever remind me I did that”
