My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final In Vino Veritas book! And I'm sad all over again that this series is once again done. But hey, maybe it won't be? I'm just send that wish out there and see what happens. Chase and Bowen's story was the perfect one to end the series with! So good! We've seen a bit of both of them in the last few books and now we get to see what happens when the two meet. Chase has never fully been out of the closet. His two closest friends know and he's had plenty of one night stands but his family, well he tried to tell them and it didn't exactly work out. His father insists it was a phase and reminds Chase that if he wants to receive his trust fund on his 28th birthday then he knows what that means. Chase doesn't care really care about money in that he wants to be rich so he can buy and do whatever he wants. He actually has real plans for the money to not only let him go back to school and get a degree he is passionate about, but he can use it to put to action some plans he has to really help his community. And with him being six months away from it, surely, he can keep his head down a little longer. Well, that is, until he meets Bowen. Bowen who saved their band when the drummer bailed at V&V and Bowen stepped in. Bowen who changes the rules Chase worked hard to keep for himself. Being with Bowen makes him want to risk it all. All Bowen wants is to support his siblings, whether it is on the farm or while his brother runs for mayor. Then he gets a chance to play music again and the sparks between him and Chase fly. However, he learns that Chase can't exactly advertise being in a relationship and immediately that brings back bad memories for Bowen. Does he really want history to repeat itself? But something is different with Chase and Bowen realizes that letting him go may be the worst mistake. I adored these two. I loved their chemistry and how their story built. They are both such great characters and you just want to cheer them on! You don't want to miss this final book in this series! It's been so fun to dive back into this world and see familiar characters while getting brand new ones.

tony sets the temperature in their bedroom to be warmer when they get into bed because he doesn't want steve to fall asleep feeling cold and cooler when they wake up because steve turns into a furnace while he sleeps, and steve doesn't know until he spends the night away on a mission and he's like why am i so uncomfortable

#i feel like in the movies the avengers don't really take care of each other in touchy feely mushy ways but they do keep an eye on each other #in my mind sometimes they're subtle and to the point about it and sometimes they're clumsy in the way they do it #like they don't want steve to be cold knowing what he went through #so they consider hand warmers and sticky heating pads to be part of his mission equipment #and put his soup in a north pole grade thermos and tony makes sure his uniform can keep him warm when they go somewhere cold #and steve is really fine he doesn't run that much colder than the average person but he loves the way they love #and it's true the hand warmers and hot soup are nice 😊 he learns that the world doesn't come down on him if he lets himself be cosy #stony #stevetony #* #st♡ny #text

Riley ran away from Vermont years ago on the most painful day of his life. He never expected to go back there. Nor did he expect to see Peter, his first love and probably the only one he ever truly loved. But when his grandfather needs his help, he can't say no. So he returns home to Meadow Parks, the closed small amusement park that has been in his family for generations and where he fell in love with Peter. His grandfather is in worse shape than he thought and not only that, but his grandfather admits to Riley that he buried the money he won in the lotto years ago and doesn't remember where it is. And when Riley sees Peter in town, he knows that Peter is the only one who can help him find the money. Peter isn't ready to see Riley again. Not after that awful day and the unanswered phone calls to Riley. But seeing Riley again, brings him back to those summers. And all his anger disappears the moment he sees him. And when Riley needs his help... well he can't say no. Together, they'll attempt this impossible treasure hunt and perhaps finally get the answers and closure they both desperately need. And perhaps realize that the love they shared isn't truly gone. Loved Riley and Peter! We met Peter in an earlier book where he had just come home and was figuring himself out. It was super nice to see him get his own story now. Riley and Peter's love story was just so good. The two of loved one another for so long and despite their separation, their love is still there and they have a chance to find their way back to one another again. Great story! And I'm on to the next and final book of this series!

Why did the vhimeras leave Mirum?

I gotta do a LOOONG post for that but the gist is. There was a pretty big civil war in Mirum over the chimeras assumed superiority. Post Godfall and post isolationism, chimera got pretty powerful and influential in the world with their retention of casting abilities. They heavily developed Mirum via magics and did some kinda egregious sophont? rights violations before being turned on by the other residents and expelled. Dude to their inability to really replenish their population as well as deep ideological schisms within their ranks they weren't able to come together to hold their lands and had to abandon Mirum.

Partially why most chimera clans are very pacifistic nowadays is because the more aggressive clans were killed off in the war.

you know what’s really satisfying to think of. jim having the freedom to set boundaries with tom and say no to him.

i know jim is just way too patient with tom throughout all the books, and i get why. i know jim is conditioned to think tom just knows better than him, he’s just a little boy and yet, because he’s white, tom must know everything, he must know better than him because he’s more educated. even if jim argues back with tom sometimes, in the end his concerns are always silenced. (edit: not to mention, besides all of this he has an entirely too soft spot for tom, which is more than he deserves. jim’s heart is just too big)

but once jim is reunited with his wife and children again, he would not let tom’s dangerous (especially dangerous for him) plans come an inch near his family!!!!
