[“Fixing a Hole” is] a very simply constructed song, built around a harpsichord and a bass guitar. Even before we got into the studio, Paul wanted to use a harpsichord as the mainstay of his rhythm; even so, the bass line is more important than the harpsichord line. Paul had to play bass guitar on it, because nobody could (or can) play that instrument quite like him. That meant somebody else was going to have to play keyboards. This was unusual, because Paul always liked to play his own keyboards on his own compositions. The part of honorary stand-in keyboard player to the greatest group in the world was offered to me. It wasn’t too difficult, and it didn’t seem likely to tax my non-virtuoso technique too much. Paul let rip with a superb and melodic bass line—something that was rapidly becoming his style. He used the instrument like a voice: he was never content to just use the dominant and tonic—the normal plodding sequences of a bass—as many others did. He wanted to make that bass sing. Whenever he had something to say, he said it most eloquently using the instrument he loved the best. […] Of all the Beatles, Paul was the most talented musician. When I first met him he could not play the piano at all. It was a very short time indeed from then to ‘Lady Madonna’, which is a very complicated and extremely good piano track played entirely by Paul, and a measure of his musicianship. Paul could play the drums, technically, better than any of the others, including Ringo (although he could never get anything like the distinctive sound Ringo got from his kit). So, by default, Paul took over the most difficult instrument to play with any originality in a rock ’n’ roll band: the bass guitar.

February 1967; photo by Henry Grossman. “George always had a very pragmatic streak. He never let the so-called glamour of show-business seduce him. He always saw through phoney people very quickly. He was the practical one, the one who could mend the amplifier or change the fuse. And he is one of the most generous people I know. If you were a friend of George in need, he would reach into his pocket and give you his last penny. Equally, if it were a matter of principle, he would defend you to the last. If ever I were in trouble, George Harrison is the kind of person I would like to be able to turn to.” - George Martin, With A Little Help From My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper (1994) “There was a time in the Nineties when Dad was very sick. He was confined to bed and things were fairly touch and go for a while. George [Harrison] was wonderful, simply wonderful; he came over to visit and brought Dad a Ganesh elephant symbol, telling him it would keep him safe and well. He was such a comfort to the whole family during a difficult time. He was a very keen gardener, the grounds of his home were just beautiful, still are, and he helped Mum a lot with our garden. He would drive over to see us with as many plants as he could fit on to the passenger seat of a McLaren F1! He meant a great deal to my dad; to all of us.” - Giles Martin, Express, May 27, 2012 “I spoke to George Martin recently, and he was talking about all the ‘20 years ago today’ stuff and The Beatles CDs, and he said, 'Never mind, George. It’ll soon be gone and we can go back into our shells.’” - George Harrison, The Observer Magazine, 1987 Q: “George Martin recently admitted he still felt embarrassed about not giving you more attention in the studio. He claimed he’d been ‘beastly to George.’” George Harrison: “He wasn’t beastly to me, but he spoke to me recently and said his only regret was that he didn’t realize sooner what I was. He already had enough to deal with, I suppose, with this band The Beatles who already had two guys out there writing and singing. He didn’t really need to try because in those days most groups had their songs written for them. It was all quite new. But only this summer he said to me, Will you ever forgive me, George? (Laughs) He’s such a gentleman! It was nice of him to say that, you know.” - Q, 1988
“I said to the boys, after we’d done a few takes of rather nondescript songs, I said, ‘Come into the control room and have a listen and see what we’ve been doing. And if there’s anything you don’t like, tell us.’ And George was the one who took the leap. And he said, ‘Well, I don’t like your tie for a start.’ And the others were horrified. They thought, God, he’s blown it. But of course, I fell around laughing. I thought it was — it was so cheeky, and so funny that I… you know, he endeared himself to me.” - George Martin, Living In The Material World (x)

Another thing making Sgt. Pepper the best lyrical album: the sheer perfection that is With a Little Help from my Friends. “What do you see when you turn off the light? I can’t tell you but I know it’s mine.” UNTOUCHABLE
Period!!!

So, Day 24 of Unitober calls for a Unikitty OC, huh?
I’ve got plenty of that up my sleeve!
Tumblr media
Here, you see all of my, um… “main” OCs, plus some guys I haven’t introduced on my Big Bright World side blog yet. They’re all happily doing what they love.
These guys mean so much to me, and they’ve been with me for a long time. Some of them have gone through BIG changes over the years. Others haven’t changed all that much.
A few of them are influenced by characters from Minecraft Story Mode (a game series that’s also very near and dear to my heart) because I was hyperfixating on it before Unikitty premiered.
Germafrost was actually my first Unikitty OC. I created him before the show officially premiered. I think he was my first because in late 2017, it snowed in Louisiana for the first time in, like, 12 years or so. (Yeah, it doesn’t snow down here. We went outside to play in it, but then we caught the flu.) He and his family have gone through HUGE changes that are too long to describe here. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see his little brother, Neapolitan.
When I started writing Broken and Frozen, Swanna, Lee, Val, Ribbon and Sgt. Wolf were created. I took inspiration from Jack, Nurm, StacyPlays, Stampy Cat and Stella from MC:SM respectively.
Swanna was, you know, designed to be this brave adventurer, and Lee was her closest friend. I decided to give Swanna a taste in fashion not too long ago because I wanted her to be this stylish, graceful, elegant type of adventurer. I’ve always considered her to become an official part of the gang after the events of B&F. Dr. Fox is Unikitty’s resident scientist, Hawkodile is her bodyguard, Richard is her royal advisor, and Puppycorn is her charming little bro. Swanna will be Unikitty’s tourism agent.
Sgt. Wolf’s knight troop originally started out as an army with their own military base, but I felt a LOT better making them a knight brigade instead.
Val and Ribbon were inspired by this one scene in the first episode of MC:SM Season 2, where Stampy Cat and StacyPlays (yes, them! did I stutter?) are selling sweets for Founding Day. They get in a debate of cake vs. pumpkin pie, and you as Jesse can help them decide which to pick. Val and Ribbon did something similar to this in B&F, where they sold ice cream or sherbet for Unikitty’s summer festival. Recently, because I thought it was too similar to that part of MC:SM, I changed it so that Ribbon and Val run a gift box shop. I mean, they themselves are a sibling pair of gift boxes, so…
In March of 2018, I created Pepper. In my very first idea for her, her name was Batty, but there’s already a Unikingdom citizen with that name. Pepper is my persona for Unikitty, meaning that she’s the OC who represents me. I’d seen somebody on DeviantArt make a persona for themself, so I was inspired to make one of my own. Pepper’s real name used to be Jackie, but I changed it to Jessica later on. Her nickname comes from the character in Annie.
I don’t remember exactly when I created Imogen or Piano, but it was sometime in 2018. Imogen was going to be a Doom Lord named Master Daze, whose job was to spread confusion. But, I then decided that Master Frown and Brock needed a friend. Imogen’s twin sister, Estelle (the girl in the sailboat), was originally named Sarah. Eventually, I made Master Cupid. And the reason her name is Master Cupid is because “Master Amatonormativity” is a mouthful and too long of a name. (That was a joke.)
Piano is named after the Sanrio character (in memory of my Sanrio obsession in first grade), and she was going to be from a kingdom that my friend created. But, she’s part ice cream, so it would make more sense if she were from Ice Cream Land. I’d planned for Germafrost to hire her as his advisor, but in current canon, she’s been serving his family for a long time.
Kira was created in July 2018. She and the other fairies were going to live in Ice Cream Land, but I decided it would be a better idea if they lived in Botania instead. (Botania and Marevi parallel each other. They both value the life that exists in the world. One place is on land, and the other is under the sea. They’re strong allies, too. So, it would make sense for Kira and the fairies to parallel the mermaids in Marevi.)
Pheasala (the pheasant/salamander hybrid shouting into the megaphone) was inspired by one of my closest internet friends. Her name was at first Mishi and then Misyanta. I eventually decided to base her name on what she is, like some characters in the show. I forgot when I first made her, but I do remember that Dusty (the horse examining a fossil) was made in August of 2018. She was Dr. Fox’s best friend in school, but now, she’s just some girl that Dr. Fox and Dr. Bunny knew in their classes.
In late 2018, Maya (the flower girl doing math), Annie (the squirrel doing volunteer work) and Ringo (the tap-dancing lemur) were created. I made them up as, like, a friend group for Puppycorn ‘cause I was inspired by Rock Friend. These days, they’re kids that Pepper hangs around. Annie was gonna love cooking, but I later gave that passion to Cream. So, what she loves doing is helping others and solving problems. She’s also named after the protagonist of Annie.
In January 2019, my favorite Unikitty OCs I’ve ever made, the Seagang, were created. Cream wasn’t gonna be a part of their group, but I didn’t want him to feel left out. In past versions, he looked like a realistic seahorse.
Spike had this whole thing of him being a half-kraken demon, but that backstory basically made him a male version of Raven from Teen Titans. (In his earliest version, he was.) Plus, him being part sea urchin fits his name better. He’s always had a talent for singing his entire time in existence.
Marcella, or Butterpearl, had this phase where she was gonna be Brazilian-coded, but she’s not. Her real name also wasn’t gonna be Marcella. Also, Marevi wasn’t originally called Marevi, and I don’t want to talk about what it used to be.
Iris and Lotus are here to represent all of the Petalstones. All of them except for Marigold were created in, like, April of 2019. Marigold was created about a month or two later.
Trey was also made sometime in 2019, and he’s inspired by an old friend of mine. He was gonna be an alien named Drei before I changed him into an elf named Trey.
Snowfox, the arctic fox in the mask going on a nature walk at the bottom, is a collaboration between me and my Wattpad friend. She, too, dates back to 2019.
And there you have it, folks- the evolution of my Unikitty OCs! There were some other characters who I tried to make, but they eventually were deleted because they weren’t working for me. But I don’t think I’m ever gonna get rid of the guys you saw above. I love them all so much. ❤️
Just to remind you- they only exist in the Big Bright World AU (because there’s so many of them, lol).

Do people have head canons about concept albums?
Anyway, I've long heard people talk about how Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band isn't a complete concept album; that after the first two songs it doesn't pick its thread back up until the title track reprise. More recently, however, I've come around to the idea that, y'know, maybe it doesn't?
The Lonely Hearts Club Band are supposed to be an alter-ego for The Beatles, right? Well, to me, this has always been an album by Sgt. Pepper's called Beatles. Why did they pick that name? I'unno, but anyway, yeah, this is an album by Sgt. Pepper's, and these are all songs they'd write. It's kind of like Cruising With Ruben & The Jets, if you've heard that one.
And bringing up Zappa, I imagine that's why there are songs on here with crowd noises; those are live tracks mixed in with the studio tracks. Maybe even they're that ahead of their time and some of these songs are live tracks with overdubs like Zappa would do. Now, I don't know what number album this is that they're only now including their title song, but I'unno. Maybe it wasn't something they wrote until a while after they started, or maybe it's always strictly been a live concert intro that they never felt the need to include on an album until there'd been such a fan demand for it. Or, maybe, it flowed so well into "With A Little Help From My Friends" that they figured, "Ah, screw it."
Speaking of that, there's the discrepency of Billy Shears. If he's "the singer," why does he only sing one song? The way I see it, he's not a member of the band; he's a guest singer. Like, I'unno, Roy Harper on Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar". Could be something they wrote together and decided to let Shears sing. Hell, maybe "the singer" in the title track is adustiable for whoever sings the song after it—even if their last name doesn't rhyme with "years." Like, I'unno, the idea that Billy Shears has to be the lead singer... The only two things I see backing that up are the Yellow Submarine movie and the Sgt. Pepper's movie, and, like, I'unno. The Yellow Submarine movie had to come up with a lot of stuff outside of the song it was named after, so that could just be its own thing, for one, and that's not even bringing up the question of if we should treat the Frampton/Bee Gees movie as any sort of authority.
One last thing I wanna address, and this is something I thought up as I was typing this—the Beatles on the album cover. As in, the mop top Beatles, to the right. How's that explained? Uh, those could be Johnny & The Moondogs in this universe, I guess. And if we're following my logic, I suppose that would also make "Hello, Goodbye" a Sgt. Pepper's song since they wore the costumes for the music video, and the mop top four even make a cameo?
But, yeah, the point of this post is: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a band. Big surprise. A different one from The Beatles, anyway. And none of them are Barry Gibb.

Once, when I was feeling a bit down, John popped something into my hand. ‘Here you are, George,’ he said. ‘This’ll do you wonders.’ I looked down, and there was a little capsule in my hand, of the kind you might take for a cold or the flu. I kept it, and showed it to Norman Cowan, my doctor. ‘What is this, Norman?’ I asked. He stared down at it, aghast. ‘My God,’ he said in a panicky sort of way, ‘where did you get that? Don’t you dare take it. In fact, give it to me, now . . . !’ To this day I don’t know what it was. Maybe I missed something.

Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon at The Beatles' press conference in Baltimore, September 1964; photo by Paul Popper/Popperfoto/Getty Images.
“George wanted to join us because he knew more chords, a lot more than we knew. So we got a lot from him. Every time we learned a new chord, we’d write a song round it. We used to sag off school and go to George’s house for the afternoon. George looked even younger than Paul, and Paul looked about ten, with his baby face.” - John Lennon, The Beatles: The Authorized Biography (1968)
“I was very impressed by John. Probably more than Paul, or I showed it more. I loved John’s blue jeans and lilac shirt and sidies. But I suppose I was impressed by all the Art College crowd. John was very sarcastic, always trying to bring you down, but I either took no notice or gave him the same back, and it worked.” - George Harrison, The Beatles: The Authorized Biography (1968)
Selina Scott: “But he [John] said that you idolized him as a young boy, that you followed —" Harrison: “Well, that’s what he thought.” Scott: “You didn’t?” Harrison: “Well, I liked him very much, he was, he was a groove, he was a good lad. But at the same time, he misread me. He didn’t realize who I was. And this was one of the main faults of John and Paul. They were so busy being John and Paul, they failed to realize who else was around at the time.” - West 57th Street, 1987
“The electricity that crackled between Paul and John, and that led to such great music, rather left George out in the cold. He had only himself to collaborate with. If he needed help from the other two, they gave it, but often rather grudgingly. It was not so much that Lennon and McCartney did not believe in Harrison; more that their overwhelming belief in themselves left very little room for anything — or anybody — else.” - George Martin, With A Little Help From My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper (1994) (x)

There is *a lot* going on in George Martin’s With a Little Help From My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper (for one, he quotes from Lennon Remembers way more than you’d expect!), but he also included a mild criticism of Mark Lewisohn’s reading of Paul’s work all the way back in the early ‘90s:
“I’m sure Paul wrote ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ with his father in mind. Jim [McCartney] loved music-hall stuff, corny popular songs, the kind of thing Paul normally wouldn’t tolerate. Nevertheless, ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ was not a send-up but a kind of nostalgic, if ever-so-slightly satirical tribute to his dad.
Paul got around the lurking schmaltz factor by suggesting we use clarinets on the recording ‘in a classical way’...This classical treatment gave added bite to the song, a formality that pushed it firmly toward satire. Without that, the song could have been misinterpreted--it was very tongue-in-cheek. It is rather like, say, putting a Gerald Scarfe cartoon into a gilded frame, and hanging it in the National Gallery. The form brings you up short, makes you think more carefully about the content...
Most people think of ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ as a jokey song, a piece of tongue-in-cheek music-hall pastiche, which it is. Nor did the other Beatles take it seriously. The Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn describes it, accurately enough in so far as it goes, as ‘Paul’s vaudeville-style charmer.’
For my money, though, it has a little more to it than that...If you look at the lyrics you can see that underneath the jokiness they are saying, ‘Isn’t old age awful? Banality, tedium, nothingness, poverty, routine.’ It is Paul with his satirical tin hat on, a bit like, in film terms, Oh What a Lovely War. The bleak underlying vision is dressed up in this very gentle, rooty-tooty kind of charm...
When I heard ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ for the first time, I chuckled at the cleverness of the lyrics. They were so true. They reflected my own experience of family life, the  comfort and cosiness, so well...
The song, then, showed the other side of the Beatle coin on Pepper: it was not psychedelic, mystic, transcendental or any of those other things that have been leveled at the rest of  the album. It was an affectionate satire regarding old age from a young man’s point of view” (34-38).

hey guys! once i read a fanfic about the Sgt. Pepper launch party but i never found it again! so i just made my own version, based on what i remember from that other story and adding some things to the plot as well. if you wrote the original version, i'd love to read it again!
so here's my first paul mccartney x reader fic, hope you enjoy!
-----------
Abbey Road Studios, 9 am.
You and Paul have been seeing each other for quite a while now. You got along pretty well, but he never properly asked you to be his girlfriend. It never really bothered you, you don't really cared about labels. You knew he really like you and you liked him too, so what was to worry?
You worked near Abbey Road so sometimes you'd hang around the studio with Paul before the other guys came around, playing some tunes and enjoying each others company for a bit longer before you two had to work. They were working on their next album, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, finishing up some songs. Paul had been really tense lately, worried about the album and being really bossy with the guys.
Paul headed straight to the piano. You sat in front of him and grabbed his left handed guitar and started playing with him. The fact that you were left handed as well was a perfect excuse to play his beautiful guitars. You two started playing some little tunes and some improvisation as well. Some time later, the door opened and John came in dancing to the song you were playing.
"Oh, what a nice surprise!", he greeted you, "She can even play with you! Are you replacing me, McCartney? After all these years?", he said joking, sounding like he had just been cheated on.
"Mornin! You don't have to worry, he's all yours Johnny boy!" you laughed at him.
Paul blushed his cheeks and kept playing the piano, while John started tuning his own guitar. George and Ringo came right along.
"I guess we have a new guitarist!", George said jokingly, "Can I go home then?"
You laughed and smiled at the man. "Hey, Geo. Good morning!"
"Good morning, kiddo", said George giving you a kiss on the forehead.
"Good mornin, love", said Ringo as he pets your head kindly messing up your hair and making his way to his drum kit.
"Alright, fellas, I'll just grab some tea and we'll start recording ok? Tune up!", said Paul while leaving the recording room.
You stayed chatting with George and Ringo while John followed Paul out of the room.
"She's a really nice bird, y'know?", he said to Paul.
"Yeah, I really like her", said Paul while looking down to avoid eye contact with John.
"Oh yeah? So why are you being such a bastard? C'mon, man! Ask her hand!", John said teasingly. "Or else... You're gonna lose that girl..." He said jokingly and singing the lyrics to their own song.
John headed back to the recording room, leaving Paul alone with his thoughts. Maybe John was right, he was done messing around with all the girls, he just wanted to settle down. Better than that, he just wanted to settle down with you.
Paul made his way to the recording room and was surprised to not see you playing his guitar anymore.
While the boys chatted, John grabbed his guitar and started playing the chords to "You're Gonna Lose That Girl" in the background.
"Where's y/n?", he asked confused.
"She just left, she was late for work", said George while tuning his guitar.
"Maybe you can catch her if you run, I don't think she left the building yet", said Ringo.
"If you don't treat her right my friend you're gonna find her gone...", John sang laughing teasingly at Paul.
"Oh, fuck off!", he said and made his way to catch you before you left.
Paul ran as fast as he could when he saw your figure just crossing the front door.
"Y/n! Wait!", he ran to you and managed to grab your hand.
"Oh, hi Paul. I'm sorry I didn't kiss you goodbye, I lost track of time and turns out I'm really late", you said surprised that he came after you.
"Don't worry, love. I just wanted to ask if you'd like to come to our album launch party? As a date, I mean", Paul asked you. He didn't think he would be so nervous to ask such a simple question.
"Well, yes! I'd love to, really.", you grinned at him. "I was beginning to wonder when you would ask me out properly", you said teasingly.
Paul laughed. "I know, I've been so stressed lately that I end up not giving you the attention you deserve. I'm sorry. But hey, it's a date! A real date.", he said and gave you a peck on the lips.
"Ok Mr. McCharmly, I'll see you then! And I hope I don't lose my job because of you", you said laughing and made your way to work.
Paul headed back to the studio with a stupid grin on his face. He had it all planned out. The boys were warming up, playing some tunes in the recording room.
"Ok boys, no more joking around, let's record 'Getting Better', shall we?", he said to the boys. Deep down, he knew it was all getting better indeed.
--
Sgt. Pepper launch party, 8pm.
You came into Brian's house and was immediately greeted by George.
"Hi, Y/n! I'm glad you came", he hugged you, "Can I help you get something to drink?"
"Hey, Geo! Yes, please! I'm in real need of a drink tonight. Have you seen Paul?"
"I didn't see him yet. The man has been so crazy lately, how can you deal with him?, he said jokingly.
"I've got some tricks", you answered winking at him. He laughed.
"Good evenin fellas, how are you in this fine night?", John said in a heavy british accent and approached you two. "I see Mr. Bossy is not around." He wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
"I was just asking her how she can handle him like that", said George.
"A kink for dominance, I suppose", John joked. "He really misses you, y'know", John said in your ear.
"I know how moody he's been. I'll look around for him. Thanks, John".
You excused yourself and went looking for Paul. He was outside, a cigarette in his mouth.
"Need fire?", you asked him.
"Y/n! I'm so glad you came!" You could see the relief in his eyes. He hugged you tight.
God, he was tired. You could see he hadn't sleep well for days. You lit his cigarette for him.
"Thank you, ma'am", he said cordially, "So, what do you think?"
"Everyone loved the album, you know that? You can see how jealous Mick Jagger is of your made up band", you joked.
He laughed. Paul was really nervous about the reception the album would have from the public. It really was something new, a concept album, The Beatles not being The Beatles. Maybe an unconscious escape from himself.
The music was loud inside the house and it had just started playing "The Way You Looked Tonight" by Frank Sinatra.
"God, I love this song", you said and started humming along the melody.
"May you concede me this dance?", Paul asked for your hand.
"Yes, sir. But I don't really dance, so don't blame me if I step on your feet".
You took his hand and Paul embraced his arms around your waist, while you put yours arms around his neck and rested your head on his shoulder. He started signing the lyrics to you, right in your ear: "Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm. And your cheeks so soft... There is nothing for me but to love you and the way you look tonight".
His voice was calm, he really meant what he sang. You really looked stunning that night with your black dress that suited so well for your body. The moon was bright and made such a beautiful contrast with your eyes.
Paul spinned you around and lead you two to the corner. He pressed you on the wall and looked deeply into your eyes and then to your red lips. He kissed you tenderly, slowly, moving his hands down to your waist. He already knows this path really well, but everytime you're together he explores your body like it's the first time. He just never gets tired of touching every part of your curves. He'd been waiting for this moment for so long, he couldn't wait to be in your arms again. You broke the kiss and started to make a path of kisses to his neck. He was wearing a grey scarf that night.
"Excuse me, sir", you gently untied the knot on his scarf and sucked on the exposed skin of his neck. "So you'll see this mark and remember to call me tomorrow for a next official date."
He laughed to himself. He knew he would never forget that night, the way you looked and the way you danced. And the best was yet to come, you just didn't know yet. He looked deep into your eyes and whispered close to your ear:
"Marry me."

ponyboy’s coming of age headcannons🤍🤍
when he’s fourteen his favourite songs are my generation by the who and don’t think twice it’s alright by bob dylan
the gang tease the hell out of him for liking bob dylan
 they call him a hippie
this changes when he first hears led zeppelin on the radio in the late 60s, his soul literally ascends from his body when he hears robert plants voice for the first time
he shoots up in height at around fourteen and half
by 15 he’s taller than Soda
 Soda hates it lmao
 grows to be about 6′1
 is terrified of spiders
soda always gets rid of them for him
but soda will also chase ponyboy around the whole house with the spider
ponyboy once gave soda a black eye after he got a spider thrown on him
he says in was an accident but honestly didn’t feel guilty about it lmao
darry thought him how to drive
 sodapop came for ‘entertainment purposes’
ponyboy did eventually learn how to drive but it cost him almost losing his life
not from almost crashing or anything, just from darry almost strangling him out of frustration
also has a real dirty mouth
like cursing
he's the worst out of the whole gang for it
he is such a pretty boy and has most of Tulsa in love with him
he’s pretty dumb and doesn’t realise how good looking he is though
for example curly flirting with him for years before they got together
 disaster bisexual omfg
 lowkey a hopeless romantic too
will think nonstop about the boy who held the door open for him or the girl who served him in a restaurant lmaooo
HE’S A LITTLE SHIT AS WELL
 HIS SMARTMOUTH FUCK
imagine the sass of eric forman, harry potter and jess mariano all rolled into one
that’s ponyboy
everyone thinks he’s really nice but then he’ll hit someone with a roast that is so fuckin good that they will cry for the person who was insulted
its steve getting roasted most of the time
 he’s really really witty
becomes a lot more outspoken as he gets older
very talented at hot wiring cars
still hates fighting but has and will break anyone’s nose if he feels the need to
has his first kiss at 14 with a girl named betty
he dated her for a while
he dated a good few people in his teenage years
once he went skinny dipping with his then boyfriend and got caught by police and was brought home in a cop car
 darry hit the roof
steve claims the greatest moment of his life was ponyboy being led into the curtis house by a policeman soaking wet and half naked
never really fell madly in love with anyone he dated though
until his junior year when he suddenly couldn’t get curly shepard out his  head
 loves animals
darry wont let them get a pet but ponyboy feeds stray dogs and cats around tulsa
he has a name for every single one
he considers them his pets.
in 1967 he cuts school to listen to sgt pepper by the beatles
he figures its the greatest album ever made
but he’s really stubborn and won’t admit for months that he likes the beatles after all the shit talking he did about them.
he gets high for the first time with curly and they listen to the album again
 a stoner. 100%
he cuts back on smoking cigarettes but gets high all the fucking time
has a stash under his mattress for when darry or steve are really pissing him off
has a really good group of friends
they’re the same age as pony so it’s different to the curtis gang
he considers them brothers anyway so they don’t count
they get into a lot of shit together
soda thinks all the stuff they get up to is hilarious
 darry is tired
his best friend is a girl named juliet
 lesbian + bi duo
juliet has common sense, something which ponyboy lacks, so they work well together.
 they talk about girls together
juliet has a girlfriend named flo and they’re very much in love <3
ponyboy will third wheel them sometimes lmao
like he did with johnny and dal
him and curly finally start dating when ponyboy’s 16 going on 17
it surprises him how quickly he fell in love with curly
they’re both absolutely whipped for each other
darry and soda don’t really like curly but pony makes it clear they have to just put up with him
curly doesn’t exactly help, pissing darry and soda off seems to be his favourite pastime
they open up to each other about everything
pony tells curly all about windrixville
he thinks about johnny and dally a lot still
he still has johnny’s letter inside the gone with the wind
it’s really important to him, it comes with him to college.
speaking of which, he goes to columbia university in new york
 full scholarship bby
wasn’t going to go due to the fact it was so far from home, and he didn’t want to be that far from his family
darry found out and almost killed him
they had a talk about it though
it was sweet and it helped pony feel better about leaving tulsa
he also graduated from high school top of his class
sodapop bawled at his graduation and two-bit made a poster for him
he went to see his parents after his grad
he really did wish they had been there for it
curly didn’t see him graduate either which really hurt ponyboy
they had gotten into a big fight a week or so before
the reality of ponyboy leaving tulsa had been the elephant in the room for a while, but both of them were just avoiding it
eventually tensions rise and both of their emotions explode
they say things they regret and curly storms away from ponyboy
curly later gets hauled in for getting into a bar fight
 so he misses ponyboy’s graduation
ponyboy loves curly more than anything and he knows curly loves him just as much
but he also knows it won’t work
so he visits curly in jail
he keeps his emotions under control while he’s there like he always has had to do living on the east side
he tells curly that he’s leaving in a few weeks
curly, who has always been closed off about his emotions, pleads with ponyboy to stay through tears
ponyboy loves curly but he can’t stay in this town anymore
and curly can’t seem to bring himself to leave it
so they break up
he cries himself to sleep most nights after
sodapop helps him through it
he tries not to think about it though, making himself busy with packing and getting ready to leave for new york
he sees curly once more before he leaves
he’s out with his friends for the last time before he leaves when he sees curly, fresh out of jail, with some of the shepard gang
their eyes meet and they hold each others gaze for a few moments
ponyboy breaks it
he can’t quite find the strength to talk to curly
he finds himself wondering for months after what would have happened if he had just talked to curly that night
ponyboy can’t help but hope that curly will show up the day he’s meant to leave for college and everything will be okay again
he doesn’t
both of them are to stubborn for their own good
he leaves new york just after his 18th birthday
his brothers hug him tighter than ever and ponyboy almost changes his mind about leaving right there and then
sodapop, through his tears, swears that if ponyboy doesn’t call them everyday he’ll hunt him down in new york and kick his ass
steve wishes him well and looks almost misty eyed
ponyboy of course makes a smart comment about this which leads to steve rolling his eyes instead
not in a mean way though, almost sentimental, like he’ll actually miss ponyboy
he drives around the town one more time before he leaves taking in everything and the memories, good and bad, he associated with his home
it’s a bittersweet feeling to leave behind his childhood but ponyboy thinks he’s ready
he almost drives to curlys just to see him one last time
Almost.
