It was kind of hard to decide where to put the dot at because part of me is actually completely wild (wolf) and part of me is domestic (dog) but I feel like I lived in the woods, away from people which would be feral.

This is Strider! He’s a “wolf ambassador” from the nonprofit organization Apex Protection Project’s sanctuary in Acton, CA. He was rushed to the emergency room yesterday and is currently undergoing a plasma transfusion to stabilize him before he goes to another hospital for overnight care. Apex needs to raise $10,000 (a cost that is steadily rising!) to cover his medical needs.

Strider first came to Apex with a broken skull when his owner tried to kill him. He’s a beautiful and incredible example of perseverance and survival and a reminder of all that apex predators—and biodiversity in general—do for our planet! It’s up to us to help them! Top image is a Greenland Dog

Bottom image is an F1 Wolf x West Siberian Laika hybrid. The second photo is of who I believe to be the same animal from the laikirus (dot) ru database. Not the exact same image and no name or registration number in the book so not 100% sure but it sure looks similar. The laikirus animal, Ulka, was born to a wild taken siberian wolf named Naida, and a pure dog WSL. Ulka was bred to pure WSL males, and as far as i can tell so were the continuing offspring. I haven't been able to find where her line ends so far, for all I know there are living descendants of her now. She was born to the ВНИИОЗ (VHIIOZ, still haven't looked up what thats an abbreviation for) kennel as part of an experiment for the viability of WSL x Wolf hunting dogs.

I'm only able to roughly translate russian currently so *please* correct me if I make any errors on these!

saw this video and was immediately stunned, he definitely looks mid to high content to me but i figured i would ask you! also-- is it responsible to let wolfdogs interact with strangers like this? i only have my very lazy elderly dog (definitely not a wolfdog lol) and don't have much knowledge on the subject.

Hey there! Content wise, he’s probably on the higher end of mid content. High contents should be indistinguishable from actual wolves, and there is something about this guy that doesn’t scream “hey! I look like an actual wolf!” to me.

Whether it’s responsible to let wolfdogs interact with strangers probably depends on the animal. Just like with your everyday dog, if it seems to be reactive towards strangers, then maybe don’t go up to strangers like this. On the other hand, if the pup is friendly, then I’d say go for it. The only thing I’d be worried about is how some people could see this and think “well this pup is super nice and totally isn’t high maintenance at all right? Right????” And then end up getting one of their own. Usually in that case the person doesn’t do their research and it ends poorly for the pup.

Don’t get me wrong, wolfdogs have have done wonders in changing peoples views of wolves, so hopefully everything went well in this video!

One of my best friends, I took these pictures a few years before he passed away. I have worked with and formed bonds with quite a few wolfdogs but the connection I had with him that we formed over the years together holds a forever space in my wild soul. I miss him.

I volunteer at a shelter and work with wolves and wolfdogs so I'm not a professional or anything but seeing wolves get compared to dogs is funny cause people always assume that wolf's are just bigger and more aggressive dogs instead of realizing that they're a straight up different species

The dog in Somewhere That’s Green is a wolfdog that looks fairly similar to the aforementioned Wild Republic wolf. It's obviously not green, but Seymour got it temporarily dyed green with pet dye before gifting it to her upon the recommendation of the chorus girls.
