So happy with how these Imogen shots came out! I feel very pretty in this costume and wig but I definitely struggle with what to do with my face in photos. Neutral pretty is hard, chaotic gremlin is so much easier! 😅

Chest lightning is done with tattoo paper (specifically, Silhouette's clear tattoo paper), it's really cool bc you can just print whatever design you want on any inkjet printer! It can be a little shiny but looks great in photos, and I've gotten so many compliments in person, too.

I know it is a total nothingburger in the grand scheme of things but as a wig commissioner I am so absolutely tired of the state of shopping for wigs lately

Arda has stock issues so bad someone I know was on backorder for over 200 days, Epic is not worth supporting due to trash QC and extreme labor abuse, Five Wits has bad photography that makes them hard to recommend and are still primarily a source of character wigs, Coscraft is great and tbh I adore them but they won’t fit people at the uppermost end of the head spectrum that could easily wear Arda, Assist has ruinous shipping and runs small, Classe and Swallowtail and Airily and Cyperous all need shopping services, wigisfashion and Kasou have been having tons of shipping issues, ordering wigs from aliexpress or taobao is an absolute crapshoot unless you’re already familiar with the brand…..

it’s paradise compared with what I was dealing with in 2004 but that isn’t saying much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thor: the Dark World.

This shoot with MDQBriones was extremely important to me. The Dark world suit is one of my absolute favorite Thor suits, and this shoot really made me feel like we did it justice.

The base suit is by Simcosplay, with upgraded resin printed disks. Weathered and painted by myself and Reedspropsplus. The wig is by Wigisfashion and is styled by my wife.

Mjolnir is a king arts mjolnir, that came to me broken. I repaired and repainted it and am super happy with the result.

Batman Day was a success! I drank, I didn't get enough sleep last night, and I still managed to go to the Oddities Expo. 😂😭

This lil number was inspired by the Lady Marmalade video and I have to say I felt like a gay ostrich in this outfit. ✨

Costume:

1. Wig and Contacts: Wig is from wigisfashion and contacts are from Uniqso. The hair ties are from Lux.

2. Earrings and Necklace: Bought at a local swap meet.

3. Corset: Purchased from Amazon and I added all the rhinestones, trim, and ribbon.

4. Bustle: Bought three skirts at a second hand shop and sewed them together.

5. Gloves: Purchased from Amazon.

6. Shorts and Garter Belt: Shorts are from Spirit Halloween and I've had the garter belt for ages.

7. Tights and Shoes: Tights are from Amazon and the boots I've had for several years. I got them for my Suicide Squad Harley.

2023 is the year of dream cosplays, I guess ^^

I can write an entire thesis on my love for him, how important he is to me, and why he is the best fictional character of all time (fun fact: Sauron held the no.1 fave character spot for over 20 years until this guy's arc concluded, and then was bumped down to spot no. 2), but we'll be here forever, so instead I'm just going to say how incredibly grateful I will always be to Kishimoto for letting him go.

It's so rare for a character that occupies this kind of role in a narrative to be allowed growth and recovery for his own sake and on his own terms instead of just being killed off or punished, much less be permitted to also achieve his lifelong goals and dreams. His character journey is quite honestly one of the most inspirational and hopeful I've ever seen, and it came to its conclusion during a pretty difficult time in my life when I needed the motivational boost -- I was fully expecting redemption through death at best; I'm still shocked we got what we did -- so it holds a very special place in my heart ♡

if it's ok, can i ask about what patterns/materials you used for your lbh cosplay from a couple months ago? 👉👈

of course!!! i modified patterns from this [ hanfu pattern book ], which i think does a really good job of walking you through what you need to do.

it's got about 10 patterns, and there's also a bunch of variations and shortcut suggestions. i bought the book in metric units, but it also comes in imperial.

my pants, under robe (you can only see about an inch peeking thru at the collar when i'm not wearing my face mask), and my coat were all linen i got from joann. the main black fabric was a polyester satin with bamboo brocade that i got on etsy. i later found it in fashion district on a day trip for muchhhhhhhh cheaper. it's also on [ amazon ]. the red satin on the sleeves was pulled from my rough draft, and i think i also got it from joann. because i made all the layers instead of "cheating" them as one or two layers, wearing binghe gets very toast.

the matching purse i made i used my left over linen for the lining, and the green satin was the last ~half yard from the same etsy shop i got my black satin from. my face mask i made using nose clips from amazon, elastic from either my mom's sewing stuff or joann, and scrap fabric. i copied the pattern of a target cloth mask i had laying around, and then i hand sewed chiffon along the sides and top of the mask. the dangling accessory is embroidery floss and a bead from my brother, and i just tied it to my elastic. at con, i wore a disposable under the mask bc it's not mask-approved fabric.

the belt is made from eva foam! i think i used 4mm, and i used acrylic paint. it's all hot glued together, and it ties in the back using ribbon that is also hot glued down. i had done the measuring wrong, so i didn't have enough belt to use velcro, which i think would be the better method 😅

So happy I was able to finish Imogen lvl 9, at least to a wearable point, for SDCC! I do have more to add and fix for next time, but overall I am delighted with how it turned out.

Chest lightning designs were made using Silhouette's clear temporary tattoo paper - highly recommend as an alternative to makeup on your chest! Can just print out the design on an inkjet printer, and so easy to apply. Lasted all day and was fairly easy to remove, as well. (I'll just have to position them better next time so they're more visible.)

Skirt designs are metallic heat transfer vinyl, our first foray into that kind of thing! Unfortunately getting the proper amount of heat and pressure was much more difficult with the large pieces... didn't get as many others on as I wanted to this time 😅

The effect is fantastic, though! It worked surprisingly well on the sheer fabric.

We did end up buying a Silhouette machine (similar to Cricut) as we'd been eyeing one anyways, but if that's not something you have access to, see if your local library has a makerspace!

1. Wig and Contacts: Wig was purchased from wigisfashion. Cut and Styled by my beautiful Dracula. Contacts are from Uniqso.

2. Undershirt and Sweater: The undershirt I bought at a thrift store. My partner IDed the sweater for me. It's the screen accurate Polo Ralph Lauren Men Vtg Preppy Color Block Sweater (I'm wearing a size small).

3. Pants: Purchased at the thrift store and altered the legs to be tighter.

4. Socks and Shoes: I don't know the exact socks he's wearing but I found a close pair on Amazon and my shoes weren't screen accurate but I'm waiting for the New Balance pair to arrive in the mail.
