Music for Organ
Although it is one of the most complex of all musical instruments, the organ has the longest history and the largest and oldest repertoire of any instrument in Western music. From the earliest organs, first appearing in the 3rd century BC, through to the its most popular period during the Baroque era and its most important composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750), the organ witnessed…

...wait—
Still, who knows what [Ozpin] may have hidden from us over the years.
in v7, qrow raises the possibility that ozpin may still be hiding something from them ( and that it likely has nothing to do with summer's last mission ).
then, in v8, we get this exchange between salem and oscar:
If I know my Ozma, he has used some means of deception to hide [the Beacon Relic's] location differently than the others. I need to know where it is.
I... That's not something I know about.
Of course. He would keep that one guarded as long as possible.
so, besides knowing ozpin made the relic at beacon "a bit more challenging" to find than at the other schools—and we have some level of comparison to be made here, as the haven vault had extra security in the elevator being only accessible with lionheart's pocket watch, so whatever ozpin did with the beacon vault, it needs to be more challenging than that—he's definitely keeping secrets so important related to it that not even his closest allies know about it.
...whatcha hiding oz? 👀

OTD in Music History: Notable French composer, organist, and pedagogue Charles-Marie Widor (1844 - 1937) dies in Paris. As a composer, Widor wrote prolifically for organ, piano, voice, and various chamber and symphonic ensembles -- but he is undoubtedly most famous today for his ten solo "Organ Symphonies" (although it should be noted that he also wrote three *additional* Symphonies that were scored for *both organ and orchestra*). The glorious "Toccata" from the 5th Organ Symphony has become one of the most popular stand-alone works in the entire organ repertoire. Widor also holds the title of longest-serving organist at the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris, with a remarkable 63 year tenure that ran from 1870 to 1933. In January 1934, Widor was finally succeeded by his former student and assistant, Marcel Dupre (1886 - 1971)… who then held onto the position for nearly 40 years himself, thereby ensuring that it only changed hands *once* in the span of a century. (Amazingly, Widor’s tenure was also only supposed to be an “interim” appointment!) In addition to his service at Saint-Sulpice, for many years Widor also served as Professor of Organ and Composition at the Paris Conservatoire. A fascinating 1932 recording of the 88 year old Widor performing his famous "Toccata" at Saint-Sulpice can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHEuwGSxUs0 PICTURED: A publicity photograph showing the elderly Widor seated before the organ in Saint-Sulpice. Widor signed and dated this copy of the photograph to July 1933 -- just one year after he made the historic recording linked above, and five months before his retirement. He also penned the famous opening figuration from the "Toccata" above his signature.

My mom got me a bunny! I named her Sherbet because she sort of reminds me of sherbet. I went through several names however. At first it was Bun-Bun and then Hop-Hop and then BeBe and then Poppy, and then I think I finally settled on Sherbet. I will let you know if I change my mind again. Isn't she cute though?
The study day went by quickly. I didn't need my full four hours, so I added in a supplement for Biology since we're on the evolution unit right now. My curriculum is mostly a creationist perspective, although it touches on evolution and natural selection, so I found this docuseries called Life on Our Planet which dives deeper into evolution. I don't need my parents permission to watch the docuseries since they give me a lot of freedom around things like that, but I still let them know I was going to. Apparently my dad has already seen it, and he thought I would enjoy it. That was a surprise to me that he had watched it. The first episode was suspenseful, but I am looking forward to watching more. I will have to build it into my study day somehow. I think it has 10 episodes, all a little under an hour long.
Tasks Completed:
Geometry - Learned to construct perpendicular bisectors and angle bisectors + practice + practice with proofs involving segments and angles + honors work
Lit and Comp II - Reviewed Unit 21 vocabulary + read chapter 39 of Emma by Jane Austen
Spanish 2 - Vocabulary test (100%)
Bible I - Read Judges 12-13
World History - Read second part of the introduction to the unit + read about Albert Einstein + read about Pablo Picasso + viewed some of Picasso's artwork
Biology with Lab - Read and watched videos on the functionality of life from a creationist perspective
Foundations - Read the definition of self-control + completed next quiz on Read Theory + read an article about propaganda in schools
Piano - 60-minute piano lesson + practiced for one hour
Khan Academy - None today
CLEP - None today
Streaming - Watched episode 1 of Life on Our Planet (evolutionist perspective)
Duolingo - Studied for 15 minutes (Spanish, French, Chinese) + completed daily quests
Reading - Read pages 177-226 of House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig
Chores - Laundry
Activities of the Day:
Personal Bible Study (Colossians 3)
Ballet
Pointe
Journal/Mindfulness
-
What I’m Grateful for Today:
I am grateful that my parents agree and encourage me to study the beginnings of life from creationist and evolutionist perspectives instead of only creationism.
Quote of the Day:
Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.
-Pablo Picasso
🎧Suite in B minor for piano, op. 58 - Charles-Marie Widor

i don't think we talk about gant's bigass office organ enough. like what the fuck is up with that. i have several organist friends and from them i've learned that an organ's favorite thing to do is go out of tune recreationally so does he just have a guy to come in and tune it every so often. does he practice in there. can you just hear the overture to phantom of the opera or widor's toccatta through the wall. who PAID for it
