"I gave up on the percy jackson series" stfu.
Uncle Rick worked hard on a production that represented everything he originally stood for: his son.
He did not create this world for us, he did not create these characters FOR US. This was his way of helping his son. He made this world, the books, the show, for his son. Not us.
All Uncle Rick ever has been is an amazing father and an amazing writer.
"The casting and show didn't meet my personal preferences" then stop fucking watching. It's not for you. The entire reason this world exists is because a father loved his son so much that he felt he deserved more than just what he loved, but deserved something entirely new created for him.
I'm so sick of people acting as if the riordanverse should meet up to their personal standards. In uncle Rick's eyes, the series is already as perfect as it could possibly get. He is the reason for all the changes, because not only is he trying to make a remake to represent everything it was originally created for, but he's also trying to accommodate for the current media and viewers out there. He is doing everything in his power to make this a good thing, and yet every week there is a new article with the title "Rick Riordan faces criticism on new Percy Jackson Episode". Like did he put all that fucking work in for nothing?! You guys have been begging for an accurate adaption for years, you finally get one, and all you do is scrutinise it? It's just so fucking stupid.
Okay, rant over now, goodnight.

hbomb's blast of james somerton really makes me think back to other older youtubers who have been doing their good work, performing critical research and analyses into niche fields who then had their work plagiarized from their videos and henceforth wanted to stop making content.
yeah and also they got pushback from the internet saying the degree of plagiarism they'd experienced is a made up problem.
this is a sideways post.

Do you think Ace would put photos of him holding Luffy like a lasso on his tinder profile
Yes. And I also think Ace would put photos of him doing the stupidest things on his Tinder profile. And also lots of nudes and gym bro style types of pictures. He's a fucking loser. I don't even like men and I don't even use Tinder but if I ever saw him there I would instantly think he's a fucking idiot. Which he is. Wouldn't date him even if I liked men (basing this on his Tinder profile only). He's obsessed with making thirst traps and looking hot and somehow it works for him because he has the biggest transmasc and older brother rizz ever. That doesn't make him any less of an idiot though.

Alright, I've been mulling on this for most of the day, and unless a night's sleep changes my mind, I'll be working on returning (remaking) a very old multimuse of mine, that used to be over at iniziare. The blog will be entirely remade, and I'll post it here when it's done!
For those wondering, it will for now house: Guizhong, Yelan, Kafka and Arlecchino. Time to finish up that other WIP theme for this, I suppose! See you guys on the flip-side of this brighter future.

okay but isn't this exactly how it went down:
5sos: *doesn't do collaborations much*
michael: yeah we collectively have this severe anxiety no one likes us
halsey:
roy:
calum's sister and gf both being musicians:
taylor swift inviting them to birthday her party in 2019:
the chainsmokers, being the only ones ever to convince them otherwise who INVITED THEM ON AN ENTIRE TOUR:
galantis: that was the best collaboration I've ever done! blew my mind how nice you guys are and how I learned from you this new experience of being able to be myself as a musician and not pressured by deadlines,, not having rules that 'it must be so'
michael: *still busy stressing about that one snare drum beat*

fanfiction belief/pet peeve/idk what to call it but when it comes to writing an existing character for a fanfiction, i think it is super important for the author to have a good grasp on who the character is on a fundamental level. when you understand who a character is within canon, it makes it a lot easier to then make changes to them that feel natural (unless you are knowingly making an ooc version which then more power to you, go wild). as a reader at least, it can super take me out of a story if a character behaves in a way that just does not make sense to the way they are characterized in canon without there being time taken to establish how/why they have changed

always makes me laugh in vague annoyance when i see the night we met on a character/ship playlist and they're clearly going for the moody ghosty aesthetic, but they've just as clearly never listened to any other lord huron because there are several other lord huron songs that fit that ship infinitely better

Say it with me: Sirius hates Death Eaters, but not Slytherins. Informing the trio that Snape hung out with a gang of Death Eaters was informing the trio that their teacher at one point was totally chill with murdering blood purists and called them friends (you know, totally relevant info with Voldemort on the rise, one person in the trio being the Boy-Who-Lived, a Muggleborn in the group, and the other member being relayed to a family well-known as blood-traitors. It’s rather important for them to know who believes in blood purity and who doesn’t, esp in light of everything occurring in GOF), and explained how he knew them as they were in the same house. And, whether one likes it or not, Slytherin house has the highest number of blood purists that we see, that’s simply canon. We can debate about why this is the case all day long, but the facts remain that Slytherin house has a slew of baby bigots and adult bigots as alumni.
(Also, some people are really weird about insults to the Hogwarts Houses. It is fiction, you will never be in them and while you might have traits of one house, normal people have traits of every house)
ha one of the things i find funniest is when people got mad at j*r for being mean to the slyths as if there’s some overarching moral code that says authors can’t do that lol like,,,,i love those lil fuckers (in all generations, across characterisations and magical alignments) but you HAVE to admit the nature & nurture is sus in that one.
also +1 to everything ur saying about sirius. u know i love ur arguments, anon.

Look at me. LOOK at me. Old growth forests are important. Their loss is violence against the land.
BUT that isn’t a reason to point at younger, perfectly healthy closed canopy forests and claim they’re ecologically insignificant or bad. Their sparse understory is a function of closed canopy forests. Even old growth forests will have sparse understories if the canopy is closed. That’s how photosynthetic strata works.
The west coast has vastly different forests and history than the east. The rare volcanic eruption that made the giant stands of Douglas fir in the west possible would be literally impossible here. Our species are adapted for stand replacing fires set by indigenous peoples to drive deer and rejuvenate oak. Oak as a genus is dying here. We can’t set fires. We can’t harvest patches large enough to simulate a fire. Our deer are overpopulated and browse down every sprout that dares to reach for sunlight.
Making a sweeping ban on clear-cut and similarly ‘scary’ harvests would kill them for good. The restrictions on fire have nearly done that to species like Jack and pitch pine that rely heavily on fire to establish. They’ve been relegated to pine barrens and the rare sandy forest clearing. Our fire Cherry, thankfully, can last decades in the soil seedbank. You can only see them the first few decades after a large, complete harvest and then they die.
What’s good for one forest kills another. Not all trees are made ecologically equal - and that’s a very good thing. All trees and forests have their ecological value. Management of one forest is never applicable to other forests; they all have their own unique histories and communities that should be imitated when possible and left alone when not.
