Probably one of my fave things about CPC is the fact that Gwen genuinely isn’t conventionally attractive, she’s not just some girl who *gasp* wears glasses and has her hair in a ponytail or something X_X The amount of ”””ugly””” characters I’ve that seen that fall into that trope bruhhh. But as the comic goes on, like Frederick, you get used to her appearance and come to appreciate her as truly beautiful bc of who she is <3

So I’ve been kinda dancing around my original story idea for a little while, and I got this idea in my head of ‘what if I release chapter 1 and then get feedback without telling anyone what the story is about first so it’s more of a surprise?’ But honestly? I’m realizing since I already released a preview-of-a-preview for chapter 1, and it might be a little while until I finish chapter 1, plus I honestly kinda feel like I’d rather work on sketches of my character designs than write at the moment, I might as well go ahead and tell you guys. X’3
So! I watched a couple anime recently both centered around the premise of... monster girls! These being Monster Musume and Monster Girl Doctor, but then I noticed there’s also Interviews with Monster Girls, A Centaur’s Life, and the infamous Interspecies Reviewers, and I asked myself... Monster girls are pretty popular right now, yeah? But where’s all the monster boys?! And that’s how I got the idea! I re-watched some of my favorite anime based on Otome Games, Kamigami no Asobi and Uta no Prince Sama for inspiration as well, and a few ones I hadn’t seen before like Dance with Devils and Magic-kyun Renaissance for inspiration as well.
So now I’ve got my premise that I shared earlier: This is the story of Millie, a young woman down on her luck who happens to live in a world where monsters aren’t just real, but commonplace. She started working as a maid in a mansion-turned-art-school whose students are a group of very attractive monster boys. The twist is that these aren’t just any monster boys; they belong to various rare and exotic species with deadly reputations...
Note that character and place names are technically place-holders for now and may change if I come up with better ones. Now, I don’t wanna spoil anything story-wise, but I think I can introduce my setting and some of the characters that you’re gonna meet. The story is set in a modern setting, though it’s vague if it’s actually Earth or just some generic world similar to it, as I try to avoid referencing real-world places or events. This is a world where humans and monsters live together after a Great Interspecies War happened in the past, but tensions have mostly relaxed by the time the story takes place. The war could be thought of as the equivalent of our own World War One, one in which there was a truce decided after many years of stalemate fighting.
The city everything takes place in is tentatively named Dullahan, and was built directly after the war to commemorate peace between human and monster kind. It’s considered an artistic cultural center, and it’s got a lot of interesting entertainment places to go to, arcades, theaters, aquariums, etc, that the characters can have a lot of different shenanigans in. The other main setting is the Beaufort Academy of the Arts, which was actually a mansion that was converted into a small private school. This is where all the characters live, and our main character Millie works as a maid there.
Before I go into the characters, I should start with the various monster species. There are 12 species, divided into 2 groups: common monsters and exotic monsters. The common monsters are centaurs, harpies, lamias (snake people), kobolds (dog people), ogres, and merrows (mermaids). These species are all pretty standard, and will be mostly background characters and npcs. The main characters, and love interests for Millie, will be of the exotic variety: arachnes (spider people), sirens (deep-sea mermaids), mandrakes (plant people), dragons, manticores (with a liontaur body-type), and scyllas (octopus people).
So what differentiates a common monster from an exotic one? Well, while the Interspecies War was between humans and monsters in general, some monsters were already at least partially integrated into human society, and the rest followed soon after the war ended. These monsters were almost as common as humans, and either herbivorous or omnivorous, with the exception of the carnivorous lamias who prefer to eat eggs over anything else. On the other hand, the so-called ‘exotic’ species were not only much more rare, but they had a very different food preference... one which earned them the now derogatory nickname... man-eaters.
Naturally, most ‘man-eaters’ weren’t exactly welcomed into human --nor common monster-- society with open arms, not that most of them wanted to. For the most part, species as powerful and dangerous as them didn’t want to play nice with those they had once --and in some cases still do-- regard as prey, and so hid away into the furthest reaches of the world. Which of course makes them perfect material for all our leading men and Millie’s various love-interests!! Oh yes, while all of these monster boys are perfectly civilized --well, for the most part-- they still belong to species that many both human and monster alike continue to fear to this day. While they aren’t exactly fish out of water (well, except for the siren) there’s still plenty of awkward misunderstandings and interesting scenarios that can be played out.
So! Let’s have a quick run-down of the characters, keep in mind that none of these names are final and could change later on. First there’s Millie, a hardworking young woman who’s had a recent streak of bad luck. Through a misunderstanding she gets hired as a maid in a mansion-turned-art-school. She’s very sweet and tries her best to help others, but she’s not as innocent as she appears; she’ll understand your innuendos just fine, even if she doesn’t really say any herself! Next is Richard and Lara Beaufort, a husband and wife who run the school. Richard is rather laid-back, yet he’s also a master of all kinds of art, painting, sculpture, photography, dancing, singing, you name it! Lara is his arachne wife, a rather boisterous woman who owns a high-class fashion company. The secret to her clothing’s success?? Arachne silk, of course! The school was her idea, a way to help better integrate exotic species into society. Will her mission succeed? Only time can tell.
Richard and Lara have a son named Simon, our first love interest and a human-arachne hybrid who takes almost entirely after his mother in the looks-department (hybrids tend to look like one species or the other, rather than a mix of both). He’s a bit withdrawn due to dealing with bullying as a kid; most people --human and monster alike-- are afraid of his spider-like appearance, so he doesn’t get out much-- to the point his parents worry about him being a shut-in for life! He’s also a gamer boy, and has a secret soft side for gothic poetry, although he doesn’t want to join his parents’ art classes. He actually disapproves of his mother’s exotic species integration plan, as from what he’s experienced he feels it’s a waste of time.
Simon’s best friend and Millie’s second love interest is Louis, a mandrake who lives in the woods behind the manor. Louis is extremely shy and more than a bit lonely, even more so than Simon, and he doesn’t speak very often out of fear that the sound of his voice will hurt others around him. Mandrake screams can induce insanity or even kill those that hear them, hence his fear. Being part plant, Louis has mild shape-shifting abilities and is able to transform between child and young adult forms at will, although he’s actually the oldest of the group. He also isn’t a student at the art school, although he has an interest in floristry.
Now for our actual students! Forrest is a manticore, which in this world means he has a body similar to that of a centaur, but with the lower half of a lion instead of a horse, and a scorpion-like tail tipped with a deadly venomous stinger. Despite his species’s name literally meaning ‘man-eater’, Forrest is extremely friendly and cheerful, and is very sporty too. His passion is photography, and he also loves eating food-- any sort of meat dish is fine by him! He’s also a fan of fantasy tabletop roleplaying games, and will often make references comparing them to everyday life; he always plays the knight who saves the princess!
Anthony is a childhood ‘friend’ of Forrest’s, though he’s loathe to admit it. Highly intelligent and highly snobbish, Anthony fancies himself an intellectual-- and he’s not exactly wrong. Being a dragon, he likes to hoard things-- in his case, knowledge. Anthony loves to read, and is most often found in the library. His skill is in drawing and painting, and all his paintings’ invariably morose subject matter worry Millie. Still, this haughty dragon could definitely learn to loosen up a little, and be a little more kind; perhaps his stay at the academy --and his interactions with Millie-- will open his mind to appreciating the feelings of others. He does, at the very least, greatly respect Master Beaufort as a master of the arts.
The other two students are denizens of the sea, and have been friends for a very long time. Emil is a scylla, and like all scyllas he’s a little eccentric, and just can’t seem to keep his tentacles to himself! While Forrest is obsessed with eating, Emil’s true calling is cooking, and he loves making all kinds of dishes, especially anything seafood and/or foreign. Emil also is highly appreciative of women’s fashion, and absolutely adores everything to come from Madam Beaufort’s clothing brand-- so much so that he actually wears them himself! His pretty-boy looks and penchant for wearing women’s clothing actually has Millie mistake him for a girl at first, though he’s very much unafraid to show her his romantic side, or at least what he interprets as romantic...
Keeping Emil’s pervy antics in check is our sixth and final monster boy, Oswald! As a siren, Oswald spent most of his life in the sea, and still has a lot to learn about humanity. He’s a pretty cool guy but gets a bit embarrassed about his species’s troublesome past as the cause of many shipwrecks at sea, and would prefer to not discuss it. His passion is rock music, and his main instrument is the guitar. He also loves to sing, but refrains from doing so due to the hypnotic effect it has on other species. His lack of legs, tentacles, or a snake-like tail means that like other merrows and sirens he requires a wheelchair to move around on land, and often feels frustrated that he can’t show off how adept he is at traversing water. He’s also easy to embarrass and obsessed with not allowing anything to ‘ruin’ his manly image, including allowing Millie (a girl!) to help carry him around.
So there you have it, all my monster boys! I left out a few things, as those would be major spoilers, but those are my ideas for the characters for now! I’ll try to draw and post some sketches of their designs later. Hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything, but this won’t be the last time I talk about monster boys. Any questions or comments would be very much appreciated! Nsfw questions are allowed (all the boys wear pants for a reason, after all), though I’m currently not sure if this series will be 16+ or 18+, if you catch my meaning. Lemme know how interested you are in this story, or if you’re not interested please let me know that too!

The 14th Department (AFTERL!FE) Meets the Demon Brothers and Undateables (Obey Me!)
Lucifer
Noah heard he has a dog.  He is staying far away from the pretentious eldest.
Oldest big brother?  You better believe Youssef finds a kindred spirit, even if they differ wildly in personalities.
Louis lives for the almost regal aesthetic Lucifer has got going on.  Lucifer, in turn, lives for the day Louis will stop talking.
Quincy finds this whole trip preposterous (“What the heck is the Devildom?  What happened to the Underworld?”) and does not like Lucifer’s condescending attitude (it conflicts with his own!).
Ethan doesn’t like Lucifer—proud and arrogant people with no reason to be so are not to be respected.  Lucifer despises Ethan for the same reason.
Day!  Will!  Not!  Go!  Near!  Lucifer!  He’s so scary!  But Cerberus is his best friend now (Nine-Nine who?).
Nine and Theo together find out that the eldest demon is into classical music and spend hours discussing early compositions with him.
Ell cannot be around this demon!  He is a fallen angel!  He tries to be nice (and because Ell is kind, so is Lucifer, even if the sickly sweetness of the angel drives him up the wall), but every good wish is punctuated with a sneeze.
Lucifer is so overworked, so by way of his calm disposition and love for meditation, Jamie helps him find ways to relax.
The eldest demon’s general demeanor astonishes June.  How manly he is!
Likewise, Sian can’t go near Lucifer without feeling nervous.  The man drips dominating energy!
Verine can’t understand the eldest’s love for classical music.  Rock is infinitely better.
Mammon
Um, Mori and him are best friends.  They together cause trouble in the House of Lamentation and in the 14th Department with their many get-rich-quick schemes.
Gaudy and expensive taste?  Sign Louis up.
Ethan says ‘no’ to the demon’s general pomposity (it reeks of low self-esteem) and by God, doesn’t he own anything that depicts an iota of class?
Mammon is one speedy demon—how can Kirr not appreciate his fleetfootedness when it would bring him so much use whilst hunting?  Apart from that, Kirr has no respect for that reprehensible thief, for the very idea of stealing brings back terrible memories.
Always belittled by their peers, Day and Mammon find a kindred spirit in each other, and Day is always reminded of his past life when he sees all the gold that Mammon professes to possess possesses.
Kati bit him twelve times because no dumb tsundere was going to steal his (cough Aitachi’s) spot as cutest in the Department!
Licht is eclipsed by Mammon’s demon form because how is he able to pull off wearing so little clothing so well?  He must take notes.  When he learns that Mammon is a model, too, he goes berserk with delight.
Cyrille finds the secondborn exceedingly stupid, although he begrudgingly gives him credit for being pretty decent at math.
Sian spots a fellow tsundere and runs away, because oh my God, it’s so obvious that Mammon likes this MC person!
Leviathan
Games?  Social awkwardness?  Extreme interest in things that no one else seems to care for?  Cyrille has found his soulmate!
Aitachi and Kirr cringe at how Leviathan spends his leisure time, but are intrigued because they have never seen such methods of gaming and media consumption before.
Leviathan is forever at Quincy’s mercy, for the fellow demon has no qualms of absolutely crushing Levi’s already non-existent self-esteem.
Even though he loathes to admit it, Sian really likes the rhythm games Leviathan plays, and the thousands of idol posters in his room make him strangely nostalgic of his past life.
June wonders how Levi can go so long without feeling the overwhelming need to burst into a sprint now and again.
Theo almost kills the thirdborn because how is his room filled with so many Demonrito and Hell Mountain Dew containers?  What filth!
Speaking of filth, Licht finds some of Levi’s dating sims and oh my darling, some of them are quite … lewd.
Ghilley and Leviathan together construct an elaborate Lego model of a castle from the anime My Sister Is A Fairy Princess, And Her Suitor Is Secretly An Ogre From a Land Far Away And Wants to Eat Us All, And It’s Up to Me to Save My Sister’s Kingdom.
Ethan can’t even walk past Leviathan’s room without a disapproving “tut.”  Has the demon no discipline, despite being rumored to be the Grand Admiral of Hell’s Navy?
Kati spends all day poking at the cute monster and waifu figurines situated in Levi’s bedroom.  He thinks Azuki-tan is cute, but not as cute as him, and anyone who says otherwise will get bitten!
Aitachi likes to rifle through Leviathan’s anime sword replica collection and giggle because in combat, they would be of no more use than a toothpick.
Satan
Finally!  Someone with sense! thinks Ethan.  Boy, do these two get along, right down to their educated and proper mannerisms to their mutual hatred of Lucifer.
Verine can’t go near Satan without coughing violently because the forthborn always has some manner of cat hair on him, no matter how diligently he preens.
Cats are infinitely better than dogs, so Noah sticks close to Satan.
Cyrille thought he had found a friend in Satan, who always has his nose in a book, but it turns out, Satan is more philosophically-and-intellectually-versed, while Cyrille is more scientific.
Nine likes Satan, for he is as calm as himself.  Strangely enough, they both seem to have hidden wrathful feelings and bond over this.
Kitties! :D is all Day can think when he sees the fourthborn.
Youssef enjoys Satan’s company, too, for they both are anthropological in nature—always watching, but never interfering until there is a need.
Blond and princelike are the two of them, but Louis is sorely disappointed when Satan’s royal appearance is merely a façade of darker emotions to come, where Louis enjoys life in its every aspect.  “How disappointing art thou, Satan!”  Louis throws rose petals in distress.
Kirr and Aitachi try to hunt one of Satan’s cats, thinking it was some kind of Devildom’s finest prey.  Satan does not forgive them for the attempt.
Theo sneezes the moment he enters Satan’s room.  Although everything is in its place and not truly messy by any means, he refuses to let the stacks and stacks of books sit idly by when they are begging to be put in shelves!
Quincy and Satan each add to their respective repertoire of curses in their time together.  It does not bode well for anyone in the House of Lamentation or 14th Department.
Asmodeus
They are … essentially the same person, so you can bet your ass that Licht and Asmo absolutely live for each other’s company.  They literally spend hours modeling clothes together, discussing fashion, gossiping about their romantic exploits, and praising their overall appearance.
Louis joins in too, although he mostly stays for the latter, and the three vanquish away many nights complimenting their own and the others’ looks.
Sometimes Asmo likes to sew patches and sequins onto his clothes and mend them to his own design, and Aitachi, who likes to sew, learns many different ways of stitching from the fifthborn, although he hates the fact that Asmo, like Licht, never shuts up about what an “adorable and cute warrior” he is!
Asmo has to know Kirr’s hair care routine, which Kirr gives in one, succinct sentence: “I wash it.  Sometimes.”
Nine has to constantly flee Asmodeus’ presence because it is in his nature to compliment the Soul Reaper on how absolutely beautiful he looks.
Kati expects makeovers, all of which should emphasize his cuteness, every other day.
Don’t ask how long Mori spent calculating how much money Asmo spends on beauty products, because he wept at the end of it.
Verine refuses to step a foot into Asmodeus’ room because do you know how much his sinuses are going to bother him when he spends even a second into a room so deeply entrenched in the fragrance of flowers and perfume?
Ghilley is used to a personality so akin to his roommate, Licht, so he has no qualms in dealing with Asmo and quite likes the gossip he is quietly able to distill from the fifthborn.
Beelzebub
Brothers in their flaming orange hair, June gloms onto Beel with astounding loyalty (Theo refuses to admit jealousy, but ...), especially when he hears of his dedication to his twin.
Cyrille has to interrogate Beel on the structural integrity of his wings in his demon form because there is no way that such a flimsy apparatus could lift a demon of Beel’s stature even an inch into the air!  Also, how much does Beel exercise if he expects to gain muscle and burn off the infinite calories that he consumes?  It is a scientific mystery.
Day likes snacks, Beel likes snacks!  Everything is right in the world (even if the demon accidentally mistook Day’s hair for a mint ice cream cone).
Jamie is constantly offering fresh fruits and vegetables to the sixthborn, but even though he eats them willingly, Beel much prefers foods that will actually fill him up for a short amount of time.
Again, Ethan is appalled by the lack of discipline Beelzebub shows.  The demon is simply a slave to his appetite and deserves nothing less than scorn.
Theo cannot decide if he likes or hates the fact that Beel leaves a trail of crumbs wherever he goes.  On one hand, he gets to clean, but on the other hand, it’s so messy ...
Even though he has many misgivings of fallen angels, even Ell cannot help but like Beel!  As long as he is fed, the demon is very sweet and kind.
Noah likes Beel, too.  Something about his easygoing and generally cheerful personality pleases him to no end.
Beel tried to eat Kati’s hair, thinking it was a yummy bun.  Sadly, he got bit more times than Mammon.
Youssef is a good cook and is thereby followed by Beel wherever he goes.  The kind Soul Reaper doesn’t mind, though.
Belphegor
Noah likes how Belphie takes things easily and calmly, although it probably wouldn’t hurt for him to get more exercise.
Belphegor is even more of a conundrum to June than Leviathan was.  He decides that next time he goes to the Devildom, he’s going to bring an extra pair of running shoes because the demon most certainly was wanting of physical exertion!
Kirr is absolutely astonished at the unguarded and completely lax way Belphie sprawls out in the House of Lamentation, sleeping.  If he was an enemy tribesman, he would have no trouble in taking the demon down as he slept.
“This kind of laziness is not fit for a warrior at all!” cries Aitachi any time he seems Belphie dozing off.
Jamie likes Belphegor’s way of thinking.  Sometimes, sitting under an apple tree in the sweltering summer heat after a hard day of work just causes one to be overcome with the desire to take a nap.
Youssef tries to brew Belphie a cup of espresso, but the caffeine just doesn’t seem to have an effect on the Avatar of Sloth.
Although he is slightly disheartened by the fact that his quiet footsteps seem to have no effect on the seventhborn, as he is always asleep, Ghilley revels in the prospect of drawing unsavory graffiti on the demon’s face when he slumbers.
Day sometimes tries to rouse Belphie, and Belphie, in turn, tries to kill Day.
Like his observations on his twin, Cyrille cannot fathom how the demon could sleep so much.  How could one body need so much rest?
Simeon
Ell loves him.  How can he not?  He is the perfect angel!  He is also very curious as to how the Celestial Realm of Obey Me!’s world works compared to the one in AFTERL!FE.
His whole aesthetic mesmerizes Louis.  There’s something so tranquil but regal about it.
Licht wants to know where he can get an exact copy of Simeon’s outfit because darling, it's gorgeous.
Youssef probably spends more time around Simeon than he should, but his calm demeanor is so refreshing compared to the chaos in the 14th Department and the House of Lamentation.
Kirr and Aitachi together lament with Simeon on the struggles of working with technology.  Why is it so difficult?
Something about the angel’s holy air makes Mori very much not inclined to ask him how much the gold clasp on his cape is worth.
Quincy hates the “pretentious” and “stuck up” angel and bickers with him almost as much as he bickers with Ell.  Simeon never responds to his goading, although ... he does get a bit prickly when Quincy criticizes Luke or the Celestial Realm too harshly.
Encouraged by the prospect that he can actually breathe in the (fresh-smelling) presence of Simeon, Verine enjoys his company, but is perpetually annoyed by the fact that the angel seems to pity him for his condition.
Ethan can’t hate Simeon, either.  He is the sole honorable character he can find in the entire Devildom, even though he has to admit that it seems that the angel is hiding something.
Day really likes Simeon!  He’s so nice and is always ready to play with him.
As a man of science, Cyrille scoffs at Simeon (and Luke’s) unfaltering belief in religion.
Luke
Kati bites him on sight.  Luke just seems irritating and how dare he think himself cuter than him!
Aitachi sympathizes with Luke, for they both lament on not being taken seriously because of their age.
Luke reminds him a bit too much of a chihuahua for Noah to be too fond of him, but the little angel means well, so Noah suffers his incessant barking out of (Kind)ness.
Day is a human puppy ... and Luke is an angel chihuahua.  They get along great, although Luke makes it his most important goal to Christianize Day, who seems to believe in other things!
Quincy wonders when Luke will stop talking and is constantly entertaining thoughts of hastening the day when he will.  Likewise, Luke wishes the “horrible demon” would go away forever.
As a fellow angel, Ell finds Luke to be great fun.  It’s strange though, Luke seems to always be expressing the opposite of what he’s feeling in typical tsundere fashion, but he never sneezes.
Sian finds Luke to be of the utmost annoyance.  He’s so short (heh) and yappy and annoying!
Kirr wonders if the little angel will make a good hunting dog, but after he realizes that Luke has a lot of trouble keeping his mouth closed, he thinks  better of it.
His dealings with Day cause Nine to be an excellent caretaker of Luke when Simeon is away.  You just have to deal with exuberant personalities like his carefully, is all.
Ghilley and Licht give Luke “five stars” in terms of cuteness.  The young angel does not approve!
Theo stays far away from Luke.  Children are walking crumb-and-stain-factories and he is not going to get dirty.
Solomon
Quincy and Solomon exchange many spell incantations and curses and keep the rest of the Soul Reapers, angels, and demons in an uproar with their constant shenanigans.
When he notices that Solomon has many fortune-telling artifacts in his room, Kati rifles through them all (without permission), much to the sorcerer’s amusement, especially when Kati discovers many supposedly unpleasant things about his future.
Although Quincy and Solomon are the true troublemaking duo in terms of pranks (Satan helps, sometimes), Day and Solomon are almost equal in measure, although much of Day’s rogurey is an accident, and he never means to cause any harm!
Licht is instantly enamored by Solomon’s cape—what style!  You can see the entire Milky Way embroidered on it (Cyrille instantly assures him that that is not actually the case)!
Ghilley can’t help but wonder why anyone thinks Solomon is shady.  He seems to be a pretty upstanding, if chaotic, guy?
Youssef admires the humanity of Solomon.  In a land of angels and demons and even Soul Reapers, it’s good to have someone so normal.
Unlike Ghilley, Ethan definitely notices that something shady is afoot when Solomon is around.  Because of this, he tails the sorcerer wherever he goes, for he’d rather not a ruckus be caused.
Sian has many questions for Solomon on the status of idols in the Human World since he left it.  What are the newest trends?  The most popular groups?  The most admired dance moves?  He wants to know it all.
Barbatos
Cyrille finds the whole time-travel aspect of Barbatos’ powers intriguing and derails the butler from his duties for hours in attempts to understand the nuances of this overpowering concept.
Ethan privately thinks that he looked much better in a butler suit than the demon.  What is even going on with the front of his outfit?  A diligent and uncomplaining demon is Barbatos, and Ethan has to respect him for that, even if he is a position so beneath his own.
He’s so scary! D: thinks Day, even though Barbatos is nothing but kind to him.
Kirr likes the fine fare that Barbatos cooks, although he laments not being able to win “the mind game” against the butler, who he spends many hours staring coolly at.
Theo and Barbatos spend many an evening chatting about the best way to maintain the most perfect state of cleanliness.
The strong smell of detergent follows Barbatos sometimes, and Verine can never bring himself too close to the demon.  However, he has to begrudgingly admit that if it weren’t for the overwhelming stench of chemicals, he would be breathing in a suffocating cloud of dust particles, so he has to thank the butler for that.
Jamie gives Barbatos many good recipes for fruit pies and Youssef can’t wait to try all the (possibly) delicious recipes that Barbatos recites to him.
Ghilley, unfortunately, finds it very difficult to sneak up on the butler, for Barbatos has seen all Ghilley’s attempts to scare him in all the timelines he has observed.
Diavolo
This bumbling idiot is the ruler of the Devildom? thinks Ethan with great distaste.  However dignified Diavolo might be, Ethan cannot see past the blindingly cheerful mask he puts on and finds it most undignified.
A fellow royal!  How is Louis supposed to resist striking a long-winded conversation?  Diavolo entertains Louis’ pompous and overbearing self and they find each other most delightful.
Licht positively drools over Diavolo’s demon form outfit.  Just how he is pulling off that much style?
Quincy finds much enjoyment in disrespecting the Prince of the Devildom to no end and is always disappointed when Diavolo responds to his insults with a tolerating smile.
The Prince of Demons and the son of the Demon Lord are titles that are essentially the bane of Ell’s existence, but he manages to be most respectful toward him, even though he is shaking in his shoes and wondering when all their interactions will come to and end.
Day lived like a king in his past life and is not even remotely fazed by the enormous amount of finery found in the Demon Lord’s Castle.  He is, however, enamored with the Little D’s, who, when not insulting him, are great fun!
Diavolo’s lifestyle of luxury is basically Mori’s dream, so he takes every opportunity to make notes of the expensive furniture and ancient pieces.
Noah and Youssef like how down-to-Earth Diavolo is, despite his high position.  They feel as if he has something to hide, but for the most part, he is a jolly fellow and they enjoy his company.

Inspired by OQ Day 3: “A Special Connection”
This is set in my "Reunited at Last" verse, taking place later in the Enchanted Forest timeline where Robin and Regina are together and Diana is only a few months old. It'll give some more clues as to what happened between Snow and Regina in this verse and one of the reasons why Snow is so against Regina. However, you don't have to read "Reunited at Last" to understand this.
My third entry for Inspired by OQ Week, inspired by a manip by darthraydor that can be found on my Twitter.
Regina paced her spacious bedroom, humming softly as she rocked her daughter. Diana was wrapped in a beautiful pink blanket made from the softest material Regina had ever felt. She cradled the girl, watching as the sun began to set over the horizon. Her nerves grew frazzled as a knot formed in her stomach.
Her husband should’ve been home already.
She looked down at Diana, who stared up at her with bright blue eyes. Regina tried to smile for the little girl, even if she was too young to know anything was wrong. “I’m sure your papa will be here soon.”
Diana just yawned, continuing to worm her little hand free from the confines of her pink swaddling. Regina chuckled, though it did little to alleviate her worry. She knew Robin was a hands-on leader and had made her one. It came as no surprise that when a village called on the royals for aid, he had jumped to go help them himself. She would’ve gone with him had she not given birth only a few months earlier and was only just returning to her regular duties. Between them and Diana’s nursing schedule, she couldn’t leave the palace and it made more sense to send her just as capable husband.
Regina glanced at the door, expecting him to open it. She took a deep breath, reminding herself that Robin knew the woods like the back of his hand. It was nearly impossible for him to get lost. The village he had gone to wasn’t that far from the palace anyway, but there had been a lot of debris from the last storm so it may have taken longer than expected to clear. If that was the case, she knew he would easily find a place to stay the night or be able to make camp. After all, a year of life in the palace wasn’t going to undo all the years he spent living in the woods.
Part of her still worried. If she were honest, she had expected for them to find Snow and Charming by now. This time, the people were working with her rather than against her—though now they wanted revenge against Snow while all she wanted was reconciliation. She wanted to sit down with Snow and have a good conversation with her, a difficult one she knew they needed to have. The rumors about Rumpelstiltskin possibly courting Snow as a student concerned her. Her fear was that she had sent her stepdaughter down the same path she had walked so she wanted to stop Snow before she went too far, like Regina had.
However, if Snow was walking that path, would she still do something to hurt Robin? Would she try to take another love from Regina? Or would she just capture him and hold him for ransom?
No, Regina decided. Snow was still a good person at heart, just someone who had been poorly prepared for the overwhelming responsibility. She had been failed first by Leopold, who taught her to fixate on the superficial aspects of ruling and didn’t show her much else as he believed her husband would handle that, not her. Then Regina had failed her, determined that the princess would never sit on the throne and so didn’t see the need to teach her how to govern well. While Snow had then failed her people, she was not an evil person. She would not harm Robin just to get back at Regina.
She then worried that Rumpelstiltskin wasn’t recruiting Snow at all but biding his time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to try to get Regina back as a student. Manipulating a situation to cause the death of the man she loved was definitely something he would do. He knew it was a surefire way to get her back—she had gone dark after the death of her first love, how much darker would she go if her soulmate was taken from her tragically as well?
Rumpelstiltskin wouldn’t be the only one who would not hesitate to hurt Robin to hurt Regina. After the deposition of Snow and Charming, there had been a small faction who wanted the revolution to continue and to see Mist Haven adopt a different type of government rather than continue with the monarchy. While everyone else called for Regina to assume the throne again, they had loudly protested the decision and promised to continue to work against her. If they had encountered her husband, the prince consort, she knew they would harm him to send a message to her.
She also knew that people still roamed Mist Haven’s woods despite both the economy improving and the country’s role in the ogre war ending. Most people returned to rebuild their villages but some felt they had nothing to return to, so they forged their way on the fringes of society. They became bandits and highwaymen, thieves who acted only for themselves—not like the Merry Men at all. She knew Robin had left that morning in his old clothes, the ones he wore as Robin Hood, with no valuables for them to steal—except for him. They would expect Queen Regina to pay a royal ransom for the return of her husband.
Robin has never been caught, she reminded herself. He still had all the skills that had helped him become one of the best thieves in the land, skills that had kept him alive and one step ahead of those who sought to arrest him—both the Sheriff of Nottingham and her own guards. Anyone foolish enough to cross his path would walk away with some new holes in their body courtesy of his arrows.  No one should underestimate him—especially not her, not after all the years she spent by his side on missions.
Yet he had only gone out with Little John and Alan for this mission as it had been a simple one. Though all three were formidable warriors, talented thieves and knew the forest well, they could easily have been overpowered by a small group. With Robin being their target, it was likely Little John and Alan would be killed—a thought that sent a chill down her spine. They were like brothers to her and she didn’t want to lose them anymore than she wanted to lose Robin.
She glanced down at her daughter, Diana staring up at her with wide blue eyes that reminded Regina of Robin as she rested her now free hand on her little cheek. A pang went through her heart as her thoughts turned as dark as the night sky, wondering if she would have to raise her daughter without him. She knew she had plenty of support, surrounded by people who would happily help care for Diana. Yet it wouldn’t be the same—there would be a terrible hole in her heart and soul as well as in Diana’s life. Regina would love her for both of them but if anyone deserved to live and to raise his child, it was Robin.  Diana would also be the reason Regina wouldn’t turn dark as her love for her daughter, plus the love Robin had given her, would keep her magic light, so Rumple wouldn’t win. She’d go on, living and loving for the both of them.
However, she would rather have her husband with her. A plan formed in Regina’s head and she turned to head toward the door to call for the rest of the Merry Men. She was going to have them put together a search party to go find Robin. She was going to get her husband back and knew they were the best people to get that done.

Neal and Emma had been married for three years. Three years, of ups and downs. They celebrated their anniversary by going dancing, leaving Henry with a young girl, that lived next door, that Emma and he had grown fond of. Emma was dressed in a soft red dress, that fell in waves around her. She had her hair half up, and half loose around her face.
“I love you.” He whispered, as he twirled her on the floor.
Emma beamed at him. “I love you” she responded, as she spun away from him.
He pulled her back. “How did I ever get so lucky?” He asked softly.
Emma snorted. “I would hardly say you’re the lucky one, buster. I’m no prize.”
Neal leaned in and kissed her. “That’s just because you’re getting the wrong perspective. Where I’m standing? I won the gold metal.” He told her gently. “and it gave me the best family, an orphan could ask for.” He dipped her low, and Emma’s eyes were damp.
“And from my perspective, I finally found my knight in shining armor, complete with yellow bug, and noisy two-year-old.” She told him.
Neal swept her back up, and the continued to dance, late into the night, until Emma decided that they should return home to their son. Their son, who was more likely than not, convincing his babysitter to give him sugar, and let him stay up past his bedtime.
When they got home, it became clear, that their assumption was right, when they walked in and found Henry running around the living room, singing Hakuna Matata at the top of his tiny lungs.
“What’s going on here?” Emma asked Megan, who was sitting on the couch, holding her nose, clearly Henry had been doing this for some time.
She looked up. “He wanted ice cream, and then he just started running, and then the singing.”
Neal chuckled. “What ice cream did you give him?” He asked, though from the way the kid was running he could wager a guess.
Megan sighed. “There was only Coffee in the freezer, he told me you guys let him have it.”
“and you believed him?” Emma asked trying to hold back her own laughter, as their son had yet to realize they were there, and was still passionately singing the song from The Lion King.
Megan shook her head. “I mean, I thought I heard they didn’t use real coffee somewhere, and that there wasn’t any caffeine in it.” she admitted. “I realized my mistake, about when he began running.”
The little boy seemed to realize then, that they were home. “Mommy! Daddy!” Henry cried, when he finally noticed them. “You’re home!” He ran forward, throwing his arms around their legs.
Emma laughed, scooping the squirming almost three-year-old up from the floor. “Hey kid, are you getting into trouble.”
Henry gave her an innocent look, then shook his head. “We had ice cream!”
Neal laughed, and shook his head. “We know kid. We know.”
~~If I Never Leave~~
Time passed quickly, before he knew it, their little man was turning three, and he realized this was all he wanted in his life. His wife by his side, their son, running with some of the kids from his daycare. He had started his job as a window salesman the other week, and realized that they couldn’t make it work without some form of childcare. It had been a hard task, trying to get any form of job at all. It turned out his past had truly caught up with him. They were all leery of hiring someone caught with their hand in the cookie jar as many times as he had been. He fought to get this job, because he hated relying on Emma to provide for the family. Emma always smiled at him, when he brought it up and simply told him. “It’s just part of what I signed up for, with till death do we part.”
Emma on the other hand, was swiftly growing in her career. Putting away more people in a month than the Boston PD did, though he would never tell them that.
Neal would never say he was jealous of Emma’s success, but he did regret the fact that he couldn’t do more to help her. Couldn’t provide for his family, the way that he was supposed to. The way that he vowed, when he married Emma.
Soon after, they moved into their upper Boston apartment. Once there, Neal was offered a building maintenance position. He had thought long and hard on it, then decided, that since it paid better than the job he had as a salesman, he would take it. Plus, since it was with the building manager of their building, they got a few perks when it came to their own apartment.
The only downfall, was the hours. Meaning there were no strict hours. Sometimes he could go a week without working, and other times, he was pulled out of bed at two in the morning to fix a leaky faucet. He kept up with his work, and still made time for his son.
One of those times, was bedtime. He always tucked Henry into bed at night, even if he had a call, he would put it off, until he told Henry his story.
He pulled the covers over the toddler, tucking them under his chin. “Okay, Spinner. What kind of story should I tell tonight? A story of a lost princess? A story about a brave prince?”
Henry grinned up at his father, “Spinner!” he declared in his clear childish voice.
Neal smiled. “Alright, alright, I think I got a Spinner story, for my little Spinner.” He told his son. “Once upon a time, there was a man, or he used to be a man, that had left his spinner lifestyle long behind him. He had become a king in his hovel. A coward turned hero: the hero of the Ogre’s war. If only a hero, was all the spinner had become. The Spinner had become a monster. The Dark One was never a hero. He was the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He was an imp, and he wielded the most dangerous power, known to man.
“The Spinner’s son, was the only one who saw this. The rest of the village was enthralled. They were under the spell of the Dark One. His son however, was too close to him, to turn a blind eye, to the darkness. He saw it building inside of his father. Over the short amount of time, that the Spinner had become the Dark One, he grew cold, and cruel. He would rather punish, than protect. This was proven, when the Spinner’s son was hurt while playing in the square. The man had apologized quickly for his blunder, in causing the boy to fall, but the Spinner wouldn’t hear it. Corrupted by power, the Spinner used his newfound dark powers, to transform the man into a snail. A form, that proved easily vanquished. Despite, his son’s pleading, the Spinner was merciless, and he ended the man, that he thought had harmed his child.”
Henry ducked his chin under the blankets, brown eyes peering at him with sparks of fear, at the Spinner. “Daddy, was the Spinner a bad-guy?”
Neal shook his head, and sighed, thinking of his father, before the darkness. “Not always, not always, Spinner. He used to be a very good man, but as you will learn, evil isn’t born. It’s made. The most heroic soul, could become a bad-guy.”
Henry’s eyes stayed big. “Could I be a bad-guy?”
Neal shook his head. “I don’t think you will be, Spinner. Any more, than I think Mommy, could be a bad-guy.”
Henry satisfied nodded, and settled back into his blankets.
“Alright, kiddo, time to get back to the story.” He told his son, as he settled back into the story. “Feeling fear of his father, the Spinner’s son, grew desperate, he despaired his father’s magic, refused to allow it to touch his skin. Refused to allow his father to help the way his father sought to help. He decided to do something about it, so the Spinner’s son, made a deal with the Dark One. He made a deal with his father, that if he found a way, the Spinner would give up the dark magic he relied on, if only his son could find a way.
“And find a way, he did. He heard whispers about an ancient power, that could help him in his quest. A power called, Reul Ghorm. The Spinner’s son, went to the woods at midnight, and he called to the Reul Ghorm, and pleaded that she help him. Reul Ghorm, was a kind little, fairy, and she promised to help him. Only not in the way he thought. She couldn’t make the Spinner the man he once was, but she could send them to a place, where the Spinner had no choice, but to be a man without power. A place, where they had a chance to be a family, a place where the Spinner could be a better man.
“She gave the boy a magic bean, that could take them away from this place. So excited with his discovery, was the boy, that he ran home and told his father. The Spinner, however, wasn’t excited at the idea, and fought his son, before he finally gave in, and told his son he would go with him. The boy overjoyed at the thought of getting his father back, the boy readily led his father outside, and threw the bean to the ground, opening a swirling portal.” Here again, was another point. He could stop here, tell Henry that the Spinner went with his son, and they lived happily ever after, or he could tell the story how it truly went. After a final moment of indecision, he decided to tell it the way it was.
“Once the portal opened, the Spinner grew fearful, trying to pull his son away from the portal, but his son was determined, the boy pulling him towards an uncertain future. The spinner fought, and his son slipped, falling towards the portal, being pulled by the wild winds, towards the portal. Still the boy urged his father on, and as he let go, and slipped into the portal beyond, he left his father with the same parting words as his mother had before him. He declared his father a coward, before it became clear, he would never see his father again.”
Henry blinked at his father. “Is there a happy ending, for the Spinner, Daddy?”
Neal smiled a sad smile, and shook his head. “Not one, that I’ve seen, Spinner. Not one, that I’ve seen.”
Henry yawned. “Does he ever see his son again?”
Neal bit his lip thoughtfully. “Not yet, but that doesn’t mean he won’t someday.” He told his son. “Now, it’s time for little boys to go to sleep.” He said, pressing a kiss to Henry’s head. “sleep tight, Spinner.”
“Sleep tight, daddy.”
Neal got up and moved to the door, looking back at his son one last time, before he flicked off the light. Leaving a history wrapped in a bedtime story behind him.
