so yknow the "soulmates get physical traits from eachother" headcannon?

scott getting a small moon among the ring of stars around his head that just orbits around him. if he tries to get rid of it it just comes straight back like a boomerang so he opts to ignore it

cleo who grows creeper scales that she plucks and peels off. not only because it reminds her of Him... but also because its painful. which means it Hurts Him.

pearl who gets a ring of stars of her own to go around her head. dazzling little lights infront of her eyes. reminding her of what she could have had.

martyn who chose to hate cleo back. who chose to leave pearl behind, (blaming her for their gaslight gatekeep girlboss trio, when hes the one who dragged her into the nether.) not trying to make amends and pushing everyone away to go out on his own. his heart is cold and dead and his body reflects that as he begins to rot.

sorry 2 keep ruminating on jatp's movie habits except that i'm not <3

reggie has a star wars in there... i've never seen a star wars but i can see him liking the one with the darth vader reveal (empire strikes back?) the most. i also think he'd like rogue one enough to put it in his top 4. as for the other two, i'm thinking kiki's delivery service... and once julie shows them some modern classics, reggie adds shrek. it just feels right.

luke goes hard for romeo + juliet (1996). i'm RIGHT. i'm correct. i think after the trials and tribulations of suffering a starcrossed romance he simply relates way too hard. beyond that... he gets really into 10tihay and heartily approves of patrick's gift to kat at the end. he gets really into thg as well... especially catching fire, and then pacific rim. everyone gets on his ass about his top 4 they all call him a "wife guy" and he's kind of offended they needed to see his top 4 movies in order to make that deduction

alex's top 4 are clueless, but i'm a cheerleader, brokeback mountain, and all things KNIVES OUT. alex didn't think he'd love the murder mystery thing either but he ends up getting really into it and guesses who did it.

julie's top 4 are dirty dancing, raise your voice, princess mononoke, and coraline... i think she'd really appreciate coraline as a horror film bc she has such a good relationship to her mother and has a lot of thoughts on the subject. also Raise Your Voice isn't, like, a great movie by any means but it means a lot to her bc she watched it with her mom and then after rose died it meant Even More.

Yooooo unironically LOVE the trolls movie. The second one was okay too, I can't remember it as well as the first but the first is a whole ass comfort movie for me and my best friend when he visits. It's just so. Nice. And, yknow, singing killed my grandma helps too

Casual animation-fan rant beloe

Like I love the decision to take the 60s-70s as a major design influence since that's when Trolls exploded in popularity. The Trolls themselves are in this world composed entirely of felt, wool, and other textiles in these bright psychedelic colors inspired by hippie clothes and patterns. Meanwhile the Bergens' town is based of 70s slums, wear clothes based off the ugly ass polyester suits of the same time period, grey and/or white belts, and Bridget's disguise bridges the gap (no pun intended) with a 70s Disco queen outfit and hairstyle.

Also Walt Dohrn is one of the co-directors of the first film (and the VA for Cloud Guy) and the dude was a writer and producer on SpongeBob Season 2 and multiple early seasons of Dexter's Lab, and the first film has his writing fingerprints over it. I think that's why there's that nice blend of dark humor and fucked-upedness with the colorful happy optimism of the Trolls. Obviously it isn't all him, but you know what I mean.

And this film's hair and textile animation is legit phenomenal. Like the rigging they had to do must have been difficult as hell and I'm not surprised they used quite a bit of "cheating" to make things look good; the final scene where Poppy hugs Branch actually has her model clipping into his, so to solve the problem they just have the camera on the other side so that isn't visible to the audience.

Anyway DreamWorks still makes some good shit and I honestly have always respected their work from the 90s onwards more than Disney, ESPECIALLY regarding their 3d animation department. I like a lot of CG Disney films but...okay, CG films always have to find a way to translate their 2D character and art designs/concepts to whatever software they're working with. I think DreamWorks does a FAR better job "translating" their 2D concept art and designs than recent Disney projects. Trolls, Megamind, Kung Fu Panda, etc just have a better "translation" from concept to CG animation than (imo) Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana, Encanto, etc. Granted, Frozen was in development hell for nearly 50 fucking years, but I think my point still stands for other Disney projects.

I'll put it another way. DreamWorks is much more "cartoony" when it comes to designs and animation compared to Disney, which I think is why Disney gets the accusation that they have "same-face" syndrome for so many of their characters. They try to go for more realistic human designs with juuuust enough cartoonish aspects to be in the middle, which can come across as more boring. Like I liked Encanto's character design, esp when you can tell these characters are all family despite looking very different from each other. But Disney-Pixar seems less willing to take risks and get really FUN with their character designs compared to DreamWorks.

It also helps that DreamWorks has way more non-human characters and casts: Kung-Fu Panda, Shrek, Monsters vs. Aliens, Trolls, etc. Crazy shit and characters is basically their wheelhouse. But that makes them more distinct than Disney's prettified, smoothed-down approach to character design.

Speaking of which I added the new Puss in Boots film and all 3 Kung Fu Panda films to my watch list. I watched the first KFP when it came out but never the next two and they look really fun.

Also, special and very specific caveat-filled shout-out to the often maligned Sony Animation studio because Genndy Tartakovsky's work on the Hotel Transylvania series is some of the best CG animation I've ever fucking seen. It is so full of life and bouncy and dynamic and even if I dislike a lot of their other projects, the Hotel Transylvania films have amazing animation. It and the Spider-Verse film(s) showcase two ends of the spectrum that is animation as a medium.

And Illumination and Blue Sky Studios! I know they get some admittedly deserved shit but I really like the art style of films like Despicable Me, the Peanuts movie, the Dr. Seuss films, and Secret Life of Pets. They both do a nice job translating their concept art to a CG animation style and I find it appealing.

today was a good day. long and tiring, but good.

i spent the morning at home with my family and was given, among other things, the lego apollo saturn v rocket model. that thing is nearly impossible to find. i'm so excited. and the gifts i got went over very well. chelsea was so excited about the lego set i got her, the one that she had when she was a kid, the original x-wing set, not from the star wars collection, but from the lego SYSTEM collection. yknow the one that's fuckin ancient. the set was from 1999. unopened. some person in japan had one and i bought it for her and she was so excited about it. and james loved his shark.

unfortunately, due to some shipping delays and problems with vendors, a lot of the gifts mom got for me and papa didn't arrive, and some were even refunded, even though she ordered them in october. so i feel kinda bad because i wasn't able to get papa something he wanted that was bigger, like he did for me. i wish i'd been able to find things for him. i'll get him a few things for his birthday, i think, but i still wish my papa had been given more gifts. everyone else got enough today, but papa deserves all the gifts always because he's a good man and he puts up with a lot and he has a lot of things that he has to work with every day that are massive obstacles and he does it without real complaint. my dad is a trooper and a good man and im proud that he's my papa.

after being at home, i went to joel's, where we opened more gifts, among which were a handful of mothman related objects which are adorable and that i love. and the gifts i got for people there also went over well, so that was good too. we spent time sitting and chatting and it was nice. and joel was very happy about the stencils i got him, and i did in fact get him the right kind of spray paint. nice.

after that we went to joel's aunt and uncle's house and had dinner and they gave us gift cards, and around 7 or so we made our way back to the house. we just sat and chilled there. eventually i left and came back home, and i sat down and watched shrek with my mom until she went to bed, and i watched the beginning of shrek 2 for a while before turning the tv off around 10:30 bc i was tired and wanted to go to bed.

but then i got up and started cleaning.

i organized everything of mine in the office and consolidated things and put things away and got rid of all the boxes and put away the wrapping supplies and sorted everything to put it in its proper locations. i cleaned out my bag and i folded my blanket and i pulled the trash out and i did like fifteen thousand things before coming up to bed just before 1am.

and now im here and i need to sleep badly. so i'll do that.

im spending time with kat tomorrow, and im happy that i get to see her.

Manchild by Phum Viphurit: i remember listening to his music while walking around an empty mall with this guy i dont talk to anymore and being like omg. this is the best thing i’ve ever heard, and i listened to it on repeat while visiting my sister overseas and it just reminds me of being 17

Shrek 2 Soundtrack: ok. i genuinely and unironically think that shrek 2 is one of the best movies ever made. like every single song on the soundtrack slaps and i’m pretty sure i know at least 3 quarters of the movie by heart because i’ve watched it so much but i could write books abt these songs

Strangers in the Alps (and Punisher) by Phoebe Bridgers: the most at peace i felt last year was sitting on my best friend’s bed and playing moon song on her guitar, also i remember listening to funeral and saviour complex for the first time so clearly bc i couldnt move for like 5 mins after that LOL i was just staring at my wall

Carrie and Lowell by Sufjan Stevens: okay this is one of my favourite albums ever and it feels v personal bc i found it at a time when i really needed it and it just felt like one of those really strange but good coincidences yknow, also it sounds like flowers to me idk how to explain it

Bury Me at Makeout Creek by Mitski: i think first love / late spring is my fav mitski song ever and i would give an arm and a leg and my hotpot pot to listen to that and last words of a shooting star for the first time again

Be The Cowboy by Mitski: i rmb singing washing machine heart REALLY badly while skyping my best friend and she made a tiktok about it and it was the hardest i’d laughed in a long time

Hardcase MUST make the popcorn, he absolutely must, because he is very particular about it. All the unpopped kernels must be gone, and every popped kernel must be evenly salted and buttered. Tala of course learns this very quickly and eventually he lets her do it some nights. She gets her own bowl because she likes white chocolate drizzled on hers and Hardcase Does Not Like It.

Movies! Tala's favorites are horror flicks--ranging from genuine What The Fuck like Hereditary to goofy stuff like the Ice Cream Man or the Dentist yknow? She lets Case hold her hand or just hide his face in her shoulder.

Hardcase is a SAP of course he loves rom coms and stuff like that--he absolutely LOVES the Shrek trilogy. But he also loves action like Indiana Jones and Jumanji. He really likes Jumanji.

Anyway, blankies and cuddles are Required, no matter the movie 😌💙

OHH yes ok. thoughts on umm musicals? broad question sorry

dw no need to apologize ^^ used to be a huuuge musical kid, girl i was obsessed with (thought i had a crush on her but no it was just like. obsession bc im mentally ill) was a theatre kid and liked musicals so i threw myself fully into them for her (did also like them before but yknow). unfortunately though i still didnt watch a lot lol. avoided hamilton like the plague because it made me uncomfortable, watched mainstream musicals like heathers and deh, would listen to soundtracks of other musicals like the mean girls musical or shrek the musical, and when i was innnn 8th grade i was a candy kid for the willy wonka jr musical

and then for musicals such as shows or movies? absolutely love them and always have. the music was a big factor in my love of mlp, and fueled my love for media like encanto or centaurworld. i think music is a really good storytelling element when done well and can always appreciate a musical that pulls it off well

Seven comfort movies

I was tagged by the lovely @underaswift-sunrise thank u <33 loved your movie choices!!!

1. Jupiter Ascending - forever obsessed with this colorful space opera that is far ahead of its time and won my heart by incorporating so many of my fav tropes

2. Shrek 2 - Shrek 1 and Shrek 2 make me feel so good anytime I watch them, but Shrek 2′s adventurous vibe is my fav and also brings back the feel I got when I watched it when I was little & gosh, how funny it is, I’ll never cease to be amazed by the amount of meme potential it carries (and may I add the amazing soundtrack?!!)

3. Jurassic World - once again, love it for the vibes I associate with it from the first time I watched it (saw it alone in the movie theater, month later we went for a vacation in Italy and early morning car ride through Switzerland and Italian Alps made me feel like I was driving right through Isla Nublar while listening to its soundtrack (Michael Giacchino, you’re a genius <3)

4. Harry Potter 1 - a classic, also the fact that I watched it everytime at a yearly xmas sleepover with my friend at her very cozy house makes the comfy feel even more powerful

5. Thor 1 - the first Marvel movie I watched (that made me fall in love with MCU) - it was on a night bus drive w/my classmates from Prague to Great Britain (Barnstaple) where we then spent 2 weeks living with families and going on trips. The combination of being almost the only person awake watching it while driving through nighttime highways in Switzerland and France makes it a very memorable movie for me.

6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - xmas classical w/fEELS DFGJDLFGJ, Jim Carrey absolutely kills it as well as little Cameron Seely <3 cozy and funny and a lovely story that makes me feel good <3

7. Robots - a very smart movie w/a great message, amazing soundtrack, characters that stole my heart, and a cinematic universe I’d love to get to experience (esp the public transport yknow!!!!!! the cool wheeee!!!!!)

like the first time he changed her diaper?

out of all of the babies, xiuying is the giggliest

like i feel like even when she cries, she’ll giggle

for some reason, when she just looks at her dad, she just starts laughing lol

and like even when she cries, if she sees hendery, she’ll just laugh

i feel like hendery is one of the best uncles

like all of the kids love him

and its the same especially when it came to his daughter

there honestly would not be a day without laughter

like xiuying would manage to make you laugh

hendery would manage to make you laugh

your household is just full of giggles even before xiuying could properly talk

pero, back to the princess thing

like she was such a gorgeous baby

she inherited hendery’s HUGE eyes

and whenever she giggled and smiled

oh man

like she was just so beautiful

like she’s just naturally so pretty

she has the prettiest smile too

like there was just so much happy and joy in your life because she was there

hendery would just be so happy around her

like he could be super duper tired from tour or from practice

like really exhausted

but the second he sees xiuying

his energy is instantly restored

just knowing his happy daughter is there, all of his energy is back

hendery is there for everything tho

like he’ll stay by her even when she’s crying like there’s no tomorrow

regardless of how exhausted he is, he’ll do everything for his little girl

zhangjing is the maknae of all of the kids (for now)

like all of her siblings, she was just such a pretty baby

zhangjing was most def the most delicate out of all of her siblings

she was just the smallest

zhangjing looked like a little doll

compared to all of her siblings

she was the calmest and the most docile

zhangjing wasn’t excessively giggly like xiuying

zhangjing wasn’t creepy like mochou

she was just sweet and kind

everyone in the entire group is so whipped for her just bc she’s the baby

like whenever the entire group is hanging out, there is for sure someone holding her at all times

the boys just switch off who gets to hold little zhangjing

omg jisung would hold her for a sec and like want to place her on the ground

and instantly EVERYONE excluding hendery would jump and and be like “jiSUNG NOOOOOO”

poor jisung would be too shocked and just stay frozen with zhangjing in his arms

hendery would step up and be like “guys... it’s okay. zhangjing can go on the ground, she’s not made of paper.”

the boys just thought little zhangjing was too good for the ground lol

omg hendery for sure lives for the compliments whenever someone calls zhangjing pretty

like if she’s on a baby carrier and one of the boys would gush over zhangjing, he’d say the funniest things

like “oh thank you, made her myself! this beauty was made on a fun night around 9 months ago.”

feel free to smack him on the arm for saying that

zhangjing’s natural cuteness just made everyone around her melt

tbh, if you look at his kids all together

all of them are so pretty

like it’s crazy

zhangjing also got hendery’s eyes lol (all of your kids have them lol)

but her stares aren’t as creepy as mochou’s were

tbh, zhangjing’s eyes were always busy

she loved to take in the entire world through her eyes

bc of this, she was a rather quiet baby, simply bc she was spending most of her time observing the world

you would come home from visiting your parents or something like that

and for some reason, your entire family is in the living room and their all crying

your heart drops bc you think something bad happened

so you instinctively hug all of your babies close and ask

hendery walks over and envelops everyone into a group hug, dramatically sobbing

you try to get him to explain and through a ton of sobs and hiccups he manages to get out something like “zhangjing started crying because she figured out lina is going to be gone visiting thailand for the next two weeks.”

you take a look at your youngest and immediately start crying too

why? you don’t really know. but seeing zhangjing’s crying face just triggered it for you

tbh, at this point, zhangjing has superpowers lol

anyway

she remained as a super curious girl

like if she’s every put into a new place, she’ll spend the first 10 minutes just observing

most kids would just run and play without thinking too much

but zhangjing would slowly and carefully take a look around, taking in all of the details of the entire place

she loves all of her siblings

they all baby her lol

zhangjing is just so observant and curious and for some reason, is really good at making people feel emotions they didn’t think they were feeling at the moment lol

her roles are usually the innocent girl and such

like if you’ve seen my first first love story

she would play roles like oh garin (from my first first love story)

zhangjing is the sweetest honestly it’s so cute

like she plays that role really well

but zhangjing does it in a way that it doesn’t really annoy people

she keeps her energy levels

and she keeps her puppy like personality

the group still babies her a bit, but it’s not too bad anymore

she still maintains her natural cuteness lol

like she’s for sure really tiny

so it’s just natural for her to be on the cuter side

she adores her siblings so much

zhangjing would cancel her schedules just to see all of xiuying’s shows

during her breaks, she would be catching up on all of the news pertaining to mochou

zhangjing still remains curious

everytime she’s on a new set, she’ll roam around everywhere just bc

she hasn’t played a lead role yet so she doesn’t need to be dressed up and ready right away

omg tbh, sometimes they would have to edit her out of the window in a background

just bc she was wandering and she didn’t know they were filming lol

it’s not a big deal for the company

now is it her natural cuteness that is making everyone okay with it? idk.

she’s the quietest out of all of her siblings

and she has a hard time making good jokes like they do

zhangjing doesn’t cringe at the jokes

she actually likes them a lot!

which is fine bc her siblings definitely make enough for her share lol

whenever zhangjing is around lina

they both talk each other’s ears off

out of all of the friendships of kids, lina and zhangjing are the most talkative

they just have so much to tell each other all of the time!

they maintained their friendship even tho they took two different career paths

zhangjing was the baby of the group for a couple years, all before the next wave came (this “wave” refers to the on the way families!)

Ok, so

I dont expect this to garner much attention (if any at all), but i just wanna put my thoughts out there, yknow, because what i just found out is pretty cool, so its nice to just shout into a void about it.

So, for most of my life (which isnt that long yet), i have been able to hear things or see things that many others i know have not. Or sense bad vibes from someone/something, like a bad room/person etc. But since I get anxious about lots of stuff (im actually in the process of getting diagnosed with anxiety), I just brushed it off as paranoia and eventually all that happened less frequently.

Well recently i got more into witchcraft/paganism, and would work with tarot cards and crystals, etc. But whenever i did, the night after, all the weird buzzing/white noise would get louder and i would sense bad energy in my room.. HOLD ON NOW, this is where the story gets interesting...

So one day about a week ago, my mum goes to a clairvoyant (psycic) and gets a reading. She goes with the intention of connecting with some of our late loved ones, and checking if she should go through with a major surgery (the surgery obviously wasnt life or death, it was optional but would optimise her way of life) BUT SHE CAME BACK WITH SO MUCH MORE INFO...

So she went there and i dont remeber all the specifics of what she told me happened, but the phsycic did mention that my mum was a druid/healer, had celtic roots, and that i was most likely a clarevoyant/healer and that they would mentor me and guide me through being a baby witch and hopefully make smarter choices with my practices.

But they advised me not to do anymore tarot readings or just witchcraft at all until i see them, but yule is coming up (i'm in the southern hemisphere) and i dont want to miss the festivities... oh well i know its wiser to play it safe. Congrats if you made it through my horrendous spelling and rambling to the very end btw. Dont know if anyone will even read this, but oh well.... quoting from shrek: 'better out then in'!

ADORA 👀 I owe you my life @staravenger7285 I have so much to say about this girl

1.) Favorite thing about them?

Oh god, I love Adora's heart. She's got such a big one it's hard to imagine she was raised by the likes of Shadow Weaver and Hordak. But that kinda just goes to show how big it is, couldn't be corrupted by those assholes. She's eztremely loyal to people too, not necessarily causes. She betrays the Horde, but remains hopeful that Catra will join her. She falters in feeling like she belongs in the Rebellion, but wants to prove herself to Bow, Glimmer and Angella. She's like...an anime protagonist, honestly. Pure and good to a ridiculous degree annnnd ironically that is also her weakness-- 👀

2.) Least Favorite thing about them?

---Adora is overbearing. Her guilt complex, compiled with her insane need to prove her worthiness just absolutely bulldozes anyone who has a say against her in any capacity. The best part about her is that her intentions are always good, and she tries to protect because she cares. But to characters like Catra and Glimmer, who are also striving to prove themselves, it comes off as smothering and controlling and overwhelming. But it's hard to hate her for this because it's the only way she knows how to show she loves. In her own way, she is still just a small abused child and that shows in this BRILLIANT writing from the Crew-Ra!

3.) Favorite Line?

Anything she says during the episode where they meet Bow's dads. Genius.

4.) brOTP

For as much time as she and Bow got together in S4...they really didn't actually interact much...yknow???? Which was so bizarre. I think they're the best of bros, constantly doing weird shit together and exchanging bad jokes or puns. I also think she and Scorpia would be good bros if they could get over their bad blood. They've both got big dumb good hearts.
