True that bi characters in m/f pairings are valid, but like…
Are we just going to ignore the fact that tv writers in the last 10 or so years have figured out that they can continue to pander to homophobes and simultaneously get queer rep brownie points by never showing any actual queer content at all, having a character in 52 different m/f relationships, never once alluding to them being into same sex stuff… and then just giving a one sentence easily-edited-out vague confirmation of them being bisexual?
You guys are so starved for any confirmed queer rep at all that you’re perfectly happy letting film companies get away with this shit and it’s frustrating as hell honestly.

kinda weird every time i see the 911 cast do like. the emmys. hand out an award. go on a red carpet somewhere. like, intellectually, i know they're on a top rated tv show that isn't niche in the slightest. logically, i know that angela basset and peter krause are not little names. but like. sometimes i see them and realise they don't just live on my tv and they have whole careers and people know about them and its not just me and a handful of girlies on the internet. its like. regular people too

The most lukewarm but still somehow controversial take: I don't think a very close bond between islanders and eggs, where they are close and clearly love each other, needs to result in the islander being considered the eggs dad/mom/parent

oh my god guys just because a weapon is ranked “low tier” doesn’t mean it’s impossible to be good/have fun with. A weapon being low tier means that, on average, it struggles to do well. AVERAGE. Sure, you might get 20+ kills with your aerospray in turf war, but that doesn’t change the fact that aerospray is low tier because ON AVERAGE it struggles to do anything else but paint. Just because you’re good with it doesn’t change that fact. With the right amount of skill, sure, almost any weapon can be good, but some weapons are easier to be good with than others. That’s what tiers mean, not “this weapon is amazing and everyone should use it and this weapon is dogshit and no one should use it.” Tier lists are an attempt at an OBJECTIVE ranking of how well certain weapons do ON AVERAGE in various situations.
And forget fun, that’s too subjective to be ranked anyways. Tier lists aren’t about that.

look this isn't universal or a hard rule but I think as a general rule of thumb if you can adequately summarize the whole plot of a flim without once having to mention the culture (or any cuturally specific elements, i.e. specific holidays) which the characters belong to, then maybe the film is not actually explicitly About that culture. Even if it does feature it.

seeing people go on about how naive and foolish and blind and stupid utena is and i’m just sitting here like. she’s 14! i disagree strongly with the idea that utena is willfully or maliciously ignorant. like yes, while i think she does often fail to fully comprehend whats happening (especially in the last arc) she’s also finding herself in increasingly horrifying and new situations with no point of reference for how abnormal it all is?? she is doing her very best to make sense of things as a 14 year old child who has no parental figures or guardians, no friends who aren’t also somehow in on the manipulation happening to her, nowhere to go outside of ohtori. and that is on top of trying to navigate her experiences and identity as a queer and gnc person!!!! i feel like folks are wildly overestimating the comprehension the average closeted teenage lesbian has of systematic heteropatriarchiarcal cycles of abuse! she’s literally 14!!! save the scorn for the willfully ignorant for akio

why do you think stevebucky lost that poll? is it because of endgame? recency bias? the other ship being canon?
Most important reason is just this website sucks.
But it's multifaceted.
Biggest bit is just stucky fans are older, probably have migrated off the website, or at least are not engaged in stucky fandom anymore. It's been a while, it happens. Canon said fuck you, get gone, so many did.
But almost equally as big? OFMD people have a victim complex the size of fucking mars and use polls to exercise said victim complex. It's undeserved--they've been called out and mocked for valid reasons--but like... also a WEE bit deserved in the sense that they are THEEEE punching bag because OFMD is so emblematic of so many things people on this website are annoyed with--diversity to pretend to be "inclusive" and "progressive" while the narrative is the opposite, people who think "gay" is a genre, the weird acting style that's camp... but it's intentional and so it's just like... pathetic and theatrical in an annoying way, so it feels more superwholock than it does like... whimsical... the slavery apologism is a big one, can't forget that... the Taika stanning that popped up right when everyone realized he's a. annoying and b. kinda fucked up (the antiblack racism that keeps popping up in his works, the weird affair thing, and now everything going on with this soccer movie).
So... after Black Sails last treated them as a punching bag, showing them what REAL gay piracy is about... I think OFMD people put more stock into voting and therefore mobilize more around polls to be like "SEEE WE ARE THE GAY REP EVERYONE WANTS" when really, they're not, they're more invested in it (like the average person who has ever cared about stucky isn't... really caring about validation at this point), it's newer, and they have more to prove.
Go through the notes on the post and it's just "WOOO WE BEAT THE GAYBAIT" as if their show isn't just... worse gay bait? Like... it invented canon gaybait. That is to say... they baited in people with gayness because it had little else to offer.
It's not good gay rep. It's just... canon.
It's still shit.
And it still has incredibly weak fandom output outside of poll engagement because people are satisfied with the world driest gay kiss.
They fought harder to win the poll because it's the most attention they'll ever get from people with taste.

my self esteem with my art has gotten better in a lot of ways in the sense that i no longer agonize over whether or not something looks "bad", but operating ONLY under the metric of "am i, personally, satisfied with how this art came out" does have its side effects. like. i've gotten way better at accepting compliments on my art and no longer feel the urge to debase myself when someone says i did a good job on something, but now sometimes when people compliment me, instead of being like "oh my art sucks this part is so bad" blah blah blah im just like "i legit had no idea what i was doing when i drew that so im glad it came out looking correct!"

my moronic older sister shared some quote on fb about how she “waited for love to find her” and “didn’t chase what wasn’t for her” even though she literally married the first man who expressed interest in her (not even being hyperbolic) and married him after like 4-6 months of “dating”. now she just complains that she doesn’t like him as a person bc they have nothing in common but she’s convinced it’s “normal” because “healthy couples still argue” even though he’s emotionally abusive to her and physically with the kids. why are straight women like this.

i get what that post is saying, but a MAJORITY of the local drag performers I know are trans women and/or gender-fluid…like the attacks on these shows are very much affecting trans ppl in the industry who are unable to get other work.

The difficulty with my personal tagging system for tracking what I’ve read in my spreadsheet is that I don’t have a simple ‘favourite run for this character’ marker.
It falls down in the face of runs that I really love. Because while I might be going “this is a standout issue of Simone Birds of Prey or Rogers Blue Beetle or Puckett Batgirl”, and using that tag, the AVERAGE issue in one of these runs delights me as much as a standout issue might in a more average storyline.

Reading another romance novel set in NYC where the author seemed to forget that just because something isn’t advertised towards tourists doesn’t mean it isn’t something that exists and is popular with people who actually live here.
