10 Amazing Futurama Comics

There is a severe lack of Futurama content on this and other sites (seriously, the Night at the Museum movies have more fics than Futurama). And, nobody posts about the Futurama comics. So I’m posting 10 of my favorites.

10. Attack of the 50-Foot Amy (Issue #33)

It’s actually not as sexual as the cover makes it out to be. The basic premise is that Amy mistakes the can of growth spray (that Cubert and Dwight want to use for their science fair project) for hair spray and sprays waaaay too much before her anniversary date with Kif. Meanwhile, Bender teaches Fry the wonders of video piracy, but after he gets scared by a movie home alone style he eats his disc of pirated movies and starts uncontrollably acting them out. You can probably guess how these two plots connect.

While I do list this one as one of my favorites, it’s far from perfect. The artwork is good, but the scaling on Amy is very wonky so she looks more like a twenty-foot Amy (also Dwight’s eyes are drawn weird in this comic, he looks blazed out the entire time). But I cannot help but be charmed by this comic. It’s got some sweet Bender and Fry friendship moments and actually makes me believe Kif and Amy’s relationship for a little bit. They are very sweet in this comic, although Kif does go through some pain in this comic.

Best moments: They way they resolve the plot is actually pretty funny and clever, plus Bender hopped up on pirated movies is a joy. At one point Fry gets shoved by Steven Spielbot (don’t ask) and Bender goes all Rocky on his ass saying “No one talks to my gal, Adrian, like that!” It’s very sweet and...subtextual if you understand my meaning. This one also has anti comic book piracy message at the end which was ironic for me to read.

9. Doctor What (Issue #32)

The Professor creates a time traveling port-a-potty so that you can pee in whatever time and space you want, although it’s completely random. However, Zoidberg accidentally breaks the potty, so him, Leela, Fry, and Bender have to keep randomly flushing to get back home. On each of these new worlds Zoidberg keeps accidentally saving the citizens, getting medals, and ends up becoming addicted to the fame he keeps winning. Which leads to them getting stuck in a post apocalyptic New New York.

This is the infamous Leela-Bender-Fry fusion comic, Leelan von Fry-Bot. His backstory is actually a little sad, but I won’t spoil it here. This one is pretty good, because it has Zoidberg as the hero. Actually quite a few of these feature Zoidberg as a fourth member of the delivery crew which is weird, but not entirely unwelcome. It’s also fun to see these other worlds, and now that I think about it it’s actually a little similar to The Late Phillip J. Fry, what with the time travel to different interesting worlds.

Best Moments: I actually liked Leelan’s backstory, and his interactions with his “parents” (you’ll understand when you read it) are actually pretty funny and a little cute. Fry really wants to be a dad you can tell.

8. The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis II

The professor creates a device that takes characters out of their stories into the real world. Trouble is, he tells the mayor that this invention is useful because you can get slave labor out of the characters because they technically have no constitutional rights. The Simpsons end up working with the Planet Express crew, but an accident leads to the release of ALL FICTIONAL CHARACTERS EVER.

This is a sequel comic to the Futurama Simpsons Infinitely Secret Crossover Crisis (fun fact: a reference to several famous comic book arcs). I chose this one above it though because I think it understood the assignment better. The original is funny, but I just don’t think that Springfield is a good setting for a Futurama crossover. Springfield for all its zaniness, is not the future. New New York, however, is great for this crossover. We get several scenes where we see the Simpsons going through space and fighting off monsters. We even get to see the other residents of Springfield in the future, Mr. Smithers becomes a space pirate and Mr. Burns falls in love with Mom, it’s great.

Best Moments: Some of them I already mentioned, but I cannot stress enough how hilarious the Burns-Mom romance is, it’s especially good when you can hear their voices in your head. I also like the friendship the Simpsons have with the Planet Express crew.

7. Six Characters in Search of a Story (Issue #14)

This is a very interesting comic. The Professor falls asleep, so to pass the time the crew decides to look through his old failed inventions, and well, that’s a very bad idea. The most interesting thing about this comic is it’s designed so that if you want you can only read certain panels to follow one person’s story. The Futurama comics do this a lot of the time and it’s always interesting.

The shenanigans that occur in this one are really funny, and there are some great looking pages in this. Also the Futurama crew clearly took ideas from the comics, and this is one of them. You can tell from the cover art that this does have elements of “Benderama” in it, what with Bender cloning himself ad infinitum. I also really like the climax, it’s a little schmultz-y for Futurama, but I don’t mind.

Best Moments: Fry gets stuck with a Spanish speaking Bender and I don’t know why but it’s really funny to me. The professor also gets some funny moments in this one. And Scruffy. Scruffy is always a delight.

6. Igner-ance is Bliss! (Issue #63)

Yeah this is the infamous robot Leela and Fry comic. Don’t worry, like the cover says, it’s not as dramatic as it looks. The crew has to go to a world that’s too dangerous for humans, so Fry, Leela, and Zoidberg all have their consciousnesses put into robot doubles so they can make the delivery. However, it turns out this planet is a sort of getaway spa for robots, and the crew decides to party it up there, at least until Bender discovers that this is a front for an evil plot by Mom. The subplot is mostly about how Igner is not respected by his brothers.

This one is fun, and I love a comic where Bender has to be the voice of reason. It is clearly killing him to be the responsible one, but I love it. Also, I have a soft spot for Igner, so it’s nice to see him get thrown a bone for once. This also has some really fun jokes with everyone, but Zoidberg in particular gets some bangers. I think my only problem is it ISN’T as cool as the cover makes it out, but like I’m happy with what it is.

Best Moments: Fry beats up Bender at one point and wins, I think he deserved it. Also, y’all know Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars? He makes some cameos in this one. Also all the robots (sans Bender) make a Japanese style mecha and it’s the coolest thing ever. Plus everything I’ve said about Igner I love in this one. Oh also Fry beats Calculon at poker and I really love that.

5. Who’s Dying to be a Gazillionaire? (Issue #5)

This one is sweet. The IRS is threatening to bankrupt Planet Express, and if they can’t think of a way to make a million dollars they will go out of business. No one really has any ideas and doesn’t even really care, except for Fry who is determined to save Planet Express. He gets the idea to go onto Who Wants to be a Gazillionaire to make the money, even though it’s a trivia show and if he loses he will die.

This one really warms my heart, it’s Fry at his best, just doing what he can for the people he loves. Even the professor is great in this one. I don’t want to spoil it, but trust me when I say it’s good (god I hope I’m not building this up too much).

Best moments: The end panel. But also the resolution of the story is great, and I really appreciate this comic for Fry as a character.

4. Rumble in the Jungle (Issue #38)

This is a fine comic. Leela is mad that she’s not being respected by Fry and Bender, and it’s bad enough that they don’t believe her when she says they’re going to crash into a planet. They end up parachuting down and getting separated. Leela ends up as queen of some workers in the “Amazon,” meanwhile Fry finds Bender’s corpse and goes off to avenge him.

This one is fun, and another fun one for Fry, because he’s determined to avenge Bender and works hard for it. This also includes the original Frender, not the ship but fusion. Leela and Fry even have a fight scene against each other and it’s honestly great.

Best Moments: Fry is great throughout the entire comic, and Leela spends most of her time beating up random animals. Bender also using a lead parachute he made out of toys he stole from children is funny, especially because I’m always a sucker for Bender doing dumb shit.

3. Don’t Go Taking My Heart! (Issue #69) (nice)

Mom only has a couple weeks to live, unless she can get a heart transplant. It’s revealed that Mom uses the cryogenics lab to get new body parts for herself, and that Fry was supposed to be her heart donor! Unfortunately, because he was unfrozen she now has to get him to work for Mom Corp to make sure his heart stays intact for the procedure.

If you can’t tell I love the Fry-centric comics, and I also like the comics where Mom is the villain. Of course this comic doesn’t go completely how you expect it to go, it’s actually REALLY sweet. I also love the fact that in this comic Fry actually makes a great intern. He basically has the job of a secretary and he’s GOOD at it. And I love seeing when Fry is good at things. The reason why I put this at only 3 is because it doesn’t really have a subplot. Bender gets a job at mom corp to but it’s only there for a couple pages, and Leela’s new crew gets two panels and that’s it.

Best Moments: The moments with Mom and Fry, but also guess who Mom’s doctor is? I’m actually not going to reveal it because it’s so random but also hilarious.

2. Boomsday! (Issue #58)

The Professor builds Bender his own parents, as a way to placate/discipline Bender. However, these parents decide that Fry is a bad influence on Bender, leading to them kicking him out. Meanwhile, the Professor’s doomsday devices are all stolen, and he has to go find them.

Both of these plots are funny and good. Bender’s plot is also really sweet what with his friendship with Fry, and his wish for parents. Meanwhile the Professor’s plot is just really funny and I do love seeing the Professor in his element. The ending is mostly heartwarming.

Best Moments: Everything with Fry and Bender, and Bender has a sweet relationship with his fake parents. Also, the Professor uses Issac Asimov candles on the robot mafia which I found a great joke. Oh, and the Professor’s first doomsday device was made when he was four years old and I love that. The end of the comic also has very nice message.

1. Rotten to the Core (Issue #27)

The world’s weather has gone kerflooey, and the Professor has figured out that his invention that can drill into the center of the Earth has been used. It conspires that Bender sold it at a yard sale to some aliens call the magmoids. The magmoids are trying to steal magma from the Earth’s core and the crew has to go and stop them.

This is my favorite because it’s a great character comic. All of the main three have great moments, and it’s also a great science comic. The Earth’s core is incredibly magnetic so of course Bender starts spouting out folk songs, and also SECRETS. I can’t believe no one has used the fact that canonically magnets make Bender incapable of telling lies. Anyway, it’s just really fun.

Best Moments: Way too many to count. Bender and Fry are told to cut out the “Brokeback Moanin,’“ Leela and Fry are bitter at the end, Fry tells story about his childhood, Bender has some great secrets to tell, the Professor gets a really fun ending, Bender has a rare moment of generosity, and the entirety of the climax is all kinds of fun and sweet.

Top 5 writing tips for stories

oh. my. god. this is the best ask I've ever received holy smokes. thank you for thinking that i can sort of write, that’s so kind of you ;-;

1) first and foremost, know who your characters are. such an old writing tip but it rings true. who are your characters? do they get angry? what do they want in life? how do the things they say relate to what they went through in their life? are they happy? optimistic? cynical? are they open to love or are they aversed to it? i’ve never tried writing my own novel with my own characters, but i think this is really crucial when it comes to fanfiction. you and the people reading this are here because they want to explore more of these beloved characters. as the author, it’s soo important to really think about who your characters are.

remember: the reader will go anywhere with a full character, but question every move of a shallow one. and when the reader begins to question things in your story, then they’ll be distracted the entire time reading your story.

2) that in mind, please for the love of god know how to differentiate your characters, especially in their dialogue. when characters have their own voices, it makes it so much easier for the reader to keep up with what’s happening. you can tell it’s well written characters/dialogue when there isn’t any dialogue tags at all but you can still tell who’s talking. super important to do this with things outside of dialogue too; if these characters were all the same, then it doesn't matter if they do anything at all because it means ANYONE can do ANYTHING and the readers wouldn't even be attached or surprised or even interested.

and hey its ok to have characters similar to each other--in fact, it’s great! character foils and parallels are some of the sexiest things in the world. but make sure they still have something that can tell them apart, something unique to them that sets that character apart from the rest. this is pretty tough to do, so i highly suggest practicing this sort of thing if it worries you (lord knows I'm still practicing it lmfao)

3) I've said this before in like a half dozen other posts but i will keep saying it until i die: know your characters’ fundamental traits, especially in fanfiction. hey, we all love changing and tweaking canon, trust me i get it. but every single character has a trait (or traits, but try to have very few) that should never ever be sacrificed, or else the character you’re writing is no longer that character--now they’re a character that can be anyone else. akechi should always have his cynicism, akira should always value his friends.

every author should have their own idea of what a fundamental trait for their character is to make sure their character stays their character. feel free to change anything else, but always keep in mind their core traits. this core trait should propel the character forward in the plot and dictate why they do what they do.

4) you wanna hear an overused writing tip? too bad, here you go: the medium is the message. AKA understanding what your story can do and how to convey that. yeah, i just busted out the oldest phrase in the book because it literally changed my life. know what your story can do in the platform you chose to write it in. you probably sent me this ask to talk about fics, but this is about anything. you have to know the pros and cons of telling your story on the platform you chose it on.

an artistic portrait is great for conveying a snapshot in time, but its incredibly tough to try to convey internal thoughts and nearly impossible to convey dialogue. a movie is 10/10 for visual aspects and showing off dialogue and dynamics, but you can’t do much about internal monologuing unless you wanna risk being cheesy. (further into this is animation vs live action remakes: animation allows for a suspension of disbelief and fun artistic styles, which is why live action remakes are so bad in comparison.) fanfiction excels in character dynamics and internal monologuing to really nail introspection, but for the most part it plummets in terms of describing what something looks like and action often struggles alongside with it.

know the limits of what you can do in writing, and play to its strengths as best as you can. I'm not saying its impossible or even that you shouldn’t do action in fanfiction, I'm just saying know that it will be difficult, and that its something you can practice on over the course of writing in your life.

5) and finally, the actual most important rule: love what you do. good god i cannot stress this enough. fam, if you are writing fanfiction, this is one thousand percent a labor of love. if you hate doing this, if you’re in it to get reviews or kudos or hits, you are going to hate writing fanfiction, especially when you’re just starting out. the minute this becomes a project for you, life changes. you think i write fanfiction for people to click on my silly tumblr and give me silly reviews? no man I'm here to write about how i think ryuji deserves more respect through a scene filled with group dynamics and bad soup. hate the work but love what you do.

One:

tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?

ok SO the song that probably got me into rv 100% (also yes ik this blog is 99% nct but rv is my forever fave no question) was probably ice cream cake!! i had been a casual listener of many groups up until that point and had never really stanned anyone, but icc was so infectious i found myself watching it over and over. i had heard happiness and be natural before but hadn’t really listened too closely, so icc was the song that captured me. after that, dumb dumb only cemented my love for them more, and the red is still one of my favorite kpop albums to date. rv attracted me primarily because of their incredible vocals and their versatility in genres and concepts. i still get so excited wondering what they’ll tackle next!! they’re just soooo unique and have one of, if not the best discographies of any group. i cannot stress enough, I. Love. RV!! also they’re funny and gay so. anyway stream monster once it drops uwu

1. what is your favorite song that’s been released during quarantine? ooooo honestly??? probably something off of Sawayama. literally every song bangs so hard i highly recommend that album to anyone!! i can’t pick a favorite off it but who’s gonna save you now is awesome and xs is just,,, chef’s kiss

2. what is your greatest mishap when you tried cooking? (or something you’ve witnessed) one time, while making soup at my late grandmother’s house on her like gas stove, i put a lid on a pot and somehow that led the pot to be engulfed in flames. IN MY DEFENSE i was like 7, and i’m great at cooking/baking now

3. what’s your go-to outfit or article of clothing? oh i love a nice dress. they can be casual or formal, and you look like you put effort into your outfit except i didn’t because i didn’t have to match anything yo!!!! also shorts have trouble fitting me cause i’m a weird body type so dresses tend to be very comfy for me

4. what is your comfort food? am i allowed to say like all food??? eating in itself is comforting,,, that sounds depressing but also i just like eating yummy food. i guess i’d say like my dad’s fried rice?? its my fave and no one makes it like him soooo

5. what singular moment in your life would you like to relive? i couldn’t tell if this meant like, a good moment you want to re-experience or go back in time and redo a moment and fix it. it’s kind of a hard question so i might cop out and go with a bit of a silly answer: i want to relive the hi touch with astro...... i wanna look at rocky’s beautiful eyes and touch moonbin’s hand ok,,,,

6. what is your favorite line and/or character from a movie, show, or book? i got a bunch but a few off the top of my head are genie lo (the epic crush of genie lo), ty lee, suki (atla), klaus, and ben (umbrella academy)

7. if you could only choose one ice cream flavor and pizza topping/style for the rest of your life, what would it be? ice cream flavor: this very specific one from a local store that is banana ice cream with strawberries and oreo mixed in. it is heaaaavenly. as for pizza topping, i love a breakfast type pizza with an egg on top and like sausage and stuff!!!

8. what is the worst injury you’ve ever had or witnessed? funny enough, i’ve actually gotten badly injured quite a few times, and always on the face!! god hates me. the worst was probably when i hit a metal bench with my face and it took a chunk out of my cheek. i still have the scar! as for “witnessed” i accidentally broke a grown man’s rib once as a child, so i guess that would count.

9. would you rather explore the unknown of space or the bottom of the ocean? oceaaaan!! i answered this in some other game, but i like how mysterious and yet close the ocean is. like proximity wise it’s so near, yet there’s an insane amount we know nothing about. that’s so frightening but so intriguing

10. if you could be any cartoon character, who would you be? my first thought was literally “kirby. eat fast” GOD my followers are gonna think i’m just a glutton and they’re not even gonna be wrong im dying. but uhh idk mulan or smth?

summary Over and under

Heavy footsteps clomped up the pathway, around the back of the house. Sakura stirred a little, but then snuggled deeper under the covers. It could’ve been a number of people. Maybe Kiba crossing through her backyard to get to Shikamaru’s house. Or Asuma dropping off some vegetables at her back door.

“Hey! Wake up!”

The sliding doors in her room banged open, cool air gusting inside.

Sakura bolted upright. But then she fell flat on her back as Itachi climbed over her, shoving her closer to the wall. He grabbed the nearest thing, which happened to be a stuffed animal. Wielding the shiba inu, Itachi stood to face in the intruder.

Kiba stared right back at him, both his hands held out in front of him. The only thing that left his mouth was a stilted “Uhh.”

Kiba tried to avoid looking at Itachi in just his boxers. And then tried to avoid looking at Sakura, who was in the process of wrapping the comforter around herself.

“Hey, Inuzuka,” Sakura sighed. She was encased in a blanket cocoon now, just her face sticking out.

“I thought it was weird you weren’t picking up,” mumbled Kiba, lowering both his hands. Itachi slowly lowered the stuffed animal too.

Kiba rubbed the back of his neck.

“Lemme wait in the living room,” he muttered.

“Good idea,” answered Sakura.

She watched as Kiba left through the shoji doors, onto the terrace. He carefully slid the door shut behind him, clomping around to enter through the front door. Only when she heard the front door shut did Sakura turn to look at Itachi. Who plopped down on the edge of the bed, rubbing his hands through his hair.

“Did you try to defend me with a doll?” she asked.

Itachi, who was already blushing, turned the color of overripe cherries. Sakura climbed out of bed, the comforter still wrapped around herself. She crouched down in front of Itachi, peering up between his hands.

“That was very manly of you. Thank you,” she said. And she kissed Itachi’s cheek before she waddled into the bathroom and shut the door behind her.

When Sakura peeked into the living room a while later, Itachi sat seiza, across the coffee table from Kiba. Neither of them spoke.

“You want coffee, Inuzuka?” Sakura called as she headed into the kitchen.

“Sure.”

She set the tray down on the coffee table. The black coffee she handed to Kiba. She had already added skim milk to the two of the mugs. She set one down in front of Itachi and then another.

“Careful. It’s hot,” she warned Itachi as she settled down next to him.

Kiba eyed her, arms crossed across his chest. Sakura kicked him under the table. He dropped the stern facade and replaced it with a wounded expression.

“Ow,” he complained, rubbing his shin. “This is the thanks I get for waking up at the asscrack of dawn?

“No one asked you to do that,” snapped Sakura in response. And then she drew her knees up to her chest as she stared him down. “What’d you want anyway?”

Lower lip jutting out, Kiba pointed at the cloth bag sitting by the couch. “Ma sent me over with bamboo shoots for you. And then I wanted to hang out for a bit.” The way he drooped made him look remarkably like Akamaru. But Sakura wasn’t moved.

“You’re remarkably sulky for someone who’s been scheming to get us together for.....” Sakura trailed off, looking at Itachi, “...months?” He nodded.

Kiba grimaced, giving a shrug. “Well... it all turned out good, right?”

Sakura answered by flinging her slipper at him. It hit him in the chest. It couldn’t have hurt, but Kiba rubbed at the impact spot anyway. She ignored him, taking an angry slurp of coffee.

Sakura had set out a plate of cookies that Kurenai had baked with Mirai. Kiba took one now. His chewing was the only sound in the living room. He ate another one, eyes darting back and forth between the two people sitting across from him.

“So..... you two living together?” asked Kiba, stealing a glance at Itachi before he looked at Sakura again. He reached for another cookie.

“No,” answered Sakura without an ounce of guilt. “He just slept over.”

“And... uh... you know that you’re my friend, right, Uchiha-sensei?” Kiba then inquired.

Itachi nodded, hands on his knees, elbows straight. Like a child being punished.

Kiba took a bite of the cookie. Then used it to point at Itachi. “And like.... this is all cool. Just like... don’t wanna know those nasty details... because.... y’know...”

Kiba didn’t get a chance to finish speaking. Because Sakura’s other slipper hit him square in the mouth. He lowered the cookie.

“...kay... I’ll stop,” he mumbled before pulling the slipper off his face. He ate the rest of the cookie.

They finished their coffee. Sakura spent a good five minutes threatening Kiba about not blabbing to the rest of town. And in the middle of howling with pain as Sakura squeezed the skin of his upper arm, Kiba swore to keep quiet.

“Damn, Sakura-chan, you’re so violent,” Kiba griped when she released him. She jabbed him in the side.

“Don’t call me that. We’re not six anymore. Also, don’t just barge into my room ever again,” Sakura scolded.

“I just did it to be funny! I didn’t know he’d be there!” whined Kiba as she shoved him out of the house. Bracing her hands against the door frame, she used her foot to push him across the threshold while he pretended to resist.

“Ah, Ma's making ochazuke for dinner if you wanna come over,” Kiba said over his shoulder. For a moment, Sakura stopped pushing him.

“Oh. That sounds good. Yeah, I’m down,” she replied.

Kiba flashed a thumbs up. Until Sakura finished violently banishing him from her house and slammed the door shut behind him.

“I’m going to get a western-style door. And install, like, five locks,” muttered Sakura as she turned and stalked back down the hall.

Itachi was still sitting on the floor of the living room. Looking as pale as death. He had finished his coffee and was currently slurping down hers.

Sighing, Sakura sat next to him. She reached for the last cookie that Kiba hadn’t guzzled down. Biting the tip, she snapped the cookie in half. She offered the other piece to Itachi. He shook his head in a dazed sort of way.

“What were you so nervous for? It was just Inuzuka,” she then asked, knocking into his arm a little. She ate both halves of the cookie as he lowered the mug onto the table with a heavy sound.

“What if I hadn’t been wearing underwear?” whispered Itachi. The horror clear in his voice.

That made Sakura pause. She considered.

“Oh... wow.... ye...yeah, like.... he would’ve gotten an eyeful, I guess,” she decided. And then she looked at Itachi. Who turned his head to finally look back at her. She smiled.

“How long do you think it’ll take him to spill his guts?” she wondered.

“Two days. Tops,” replied Itachi.

“Hm. You have great faith in Inuzuka. I would’ve said one.”

“No. I have faith in his fear of you,” Itachi corrected her. She laughed, head falling onto his shoulder.

Kiba was surprisingly tight-lipped about the whole thing. She hadn’t trusted him to keep his mouth shut around Shikamaru, but it seemed like he kept up his promise. A day passed. Then two. Then a week without incident.

Which was why she had nothing to say when the vet showed up on her doorstep with a kitten. The kitten. Who stared up at her with clear, grey eyes.

“This lil buddy is the only one who didn’t get adopted. So from today, you are cat mom,” announced Kiba.

“I-nu-zu-ka, I cannot raise a cat. It will die,” Sakura enunciated for him. She still accepted when Kiba pushed the kitten into her hands. The kitten began nibbling on her thumb, which tickled more than it hurt.

“She,” Kiba corrected her.

“She will die,” Sakura amended. And then she looked down at the cat. Who peered up at her with those big, shining eyes. Then, the cat began to purr.

Sighing, Sakura returned her attention to Kiba. Who glared at her. It wasn’t strange for Kiba to be stubborn. But usually it was over things like what food to buy or what movie to watch.

“I don’t get it. Why’re you so obsessed with me raising a cat?” she finally asked.

Kiba rubbed the tip of his nose. “Well... cats are great for stress. And they’re really great for people trying to recover from any kind of... loss.” His eyes went shifty at the last part.

“You mean like someone going through a divorce,” Sakura supplied.

“Yeah.”

“And retiring from a career that spanned her entire life.”

“....Yeah.”

Sakura stared him down. And then she stepped aside.

“There’s beer in the fridge, if you want,” she told him.

Kiba walked inside, slipping out of his sneakers. “Is Uchiha-sensei dressed this time?” he whispered. She kicked his right butt cheek.

“He’s not here, you ass,” she retorted.

Slowly, Sakura began posting on social media again.

She started by posting pictures of all the gifts and letters sent to her mailbox. What she received in return was an overwhelmingly warm welcome back. Of course, there were the negative comments, but those were drowned out by the love and encouragement.

Then she began introducing the little idle moments. The cherry blossom tree that bloomed near the high school. The red gates by the train station. The boats floating in the harbor as sunset approached. The little places and the little moments that added up to the town she loved.

Shikamaru handed her a slice of pizza as he settled down on the sofa next to her. Itachi already sat on the other end, blowing on his tea to cool it down.

“Umino-sensei’s birthday is coming up. We should take him out for drinks,” suggested Shikamaru.

“Mmhm,” she agreed, not looking at him. Or the pizza held in her free hand. She continued scrolling down the screen, skimming through the comments. Shikamaru craned his neck to peek too.

“Oi.”

“Huh?”

“How come you don’t post any pictures with us? Not handsome enough for your feed?” he demanded.

Sakura finally looked at him to give a flat “yes” in response.

Before she could react, he snatched the pizza from her grasp.

“Pizza is only for good friends,” declared Shikamaru in retaliation. And he took a huge chomp from the slice.

Sakura looked from her empty hand to her phone. It only took her a few swipes to start a live stream.

“Hi everyone. This is my very handsome, single friend. His phone number is 97-”

Shikamaru ripped the phone from her hand before she could go on. Cackling, she reclaimed her pizza and stuffed the rest of the slice into her mouth.

“You’ll never win, Nara! You might be smart, but I’m evil!” she declared with glee. In the commotion as Shikamaru and Kiba struggled like cavemen to end the video, Sakura fell against Itachi’s shoulder. Just for a moment.

Itachi glanced at their two friends. To confirm that they were fully distracted. And then he snuck in a quick kiss.

When Shikamaru and Kiba looked up, Itachi was sipping his tea again. And Sakura got to her feet muttering, “Gotta wash my hands” as she hurried out of the room to hide her blush.

She got her revenge when Shikamaru and Kiba made clumsy excuses to leave first. Sakura stood in the doorway, waving at the two of them as they made their way down the street to the convenience store. To pick up the soy sauce that Shikamaru’s mother supposedly needed. Sliding the door shut, Sakura tip-toed back into the house.

Itachi stood washing dishes in the kitchen. The running water helped mask the sounds of her movement.

He yelped when her cold hands slipped under his shirt, pressing against his back. The pot slipped from his hands, crashing into the sink. Soap and warm water splashed the front of his shirt, spraying his face.

It was silent as Itachi braced his hands against the side of the counter.

“Whoops,” Sakura said very quietly.

She squealed with laughter as he seized her by the waist. And then he proceeded to splash water at her until her shirt was just as wet as his. When Itachi was satisfied with his vengeance, she grabbed him by the front of his shirt to pull him in for a soapy kiss.

All was forgiven.

Later that night, Itachi lay on his side in her bed. He scrolled furiously on his phone, nose scrunching, hand tucked under his head. The kitten was curled up next to his stomach. The little thing had taken a liking to Itachi. Whenever he came over, it trailed him all over the house. Mewling pitifully outside the bathroom door if he closed it or fighting with his pant leg if he stood still for too long.

Sakura emerged from the bathroom, rubbing her damp hair with a towel. She nudged his foot as she walked past. He smiled but didn’t look at her.

“How does July look right now?” asked Itachi. She hung her towel from the hooks mounted on the door. And then she turned to look at him.

“Hot. Humid,” she replied. That made Itachi laugh as he looked over his shoulder at her.

“Schedule-wise, I meant. Are you busy?” he amended.

Sakura plugged her phone in to charge. She left it on top of her desk.

“No, not particularly,” she answered. She crossed the room and sat on the edge of the bed.

“I think I finally secured a date for an exhibit. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“Wouldn’t miss it,” she assured him.

“I’ll be pretty busy. I might not have as much time to come over until then,” Itachi warned her. He watched her turn off the lamp sitting on the bedside table. He rolled onto his back, stretching his arm across the pillow as she lay down.

“Your arm’s going to fall asleep,” she reminded him. Because it always did.

“Worth it,” he assured her.

She rested her head on his arm, shaking her head a little. “And I’m hardly one to accuse you of working too hard. I’m pretty sure when you look up the word ‘workaholic’ in the dictionary, my picture pops up.” They chuckled in the dark together.

And then, Sakura paused to think. “You need time and space to create, don’t you? Just so you know, I’ll be lonely. I’ll live..... but I’ll be lonely.”

She closed her eyes as he leaned in closer. He kissed her forehead, murmuring, “I’d be a little hurt if you weren’t.”

“You better make some kickass art,” she threatened.

“Yes ma’am.”

The 14th Annual Kim Possible Fannies Awards

Hello, everyone and welcome to another installment of the traditional Kim Possible Fannies Awards. With everyone still recovering from the impact of the live-action movie, let us bask in the pomp and circumstances of the traditional awards ceremony where, who knows what surprises may be in store.

The fanfic is rated T for some strong language and a couple of obscene gestures, a bit of sexual dialogue, a drug reference, and some action violence.

Kim Possible, characters and settings, are created by Schooley and McCorkle and (c) by Disney.

Any OC I create is my own.

Chapter 1 - Kim & Ron vs. the LAM Backlash & Bullying

(July 27, 2019)

This was it.

The day before the annual KP Fannies Ceremony.

After two years on the road that also involved the kidnapping of a co-host AND the leader of a quasi-government police agency, plus an alternate dimension of the KP crew and the whole bru-ha-ha over the live-action movie, the ceremony returned to the Tri-City Convention Center in Middleton. The KP Kimmunity and the Middleton City Council agreed on a four-year deal to host the Fannies at the Convention Center. The presentation itself was going to be held at the Timothy North Memorial Theater.

Everyone was getting ready for all the glitz and glamor of the awards show, especially on which dress the grown KP women were going to wear for tomorrow's event.

At the same time however, something else had bothered the now 31-year old Kim's mind.

In fact, the infamous trip they took to South Dakota last year made their marriage stronger. It's just that they did not want to be associated with the Stoppable Family Vacation Curse, so both Kim and Ron decided to legally change the entire family's last name to put his wife's name first. This year, they had taken a trip to both Hawaii and South Carolina and did not run into any significant problems.

And yet, something else had nagged at her mind for over the last five months.

It was all the hate the LAM had been receiving over the timespan. It was like a big stress ball that Kim was squeezing really and mighty hard but it was about to pop. She didn't say anything about it at all after the February 15th premiere of the LAM. -

"Ron, all of this is getting on my nerves! UGGGGGHHHHHHH!"

"KP, calm down a bit! You're letting this whole thing get to your head!"

Both Kim and Ron Possible-Stoppable were walking down the hall of the convention center. . Ron was in a button down shirt, white tennis shoes and baggy jeans held with a belt. Thankfully for Kim, he was not showing his underwear. She was wearing her favorite dark denim baggy Club Banana overalls. It had holes in the kneecaps, but it had a cargo pocket big enough for Rufus. The left strap was hooked but she unhooked the right strap. It was dangling behind her back so that she liked it 90s style. Plus, she had a green button-down shirt. She also was wearing a gold statement necklace, giant dangling earrings,a ladies watch, two bracelets and a total of five rings, including the wedding band. Kim finalized the outfit with black sneakers.

Rufus, on the other hand, was standing on top of his owner's shoulder.

"I am so not jelly about the criticism of the LAM!" Kim countered at her husband.

"Am too!"

"Am not!"

"Am too...times infinity!" Ron snarked.

"Ughh...got me on the infinity clause!" Kim exclaimed.

"Jinx, I owe you a soda, KP!" Ron said, giving a smile to his wife.

Kim smiled back and got back to the topic at hand.

"Anyways, what pissed me off about the whole criticism starts with the little parts. First off...the look of the LAM's mission outfit!" Kim ranted.

Ron sat down on a nearby crate and began to listen to his wife's rant.

"First off...people complained about the fact that the actress was not wearing a croptop! She is 17 years of age last time I checked. That would be downright creepy! And second thought was that people were comparing it to a Halloween costume! I mean, do they even have a brain cell in that head of theirs? Hell, even I can defeat Shego in that outfit!"

"So said the person that wore croptops to school all the time!" Ron snarked. "And of course, currently owns 25 pairs of baggy overalls."

"Ron..." Kim groaned, "...fashion ideas change between 2003 and today, though I do swear by Club Banana's baggy overalls. I do think the mission pants looked very cute on the actress despite the obvious lack on the pockets."

"I tell ya, KP." Ron said while eating some of the Bueno Nacho catering at the nearby table. "Some people just think with that Dawson's Casting mentality!"

"And that, Ron, will serve as a transition to my second point about this whole criticism BS!" Kim replied, continuing on with her rant, "These so-called quote-en-quote 'fans of my show' thinking that a grown-ass 24 to 28-year old woman would play a FIFTEEN-YEAR OLD GIRL?! Does ANYONE even KNOW what teenagers even look like?!"

"I tell you, these women cannot even grasp what it is even like to be in the shoes of a teenager approaching her very first day of high school!"

Her anger became more apparent.

"The damn nerve of some people to call a teenager a 'crop-top hoe' and a 'bad bitch' really wants me to unleash all my styles of kung-fu against them and send these idiots to the hospital. That is simply a sick and wrong term to describe me and my gender, thank you very much! And this is on the poor girl's first major starring film role! I mean, can't those people just live and let live? They have the animated version that they can watch all the time on the Mouse's new stream thing coming up in November. Let the teens and young kids of THIS generation, including my own, have the LAM!"

"Maybe that was the reason why the trailer for the LAM had more than 160,000 dislikes on the interwebs." Ron said while drowning the Naco in sheer Diablo sauce. Rufus dug into the Naco.

"Getting on to point number three against the LAM backlash, Ron." Kim continued with her rant. "The whole 'me-with-a-secret-identity' thing is complete bullshit!"

"Wow, KP! I have not seen you this salty and potty-mouthed since the South Dakota trip!" Ron exclaimed. He had seen Kim utter even worse words than that during that fateful trip.

"Ron, you know my stance when it comes to this!" Kim said, "Through all of my years of high school, I neither once HAD a secret identity that only, like, two people knew nor did I belong to some secret agency where if I blew my cover I would have to be relocated to another host family! The only time I even was involved in one was because of teamups, though it felt weird working with a platypus wearing a fedora and having that mission wiped out from my memory."

"Wasn't there that one time in your show, KP...?" Ron asked.

"Oh that, Ron?" Kim said, "I remembered that you were the Fearless Ferret at the time under Timothy North, God rest his soul."

"And Mr. North offered you to be Ferret Girl." Ron said.

"But I declined stating that I don't get the whole superhero-secret-identity thing." Kim countered "I made that crystal-clear that everyone: my parents, my friends, my neighbors, hell, even the former team-mates on the Middleton High squad that I was out there saving the world from the bad guys!"

"Yet...some people just don't learn." Ron bemoaned.

"Ugh...and don't even get me started on point number four...THE worst thing of the whole LAM criticism! In actuality, I don't even call it criticism...it is so in the territory of bullying! Again, as I have stated before, the Kim actress was 16 (now 17) when she did the movie! And they bully the poor girl on all her social media sites such as Flitter, InstaPic, and AddressBook! The other thing that annoys the hell out of me is the whole 'my childhood is ruined' shit every time something is rebooted! No, their childhood isn't ruined. They had a childhood, like we did, and it lasted a good while until we got to adulthood!"

"And for those people that have the nerve...the damn audacity...to actually post hateful comments such as killing herself? In my eyes, I do not consider some of them to be 'fans of my show' " Kim replied with air quotes around 'fans of my show" with her fingers. "To me, they should be arrested by the police and sent to jail!"

Taking a deep breath, the redhead added, "My show was supposed to teach kids about friendship and kindness. And in my eyes, the Kim LAM actress is a perfect repesentation of...well...me! She took on those hateful comments with messages of positivity. THAT in all honesty, represents THE true Kim Possible spirit that has been exhibited by some of our good fans in the past, such as the late CPNeb and the late Commander Argus. I loved it! You loved it! Our kids loved it!"

Rufus nodded his head in agreement, belching out what remnants of the Naco there was.

"Even Rufus, the mole rat who did become CGI, loved it! If they are going to target the KP LAM actress, they'll have to get through me first!"

▷ Tale! Alhpys ~

Oh, you are so talented and she can’t believe.Alphys is your fan number one and she always asks commission to you because your arts are the best and she feels like the luckiest and happiest fangirl of the world because she cannot ask for a better sibling. You are her favourite sibling (actually, the only one).She knows this last period you are working on something you haven’t revealed yet, because it’s a surprise and the dino lady is too excited and curios about it. She wants to know!You are working so much so you and her do not see each other so often and Alphys is busy with her job in the lab, too (even if she spends most of her time watching anime instead of working).When you confess to her your idea, she is going to explode because it’s super! Do you really want her to give the voice to your protagonist? Oh, god-!Alphys becomes as red as a tomato because it’s something too weird to listen. She does not think her voice is beautiful and she is too shy to speak in front of people, even if she has not to speak on the air since her voice will be registered. So many people will listen to her and all the Underground will recognize her voice if it appears in a series. At first, she is so reluctant and her shyness is her biggest obstacle but then she accepts only for your sake but you have to explain to her how to do it, she has not idea and any experience.

▶ Fell! Alphys ~

You are the only one who knows about her passion about anime and manga because in the Underground these things are considered childish. Sans always bullies Alphys for this hobby even if he is the one who watches hentai sometimes.Then, she is so busy and lately she is working so much closed in her lab that somebody may think she is dead inside there. You seem busy as well since you are working on your project. When you finally finish, you contact her saying you have an important thing to show her. She acts as if she does not give a shit saying she is busy with her latest invention so she has no time for you. You keep on persevering until she gives up at your request and she invites you at her home so you can show her your fabulous surprise. Then, when you ask for her help that you want her like the main voice of your novel, she is impressed and confused at the same time. She cannot believe you are asking to her something like this. It’s absurd!She has never studied acting so she does not know how she could do this thing, maybe you should ask to Mettaton who is an expert in these things and he can change his voice. Alphys seems so disinterested to it even if she is flattered but she cannot do something like this. Everyone in the Underground will laugh at her and she already did not have a good reputation since it seems she is unable to find an alternative way to break the barrier. If she participate to an anime, it would bring to her so many problems since she has to work for the realm. Even the king would be so angry at her so you should try to understand her. She would like to do it, but she can’t.

▷ Swap! Undyne ~

She has no shame in her passion so you and Undyne spend a lot of time watching anime together. The two of you organize true sleepover and marathon of animes, movies and tv-series, and everything you love. Undy truly loves these things and she is so happy she has a sibling that shares her same hobbies. Before she met you, she felt so alone because it seemed nobody wanted to stay with her. Napstablook was a star and he did not have time to devote to her, Papyrus did not calculate her so much after he stopped to be interested to science, while Alphys stays always with Sans and it seems his company could not be compared to anybody else’s. Undyne was so alone and depressed until you came, bringing some light in her life.The moment you declare to her your plan, she explodes for the emotion and she cannot believe in her ears so you have to explain it a second time until she does not realize you want her to dub your series for real. The scientist fish says yes instantly, it’s too good to be true and she does not know if she will be great enough but she will try putting all her effort and passion for you.She wants to demonstrate to the Underground her true value that she is not only a failed scientist and a weird nerd but she can aspire to something better if she tries with all the determination she got in her soul.

▶ SF! Undyne ~

Here, we have to say the same we have already said for Fell! Alphys since this Underground is crueller than Underfell, so here people cannot be free to be themselves without being humiliated and disowned because the only rule that exists here is “kill or to be killed”. The violence rules the world, and people are alienated so they are unable to follow their hobbies and passions so Undyne is the first that try to stop you from what you are doing because it’s dangerous. If the Queen would find out you are losing your time like this, she could punish you and Undyne does not want it to happen. Maybe when the monsters will reach the surface you will be free to do what you want, even if Undyne is very proud and cold and she will never admit she truly appreciates your job. It needs a lot of time since she is very stubborn and it’s very rare she changes her opinion about something. Her only purpose in life is to break the barrier thanks to her crazy science so she never wastes her time in any other activities and this can be considerate unhealthy and insane. We have to say she has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders since she is substituting the ex-scientist that was a genius and she always feels like a zero compared to him so it’s better if you do not ask her anything. She is very stressed.

I got tagged by @marvelandponder a while ago, but I’m just getting to it now (I’ve been sick, working on some videos etc.)

Rules: List 10 good things that happened in 2016 and then tag 10 friends

Now, marvelandponders list consisted mostly of entertainment related things, and while there were a few good things that happened to me in 2016 (going on more vacations, my parents overcoming sickness, getting closer to you guys) I realized that while 2016 was pretty lousy in places, it was an amazing year for entertainment! Which is why I decided to take a page form her book and talk purely about entertainment. Because that’s what I do best.

Also, 10? 10′s not how I roll. Let’s do 12! But first, keep in mind that there were a few well regarded things in 2016 I haven’t gotten around to watching yet. Like Deadpool, Stranger Things, Moana. In fact, Doctor Strange, one of my most anticipated movies of the year, came out during probably the most stressful time of the year or me. So I couldn’t find the time to go see it. Just a little disclaimer. So, under the cut, there will be My Top 12 (somewhat arbitrarily ranked) Awesome Entertainment Things in 2016! Except for the top 3. Those are less arbitrarily ranked. On with the list!

12- The Ace Attorney Anime

Okay. Full Disclosure. I actually haven’t finished this one yet. I got pretty busy during the Turnabout Goodbye arc and just haven’t gotten back to it. But what I did see was great! Ever since I got into Phoenix Wright in 2014, I have been hoping for an anime. And in 2016, it finally came. I know there are people that have problems with it or just generally don’t like it, and that’s fine. But for me, I had a ton of fun watching what I did of these famous moments from the game come to life, and I thought it was a great adaptation. I do hope it gets an English dub one of these days (maybe by then, I’ll have finished Justice For All)

11- Kung Fu Panda 3

One of my most anticipated movies of the year. And while this was a pretty stellar year for animated movies (for the most part), I tried not to forget the badass-itude that was Kung Fu Panda 3. Anyone who loved the first two installments is not going to be disappointed. Giving the same level of comedy, emotional depth, incredible action and wonderful animation that at first we wouldn’t expect form something called “Kung Fu Panda”, but now we wouldn’t expect anything less.

10 - La La Land

One of the perks of procrastinating on this list is that I got to see La La Land before I finished this. And I’m glad I did, because this movie is as good as everyone says it is. It’s a visually stunning film that manages to embody the spirit of classic musicals right in the middle of 2016. A lot of us thought it wasn’t possible to carry that style into a modern setting, but this movie does it so gracefully that I hope others give it a try. And as someone who is a big fan of those musicals, it was right up my alley. But it also has a wonderful message behind it that rings true to anyone who tries to pursue something in a creative field. I won’t say too much more for fear of spoiling it, but it’s a wonderful film. It’s as good as everyone says it is, and like the ads are saying, if you’ve seen it already, see it again!

9- Kubo and the Two Strings

One of the most underrated movies of the year! This was a movie that was incredibly well done but insanely difficult to market. Seriously, if you’ve seen the movie, you probably know what I mean. You cannot go 10 minutes into this thing without giving something major away. What I can say is if you know those people who think animation is just for kids, and can’t do anything deep and impactful, show then this. It’s a beautiful film in animation, storytelling and performances. I personally have a bit of a problem with the ending, but that’s just me. Everything else about it is marvelous, and I’m glad people hyped it up enough to encourage me to check it out.

8- The People vs O.J. Simpson

Now this may seem like a weird addition to this list, but there is a reason this mini series is winning every award ever. And watching this was, an interesting experience for me, because I saw it with my Mom, and it was like watching this very well done series through two different lenses. I knew about as much as any millenial does about the OJ trial, but my Mom lived through it, and recognized moments throughout the trail and the broadcasts they were re creating. While I was just stunned at the kind of things that happened during this trial, my Mom was able to validate that yes, that is how it happened. This is one of those shows where if they didn’t do this as well as they did, it was going to crash and burn, but they pulled it off gracefully, and that’s why it deserves all the awards.

7- Steven Universe: Bismuth

I decided that unless a show began and ended in 2016, I could only include one episode from it, and as great as Steven Universe was this year, none compared to this one for me. The 100th episode of any show is sure to be a big one, and while Bismuth isn’t exactly a spectacle or a celebration of the show reaching this milestone, it is an amazingly well done episode that may be one of the most well crafted stories in the show (and that’s saying a lot). It brings the same level of quality that any other SU episode does, but it goes above and beyond, bringing twists and new perspectives that are still effecting the show today. I really can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet, because I have a lot to say about this one. But for now, let’s move on to…

6- Finding Dory

With all of the amazing animated movies we had this year, Finding Dory seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle. And that’s kind of a shame, because it does something that is an immediate red flag for most, putting the comic relief in the spotlight, and actually delivers a well made movie that can be compared well with the original. While I had been waiting for this movie for a while, I was hoping for it to be pretty good, and what I got was a great time that delivered all the feels. Seriously, there are some heart breaking moments in this movie. But what else do you expect form Pixar at this point?!

5- Captain America: Civil War

Oh my God! This movie was everything I wanted it to be and so much more! The fact that this movie borrowed a premise from one of the most despised comic book arcs in modern history, and managed to fulfill all of the untapped potential while building on all of the previous Marvel movies and was able to introduce new characters and get us to feel just as much for them as we do for the other Avengers we’ve known for years is astounding! Take that Batman v Superman! This may be the most well balanced Marvel movie so far. You understand both sides of the conflict, everyone has well thought out and understandable motivations, the action is some of the best in the franchise, and if it turns out that this is the last Captain America movie in the MCU, I would be 100% okay with that.

4- Zootpoia

I actually wasn’t anticipating this movie that much. But by the time I saw it, it had gained quite the reputation of being a wonderful film with a fascinating world, fleshed out main characters, and gracefully addresses social political issues in a family film. And after finishing it, I couldn’t agree more. I’ll be really surprised if Zootopia doesn’t win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. This is one of Disney’s best (and again, that’s saying a lot), and it’s such an important movie that still manages to be a fun buddy cop movie. It’s not preachy. It doesn’t talk down to it’s audience. It was a risky move, but it paid off miraculously.

3- Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

Yeeaaahh. No surprise here. Of course the Sherlock Christmas special that takes these characters back to their Victorian roots with tons of callbacks, an engaging mystery, and deep character exploration was going to make it here. I was so, so excited for this, being the big Sherlock Holmes geek I am, but this special actually managed to be so much more then it was advertised to be. I don’t want to spoil it, but I have reviewed this episode, and I gave it a glowing review. It’s one of my new favorite episodes, and given how much competition it had, that’s an achievement.

2- Pokémon Sun & Moon

Well, duh. I could have put Pokémon Go in this spot, since it made Pokémon a worldwide name again (for better or for worse), but I decided to go with Sun and Moon. Not only was anticipation for this game a ton of fun, with the excitement for each new Pokémon and feature that was announced being contagious, but the game itself was so much fun. Yes it takes forever to get to the actual gameplay. Yes there is a lot of hand holding in the first half. But this is probably the most experimental main series Pokémon game I have ever seen. And it really pays off. There are so many new features I love, the story was engaging, the environment, the Pokémon, the journey, it was just so much fun. What a great game to mark Pokémon's 20th anniversary.

#1- Gravity Falls: Take Back the Falls

Of course it’s Take Back the Falls! How could it not be Take Back the Falls? This may have been the most nervous I have ever been for a series finale. This was going to decide for me if Gravity Falls was going to become my new favorite show, and I had no clue how they were going to conclude this amazing show. But this was such a wonderful conclusion that had all of the action, intrigue, and emotional stakes it needed to, while giving us a wonderful goodbye to this place and these characters we had come to know and love for 3 years.

And a lot of my friends here on the internet I made through a connection with Gravity Falls. So to be able to celebrate what a wonderful and satisfying finale this was with those people made it all the more meaningful to declare Gravity Falls my favorite show.

So those are my Top 12 Favorite Entertainment things in 2016. I am so sorry that it took so long and that it’s very long and rambly. If anyone else wants to share their favorite things about 2016, I tag you! So feel free to write them up.

ADDENDUM: Okay, real quick. I finally saw Arrival last night, and oh my God! That movie is amazing. I didn’t want to kick any of these things off the list, so consider this an honorable mention. If you want some high concept science fiction and a different take on the first contact story, see this movie! I don’t want to spoil anything, so that’s all I’ll say. SEE IT!
