It’s been about one month since Aaron Bushnell, active duty serviceman, immolated himself in front of the DC Israeli embassy.
Today the UN called for a “non-binding” (qualifier added by US) ceasefire for the remainder of Ramadan (~two weeks). Meanwhile, yesterday Biden unilaterally approved another 3 billion dollars to be sent to Israel, begging the question, will Israel truly abide by a ceasefire?
In the past (years, not since Oct 7) ceasefires have been enacted, which Hamas and Palestinian Authority have respected, but Israel meanwhile would continue to control Gaza’s water, food & medical access, and yes, inflict violence upon Palestinian peoples. Knowing this, what is the incentive for Hamas to abide by a false ceasefire? when Israel now continues to murder children, rape women and cripple a population indefinitely.
Today I found my first real bit of info re: the Arab Spring of 2011. I worked within a large box bookstore at this time and through my years there, I was unable to find any literature on this topic. It’s been about 6 years and this may have changed, but typing “Arab Spring” into the billion dollar search function, there were NO RESULTS. This doesn’t mean the info wasn’t out there, somewhere, only that access wasn’t condoned, and academic thought was likely restricted (or … that’s how I understand it).
This is the podcast I found today and learned from. The show “Throughline” is really worthwhile in its entirety, but this episode shows us the power of social media and organizing dissent. On this near- anniversary of Aaron Bushnell political and radical act, I think a lot about the man in Tunisia who self immolated in January of 2011. His name was Mohamed Bouazizi, and his death sparked the Arab Spring,
Find it here.

As we continue our campaign to #SaveShadowAndBone and greenlight the #SixOfCrowsSpinoff, we want to take a moment to reaffirm our support for both shows. At times there may be differing opinions about our campaign efforts, but our official stance remains clear: we are stronger together.
While each fan may have their own favorite storylines and characters, it's important to remember that our collective efforts as the Third Army have brought us this far. Together, we have shown incredible strength and solidarity in our mission to keep the Grishaverse alive on-screen.
Some may argue for a split in focus, but we firmly believe that united, our efforts are far more impactful. Divided, we risk diluting the strength of our campaign and diminishing our chances of success.
Our unity as a fandom—as the Third Army—is our greatest strength, and together, there is so much we’ve achieved and so much more we will achieve. Thank you all for your incredible support and unwavering commitment. Let’s keep pushing forward. Together, we will save our shows!

If you identify as any form of lgbtqia+ and have been made to feel like you don't belong in this community by other queer people, just know that I am gripping you by the shoulders and I am telling you that you belong, I am telling you that you're queer and you're incredible, I am giving you every kind of affection you enjoy to tell you that YOU BELONG.
If you ever doubt yourself, you come back here and I will remind you of how amazing you are all over again, because you are one of us and you deserve to feel accepted within your own people.

Revolutions are not peaceful. That would not make them revolutions… whatever you can do to showcase your solidarity, by all means. Please do it. Sharing links, posting, using hashtags, commenting on videos to boost the engagement, marching in the streets, boycotting. Trust me, it all makes a difference. This is nothing in comparison to what the people of Palestine have experienced. We can do it. We are on the cusp on global change. Watch and learn. Get fucking angry when you see these college kids get tackled to the ground. They’re braver than every single member of congress. This is history in the making. This is a cycle. Do your research before you condemn these students. We saw this happen during the civil rights movement, protesting the Vietnam war etc. Keep in mind who was labeled as terrorists. Fuck the systemic racism. Fuck a colonial system. Fuck apartheid.

Another long post
I really need us in the US to start thinking outside of the box on how we protest. Im making this post in hopes that it will inspire the people who can protest make everyone’s voices heard.
Our government choose not to listen to us anymore. Maybe our local government takes an earbud out once in awhile to keep us just starved enough to beg for more but overall they’re not listening. We have to start thinking bigger and more disruptive
Marches, and signs, and rallies have completed the first step which is awareness. Everyone at least knows about Palestine. Weather they care is a whole different post that I could make. But the people who haven’t listened are the ones at the top. They don’t feel the need to listen to our voices because we pretty much do nothing for them. Calling hasn’t worked because they already know what’s coming. Faxing them hasn’t worked because it wastes paper and they now what’s coming. Emailing doesn’t work because they know what’s coming and send it to junk. So what do we do? Part of me knows what we should do but another part knows the message gets tainted and the only real change we would achieve is more overcrowded prisons. I refuse to lose hope because that how we really die but I’m hitting a wall wondering not only what I can do but what we all can do?
I refuse to believe that all we can do is go to rallies and call and vote. If one solution doesn’t work than what other ones can we try? What have we learned?
Please start cracking open history books again and read and take notes and talk with one another.
I’m done with the talk that school teaches us nothing important. Schooling teaches us exactly what we should be applying right now. Crack open a book on the civil rights movement and study what techniques everyone used to disrupt. Discuss with your friends and community about it
Please god start talking to your community and making connections!!!!
The days keep passing and no change is getting done and this is how we do it. We all build a communal team to help solve problems
It’s seriously time to stop thinking about ourselves and more about the people around us and how we can help. It’s seriously time we think linearly all the time and connect with the minds around us. We are so much greater than we give ourselves credit for. You reading this post can do it and make a difference you just have to commit.
I’m not giving up hope because that’s how we truly die. We can absolutely change you just have to stick with it no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Once we connect with the people around us we can become a force of change that can eventually shake the country. So please start talking with your community. Talk to yourself and see what you can offer or who you can team up with and offer your skills. We are greater than what our government wants us to be.
We can do this

As much as Lakewood Church and I have our differences, no one deserves to be attacked in a place of worship ever.

Tumblr was not saying things about aces for funsies, ace people kept making comics about not being let into the queer club by Mean Dykes but that these dykes let gays in "just because they were called faggot once". Or posts about an STD apocalypse that only minors and aces will survive to fight the STD zombies.
And that justifies essays on how the term Aphobia was coined by Someone Who Is Bad Actually And Therefore Does Not Exist? The ~actual~ medical abuse and “corrective” rape? Monologues about How Aces and Aros Actually Aren’t Queer And Do Not Belong? The push back against non-club and bar Queer spaces cuz those are the only places queers have belonged, even though growth of a physical community is good and queers may be recovering alcoholics, have sensory issues, and may just not enjoy the scene and still deserve a place to belong (also you can go to more than one place)?
The entire Ace and Aro community was vaporized in a summer here, and that directly affected the physical. The black rings, the dragons, the cakes, the memes. All gone from queer tumblr for years cuz tumblr said there is actually something wrong with being Ace and Aro. No one should be saying those ideas you’ve mentions are good. Ignorant, just like No Kink At Pride. Why would a whole subsection be ignorant, except because queer history is constantly under threat of being erased. How we don’t have internet elders. Folks have *always* been asexual and aromantic, it just wasn’t called that. Sometimes it wasn’t called anything. But right now? The greater society calls it Broken and Wrong. Any of that Sound familiar?
The virtual queer community is constantly trying to eat itself due to poisonous voices. This time it just was successful. And I’m old enough and stable enough now to try and stop it from happening again.

I will never forget the feeling of wearing my leather jacket proudly proclaiming that I'm part of "queers on bikes" motorcycle club into truck stops in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and rural Illinois in 2018 and watching the asshole truckers with their maga caps steer clear of me out of respect (and maybe some fear)

Those damn cis women! They’re so privileged even when their rights are being taken away!
oh no!! someone pointed out how they as a community are being excluded from a problem that directly affects them and are asking to be remembered and included in conversations about said problem!!
