bro is it me or people don’t really understand why lwj received the 33 lashes

#im looking at the lastest wangxianficrecs post and like #someof them have it be ''it's an au where lwj fell in love with wy and received the 33 lashes and punishment'' or smth like that #AND I'M JUST.... GUYS #DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT LWJ DID??? #and it's even worse when people try to paint gusu lan as being cruel and unreasonable for it. GUYS #what lan wnagji did was treason. you know what a common punishment for treason was? lingchi (death by a thousand cuts) #LWJ knew exactly what he was risking when he saved WWX and attacked his own elders. HE KNEW. AND HE WAS WILLING ANYWAY!! #don't underestimate his devotion!!! LWJ KNEW HE COULD BE EXECUTED AND HE DID IT ANYWAYS #and honestly. if he was ANYONE other than hgj he would have been. the whole reason the elders were attacked #is because they were trying to bring him back before the cultuivation world found out about his betrayal #EXACTLY SO HE WOULDNT GET EXECUTED #his response was to turn around and commit treason against his own family and the ppl who were trying to save him! #AGAIN. Not a tumblr, but there is a MXTX Events Discord run by the illustrious @wrecklwj with an excellent tri-fandom calendar

Over on dreamwidth, the pan-fandom fandomcalendar tracks submitted events, and they've got a tag for the MDZS Universe and another for all MXTX that I personally would love to see more used

As you mentioned, @wangxianficrecs is not an event tracker, but they do boost fandom events

Similarly, if it's a polyshipping MDZS event, you can bet I'll plug it on @polyshipweek

This is not something Lan Zhan chose, this is not even an accident, this is an intentional violation and none of the sounds or questions or wide-eyed glances Lan Zhan is giving him are his choice.

And besides, it's not like Wei Ying is in any big rush to find himself a girlfriend either. It’s all working out great!

Finally, someone else would be the butt of everyone’s jokes as they watched Wei Ying constantly try and fail to get Lan Zhan’s attention. When midterm grades came out, Su She was expecting the guy to be humiliated. That was… not what happened. Worse still, Lan Zhan was now actually turning his head to look at the guy when he spoke. And... wait, was Lan Zhan… putting his hand on the guy’s ass?! No. Su She does not accept this.

I love historical aus and Greaser!WWX with GoldenBoy!LWJ is one we know well, butI love this fic for all the heart it has and the way it covers setting-typical homophobia. Wangxian get a happy ending and then the epilogue at the end really just made me feel all kinds of feelings about being queer. @gentil-minou

The way this author made the story of the Scarlet Pumpenel fit in mdzs is, in my opinion, masterful. The arranged marriage is built on devastating misunderstanding after devastating misunderstanding, but the identity shenanigans are so fun! Other highlights include Jiang sect love and wangxian adopting not only A-Yuan but MXY as well. So much fun and an epic adventure! @gentil-minou

(Your basic point stands, though: there are a thousand and three ways to contribute to fandom. Heck, one of the most beloved participants in MDZS fandom was a prolific anon commenter who may not even have had an AO3 account.)

Also, you're referring to WangxianFan, right? They vanished shortly after I entered the fandom, so all I ever knew of them was the huge vaccuum they left behind, and the fandom-wide grief and anger that they'd been bullied away. They left a big mark!

I follow wangxianficrecs and wangxianficfinder; would you like me to suggest MDZS/Untamed sports AUs directly here to you or on those Tumblrs? And do you include fantastic sports? (I’m thinking, for example, of the likes of I feel like I win when I lose, by so_shhy (#27197516) and and so my heart beats wildly by lily_winterwood (#17426555), modern AUs which portray cultivational martial arts and night-hunting as Olympic sports.)
