5. What do you think is the most character-defining c!Dream scene?

I'm going to be more general than a single scene, mostly because my analyst days are long behind me. I'd say c!Dream throughout the daedalus arc.

A little late in the timeline and there are probably way better and obvious choices (maybe the revival book montage) but I'll stick with this one.

I think these scenes are the closest we ever were to a c!Dream pov. My mental recollection of these scenes sometimes has Dream looking at Sam in Minecraft instead of the other way around. They are very private moments between c!Dream and c!Sam without the extreme power imbalance that other scenes with them had.

We got the reveal that c!Dream wanted to sleep in the prison cell even after he escaped. We got c!Dream free but freshly out of hell, hiding things from c!Sam, keeping The Plan and c!Punz safe but letting some things slip, revealing some things because it felt good to make c!Sam see how wrong he was about him.

We saw c!Dream kill c!Sam but ultimately, let him go. We saw c!Dream let c!Sam leave.

20. What are some of your favourite pieces of c!Dream analysis?

23. To what extent are you a c!Dream apologist?

If we are talking Seriously™, all the things he did to c!Tommy and others are unforgivable, and the stunt he pulled with the boomers is straight out of a horror movie. Any good intentions he has will always be stained black by his completely fucked up morality.

If we're not talking Seriously™, then he suffered a thousand times more than Jesus. He quite literally never did anything without a logical or justifiable reason, and all the crimes he's accused of are greatly exaggerated for the purpose of dehumanizing him and using him as a scapegoat for everything wrong with the server and all its other members.

I think he should be loved like he deserves by like half of the server At Least, starting with c!Sam in this essay I will-

No because I'm serious, c!Sam is just a mentally ill puppycat (he has ocd) who placed his loyalty on the server when he shouldn't have, and just has to learn he can let himself love c!Dream like he's fighting tooth and nail not to!!!

As you can see canon and arguing about morality doesn't serve me At All and I couldn't care less if my meow meow tortures people and is Extremely Weird About, first of all why do you think they're my meow meow in the first place, second of all it's literally all in Minecraft my meow meows aren't hurting anyone irl Calm Down Everyone Let Me Have My Fun!

24. When/how did you become a c!Dream apologist?

Early 2021. The first big dream smp stream I watched was Doomsday from Techno's pov so I was not that invested in clingy duo's fate during the disk finale, I just wanted to Take It All In and enjoy the spectacle aka Dream's performance. Then, the very first prison visit got me Interested, and the subsequent c!Ranboo lore streams got me Hooked. I was big into endersmile then, but I slowly transitioned to being more focused on the prison arc as a whole as well as the prison trio.

This animation was definitely a turning point to my interest in the character. Made my brain invested in c!Dream's mental state and well-being, which means I would never again be a c!Dream casual and would from that point on be a c!Dream apologist <3

absolutely bestie I have So Many Thoughts about it <3

firstly: I can't really take a picture of it for obvious reasons,, but in the beginning when Barnacles is telling Peso about how he steers the Octopod through storms, very serious music plays and I feel like that's important to note. Barnacles has a fear of storms (/hc), and the music is trying to tell us that by implying that this is very serious to him, because if he doesn't do it his crew could get hurt, or worse, and he can't let that happen. Not again.

Okay I love this so much lol- When Barnacles hears the Octo-alert, he instinctively begins saying his "Octonauts! To the—" line, because it's part of his routine and he's intentionally programmed it into himself. Here we see that Kwazii has a subconscious Pavlovian response to the Octo-alert—because even in his completely delirious and sick state, he still tries to get up and go to the launch bay. He's so weak that Peso pulls him down with ease but gosh darnit he's still gonna try. Amazing xD

I want a pep-talk from Captain Barnacles.

Also the serious music is back in this scene! This moment is very serious and important, Barnacles not only has a fear of storms, but a terrible fear of not being in control, too. He's probably really stressed right now, but he trusts Peso so much. He truly does believe in him.

(I also think it's hilarious that Barnacles has his paw bandaged. EVERYONE got stung in the paw—that snail has some killer aiming skills—but Barnacles is the only one wrapped up. if you remember, you'll notice it's the same paw that got stung in The Jellyfish Bloom. Peso probably had Flashbacks™ and was like ".... gimmie that paw. *aggressively bandages*")

"Trust yourself" isn't in the manual because it's not something Barnacles can teach. It's something Peso must learn to do by himself. aaaaaAAA thought formulation abilities not responding, go read my Peso analysis xD

THIS MAN. THIS. MAN. This man couldn't even sit up a minute ago. Meaning this mAN! CRAWLED!! up to HQ all the way from the med-bay. and still got there in time to save Peso. Then he literally throws his entire body onto it because he's too weak to do anything else- which honestly?? reminds me Way Too Much of how soldiers sacrifice themselves by jumping on top of bombs to save their friends. Like. Dude. I Am Thinking So Much.

The Curious Case Of The Most UST Filled Tetanus Shot In History

that time Danny walked in on Steve about to administer himself a tetanus shot after a dive into dirty canal water

because you can always count on Steve to find an excuse to take his clothes off at work

and Danny freaked out disproportionately because he was NOT prepared for Steve to just drop his pants in front of him out of blue, at least give him the decency of two to three business days of warning (sexual frustration always makes him extra aggressive)

Steve, who was still pouting over Danny not joining him for a swim in that canal, suggested Danny look away or cover his eyes

unsurprisingly despite his loud (for show) complains Danny does NOT look away during the money shot

not only that but the entire time after as Steve proceeded to fasten his pants back up

Danny's eyes kept straying and wandering 👀 (which made it all the most obvious that his earlier protests were to save face/for show)

he was fighting for his life trying to focus on the conversation about the suspect

all in all, extremely heterosexual™ happenings at the office feat. Steve and Danny, as usual

that time steve and danny went to a party full of Victoria secret models yet they only had eyes for each other

steve was especially worried about leaving danny alone with them, but all danny did was talk about his daughter, and, again, in a room full of world's top models it's steve danny is quite literally thirsting over ↓

but even a bigger sign that steve has nothing to worry about? danny leaves grace, his precious baby girl his entire heart and life, in steve's care the entire time ↓

(as an aside how cute is it that steve just holds gracie's hand the whole time before she is handed off to the models for them to fawn over her)

notice how danny doesn't even have to check up on her/constantly look at her (which is saying a lot considering how overprotective he is) because he trusts steve that much. he is the worthy co-parent in danny's eyes and there's no bigger testimonial over how steve is the only one for danny.

they really did look like a couple who only took their daughter to a fancy party because she would enjoy it, not to ogle the models themselves, because that's what they are, de facto. (two outstanding heterosexuals amirite? ;))

they are just oblivious to that fact and insecure/jealous because they wouldn't be steve and danny otherwise.

Danny's face is one giant heart-eye here, but also notice Steve's tiny little touched smile because Danny just said he loves him so casually. It never gets old, Steve never gets tired of hearing it.

Even in the direst of circumstances Steve makes Danny smile, that's love. In the olden times, Steve's willingness to risk his life would have caused a rant but now Danny's so deep in it he just grins fondly at Steve being Steve.

I'll go through the door first, if it makes you feel any better.

Even if Steve wasn't essentially saying 'I love you' back in different words, his entire face is just a soft litany of 'I love you I love you I love you'.

the way camera keeps cutting away to them when love is mentioned

whose love? what are you trying to say to us with this editing? 🤔 the way episodic tv works is we have the main characters and the episodic characters and usually the storylines episodic character get are meant to parallel what is going on in life of the mains or teach them a lesson or help them come to a decision.

this episode already has drawn parallels between aunt Deb and Steve, and her relationship to Bob with Steve's 'not-marriage' to Danny. and then they keep cutting away to them during the marriage ceremony with some of the wedding vows written as if about Steve and Danny's relationship ('I can't even remember my life before you came along and changed everything.')

again, camera firmly on them at 'my one in a million and all I want is...' the way that sentence ends is, I am not kidding ↓

'...to be your husband'. 'you are my one in a million and all i want is to be your husband'.

'you are my one in a million and all I want is to be your husband.'

that is the message they are sending while intercutting the newlyweds with Steve and Danny, only to end everything on a shot of very emotional Steve, close to tearing up, as if highlighting that we are seeing it from his POV.

if you think they are some pirated automatic captions that mean nothing, well

here's the kicker, 100% official approved.

the story of Aunt Deb is hopeful despite circumstances, that happiness can be found when you least expect it, and everyone has their own, unique

paradise. Hawai'i is commonly referred to as a 'tropical paradise', Danny famously called it 'pineapple-infested hellhole', it only gained the positive meaning for Steve and Danny after they found each other.

Steve and Danny really went to a wedding together and were constantly edited to parallel the newlyweds-to-be. Anyone may argue that I'm just reading into things but it's a fact that nothing on TV is accidental. Someone made all those choices that could be interpreted this way and I find that very interesting indeed. 😏

that one time steve and danny took a sidebar at a crime scene for some eye-sex and emotional bonding

nbd, just eye-humping each other next to a bunch of barrels filled with corpses, it being a dumping ground for yakuza and all, like normal people.

danny asks steve how things are going with his mother but that doesn't stop him from checking him out in the process, multitasking is a skill.

he's particularly good at doing it when steve is distracted ↓

↑in case we forget, mcgarrett doesn't have monopoly on heart eyes.

only steve and danny can have unparalleled levels of romantic tension while standing at a crime scene filled with dead bodies and discussing the antics of steve's wayward spy mother.

steve tells danny about doris breaking into the fbi database, but danny astutely asks him if steve is more upset about that or the fact that she is in trouble, because he knows his man and his big heart.

steve is definitely conflicted because he knows he should be less forgiving of doris but he can't help it, his need to fix things.

'look, look, it's none of my business, alright? but whatever she did, so what? she's your mother, she's in trouble and you gotta help her, right?'

doesn't matter what he personally thinks about doris, danny knows steve, so he gives him approval to do what he wanted to do, aka help his mother, no matter what she has done. sure he could have preserved his dignity or whatever but danny knows if steve doesn't help her and something bad happens he will never forgive himself, so he takes pressure off of steve/absolves him of his doubt.

danny essentially plays a function of a sin-eater for steve in this instance which prompts him to give danny one of the most intense and longest looks ever, because he cannot adequately put everything he's feeling into words.

steve: danny is too good for this world and precious and boy do I love him so much but I can never tell him so I'm just gonna bore holes in the fabric of time with my gaze. who cares about the barrels with corpses anyway?

something i noticed at the end of 3x23 when danny says he didn't figure steve for someone who geeks out about magic tricks, but he guesses it makes sense because 'magic and secrets go together' to which steve asks, faux nonchalant, 'what's your point?' that's when danny 'muses' out loud

yeah, totally innocent and natural segue, not trying to find out vital information or anything, very subtle ;)

steve, as expected, turns into a beautiful marble statue, gives away nothing, doesn't even move a muscle nor blink

which is telling in itself, cause, oh yeah, you don't know a pretty major thing about him, danny, and he is still terrified of giving it away.

because the universe is cruel to steve this is the exact moment it reminds him why there is something very major he absolutely cannot tell danny because they get interrupted by a call from gabby (which danny screens, btw).

the subtle eye movement being the only reaction is pretty impressive (he is trained to withstand torture, after all).

even though danny ends up pressing ignore the crisis is averted because the topic of conversation is shifted off of steve's secrets. and neither of them get what they want.

danny: *hopeful* is there something you are not telling me? i want to know.

steve: no, you don't, and look at that, the reason why is calling.

obviously this episode is a gift that keeps on giving, case in point: i just noticed something

yep, Ricky calls Steve 'playboy' (!!!) but question is, are there any women in sight for Steve to 'play' with??? Nope. In fact, the only other person around is Danny, supposedly Agnes' nephew, who actually has an innocent reason to be here, unlike Steve.

What, pray tell, then, merits such a moniker for Steve? Why, I'm glad you asked. Remember how they met earlier? What state he saw them in?

That's right! A thoroughly debauched Danny, and Steve, looking proud and cocky with his handiwork, like a relaxed cat that destroyed that pot of cream.

House-sitting a one bedroom apartment isn't exactly a two men job, from an outsider's perspective Danny is the only one who had a legitimate reason to be here which means Steve is there to....help him pass the time. A good time from the looks of them, and seeing as when he came in they hastily hid something under a blanket

who knows what kind of toys they might have been hiding. As far as Ricky's concerned apparently Mr. Playboy earned his title ravishing Agnes' nephew.

Mrs. Tennenbaum may have thought they were just a regular boring married couple but from Ricky's perspective he could have interrupted some really kinky sexitimes, and unlike with Ruth, not even finding out they are cops technically disabuses him of that notion.

no thoughts just Steve automatically looking at Danny when Danny talks about acting crazy out of love and doing big insane gestures because he is that person for him, the one that makes him crazy in love

just so you know, Danny doesn't talk about love in general like love of family etc but specifically being stupid and gullible and desperate to believe what you want to believe even if logic dictates otherwise and being willing to do anything to gain the favour of the person who is the object of your romantic love ↓

all those times Danny called Steve out on acting crazy, all the things Steve has done (and will do) that seemed like too much, Danny has never made the connection, he's still out there talking about how Steve isn't a romantic and doesn't want commitment.

(imagine Danny one day going on one of his usual rants 'why would you do this?? it's not like you are in love with me, are you?' and Steve just looks down and, finally, Danny has that lightbulb moment 'oh...you are'.)

I know the show wasn't trying to portray Steve as canonically madly in love with Danny but they succeeded anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️
