"So," says Valtteri as he sits down, "there have been rumors. About you and me."

Lewis gives him a sidelong glance, the corner of his mouth twitching like he's trying not to smile. "Have there?"

Valtteri nods. He opens his mouth to reply, but then Kevin walks past with a muttered "Hi" and he waits until they have privacy again. "Did you know," he says, deliberate, "that apparently we are dating. Have been for a while, actually."

Lewis gives in to the urge, and smiles like he knows something Valtteri doesn't. "Is that so?"

The room is filling up; they have only a couple of minutes before the GPDA meeting starts. Valtteri leans in closer to Lewis, into his space, until he can smell his fancy perfume. "It is," he says. "I wonder who started the rumors?"

Lewis straightens a little in his seat, so that he is now leaning into the arm Valtteri has got slung across the back of it. He looks down at the Mercedes team shirt Valtteri is wearing, then at the Alfa Romeo shirt he's got on. His smile when he finally looks back up at Valtteri is wider, bright with amusement. "I wonder," he says, and laughs.

Jeddah gp 2022

i just love the whole thing, how lewis outperformed max and how val got esteban right at the finish line to win the constructor's championship 8th time in a row. because i love you, i even watched the netflix episode about it, and it's full of lewis praising valtteri and val saying "i think me and lewis may be the best teammates in formula 1". my lovely lovely merc boys :) also, the video of valtteri asking about lewis here - i melt.

basically the whole Valtteri running after Lewis to congratulate him on the podium, merc admin publishing the picture of the hug for wallpaper wednesday, lewis sharing it to his insta, their first race not as teammates after 5 years and its just. idk. soft ffs, so soft.

the progression of their relationship and friendship

i mean, if you look at the grill the grid videos, it's really heartening to see. there was a video i stumbled on while i was watching stuff on yt for, uh, science, and they were asking lewis "this or that" questions. and it was around 2017 i think, and they asked him "jenson or valtteri" and he was like "i dont care", and you can see how tired he is from the questions and how much his last teammate fucked him up. and then we come to the 2021, and this video, and you can see how their relationship has evolved. also, the whole joking around and stuff in 2022. just. i love that val was there and that they managed to become friends after what went down up to 2016. :)

ok so. if you follow me lol then you know how i feel about valewis. but they’re just so. beloved. like the care and time that they both put into their relationship to get to the level of trust n respect that they’re now at ??? wild. it took YEARS. and they’re so quiet about it. they don’t need to say they love each other. they just look after the other one (val at jeddah watching lewis. lewis nearly missing the podium in 2018 to check up on val). it’s soft moments through the years. playing video games and giggling over beaver’s dick sizes. and valtteri drinking his coffee in his motorhome so he can sit and listen to lewis sing through the walls and lewis suffering through drinking coffee just to make val smile !!! 🥺🥺 the soulmate core of it. the drift compatibility (did i steal this from @hungerpunch. yes i did. you are so correct for this btw). they are the epitome of what happens when you find your person? oh you hold onto them and you love them and you will never be alone 🤧🤧🤧
