Keith’s mentor, Krolia, has always warned him from the very beginning: show mercy to a vampire and you’re dead.  They’re snakes, they’re liars, they’ll kill you if you’re stupid enough to ever give them a chance.  As a beloved member of the Blade, Keith’s lived by this.  He’s never had any reason to question Krolia.  She’s always told him how his family was killed by them, after all.

Keith’s a good fighter.  Krolia’s trained him into the perfect weapon.  But when a newly turned vampire doesn’t fight back, Keith hesitates, and to hesitate is to be killed.  But the vampire doesn’t hurt him.  The vampire saves his life instead.  And from that moment on, Keith is gone.

Maybe vampires aren’t as bad as he thought.  Maybe Keith’s not who he thought he was.  Maybe Krolia’s been lying to him all along.

When the laboratory in which Keith is held is shut down, Shiro, an ex-hunter, agrees to keep him after the twenty-eighth amendment is repealed - in other words, vampires are one step closer to being treated as humans. Though only considered to be half of what a human is, Keith reveals he has much more depth than thought capable for vampires.

When one obstacle comes after another, Keith finds himself regretting being allowed into society. It's better than the laboratory, but only barely. Speciesism and violence against vampires frighten him, and Shiro's small apartment becomes a little safe-haven in time, but Keith doubts it will be enough to protect him from a brewing storm.

Keith lost both of his parents to consumption, and set out on his own to escape the tragedy of his past. But tragedy has a way of finding everyone anyway, and, often, consumes us all.

@vagrantbreath ~ as per challenge ;) , distracted Allura, having ‘Oh no, she’s hot’ trouble with genderfluid Keith. 

An ‘Oh no, she’s hot!’ face is really difficult XD Allura went through several expressions that looked closer to terrified or fish-eyed, before ending up on what’s maybe closer to, ‘Oh no, she’s beautiful’ but we’ll just have to keep working on those expressions!

PSA to the Sheith fandom regarding the filter ‘-Keith/Lance’ on AO3

  We’re all pretty much aware that shkla.nce and Klnce floods the Sheith tag on ao3. To counter this, a majority of the shippers use ‘-Keith/Lance’ in the Search within results section to get the Sheith content that they want. I’ve used the ‘-Keith/Lance’ once upon a time, until I got introduced to ‘-filter_ids:276512′ by the ao3 twitter account. The funny thing is to this day I still don’t know what those numbers stand for. This is what the Sheith tag looks like unfiltered:

Filter '-Keith/Lance'

Why is the ‘-Keith/Lance’ filter search so low? Because it removes Sheith fics from its own tag.

Here are the fics removed from that filter that has nothing to do with Klnce;

-Into Warmer Air by Carrionflower -Battered roses by vagrantBreath, -Searches by avidheader, -Divergent(Voltron Version) by MeemQaaf, -R U Mine? by ZillyVrilly, -The Quintessential Bond by avidbeader, -Pour Some Sugar on Me by Bosstoaster Smut (ChaoticReactions), -The Prince of Arus by gingayellow, -Behaviour by RottenMint, -put out the light by incorrect19days, -flower through disarray by starboykeith, And this is just on the first page. Do not use filter ‘-Keith/Lance’ instead, use:  -filter_ids:276512 since it rightfully removes Klnce and keeps the Sheith. Chances are if you’ve been using -Keith/Lance all this time you’ve missed out on a lot of great undiscovered stories. Happy reading!
