Hello I have been reading Autistic Spencer Reid fics non-stop for days and I’d love to hear your HCs! Please?

yes of of course! here are some of my favorite:

the ask I just got sent about Spencer having Derek lay on top of him as a pressure stim is like the best headcanon ever. I feel like that would start with Spencer forgetting his weighted blanket on a case (or just not being able to travel with it because those suckers are heavy af) and he’s really overwhelmed on the jet and desperately needs to feel grounded and obviously everyone’s like really worried because he’s acting really agitated. Derek canonically is usually the person who approaches him when he’s upset so Spencer tries to explain what’s wrong and things just spiral from there and it becomes a habit for them to cuddle up on the couch on the jet.

Spencer absolutely loves Penelope’s office because she has so many toys and trinkets but it’s also quiet and has perfect lighting (plus she keeps little bobbles that are the perfect visual stims). A lot of the times when he’s having a rough day he sits quietly in Penelope’s office and they do their work together in peace. Also the sound of her keyboard is really soothing a lot of the times.

when he’s working on a geographical profile or like standing around and staring at something on the board he naturally uses one hand for writing and the other hand is always in the Raptor Hand™ position. JJ in particular always teases that his joints in his wrist must be absolute hell after being in that bent position so often for so long.

Whenever he overhears Penelope and Derek flirting with each other his brain always immediately catches on the ridiculous (/lh) names and phrases they toss around. he usually repeats what they say under his breath at least a couple of time and it always embarrasses him, not because of the echolalia itself but because some of the stuff they say is definitely out of character for him so it feels weird for him to be saying those things out loud.

he’s really good with using and detecting sarcasm (however when someone says something sarcastic he still sometimes corrects them because what they say reminds him of information he knows and he loves sharing the random facts. obviously this is often misconstrued as him misunderstanding but he justs likes infodumping the facts he knows!) but he’s really bad with understanding like regular joke or vague statements.

ok but,,,,,,,, horreid hurt/comfort where it’s the 20 year “anniversary” of the first time derek was,,,, sa’d so he’s super down and when they get back home he goes straight under the kitchen table and when hotch and spence get there, they leave the lights off and just sit next to him. eventually derek gravitates towards hotch and he just holds him while derek cries and after a while they go to bed and hotch is on one end while spence is on the other and derek just latches onto spence like his life depends on it. he’s not even crying, and none of them fall asleep so they just lay there all night holding each other and they call the day off next morning neither hotch nor spence getting up until derek does 🥲
