oh my goodness I LOVE THIS QUESTION EEK the google comment made me laugh, i promise i do not mind in the slightest, you are giving me an EXCUSE to YAP about my favorite boys!! anywayz this might be a lil long so here’s a guide to get to know bnd and how i learned their personalities! i hope this helps you get to know them a bit more <33

first off you can’t go wrong with watching funnextdoor!! it’s the first video of theirs that i watched and it gives a lot of insight into them in their natural habitat (their dorms) as well as gives a glimpse into their bonds with each other! it’s so cute because the 2nd ep especially is where they all go on various adventures (some by themselves + some with other members!) and then they go on this lil retreat ugh it’s so sweet! this show really gives you a good idea of each member’s personality <3

next is to watch “what? door!” that’s like their version of txt’s to do if you’re familiar with that?? my favorite episodes are 3-4, which is where they work in pairs and go on missions to collect hearts and they are SO funny! i almost lost my mind seeing leehan run full force after myungjae stole his hearts i had no idea he could even run that fast i’m giggling writing this rn-

also love eps 5-6 of what? door! that’s where they go and work at an amusement park and they work in pairs at different jobs! it’s actually so sweet because you are able to see them interact with kids! afterwards once their shifts are over they’re able to enjoy the park so you get to see them have a lot of fun (except my lil scaredy cat taesan LMAO) these eps are just my fav because they’re so cute and i love seeing them have fun and enjoying themselves ugh i literally love them so much

another thing i did but more so to help with understanding their personalities for my writing is looking into each member’s mbti! it helped me get a good grasp of their general personalities bc ofc they aren’t limited to their 4 letters as they’re all unique and different <3

here’s a few random/defining characteristics (at least imo) for the members:

sungho: the mom of the group, loves soccer/sports/working out, giggles a LOT, neat, radiates the kinda energy of a person who is good at everything, more logical and levelheaded, he’s the main vocal and myungjae nicknamed him yeppi <3

riwoo: he’s our main dancer, loves food/desserts (so much so to the point where he said if he could have a superpower he’d want to be able to time travel so he could eat till he was full then go back in time to before he ate so he could eat again), he’s quiet, so incredibly endearing, dad joke enthusiast, short king

myungjae: puppy, loud, hypeman, apart of the riwoo love club (me too jae… me too… tbh he’s probably our president), the leader! big brain bc iirc he writes their songs! he’s so lovable and extroverted, he’s sensitive and cries a lot but that makes him even more lovable imo

taesan: giant mountain, cat, tall boy, apart of the producing club with jae, he’s an allrounder, king of teasing his members fr, he looks scary but is actually shy, doesn’t like being called cute (but is very much the cutest), riwoo lover #2

leehan: fish enthusiast, the best listener in the group, gets shy if you call him handsome, riwoo lover #3, the oddball of the group but not like ehehe he’s so quirky no he’s actually straight up weird like a literal enigma and once ate fish food (i’m madly in love w him)

woonhak: the coolest teenager i’ve ever seen (i am afraid of teenagers but i wouldn’t be scared to walk past him if i saw him in the wild), loud boy, teased relentlessly but they love him so much, has an incredible stage presence, a cutie patootie that bnd would protect with their lives

Ohh man you are so not ready for the ridiculous amount of talking I'm about to do. Prepare yourself.

So, I have 3 main Jellyfish that I absolutely LOVE, and they are all weird and beautiful in their own ways. I'll include pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Coming in at #1 we have the Red Comb Jellyfish, whose name makes more sense if you take a look at its bright red color and the comb-like cilia that descend down the sides of its bell in straight lines. The most interesting thing about Red Comb Jellies, in my opinion, is that they are thought to be some of the fastest moving Jellyfish we have in captivity! Though if you watch them in videos (which I have done in the past upon hearing this) you'll be disappointed to find that they don't exactly ZOOM, but they are definitely faster than the leisurely moon jellies or lion's mane jellies. Red Comb Jellyfish are also not true jellyfish, they are actually ctenophores! Red Combs also live in such deep, dark waters that they are nearly invisible to the human eye while in their natural habitats, because of their vibrant red color. Deep reds have a harder time showing up on ocean cameras than other colors, so it's really a miracle that we even discovered Red Comb Jellies in the first place!

#2 is the glorious Flower Hat Jellyfish! I don't know how exactly to describe what they look like other than 'strange' and 'colorful'. Their cilia is often pink, magenta, or purple and appears similar to beads! Which is absolutely stunning in my opinion!! These tentacles are also fluorescent, meaning these jellies light up like crazy under a blacklight! I suggest watching a video of this because it's VERY cool. Also, these jellies are actually observed to have a noticeable difference in behavior depending on the time and temperature of the water. During the day they tend to stay near the sea floor, and at night they actually drift around wherever.

#3 is the funny-looking Fried Egg Jelly! I like these guys because they look like eggs, really. These dudes can also get BIG so that means there's just giant eggs floating around in the Mediterranean ocean. Another fun thing is that crabs and other small crustaceans sometimes use them to hitch a ride, because even though they CAN swim actively, these Jellyfish usually just float around complete still. Which makes them the perfect taxi.

their family is kind of modelled off the sedgwick family like old money n pretty dysfunctional bt all abt keeping up a seamless facade of perfection... with a pinch of the kennedy’s in there. her dad’s high up in politics n his dad before tht ws in politics n it’s just a long prestigious line of clones in expensive suits as far as delilah’s concerned. her dad i picture as like.... nate archibald’s grandfather in gossip girl.... personality wise.

for as long as she cn remember she’s found this cookie cutter white picket fence life boring. stifling. to delilah it’s like being hemmed in a stuffy room n forbidden frm opening a window. it’s all vry Rich People Problems i wnt lie bt <3 she feels everlastingly bored. All The Time. plus her family hs always been a focal point fr tabloids etc which doesn’t help this feeling of not rly Living but just being the focus of a spectator sport. they’re lowkey a bit of a household name so they get a bunch of scrutiny n......... well. new bullet point alert! cue a powerpoint transition

(self harm & depression tw) frm being young delilah always knew there ws sort of. a white noise inside her where everyone else saw a technicolour movie screen. it rly hit her at like 12 i’d say as she was jst coasting towards adolescence. it ws pretty obvious frm her behaviour i’d say bt her parents only became Aware it ws a problem when she stuck a fork into a socket n short circuited the power in the house. she got shocked unconscious n when she woke up she told the in house dr they’d called (to keep it under wraps frm outsiders) tht she just.... couldn’t feel anything. she’d been reading frankenstein (she’s always liked gothic literature) n thought it’d zap her to life like the monster

her parents got her on medication n figured that wld fix everything. they didn’t like to talk abt things and that was that. it wasn’t to be mentioned again

delilah’s parents r just very.... sterile. family is abt appearances. they’ll be all smiles n flowing conversation when ppl are around bt it feels like being an actress n reading frm a script. being a toy in a dollhouse

she had two siblings: an older sister named clara & a younger brother named elijah. clara ws always like.... the Dream daughter. did everything right. amazing grades. america’s sweetheart. LOVED by the press. did sm charity work. elijah was fine/kind of a slacker compared bt coasted by on athletic prowess (captain of the rowing team). delilah hs very much always been the anomaly in this idyllic line-up. middle child effect! altho having said tht she’s always ran w the popular crowd of her age group bc Rich + Pretty = Status. it’s all quite superficial n delilah’s attitude on the matter can b summed up w this photoset. having said tht there was Some merit in constantly being paraded around as “such a pretty thing” bc a few modelling agencies attempted to scout her bt delilah found that boring. she wants to b called brilliant not beautiful. her mother called this her “not playing to the advantages that god gave her”. with a tight-lipped smile and a “god forbid i use my brain”, delilah only disappointed her further <3

(drugs & ed tw) delilah gt pretty heavy into partying fr the sake of trying to Feel something. intense on the drugs front (coke n prescription pills). rarely eating. she got a silver broach of a swan tht she pins to most of her clothes n u can unscrew the swan’s neck n pull it out to reveal a little powder spoon. still wears this today. clara n delilah were always super close n clara wld cover fr her a bunch. making up lies n jst having her back to their parents if they ever asked where she was / she ws in trouble n needed to keep it under wraps. when delilah hd an article in a tabloid pretty mch like this one clara talked their parents dwn frm sending her to a rehabilitation centre in switzerland. they gt it pretty much scorched frm existence bt delilah kept a clipping bc honestly she thought it was funny hw pale her mother went abt it

(car accident & drunk driving & death tw) at a fancy benefit the astors were all attending among 4857925974 uppity families delilah wound up heading off w some of the rich kids n one thing lead to another n a couple of them gt arrested fr a coke scandal. delilah used her phone call to contact clara n fr once clara hd let loose a little n hd something to drink bt still drove to the station to bail delilah out n try n fix her mess bt.... skipped a red light n crashed. she died upon impact.

(hospitalisation & drugs & addiction tw) this made delilah spiral massively obviously.... she clung on by the skin of her teeth fr a while bt she rly was just getting quite out of control doing an extremely excessive amt of coke to get by at this point so her parents actually did.... end up shipping her off to switzerland for rehabilitation. they didn’t tell anyone this tho n as far as ppl were/are aware she was doing charity work with habitat for humanity in trinidad. her parents literally........... hired ppl to take photos of things there n a social media team posted them to her instagram account jst. the most elaborate lie.... it’s a lot.

delilah jst pretty much went along w whatever they said at the facility bt didn’t absorb any of it too much.... she did get sober there bt it was vry much bc she had no other choice rather than a want to......... she even pretended to “find god” while she ws there n memorised bible lines to recite w a coolly detached smile. in her head she ws probably thinking abt hw her mandated therapist cld gladly eat shit and she’d be happy to watch. it was just like.... everyone there was RLY hideously overpaid bt did they actually Care abt their work or patients? debatable. wasn’t the most healing experience thru delilah’s eyes bt... maybe it’d work better if she’d actually opened her mind to it bt anyway...... <3 cornelius fudge voice: she’s back. the dark lord.....

PERSONALITY:

nw tht her history is out of the way i’ll leap like a flea off a shaggy dog’s back into personality! aesthetically she almost ALWAYS wears white/cream. reminds me of the woman in white frm sharp objects. rarely she’ll dabble in silver or gold or like..... vry pale green bt.... always muted tones. usually white or cream. big white sunhats. white sunglasses. white pussybow blouses w a little white skirt n a pearl barrette in her hair. she even smokes white sobranie cigs tht r imports like it’s a lot she’s truly committed to the aesthetic.... paired w like. classic patent mary janes.... she tends to flutter around the place like a silk moth. likes lace too. hs a very put together image n even demeanour like she’s very lithe n graceful n drifts like a ghost which kind of contrasts w... who she is at her core bt in the astor family it’s all abt appearances <3 the only deviation from this is she sometimes wears dark blue mascara once in a blue moon n if ppl comment on this she’s like. idk what ur talking abt? glides away like a ghost in a haunted mansion n is never seen again.

very perceptive. incredibly observant. yrs of early life media training n being born frm politicians means she’s an excellent liar. she knows ppl n knows what makes them tick bt she’ll only use this when necessary. she isn’t a terrible person bt she knows how to b Very mean n will equip this as a weapon shd a situation call fr it. also more prone to lashing out since her sister......... she hs sometimes played chess games socially fr kicks

dark n biting sense of humour. rather frank abt things. VERY ruthless when scorned bt she isn’t particularly?? emotive abt it??? her bf cheated on her once n when he told her she slapped him rly hard in front of sm ppl he knew n then jst walked away. blocked him on literally everything. removed him frm the face of the earth as far as she ws concerned. had him blacklisted frm every event n told ppl they’d be cut too if they continued to associate w him. goodbye sir <3 u are the weakest link <3 needless to say he regretted it <3

very loyal to u until she isn’t. finds it very easy to cut ties if need be. once her trust is broken it is gooooone baby goone.... the trust is Gone. selective in who she cares abt

WANTED CONNECTIONS:

exes: the ex bf tht cheated on her n she got blacklisted from 94872347 social events cld be a fun thing to explore..... delilah wld be EXTREMELY cold towards him n honestly want him dead. wouldn’t show any shred of caring abt him at all she’s very gd at stoning her emotions n keeping them inside. hasn’t cried since her sister died as an example of how..... withdrawn she is from confessing her innermost thoughts n desires. maybe an ex bf before tht that she rly didn’t take seriously at all..... typically she just isn’t interested/invested in romance she’s vry apathetic abt it all

hook-ups: she doesn’t have a HUGE amt of these bt.... maybe a select handful.... some she wld have hooked up w once n never again n just been like >_> if they implied they shd as if it was preposterous n she was thoroughly over it.... some maybe she’d find interesting enough to extend beyond tht...... none she’d invest in if she cld help it altho? maybe someone as an exception to tht rule cld be fun

maverick left dahlia afterwards and it was essentially up to her to raise aster alone. donovan had his own wife and kid to take care of and sort of backed down from his career to do so. house dads ftw

aster grew up knowing her dad as some ‘deadbeat no good’ simply bc dahlia was bitter

also grew up as the kid who would hold worms over another kid’s face and taunt them w/ it. so like, playground bully. that was aster. she’s not ashamed of it

she was often left on her own to do her own kinda shit b/c her mom was always busy out in nature n’ shit but aster never minded; loved her mom a Lot

aster’s life changed when she was nine

her mother had been doing research out in the ~wilderness~ with donovan, after months of convincing him of doing this one last project with her~ when the wildfires started

it spread so fast, and they were already too far away from the road

it took them two months to confirm that the twins were dead

rather than leave aster to maverick, elaine--donovan’s wife--took her under her wing and moved across the country to boston alongside myra, her daughter

elaine always held a resentment towards aster because of her mother, but never did anything about it--it was just always, sorta, implied ?

but myra and aster got along swimmingly despite being polar opposites

aster was p much a feral child, and myra had been receiving etiquette lessons since birth, practically--like, literally

elaine put them in the same hobbies but aster always found ways to be wildly different from the ~standard~

myra learned cello and flute, aster started up on bass and drums (breaking both instruments, repeatedly, for many years)

elaine forced dance onto the both of them, and whilst they both excelled at ballet--aster switched over to a more free-flowing dance as soon as she was able to

(that and when elaine tried to put aster in sports instead of dance--figuring her fiery nature would be put to good use--aster managed to get kicked off of every single team of every single sport she tried b/c of her aggression. theyve had to fight a few lawsuits after aster’s broken a number of noses and sporting equipments)

myra was learning two languages, aster? dyslexic and could barely read english as it was; science made sense to her, however. plants? especially.

people confused myra and aster for twins nearly all the damn time, despite only being cousins, they were so alike and yet so opposite

that was, of course, until they got into a nasty spat when they were seventeen

it was something about dead parents and resentments and yadda yadda; it didn’t end well

aster wound up running away......all the way back to los angeles.

anyways she started attending ucla b/c her mother attended ucla, but her mother wasn’t a part of a sorority

Old+New Book Review: Kongjian Yu

Designed Ecologies: The Landscape Architecture of Kongjian Yu edited by William S. Saunders Birkhäuser, 2012 Hardcover, 256 pages Letters to the Leaders of China: Kongjian Yu and the Future of the Chinese City edited by Terreform UR Books, 2018 Paperback, 300 pages

One of the most memorable crits I attended during the World Architecture Festival a couple weeks ago was Turenscape's presentation of Puyangjiang River Corridor, which involved the demolition of the channelized river's concrete embankments and subsequent "softening and remediating" of the 10-mile-long river corridor. Even though the concrete-lined river sprouted industrial uses along its banks, Turenscape convinced the city's mayor to remove the concrete and the industry in order to bring the river back to life. How, the jury asked the designer from Turenscape, did they manage to do that? "Six months of drinking with the mayor!" It seemed like a joke and elicited laughter from the jury and audience, but it was true. And it captured something unique about Turenscape beyond its distinctive, influential "sponge city" landscapes full of winding colorful walkways and pavilions: founder Kongjian Yu and his other partners engage with mayors to transform sizable chunks of urban China into productive cultural landscapes. Yu's political engagement is the theme of Letters to the Leaders of China, the eighth book from Terreform's UR Books. It collects almost ten of his letters to mayors and includes excerpts from his books, essays, and lectures; much of his words here have been translated into English for the first time. Following them are essays by such academics as Thomas J. Campanella, Zhongjie Lin, and Peter G. Rowe. Concluding the book are an interview with Ai Weiwei and maps that show the remarkable extent of Turenscape's projects for Chinese cities -- 48 in Qinhuangdao alone (!), the city where the famous Red Ribbon Park is located. I started with the Ai Weiwei interview. Although they clearly know each other and appreciate each other's work, the informal interview the artist and landscape architect probing each other to learn about the other person and provoke him about certain questionable traits. The candor and conversational tone make it a great start to the core features of Yu's career, from his agricultural upbringing and training at Harvard University, to his teaching at Peking University and work at Turenscape, which he founded in 1988 and has seen expand to hundreds of employees in three offices. The main argument that permeates the interview as well as his letters to Chinese mayors is "little feet" versus "big feet" values. The first refers to the tradition no longer practiced of binding the feet of girls in the name of beauty, while the second refers to the strong women that work the land but are not seen as traditional beauties. Yu extends the analogy to landscape design and inverts the two, finding value in the productive over formal beauty. In turn, even though his landscapes are punctuated by formally striking features like the red ribbon (visible on the cover of the Birkhäuser book as well as via the link above), they address a number of functions: industrial remediation, cleaning water, habitat restoration, growing crops, etc. By integrating productive landscapes into urban situations (many Turenscape parks are located alongside the cookie cutter housing developments outsiders see as synonymous with Chinese urbanism), Yu and his team remind city dwellers of China's agricultural roots and reveal how rice paddies, for instance, can co-exist with housing, universities, and other urban uses. Letters to the Leaders of China has some photographs, but they are all monochrome and serve to elucidate points in the writings rather than to illustrate Turenscape's colorful projects. A more traditional full-color monograph, though a fairly academic one, was put out by Birkhäuser back in 2012. The book alternates documentation of built and unbuilt Turenscape projects with scholarly essays, many of the latter coming from professors at Yu's Cambridge alma mater. The maps at the back of Letters illustrate the country-wide ambition of Turenscape, something the comes across more explicitly in Designed Ecologies. In addition to projects like the Red Ribbon Park, the monograph includes large-scale planning and research projects for Beijing and all of China. With color-coded maps reminiscent of the great Ian McHarg, these large-scale projects convey how Yu has brought ideas from his education in the United States to bear on his home country, in turn influencing the field of landscape architecture well beyond China.

Newt and Tina’s laughs echoed throughout the Goldstein apartment and you were instantly brought back to the room in which you were cuddled up on the couch beside the fireplace reading one of your favorite books. Reading was one of the many ways you tried to escape your feelings and what you were going through. 

Recently, Tina, Queenie and Jacob had traveled to London to visit you and Newt. You liked them and you were excited to meet Newt’s friends. However, you didn’t realize how much him and Tina seemed to have such chemistry together. It was clear they had feelings for one another and you were just waiting for one of them to come out and say it.

You turned your head to look up at the two of them at the kitchen table laughing while telling stories over a up of tea. Queenie had gone out with Jacob which left you alone with no one to keep you company. You watched as they both looked at one another and continued their conversation and you noticed how Newt’s eyes had a special twinkle in them as he looked at Tina. You wanted nothing more than for him to look at you that way. Of course there was no way he ever would.... you two were best friends and that’s all you’d ever be. 

Closing your book, you stood up and walked past them making your way to your room. 

“Are you going to bed?” Tina asked.

“Yeah... besides, I have work tomorrow and I have a lot to get done...” 

“Well, sleep well!” 

You smiled at her and then met Newt’s gaze. He was giving you his signature lopsided smile and bid you goodnight before turning back to face Tina and going in to another story about one of his creatures. 

You gently closed the door to your room and set your book down. Slipping out of your robe you crawled in to bed and shut your eyes. Hopefully your dreams would be a nice escape from the feelings inside you.

Sitting at your desk, you fumbled through stacks of papers and sighed when you realized just how much work you had to get done today. Looking up at the clock you noticed it was mid afternoon. Where had time gone?! You rushed to organize your things and get everything done. A few hours later Newt showed up. He quietly walked in and stood in front of your desk, watching as you kept working.

“Y/N?”

“Oh!” Dropping your quill, you looked up to the wizard looking down at you in confusion. 

“It’s rather late.... Me and the other’s were going to go out and came here to come get you.”

Gazing in to his beautiful sea foam green eyes, you sighed. “Well.. I have a lot to get done and I don’t kno-”

“Y/N....” Newt tilted his head and held out his hand. “You’ve worked hard all day. Come on.”

“Fine. Gimme one minute.” Organizing your papers quickly, you grabbed your coat and purse and together you and Newt apparated away.

Nothing on earth could compare to the feeling you had inside you as you sat at the table listening to Tina and Newt laugh while Queenie and Jacob danced to the music playing. There was a rather flashy jazz singer on the stage. Jacob spun Queenie and you watched as her dress swirled around her and her bouncy curls flew in the air. They looked so happy together....

“You remember that, right Y/N?” Newt’ voice broke your eyes away from the dance floor and you looked at him in confusion. 

“Huh?”

“The story I just told! When we found Frank and how we captured him!” Newt’s eyes were beaming with the memory of saving the beloved Thunderbird while you two were in Egypt. 

“Oh.... yeah...” Taking a sip of your butterbeer, you nodded and then turned your gaze down away from Newt’s beautiful eyes. Oh how you wanted to just get lost in them forever...

“I don’t know about you guys but I’m starving!” Jacob took his seat next to you and picked up a menu looking it over. “How about we all get something to share?”

“Oh! That sounds wonderful!” Queenie beamed.

Frankly, you weren't feeling too hungry and in all honesty all you wanted to do was go home and lie down. You had zero interest in being here anymore. 

“What do you think?” Jacob turned to look at you and you paused, realizing you weren't listening to them as they had decided on what to get. 

“Oh, umm... I actually think I’m gonna go. I’m really tired from work. You guys have fun though.” Everyone looked at you and their smiled dropped. 

“Awe, Honey! Please stay!” Queenie begged. As much as you hated to say no to her, you declined and put your coat on. Bidding everyone goodbye, you quickly made your way out and hurried on home.

The next morning you decided you’d get to work extra early; avoiding everyone in the morning. You plopped down at your desk and began your paperwork. When lunchtime came, one of your friends in the office asked if you’d like to accompany her as she went to get something to eat.

“Thanks, Charlotte... but I’m not that hungry.” 

“Okay.... well, make sure you take a break soon... you’ve been working hard all day.” Smiling at you, you watched as she made her way out with some of the others.

Opening the door to yours and Newt’s flat, you stumbled in, yawning and nearly toppling over at your attempt to kick off your shoes.

“Y/N!” Queenie quickly rushed to your side and helped you remove your coat. “It’s nearly ten... have you been at work this entire time?” Her eyes were full of concern as she looked at you, noticing how weak and exhausted you looked.

“I’m fine, Queenie.... really.” Lying, you gently brushed her off and attempted to make your way to your room.

“Y/N, please come sit down. You look like you need something to eat. Here, let me fix you up my famous-”

“Really, Queenie, I’m fine.” Placing  hand on your rumbling tummy, your mind instantly thought about how much you’d love to eat some of her strudel she always made. “Where’s Newt?”

“Oh, him and Tina are in his case.”

“Oh...” Feeling the pain in the pit of your stomach, you forced yourself to your room where you closed the door and let yourself fall on to your bed. You weren't quite sure what was going on inside you, but for some reason, the pain of not eating was more bearable than the pain of seeing Newt and Tina together...

“Has Y/N come home yet?” Newt walked in to the kitchen and saw Queenie carrying a mug of cocoa she was bringing to Jacob.

“Yes. She came in about twenty minutes ago or so. She went to bed though.... She seems different, dotchya think?”

Nodding, Newt agreed with her. His concern was growing as he noticed the last few days you had distanced yourself from him. It was so unlike you and he wanted to make sure you were okay. “Did you happen to... to hear her thoughts at all?” He asked.

“All I really heard was how she was maybe sad about something. I’m trying not to pry... but I did hear a thought that was maybe about you?”

Newt felt a pain in his stomach as his heart dropped. He had something to hurt you? “Do you- do you know what it was about?”

“Sorry, honey... I don’t” Giving him a smile in hopes of comforting him, Queenie walked past him with the cocoa in her hand and made her way over to Jacob. Newt stood there a few seconds before finally retreating to his own room. Tomorrow, he was going to talk to you and he was going to figure out what was wrong.

You awoke rather early and seeing as it was the weekend, you decided you’d go in to Newt’s case and take care of his creatures. It had been a while and honestly, you needed some time with someone there than humans.

Descending down in to the hut, you grabbed a bucket of feed and made your way over to Frank. The giant Thunderbird raised his head from his curled up position and immediately rose when seeing you had breakfast.

“Hello there, big guy.” Resting a hand on his forehead, you pet him and watched as he cooed at your affection. Placing the bucket down, you bent down to grab the food to throw in to the air. Your head began to spin and you felt yourself lose your balance. Quickly, Frank noticed this and caught you on his beak. You smiled at him and tried to push yourself up to try to feed him again. Looking up at him, you began to see two Franks... now three... You felt your body growing weaker and weaker before suddenly everything went dark.

Yawning, Newt rose from his bed and quickly dressed himself before making hi way towards the door. He stopped when he noticed from the corner of his eye his case was open. Scratching his head, he was certain he had closed it last night. Worried that maybe some of his creatures had escaped, he made his way down.

Landing inside the hut, he looked around and noticed the bucket of Frank’s food wasn't where he had left it the night before. Quickly, he hurried out of the hut. He was met by Frank who looked rather uneasy and upset. He was flapping his wings and screeched when he saw Newt.

“Whoa...” Rushing over to the Thunderbird, Newt quickly noticed the motionless body lying on the ground of Frank’s habitat. Realizing it was you, his heart began racing. Falling to the ground, he quickly picked your head up and tried to shake you awake. “Y/N?!” Nothing. “Y/N?! Wake up!” Panicking, Newt lifted you up off the ground and rushed you in to his hut. Placing you on the cot, he fumbled in his pocket to grab his wand. Gently placing it above your chest, he quietly whispered “Rennervate”. The red light emitted from his wand and he waited a moment. His heart beating nearly out of his chest, he felt relief when he finally saw your eyes flutter open. “Merlins beard...” Newt smiled in relief and grabbed you, holding you to his chest. Nestling his face in to your hair, he let out tears of joy as he refused to let you go. 

“N..Newt?” You croaked. Your head felt as if it were hit by a boulder and your entire body felt as if it were jello. Struggling to keep your eyes open, Newt placed his hands on your cheeks and looked at you. The dark circles under your eyes and your pale complexion were indicators of your malnourished body and he quickly sprang in to action. 

Gently placing your head down on the pillow, he scurried up the ladder only to reappear moments later with a plate of toast and jam. Sitting down on the bench beside you, you gently helped you sit up before feeding you a piece of the toast.

The warmth of the food and the sweetness of the jam instantly made you feel better. You chewed slowly and once you swallowed, Newt handed you a glass of water. The liquid felt good against your dry throat and you smiled. Opening your eyes, you met Newt’s gaze and saw the concern and worrying them. He waited a moment before quietly speaking. 

“Y/N, what is going on?” His voice full of concern, he gently grabbed a hold of your hand as he kept his eyes locked on yours. You felt the sting of tears fighting to emerge from your eyes. Unable to find your words, you broke down in to tears. Newt watched, not knowing how to react right away.

“N-Newt...” You sobbed. “I’m so sorry.”

“What?”

“I...I... I was stupid and I.... I thought if I could- could numb the pain I’d feel better.” You slipped your hand out of Newt’s grip and hid your ashamed face behind your hands quickly. Sobbing, you struggled to find your breath.

“What pain?” Newt asked. He waited, watching as you wiped the tears away with the back of your hand. “Of seeing you with-with T-Tina.”

Confusion washed over Newt’s face as he let your words sink in. Finally he put the pieces together. Grabbing a hold of your hand again, he places his other under your chin and lifted it to meet his eyes. “Hey.... listen... If you think I replaced you with Tina, you’re wrong.... no on can replace you.”

His words helped, but you were afraid he didn’t fully understand. You loved him. You wanted to be with him. 

You shook your head and looked up at him. “No, Newt.... you don’t understand...” Pausing, you finally came out and said it. “I love you...” It came out as almost a whisper. Waiting for him to turn away in disgust, you watched as a smile spread across his face. 

“I love you too.”

“What?”

“I said, I love you too. I’m sorry if I made it seem as though I had feelings for Tina. She’s a good friend, but she’s not the one I fancy. I’ve fancied you for quite some time now... I just- I just never knew how to tell you.”

You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Had you heard him correctly? Your palms became sweaty and you felt butterflies filing your stomach. Hearing these words made your head spin, but in a good way.

“Please don’t ever do this again. You scared me nearly to death. I thought I’d lost you.” Newt grabbed you and wrapped you in his arms again. Wrapping your arms around him, you apologized. 

“I just didn’t know how to numb the feelings of hurt.” You replied. “I just.... I just needed something to distract me. I’m sorry...”

“Don’t be sorry.... just promise me that whenever you start to feel this way or any way at all, talk to me, love.” 

You smiled and promised him you would. Smiling back, Newt kissed your forehead before grabbing the plate of toast again. “Now, eat up. Can’t have my favorite girl down for too long.” Giggling, you opened your mouth as Newt fed you the toast. He chuckled as some of the jam dripped on to your chin and he brushed it away. “I love you so much, Y/N.”

I don't mean to upset you further, please know that's not my intention, but if you still want to? I don't know very much about wild African dogs and I like to learn about people's interests..if you wanted to talk about it still?? I think it'd be interesting...

okay so african wild dogs are a sub-saharan species of canine !! in less pretentious words tho, theyre just african wild dogs ! theyre also known as painted dogs, which is a super cute name based on their fur patterns! bc the dogs have these beautiful coats w so many different colors and patterns, and each dog has a 100% unique coat pattern! its almost like a fingerprint, but actually more reliable bc human fingerprints arent actually 100% unique. they also have adorably dorky lanky legs and big ears !! theyre honestly the cutest animals, i love them so much.

the dogs are super super cool bc they live in these complex loyal that are closer than that of wolves and other canine species! the pack is lead by two dogs who are in a monogamous relationship, and that couple is the main, and usually only, breeding pair! so these two dogs will have pups, but the cool thing is that the entire pack takes part in caring for the pups! so instead of being raised by just their parents, the pups are raised by and cared for by their entire pack, which heavily plays into how close their packs are! youll basically never see a painted dog alone, when they dispense they still stay in groups. when resting even they stay close together, and theres a significant lack of aggression inside packs compared to that of other pack animals.

also, when it comes to food, wild dogs are extremely efficient group hunters, and communicate very well while hunting (and most other interactions lol). something super cool and unique about them is that they have a system to who in the pack eats! pups get to eat first, and the dogs are quite considerate with each other, and rarely will fight over food.

the dogs communicate so well with each other too, and have their own little dog language! they communicate with both body language AND barks and other noises. theyre extremely smart and caring animals !

unfortunately the dogs are endangered in the wild, and are one of the most threatened predators in africa :^( which is saying something tbh. theres less than 7,000 alive in the wild, and theyve been endangered for over 20 years. the main causes of their endangerment is hunting and loss of environment. poachers are common, but one of the main dangers to the species is local people killing the dogs in order to protect livestock. the thing is, though, its extremely uncommon for the dogs to eat livestock. theyre pack hunters, and stealing livestock isnt their style. but unfortunately the dogs are blamed for the loss and are killed for it. along with this, human interaction hurts them again when it comes to lack of habitat. one pack typically ‘owns’ a very large patch of land, but with the constant destruction of their habitats due to human interaction, the dogs are being forced from their homes with no where to go. pack sizes have been suffering recently do to this as well, as packs are becoming smaller with the loss in amount of land they have.

african wild dogs are extremely smart, unique, curious, amazing animals that are worthy of so so so much (just as all animals do). the dogs unfortunately dont receive as much attention as they deserve, and while there are conservation efforts in effect, they tend to lack in size and funding compared to the efforts of more ‘popular’ endangered species.

basically the dogs are amazing amazing animals that deserve to be loved and protected, and we def need to put in more effort towards their conservation !!! the loss of these dogs would be so devastating, in both an environmental and personal sense. these animals are extremely intelligent, interesting, and ever-so-curious, and i rly hate to think of a world without them!

do yourself a favor and give them a good look at ur next trip to the zoo ! its so cool (and cute) to watch them interact and play together !!

Kirstie Alley’s love for lemurs brings actress to Wichita, her ‘new favorite zoo’ | The Wichita Eagle

A love for ring-tailed lemurs brought actress Kirstie Alley to Tanganyika Wildlife Park, located just 15 miles west of her Wichita hometown.

"Last Friday, Kirstie Alley stopped by to see our lemur island," the Goddard-based wildlife park posted to Facebook. "Her passion for and knowledge about lemurs was inspiring. It was a pleasure showing her the Park and we were humbled by her tweet."

Alley’s tweet mentioned that Tanganyika Wildlife Park is her new favorite zoo.

And when a Kansas City woman tweeted to Alley that she goes to Wichita just to visit Tanganyika, the Wichita native who now lives in California responded.

"The animals are treated with such beautiful care," Alley tweeted. "It’s a happy place. And super informative. This helps people have interest in animal conservation all over the world .. :)"

Alley’s love for lemurs is evident on her social media profiles.

Earlier this month, for National Pet Day, she tweeted four photos of lemurs — one who was holding a bright, yellow flower and another who had a baby lemur on its back.

She posted to Facebook last year that she doesn’t trust people who don’t like lemurs — or Kansas.

In 2016, Alley told People magazine that she has 14 ring-tailed lemurs as pets.

“I started out (having) lemurs because they are a great animal, and I was very interested in conservation in Madagascar (where they are from) and saving rainforests and forests,” she told People. “It’s actually really easy in Los Angeles, because the climate is almost identical. And then I just fell in love with them.”

In 2017, the Wichita native told the Rachael Ray Show that she once convinced airport security that her baby lemur was a cat — even when she was asked to take the "cat" out of her carrier.

“I had this plan, I had to think of it really fast," she told Ray. "So I take her out and I keep her moving (so they can’t see her clearly), and I’m like, she’s really crazy, she’s so crazy, you don’t want to touch her. … she’ll bite you!”

Alley, the television star known for starring in "Cheers," "Dancing with the Stars" and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" was born and raised in Wichita and still has two houses on Douglas. She frequently decorates one of her Wichita homes with a wintery village scene saved from the set of her 1993 movie "Look Who’s Talking Now." That holiday tradition started in 2007.

Jimmie’s Diner owner Linda Davidson said Alley will often come by the restaurant to eat while she’s in Wichita — just like she did on this trip.

"She stops in quite frequently," Davidson said. "And her father is a regular customer."

Davidson said she was not there when Alley visited on Monday, but her staff "reported" the movie star’s visit to her. She said they try to treat her like a normal person while she’s dining there.
