I died in a terrible car accident but instead of going anywhere my ghost just floated around annoying people. At one point I threw a chair at some random person in a mall.

It was hard to figure out Alex. If someone, she knew that the best from all. She was the closest to him, until they were separated to different foster family. That event unutterably shattered them. They were each other’s last promise of safety. That was ripped away from them, and there was nothing they could've done in order to stop that. Neither of them wanted a normal family if that meant that they have to go separate ways. But they had no voice in the matter. Was life ever fair though?
She wanted to be there for him, help him through his first heartbreak, celebrate his graduation with him. She wanted to cry on movies to have Alex laugh at her and maybe sometimes make him waffles.
At first they tried to keep in close touch, but the new forced family didn’t like their continous communication. So it was cut shortly.  The only thing that helped them stay a bit connected was their last name.
Alex didn’t talk about his sister. Not in his personal life, nor in the hospital. Although these two sometimes interwined. His sister was ripped away from him and that was something he couldn’t really process since then. And even if he wanted to talk about her to his friends and collegues, even then he couldn’t because he hadn’t heard about her since. Above that it was many years ago so he thought she wouldn’t even want to hear from him. They both believed this crap. So life went on and neither of them tried to find the other.
✦✧✦✧    ✦✧✦✧    ✦✧✦✧    ✦✧✦✧
The ambulance just rolled in with another case for the Grey- Sloan Memorial Hospital. The paramedics opened the door and immidiately started talking and informing the medical team about the patient and her injuries. Car accident. Fast tachycardia. Internal bleeding. Head and chest injuries. Severe fractures. Collapsed lung. Based on the shared informations it was clear to Owen, Meredith and Pierce that the female on the gurney, in her mid 20s was deep in the woods. They found out that her identity is yet unknown but the scene investigators were going to inform them based on the ID found in the wreck as soon as possible.
The team of three wheeled the patient into the ER and their number was increasing with other nurses and doctors. They were in need of more hands.
„Somebody page Shepherd!” was heard the instruction.
„Okay honey, what’s your name? Can you hear me?”- asked Price while focusing on the stetoscope’s sound. She never got an answer. The girl was out again by the end of the question. The entire room was in a rush, trying to work against time and minimalise the damage what the woman’s body’s suffered.
„We need a chest tube, now!”- and with that Owen got to it.
A nurse suddenly rushed into the room with Amelia who already started to assess the injured person’s condition.
„We have a name, age, blood type…”
As soon as the nurse took in the reaction to her past sentence she realised it would’ve been better if she doesn’t share the information before the surgery. Everyone froze when they heard what was the name. Meredith looked up, and locked her eyes with Owen’s, frowning. Y/N Karev. Karev. That couldn’t be. It must be accidental.
The medical team had to recover, she didn’t have much time. They did the urgent examinations, and headed to the OR, quickly. Even though they didn’t know for sure that Y/N was indeed a relative of Alex or not, they felt some sort of extra pressure, what they had to shut out as the OR door closed.
Some time later in the OR there was so much blood and there was still so much to do. They started doubt if they could stop the bleeding and get to the next task in time. Pierce was worried about Y/N’s heart. Didn’t know if it could take such a pressure for too long. They have to get back if she stabilised a bit. Although Amelia’s stopped the bleeding in the brain, she wanted another scan just to be sure. After some argument between the doctors they decided to close her up and let her rest a bit in the ICU.
Let her rest. But who is she? Meredith although was tired, but had to find Alex. She'd hoped that it’s some kind of misunderstanding. She walked on the long hallway of the hospital, her eyes were scanning the area, she wanted to find Karev. Since it was dark outside, maybe he has finished with his shift and took off with Jo already. No, that wouldn’t be great.
Suddenly at one of the corners they bumped into each other, she'd found Alex.
„What?” - He instantly knew something'd bothered Mer. By how she carried herself, and the look on her face.
„You look like you just saw a ghost.” He meant this as a joke, but his friend didn’t reacted to it like that.
She didn’t want to have this conversation in the middle of the hallway, hell, she didn't want to have this conversation at all, but she couldn’t hold the question in anymore.
„You don’t have a sister who I don’t know about, right?”- she asked desperately.
Alex was staring at his friend. He was expecting almost everything just not this. Why would she ask something like this?
„Wha– what are you talking about?” he was now panicking. Why would she asked something like this in the middle of her shift. It didn’t make sence.
„We just had a surgery on a girl. Her name’s Y/N. With your last name. She isn’t…”
And that was the moment when she knew she didn’t need Karev to answer her question anymore. He already did with his reaction.
He couldn’t think for a moment. He felt like the entire hospital started spinning, while his stomach was growing smaller.
„Where is she?” He felt like his heart was beating almost against his skin tissues while displacing his lungs and ribs out of the way.
„She is in the ICU for now, but Alex…” – he didn’t hear what she said after, because he started sprinting to the stairs leading to the named place. No, this couldn’t be. Sometimes he played with the thought what’d it be like to see her again, to talk to her for the first time in years. He was sure he would be nervous, yes. But he was confident to say that he wouldn’t have thought in his worst nightmare that their reunion would be something like this.
At the nurse station he got the direction to the asked patient’s room. He stepped through the sliding door, and there was no doubt anymore. He was in his sister’s hospital room.
Inside the room there were still nurses adjusting the machines and take her last vitals, but slowly they’d finished for now.
He couldn’t believe what he'd seen. She was so broken. At the first sight he noticed her head was shaved and bandaged. She was attached to a ventilator, covered in bruises and scratches. In his deep thoughts he didn’t even realise that the nurses’d left as well as Meredith was already by his side.
He had to sit down, or else his legs were going to give out.
He didn’t have to ask. He could see that Y/N’s situation was pretty bad. But he wanted to know the details. All of them. Whats up with her brain, how are her organs and limbs and how was and is their oxygen supply? How bad was the bleeding, how many more surgery will be necessary? How many bones were fractured? And who the fuck did this to her? He couldn’t decide which one to ask first if he was going to find his voice.
The doctor and friend standing beside him knew that he would want answers to his unasked questions. So she started to listing out loud what had happened before and during the life saving surgery. Told him who are his sister’s doctors, in case he wanted to get some more info. He had found out that one of the most concerning injuries affected her brain heavily.
Meredith knew exactly how does it feel to watch somebody you love on life support. Hear the ventilator do its job. And even if it’s part of their everyday life as a doctor, it doesn’t prepare them for the case when its not a person whom they know nothing about. She knew there was nothing she could say or do that’d make this easier for him. So she just stroked Alex’s shoulder to let him know that she was there for him, whatever was going to happen and assured him that later she’d send Amelia in, to inform him with the specific details. With that, she left the room.
Alex didn’t know what’d happened to her since he wasn’t a part of her life anymore. He didn’t know why she was in Seattle, hell he didn’t even know if she was going to make it. But he knew for sure that he was going to stay by her side and there isn’t anyone who could debar that this time.
He wouldn’t admit but he was afraid all along that there would be silence after everyone left him alone with his sister. But there wasn’t. He heard the late night traffic of the city, the sirens from the surrounding streets, the machines in the room, and his sobs as well. Even if he only wanted to hear his little sister’s voice.

The little accident
Hotch x reader
Summery(barely) - After a minor car accident there maybe some lingering problems that scare the shit out of aaron.
This is a one shot unless some mfs ask for more lol.
WC- 4276
——————————
You knew there wasn’t much time till Aaron picked you up but your already strong procrastination skills paired with the sick lethargic feeling you had made it all the much harder to get out of your cozy nest. 615- it was nice to be able to have breakfast with Aaron but to do so you had to wake up at the crack of dawn. You wrestle yourself out of bed and throw on the clothes you layed out last night. Mornings had never been your strong suit so to make them more doable you took some measures. Always set out your clothes, towel if you were going to shower, and set the coffee maker to have a fresh pot when you walked down stairs.
You were definitely getting sick, the slightly dizzy and sore feeling indicated that. But it wasn’t bad enough to not go into work so you thought you should just tough it out.
Earlier that same week you had been in sunny California on a case. One of the best perks of working for the BAU was the travel. For some agents that was the worst but you didn’t have any real responsibilities in dc that would hold you back. There was max, your massive Akita but you had a fantastic dog sitter. Other than that you could pack up and go at almost any time. On this particular case after a long and tiring investigation, hunt and chase of a particularly violent bank robber you and hotch had gotten into a mild car accident.
————————
“HOTCH”
You yelp
You turn to look too see headlights pouring in through the passengers side window.
Not even 20 seconds had passed since you plowed into the back corner of car you had been chasing. The driver had attempted to pull a u turn in front of you but your vehicles were already too close for Hotch to stop the car fully before clipping the unsubs left fender. With the speed you were going it ended up spinning the car about twice till it was on the edge of the road.
“Are you ok!?”
Your lungs hurt from the sudden pressure of you seatbelt but other than that you were fine.
“Yeah, are you?”
“Ye-“
“HOTCH!”
And that was when another medium sized Sudan plowed into your side of the car, sending your cruiser tumbling down the hill to your left.
For a moment everything went black as your head bashed against the window. Then you were in it, the car came to a stop in a somewhat akward position. Tilted on it side so that you were looking up at Hotch.
As soon as you regained some sort of grip you reach over swiftly to place your two fingers on his neck. He was unconscious but alive and breathing.
“A - Aaron” you don’t mean it to come out as pained as it did.
“mhhh” a small exhale and then a deep groan and Hotch was back.
After further assessment you were genuinely surprised they you both were ok. A tree had come through the window and pinned your waist and right arm. Your ribs hurt wheres the tree had made contact, probably broken. Hotch was cut up but basically fine and so were you.
“Can you move?”
His tone if hushed and concerned so you try to give comfort with your response.
“I just have to move the seat, can you hold this up and I’ll slip out”
Hotch held the tree branches as you clicked your seat back and slipped into the back seat.
You both climbed out of the wreck and turned to get a good look at eachother.
He swiftly steps forward and cocoons you in his arms, you didn’t have enough time to hug back so you settled with your hands tucked onto his chest.
He was leaning into your shoulder and holding you so tightly.
“Thank god your ok”
He whispers.
——————
Both of you were fine, checked out for injuries but emts and sent home. On the plane back Hotch sat with one arm around you for almost the entire flight. He was normally anti-PDA but you could tell how anxious the whole ordeal made him.
Now you were ready and waiting for hotch to show. You decided to meet him at the curb so you walk down. The sun seems a little bright for 630 but the days we’re getting longer.
He pulled in-front of you about 30 second after you walk down your steps.
You hop in, immediately he kisses you on the side of the mouth and the cheak.
“Good morning to you to” you laugh.
“I wouldn’t do that again, think I’m coming down with somthin”
“Hmm too bad I really wanted to do it again.”
Hotch shot you a devilish grin.
“So where do you have in mind this fine morning?”
You knew, whenever he got to chose the breakfast place he picked the same one
“I was just thinking the coffee place”
Moon rise coffee.
Exactly your guess.
He would get 3 eggs with whole wheat toast, bacon and a cup of black coffee.
You already knew that.
The BAU was slow today, which infact was coming to an end. Good thing too beck you were definitely ill. There was a high possibility you had a fever and you felt like you had been punched repeatedly in the chest. There was nothing you could do except hope to sleep it off so you watched the clock and the minute hand crawled by.
457-458–459— and there you go. You leave all your things at our desk only grabbing a small file.
The stairs up to hotches office literally took the life out of you. By the time you were at the top you were panting and sweating.
You finally made it and as you walked in Hotches gaze shot up. It started as happily supprised but quickly turned into a concerning tone.
He got up quickly meeting you in front of his desk where you had already sunk into a chair and were holding out the file limply.
“How are you feeling? I know you said you were getting sick but you look like your in pain.”
You were, your chest ached, head was pounding, it was the worst you’ve felt in a long time.
“Ehh I’ve been better” you say sheepishly
“I’ll be fine after a good sleep, which is why I came to say farewell.” You smile and begin you begin to get out of the chair you had melted into. Hotch quickly reached around his desk to get his bag and then the coat off his chair.
“I’ll come with you” he said as he slipped on one sleeve.
“Really, your going home at a reasonable time?” It was not somthing that happened regularly, he was normally there for about 2 hr after you.
“I thought I should take you home, you really don’t seem ok.”
He seemed genuine in his concern and you know how things this like this really fuck with his ability to be in control so you try not to seem too offended by his insinuation you could not make it home.
“Alright Hotchner, I’ll let you take me home but I don’t think you’ll be safe from the rest of the children out there.” You notion to the rest of the team now gathering in the bullpen before they all leave for the night.
It was harder than it should have been to go from sitting to standing, for about 10 seconds you were so dizzy you couldn’t see but as it passes you started to leave.
Grabbing your things you give a quick nod to the rest of the team and turn to leave.
“Wait your leaving too?” Morgan Looks at hotch and with a giddy tone spits out
“I see your girls got you on normal time now!” The team laughs as hotch shakes his head. He wants to retort but you are already so far ahead he chooses to follow.
Yet in passing his throws in “have a good night guys”
You had done so well up to this point, the bullpen, the elevator, the halls, the car garage but now as soon as you were reaching the car you weren’t doing well at all. There was a tightening in your chest and it was getting hard to breath. Hotch had already slipped into the drivers seat but as you went for the handle you collapsed.
You could not see or hear or move. It was all loud and bright. You thought you heard you name being yelled but at this point you couldn’t respond.
“Y/N!”
Hotch jumped out of the car, bolting to your side as he trys to get any response at all.
“Hey! Hey!” He softly shakes you but to no success.
From what he could see you were shaking, breathing heavy and ragged, and you were burning up.
You can see the panic in his eyes, the pain even though you were barely conscious. He was shaking as his hands slip under your head and knees as he slips you into the passengers seat.
Hotch knew he could get you to a hospital faster than an ambulance could get there. It was only 3 blocks away but it felt like miles. For you and him.
“We’re almost there… just hold on… please.” He was pleading as he reached over to your face. His hands were unnaturally cold because of your fever but his touch helped you feel safe.
At the hospital he grasp onto your hand for as long as they would let him before you were wheeled into the emergency room.
Upon your arival they had asked him so many questions. It was all a blur. Your name, blood type, all about the car accident and even if you were pregnant. He answered the best he could but his mind was going a million miles an hour. He was sweating and shaking and as the doors slammed behind your gurney a wave of nausea slammed into him.
Hotch turned to the waist basket at the side of the check in desk and proceeded to vommit.
A stranger waiting in the lobby came to his side.
“Hey are you alright?”
At this point he was dry heaving and could feel tears boiling up in the back of his eyes.
After a moment he seems to gain back control of his body and try’s to stand
“How about we get you to a seat”
Said the stranger
“Thank you.” Hotch grumbles
——————-
Waiting was the hardest.
At this point the team had come in, they didn’t get the call untill well after they had become heavily intoxicated at their normal bar. When they all did come in hotch didn’t even notice. His head was in his hands, elbows resting on restless legs.
“Hotch!”
“Is she ok?!”
“What happened!?”
He was unresponsive, tied up in his head.
Rossi promptly took the seat next to him and placed a hand on Aaron’s back.
He flinched and looked up swiftly. Rossi could see the redness in his eyes paired with confusion and pain.
Rossi quieted the questions with a
“Give him some room and go ask her” he was pointing to the desk attendant.
The team did as they were told leaving aaron and Rossi alone for a moment.
“Are you ok?” A question no one had asked hotch yet. After a long moment and stiff inhale he responded in a hushed sigh
“I can’t even think Dave…. She was fine, sick but fine and then she was on the ground. They said they couldn’t find a… a heart beat …..”
he paused for a moment taking in a shaky breath. “ I can’t do this again.. I can’t..” he stops as he try’s to gain some composure before he starts crying.
Rossi can see that he is badly holding it together and places his hand on Aaron’s shoulder in a comforting way.
Morgan walked over to where Rossi and hotch were cornered in the waiting room.
“She doesn’t know anything” he scoffs
————
It’s been 2 hours since Aaron carried you into the ER and there was no update. At some point somone had called your brother, the only family you had, but he was over 6 hours away and wouldn’t be there till the next morning. The feeling that you would wake up alone kept Aaron locked into his chair. When he had delicately placed you on the stretcher his hands lingered under you. With Hailey he knew, immediately that it would be the last time he touched her. With you he didn’t know.
He tried to think back to when the last time he kissed you was. That morning. The last time he said he loved you? He couldn’t remember if he had said it after he left you last night. He couldn’t remember! He must have said it within the last couple of days but he couldn’t remember.
That’s what he thought about as he waited.
“Aaron, can I get you a coffee or anything?” Emily asks softly.
“Um sure, black” he was exhausted.
“You got it. Anyone else?”
Morgan and Reid volunteered to come with.
Emotionally the team was struggling. Emily was basically your best friend. You went out with the team almost every weekend as if spending all your time with them wasn’t enough. Morgan loved you like a sister. Reid looked up to you in a way that he didn’t with anyone else. You and Garcia we a little unit, always finishing each other deductions, mainly live had been saved based on your communal quick wit. Rossi was like a father to you even though you would never admit it to his face. JJ, even though you two didn’t always see eye to eye she loved you. They all did.
————
At the 3.5 hour mark a young looking nurse came out of the doors to the ER.
“Y/n L/n?”
As soon as he heard your name Hotch jumped up along with the rest of the team.
The nurse explained how you had suffered from internal bleeding along with a small tear and swelling in the tissue surrounding you heart and that they were still working on stoping the bleeding.
The car accident.
It made his stomach churn. He should have known, he was there. He saw you everyday since. There were small winces here and there like at his dinner table two nights before when you tryed to get out of your chair. He should have pushed you to go to the hospital. He should have.
———
6 hour mark came and went with no updates. Everyone but Hotch Rossi and Emily had gone home to rest. Deciding who would go was harder than it seemed. They all wanted to stay, but Rossi made the decision for them. It was for the best, someone had to go into work tomorrow.
———
11 hours in and the doctor finally came into the lobby.
Rossi and Emily had dozed off but Hotch was wide awake.
His arms were crossed and he was watching the ceiling, lost in thought.
He almost didn’t hear when your name was called. After a dazed second he jumped up again.
Emily woke up immediately but she had to slap Rossi’s stomach with the back of her hand to get his attention.
“It’s just too soon to know” it was a punch in the gut and Aaron could feel the air get sucked out of the room.
The exhausted looking physician explained slowly that you had coded 4 separate times once for 6 and a half minute which has caused your brain to receive very low amounts of oxygen.
They were able to stabilize you but until you woke up there was no way to know the damage done to your brain.
“When can I… when can I see her?”
“She is in the ICU so family can visit now, are you family?”
“YES” Emily chimed in.
Hotch turned to her and with a quick nod she continued.
“He’s her husband”
He wasn’t but with quick thinking on Emily’s part now Aaron could see you.
He was more thankful than Emily could ever know. As the doctor led him to your room he mouthed a ‘thank you’ over his shoulder.
He was almost running as he honed in on your room.
As he cleared the doorway he stoped.
Seeing you lying there with a tube coming out of your mouth, arms, stomach and wires crossed hectically over your chest he felt dizzy. He carefully picked up your hand as he knelt next to your bed.
It was cool and limp as he raised it to his face, kissing your palm as he did so.
“Oh… my love” he tenderly stroked your cheak as a tear fell down his.
——-
On the morning of the 4th day at around 5:14 am you woke up.
There was the sunrise coming up in the window but the light was faint. It was quiet except for the beeping of some machines. The birds are what you hear first though. Slight chirps pour in though an open window.
When you slept, you always left a window open. The only thing that would stop you is below zero temps. Yes, you had only been dating for a month but Aaron had a lot of time to study you before his skills were tested. He noticed your tendency to leave the car windows open and if any office you used on a case had one you would open it.
He opened your hospital room window on the first night.
You weren’t in the icu anymore which was a significant step. The fact that you had slept for 4days wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, the doctor explained. “She lost a lot of blood Mr.Hotchner, the trauma her body is dealing with right now maybe too much for her to handle awake and she just needs some time to heal.”
On the third day they took out the intubation but you still had a nasty drain coming out of your side.
It turns out it was very lucky that Aaron was there. The team made a schedule for him -and you- so that he could also go home to jack.
He was at the hospital from dawn to when he picked Jack up from school. And repeated for the first 3 days but on the 4th he planed to go into work. He wanted to see you one more time before he went back so he got there at around 445. The night staff let him in, federal badges do have a bit of power, and he sat quietly in the chair next to your bed. He was looking at case files that the team have had for 4 day already but he is just getting a chance to look it over.
By 513 he is done with the inicial interview folder and is trying to find the some paperwork he had to sign when he thought he saw something. It was still darkish outside but he swore he saw your hand move.
And then
He saw it again.
Your pale hand grasping for something.
He slid all of the paper off his lap and stood. He shifted over to the edge of your bed when you make a faint groan as he takes your hand, sandwiching it between his.
And your eyes open. Just slightly at first as you get used to the light. And then your staring into his.
He leans in swiftly making you recoil slightly. Trying to not move you as much as he can he only leans in to hug you so that you nesiled your head to his shoulder, you hand coming up to meet his back, just barely touching him. He pulled back after a few moments and kissed you. Your lips were chapped and you barely could muster the energy to kiss back. He sat for a while just kissing you , he pecks the side of your mouth as he pulls away.
“…what… what happened?” Your voice was horse from the intubation.
“You scared the shit out of me that’s what.” He chokes out. You grimace slightly as you start to assess the damage to your body. Everything hurt, your chest, your legs, veins, all of it.
Aaron explained what happened and you express the same confusion he did when he first found you keeled over.
“I was fine… how didn’t I know?” You almost whispered as a tear rain down the side of your exhausted face.
“They said the internal bleeding started very small and it was just eventually too much. They think it was from the car accident.” He paused as he just watched you. Just the fact you were animated in front of him put all his fear and panic on the back burner of his mind. He reached out and brushed your hair to one side of your face.
“… I was so sacred y/n. You died… four times…” his breath became ragged and he looked down at the hand he had of yours.
“I know” your tone is supposed to be comforting but as you breath in a little more deeply than before you shudder. Grasping his hand tighter, looking up at the ceiling as your mouth mimics a small yelp yet no sound emerged. It feels like your chest is on fire. Aaron looked up at your contorted face and quickly reached over to hit the nurses button.
“They should adjust your meds, your shouldn’t be in this much pain.”
The nurse came in and upon seeing you and Aaron a large smile crept across her face.
She had only seen Hotch as his completely heart broken and lost self as he watched you.
“Thank god!” She said in a volume neither of you had prepared for making you both turn to the door and jump back a bit.
She silently apologized for her loudness and began too look over all your readings and chart.
“Agent Hotchner would you mind moving to the chair” she motioned.
He slipped back but he moved the chair even closer to the bed so that they were almost over lapping.
The nurse proceeds to listen to your heart rate.
“She’s in pain, can you give her somthing?”
“Unfortunately we have given her almost all that we can,(she turns to you) your heart is damaged which mean we really can’t put much stress on it or we risk you having a heart attack on us.”
“Mhh” you grunt.
“So there’s nothing, nothing you can do”
You can hear him start to get pissed.
“Aaron it’s fine, I’m alright” you give him the best smile you can muster, which isn’t very convincing. “You don’t want me to have a heart attack after all this do ya.” You let out a short breathy laugh.
He only stairs at you as the nurse starts to leave.
“The doctor will be in at about 6 but from what I can see your doing well, is there anything i can do to make you more comfortable. Raising your head might release some of the pressure in your chest.”
You nod swiftly. that’s all you wanted.
She began to tilt the bed so you were slightly sitting. The release of pressure on your lungs and chest resulted in a small gasp for you as your breath deepened.
Even though your eyes were closed you could feel his focused on you. It only took one or two slightly pained breaths for your rhythm to become even. You did sound better than when you were horizontal.
The nurse left quicky afterwards, at this point it was 545, and hotch knew Rossi would be awake. There was no way he was going into work. Absolutely no chance he would leave you now that your finally awake and he could breathe again. He just needed some time to fully process that your alive and seemingly ok. He quickly shot Rossi a text “ she’s awake, I’m not coming in”
“So what have I missed?” you ask in a slightly raspy voice motioning to the mess of papers on the ground with a slight jesture from your Iv covered hand.
Aaron let’s out an emotionless laugh and looks at the floor for a quick second before joining your eyes.
“It hasn’t even been an hour and you already want to talk about work?”
“I will talk about anything Aaron,” you say defeated. You just wanted to hear his voice, hold his hand and… sleep. It seemed odd how tired you for how long you had just slept.
“, please just talk” you can feel your impulse to cry is peeking through. He can hear it in your voice.
He has been so worried about your physical condition he hasn’t even thought of the damage it had done to your mind. You were scared out of your mind and in pain.
He knew how to comfort you through words.
“Ok my love, ok.” He kissed your hand and began describing the case the files scattered on the floor held.
Everyonce in a while you would ask a question like “ what did the ME say?” Or “ do you beleive him?” Just like at the round table in the bau. Now you just had to close your eyes and imagine it.
There was a smile across hotches face, he explained more as he picked up and read the folders.
Eventually you fell asleep.

Skeleton's kid plays with a ball on the side of the road. The ball escapes their hand and falls on the road. The kid runs after but a huge truck is coming at full speed on them. Reaction?
Undertale Sans - He had never teleported so fast in his life. In the blink of an eye, he grabs the kid and teleports to the other side of the road, nearly seconds before they die. Sans' soul is beating so fast he needs a minute to calm down, hugging the kid against him. He's kinda paranoid now every time the kid is playing in the street.
Undertale Papyrus - He knows he can't go there in time so he makes a drastic choice and summons a massive bone right in front of the truck. The hit took almost all of his HP, but the truck stopped. Papyrus waits for his kid to come back to him, checks if the truck driver is okay, asks them to call for an ambulance, then faints, exhausted. The kid feels guilty, but Papyrus is glad he saved them.
Underswap Sans - No hesitation. He runs in front of the truck and pushes the kid out of the way before getting hit himself by the truck. He flies on several meters, trying to control the damage but not really being able to do it. Then blackout. He wakes up on the sidewalk and knows immediately that most of his ribs are broken. Could have been worse. At least he's not dead. He just whines pathetically and waits for help.
Underswap Papyrus - He screams to the driver to stop, but is not fast enough. He shuts his eyes close when he hears his child scream and the brutal shock. Honey looks up and sees his child on the floor, not moving. He starts to hyperventilate, then runs to them. They're alive but covered with blood and unconscious. He doesn't know where he found the strength to call for an ambulance along the way, but he had to do it because an ambulance came. He's too in shock to even talk, and just let the rescuers take him with his kid to the hospital. The kid injuries are impressive, but actually not that terrible. He got out of there with only a broken leg, which could have been way worse.
Underfell Sans - He teleports inside the truck and turns the wheel, crashing the truck in his own house instead of the kid. The hit is quite brutal, but the airbags thankfully help to soften the arrival. Red is hyperventilating and immediately teleports out to check on the kid. The kid looks at him in shock, as he has obviously a broken arm, but it's fine. Red is just happy he's alright, he gives no shit about the driver though.
Underfell Papyrus - He jumps on the kid and rolls over on the sideway, barely avoiding the truck. His whole back and the kid's face are bruised, but they're alive. Edge can't believe the truck driver didn't even stop to check on them. He's taking his driving plate and he's going to sue them. He's the best lawyer in town, you'll see what will happen to you!
Horrortale Sans - He uses blue magic to lift the kid above the truck. The child screamed in fear but didn't get it. Oak however is exhausted after that as he can't use magic for long. Once the kid is down, he just limps against a wall to pass out without hurting himself, and has just the time to ask the kid to call Uncle Willow.
Horrortale Papyrus - He runs in front of the truck and stops it with his bare hands. Willow got dragged on several meters, but with how strong he is, the truck is forced to stop eventually, right in front of the child, both in awe and horrified. Willow's shoes are ruined and his feet are in a terrible state, his back is screaming in agony, but he doesn't care. The kid is safe. Willow won't be able to get up for a few weeks after that, while he recovered. He doesn't care. He's fine with pain so far a new life didn't get lost. And he gets to not do anything in the house so yeah, it's cool.
Swapfell Sans - He screams to the kid to lie down. The kid obeys in seconds and has to watch in absolute terror as the truck passes over him, the wheel on each side of his body, barely missing them. Nox runs to them to make sure they're fine afterward. The truck didn't even stop. He's so mad. The kid get lectured to death for this, but he's also going to find that truck driver and makes him pay.
Swapfell Papyrus - Rus is not fast enough. He jumps on the kid and protects them with his body as they are both hit by the truck. The kid is lightly injured thanks to him, but Rus on the other side... He's unconscious, and not in good condition. He will have to go through a few months of coma before waking up and starting a long recovery. He's glad he saved the kid though.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He yeets the child on the other side of the road with a bone. The kid starts to cry because Wine bonked his head, but hey, they're alive so stop that. Wine is going to lecture them like an angry mom about the danger of the road. What were you even thinking?!
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He screams so loudly it scares the truck driver and makes him hit a pole instead of the child. Coffee frowns. Uh. Is that a superpower or something? Weird. The kid goes to hide from him in a bin as his own punishment. As father, as child...

You were his first kiss.
As Jake headed to the bus after school in sixth grade, you popped out and dragged him into an empty classroom. Before he could ask what you were doing, you pressed your lips firmly against his. It was your typical closed lip, “smash my face into yours” sort of juvenile kiss, but it still made Jake’s head spin. As you stepped back, a sheepish smile on your face, he stared at you with his jaw hanging open. But then you tore from the room and Jake ended up missing the bus.
However, he didn’t stay speechless for long. The next day, he asked you to get ice cream after school and his best friend quickly became his girlfriend.
You were his first time.
Your parents were naive to allow two fifteen-year-olds to study alone in their house while they were at work. As soon as Jake walked in the door, you took his hand and led him into your room. Sitting him down on the bed, you stood before him while you tugged your shirt over your head. Jake was once again left in a stunned silence, even as you climbed onto his lap and unhooked your bra.
What happened next was awkward, and clumsy, and over way too quickly, but neither of you really seemed to mind. In fact, despite how much the two of you improved over the years, that first time always held a special place in Jake’s heart.
You were his first forever.
The night he came home from the Academy, Jake got down on one knee in front of you. He had planned to make it special, to really blow you away with his proposal, but he didn’t even fully make it through the front door before he couldn’t wait any longer. He knew he had missed you, but he hadn’t realized how much until he laid eyes on you again.
You fell to your knees beside him, covering his face with your kisses and your tears as you cried “Yes!” over and over again. And though you both knew it would have to be a long engagement with Jake’s burgeoning career, it didn’t matter because you were his and he was yours. For the rest of your lives.
You were his first loss.
The two of you were heading home after celebrating the news that he had been accepted into Top Gun. While it meant having to delay the wedding yet again, you had been nothing but supportive and overjoyed to hear about Jake’s accomplishment and it made his selection all the more special to him.
It was late and Jake glanced over to look at you resting your head on the passenger window. You looked so beautiful in the dim light that it was hard to look away. Jake never saw the semi that ran the red light until it plowed into the side of his truck.
The world exploded in a shower of glass and metal. Jake was thrown from the truck but luckily, he soared over the asphalt and tumbled into the snow on the side of the road. It was still a rough landing and he was left dazed for several minutes. When he regained some semblance of coherence, he lifted his head to see the burning remnants of his truck in front of him.
Despite the pain in his side from what felt like broken ribs, or the soreness of every muscle in his body, Jake scrambled to his feet and woozily stumbled towards the passenger side. As he approached, he could see you shifting slightly in the seat where you were still strapped down which seemed like a good sign. But as he got closer, he had to stop himself from falling to his knees in dismay.
During the collision, your head must have slammed violently into the passenger window. It had shattered on impact and pieces of glass jutted from your scalp. The right side of your head was drenched in blood which cascaded down your face, obscuring your right eye. Your left pupil was blown wide, almost completely dilated, and though he was just inches in front of you, Jake could tell you were struggling to focus on him. There was no doubt that you had a severe concussion, if not something much worse.
When he reached you and carefully pried open what was left of your door, your lips began to move, though no sound came out. Finally, you managed a weak, “Ja–... J–...Ja–...” Your speech was slurred and stilted and it seemed as if you were struggling to form complete words.
Jake took your hand. “I’m here, baby. I’m here.”
“He–...Hea–.... Head.”
“I know. I know your head hurts. But help is coming and they’re gonna get you patched right up and give you something for the pain. I just need you to hold on.” He squeezed your hand tighter as if doing so would transfer some of his strength into you.
Your lips began to move again, but the words took longer to come this time. Eventually, Jake could hear your whisper, “L–…L–…Lo–…Love…. Ooo.”
Jake had to bite his lip to keep his sob from tearing from his chest. Once he managed to choke it down, he brushed your hair gently from the uninjured side of your face and said, “I love you too. So much.”
Carefully, he leaned over and pressed his lips to yours. It was a chaste kiss, yet a fierce one and it reminded Jake of your first kiss all those years ago. Though this time instead of strawberry lip gloss, your lips tasted of iron and rust.
When he pulled back, a ghost of a smile flickered across your lips seconds before everything dimmed as if someone just unplugged you. You went slack and your one visible eye stared off into nothingness.
Jake felt his heart shatter as he desperately clutched at your limp body, frantic for the slightest hope he was wrong. “No, no, no. Baby, come on. Stay with me. Please. Come on. No. No…. no.”
He buried his face into your still chest, tears stinging his eyes. And though he could hear the sounds of ambulances quickly approaching, he knew it was too late.
You were his first kiss. But he was your last.

your muse has a sudden, near-death experience appropriate to their universe (almost hit by traffic, fell off a horse, got mugged at knife point, was sniped from a building, etc). how do they react, how do they process the 'i almost died today'? do they reach out to their loved ones? do they tell anyone it happened at all? do they have a new 'carpe diem' attitude?

You know how when it rains it pours? Yeah. So. My sibling got into a massive car wreck right as they were about to turn into my townhome complex. Their car flipped twice and they were stuck inside it. They called me while literally dangling from their seatbelt, saying they got in an accident and couldn’t get out. I sprinted down the road and got there right as first responders were arriving. Their vehicle was on its side in the grass on the side of the road, and I could see them behind the cracked windshield but I couldn’t get to them or help or do anything. It was. Truly terrifying. They were just trapped.
I collapsed on the grass and was just sobbing hysterically. Like completely hyperventilating, losing my shit. I can’t remember the last time I was that scared. It was so scary. My wife was there too and she was being so brave and she was comforting me and she called my mom and helped coordinate getting other family out here to help. One of the firefighters was so kind too. When I sobbed at him that that was my sibling in there, he followed me to my spot on the grass and he crouched down and he told me that they were looking okay, they were able to speak and were alert. He told me their whole plan for rescuing them and promised they were working as fast as they could. It was a true Mr. Rogers “look for the helpers” moment. It was so meaningful.
But yeah then I had to watch as they cut the roof off the car and extricated my sibling out the top. I called my brother completely inconsolable; my wife had to take the phone to explain what was happening. When they got D out, they were experiencing extreme pain in their side where their car had been t-boned, and they were wearing a c collar. The paramedics loaded them up into an ambulance and said that if they hadn’t had side airbags, this would’ve been a different story. So I’m very fucking relieved for that.
My wife and I followed them to the hospital, and when we got there, D was getting a CT scan so we had to wait a bit. My mom came. Then they would only let one of us back there at a time, and I went first (I claimed that spot since I’m their emergency contact). Man they were in so much pain. They got a dose of hydromorphone but it just wasn’t helping and there weren’t any nurses around and I was just…barely keeping it together. It was horrible watching them be in so much pain and so upset and scared. I finally found someone to help but I was switching like crazy and just could barely stay an adult. Eventually the doctor came back and said that nothing is broken and there was no internal bleeding, but they did have a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Otherwise just bruised ribs and bruising to the skin and muscles.
The doctor said the pneumothorax would hopefully resolve on its own but that they needed to stay overnight for observation. I also was able to swap out with my mom who was able to pester them to get D a pain patch for the collapsed lung side. Mom is staying with them until midnight and then my wife is gonna stay the night with them. I’m gonna help everyone by NOT doing that. Man the moment we walked out of the hospital, I suddenly realized I was in immense pain myself. My back was excruciating. My legs are hurting a lot too from all the standing.
I feel like my body hasn’t realized it’s over yet? I keep reliving running up and seeing them trapped. I keep hearing them calling me saying they can’t get out. I keep seeing the firefighters taking the roof off. I keep seeing them in unbearable pain, becoming disoriented and almost passing out. I keep seeing myself walking around the hospital, feeling so small and trying so hard to be brave and trying so hard to find someone to help. I keep hearing a tiny voice coming out of my mouth saying, “um something’s wrong with my sister! She needs help!” Over and over. I don’t know how to get out of it. I never want to see a loved one get cut out of a car ever again. I never want to feel that helpless ever again.
(Pictures of the accident below the cut)
Tumblr media
This was what I walked up to. They’re behind the cracked windshield. Firefighters hadn’t gotten there yet. Just police. And there’s a construction worker who heard it and called it in. I was running down a sidewalk off the right side of the picture. Running towards them. Never ran that fast in brutal heat before in my life.
Tumblr media
This was how they got them out.
Tumblr media
That’s what I could see from behind as I ran up the sidewalk. This was after the scene had been cleared and a tow truck arrived.
I was livid at how there had been so many bystanders watching and taking pictures and video while all of it was happening. It felt so violating. Like this is my family!!! And we’re all very scared!!! Go away!!!

I was late for work, so my boyfriend drove me. He ran over a kid right in front of my coworkers, embarrassing me. I woke up in a panic 5 minutes before my alarm went off.

it's fun having the kind of OCD where you get intrusive thoughts about people you know getting hurt in car accidents and it can spiral out into bad panic meltdowns because it feels really real if you can't get in touch with the person you're worried about
and then having that specific fear come true TWICE. This time it's a friendly acquaintance we were waiting to hear back from for 8 hours before finding that out while I was like haha my anxiety isn't real they're just busy they have kids :) they're alive and responding but Not Well

Hiiiii, can we talk how would Cheong-Shin react when you get hurt? He is 9348490% an over protective cutie
Absolutely, let's do that.
Minor Injuries.
Be it something as small as a scrape on your knee, or a graze on your arm, Cheong-Sin spends precious time patching you up.
He'll clean each wound meticulously, giving you small kisses to try and distract you from the pain from the rubbing alcohol.
Finally, before putting plasters or any sort of covering, he'll kiss each wound, and even with no proper evidence, you both swore that it made them heal faster.
Major Injuries.
(TW: car accident, mentions of murder, broken bones, drunk driving )
A/N: The police number in South Korea is 112, and ambulance/fire dept. is 119
Also potentially unrealistic injuries, I've never been hit by a car so I wouldn't know
Let's be honest here. Cheong-Sin doesn't let you get badly hurt.
When you go out, he's with you.
When you're at home, he's with you.
When you're out with friends, he may not be directly by your side, but he'll be in the area.
However, with the Counters after him now, he had to spend more and more time away, leaving you vulnerable to whatever society had to throw at you. He couldn't even use a proper phone, lest it get tracked and traced back to you.
You, on the other hand, didn't know what was happening to him. He'd be with you for a few days, then disappear for a week, with barely any notice. You couldn't even call to ask where he went, due to the dangerous nature of his job. But sometimes he'd call you with a burner phone, just to check on you.
(You don't know what he actually does, but he's told you he's an agent of some sort, which excuses these absences.)
So, on one of the days he isn't in, you go out to buy groceries. It's weird not having him with you. It feels like you're missing something. Not as large as an arm, nor as painful as a heart. Just a presence. A sense of safety.
But it was fine, right? You'd been okay without him before, you'd be alright now.
You stepped out of your apartment building into the not-so-busy streets of Jungjin. The occasional car streamed down the road. The sky was a pale grey, the sun a light spot against the cloud cover. Not much was going on today. Oh well.
You turned the corner onto the street that led to the grocery store, making sure to step over the ground tile that stuck slightly up as you removed your earphones from your pocket.
What to listen to?
(or replace that with your favourite song)
The tunes swirled around in your mind as you turned up the volume, blocking out the boring environment, blocking out practically anything that could be heard. Which was technically unsafe, but this was a relatively safe city. The street was also empty, except for a few people in cafés, so you'd be fine.
You started to recount your grocery list in your head.
"Milk, eggs, ramyeon, [favourite food], carrots, bread, cere—"
*SCREECH*
A sharp pain, a sensation of flying, and the world went dark.
It was a shame you couldn't hear what was going on around you, or you would have heard a faint rumbling behind you, and might have been able to jump out of the way of the car that had sped onto the pavement.
Your unconscious body was sprawled out on the ground, head and nose bleeding.
The people in the cafés began to pour out, having seen the car through the glass. Several people called 112, others called 119.
Coincidentally, your phone began to ring. Unknown Number.
In a hotel on the far side of Jungjin, Ji Cheong-Sin typed your number into his burner phone.
"Who you calling?" asked a voice from across the room. He looked up to see Hyang-hui standing there, smiling as always.
"None of your business." he replied, letting the phone ring.
"Aw, who is it? Come on, tell me!"
"I said, it's none of your business."
"Damn, why so cagey? Don't tell me you've got a secret girlfriend or something?"
He put his hand on the bed, as to stand up.
"Damn, ok! I'll leave you alone then!" she said, slipping out of the door.
He sighed and sat back down. You weren't picking up the phone. That was very strange.
Normally you either picked up, or messaged saying you were at work, but no response at all? That was odd.
He called again.
As you were carried into the ambulance, your eyes began to crack open.
You raised your hand to your face, shielding your eyes from the light. Murmurs surrounded you. A face entered your frame of view.
"She's awake." it said, standing up.
A collective sigh of relief filled the vehicle.
"Ma'am, do you feel pain anywhere?" asked another one.
"Mhh...what?"
Then the pain did kick in. Your arm shot to your knee, it felt like you'd, well, you didn't know what it felt like, but it hurt.
The care assistants took a quick glance, and it was quite clear to see. Your kneecap was deformed. Fractured.
"Kiyo, I need a splint, Hyun-dae, tell the hospital about the patient." said one of the people.
"Gotcha Jae-dal." replied another.
Cheong-sin was getting worried now. Normally you'd have sent him a message or something, but you just hadn't responded at all.
"Cheong-sin? Is your secret girlfriend not replying?" called Hyang-hui from outside the door. Her footsteps retreated into the other room as Cheong-sin got up. He threw the door open but instead of confronting her, he approached the door out their hotel suite.
"Where are you going?"
"Out."
"You know the Counters are looking for you, right?"
"Don't care. I'll be back in a few hours."
"Hours?! Where are y—"
Cheong-sin closed the door.
After hailing a taxi, and paying the driver to go faster than was safe, he got off in front of your apartment building. He ran up the stairs, and hastily unlocked the door with the key you had given him.
Empty.
Now he was really worried. Not picking calls, not in your apartment, where would you be? Was he being obsessive? No, he wasn't.
*buzz* *buzz*
He yanked his phone from his pocket, to see two nerve-clenching messages.
"am in the hopsital"
"*hospital"
He could not have run faster.
You lay in your hospital bed after seeing the 4 missed calls from an unknown number. Cheong-sin was definitely worried about you. Well, you were worried about him too, you didn't want him to get hurt in his job as some sort of secret agent.
"Can I go to the place where you go home? My boyfriend's gonna be worried."
"Well we should keep you here for a bit, just to make sure your condition is stable."
"Well, I feel fine. My leg and hand hurt, but we established that in the ambulance. Can I go?" you asked.
"We don't advise it."
"I'll be fine. Is there like a form or something I can sign so I can leave?"
"Alright then. Yes, there is."
After signing, you were provided a pair of crutches, and assisted to the exit.
The next few seconds felt like a lifetime for Cheong-sin. As you came into frame, knee in a cast, and crutches under your shoulders, his heart sank. He rushed forward, eyes almost glassy.
"This is what happens when you form human connections, they're weak. They get hurt. Why not just kill her and save yourself the pain?", whispered the spirit, but Cheong-sin paid no notice. That was the furthest thing from his mind right now.
He pulled you close, burying his head into your shoulder, lifting you off the ground slightly.
You wrapped a feeble arm around him, smiling.
"I'm so, so sorry. If only I had been there I could've—"
"Quiet, aegiya." you said, pressing a hand to his mouth. "If you'd been there, you'd only have gotten hurt yourself."
"But I wouldn't have been." he started, pulling your hand away. "I could have got you out of the way, or stopped the car, or— I'm so sorry." he replied, squeezing your hand tightly.
Cheong-sin carried you in his arms all the way home. No matter how much you said you could walk, he refused to let you. You'd already been hurt enough.
He wouldn't be returning to the hotel tonight. Hyang-hui could wait.
Recovery.
Cheong-sin would try his best to be around for your recovery, but obviously he couldn't, but every chance he got he'd stay by your side, get you food, water, things to do, check on your situation, by phone if he couldn't be there in person. You wouldn't be able to worsen the injury even if you tried, despite what the hospital said. Your leg was immobilised, as was your [non-dominant] hand, so nothing could really happen to you.
The driver who had crashed into you was drunk, and was taken to the police station once the police were called. An accident took place that night.
A drunk driver was broken out of a holding cell in Jungjin police station. There were signs of a struggle, but there was no security footage for about 3 minutes in that police station. Once it came back, both drunk driver and the person who broke him out were gone.
Some people reported hearing screams late in the night, but when the area was examined, nothing was found.
No police officers had any record of this happening.
And Cheong-sin got home slightly later that night, with scarlet eyes.

not to be controversial but we need to bring back basic decorum and tact and empathy. and when i say bring it back we need to make it fucking standard. i feel like in the age of memeification and tiktok pranks people have turned to laughing at people’s pain without consideration for how it may make others feel. not everything is a damn joke.
my coworker got hit by a car a week ago while they were riding their bike to work, it was a hit and run but thankfully a bystander got the driver’s license plate. my coworker was hurt and got a pretty bad concussion. they only just returned to work, it was obviously pretty traumatic for them.
one of my other coworkers (we don’t know who) thought it would be funny to write on the whiteboard “look both ways before crossing the street” and drew a picture of someone getting ran over on a bike. obviously about my coworker. the coworker that was injured confided in me that it was very distressing to come back to work and see that shit on the whiteboard in the back, as if it’s a joke that they almost died in a hit and run. as if everyone is now just laughing at their pain. they went home early today as a result.
i don’t really know what point i’m trying to make here, but that shit just isn’t cool.

So this week was really good, started my new job and was doing really well in training and got to stay in a hotel.
This morning however just went bad to worse, the weather is awful, then I was in a car accident (I’m fine, the car isn’t) and now very shaken up. My final day of training g got cancelled and I’m having to wait for my dad to rescue me because I’m stranded due to not having a driveable car.
I’m ready to curl up in bed.
Hope your Fridays are going better.

On February 12th of this year I was involved in a serious car accident. I was the front passenger and we hydroplaned off the road going almost 60 mph into trees. I had multiple facial bone fractures, underwent a 5 hr surgery, and now I have 6 metal plates in my face. March 3rd was my surgery date, and these photos are from today, without any filters, but look how amazing my surgeon did…. Healing beautifully 🙏🏼🙌🏼
