Sheriff: Kansas man kept dogs in extreme filth, heat
GREAT BEND, Kan. (KAKE) –
A Kansas man has been arrested for animal cruelty after deputies seized several dogs that were being kept in extreme heat and filthy conditions.
Barton County deputies were called at around 4 p.m. Thursday to assist an animal control officer at All Seasons Mobile Home Park north of Great Bend. The animal control officer advised them that the Golden Belt Humane Society had made several attempts to contact the owner of four or five dogs that were locked in a motor home.
Sheriff Brian Bellendir said the owner was being uncooperative.
The ambient temperature at the time was about 85°F a temperature reading was taken inside of the motor home and found to be approximately 130°F," Sheriff Bellendir said in a news release. "Officers did not know and were unable to determine when the last time the animals were fed or watered. The dogs were also living in an extreme state of filth."

Kirstie Alley’s love for lemurs brings actress to Wichita, her ‘new favorite zoo’ | The Wichita Eagle
A love for ring-tailed lemurs brought actress Kirstie Alley to Tanganyika Wildlife Park, located just 15 miles west of her Wichita hometown.
"Last Friday, Kirstie Alley stopped by to see our lemur island," the Goddard-based wildlife park posted to Facebook. "Her passion for and knowledge about lemurs was inspiring. It was a pleasure showing her the Park and we were humbled by her tweet."
Alley’s tweet mentioned that Tanganyika Wildlife Park is her new favorite zoo.

"I have seen zoos around the world…I look for a clean intimate atmosphere that has big friendly gorgeous habitats..you gotta go to @TanganyikaPark if ur ever near Wichita Kansas!!" she posted on Friday. "My new favorite zoo!! PS tons of lemurs on their own Island!!!"
And when a Kansas City woman tweeted to Alley that she goes to Wichita just to visit Tanganyika, the Wichita native who now lives in California responded.
"The animals are treated with such beautiful care," Alley tweeted. "It’s a happy place. And super informative. This helps people have interest in animal conservation all over the world .. :)"
Alley’s love for lemurs is evident on her social media profiles.
Earlier this month, for National Pet Day, she tweeted four photos of lemurs — one who was holding a bright, yellow flower and another who had a baby lemur on its back.
#nationalpetday THIS IS US pic.twitter.com/gc860ZikWG
— Kirstie Alley (@kirstiealley) April 11, 2018
She posted to Facebook last year that she doesn’t trust people who don’t like lemurs — or Kansas.
In 2016, Alley told People magazine that she has 14 ring-tailed lemurs as pets.
“I started out (having) lemurs because they are a great animal, and I was very interested in conservation in Madagascar (where they are from) and saving rainforests and forests,” she told People. “It’s actually really easy in Los Angeles, because the climate is almost identical. And then I just fell in love with them.”
In 2017, the Wichita native told the Rachael Ray Show that she once convinced airport security that her baby lemur was a cat — even when she was asked to take the "cat" out of her carrier.
“I had this plan, I had to think of it really fast," she told Ray. "So I take her out and I keep her moving (so they can’t see her clearly), and I’m like, she’s really crazy, she’s so crazy, you don’t want to touch her. … she’ll bite you!”
Alley, the television star known for starring in "Cheers," "Dancing with the Stars" and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" was born and raised in Wichita and still has two houses on Douglas. She frequently decorates one of her Wichita homes with a wintery village scene saved from the set of her 1993 movie "Look Who’s Talking Now." That holiday tradition started in 2007.
Jimmie’s Diner owner Linda Davidson said Alley will often come by the restaurant to eat while she’s in Wichita — just like she did on this trip.
"She stops in quite frequently," Davidson said. "And her father is a regular customer."
Davidson said she was not there when Alley visited on Monday, but her staff "reported" the movie star’s visit to her. She said they try to treat her like a normal person while she’s dining there.
This is one detail that makes me love my hometown. pic.twitter.com/LdrxnzTYtZ

United mistakenly flies KS family’s dog to Japan
(CNN) – United Airlines says it’s investigating after mistakenly flying a Kansas family’s dog to Japan.
Kansas resident Kara Swindle said when she went to pick up her 10-year-old German shepherd, Irgo, from a United Airlines cargo facility in Kansas City, a Great Dane that was supposed to be flown to Japan was there instead and Irgo was actually in Japan.
Swindle said Irgo had no food or water on the 16.5-hour flight there and went three days without his ear infection medication.
Swindle told CNN that Irgo is set to be flown back from Naruto, Japan, to Denver, CO, Wednesday evening, flying first class with a human escort.
Irgo will then be flown from Denver to Wichita, KS, where Swindle will pick him up. Arrangements were also made to return the Great Dane to its owner.
United has apologized for the mix-up and said they are reaching out to the vendor kennel to investigate.
This is United’s second dog-related incident in the headlines this week. On March 12, a passenger was made to store her dog in an overhead bin on a United Airlines flight taking off from Houston.
By the time they landed in New York, the dog had died.

Did You Know Marilyn Monroe Never Actually Posed for Playboy?
It’s either really creepy or some might call it touching but the story of Marilyn Monroe never actually posing for Playboy goes a little deeper than you might think. When she was still largely unknown and trying to get her name out there she did pose nude and received $50 in modelling fees. Of course as most know she eventually went on to fame and fortune as one of the sexiest women alive, but also one of the most troubled. However, despite showing up in Playboy Monroe never once modeled for the magazine. Hugh Hefner paid $500 dollars for the photos and posted them in his magazine. He sold roughly 50,000 magazines overnight thanks to Monroe. The problem is she never saw a dime from those sales and had to even buy a magazine with her picture in it to see what people were so worked up about.
At the time she was highly embarrassed by this and worried about what it would do to her career. Thankfully it didn’t do much since she was already on a roll and would have been hard to topple off that easily. But despite all that Hefner and Monroe never met once. They spoke on the phone at least one time but beyond that she had no contact with the man. That’s why Hefner having purchased the crypt next to Marilyn’s for $75,000 seems a tad strange and kind of disturbing. Some find it touching since he wants to be interred next to his first cover girl for all eternity, while others find it kind of a sleazy intrusion that simply puts another dark mark on the record of a man that made a living exploiting women and calling it a successful business. However you feel about Hefner the idea of buying a crypt next to a famed movie starlet just so you can have the privilege of being buried next to her is kind of odd.
It might seem a lot different if the two of them had known each other and had spent time with one another throughout the years. But Monroe passed in 1962, while Hefner passed fairly recently. He had a lot of time to mourn her and say goodbye to his first real cover girl, but going this far seems to be a kind of obsession. Of course people can say whatever they want about it, no one’s really going to listen at this point or even make the argument against it. What’s done is done and there’s nothing that can change it. Thinking about it now though that was kind of a sleazy thing to do, buying up Marilyn’s pictures, showing them to thousands of people, and never giving a single cent for it. A lot of people claim that Hefner was a shrewd and cunning businessman, but in some cases he seemed a bit like a cheat, taking advantages of the women he used for his magazine and doing whatever he could to keep the lions share of the profits.
If Monroe ever had a problem with it though no one ever heard about it.

Competition, lifestyles drive trends in apartment amenities | The Wichita Eagle
The pet park is the new swimming pool when it comes to must-have apartment amenities in Wichita. Apartment dwellers need a convenient place to take out their dogs and bonding over pets is a more natural, comfortable way to meet your neighbor than putting on a bathing suit and jumping in the water together.
The most frequent search filter on Apartments.com used by housing hunters in Wichita is “dog friendly,” said Todd Galvin, the Wichita market analyst for CoStar Group, a commercial real estate information company that runs a network of home rental websites.
Jason Van Sickle, a full-time apartment developer, sees eight out of every 10 renters with a pet. He said the Chisholm Lake Apartments complex he opened in 2013 (and has since sold) near K-96 and Oliver introduced the self-service pet washing station concept to the Wichita market. Now many developments across the city have dedicated common space to wash pets, and new properties are continuing to unleash new pet-friendly amenities.
“We have a pet wash, a pet care center that has everything you need for grooming, we have an outdoor pet park and we have grilling area that allows tenants to hang out, grill and have dinner while their dog runs around,” Van Sickle said of The Flats 324 in downtown Wichita. He and Dave Burk transformed the former Wichita High School at 324 N. Emporia into 68 apartments in 2010, then in 2016 they built a 72-unit new construction expansion next door and added features to the gated complex including a swimming pool, clubhouse and the pet-friendly amenities.

The Douglas, 240 luxury apartments that opened in 2017 on the downtown block of Douglas Avenue where Fourth National Bank once stood, has a dog spa and an open-air bark park on its fourth floor where pets can go off leash and play on an agility course.
Broadway Autopark, which converted a downtown parking garage into 44 apartments with front-door parking and balconies, opened in 2017 with a dog washing station. Property manager Tamera Worman said there are plans to develop a dog park next to the property that would be easily accessible to tenants.
River Vista, the 202-unit complex opening this year on the west bank of the Arkansas River just north of Douglas Avenue, will have a dog wash area and an outdoor fenced area with artificial turf and a river view.
Catering to pet owners is just one of the ways apartment developers are competing for tenants by offering more than just a roof over their heads.
“Property management is a service industry now,” Van Sickle said. “It’s about what does the tenant need and what kind of service can we provide to make their lives better and easier. It’s been a real shift over the last 10 years.”
A 2017 Pew Research Center analysis of Census Bureau housing data reported that more U.S. households are renting than at any point in the past 50 years. The data shows movement toward renting spans age, races and income levels.
Jason Gregory, executive director for Wichita Downtown Development Corporation, attributes some of the increased renting in Wichita to people wanting mobility, from young adults with fluid careers to empty nesters who plan to travel frequently. Amenities have had to adapt as renting apartments has become a lifestyle choice for people, not a choice they have to make if they can’t afford to buy a home.
As more inventory has opened in the downtown core (879 residential units since 2010 with another 725 currently in construction or planning phase), occupancy has slipped from the 95 to 100 percent rates reported in 2016.
“I’ve talked to our property managers early this year and they are expecting leasing numbers to come back into the upper 80s and lower 90s for the year,” Gregory said of downtown apartments. “The ones with the most compelling amenities packages are the ones leasing up.”
Reinvented common spaces
Gregory said WDDC research shows that the typical downtown apartment dweller considers the entire city core as their living room, so they are OK with smaller units. To compensate for the lack of entertaining space, developers have put an emphasis on designing common spaces where their residents can comingle or entertain friends and family.
The Lux, an 86-unit property in a mid-century modern building downtown, introduced the rooftop terrace to downtown Wichita with a green patio on its third floor and a green rooftop on its eighth floor with seating, fire pits, grills and city views.
One of the more grandiose versions is The Douglas’ sky deck, an outdoor area with a saltwater wading pool, cabanas, fire pits and grills, and the sky lounge, an indoor community room with seating nooks, televisions, shuffleboard and a pool table.
Everything at River Vista is designed to take advantage of the property’s unique riverbank address, and that includes a clubhouse with a view. When it opens this spring/summer, the property will feature a large indoor clubhouse with a bar, shuffleboard and lounge areas that lead out to a resort-style pool with more seating.
The Flats 324 incorporated a full kitchen in its clubhouse so tenants can use it to host dinner parties.
Concierge services
High-end services are another trend starting to show up in the Wichita apartment market. For example, The Flats 324 offers front door trash pickup. The Douglas offers covered valet parking for residents and also has dry cleaning lockers and parcel lockers. River Vista also will have parcel lockers, which allow delivery companies to leave your package in secure storage lockers and send you a code to retrieve the package whenever it’s convenient.
Retail integration
Adding convenience to residents’ busy lives is another factor driving amenities. The clubhouse at Flats 324 includes a QuikTrip-esque café and mini-mart so you can grab a bagel and coffee before heading out to work. The Lux has two floors of commercial space, including Espresso To Go Go and Little Lion Ice Cream shops. The ground level of The Douglas houses Sente, a coffee shop with more than 200 board games to borrow. River Vista will have Boats and Bikes, where tenants can store their own equipment or rent non-motorized watercraft to take out on the water as well as wheeled equipment for land exploration.
“The focus right now is what can we do to continue to make our amenities more convenient, more original and unique because there are plenty of places to rent so you really have to compete with meaningful amenities that make people’s lives better and easier,” Van Sickle said.

If you thought Wichita’s roads were better today, you were right. Here’s why | The Wichita Eagle
If you drove to work Thursday morning through roads covered in slush, you may have remembered those same roads coated in ice two days earlier. So what was different?
There were freezing temperatures and precipitation both nights; city crews used all 60 trucks to put down sand and salt.
But the sand and salt stayed on the roads before Thursday morning’s commute while it was washed away Tuesday morning. That’s because of the type of rain, said Alan King, Wichita’s director of public works.
“You might have noticed that the results looked better, and a lot of that has to do with the weather cooperating with us,” King said. “Just as the rain comes down and then freezes, that happened again this time, but the amount that came down wasn’t so hard that it washed the roads and washed the material off, so when it started to freeze we still had some material on the roads.”

The roads were clear enough by mid-morning that half of the trucks were diverted to neighborhood feeder roads, King said. Neighborhood streets do not get treated.
Of the 5,000 lane miles of streets in the city, only the 1,500 lane miles on the primary and secondary routes get treated, which can take up to eight hours, King said. You can track city trucks and plows here: www.wichita.gov/PWU/Pages/SnowRemoval.aspx
There were still slick spots as slush remained on the primary roads Thursday morning. The trucks kept their snow blades up so they could work faster while letting traffic take care of the slush, King said.
And if this week has you concerned about the sand and salt stockpiles, don’t be. King said the city has plenty. Some of it will be used Thursday night in anticipation of more freezing.
A Thursday morning tweet from the Wichita National Weather Service showed the next batch of freezing rain moving into the area.

One woman was rescued by firefighters after her car slid into the Little Arkansas River two days after an Oklahoma game warden warmed up a bald eagle whose wings were covered in ice.
Wichita police put the emergency accident reporting plan in effect Thursday morning. It allows drivers to report a minor crash at a police station, gas station or online as long as no injuries or alcohol are involved.
If you want a better chance of avoiding a cranky state trooper, follow this Kansas kid’s advice and slow down.

Wichita State students prove age not a factor in business success
Please install the latest Adobe Flash Player Plugin to watch this content.
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A group of young Wichitans are making their business dreams a reality.
The Center for Entrepreneurship at Wichita State University (WSU) said its experienced a dramatic increase of student and faculty start-up ideas in the last two years. Currently. the Center is working with approximately 30 student and faculty ideas to assist them with development and commercialization of those ideas. Of those 30 ideas, officials said 12 businesses have launched from WSU.
Pinole Blue, an assortment of food products, bringing traditional pinole recipes from blue corn, is one of the businesses that has launched from WSU.
“Pinole is an ancient recipe since the time of the Aztecs that is when you roast and grind corn into a fine powder. The organic blue corn that we use, we are actually importing from Mexico,” said Pinole Blue CEO and Founder Eddie Sandoval. “Most people ask what does it do for me? Pinole, since it’s made out of corn, and corn being a complex carb. it will slowly break down and give you energy throughout your day.”
Sandoval, 23, and his business partner started Pinole Blue in early 2017.
“I literally started in my garage and within 3 months we sold more than 400 pounds, so that’s when I was like, OK, we need to take this more serious,” Sandoval said.
In March of 2017, Pinole Blue won the Shocker New Venture Competition, a competition designed to inspire innovation and develop entrepreneurial mindsets.
After the competition, Sandoval and his partner hit the ground running.
“It was a lot of work. You had to do it all by hand. I personally drove to Mexico, picked up the corn, drove back, did it all in my house, packaging. We would drive to the stores in Kansas City, western Kansas, Wichita, face-to-face, door-to-door sales,” Sandoval said.
Several months later and Pinole Blue has grown into a full-fledged business. Sandoval said he has products in 50 stores and a portion of the sales help support the people of the Tarahumara tribes in Mexico.
“It’s been incredible. We started literally with just brown-paper lunch bags and now we have this packaging. We have our food processing licensing. We are in a commercial space,” he said. “My ultimate goal would be we would be on the counter of a majority of the stores and people recognize our name. Pinole Blue, they’re organic and they give back to the tribe.”
Another WSU start-up business is Mobile Car Tune, a Wichita mobile auto service.
“We have mobile mechanics and detailers, so we will service cars at our customer’s location, whether they are at their office, at home or at a friend’s place,” said Mobile Car Tune CEO Jocelyn Galicia.
Galicia, 21, and her two cousins started Mobile Car Tune in 2016.
“This idea started with my two cousins who were servicing cars at their homes and other people’s homes and they wanted to grow this business, so they brought me on to help them,” Galicia said.
Soon after, the business took off. Mobile Care Tune now has four mechanics and services dozens of vehicles each month.
“I didn’t think it was really possible, but when my cousins brought me on I did what I thought would be good for the business and I slowly realized, wow, people are kind of taking us seriously, this is cool, so I started learning and educating myself,” Galisha said.
KSN asked Sandoval and Galisha what they would tell other students looking to start a business.
“I just tell them go all in,” Sandoval said. “Take risks.”
“It makes me feel like I have a duty to help others realize they can also fulfill their potential or chase their dreams and they can do it no matter what age,” Galisha said.

THUNDER SNAP OILERS STREAK IN WICHITA
WICHITA, KS – The red-hot Tulsa Oilers were cooled off Friday at INTRUST Bank Arena, as the Wichita Thunder defeated the Oilers 4-1, snapping Tulsa’s three-game winning streak.
The Oilers took an early lead when Dan DeSalvo scored on a power play as he was hooked up in the right circle. DeSalvo has three goals in his first three ECHL games since joining Tulsa on loan from the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Thunder took over from there, finishing the back half of the first frame with a 12-4 shots advantage and back-to-back goals from Shaquille Merasty and Kevin Dufour to lead the Oilers 2-1 after one.
After 27 combined shots in the opening period, the Thunder and Oilers managed just 14 combined shots in a scoreless middle stanza. Both teams were unsuccessful on three second period power plays as Wichita maintained its one-goal lead entering the third.
The Oilers were stymied by Wichita goaltender Joel Rumpel on 14 shots in the third period, as Rumpel stopped 30 of 31 in the win. Merasty added a second goal late in the third period, and Kyle Platzer buried an empty net marker in the final minute to complete the scoring.

Pregnant Wichita teen’s killer applies for clemency
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) –
Twelve years after a pregnant Wichita teenager was murdered, one of the men responsible for her death has applied for clemency.
Chelsea Brooks was nine months pregnant when she was killed. Her mother, Terri Brooks, explains how the latest news is opening up old wounds.
"It stirs it all up again," Brooks said.
Brooks has been notified by the Kansas Department of Corrections that Everett Gentry has filed for clemency. The convicted killer is asking to be released from prison or have his 25-year-to-life prison sentence for murder changed. It must be approved by the governor.
"He took two lives and I think the least that he could do is give his life," Brooks said.
KAKE News spoke with Gentry in early 2017, during a story about the prisoners work program. During the interview, Gentry said he’s reformed. He has a theology degree and works to provide for his daughter.
Gentry was 17-years-old at the time of the murders and he took responsibility for his actions, testifying against the man who strangled the pregnant teen and another man who had her killed. Both men received life sentences without parole.
"That’s something that I absolutely regret and I wish that there was a way that I could resolve that, but unfortunately all I can do at this point is move forward," Gentry said.
Brooks says it shouldn’t be that easy.
"Just because he’s done all of these things, it doesn’t make me feel like ‘oh, his sentence should be over’," Brooks said. "At any point he could’ve stopped it and he chose not to and this is the consequence of his choice."
Gentry’s application will head to the governors desk soon. The public can comment by emailing [email protected]. Subject: 0092917 Everett Gentry application for clemency

Driver crashes into Wichita home, prompting evacuations
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) –
A Sedgwick County clerk says a suspected drunk driver crashed into his neighbor’s Wichita home early Thursday morning, causing a gas leak that led to evacuations in the area.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. in the 11500 of West 17th Street North, near 119th and 13th streets. Kelly Arnold says officials with the Wichita Police Department knocked on his door, telling him there had been an accident at his next door neighbor’s house.
"… from a drunk driver driving his van into the front bedroom," Arnold said, "which created a very large gas leak. The minute I opened up the door, you could immediately smell the gas."
He shared surveillance video on his Twitter page, which shows a white Ford Econoline van come down the street and jump the curb and taking out a mailbox. The van then crashed into the home just off camera and debris can be seen flying through the air.

Joe Bickel, deputy chief of operations with the Wichita Fire Department, said the van sheered off the gas line below the ground.
"Fire crews monitored the gas levels in the house and found out it was extremely high in the basement," he said. We evacuated that house and the houses next to it."
Gas service workers had to dig next to the street to get the gas line shut down.
"They went in a took readings and found out that it was higher than what we believed it was, so they wanted us to initiate an evacuation area of approximately 500 feet around that house in case of an explosion," Bickel said.
Arnold evacuated and went to IHOP.
"You know, at 3:30 in the morning, where else do you go? It’s a small inconvenience. Luckily, nobody was hurt in this accident."
Families were allowed back in their homes at around 6 a.m.
Officer Charley Davidson said later Thursday morning that investigators believe alcohol was involved, adding that the 25-year-old driver was heading home at the time of the crash. His name was not released.

The Best Way To Find Apartment Wichita KS
If you are looking for a place to rent in Wichita, Kansas you might not know where to start. There are many apartment Wichita KS apartments to choose from. Here are some tips on finding the best apartments in the Wichita area.
Do Your Homework
You can’t try to find an apartment without doing your research first. That just will lead to you finding an overpriced apartment with none of the amenities you want. Since you are just renting an apartment, there is no need to contact a realtor.
Do a quick Google search for apartments in Wichita, Kansas to get started. You should find several sites that list the available apartments in the area. Apartment rental statuses fluctuate often. The complex that has a few openings might now have any openings, and the one that says they are filled may have three or four openings.
Once you have found a few apartment complexes that look promising, the next step is to do even more research. Google the names of each apartment complex, and read all the reviews. Throw out apartments that have poor reviews, just a few reviews, complaints about management, and complaints about crime. These places are just not worth living at.
Call The Apartment Office
If you have found a few apartments that have met your criteria, it’s time to call the apartment office. The manager or employee at the apartment complex should be great at customer service. They should have no problem answering any questions that you have about the complex.
The apartment complexes that have rude employees are just going to be representative of your whole experience living there. If they don’t care enough to be polite to a potential tenant, they aren’t going to be polite to their actual tenants.
On the phone you should be able to learn about the apartment requirements, the amount for rent, and they should make an appointment for you to come into the rental office.
Meeting At The Apartment Rental Office
Once you go go the rental office, the apartment complex should go out of there way to impress you a bit. They should be professional, and offer you water or something else to make you feel comfortable. Make sure to ask any questions that you have about living there, and they may ask you some questions as well. If you feel comfortable at the rental office, then you can move forward to become a tenant.
With these tips you should be able to find a quality apartment Wichita KS to your liking. The biggest thing is to do research. That way you aren’t risking being locked into a terrible apartment lease for years to come.
By researching the apartment online, googling specific apartment complexes, eliminating apartments with bad reviews, and judging how each complex treats their tenants you should find a great apartment in Wichita. Making a decision about where to live should not be one taken lightly, so make sure to have everything thought out before your search.

How I Found Apartments Wichita KS Has For Rent
I was looking to move out of my parents home. I had moved back there after a breakup with a boyfriend. I lived there for a few months and had finally saved up enough to move out on my own. I had wanted to move out before that, but wanted to make sure I had enough saved up for a few months of rent. I didn’t want to move in somewhere and not be able to afford it. I started searching around for apartments Wichita KS had for rent.
youtube
I went to Google and searched for apartments. I found a website with apartment listings and went to see what I could find on there. I liked this website because I was able to narrow my search down so I could find something within my price range. I found a few of them that were within my price range so I contacted the landlords through that website. While I was waiting to hear something back from them, I continued my search. I wanted to make sure I explored all my options so I could get the best price on rent and a nice apartment. I asked a friend of mine if they knew of any apartments Wichita KS has for rent. They told me that I should check Craigslist because that’s where they found their apartment. They also said Facebook was a great place to look. I decided to look on Facebook before I checked Craigslist. I went to the search on Facebook and searched for apartments Wichita KS. I found several apartments listed on Facebook and scrolled down through to check over their prices. I found a few more apartments I wanted to look at and left comments on the posts so the landlord could get back to me.
I set up appointments with all the landlords once they contacted me and looked at the apartments I was interested in renting. I was able to select which one I wanted to rent after seeing them. The apartment I chose is really nice and the rent is cheap and included the utilities in the rent. I signed the lease and moved in that weekend.
I love my new apartment and I am glad I chose to move out of my parents home. It’s really nice living on my own, which is something that I have never done before.

How To Plan A Romantic Dinner Date In Topeka, Kansas
Whether you are just starting a new relationship or have been with your partner for years, nothing beats a romantic dinner out on the town. Going to a beautifully decorated restaurant that serves amazing food can give you time to enjoy one another’s company and to learn new things about each other. You can find some tips below that will help you plan a romantic dinner date in Topeka, Kansas:
1. Think about the ambiance of the restaurant. Before you even consider what type of food you want to eat, think about the overall experience that you want to have. Typically, the best restaurants for dates are the ones that are relatively quiet. Avoid diners and sports bars, opting instead for restaurants that offer fine dining. If the restaurant is too loud, it will be hard for you to hear each other and could detract from your date.
2. Choose the right kind of food. If you don’t already know what kind of food your date likes, be sure to ask them. Additionally, don’t forget to ask if they have any allergies. That way, you can choose a restaurant that serves food that they can actually eat. If possible, browse the menu online ahead of time to make sure that there are a variety of different choices available. Don’t just think about what you would like to eat – think about your date as well. Choosing a restaurant with a well-rounded menu will help ensure that both of you can find something that you like.
3. Make sure that the restaurant has good lighting. If romance is your objective, be sure to pay attention to the lighting in the restaurant. Typically, a low level of lighting is considered more romantic than bright lights. Candles are always a plus since they add to the romantic atmosphere. You may even want to think about choosing a restaurant that has outdoor seating so that you can enjoy your meal under the stars. Just be sure to check the weather report ahead of time so that you don’t wind up freezing in the cool evening air or getting drenched by an unexpected rainstorm.
Topeka, Kansas has a lot of great restaurants where you can enjoy a romantic meal out with someone special. Be sure to plan your date ahead of time so that you can choose a place to eat that has the right atmosphere and the right type of food.
