could you talk a little bit about the narrative decisions in prince of egypt that you liked or disliked?

Narrative and plot decisions in Prince of Egypt I didn't like, in no particular order:

Making Pharaoh a symphathetic character. He was a tyrant over slaves. I get maybe emphasizing the regular Egyptians that got caught in the crossfire, but there should not be an entire fandom saying Pharaoh deserved better. Also the whole Moses and Pharaoh being brothers thing- in the Tanakh, Moses is Pharaoh's adopted grandson, son at most if maybe you want the first Pharaoh (Moses's adoptive grandfather) to die. That's an entirely different dynamic than adoptive brothers, and I think Moses facing the imposing Pharaoh whom he saw as a grandfather/father in contrast to the memory of his mother's song is much more powerful.

Not including Moses's disability. In the Tanakh he has some sort of speech impediment, and it's really important in the story. I don't like how Aaron was sidelined in the Prince of Egypt- he was Moses's interpreter!! I think it would have been really cool for a kids' movie to have a disabled protagonist, because speech impediments are really only used in movies for comedic effect or to imply a lack of intelligence or maturity in a character. Having the main character and hero of the story just happen to also have a speech impediment and have his brother as his interpreter would have been so meaningful. There's so many different angles they could have taken too- they could have made Moses a non-speaking or semi-speaking autistic person, or a Deaf person, or someone with an anxiety disorder, or someone with a neurological disorder, or someone with an injury that prevents him from speaking. All of these would have been incredible and I think it was a major loss for the film to not include Moses's disability.

Not including the kickass Jewish midwives who disobeyed Pharaoh. They could have made them seperate characters, or they could have followed Midrash and made them Yocheved and Miriam. Would have been really cool to see Yocheved risk her life not just to save Moses, but to save other babies, too, with Miriam as her assistant. Also not including Yocheved being Moses's wet nurse. In the Tanakh, Moses doesn't just get left with Pharaoh's daughter. Miriam offers Yocheved as his wet nurse, so Yocheved still gets to nurse her son. Would have been such an heartwrenching emotional plot point, for Yocheved to nurse her son and watch him grow up but not being able to tell him who she actually is. She could have sang "Deliver Us" while nursing him in Pharaoh's palace, and I think it would have hit even harder.

Not having Aaron perform the plagues of Blood, Frogs, and Lice. Moses recalling how the Nile and the earth saved him would have been so incredible, and just....justice for Aaron honestly he was completely destroyed as a character and flattened out and it feels like he was only included in the movie because they had to but they didn't flesh out his character at all and I hate it. They made him into a cowardly nobody when he was literally the first ever High Priest and Moses's interpreter and ughhhhhh

Parts of the Prince of Egypt that I loved:

"When You Believe". Just...god it makes me cry every time. The animation for this song sequence is beautiful and just...I love it.

"Through Heaven's Eyes". I love Jethro, I only wish we got more of him.

"You're Playing With The Big Boys Now". Incredible. Love the dread it makes you feel, but again, I only wish Aaron was given more of a larger role in confronting Pharaoh.

The scene with the burning bush. I like how it's animated and how it's both beautiful and terrifying at the same time- just like G-d.

The little details like the Erev Rav (Egyptians that joined the Jews when they left Egypt) and Miriam with her tambourine that shows that the creators really knew the source material......which makes it all the more disappointing that they changed really important details or omitted them, because they knew better.

There's probably more things I liked and disliked that I'm forgetting, but yeah these are the ones that I think about most.

Stephanie Nichols 12th Annual Car & Vintage Plane Show (Georgetown, TX)

I love it when cars, uh... cosplay as planes. Hah. It's a rad idea, and the top one here is a Ford Mustang... painted up like a P-51 Mustang plane. That's just cool as hell.

I wish I could remember what kind of plane this was / history it had, but my son was too busy distracting me by laughing at the giant "69."

Sexy and sleek, or a dirty rat rod? Gorgeous, no matter the condition.

UGHHHHHH. I didn't have a Trans-Am, but I did have a car almost identical to this a long ways back. I had a 1979 Firebird that had the same body as this. Built for racing (for better or worse - It literally caught on fire when I raced someone once... but, yes, I did beat him).

It was awesome being in the presence of this cousin of my old ride. All sorts of memories I probably shouldn't mention here...

This plane looked like a '60s rec room.

I also had a 1971 Volkswagen Westfalia bus, which came a few years after this one on the left. I most certainly didn't have anything like this vintage Rolls Royce showstopper on the right.

One of our favorite local planes is from World War II, and it's still flying today - A B-25 Mitchell bomber called the "Devil Dog." What an incredible machine.

There were a few vendors there, including Hot Wheels ones. I had to go home with these, they were all just $3 apiece!

Okay, I saved the best for last. Look at this sexy trike:

Also, I'm so sad Irene has to miss out on the Band of Seven. I know she's gotta sit out so Sesshomaru can grow as a person, but I'm sad she's going to miss out on the Hakushin poem/song and the chance to run into Saint Hakushin (Quick Note: Maz Koshia in the BotW DLC creeped me out so badly and gave me Inuyasha flashbacks).

Aldjsksnksnsks that’s a mood. That boss fight was absolutely fantastic though.

Irene vs Jakotsu would’ve been so hilarious and intense. Hrm. Maybe she can show up near the end and wander for a bit, so she hears the song but doesn’t actually get involved… unless she shows up just in time for Suikotsu. Maybe she can catch Rin after she falls down the waterfall!!!! 🤔 I’ll need to rewatch that season again. She’ll surprise everyone even more that way, lol.

Inuyasha: “WHERE WERE YOU SEVERAL EPISODES AGO!???”

Irene: “Trying to get back here!!!!”

Inuyasha: “EVERYONE ALMOST DIED!!! WE COULD HAVE USED YOUR HELP!!!”

Irene: “THAT’S WHY I CAME BACK!!! NOW TELL ME WHAT’S GOING ON!!!”

But anyways, her being gone during that specific point of time also gives the Inugang a good moment of, “If only Irene was here” and kinda helps cement the fact that she’s a necessary part of the team. Seeing as Irene has the ability to purify poison, having her there would have been incredibly helpful as Inuyasha wouldn’t have cried thinking everyone died from said poison and they wouldn’t have suffered against those two particular members of the Band of Seven.

Ughhhhhh now I want her to fight Suikotsu. Maybe she’ll help out with the orphans for a bit.

Here is my top ten favourite kpop releases of October 2021! Happy spooky season everyone!

1: Vibin by Youngjae.

Such a happy track that anyone can’t help but vibe to, no that was not meant as a pun, it’s just the truth.

2: K-POP by BLITZERS.

It’s a head banger; however when you look a the lyrics it’s just incredibly sad. I do love this one though.

3: Bewitched by PIXY.

I know, I know Bewitched is not the title track Addicted is, but I just LOVE Bewitched sooooo much. Don’t get me wrong I love Addicted too, as well as Still with me. Okay let’s be real here I just love PIXY plain and simple.

4: GAIA by CRAXY.

Can we just say GIRL POWER!!

5: Tamed-Dashed by ENHYPEN.

Ohhhhhh ENHYPEN does not miss. My only complaint is that I wish this had been released during summer time as this would have been a fantastic summer track.

6: WOULD YOU RUN by TRI.BE.

Wow okay what is with these new rookie girl groups. They are just killing it. I simply can’t help but sing along to the chorus of this track. absolutely recommend you check it out.

7: Favourite (Vampire) by NCT 127.

Vampires = yes ma’am. Also that chorus is so dame BEAUTIFUL!!!!

8: Black Crown by KINGDOM.

Love the concept, the choreography, the styling, the song, and just the group in general. I also just realized that KINGDOM teases their next MV at the end of their current releases, and I’m here for it.

Reacting To: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (Season 3 Episode 10)

This is it people! The series finale of Kipo; Let’s get to it.

Episode Title: Age of Wonderbeasts

Spoiler Warning: Kindly proceed if you’ve already seen the episode or are able to handle spoilers

Hopefully she’s getting dressed for her funeral lol

1. Continuing on from last episode, the fireworks rigged with the cure goes off and a bunch of embers start falling from the sky. One of the Humming Bombers got into contact with one of them while attempting to flee and immediately de-mutes. I thought the cure needed to go into their bloodstream? Unless, the ember actually burned through their skin. It that’s the case, wow that’s dark....

It’s awesome that Earl and Lily are helping Molly since Molly saved their children awhile back.

2. With her quick thinking, Kipo asks everyone to find shelter underneath her as she transforms into her Mega Jaguar form. However, that’s still not enough to protect everyone but luckily, the good humans step up to shield them with table cloths, which was heartwarming to see.

The mutes are thanking the humans for their act of kindness

OMG. Lio and Song hugging Scarlemagne? I’m here for it.

3. Thankfully, the fireworks ended and Kipo then pleads with Emilia one last time to stop what she’s doing. Emilia, hard-headed as ever isn’t one to back down at all and makes a drastic decision to inject herself with the mutagen she sourced from the Mega Walrus, transforming herself into one ugly Mega Mute.

Imagine seeing this in real life...shudders

4. I thought she was going to use the Mega Walrus’s DNA to make another cure that would affect Kipo. I didn’t think she would do this to herself. Kipo transforms back to her Mega form to take on Emilia before she could potentially hurt anyone.

How many Troyson kisses do we want? Yes...hehe

5. Troy and Benson are directing everyone back to find safety inside the old burrow while Wolf joins Kipo to assist her in battling Emilia. Kipo has the upper hand at first because Emilia isn’t used to being a Mega Mute. However, as the fight progresses, Emilia is starting to get better and is landing some solid hits on Kipo. But I feel like Kipo shouldn’t be losing to Emilia since she has much more experience fighting as a Mega. I guess they want us to feel like the stakes are high.

Man, this fight is actually pretty brutal. Emilia is whooping major jaguar ass here.

6. During the battle, Wolf notices Greta nearby and thinks that she has the cure to turn back Emilia into a human. So, hopefully they can steal the cure from Greta and use it as leverage to get Emilia to stop. They split up with Wolf going after Greta and Kipo continuing to fight off Emilia.

7. After taking a couple more punches, we see three of the Mega Dogs, the Mega Pigeon and the Mega Beaver heading their way towards the fight, with Jamack, Molly, Hoag, Amy, Zane, Label, Lio, Song, Scarlemagne, Dave, Benson and Mandu riding on them. I stan such supportive friends!

8. They each take turns kicking Emilia’s butt to buy Kipo some time to recover. Side note: It’s so cool that Jamack tells Emilia to do some “soul searching”! That’s literally the same line Kipo used on Jamack in Season 1 when he was an antagonist back then. During all of this, we see Emilia beginning to have some inner turmoil; It looks like she’s starting to lose herself in her current form.

9. We get to round 2 of Wolf vs Greta and it looks like the tables might turn in favor of Wolf but Greta is just too beefy for her to take on. While being held down in a pin, Wolf tries to butter her up with words by telling her that she’s not an idiot and she can think for herself, without the influence of Emilia. She also bribes her with all the pancakes she can eat if she hands over the cure to her and just like that, she agrees to hand it over. It’s so ironic that Greta is one of Emilia’s last followers but she’s so easily influenced to switch sides.

Again, I don’t get why Kipo is losing to Emilia so badly

10. Kipo is down for the count and Emilia turns her attention to her friends/family. As she’s about to crush Lio and Song, Kipo charges in last minute to take the devastating blow for them; She then falls unconscious. However, Emilia’s not done yet.

Scarlemagne’s death in 3...2...1

11. Oh no...here we go. Scarlemagne decides to play hero by making his attempt at saving Kipo. He basically gives his swan song to Lio and Song. I have a bad feeling he’s going to die and I’m not at all prepared to watch. He takes off on his favorite Flamingo vehicle from Season 1 and 2 and flies towards Emilia to distract her.

We haven’t heard this laugh in ages. Also, did anyone get chills when he tells Emilia to “leave her sister alone”?

12. He crashes his vehicle into Emilia causing her to lose focus and it sets off her ‘losing herself to the mega mute’ phase. This in turn, causes Scarlemagne to crash land somewhere in Skyscraper Ridge. Was it necessary for him to crash like that? If that’s the way he goes out, I’m gonna be honest here and say I would be very disappointed with that.

13. Emilia, who clearly is out of it runs off somewhere and Kipo, Wolf, Dave, Benson and Mandu all go after her with Lio and Song heading towards where Hugo/Scarlemagne crash landed. We then see the artistic representation of Emilia losing her mind to the mute, where her human form is quickly sinking deeper and deeper into the ocean.

14. They catch up to Emilia and they could see her being distraught. We also know the reason why she’s this way and it’s because she doesn’t have an anchor. I love it how whatever explanation we’re being told by the characters is something that the audience should know based on past episodes. Now that’s good storytelling.

15. Anyways, Kipo makes the decision to cure her because she thinks she doesn’t deserve to be punished this way. Really now? After all that she’s done? Maybe what Kipo means is that she deserves get whopped in her human form lol. After curing her, Kipo makes ANOTHER ATTEMPT (for the 3rd time) to convince her to make a change but of course this bitch isn’t going to change; She takes a shard of glass and tries to stab Kipo:

16. But our girl, Mandu quickly reacts and bites Emilia’s arm. She then loses her balance and falls stories high in the exact burrow her lab was located because we then see Fun Gus capturing her and taking her in as her “playdate”. Emilia is basically history.

17. Yesss! And this punishment is fitting since she will probably be Fun Gus’s plaything till she goes insane and dies. Not to mention she despises mutes. So, it’s a great way for her to go out. Bye!!! That’s what you get for killing your brother, you heartless monster. Can I also point out that once again, Mandu is the one to take out Emilia. She did beat her in season 2 when Wolf, Dave and Benson couldn’t and now in season 3, she’s the one to finish the job. Don’t mess with Mandu lol.

18. They head back to find where Scarlemagne, Lio and Song are but it’s almost too late because Hugo is dying. Kipo is in tears and I’m in tears too. Again, was it really necessary to kill him off? I felt like he’s more or less already redeemed as a character before this. He didn’t have to commit such a heroic act, which had cost his life. Ugh....And just like that, Hugo dies.....UGHHHHHH. I really don’t think he needed to die. If Catra (who committed just as many heinous acts, if not more than Hugo) got to live in She-Ra & The Princesses of Power, Hugo deserves to live too. I’m sorry...

19. Now it’s time for the epilogue set 5 years later, as told by an older Kipo. Let’s break it down:

Wolf’s Mega Corgi gave birth to a litter of puppies. Awww cuteness...

Wolf let her hair grow out and she looks AMAZING!!! Dayummmm

Benson and Troy own a successful restaurant together and they’re living the dream. Such domestic goals!

I got chills seeing Wolf and Benson walking side by side like that. They’ve grown up so much. It looks like they’re own their way to a picnic

Label and Zane is also running a gym together. Sweet!

Jamack is conductor for Las Vistas’s new transport system.

Dave is now a guest lecturer at what is seems to be Lio and Song’s new research lab, where he talks about some of his research findings and theories. Well, mostly theories.

I love Kipo’s new do’

20. We find out that Kipo is updating Hugo (spiritually) what has everybody been up to on his birthday.

Hugo gets a statue made in his honor, which is very fitting and Mandu...WOW MANDU has grown into an ADULT boar, with tusks and everything just like Bornak and Webber.

21. Kipo meets up with her besties and her family and they have their wonderful picnic in commemoration of Hugo’s birthday.

22. The scene cuts off to all of them having the time of their life riding on their Mega mutes. And that’s the official ending to the series. TEARS...

23. This has been an amazing show to watch, react and review. I can’t believe it only had 30 episodes but the story was so cohesive and felt complete on the most part. So you could say that this show wrapped up nicely. There are some loose ends that weren’t addressed/resolved at the end like the vaccine that Song and Lio were working on but I guess that could be something that’s explored further in future films hopefully.

24. I will also be making a couple of video essays that will be posted to my YouTube channel, PeterSaidWhat; The first one will be my full spoiler review of the final season and the second video will be Troyson-focused. I can’t wait for all of you to watch them. And finally, I want to thank you all for reading my episodic reviews and going on this incredible journey with me. Hai hai many thanks for thinking of me for this tag game @justine-the-guillotine !!

I always feel pressure to do these things perfectly, even though it’s just talking about things I like :’) so please bear with me in my, probably, screaming appreciation. I’ve been thinking of a list a characters for a whole day and honestly I’m suddenly blanking,,, who do I adore? lol who knows,,, Well actually you are about to know cause I am going to tell you LOL. OkAY. Enough of this blabbering, onto the list of many mens.

Please know I am excluding Lucien (MLQC) because it is obvious that I adore him to a fucking fault. If you want to see me do a whole appreciation about those him just hmu in my asks or message me and I will go on for days bby

This list is in no way order of most to least adored, I physically could not make that kind of decision jkdfjksdfh. ALSO PLS KNOW I DO SWEAR LIKE A FUCKING SAILOR AND I TALK OF SMUSHING LOVELIES OFTEN. IT”S JUST MY PERSONALITY SO SHHHHH IF YOU DON”T LIKE IT DON”T READ IT BOO, THAT SIMPLE!

Takeda Shingen (Ikemen Sengoku) - Okay, I will be honest, I was very skeptical of sengoku period romance games because I had played some in the past,,, but holy shit, Shingen blew me away. He quickly rose up the ranks of otome men in my heart, and I think about him at least once a day now. I related so much with his MC because it was so hard not to lust and swoon over that man. I have no idea how or when I fell hard for him but it happened and I am not mad at all. I self insert so much with my games,,, and it’s easy for me to slip my real feelings into my fantasies. And honestly I really wish I could have Shingen IRL, ~~though I’m sure I would absolutely freak out and hide under a rock if he ever paid me any attention. He represents the perfect man, lover, and husband to me; he’s on a god level kind of man. Shingen is compassionate, knows boundaries and has never restricted MC from doing anything she loved (without good reason), he’s reliable and strong in a way that makes my heart melt. AND LET’S NOT FORGET HOW FUCKING BRILLIANT THIS MAN IS, HE IS SO FUCKING SMART AND I WISH CYBIRD LET US SEE HIS EXTREME INTELLIGENCE MUCH MORE,,,, He’s just so damn perfect it is near infuriating how good of a man he is. He fits my normal type so well; me saying “Tall, Handsome, Flirtatious, Sexy as Fuck and Infuriating” might of as well have been about Mr Takeda “I’ll marry you and give you everything for one smile” Shingen. I also really like characters that are loyal to their loved ones (yes in contrast to my bastard villain type kink, I also love those who show loyalty and devotion to the people they love) Shingen does more than enough of all of and I really do look up to him as a person and model for character,,,,, oh gods, and the way I imagine he would make sweet baby making love to ---*cough cough* ALRIGHT LETS STOP HERE BEFORE THIS BECOMES A WHOLE ASS SHINGEN APPRECIATION POST!!!

Sirius Oswald (Ikemen Revolution) - I’m really tempted to just insert a daddy kink meme and leave it at that,,,, He is my absolute top otome man, or rather,,, one of my top “I wish you were real and we were married” men. As much as I whore around and claim to love a new man the most (besides Lucien because they’re on the same level now) every week,,, I will always come back to Mr. Flower Daddy. He holds such a precious spot in my heart, I can only try to explain the things that he makes me feel. Like a giddy school girl in love for the first time, but in this story they end up together. High school sweetheart kind of love that lasts till they’re old and wrinkled with time. Gods, thinking about Sirius makes me sob and my wallet sob harder . I must have a thing for men who keep denying their affections for MC (aka me self insert) because of things like responsibility, friendship, being labelled an old geezer,,etc. I have played his route about eight times over (probably) by now, it’s a little upsetting that his route wasn’t as spicy as his side content. Please Cybird, let Mr. Flower Daddy be the sexy and dramatic man he can be. I love the way he cares for others, how hard he works to achieve the bonds and peace he has now for not only everyone he loves, but for the country they all live in as well. His many layers intrigue me, seeing his reactions as well ughhhh I love this man so fucking much, how do people irl deal with love like this? I’m sitting here dreaming over Sirius Oswald,,, and his,,, big hands,,, Never have I held such large and terrifyingly real emotions and lust for an otome character. The man just screams let daddy take care of you baby but also let daddy wreck your pretty whore mouth, little lady or maybe that’s just me projecting my kinks onto this pure (lol) man. Not only is his body, heart, and morals absolutely stunning, HE IS ANOTHER INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT BEING AND I CANNOT STRESSSSS HOW MUCH I FIND SMART PEOPLE INCREDIBLY SEXY AND THE WAY HE USES HIS TALENTS TO SUBTLY AID HIS LOVED ONES UGHHHHHH I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE. GODS PLEASE LET ME BREAK INTO THE SIXTH DIMENSION AND MARRY THIS MAN!!!!

Kent (Amnesia Memories) - OKAY LET ME JUST SAYYYY HE IS THE BIGGEST BABY AND BIGGEST MAN AT THE SAME TIME AND YOU CAN FIGHT ME ON THIS IDC BUT HIS OUTFIT IS THE SHIT!!! FUCK YOU BELT HATERS!!! His outfit and his love slaps like the wholesome man he is. Absolutely I would love to h*ld his h@nds and give him the best smooches I can give. Because that is what he deserves. I really loved this game, growing to love Kent was easy despite his big brain fucker throwing math questions at me from time to time. I’m not sure what makes me like Kent so damn much, but I do and that’s what matters skjdfdskjfh. He is so damn precious,,, you all know those “you so fucking precious when you smile” song video thingies? That is exactly how I feel about Kent. He’s so damn precious I want him to be happy always. And I will fight anyone who bullies him hnnn.

Myeong Hwi aka Theodore Wilson + Lee Gun Wook aka William Harris (Mystic Code) - Mystic Code used to be one of my favs, till they did the whole updating and redoing the story thing, with no full voiced lines etc (I really hope they bring that back). But two stood out to me the most was Captain Wilson and Lieutenant Harris. Both have very strong personalities and care for the greater good, and thick as fuck lets be real with that dom energy . I adore men with strong and noble (?? is this the right word??) personalities and also possess a compassionate heart. As Theo is with the MIU team members and Will is with MC.

Theodorus Van Gogh (Ikemen Vampire) - whoallowedthismantobethisfuckingattractiveandlegal?????? *insert his magic mike CG* I have played Theo’s route in JP a few times, once to completion but knowing him in the EN version I am already absolutely in love with this man. How this came to be? Maybe it’s his bittersweet personality, the way he cares for MC in the same way Sirius does, but he’s a bit more brash about it than Sirius. I absolutely adored his character growth in his route and as you get to know him better he opens up more and more, ahh the tsundere is quite the cute trait XD. He is strong willed and passionate, he is caring of his loved ones, he is loyal to his family, blood or found, and he is an absolutely attentive loving person. Why ask for more when you can just love Theodorus Van Gogh? He is the absolute softy packed into a large brooding and brash package with a shiny 8-pack abs that I wish to slather maple syrup on and lap up for the love of---- for someone who loves pancakes so much. And I very much admire his drive to do what he wants and needs to do to the absolute best of his ability. His will to thrive for the best he can get has me swooning. He truly is a breath taking man,,, whether that be because he is being a complete sweetheart all of the sudden or he’s whipping you some nasty insult that is itching for a rebut.

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE OH MY GOD It’s incredible, I love that version too!!! Ughhhhhh do you ever think about how many amazing covers of Hallelujah there are and how they are all spectacular in unique ways??? like how incredible is it that we can find so much nuance of emotion in this one song???? And depending on who is singing it and in what context (ie: KD Lang, a lesbian, singing it on stage in 2004 VS Kate McKinnon, also a lesbian, singing it on SNL after Election Week in 2016 VS Daniel Kahn, a Jewish man, singing it in Yiddish, vs Mennel Ibtissem, a Muslim woman, singing it in English and Arabic on France’s version of The Voice) it somehow has so much individual poignancy of feeling and is an absolutely unique experience even though it is THE SAME DAMN SONG???? UGH i just love it so much. I don’t know any other song that does what Hallelujah does.

Black Friday was a bust and we shouldn’t ignore it

So I’ve LOVED starkid for so many years and have fallen in love with their many create visions and ideas, so when I heard they were making a sequel I was skeptical.

The guy who didn’t like musicals was so incredibly good because ONE it held the classic starkid charm where they didn’t take themselves too seriously while also having such good subtlety in their story and writing that you feel for these characters. That scene between Paul and Emma where they’re stuck in Hidgen’s basement and talk about they’re lives and what they wanted and didn’t want from it is such a good example that it should be taught in school. And TWO they veered away from that usual wacky side of themselves (B@tman, HP, Trail to Oregon) and pushed for a little more serious tone (Twisted, Firebringer) and was successful in balancing both of these factors.

The point of a sequel is to further establish the world that the story takes place in and how the characters (and audience) could further learn from it. This means that they would have to tackle these things while also continuing the subtlety, tone and characters that starkid is known for. The reason their last sequel, A Very Potter Sequel, was so successful was because the world they were working off of was already fully constructed by JKR and they used that as a crutch to focus on the story and characters instead of trying to keep those things in while also explaining why all of these things are happening. So this is where they failed to reach expectation because they had SO much plot and reasoning to cram in for world building that they didn’t have time to develop much of their characters.

Like really what were these characters? I was totally down in the first twenty or so minutes when we finally got the year long answer! Like wholly shit its Paul and Emma! They’re alive and happy and we get to dive further deep into Emma and her sister’s past! This started off good because we were reminded of our love for these characters that got the perfect development in TGWDLM and was leading us down a path of learning more of them and the people they connect with, which lead us to Tom. His character is so interesting and I was expecting him to get that sweet sweet character development and backstory we usually get for main characters (especially characters played specifically by Dylan) and his first solo proved for that to be the case until we are ripped away from Emma and Paul all together and put into the introduction of the first stereotype and flat character. They have done some stereotypes in the past but at least they had some purpose to the plot but Lex’s boss or Mr. Krabs 2.0 is so heavy that its painful. So we lead into the scene were we really meet the Lex and her motivations and relationships. I liked her dynamic with her (very sweet, like holy shit get me one of him) boyfriend, or maybe I was too distracted by Robert’s pretty face to notice anything bad but OMG I almost forgot I was watching a starkid musical because their song starts with “MY MOM’S A BITCH” LIKE WHERES THE SUBTLETY IN THAT??? The song is one of many that falls flat but is saved by Roberts angelic voice and Kendall’s fun dancing.

Okay this is were it starts to become one note and stays there literally the rest of the musical, the scene in the line outside the toy store is boring and introduces stereotype number 2 with Loren’s power hunger rich lady and leads through another song which starts to weird trend of stopping the story DEAD in its tracks to establish something that wont be important in the end. Every song in TGWDLM either had a purpose and/or was a BOP (therefore it got a pass) but many of the music in this show didn’t do either of these. Anyway it moves on to the next song were I audibly cheered because I thought FINALLY a classic starkid song that people will sing at conventions for years to come with Dylan belting “ITS MINE, ITS MINE” and honestly it is one of the best from the musical and I loved how extra feral Jeff was the whole time.

Ethan was the one character I felt got the best character because he got the starkid special. They’ve always been masters at establishing personalities in the most basic of conversations in their shows and that probably why Mr. Krabs and rich lady irritated me so much because their writing felt lazy. Remember how the original MacNamara was so charming because he had that weird personality of loving romance despite being the classic military character? Anyway Ethan’s death was the most impactfull for me and that’s all I gotta say about it.

UGHHHHHH Okay so I’ve got to talk about this dumb ass villain. Joey is so fucking good at play villains it’s unbelievable but what heightens the impact of it is the reasoning and this guy’s reasoning gets so mixed up in the cramming of the plot that I can’t even remember.

THE WAIST. THE GIANT WAIST THAT IS THE WONDERFUL CURT MEGA

I get MacNamara’s point in the story but they completely erased the likable personality that I previously mentioned for the sake of plot which is irritating because I know they are capable to keeping a consistent character whose sole purpose is forwarding plot. He leads the final boring song of act 1 but sadly not the last one of the musical.

3 minutes of that fucking highschool santa song. I like the joke of a bad Christmas movie for teens but damn that dragged.

Tom’s story of trying to earn the love of his son while actually longing for forgiveness is such a good story and I do think they do it really well with the time that they give it but god nurse girl annoys me. JUST TO CLARIFY I LOVE HER VOICE IT GOES INCREDIBLY WELL WITH DYLAN'S. But Dylan going on a heartrenching speech of how he blames himself for the death of the love of his life and the mother of the son whom he thinks hates him to her going wOw rEmeMBer us In HigHscHoOl was so painful to watch. I did like their song despite the lack of chemistry until they started going at it after they expressed his PTSD and her murdering someone (who yes totally deserved it). Okay but the joke when they went back to the santa hightschool movie was the best joke of the show it was just too good.

The next time we see them they’re acting like the rest of the “infected” and like??? when did that shift happen??

God I feel so bad for Curt in that fucking suit. Okay but like is Joey wiggly or not? Is he just a follower and if he is why is he in the Black and White? But that use of the christmas ordiments and the hadestown lights was so cool and clever I really liked it.

I really liked that Friday is Black for Me song but now I can skip to the dumb part...

Super powers????? What????? How does MacNamara know Lex? When was that established and he not only know’s of Lex and her “powers” but also Hannah and her abilities as well which were never shown or hinted at other than Webby her imaginary friend which was also pointless.

He says there is a Warrior of Light trapped in a deep sleep? Then she imediently goes to Tom which means MacNamara also knew of Tom and implies that Tom has powers as well???

Finally after listening to more pretty Dylan singing we go to another tensionless cult scene which ended up being the climax surprising me because again it was all one note. The scene was just so boring that when nurse girl shot Loren I had to recap because I could not remember how she got away from the people who dragged her there. But like seriously the lack of tension was crazy, Lex LITERALLY had the last doll not only in her hands but next to fire that of which she was threatening everyone with and Loren just strait up pushes Tom away walks up to Lex and takes it from her. Yeah the joke was funny but logically why didn’t Lex light it up right after she got out of Tom’s grasp???

So yeah after the climax when Joey’s character who was set up as the main villain pulling all of the strings never showed up and left Loren’s flat character take the fall the falling action was everyone huddling together like a family even though the last time Hannah saw nurse girl and Tom they were actively hunting her with a needle to kill and sacrifice her to their god and I don’t think Lex had ever met nurse girl but its fine because they burned the mall down even though the rest of the country was already taken over by the dolls and they were forced into WWIII because??? The Russains?? Had a portal too??? And I get that the actors showing up in their original character’s clothes adds to the mystery that they’re trying to set up at the end but I don’t think its good to purposely add questions to a list that is already piling up pretty high.

Emma and Paul bickering at the beginning was the best part, then they are completely forgotten with Tom and nurse girl’s relationship, joey’s villain character, Ethan all together (like we didn’t even get a scene with Lex reacting to his death), and Hannah’s imaginary friend all for the sake of a cool visual at the end.

Again I adore starkid and their voices shine through but every show is iconic in its own way but the only memorable moments were the call backs to the original which I don’t think should count

These are my opinions and honestly I would like some feedback, I understand that people enjoyed it and I’m glad they did, I just need someone to explain to me why.
