Thoughts During Nimona
Why not, you know. I have seen a few things on this site, so I know the general themes of the movie, so I thought I’d go ahead and check it out.
Let’s do this.
Cool storybook intro.
I’ve seen it already but man this animation really is gorgeous.

That entire escape sequence was stellar.

I also knew this backstory was bogus. Lol Love it.

Wow, Ambrosius having a bit of an internal freak out.
“Says the miscreant whispering in his ear,” says the Director as she whispers in Ambrosius’s ear.
“You changed the way you see me.” I’m on the verge of tears.
“We have a monster in our kingdom.” Yeah, we’re looking at her.
I knew it was Nimona when they started flopping all over the place. Lol This dynamic is cute though man.

Something tells me that it’s possible that they’ll spin it that it was Nimona disguised as the Director.... We’ll see.

Now for actual backstory. The birds, the fish, the deer.... and the well.
The way she starts out as smaller animals just trying to swat and block the attacks coming at her before going to a horse or a bear because it’s the only way she might either defend or scare them off... and she’s still not even actually attacking them....

I haven’t mentioned it yet but the score is really good in this movie.
Yay! She’s alive! But.... man, I need so much more....
Wow, that was such a good movie. I had such a good time. Got emotional a couple times. I remember ND really tried to get this off the ground a couple years back so I’m glad they finally got the chance. So so good.

Admittedly, I’d love to see them give more opportunities for Ahsoka’s “Snips” to come out, but this Ahsoka hits me very much as older, calmer, wisened, and taking on more of Obi-Wan’s teachings than Anakin’

Definitely one of the unrealistic expectations I struggle with is the voice matching of the characters - like MEW looks AMAZING as Hera, but her voice isn’t an exact match and that’s something I need to get over because her performance is great
On that note, I think Rosario sounds like wisened Ahsoka from TCW S7

Nice tribute to when Hera would talk Kanan through his parenting challenges
Is this the first time we’re getting a live action hologram conversation?? That’s so cool!
Really love that it’s Sabine’s art mind that helps her solve the puzzle. Not the force. Not technology. Her eye as an artist.

Hello Pája my lovely friend! I didn’t pay attention to new releases last month as much as I have in the past, but I did listen to a handful.
I think my fave (other than NCT) was TXT’s comeback. The EP as whole was pretty great but my favorite song by far is Farewell, Neverland. I also really loved Crescendo from Monsta X’s album. Oooh also GOT the Beat’s mini album. It was super musically different and I found it very interesting but it’s definitely not for everyone. Honorable mentions to SF9’s comeback and Primrose’s debut!
Ohohoh! I almost forgot that Onewe released an English album! I haven’t listened to it yet but I’m sure it’s great because they’re a super talented band!

I like the underlying beat in Devil by the Window. Wow what is that ending eheh, I didn't expect that. And now for something completely dfferent with Sugar Rush Ride ahah. Oh that little Billie Eilish moment. Happy Fools where have I heard that intro before UGH. Wow that beat is so familiar. I like the lady singing. Tinnitus, I feel like I've heard it already ahah. Maybe it's TXT's signiture sound. (hold on let me check, I def have other TXT songs in my playlists....huh, nevermind then :D ). Neverland definitely the best track of the album for me. I feel like I would like it even more if their voices would sound, like, a little bit less accentuated? That's not the word.... I feel like some parts are kinda strained, I don't know how to put it lol.

Do we even need to talk about Beautiful Liar, I am so in love witih that song. Daydream has such an interesting sound. Like a depressed circus. What is Crescendooooo, it's a bit of everything oh my gosh. Wait did they say let's get sexy ifusskjdf. The way it ended so abruptlly. Lone Ranger sounding kind of basic so far. Feels like a filler song. Deny a vocalist song I see I see. Okay no we still got the rap as well but IT FITS THE SONG, vocals and rap can COEXIST in balance in one song, NCT please try harder. Oh I like It's alright. The piano <3 Hhhh I like it! It's like relaxed. Sigh, should I listen to more of MonstaX? Maybe I should pay more attention to them.
💃💃 GOT the beat's STAMP ON IT:
I actually dread this one, I've heard the two title tracks (?) they performed during SM's concert and my ears bled :// (Also I thought they're called Girls on Top and not GOT the beat eheh.) But! I'll give it a try. Here goes. Sigh. It's like... we have all these beautiful extremely capable voices and we make them shout all at once. Also why does everything have to sound like NCT. Wait why does Alter Ego have a bit from 2 Baddies???? Mark's iconic line. (Like not the lyrics I guess but the delivery is exactly the same??) I don't know I guess I'm kinda tired of the "bad bitches, touch me and die, loser" concept. If I had to pick one song that didn't make think about skipping it within first seconds, it'd be MALA cause we can hear some actual vocals in it and also I kinda like the tone shift in the chorus.

I honestly like the big conversation in episode one. Really sets things up for what’s to come and the cutaways are good.

hey guys! it’s the day after my first post and i was actually planning on posting something about what i’ve been doing to keep in shape during quarantine but decided against it. maybe i’ll post that some other time.
today i thought why not make a post about the songs that are currently my top 6 in my ‘on repeat’ playlist on spotify and tell you why i think they’re good. there might be some guilty pleasures on there so pls don’t judge if i include living on a prayer on here or some shit like that.
1. RNP - YBN Cordae (feat. Anderson .Paak)
wow! what a good song. i actually discovered this song on tik tok (don’t come at me for that) and i had it stuck in my head for a couple of days and i was looking for it all over tik tok trying to find the name, until i realized i had actually saved the sound. this song makes me feel like a bad bitch and always gets me dancing. great beat 10/10 recommend if you like feeling like a bad bItCh.
2. When You Were Made - The Growlers
also a fucking bop. the intro with the guitar just ahhHHHH gets me every time. i actually tried learning it on guitar but failed because i’m not that good oops. brooks nielsen’s voice is just like the perfect scratchiest voice ever!! i can’t get enough. overall i love the growlers and def recommend them if you like surf/psychadelic rock. basically if you like mac demarco you will love the growlers.
3. Rocket Man - Elton John
recently i’ve been feeling elton john a LOT. this song is just TOO good. ROCKET MAAANNNNN! ugh. it makes me feel so free. overall elton john is such a fucking legend but this song really hits different. especially on a train during the sunset overlooking the english countryside. definitely recommend doing that. 10000/10 i love this song.
3. BEST INTEREST - Tyler, The Creator
ugh. another bop by tyler. i am a huuuuugeee tyler fan and whenever i first heard this song i was like: yes. another bop. i love the lil ‘dollar dollar dollar’ at the beginning. just love the beat and rhythm of the song overall. it’s just something you can really jam to. and then the buildup to when tyler says ‘i was out here playing games.’ too good. 10/10 song
4. BOY BYE - BROCKHAMPTON
another bop that makes me feel like a baddie. also a huge fan of brockhampton, and this song just gets me to my feet. makes me want to dance!!! kinda wanna come up with some choreo to this actually. very good.
5. Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
so friggin good. the guitar in this is just so wooOOOh. this song makes me feel like i’m in a coming of age movie where i’m in a band and i’m listening to this on vinyl in my room at max volume and i’m loving life. i love it when alex goes ‘oh the boys a slag, the best you’ve ever had.’ makes me wanna scream it.
6. Workin Out - JID
i’m pretty sure i discovered this song on some spotify playlist that was made for me or some shit. i instantly fell in LOVE. this song is so vibey. at first i was like wtf this is a JID song??? i initially thought this because this girl i don’t like from my school went to his concert and i saw the concert vids (obv) and this song was so different from what i’d seen in the vid. also i really don’t like this girl so that might’ve been a reason too. anyway. such a good song. the piano is just mUAH! so good.
