DAY 31 OF 31 MINUTOBER
Prompt was gala and I just went with a Halloween themed one bc I wanted to draw them in costumes badly
(Bongo's costume isn't obvious but it's rod sterling of the twillight zone)
This challenge was a lot of fun, very surprised I did it all
Btw Juanín and Bodoque are (unintentionally) matching solely bc of this

Screw it, brief reviews of Jason Bateman's filmography pre-Arrested Development
(there are only 4 pics but the post is long)
1981 Little House on the prairie - He was there for 1 season and already became so popular they made the grand finale all about him being a proof that God exists lol
Tumblr media
1983 Just a little more love - can't find this one
1982 Silver spoons - they had to fire him because the second he appeared on screen nobody gave a crap about the other kid, iconic, I've only had Derek Taylor for 21 episodes but if anything happened to him yk yk..
Tumblr media
1984 Knight Rider - Derek Taylor steals a car
1985 Robert Kennedy and his Times - I'm sure he's in it somewhere but it's like SIX hours long and incredibly boring
1984 The Fantastic World of DC Cooper - Derek Taylor strikes again
1984 It's your Move - Arrested Development for 6th graders, this show is SO fucking funny the parents insisted on killing it together with his Derek-sona for good.
Tumblr media
1985 Right to kill - blink and you'll miss him, this is his sister's movie
1986 Mr Belvedere - MILF CHASER
1986 Can you feel me dancing - a commissioned tv movie to show off Justine Bateman's range
1986 St Elsewhere - see, Dave Hogan can do drama too (no)
1986 Valerie/ The Hogan family - his most famous role pre-AD and I genuinely don't understand why, stale bread even for a family sitcom™. Cancelled for being the only show that was normal about aids thanks to Jason. They also dyed his hair to a different shade of auburn each season for some reason lol
1987 Bates Motel - this was supposed to be a sequel to Psycho 🤨
1987 Teen Wold too - words cannot describe how much I hate this movie and everything about it
1987 Matlock - he's playing "Jason Bateman, the star of Valerie" only 1 year after they fired Valerie from Valerie hmm...
1987 Moving target - this was fine
1988 Our House - if your kids think giving 10k to a teenager will get them a record label at 13 it's on them, he did nothing wrong
1988 Crossing the mob - you can watch this but god at what cost, it's so grainy you can barely see their faces (okay movie tho)
Tumblr media
1989 Breaking the rules - commissioned to show that he can do some "serious" acting, a tragic mistake on everyone's part
1991 Necessary roughness - Scott Bakula simps, I understand, no I seriously get it
1992 A Taste for killing - for every good movie (prev) you get 2 bad ones
1994 Confessions: two faces of evil - COPAGANDA
1994 This can't be love - *looks up synonyms for CUTE*
1994 Black sheep - can't find this one either
1995 Hart to Hart - he was so annoying they made him believe he's related to Donald Trump I can't even rgsthsrth
1995 An affectionate look at fatherhood - can't find this one either²
1995 Burke's law - this show is so camp you need to WATCH THE DUEL
1995 Simon - the writing is atrocious, he's trying SO hard to make it work while Harland Williams recites every line as if he had just learnt to read. Tragically, a must watch, I wish it existed in HD
Tumblr media
1996 Ned and Stacey - a sitcom star playing a sitcom star in a sitcom making fun of Friends, 10/10
1997 Chicago sons - 3 polish brothers live together, Jared Paladecki isn't in this eventhough there are at least 4 people that look like him
1998 George and Leo - if this came out today AO3 would be full of this elderly gay couple
1999 Love stinks - not mine but yk
Tumblr media
2000 Rude awakening - the absence of a laugh track caught me off guard, he's doing his best Bud Bundy impression down to the tragic goatee
2001 Some of my best friends - after this many cancelled sitcoms you stop seeing AD as a show that's simply good but as a miracle
2002 The Jake effect - if Scrubs was about hs teachers
2002 The sweetest thing - nobody cares about the men this is the penis song movie
2002 No way out - this is like Cary Elwes-kind of bad
2003 Sol Goode - blink and you'll miss him (idk what's even happening)
2003 Twillight Zone -someone get him an Emmy for trying to bribe a ghost of a kid he unintentionally murdered

I'M BACK. Life swept me away but I'm slowly listening to the eps I'm missing. Just finished the BorRap ep and I have some thoughts. First of all, I think that movie is terrible. It's bad. I saw it in theatre with my friends and I walked away thinking, eh-whatever. But I have to give the movie some merits because it did pull me in starting from the second act and I was very hyped when the First Aid scene came on. However, it's definitely super mid, verging toward terrible. So, secondly, imagine my fucking surprise when it was nominated for Best Picture. I was like, haha this is a prank, only to check the official website and see it there. HOLY shit, my jaw hit the floor. Did the US run out of movies that year for Best Picture???? Like, was there really no other movies that can take BorRaph's spot????? I had a moment just staring at the screen of my laptop and felt like I was in the Twillight Zone. (I can see Rami being nominated for Best Lead Actor tho, he was really good so I understand the nomination)
Thirdly, I caught wind of the BorRap fandom. I was taking a break from tumblr then, but it was kinda growing on twitter, that even tho I was in a very very different fandom space, I heard about it. Now hearing what I'm hearing from the podcast, quite eye-opening lmao. Like, when you discussed the fanfics... I was screaming in my head hahahahaha
Fourth, I have seen the 911 BoB/TP fic... and just not gonna click on it. Life's too short and all that.
it's especially egregious given the fact that that year was so stacked with movies that were Literally eons better than Bohemian Rhapsody. i was Literally just yelling about how that was supposed to be the year of BlacKkKlansman and instead it got double teamed by both Greenbook and BoRhap and it's truly the most disappointing shit in the world. like we can make the case rami Was the best performance in the category at the oscars but idek if I believe that anymore, given the fact that Vice was a movie i detested and Bale was still acting circles around Rami like staring wide-eyed at shit for two hours straight. not to Mention Bradley Cooper, who campaigned way too hard for Best Director when had he focused harder on trying to get Best Actor he would have been a shoo-in, and A Star is Born is Regrettably a movie that gets better every year in a way that BoRhap decidedly does not.
the globes are a joke at the best of times so the wins that night were pretty alright, but that Best Picture win and then subsequent oscar nom are just.....that chaps my ass my dudes. whole ass movie could have been written on a cocktail napkin like Showgirls (which is actually Way more fun to watch than BoRhap) 😘💃
and in regards to That 9/11 fic.....stay tuned lol

Chaotic Yet Serene
Hawk glanced at Sabrielle, then at the child, Darin. Compared to others he had met, these people were... Strange. He was pretty sure that most people didn't allow their children to have guns or knives before they were fifteen.
Sarin was bored with this conversation, he was out of school, he wasn't going to just sit here and listen to MORE BORING ADULT TALK. BLEH. He looked at Xavier who floated aboulve his shoulder. Xavier didn't like showing himself more than just the slightest shadow. But since Sarin shared a SOUL with him, they had to deal with each other. Which was helpful, since Sarin liked running into the street, and was a rather squishy human, according to Void.
Xavier tilted his head at Sarin, his ȟ̸̨̯̲̝̳͓͎̭͖͊̄̔̽̓̂̋̇̋̀̕̚͜o̶̯͎̱͐̇͋̅̃̈́͋̽̊̀̓͊̃́͋̓️ş̵̛̳̍̃̏͆̏̂̎͌͘͝͝͝͝t̵̏͛̃̍́̈̚͜͝ soul partner. He could sense the malice and mischief that Sarin was beginning to crave to cause. Xavier nodded and passed him a small kitchen knife.
Sabrielle had been bantering pleasantly with Void and Hawk, when she felt something poke the back of her left calf. She looked behind her to see Sarin, prodding her with a knife, his grin devilish. "OHHH NO YOU-" She was cut off by Sarin poking her again, and this time the blade entered her flesh. It didn't hurt much, but she was still st artled. "𝐎𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐧." She growled. Sarin giggled and took off. Sabrielle ran up to him and grabbed him by his left ankle. "𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐢𝐭." She growled. Sarin shook his head no, sticking out his tongue.
____too lazy to continue he, so this is half of the next print
Hawk belongs to @wr-n Sabrielle belongs to yours truly. Void and Sarin belong to Ayla Twillight Zone/Azzy

67, 68, and 117 maybe?
Hey Lake! Absolutely 😊
From this ask list.
67: Favorite meme: I really like classics/art history memes kinda like this:
Tumblr media
68: What is your MBTI personality type? INTP or INFP (I feel like I get a different one every time I take it lol)
117: What color do you wish the sky was? The red-violet color of twillight, speckled with stars and bright fluffy clouds. An eternal, dark sunset like in the terminator zone of a planet like Trappist-1e (sorry I'm also a space nerd lol 😂).

Not entirely hopeless if we remember the twilight zone
(I THINK referencing this post)
Hmm. I've never seen twillight zone (sacrilege, I know), but I'll assume there was a payoff eventually. If that's the case, I suppose. And listen, if a few years from now it all circles back to E9 having a point and being clever, then yeah, I'll admit it and laugh about it. But currently, it's just... a platform for all these other projects, and BARELY about Jen. It makes me sad because her character is genuinely interesting.

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix Recap: Twilight Town (Sora Awakens)
The Ghost Train pulls into the station,
A hooded King Mickey disembarks.
We cut to a dark void, where we see Roxas walk to the center of the screen.
He turns to face the camera and says Sora’s name.
Fade to white.
Donald and Goofy call out to Sora, telling him to wake up.
Sora wakes up inside the pod, Donald and Goofy watching as it reopens. Sora’s theme plays for the very first time, in the third game in the series.
Our hero yawns and stretches, notices his friends, and excitedly greets them.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy reunite, join hands, laugh, and dance in a circle.
“That was some nap!” Jiminy remarks as he stumbles out of Sora’s hood and onto his shoulder.
“You mean, we were asleep?” Sora questions as Jiminy hops off his shoulder and onto the floor.
“I guess we musta been, or I don’t think we’d be so drowsy…” Jiminy answers.
Goofy asks when he thinks they went to sleep, and Donald can’t think of anything.
Sora decides to go over what they remember:
They defeated Ansem.
Restored peace to the world.
Found Kairi.
Left to look for Riku.
As none of that explains when they would’ve gone to sleep, they decide to consult Jiminy’s Journal.
Unfortunately, the only thing it says is “Thank Naminé”.
Donald is not impressed with Jiminy’s chronicling abilities, and the Cricket awkwardly encourages the trio to try and figure out where they are.
That was Jiminy’s only cutscene appearance in this game, so I hope you enjoyed it!
ROXAS HAS NOW BECOME SORA!
Sora inherits all of Roxas’ abilities, items, equipment, armor, and experience. All that’s really changed from a gameplay perspective is what your player character looks like.
You can also now access Jiminy’s Journal, which includes a new character chart that allows you to jump to the newest entry for a character, and see who all they’re aligned with. Older entries can be accessed through the character list. The story updates in real time, with new paragraphs being added whenever you progress through a world’s story.
It also keeps track of the treasure chests available to you, and which ones you haven’t collected yet.
Jiminy’s Journal only tracks data relevant to Sora’s Story, so you won’t have access to any information regarding Roxas’ Summer Vacation. So don’t worry about the Journal constantly reminding you of chests that you can no longer access, as the chests in the Simulated Twilight Town are the only permanently missable ones.
In addition, Twillight Town’s field and battle themes have permanently changed: “Lazy Afternoons” has been replaced with “The Afternoon Streets”, and “Sinister Sundown” has been replaced with “Working Together”.
DONALD DUCK HAS JOINED THE PARTY!
Donald has access to two Action Abilities right now, Donald Thunder and Donald Cure.
Donald Cure consumes all of Donald’s MP, and provides an AOE heal around Donald.
Also, he only has access to his starting weapon, the Mage’s staff.
GOOFY HAS JOINED THE PARTY!
Goofy’s only Action Ability at the moment is Goofy Bash, wherein he throws his shield at the enemy.
He is also stuck with his starting weapon, the Knight’s shield.
The cutscene deposits Sora just outside of the mansion, and he can talk to Donald and Goofy as NPC’s.
This happens at select Save Rooms throughout the game.
When Sora crosses the threshold of the loading zone for the forest, the game immediately transports you to the entrance to the Usual Spot, as if Sora had walked there on autopilot.
He just can’t shake the feeling that he’s been to this town before, but he has no idea what the name is.
Regardless, Hayner, Pence, and Olette have a realistic reaction to someone they don’t know just randomly showing up in their Usual Spot.
Hayner strongly implies that he’d very much like it if our heroes went somewhere else.
Pence, however, realizes that they’re new around here and introduces himself.
Hayner does so as well, having cooled off, but notes that the three of them have things to do and so heads off into town.
Olette introduces herself and asks if Sora’s finished up the Summer Homework yet.
Sora’s confused by the concept of homework, as are Donald and Goofy, apparently.
(Interesting implications for their worlds of origin.)
“Hey, what are you’re names?” Pence asks.
“Oh sorry,” Goofy corrects, “We’re Sora, Donald, and Goofy.” (In that order.)
Olette then reveals that they just met someone who’s looking for them.
Pence notes that the guy asking for them had a black coat on, so they couldn’t see his face.
He could see his “big, round ears” however.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy take a moment to figure out who matches that description.
“The King!” Donald realizes.
Sora asks where they saw him, and Pence answers that he was at the station.
Pence and Olette head off to complete their assignment, while Sora, Donald, and Goofy head off to the station, believing that their journey is finally nearing its end.
In the Tram Commons, there are four shops.
Wantz’s Item Shop sells Potions and Tents.
Biggs’ Armor Shop sells Elven Bandanas.
Jessie’s Accessory Shop sells Ability Rings.
Wallace’s Weapon Shop sells a Hammer Staff for Donald and an Adamant Shield for Goofy, but you’re unlikely to be able to afford either one until later.
A Moogle named Elmina has taken over the shop the old woman was operating in the Simulated Twilight Town, implying that the real world version of the old woman has in fact retired. However, you can only use this shop for Item Synthesis, and I don’t know if it’s physically possible to have Synthesis Materials at this point in the game.
The next story event begins when you reach the Station Plaza.
They don’t see the King anywhere, but they are immediately ambushed by Dusks.
The Dusks in this battle will endlessly respawn, and the battle will only end when you meet one of the following end conditions:
You land 100 hits on the Dusks.
Your HP drops below 30% of the maximum.
90 seconds pass.
After any one of the above occurs, Sora, Donald, and Goofy will fall back from exhaustion as the Dusks move in for the kill.
Suddenly, King Mickey descends from above, and wipes out the Dusks with as much ease as he vanquished the Darksides back in KH1’s ending.
Donald and Goofy bowl over Sora to try and get a better look.
“Your Majesty?” Donald questions.
King Mickey shushes them.
“You gotta board the train and leave town!” he explains, “The train knows the way.”
He then gives Sora a Munny Pouch that holds 5000 Munny and a Crystal Orb, before running off without so much as a goodbye.
Donald and Goofy are thrilled that their friend the King is okay, and Sora remembers something: The King was locked in the Realm of Darkness with Riku.
So naturally, if the King is here, that must mean that Riku’s here as well!
Sora decides to go look for Riku, so the two of them can go back home together, where Kairi is no doubt still waiting for them. As for Donald’s and Goofy’s plans?
Well… They don’t really have any plans. Downside to living in a utopian society, I guess.
Sora laughs at their indignant/confused faces, and Donald and Goofy get a good laugh at their own expense after giving each other a good look.
Sora suggests that they stick together for one more journey, but has already forgotten where they were supposed to go.
“We’ve gotta board the train!” Goofy reminds him.
The three of them head into the station, and a little something got added to Jiminy’s Journal.
Secret Ansem’s Report 2
I have made a grave mistake. My study of the "darkness of the heart" began with a simple psychological test and quickly snowballed.
Spurred on by my youngest apprentice, Ienzo, I constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of my castle.
Unbeknownst to me, my six apprentices then began collecting a large number of subjects on which to perform dangerous experiments into the "darkness of the heart."
As soon as I found out, I called my apprentices together and ordered them not only to cease their studies, but to destroy the results of their research thus far.
What on earth was happening within the hearts of my six beloved apprentices? While pursuing the mystery of the darkness of the heart, could they themselves have strayed into its depths?
Yet I remain the most foolish of all, for having begun these experiments.
We are not meant to interfere in the depths of another's heart, no matter what our reasons for doing so...
And my error plunged me into despair.
A visitor from another world soothed my dejected soul.
A tiny king named Mickey came wielding a legendary key — the infamous "Keyblade," said to bring both chaos and prosperity to the world.
He was very knowledgeable on many topics, and we deepened our friendship as we conversed companionably.
Upon his advice, I decided to review the data obtained at my basement lab.
That is when I discovered the "Ansem's Reports."
Though they bore my name, the only one I had written was number 1.
Apparently he had gone on to pen numbers 2 through 9 himself.
Yes — the first subject in my foolish experiments.
Note: Unlike with the first game, the report collection is nondiagetic.
Hayner, Pence and Olette show up to see Sora off, since it just felt like something they should do.
Olette tells them to hurry and get their tickets.
You can now explore the train station and pick up the treasure chests within, as the story won’t progress until you tell either Donald or Goofy (can’t remember who) that you’re ready to go.
When Sora tries to use the Munny in the pouch to pay for his ticket, Olette gasps, and shows the trio her own matching Munny Pouch, prompting some brief confusion.
Sora shakes it off and pays for the tickets with what is technically counterfeit Munny when you consider the origin of it, before turning his attention to the Ghost Train.
“I can’t help feeling like we won’t see this town again…” he admits.
Donald’s not sure why he’d think that, and Goofy assures him his probably overthinking things.
When Sora tries to bid farewell to the Twilight Town Trio, Hayner asks if he’s sure they haven’t met before.
“Positive,” Sora answers, “Why do you ask?”
“I dunno!” Hayner replies with a grin.
Sora smiles, but a tear rolls down his cheek, much to his own confusion.
Olette asks if he’s okay, and Sora assures her that he’s fine, though he is understandably confused as to why he’s crying.
Sora bids them farewell and boards the train.
The Ghost Train pulls out of the station and chugs on down the tracks to its destination.
During the ride, Sora contemplates the Munny Pouch, and takes out the Crystal Orb.
“You know…” Sora says as he holds the Crystal Orb up to the sun the way Roxas once did, before holding it closer to his chest, “I’m sad.”
“We’ll be back,” Donald assures him.
“Yeah,” Goofy chimes in, “We can visit Hayner and those guys again!”
That does seem to lift Sora’s spirits, but then a flash of light wipes away the Twilight Town skyline, revealing an aurora borealis.
The Ghost Train rides spectral tracks above a starry sky to its next destination.
Back at Sunset Hill in Twilight Town, Axel, Naminé, and the man claiming to be Ansem are having a little chat.
“Guess that’s that,” Axel notes.
“Let’s go,” “Ansem” insists.
“Go where?” Axel asks, “It’s not like we have homes to return to. We don’t exist, remember?”
“Yes it’s true. We may not have homes…” Naminé chimes in as she contemplates one of her sketches, “But there IS someplace I want to go. And… someone I want to see.”
The sketch depicts Roxas and Sora holding hands.
“Same here,” Axel admits, “So, you think you might let us go? I know you’re here to get rid of us, but…”
“DiZ? Wants to get rid of me?” Naminé questions “Ansem” in shock as she holds her sketchpad to her chest.
“Go,” “Ansem” says.
“You sure about this?” Axel questions.
“I owe you both,” “Ansem” answers.
“For what?” Naminé asks.
“Castle Oblivion,” “Ansem” answers, “You helped us.”
“Heh. You don’t have to tell me twice,” Axel replies as he opens a dark portal.
Naminé looks back and forth between Axel and “Ansem”, before thanking the latter and leaving with Axel.
The Ghost Train emerges from a portal of light and arrives at a floating island with leafy foliage and a twisting spire at its center.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy disembark from the train, which dissolves into light behind them.
“There goes our ride,” Sora nervously chuckles as Donald and Goofy go ahead, and there’s a strange figure at the door.
Welcome to the Mysterious Tower.
This will become its own world in later games, but for now, it’s considered a part of Twilight Town, even if it has its own Field Theme.
There are more chests to open here, and you are unable to return to Twilight Town proper for the time being, and the story will advance once you approach the door.
“What’s going on?” Donald questions.
The figure at the door chuckles and explains that he sent his lackeys in to test the strength of this tower’s owner. Apparently, he’s a powerful sorcerer, and the figure wants to make him his bodyguard.
“See, it don’t matter how tough he is-” the figure explains, “Once he’s a Heartless, he’ll do as I say!”
“A Heartless!” Donald exclaims as Sora, himself, and Goofy fall into fighting stances.
“That’s right,” the figure says, “They’re those things that come outta the darkness in folks’ hearts.”
The figure then claims that, with all the Heartless at her side, taking over the world will by child’s play for Maleficent.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy immediately calm down, realizing that whoever they’re dealing with is working with hilariously out of date information.
“And since I got me a debt to pay,” the figure continues, “I’m going around the worlds and buildin’ an army of Heartless, special for her.”
The figure then wonders what he’s talking to a bunch of pipsqueaks for anyway, and tells them to scram, since he’s KINDA behind schedule.
“You oughta find somethin’ nicer to do,” Goofy insists.
“Says who?” the figure asks as he turns around and reveals himself to be Pete (Alice and the Puzzle).
He then expresses shock and anger in equal parts upon seeing Donald and Goofy, who are equally surprised to see Pete.
“What are you two nimrods doin’ here!?” Pete asks.
Sora asks if Donald and Goofy know him, and Goofy explains that Pete’s been causing trouble for ages, so much so that he was banished to another dimension ages ago.
“I wonder how he escaped,” Goofy ponders.
Pete then reveals that Maleficent busted him out, and claims that he’s going to conquer all of the worlds with Maleficent’s help.
This prompts laughter from Sora, Donald, and Goofy, who casually reveal that Maleficent’s been dead for ages, much to Pete’s frustration.
“You! So you were the ones that did it!” Pete exclaims.
“Well…” Sora folds his hands behind his head, “we might’ve had something to do with it.”
Pete growls and shakes with rage.
“Heartless squad! Round up!”
Shadows and Soldiers emerge from the darkness, much to Sora’s, Donald’s and Goofy’s surprise.
Because this is technically still Twilight Town, the Battle Theme is still “Working Together”.
Unlike KH1, you can actually open Treasure Chests during battles now, so I recommend doing that.
Shadows are basically identical to how they were in KH1, but now you can use a special Reaction Command: Cyclone, against the Soldiers when they deliver a glowing kick.
After the last Heartless is defeated, Pete declares that nobody (and he means nobody) messes with the mighty Pete.
Sora asks who lives in the tower anyway, and Pete reveals that the owner is Yen Sid (Fantasia).
“‘Course he’s probably a Heartless by now!” he claims.
“Master Yen Sid lives here!?” Donald exclaims, before dashing into the tower.
“Yen Sid is the King’s teacher,” Goofy explains.
“Wow, sounds powerful!” Sora expresses, and the two follow Donald, leaving Pete to stew in his anger.
There’s a Save Point inside the Tower, so I suggest saving before you continue.
You can’t go back outside for the time being.
There’s a set of stairs nearby that leads to another set of stairs, which has more Heartless for you to fight.
Whenever you enter a room, you have to fight waves of Heartless to progress, and there are three rooms, separated by stairways, for you to traverse.
“Heartless, Heartless, Heartless!” Donald vents once the last room has been cleared, “Things haven’t changed one bit!”
“Well, it’s a good thing we’re on the job, then,” Goofy notes.
“So, the worlds aren’t at peace after all?” Sora questions.
After one more set of stairs, our heroes arrive in Master Yen Sid’s study.
Donald and Goofy respectfully bow to the wise sorcerer, while Sora gives a casual greeting, much to Donald’s annoyance.
Yen Sid calms them down and, for the first time in official Disney media (without being referred to as Merlin) speaks.
“So, you are Sora,” Yen Sid remarks, “Now then, have you seen the King yet?”
“Yes we did, Master,” Goofy answers, “But we didn’t get a chance to talk to him.”
“Yes… the King has been quite busy of late,” Yen Sid observes, “Therefore, it would appear that the task of instructing you three falls upon my shoulders. You have a perilous journey ahead of you. You must be well prepared.”
Sora asks if they have to go on another quest, since he was looking forward to going back to the islands.
Yen Sid is aware, but tells Sora that everything in his journey is connected.
“Whether you will find your way home to the islands…
“Whether you will return alone or with your friend…
“And, whether or not the islands will still be there,” Yen Sid lists off, “And the Key that connects them all is you, Sora.”
Sora summons his Keyblade, and Yen Sid reinforces that he is the one who will open the Door to Light.
With a wave of his hand, Yen Sid materializes a book for Sora to read that has knowledge he’ll need for his journey.
He’ll explain what Sora’s up against after he reads it.
You can now save your game at the Save Point behind Yen Sid.
The book reads as follows:
The Beginning
Each journey gives rise to chance encounters, and each encounter brings forth a farewell.
When a farewell leads to a journey the worlds open their hearts.
There are those chosen by light and those ensnared by darkness. Friends who share the same bonds, though their paths may differ.
When you doubt the path trod thus far, when the hand you held is lost to you, gaze anew at the heart that once was…
For all the answers are within.
Interlude
A long dream.
A sad farewell, hanging in the air in that “world between.”
What is reality? What is illusion? The path chosen by the young boy leads to his memories.
When caught in the stream of the days and nights going past, gaze anew at your steps…
For there all confusion will end.
The Future Story
Will the day come when this battle, born of confusion, will end?
It is different things to different people.
Can the reality be that which is hidden?
The reason is mere existence. Still, memories can be believed.
Be not afraid. Entrust your body to the soothing waves of your memories. By and by, your fleeting rest will be over…
And everything will begin.
After reading the book, Sora asks how the Heartless are still around.
Yen Sid explains that, while he put an end to a mass invasion of Heartless, the Heartless will continue to be a threat as long as darkness exists in people’s heart.
Goofy surmises that filling everyone’s hearts with light would put an end to the Heartless threat, but given how artificially messing with hearts tends to go in this series, I imagine that would just create an entirely new problem in the process.
“Now, it is time to speak of the enemies that you will encounter,” Yen Sid explains, before magicking up a hologram of Donald.
He uses the hologram to explain that when someone, such as Donald, loses their heart to the darkness, they produce a Heartless, demonstrating by transforming the Donald hologram into a Shadow hologram.
However, if they have a strong enough heart and will, be they good or evil, an empty shell made of their body and soul will be left behind and act with a will of its own. This is a Nobody.
The soul persists, even as their bodies fade from existence, because Nobodies don’t truly exist at all. (In other words, the super flexible Dusks, Creepers, Assassins, and the Twilight Thorn are likely to be about 90% Soul and 10% Body, which explains so much about how weird they are.)
While they may seem to have feelings, this is a ruse. They only pretend to have feelings because they don’t have hearts to feel with.
Dusks are the most common type of Nobody in the universe, as most people produce these when becoming Heartless.
But, as you’d know from Roxas’ Story, they come in plenty of other forms as well, each one with their own unique abilities.
Regardless, they’re just empty shells, destined to return to darkness. Even if they are individually stronger than the average Heartless, they’re not exactly an existential threat on account of not being able to extract hearts themselves.
However, a handful of Nobodies have managed to hold onto their former selves’ appearance, clinging to their original selves’ memories.
Yen Sid conjures holographic projections of three of these Nobodies, the Unknown, II, and VII.
These powerful Nobodies have formed a group called Organization XIII, and they command the lesser Nobodies.
And unlike the Heartless, who function purely on instinct, the Nobodies can think and plan, and they’re working towards a goal of some sort.
“What that goal is, we do not know,” Yen Sid explains, “The King sensed the danger, and journeyed forth to fight it! He found the Dark Realm’s Keyblade, and with it closed the door! Now he’s travelling from World to World, fighting the Heartless as he seeks the answer to the riddle of the Nobodies and Organization XIII.”
Sora resolves to locate the King, and by extension Riku, so they’ll have an easier time fighting Organization XIII (while recapping the ending of the first game again), but Yen Sid points out that Sora’s going to need more appropriate clothes first, given that he’s outgrown his outfit from the previous games.
The Three Good Fairies are in the other room to help him with that.
Which Three Good Fairies?
Why, Flora (Sleeping Beauty), Fauna (Sleeping Beauty), and Merryweather (Sleeping Beauty) of course!
The Three Good Fairies almost immediately start fighting over what color to make Sora’s clothes (zapping his outfit into green, reddish pink, and blue), as Maleficent’s Raven (Sleeping Beauty) observes from the open window. The familiar flies away.
Sora finally loses his patience and asks if they’ll just decide, and all three of them combine their powers to create a mostly black outfit, with white outlines, yellow belts, and red pouches, plus a red undershirt.
These clothes also have special properties, as can be seen when Sora takes a yellow, swirling orb (A Drive Orb) the fairies magic up for him.
SORA HAS LEARNED VALOR FORM!
Valor Form is a Drive Form, the other special Gimmick of this Game.
Valor Form removes Goofy from the party and turns his clothes red, disabling Sora’s Magic, but increasing his physical strength and allowing him to wield two Keyblades at once.
The Keyblade equipped to it by default is Star Seeker. It’s ability is Air Combo Plus, which works really well with Valor Form’s Growth Ability.
Speaking of, it’s Growth Ability is Hi-Jump. Sora can now Jump Higher when the Jump button is held down.
Valor Form games experience every time you land a hit on an enemy.
When you level up Valor Form, Hi Jump increases to the next level, and Sora gains access to the weaker version of the ability. So if Valor Form is Level 2, Sora will have access to Level 1 Hi Jump. Level 3, then level 1 Hi Jump will become Level 2 Hi Jump.
As Valor Form is powered by Sora’s bond with Goofy, Goofy has to be in the active party in order to activate it.
You also need to have at least 3 Drive Gauges.
(Your Drive Gauge appears above your MP gauge and is gradually filled up as you collect Drive Orbs. Whenever you collect a Drive Orb when the Drive Gauge is full, the number attached to it will go up by 1.)
Note: you will not be able to dequip Star Seeker from Valor Form until you obtain a third Keyblade.
Sora’s outfit has other powers, but he’ll have to discover them on his own over the course of his journey.
The mirrors in this room tease what’s to come.
One presents Sora utilizing his full strength, corresponding to Valor Form.
Another puts the image of Sora utilizing his magic to its fullest potential into his mind.
Another puts the image of Sora using his old power in his mind.
Another puts the image of him possessing all abilities is put into his mind.
Another gives him the image of the Keyblade unleashing its ultimate power.
The last grants the image of Sora overcome by the Power of darkness into his mind.
This last mirror corresponds to Antiform.
Antiform consumes all of your Drive Gauges and removes both of your party members. Sora cannot heal or pick up HP Prizes in this form.
He is completely overcome by darkness, taking on a Heartless-like form, with dark wisps evaporating off of him.  He loses the Keyblade, and attacks by scratching and clawing at his enemies with his bare hands.
This form’s “Growth Ability” is “Anti Glide”, which causes Sora to zip over to whatever enemy he’s Targeting.
However, Sora has no Combo Finishers, nor can he use Reaction Commands, nor can he cancel out the transformation while enemies are active.
To add onto all of this, he also can’t gain experience when in this form.
Antiform cannot be activated on purpose, it’s a penalty for overusing Drive Forms.
How is it activated? There’s an invisible “Anti Counter” that goes up by 1 whenever he uses a Drive Form. He has a random chance of turning into this form whenever he activates a Drive Form, with greater odds the higher his “Anti Counter” is, and those odds being boosted when fighting an Organization member. Collecting Drive Orbs causes Antiform’s Drive Gauge to deplete faster. He will not enter Antiform when an ally is unconscious.
It is powerful, yet troublesome.
And there’s no in-game tutorial for this, beyond the Drive Form mirror mentioning that Sora can become overcome by the darkness.
Aside from that, Yen Sid has another gift for Sora, according to the Three Good Fairies.
In Final Mix, when Sora tries to leave the room, a puzzle piece falls out of his pocket.
Puzzle Pieces are glowing crowns that float around in the overworld, exclusive to Final Mix. Sora will have to use his Growth Abilities to reach these, but the one that falls out of his pocket is given to him for free.
When a Puzzle Piece is collected, Sora can place it in it’s corresponding Puzzle in Jiminy’s Journal, and then rearrange the pieces he has to make a picture.
When a Puzzle is complete, he loses the ability to rearrange the pieces, but gains a rare item from it.
But that’s not relevant to the story, so I won’t really be going over the Puzzle Pieces, but KHWiki has a whole list of their locations, and the illustrations are beautiful.
Regardless, what is Yen Sid’s gift for Sora, Donald, and Goofy?
He retrieved their Gummi Ship for them!
More specifically, the default Highwind (meaning Riku canonically won the first race in KH1). There’s no in-universe explanation for what happened to any of your custom Gummiships, unfortunately.
However, Yen Sid also has one more thing to tell them.
“Because of your previous endeavors, the worlds have returned to their original states,” he explains, “That means the pathways between them have disappeared.”
“How do we get around?” Donald asks.
“Do not fear,” Yen Sid replies, “If what the King suspected proves true, the worlds have prepared new pathways along which you may travel. These pathways may be utilized by unlocking special gates. How these gates are opened, I’m afraid I do not know…
“However, the Keyblade will serve as your guide. When a beam of light radiates from the Keyblade, return to the Gummi Ship.
“Though the worlds may seem far apart and out of reach, they nonetheless remain connected by invisible tides. As do our hearts.”
“Our hearts are connected,” Sora comments.
“That is correct,” Yen Sid praises, “But be warned. As you proceed, the Heartless and the Nobodies will be using their own paths: Corridors of darkness, to travel from world to world. They may be attempting to link these dark pathways to the gates between the worlds.”
“Hey! That’s not fair!” Donald complains.
Yen Sid smiles and nods.
“Now then, that is all the information I can give to you,” Yen Sid concludes, “Go forth, Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Everyone is waiting.”
The trio thank Yen Sid for the help with a salute and dash out to board the Gummi Ship.
Yen Sid watches them leave with a smile, then teleports away in a flash of light.
Back in the other room, Maleficent’s Raven drops off her cloak, the only thing left of her after her death in the previous game.
They don’t seem to recognize it at first, but they slowly begin to remember the person who once wore it.
They try to stop themselves from remembering her name, but it’s too late, as Maleficent’s power radiates from her tattered robes as her body slowly regenerates.
The Three Good Fairies flee the room to try and warn Yen Sid, the one in blue only having one thing to say as the Mistress of All Evil rises above her.
“Maleficent!” she cries before fleeing the room.
As for the Evil Fairy in question?
Well, why not give a good old fashioned evil laugh to celebrate returning from the dead?

Sora: "What the FUCK is homework???"
Honestly while I'm facinated by everything happening, that in particular raises so many questions

Question de temps.
Moi oui.

Sa., 30.9.2023, 23:00 Uhr: GYM TONIC (B) Molotow, Hamburg
GYM TONIC are an iternational four-piece and talk of the town when it comes to hyped-up synth punk. In some parallel universe, DEVO, Half Japanese and The Residents grew into one and decided to channel their energy into songs about nuclear catastrophes, vitamin injections, car sickness and deadly events. Throw melody lines straight out of the Twillight Zone on top and you have an all-around gem.
