This is another The Walking Dead Telltale series post, this time brushing up on the topic of ships.

Now, I don't personally have a lot of ships for the games. The ones I do are either not officialx non-canon, or optional in the game. For example, Carley and Doug or Carley and Lee. The ships aren't official, though hinted at could have being had things turned out differently. I do see Carley with either one, but my true ship for her is with Lee. They had some chemistry going before Lilly snuffed it out (in my version, I obviously save Carley. Sorry Doug)

Anyways, sorry. Kinda derailed with the explanation. Here are a list of my ships:

And I know hard-core Violentine shippers will probably have my head for being a Clouis shipper, but let me explain why I don't ship Violet x Clem.

Regardless of who she ends up with season 4 (if either character at all), she did have a thing for Gabe in season 3. And this is not me say Clementine is straight. Telltale gave players the option of Louis or Violet for a reason. She's Bi. It's canon. I ain't arguing with that.

What I'm going based off of is what she seems to be attracted to. And that's someone with a dorky personality.

The first ever person she canonly is interested was Gabriel of course. And while through the eyes of the player and Kate, he's this hormonal teenager with huge mood swings. But when you notice the way he acts when Clementine is around, he gets a bit giddy and awkward and just...dorky towards her. (And she even says herself she thinks he's a dork, but in fondness)

Now of the two in season 4, we can all agree that Louis is a dork. He's always horsing around and trying to be a charmer. Where as Violet is always so serious and at the same time a shy person. Her personality is far different from Louis and Gabriel. Not to say the two boys aren't different in ways. But the way they act toward Clementine is pretty much the same, just with Lou being a lot more flirty.

My point being that Clementine has a thing for someone who is dorky and nice to her, yet can be serious when needed. And yes, this description does sound a bit familiar to Duck (minus the serious part). I don't personally ship them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they'd both gotten to survive longer together they could have hooked up.

But note, this is just my thoughts and ship(s). Every one is entitled to their own ideas and I've nothing against those who ship Clementine and Violet. ✌

been playing through TWDG after like 10 years and I decided to draw a really self-serving idea of "what if every child throughout the series made it to Ericsons with Clem"

Duck is not a smart man but he's exceptionally loyal. His lack of wit is countered by his raw strength, despite losing a hand all the way back at the motor inn. At Ericson's he'd probably hang around with the likes of Mitch and Willy. Totally has his dad's hat somewhere.

Becca is the local pain in the ass. Constantly breaching the safe zone and acting primarily in her own interests, few people actually like her but can't deny her capability; she's good to have around in a fight. She's come to respect Clementine's resourcefulness but would never admit it.

Sarah stays firmly within the walls of the school, but that doesn't mean she doesn't pull her own weight. Following in her father's footsteps she's the closest the school has to a doctor now. She'll hang close to Clementine but also gets along with Ruby and Aasim.

Gabe Garcia is the local sadboy. He's not as moody as he was in Richmond, but he's still a little mopey and insists on stepping up. Despite her protests he's very protective of his sister, and still harbors a soft spot for Clementine - so naturally doesn't get along with Louis/Violet.

Mariana Garcia is young but capable, and weirdly well adjusted and mature for her age - she's younger than Gabe but feels like the older sister. After the New Frontier shot her eye out she hasn't been as active in a fight but she'll still insist on pulling her weight while knowing her limits. Gets on with everyone.

James Fairbanks is the oldest known surviving member of his family (unless Sam is still out there) and is brutally protective of his younger brother, Alex. Has a mutual respect with Clem and is very good at setting traps outside the school.

Alex Fairbanks would probably like to fight walkers more but James prefers he'd stick to supply runs and stay on watch. He feels stuck at the kids' table and wants to do more to help, but is at a loss on how to do so.

Who are your top 10 misunderstood characters from Life is Strange and Telltale’s The Walking Dead and why?

Kate (LIS) - Kate isn't misunderstood the same way Rachel and Chloe are, but I do think she's often portrayed as much more feeble then she actually is. For example: Kate stands for herself plenty in game. If you tell her to wait for more proof, she'll send Max this text. "Max. Sorry to have bothered you by asking for your advice. I guess I shouldn't do anything but let people enjoy my video all over the world." She'll also bluntly confront Max if you don't intervene when David's in her face. Don't get me wrong, Kate IS an utter sweetheart, but she's not a doormat either. She has a bit of a bite on multiple occasions.

Max (LIS) - Max is similar to Kate for me. I think she's often portrayed as much more feebly then she is. Some people treat her like she's a ...well...doe but she has a very strong bite to her! I mean, she's back with Chloe for 48 hours at most and she pulls a gun on Frank and maybe pulls the trigger. Also, if you don't side with Chloe for a choice, Max is very sassy about Chloe's objections. Chloe will say something like: "If you only you told David it was your joint," and Max will go "Oh, sorry, I was to busy saving your life. 🙄" Max is a very strong character, so I'm shocked that a lot of people see her as being super delicate. She's the furthest thing from a doormat.

More Undercut

Rachel (LIS) - Rachel deserves better. I can't even really get into this fully on this post because I want to keep my reasons shortish (well...short for me) but for a very quick and not detailed recap of my thoughts. 1. We don't even know if she cheated on Chloe, so, no, she's not the devil for sleeping with Frank. 2. Rachel is manipulative to a certain degree, but there's no indicator that she was an evil serpent women who only spoke in lies and manipulation. 3. There's plenty of in game evidence that she cared about Chloe. We can argue all day about whether she was ever in love with Chloe or not, but there's more than enough to back up that she at least cared for her.

Chloe - I'm going to make short points with her like I did with Rachel because this another topic I could make a full rant about. 1. She is mean, but some people really exaggerate the extent of it. 2. She's not evil for being mad that her best friend who ghosted her figured out how to work a phone when Kate called. 3. She's not a bitch for not liking her Step Father who is abusive to her. 4. She's not terrible for having a tense relationship with her Mother, who made it very clear that David is more than important than her. 5. Women are allowed to be flawed.

Ryan (LIS TC) - I will defend Ryan until the day I die. I know it isn't his best moment if he doesn't believe Alex at the end...but of course he doesn't believe Alex in all the endings?? Jed is his FATHER. A father he's close with and has been told his entire life is a hero. Then Alex (rightfully) bursts in and pops his bubble, and in the moment, he doesn't handle that well unless there's a lot of confirmation that his loving father is actually a hidden monster. And yes, I know that Steph backs up Alex no matter what...but Jed isn't her Dad, and she isn't as connected to the town, or it's stories, as deeply as Ryan is. She loses way less if Alex is telling the truth, while Alex's (rightful) honesty destroys what's left of Ryan's family after he already lost his Mother.

Violet (TWDG) - I've always thought it was weird how upset people got when Vi betrayed Clem in the cells. First off...Clem betrayed her first?? Vi spent the entire game defending Clem when no one else would. When AJ killed Marlon she stood in front of them with a cleaver to protect them from the other kids. When everyone voted to kick Clem and AJ out, she was the one shouting from the rooftops that it was unfair. When Clem and AJ came back, she was the one who insured that they could stay. And yet, when Clem saw her in danger, she chose not to save her. It's not shocking that she feels so upset, but it did shock me how fans reacted to it, and I'm someone who saved and romanced Louis! I mean...how unfair is a betrayal really if they stab you with the same knife you stuck in their back?

Louis (TWDG) - It's crazy how much of Ryan's paragraph I could apply to Louis. Of course he gets mad when Clem's murder toddler, who has never been taught restraint, puts a bullet in his best friends head. Marlon had given up. The gun was no longer in his hands. Clem had it handled peacefully, and then the situation ended with a bullet. I totally understand why he was mad, and I even understand why he wanted them to leave and not come back. He was mourning, and his pain is made even worse if you had Clem appeal to him because he helped disarm Marlon and that led to his death. So, in other words, I think his rage in episode 2 is very understandable. Plus, he moves on from his anger and apologizes for kicking them out in...Episode 2. The same episode the anger starts.

Sarah (TWDG) - People complain about her being a burden so much, but honestly that's Carlos's fault. She never really got a chance to be a survivor in the apocalypse because she was sheltered non-stop, and there's multiple moments that imply that she could have made it if things were different. I don't FULLY blame Carlos for sheltering her since I understand wanting your child to grow up in peace instead of surrounded by horror...but he really screwed her over. I think people should be way harsher on him than her. Sarah was doing her best. Carlos was not.

Ben (TWDG) - In the same manner as Sarah, people often complain that he's a burden. And...he kinda is, but also he's also literally sixteen years old. He makes bad choices because he's naive, not because he's malicious. Also, I know he indirectly got Duck and Katjaa killed, but the bandits were threatening to kill EVERYONE in the group if he didn't slip medicine to them. What Ben did got Katjaa and Duck killed, but who's to say the bandits wouldn't have kept their word and killed the entire group if he had refused. He was put in a no win situation, and honestly I just so much pity for him. I'm glad my Lee looks out for him.

Jane (TWDG) - Jane is...weird because she is a bad person but also some people act like she never cared about Clem and had entirely selfish motivations. She cared about Clem enough to teach her how to survive, which is something she never bothered to do with Sarah, even though she needed a mentor much more than Clem. And for as much as I disagree with her of philosophy of "never trust anyone, people are bad," I do think she was genuinely trying to help and giving what she thought was good advice. She also comes back and saves the group during the shoot out for Clem's sake, which proves that her motivations aren't entirely selfish...just mostly.

Where Marlon and the reader have been together for some time, and like every relationship it has its ups and downs. But the two recently gotten into a fight over something pretty dumb but it left the two mad at one another, and the reader goes out to hunt calm down only to come back really injured? And How Marlon would react?

Marlon x Reader

Recently Marlon had gotten into a fight with Y/N. It was stupid, and yet the two still began drifting apart over the few days after the fight had happened. Marlon switched their jobs, and Y/N had sat as far away from him at dinner as they could.

Marlon had switched Y/N’s job to hunting with Louis and Aasim. Y/N didn’t mind it, they were friends with both of them. They felt like going to hunt might calm them down.

One day the three were out hunting for rabbits and Aasim was standing next to Y/N in the bushes.

“I see one-over there near that tree.” Aasim whispered.

“I’ll get it.” Y/N whispered again.

They pulled their bow out, Aasim looking intently at the rabbit.

Suddenly, Y/N fell to the ground, their bow flying backwards. Aasim turned to them, crouching down to them.

Y/N clutched their stomach, grunting in pain as Louis emerged from behind a patch of trees.

“Are they Ok?!” He yelled, running over to the two.

Y/N fell limp as they fainted.

“Shit-did you shoot them by accident?” Aasim asked, pulling Y/N up in his arms.

“Y-yeah…I think I did. Shit.” Louis responded quietly.

Aasim picked them up, slinging Y/N over his shoulder.

Marlon ran to the front gates as soon as Ruby said someone was hurt.

“Is it Y/N?” Marlon yelled, following Ruby to the gates.

“I-I don’t know.” Ruby responded.

Once they got to the gates, Aasim ran in with Y/N limp over his shoulder. Louis followed not far after him.

“Jesus, what happened out there?!” Marlon yelled to Aasim.

Aasim didn’t respond, running inside with Ruby next to him.

Marlon ran up to Louis who was stood outside of the school, face in hands.

“Fuck, it was me. I accidentally shit them in the stomach with my bow.”

Marlon’s eyes widened, worried about his partner.

“What?! How bad was it?”

“Not too bad…I didn’t see much blood.”

“We’ll that’s really helpful, not TOO much blood. That means there was still blood. Did it go all the way through?” Marlon scoffed.

“Yeah-it did.” Louis responded.

It had been a few days since the accident. Marlon had been in his office most of the time, too worried about Y/N to think about anything else.

Marlon sighed, slipping back in his chair.

He got up, and began walking to the infirmary, staring at his shoes the whole way and mentally cursing at himself. He felt so bad.

He stood outside the door, contemplating.

‘What if they’re still mad?’

He knocked softly on the door while waiting outside of it.

“Go away.”

“It’s me, it’s Marlon.”

Silence.

The door creaked open, revealing Y/N looking pretty beat up still.

Marlon immediately hugged them, engulfing their body in his arms. His shoulders fell at ease and he rested his head on Y/N’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry…for everything.” Marlon said, shutting the door behind them.

“It’s ok. It’s not your fault.”

“It is…this wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t get mad you.”

“I’m ok, though. Imagine if Louis or Aasim had gotten hurt and not me? That wouldn’t have been good.” Y/N said, fingers intertwined with Marlons.

“Can I just hug you? I just want to know you’re really ok. That I’m not just dreaming.”

Y/N smiled, tilting their head and moving in to kiss Marlon.

They both smiled into the kiss.

“I love you.” Marlon said, holding Y/N close to him.

“I love you too.”

Hello, my friend! 👋 Been a while! But yeah, I'm doing fine; a lot of the usual work with writing fic and blog posts in between.

Yeah it's funny to step away from a fandom you're so engrossed in for so long, like twdg was such a huge part of my life back in 2018-2020 with me running this blog, writing fic, and streaming. Now I'm just in a completely different headspace in general, and looking at the games now, they're still amazing but my reasonings are different. Also I talk about the comics a lot, which isn't something I would've guessed I'd be doing. If you go back to when they were announced, I made posts being like "yeeeeeah I dunno if I'm gonna read them :/" jokes on me. I read them multiple times, I need to make that useful haha.

As for LiS True Colors, I actually super loved it?? way more than I ever did the first LiS game?? though I think I might've loved it for the wrong reasons. I don't know, I haven't actually looked into what LiS fans thought of it compared to the other games, but for me it was a "perfect time, perfect place" game in the moment. To me the whole thing was nearly a perfect escapism game; the music is an A+, the entire town is gorgeous and covered in flowers and woods, Alex gets to live in a nice apartment for free [the true fantasy], there's a whole LARP campaign to play through, a flower festival where I've never been so conflicted on who to give a rose to, and overall just the coziest vibes. I swear, I spent most of the game just wandering around the town looking at all the flowers, it was great.

Like if Gabe didn't die and True Colors was just about Alex moving to this fantasy-like small town and working through her issues with the help of her powers, I would've been 100% on board. I didn't mind the mystery, though I totally guessed Jed would be the twist villain given the first episode immediately presents him as a hero who saved a bunch of people in the mines, I was like "Oh did he now... mmhmmm mmhmmm and he's Ryan's dad, oohhh he's gonna be this game's Jefferson-" except he was done better than Jefferson imo. He didn't turn into a cartoon character and his motivations behind the cover up were interesting. He didn't do it for the aesthetic like Jefferson did. And in the end I got everyone to side with me, except Charlotte because I told her to take the money so she wanted to speak out but couldn't, which was honestly fine with me like take their money, send Ethan to college, we'll stab Typhon just fine without your vocal support.

I liked most of the characters, except for Diane and Mac, though I reluctantly disliked Mac less by the end... Diane can suck an egg, though. I don't think I've ever wanted to throw a character out a window more than when Alex came back all bloodied with a bullet wound on her head as she exposed the truth and when she asks why no one's saying anything, Diane just goes, "We don't want to embarrass you" kjlkajdslkjalkjdl LADY DON'T PISS ME OFF

As for Ryan and Steph, I liked them both, trying to choose between them was absurdly difficult. It was like True Colors saw how easily I picked between Louis and Violet and took it as a challenge to create Ryan and Steph specifically to stump me. I mean, soft boy who loves nature, goes out of his way to be kind and helpful to those around him, has a slow build up to being emotionally available with someone he trusts, and has some daddy issues? A girl with pretty brown eyes who loves DnD and LARP, has a passion for music and will deflect with humor, who knows who she is and is eager to help those around her, and who isn't just another rehash of Chloe? They knew what they were doing; they dressed Steph up in as a witch after having Ryan act like a goof acting like enemy creatures, they were made for me.

Having done both routes, I do prefer Steph. I adore her and Alex together, but Alex and Ryan are super cute, too.

It's not a perfect game and there are issues in the writing but honestly, I don't care. I had a good time. I was engaged. I looked at every single flower and kissed a pretty girl so good that the world exploded. What a great game.

my favorite female character: alex, my darling beloved.

my favorite male character: nicolas. worrick is a very close second but i just adore my husband too much.

my favorite book/season/etc: we only got one season for the show rip but for the manga, i really love volume / arc 4. it felt like the main trio were settled into something familiar with each other & we were beginning to get to the nitty gritty of the world around them. plus the club fight scene is so good.

my favorite episode: siblings from the anime, chapter chapter 17 from the manga.

my favorite cast member: n/a.

my favorite ship: nicolas / alex, nicolas / worrick, ginger / gina, striker / marco.

a character i’d die defending: erika on god. my poor baby girl went through so much, i need her away from that creep ivan.

a character I just can’t sympathize with: none really, like the previous answer in the kny meme: the characters we're meant to sympathize with all have pretty good reasons to do so.

a character i grew to love: a collective answer but the destroyers group, their introduction was albeit a little clunky & came at the expense of other beloved characters dying around the same time. i absolutely adore them now though.

my anti otp: none.

my favorite male character: torn between lee, marlon or david.

my favorite book/season/etc: s4 imo. it suffered issues in the writing but i think that was more a result of the situation behind the scenes than the actual writers themselves. overall this season did a lot to redeem from the disasters that s2 & 3 had been.

my favorite episode: no time left in s1, done running from s4.

my favorite cast member: i love a lot of them but melissa & dave will always have a special place in my heart sobs.

my favorite ship: clem / louis, clem / marlon, marlon / louis, lee / carley, lee / lily.

a character i’d die defending: christa & lily hands down. the fandom can end up being really weird about lily, especially kenny stans & i think that season 4's jumbled writing only worsened this.

a character I just can’t sympathize with: kenny. idc i want that stupid racist crybaby dead.

a character i grew to love: violet.

Been thinking about The Walking Dead Telltale series lately. Like how regardless of your choices, thing still go the way the game designers had intended for it. Cause no matter if you decided against something or save another character from dying, you still end up where they want you to and most characters you save end up dying anyways...

At some point, I would really like to do a zine or comic book or graphic novel where you actually get a choice in the outcomes of your decisions so they aren't pointless. You save a character, they live longer than the game let them. You decide to go a different direction, you get to.

This idea is solely because there were characters who I think could have had a chance and maybe even made a difference later on. For example, by saving one character could be potentially saving others down the line (or other characters may die sooner due to the change).

Cause I got this one idea for if Duck hadn't been bitten in Season 1, and instead it was Katjaa (sorry Kat, I love her character but I really don't think she would have made it long in the world of the dead). I think had this been the turnout, it would have changed quite a few things. Not necessarily the course of the game, but some of the characters' development.

With Duck alive, Kenny may not have went as far off the deepend and kept him from having as much anger issues as he did. And with Katjaa having died the way she did, it would have affected Duck kinda like it did Sarah with her dad in season 2. But he wouldn't have been in denial after her death and possibly snap out of it on his own with given time.

He would start wanting to learn how to survive. Kenny would teach him best he could, but at some points Lee would might have to take over since his mind still wouldn't quite be in order after Katjaa.

Time skip, he'd end up being a pretty good survivor like Clem. (And I noticed how in season 1 he was actually a really observational kid, noticing things others didn't and had really good hearing). I'm not gonna talk about season 2 cause I don't think his being there would change any of the others' deaths, but I think he could change at least 1 in season 3.

Mariana.

The reason she had been killed was due to no one knowing or noticing the New Frontier were hiding in the woods waiting to ambush Javier's family. But I thought with what I just mentioned of Duck being observational is if he'd made it to then, it's possible he could have noticed the glint of a gun in the bushes or saw someone moving out there. And just before the shooting could start, yell at the others to take cover and tackle Mariana out of the way.
