STOLEN AGAIN

I genuinely didn't know if I could be bothered to announce this again but I can't let it slide.

This is the second time that I'm aware of that this particular fic has been stolen. Granted, from what I can tell the only thing that is similar seems to be the smut, but that isn't the point. I don't particularly know how to go about this because as most of you know I'm not at all fond of the ao3 interface and I rarely use it.

But I wanted to post here because as we know, fic plagiarists seldom write anything for themselves. The ao3 date is confusing me a lil but I think they posted this chapter just two days after I posted my fic? I can't say for sure but it doesn't inspire hope for this particular poster that they are writing for themselves.

I was torn about whether to make a post about this at all because last time my work got stolen it made me so incredibly anxious and paranoid. I was physically and mentally drained because of it and I didn't know if I wanted to go through that again.

However I'm willing to take the risk because I know it's the right thing to do, and the fact that other moots or fellow writers could have had their work stolen by this person is the main reason I am doing this. It takes an incredible amount of energy, time, and passion to write or do anything creative and we are doing it for free because we want to and because it's fun. And to have that trivialised by being stolen for ?? laziness ?? clout ?? I don't know, it sucks.

I really do hope this author does write for themselves and just had a moment of weakness.

The writing clearly isn't entirely copied and pasted but has been tweaked slightly, I'm assuming in hopes of getting away with it? But at that point wouldn't it be better to just actually write something yourself?

Anyway, hopefully this user hasn't stolen from anyone else, but just in case I will link their fic below. It's a big multichap series and I honestly wouldn't have known if an anon hadn't have told me.

there’s so much plagiarism going on these days😭😭 i cannot. but i was just thinking abt how of course it’s a huuuuge insult to the original author. but like it’s also an insult to yourself?? you can’t give yourself the chance to come up with something original, to grow and learn as a creator (you don’t count as a creator if all your content is stolen)? and so you stoop so low as to steal someone else’s hard work and take credit for yourself when you’ve done nothing but insult that writer, writing as a whole, a fandom as a whole, a community as a whole?

and you’ve insulted yourself. you’re showing to other people that you can’t be original, that you don’t have respect for hard working content creators or the effort they put into the specific work(s) you plagiarized but also all the effort they have put in before that work to form a writing style, a work flow, gain supporters and readers, etc. you’re showing that you don’t care to show your readers something original, that you don’t put true effort and care into the content that you claim to “create.” you’re showing people that you don’t care that plagiarism is insulting to your fandom as a whole, because your actions as an individual do affect the fandom you’re a part of, and you are giving them negative representation.

i implore you to try. try and be original, try to create something that’s actually yours, that you can claim. i assure you that you will feel far happier and more satisfied creating than stealing from other hard working, well meaning people. because as someone who plagiarizes, any recognition or compliments or anything given to you in relation to “your” fics is not your own. it’s given to you bc of something you stole, not something you actually created so i don’t understand how that could feel good for you. trying can be hard, but it’s worth it. it’s worth it to make something of yourself, and it’s worth it not to be incredibly rude, dismissive, and disrespectful of actual creators.

This user has stolen from me and @kaicubus. They stole thier Karaku and Sekido fics and my Aizetsu and I'm not sure who they Urogi could have been taken from. Please do not send them any hate, just report them and hope that this book is taken down swiftly.

It was brought to my attention today that a wattpad writer has stolen one of my full fics - Part 1 of Trust Me, My Love, to be specific.

The only difference between the two fics is that the wattpad fic is in Spanish.

There are some side by side comparisons between the two fics (those who speak Spanish will immediately spot the similarities):

I do not know whether they have plagiarized other fics by me or any other writer, but I felt really upset bcs I have put a lot of my time and emotions into that specific fic.

I hope nothing similar will ever happen to another mutual writer of mine.

First off I'm going to start this by saying I am not in this fandom (DRAMIONE) but I don't need to be in a fandom when an absolutely reprehensible and disgusting thing has happened to a fanfic author.

This author who goes by username OneEqualTemper on AO3 has their work plagiarized.

Someone alerted Tali that the book they've purchased on Kindle sounded a too much alike to her fic titled Be My Baby.

As of now the author of the plagiarised work A.J. Nox has gone private on her TikTok account and taken down her "promotional videos" after people have commented on it accusing her of plagiarism.

This is abhorrent and the audacity of this person to steal and pass it off as their own is absolutely breathtaking. No one should go through this. No author should fear their work be plagiarised.

Please I implore you to report this person. A.J. Nox should not get even a cent from this.

Whether the accounts that are stealing and plagiarizing fics from MULTIPLE writers in the community are doing it to be trolls, gain clout, and whatever the fuck else they have on their agenda, it is deeply disturbing and disappointing to see.

This is just such a pain in the ass to deal with and weird as fuck behavior. I recommend blocking them so they don’t steal your work but if y’all could please report the posts it would mean a lot 🤍

A lot of the dishonest, bad-faith Twitter discourse accusing hbomberguy of being a murderer is designed to provoke an overreaction among his fans. It's supposed to get the response of "James' potential death wouldn't be that bad anyways" or "James deserved it" so they can have more ammunition to paint hbomberguy in a negative light.

I'm typing this because I've seen several posts on this site coming dangerously close to doing that.

Don't fall for the bait, don't give into the hate. Disengage. The average person has seen the video or had it accurately recounted to them, the average person knows that he said people who harass Somerton are "worse than him and will not see the light of Heaven." Don't take the bait.

If I read a story I really enjoy, my first thought is to leave a like or a kudos, and a comment or reblog. In some instances, if I am moved enough by a person’s writing, I will reach out via DM to tell them how much I like their work and ask about their creative process.

However, I have never liked another person’s story so much that I have thought “I will take this and post it as my own.”

It’s the wrong thing to do, but I can understand why people do it. You see, there is a high that people chase; when you first post a fic and the notes begin to roll in, that attention is addictive. It can be difficult to continue to supply to the demand you’re suddenly getting, and you don’t want to slow your roll because then people lose interest and move onto the next shiny, new thing.

This is where I have seen some users resort to plagiarism.

You should write because you love the process, write because the story you want to tell feels like it will continue to claw at the inside of your skull until you get it out, write because you are passionate about it.

I have fallen into the trap of being obsessed with engagement, and feeling like a failure if my fics don’t surpass a certain number of notes. It’s never gotten so bad that I have been tempted to copy the work of others, but I have worked hard to get myself to a place where I’m reminded why I fell in love with writing in the first place. I’ve disciplined myself not to look at notes, to feel satisfied with what I publish, and to strive to be better with each piece I write.

If it’s the recognition that drives you and not the creative process, then I urge you to reconsider your mindset, because a little known fact is that no amount of praise or kudos will ever feel like it’s enough. It’s addictive, and you will be forever chasing a feeling of satisfaction that you’ll never achieve.

You actually worsen this by stealing the work of others, because while you may receive praise for what is considered to be “your” work, that recognition is empty and meaningless, because you’re receiving compliments for something that isn’t yours. Subconsciously, your mind knows this, so the praise doesn’t scratch the same itch it usually does, so you double down and repeat. It’s a vicious cycle.

Please learn to find love and satisfaction in your writing, or step away until you can. The enjoyment of your craft should never be at the expense of taking from your fellow writers.

ha, so yeah. this week was phenomenal with the plagiarism of three of my fics, anon hate, and now being FIRED. sorry in advance for the rambling

i literally just applied for a position at another location for the bakery yesterday. i am moving to my mom's residence in the next state over since my medical expenses have become so much and my mobility has diminished. but now i will have little to no finances to move and have no job lined up

the company is telling me i can appeal the decision after 30 days and be deemed able for rehire. i am trying to get in contact with the other store i applied to, to see if there's any way we can maybe move forward despite this. because it's retaliation from my direct management here, i would swear by it

but yeah, so i have to put myself into that weird, rent will be late because i moved out / broke my lease, stretch the prescriptions i have until further notice, still provide necessities for my cats, and move three hours away by the end of the month situation. my insurance was cancelled the second i signed the termination papers and my upcoming surgery will have to be cancelled

i'm just...feeling so lost and beat down. i really don't know what's even happening right now. i just....yeah. there is absolutely no pressure at all, i promise you, but i'll be linking my ko-fi in case anyone wants be kind enough to toss me a few dollars. but i love y'all so much anyway, truly.
