I am so sorry for the 3 people who consistently see my posts. I either share wonderful things and awful things. And I don't think there's a middle ground. Or a pattern.

my account was terminated without any warning today. March 25, 2024. all of my blogs are gone and i have lost everything i have on them. you won't even be able to see any comments or reblogs for me on any of your posts.
if you have commissioned me over Tumblr DMs and not Discord, please contact me here. i did not have a copy of my commission list saved. i do not know who hasn't paid and who already has. i do not remember who was on the list. i do not want anyone to be cheated out of their money.
i have no idea why this happened. i was not doing anything that could justify my account being terminated with no warning or explanation. i'm so paranoid about it that i won't even type the blog names; that's why they're images instead.
but at this point, most of you know the type of whump creator i am. one who creates whatever he wants, no matter how disturbing or explicit it may be. one who loves creating whump and content in general of the Not Safe For This Website kind.
getting one of my blogs flagged, and now losing everything, is not going to stop me. i'm not going anywhere. but i am going to be changing my approach to posting content.

believe me when i say that i am fucking devastated.
but i'm not going anywhere. i will die with this site when it eventually goes down, and not because it tried to kill me.
that being said, you can find me here on Cohost, which is where i'll migrate to when this place dies or where i'll communicate if i happen to get IP address banned (probably without warning) or something that prevents me from coming back.
if you don't want to refollow me here, i totally understand. i can't say how grateful i am to everyone who does, but like...i get it. it's tedious having to refollow me all the time, never knowing when a blog (or full ass account) is going to suddenly disappear. if you want to get off this crazy, unpredictable ride now, i don't blame you.
and if you decide to stick around, for however long, thank you. this day has been one of my worst nightmares and i don't think i would be handling this with nearly as much grace if it were not for my friends and everyone on my Discord server (which, by the way, is the only safe place where i share everything uncensored).
they were my first line of communication. they helped me get the word out. they rallied for me and kept me from having one massive breakdown over this, so my heartfelt thanks go out to them.
i'm using the whump community tags in hopes that more people will see this. i had hundreds of followers on my last blog, more than a thousand on the blog before that...i know this isn't going to reach everyone, but i hope it will reach some people.

ABOUT THE ANIMAL
This is Batty, a type of line-and-color-secreting organism (likely mammal). She is legally categorized as an unwholesome cartoon character (this may be a subtype of cryptid but as of this writing the organization has not obtained a warrant to catch and vivisect her, so the science is unconfirmed). We still let her work as a writer and storyboard artist for TV animation though. Diplomatic reasons.
This Tumblr is an archive of the secretions she produces (known by laymen as “personal art she makes in her free time”). These substances may include nudity, blood/injury, dark/mature themes and, as quoted from a statement by the subject, “whatever the fuck else I feel like.” Do not let her “cute” art style fool you. This is merely a biological lure tactic. She is in fact what we in the scientific community recognize as a “Bitch” and engages in what the layman might understand as “Bitch Activities.”
The archive is currently under construction. As antiquated works are unearthed and uploaded by our system, they will be posted out of chronological order. the thing thats nice about crab day, and the reason i think it has a shot of actually working, is that it's very very simple. tumblr traditionally has a very hard time crowdfunding or organizing because the way the reblog system works, aka the thing we are trying to protect here, means that posts travel in a very meandering and unpredictable path, and branch off into completely different posts with completely different additions, so people aren't even all looking at the same thing.
but this doesn't need an info post. its crab day. the day for buy crabs. that's all you need really, any memes or jokes or new posts about it will do just as good a job of getting the word out as a proper Info Post. if people are really confused, they can just go into the tag and Figure It Out very easily. no instructions needed.

Yo, I'm a r/196 refugee. And I'm rather confused with Tumblr as a site/app. And it seems like you've been using it for a long time, and are sympathetic towards myself and fellow refugees. Would you mind helping me/us out?
How do you use tags? It seems they're used to filter what you want to see, but people also just seem to continue their post in the tags? Which confuses me.
Is a blog the same thing as just a subreddit? Can there be multiple people posting to a blog? How do you find blogs? What is a blog? I'm confused
I heard someone say that reblogging functions the same way as commenting on reddit, is this true?
I also heard that reblogging is the same to the algorithm as upvotes are for reddit, is this true?
What's the difference between asking someone something (as I'm doing now) and just chatting/messaging/PMing someone? Is there a difference?
Are there any things that are frowned upon here that you wouldn't know if you just joined?
Are there any systems in place for separating certain posts similar to the subreddit system?
Do you have any advice for what I should do on Tumblr? Or is it just a wild west of people doing random bullshit?

Yeah, tags have the intended use (filtering posts) and the communal use (quietly commenting on stuff). They're used interchangeably, and unpredictably. If this doesn't answer you, then I'm sorry for being inadequate.
A blog is like a combination of a user profile and a subreddit. You can post there normally, or you can theme your blog around stuff. There can be multiple people posting to a blog, but that's soley reserved for a thing called a sideblog. Sideblogs are just normal blogs with a lot more emphasis on posting. You can invite other people to a sideblog too.
You find blogs by searching for them, or by clicking on their icon.
Yes, reblogging counts as commenting.
I don't know, my advice is to just turn off the algorithm in your settings. As I've said in my tumblr tutorial, "don't try to appease a god that doesn't exist. You asking for advice relating to the algorithm that isn't turning it off shows that you've failed to listen to that tutorial. Tsk tsk tsk.
Asking is moreso just a one-way communication with someone, while pm'ing someone is like initiating a discord communication.
Don't repost art. Reblog it.
You can block people, or you can block tags (or turn off your algorithm you tiktoker [derogatory]).
It's a wild west.

this might come across very random but your one of my fav blogs so i thought u might be a good person to ask<3
i’m new-ish to tumblr (as in i’ve had it for a while but other than the odd reblog i haven’t actually posted myself) and i wanna get into writing my own stuff i just have no clue where to start😭like do just post it? do you think it’s best to start with a navigation or do i just start posting and make one later? what tags do i use?
no pressure at all to answer this but if u have any advice at all pls lmk <3<3<3
first of all, thank you so much! that's so sweet and it means the world to me 🫶 tumblr is now a very different place from when I started posting my writing in 2017, especially when it comes to creators, and there's no "magic trick" for gaining visibility/an audience (trust me, if there were, I'd be using it!) so I can only tell you what works for me/what I like to see in a writer. But basically, yes, when I first started out, I posted my one-shots into the wild and that was pretty much it, lol. part of what makes any tumblr journey enjoyable is that it's completely unpredictable! however what I'd recommend if you want to start writing on tumblr is:
organize your blog. you don't need an "about" page at all (do not disclose any information you don't want to! i know it's becoming tumblr etiquette to call people by their first names, but stranger danger is a very real thing). However a masterlist is awesome to regroup all your works / for readers to discover more of your writing if they liked the first taste they got. Similarly, it's great to have a list of fandoms/characters you enjoy writing about so people know what to expect, or perhaps request, when visiting your blog. Honestly I'd say the order in which you do these (writing or navigation first?) is of very little importance, as long as you do them both.
tag your one-shots. i know the tumblr tagging system is kinda shit, but afaik it's still the best way to have your writing reach a wider audience. you shouldn't tag a pairing / character that doesn't appear in your story however, that's really irritating. i read somewhere that only the first five tags you use will actually have your post appear in the search, which idk if it's true? in any case, don't hesitate to go crazy with the tags by taking inspiration from other writers. you can see that i use mine pretty liberally, lol
interact with other writers!!!! and users in general. i can't stress this enough: my tumblr experience only became fun when I made friends. writing is sharing! don't hesitate to reach out. don't assume a creator you admire from afar is intimidating or won't give you the time of day because we literally all are losers on a laptop. comment, reblog fics you like, send authors, artists, fandom members asks!! it will be a marvelous experience, i promise. also tag me when you start posting! I'd love to read it!

i love magnets because of that tumblr post that says no one really understands magnetism. i don't know if that's true, but it reminds me of one of my favorite things about science, which is the awareness that we only know a fraction of what there is to know. (my other favorite thing is about science is the curiosity and drive to know more than we do currently.) magnets are also fun because of the whole "opposites attract" thing, which is a cliche for a reason. also i love magnets because they allow me to stick my siblings' photos and the art they drew for me when they were little to my fridge <3
i love my tag #me when i discovered narwhals and hope to have many more opportunities to use it in the future.
i love malaphors and mondegreens and memes. i love the way our brains connect things to make new things, often on accident, and i love it when the new things are funny.
i love the moon. oh, how i love the moon. i love how lonely she is and yet how every time i look at her i know someone else is looking at her too. i love that there's just this huge body that appears in the sky every few weeks, wherever i am, and she's been doing that for eons. like, there's nothing else i can see from inside of my house that is that ancient. there's nothing else i can see on a regular basis that i know billions and billions of other people have also seen. i love how she's not visible all the time so that when she is, i still feel excited about it. i love that she can't see me back and that she doesn't care about me or about anything at all. i love my playlist of songs about the moon. i love using she/her pronouns for the moon. i love how she protects us from asteroids! when i think about the tides i get incredibly fucked up about it. we're a system! we affect each other!!!!!
speaking of. i love mutualism and mutual aid. i love that we want to help. i love that we want to be helped. i love that we want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. i love that we want to belong and to contribute.
i love it when things are meta, by which i mean i love it when things are self-referential. i love it the way i love autology, when something is an example of what it describes. i also love what tumblr calls meta, fan analysis of shows and books and whatnot, but who doesn't??
i love math. i love that math is systematic and reliable but i also love it for the exact opposite reason...i love math because it's so complex, because it's so unfinished, because it's so unpredictable. because what it's describing is complex and unfinished and unpredictable! i love the t-shirts my friends and i made in math club in high school (i, my imaginary friend) and these very bad math pickup lines i made to impress a beloved mutual.
i love mortality. i love knowing that i am mortal. i love knowing that existence is change, that things come to an end, that entropy is natural.
i love that mourning and morning are homonyms. i love that life goes on but i am changed. i love the things in life that are cyclical, that remind me that i'm part of the great turning of all things.
i love the word maybe. i love that it's a verb phrase turned into an adverb. i love the hope inherent in it. i love that you never know. you never know.

A/n: Honestly just wrote this to get it out of my system. I might be writing more Sour related fics because I’m obsessed with the album, also you guys can always send in requests :) I hope you guys like it💜

People do stupid things for love. Though the phrase is overused, it’s true. That’s why it’s called Crazy, Stupid, Love. Love can be defined as both crazy and stupid. It’s a thrilling adventure that has its ups and downs. Where you’ll end up? You’ll never know, as the conclusions of love can be unpredictable. Some people end up happily living their lives with their special person. While others are left heartbroken, searching every lonely place and corner for a lover that’ll last forever.
You were stupidly and embarrassingly in love with the boy from Kingston. You poured your heart and soul to show him how much you loved him. You were willing to bend over backwards and hand him the world on a silver platter. But now you and your heart were just victims of his journey to get to her.
The pictures weren’t a shock to you. Though you carried a heavy heart, you weren’t surprised to see them so happily together. As much as it hurt you to admit it, they belonged together and she always had his heart. Even when you were in a relationship with Tom, he was never fully yours. Instead, you were just a replacement to fill in the emptiness she left on his heart. You didn’t exactly fit, but you were willing to love him with every ounce of your being, that he decided to make it work.
Tom would never intentionally hurt you, there wasn’t a single bad bone in that man’s body. It might be foolish of you to continue defending his actions towards you and your feelings, but you couldn’t bring yourself to say a bad thing about him. You could have called him a traitor and a liar. You could have screamed at him about how he betrayed you and played with your feelings. But you couldn’t. You could never say those things to his face and all those unspoken words would be kept inside.
Though unspoken words are a dangerous thing. They took over your brain until they were the only things you thought about and piled above each other until you couldn’t take it anymore. All the things you wanted to say and ask Tom were building up inside you, waiting for you to combust.
Then you exploded.
As an artist, you wanted to be a role model for your fans. A way you did that was through your music. Through the lyrics of your songs you showed your fans the importance of self love and being true to themselves. Part of being a good role model for your fans was honesty. With the state of your mind, you didn’t have the willpower to write anything empowering or upbeat. The words your wrote consisted of heartache, Tom’s faults, and all the things you did to call him yours. If this was your way of teaching your fans to embrace their feelings and understanding closure, then this album was it.
This wasn’t a love letter to Tom confessing how much you wanted him back. No, this was your goodbye.

my top 2020 fics!
okay! so i recently jumped back into this fandom after a couple of years, and started reading fic again, and i wanted to rec some of my favorites that were written this year. there’s ten on this list, and i probably could’ve done like 30 but this is already so long lol. it’s kind of in a general order, so #1 is my fav for this year, but i tried not to focus on the ranking too much because it stresses me out and i don’t need any more anxiety so it’s ended up being a pretty vague system.
1. Our Lives, Non-Fiction (113k) by @indiaalphawhiskey
listen. I’ve reblogged this fic like 10 times. I’ve read it twice already and it came out less than 3 weeks ago. It is an instant classic, right up there with fics like TIF or Wear it like a Crown. It has gorgeous, gorgeous writing, a thoroughly developed plot and well written character development, and such a compelling story. It is a marcel/louis fic, and I usually shy away from that kind of thing, but i’m so glad i didn’t this time because god, this one is so good. Seriously, if anyone ends up reading it, come and rant to me about it and we can cry together. Halfway through the second chapter, I created a note on my phone so I could keep track of everything I loved, and my comment on that fic is essentially a love letter to @indiaalphawhiskey. It's just so good. If you’re going to read one fic off this list, read this one.
2. Loving You's a Bloodsport (106k) by @rosesau
okay i’m pretty sure this one made me cry like four times, which is a feat for me because i’m not usually a crier. Its soulmates with a little bit of a twist, and the plot is so well developed. Harry and louis’ feelings and their progression are written so vividly and i wish i could forget that i read it so i could go and read it again for the first time. It's also got some enemies to lovers, which is my favorite trope, and all of the side characters are beautifully developed as well. Prince!Harry, soldier!Louis, angsty soulmates. What more could you want? Oh and if you’re not convinced enough, here is a quote that fucking follows me around because its so beautiful: “Love and hate are two sharp knives balanced on a very fine line and I’ve cut myself on both because of you.” (ohmygod)
3. Mine Would Be You (114k) by @crinkle-eyed-boo
okay this one is listed at number three but it really should be 1c lol. I started this one at 11 pm like an idiot, and i don’t think i slept that night at all. It's Exes to lovers, and it's so well written. It switches between the past and the present, it's heartbreakingly beautiful, the breakup and resolution are both so realistically written as well, and there's a great ot5 plotline too that i really loved. This one was also an instant classic- i bookmarked it before i even finished reading it. It's also got beautiful art and Louis and Harry are both artists in NYC, which I'm a slut for. Please read this one, it's so good.

4. The Murmur of Yearning (93k) by @mediawhorefics (for some reason tumblr isn’t letting me tag them??) | mediawhore on ao3
I just finished this one, and my goddddddd it's so good. I read it in a day, and it's essentially 100k. Which isn’t that unusual for me except I did skip a class to get through it (an exam prep class. Not my finest moment but I passed. so.) There are tons of original characters that draw you in, and the whole world that is created is so fascinating and detailed. There's also no homophobia, so if you like historical fics but get triggered by that kind of thing, this is for you! Also, if you’re worried about the non-con elements, I'm sure you could message the author but also feel free to check in with me! I’ll definitely be rereading it in the near future and am totally up for discussing and crying over this fic with anyone.
5. Remember Me Fondly by @bluejeanlouis | kiddle on ao3
ahhhhhhh this one made me sob too! It's set in both the present and the past, and I fell in love with all of the characters. This one is also heartbreaking, but I promise there’s a happy ending. Also, they way this fic deals with the fame and the homophobia and tours that harry and louis went through -even if it isn’t actually canon and is set in the 90s- is so vividly painful and realistic. It's written half through a journalist’s eyes and half through harry and louis, yet the switch in pov is so seamless and fluid and adds so much to the piece. 11/10.
6. Nothing But You On My Mind (83k) by @absoloutenonsense | nonsensedarling on ao3
okay. I started this in the middle of the night, and told myself I'd read one chapter to see if I liked it and then I would go to sleep. I'm pretty sure I read like 6. It sucks you in right from the beginning, and there's such a well developed plot. And it's so unpredictable and all of the details are so nuanced and tiny and then you look back at everything after you’ve finished it and go oh. Ohhhhhh. This one is also enemies to lovers. Are we sensing a pattern here?
7. An Invincible Summer (44k) by @twopoppies | Brooklyn_Babylon on ao3
so as you can see this one is only 45k but i just love it so much that i’m rec’ing in anyways. It’s such a gentle, exploratory piece of literal art, and I kind of want to stay in the world that was created forever. Its set in the 1940s on a farm and i know @twopoppies has said that it started off as an excuse for barn sex, but it such a vivid story and its heartbreaking and emotional and uplifting all at once and please please please go read this. The only critique I have of it is that it's only 40k.
8. Somewhere in Between Lightning (99k) by @nauticalleeds, @shiningdistraction, and jassy117 on ao3
So this one's exes-to-lovers as well, and it's written in such a realistic way. Also i’m in love with the concept of louis on love island, despite the fact that he said he hates it. There's a sauna scene that I still think about sometimes. It's got just the right amount of angst and fluff and pining and despite the fact that it's set on a show that is usually pretty dramatic and unrealistic, this is written in a really beautiful but pragmatic way. I love it. i’ve got it downloaded on my phone so I can read little snippets of it sometimes if I have to wait somewhere.
9. You’ve Got My Devotion (Hate You Sometimes) (95k) by @harryrainbows | lucythegoosey on ao3
god so this one incorporates some of Fine Line into it, and wouldn’t say it's a song fic so much as it is written as a canon compliant fic that ties harry’s songs into it and its done so fucking well oh my god. Harry and Louis are exes in this one too (lol i'm sorry) and the build up of them getting together and the pining and longing is written really well.
10. At Risk, I Fold (15k) by @bearmustard | clare328 on ao3
so i know this one is only 15k, but I put this in the list anyways. It's canon compliant, and it does mention the stunts (as stunts), but don’t let that deter you. Harry and Louis are written almost exactly as i’ve imagined them, and this one is such a heartbreaking look into the resilience and love and bravery that they have. It made me cry despite the fact that it’s not really a glum fic. The only reason it is last on the list is because it's shorter and i was mostly intending this to be a long fic rec. The love that they have for each other really shines through in this one, and it’s super gentle and soft and sad and happy all at once and just please go read it.

Tag Games
I'm attempting to catch up on tags. I owe a lot of people a lot of tags, lol. If anyone wants me to chuck some tags your way (mostly word find, a few last line, and a couple random ones) please comment something (like a letter, etc.) on this so that I can see you and throw tags at you :-) You don't have to follow me, or have ever interacted with me, or anything - only prerequisite here is that you want to do some tag games :-)
Queue Nonsense
Because the blog runs on queue a lot of the time, I tend to queue up my responses to tag games. I currently have about 3 weeks worth of stuff queued, which is pretty typical, so the lead time on your thing getting posted is probably about 3 weeks at any given time...this is not ideal, but I don't have a better system yet. I'm trying to have a healthy work-life-tumblr balance and am partially succeeding, but at the cost of things like this, lol. I am open to suggestions if anyone has a better system :-)

If you tag me in something, or message me, or in general interact with me right now, there's a good chance I won't respond right away. I promise, it's not because you're annoying or I don't want to see your stuff! It's just because my writeblr is in a perpetual state of "3 weeks late" and I haven't dug myself out of that hole yet, and I'm active in completely unpredictable spurts. General Life
I survived tech week! And show week! But man, there is a reason we call it "hell week" lol. I am finally recovered from "constant exhaustion," which is why I'm a little more active again :-) I'm still between four buildings at work (school speech pathologist) so my life is still crazy, but I'm attempting to carve out a little more time to write and do writblr things where I'm able :-)

I do use content warnings—like the ones above. The way that I use tags and warnings is a compromise between a few conflicting goals. I want to:
Let people opt out of potentially disturbing content
Avoid spambots
Bypass Tumblr’s bizarre and unpredictable filters, so that people who are actually interested in these posts have a chance of finding them
Leave myself the option of changing my URL without breaking readmore links
It’s not a perfect system, but I think it’s the best given the tradeoffs involved. There are a lot of ways for people to avoid engaging with my meta. They can see the warnings and keep scrolling. They can blacklist the word “incest.” They can block me. (It does occur to me that not everyone knows “CSA” stands for “child sexual abuse,” so I’m happy to start spelling that out.)
Also. Kids, especially young teen girls, are sexually assaulted at much higher rates than adults. The idea that minors need to be shielded from discussions about a very common way that adults hurt minors is baffling to me. Of course there’s a big difference between “Here are some sexual health resources” and the weird psychosexual rabbit holes I’ve been traveling down lately. But like. Kids also deserve art that reflects their experiences! If one survivor sees themself in Marcy—in the picture of Marcy that I’m painting—I’ll consider this project a resounding success.
My horrible Marcy theories are for people who want to read them. Some of those people are probably minors. That's okay.

what’s interesting about this tag ban is that it’s an attempt to censor people’s natural speech on here and it’s going to backfire eventually. and I think this is an issue on any social media platform that attempts censorship, because people are so unpredictable and nuanced and esp on tumblr people are so stubborn that we’re already finding ways to bypass the tagging
But this isn’t going to be enough to actually stop anyone from saying most of these words because people will find a way around it. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a surge of purposeful misspellings and new abbreviations. Tagging is a means of organization, and tumblr is already such a chaotic platform that allows people to use tags to organize. Unlike Twitter, where people abide by the tags, tumblr’s users make tags their bitch. You cant police that without doing away with the entire tagging system.
And I know we’re all blaming Apple right now (rightfully so) but it’s funny that they’re trying enforce on tumblr newer forms of censorship that moderately work on other sites, because tumblr isn’t as new or restrictive as other social media platforms. the same kind of bans don’t work on here
idk I guess what I’m saying is human speech is uncontrollable. Try as they may, people will find a way around it, especially if it’s something they actually believe in
