25. Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?

Silence or with a YouTube vid playing! I have a second monitor so I throw up an episode of buzzfeed unsolved/watcher or a try guys vid (honestly they should thank me for all the ad revenue I give them when I rewatch the same video 5 times without skipping ads because I get distracted by the actual drawing). If there’s like a specific Hamilton song that inspired the drawing then I’ll listen to it on repeat but that can get annoying lmao

26. For digital artists: how many layers does a typical piece require?

AHHH fuck minimum at least 5?? One for sketch, lineart, extra layer of lineart for the parts I want to redo but don’t wanna lose the original in case the redo sucks, colours, and texture or overlay. If I do anything more complicated than that then probably more like 15.

1. Are you named after anyone?

No. My first name was originally going to be my middle name but then my mother heard a nickname for it in the grocery store and hated it so thought of my first name instead. Which is great because I hate my middle name. Also both of my brothers have family names and I'm just like.... picked out of thin air.

2. When was the last time you cried?

My boyfriend makes me cry a lot by being the sweetest and I am not a crier.

3. Do you have kids?

No; the baby factory is closed.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Not as much as I used to. I try to be as genuine as possible nowadays.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

I love looking at people's hair! Colors, textures, styles... I just find them all beautiful and interesting.

6. What’s your eye color?

I have a yellow ring around my pupil, a blue ring around the outside, and they mix together in the middle to make green.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

Scary movies. Sometime happy endings make me mad if they're not earned.

8. Any special talents?

I'm a decent viola player, even though I am years out of practice. My super power is being able to learn new things quickly if I can watch someone else do it first.

9. What are your hobbies?

Writing, reading, learning languages, playing video games, baking, knitting, coloring, gardening, home improvement, swimming, buying clothes online.

10. Where were you born?

Minnesota!

11. Have any pets?

I have two beautiful black cats who are twins (littermates). Their birthday is almost here and they will be 7 years old. They are the best boys and the best brothers.

12. What sports do you play/have you played?

My older brother and father have always been really into sports and I wanted to be like them, so growing up I tried softball, tennis, and golf. I both sucked at and hated all of them. I feel like there were others as well that I can't think of. I did take swimming lessons as a kid, but once it got to learning actually strokes I peaced out, but now swimming is the only "sport" I actually enjoy.

I also took martial arts lessons for about ten years as an adult. It taught me a lot even outside of the physical skills.

13. How tall are you?

5'9"

14. Favorite subject in school?

I always loved English/Language Arts classes. As I got older, arts courses. My senior year of high school I took classes at the college for free and came back to my high school just for Orchestra and Theatre and it was the best.

15. Dream job?

Being retired. Seriously. I just want to not have to work and be able to travel and give time to my hobbies and interests and also do volunteer work.

Fluff prompt: The first time little Dolores said Bruno's name

I love them, your honour 💕

Dolores was a year old. She'd already lisped, "Mamí" and "Papí," and now it seemed that everyone was eager to hear what she'd say next. Would she say the name of an object, or another family member?

"Can you say Abuela?" Alma cooed, poking Dolores's nose. "Hm? Abuela?"

Dolores only squeaked and giggled. Pepa was preparing some lunch for her when Bruno walked into the kitchen. He looked exhausted and there was still a faint emerald shimmer to his eyes.

"You okay, Bruno?" Pepa asked.

"Eh..." He blew a raspberry, ignoring Alma's sighed request to Please act his age.

At the sight of him, Dolores perked up in her high-chair. It was a typical sight; she held out her tiny fists, wriggling eagerly, her eyes bright and her smile wide. She squeaked again and again.

Bruno glanced at Pepa for permission. When Pepa nodded, he lifted Dolores up, cradling her close.

"Hola, mí luz," he said softly. "Have you been good?"

"B'uno!" Dolores cried in delight.

They all froze. Pepa nearly dropped the spoon. Alma stared in surprise, but her expression softened as Dolores once more said, "B'uno!" and tugged on Bruno's hair.

For a moment, Pepa thought her brother was about to start crying. His eyes watered, but his grin was as bright as the rainbow above Pepa's head.

"Yeah," he said as Dolores giggled and rested her little chin on his shoulder. "That's me."

"B'uno," Dolores said again. "Mamí! B'uno!"

"Sí, baby!" Pepa laughed. Her rainbow grew in size and brightness. "That's your Tio Bruno!"

Bruno knew he was short. He was all too aware of it, thanks. He’d never been in denial about it and, most of the time, it didn’t bother him. It was just a fact of life. Both of his sisters were bigger than him, his mamá only ended up shorter than him in her old age; Agustín towered over him and Félix was the same height as him. Many people told him that Pedro had been tall too.

The real insult was that the kids were taller than him.

Frankly, it was the nail in the coffin, the last slap in the face from God Himself, the ultimate evidence that Bruno had terrible luck. Before he vanished, Isabela and Dolores were already well on their way to being taller than him (Isa, at age 12, had nearly been eye-level with him) and God knew Luisa was easily the tallest member of the family.

But Mirabel? His dear, sweet Mirabel, who’d never harm a fly? 

This was injustice.

“I’m disowning you,” Bruno informed her flatly. Just before her sixteenth birthday, she’d hit one last growth spurt and now she was the same height as Julieta. Taller than Bruno.

Thanks for nothing, genetics.

“Sorry, Tio,” Mirabel laughed. She wasn’t sorry at all, the traitor. Camilo lounged against the counter with a smug grin; he was nearly the same height as Agustín now.

At least he looked a lot less smug when Bruno slapped him with a dish towel.

“Ay, come on!” Camilo groaned, rubbing his arm. “It’s not our fault you’re short! Blame Abuela!”

“I do,” Bruno said, nose in the air. “And whichever family member I inherited the short genes from. And Pepa.” He jerked his head at his sister, who was snickering shamelessly. “She definitely stole all the tall genes.”

“Get born faster next time,” Pepa said, patting him on the head.

“That doesn’t even make any sense, Pepa!”

“Your face doesn’t make any sense.”

Bruno’s eyes narrowed. “Your dress is ugly.”

Thunder rumbled. “You take that back!”

“How old are you two again?” Mirabel asked, arms crossed. Camilo was right back to looking unbearably smug.

By that point, Pepa had him in a headlock and Bruno resigned himself to his fate. Everyone in this damn house was taller than him except Félix and Antonio.

Sighing, Bruno glanced at Antonio who was giggling hysterically over their antics. “You won’t get taller than me, right, Tonito?” he asked.

“I’ll try not to!” Antonio said earnestly, eyes big and shiny. Did Bruno mention he’d simply die and kill for that child? Because he would, no hesitation. 

Bless Antonio’s heart, he actually meant that he’d try and stay short. He even asked Félix for tips on how to be short at dinner, which made Félix gape at him wordlessly and the rest of the family (even Alma) burst out laughing.

But Bruno was Bruno. The world had a way of mocking him.

An involuntary vision hit right after dinner; he was dimly aware of someone catching him before he could hit the ground, green took over everything and...

There was a very tall young man, walking by Luisa. He had thick curly hair and a bright, happy grin; round eyes and a gentle disposition. He had a whole pack of animals following him and a jaguar at his side.

Bruno came back to reality and groaned tiredly. For once, it wasn’t because the vision had worn him out.

“Ay, Tonito,” he sighed. “You’re going to betray me, little guy.”

“Oh no!” Antonio’s eyes watered and he grabbed at Bruno, trying to pull him from Julieta’s arms. “Tio, what did I do?”

Bruno looked him dead in the eye. “You’re going to be 6′3″ you not-so-little traitor.”

The triplets doing something at the same time in true creepy triplet fashion

Always open to prompts! The only time I'm not is if the ask box is closed 😁 (And I promise to announce if that's ever the case)

The triplets didn't often do things at the same time, but when they did it was noticeable. It could be downright eerie.

The first instance Mirabel noticed was when Antonio dropped a plate. Thankfully, the plate didn't break, but all three triplets looked up at the exact same time, standing up in tandem and even had the same concerned looks on their faces. For the first time, Mirabel noticed a true resemblance between her mother, aunt and uncle.

But it was only a small thing. Easy to brush off.

However, those little moments kept piling up and up. Only Abuela, Félix and Agustín didn't seem to notice. Meanwhile, the Madrigal kids were all increasingly aware of the "weird triplet thing" and unnerved whenever it happened.

It was weird. How could three separate people, who were all so different, be so in sync?

Another time was when Camilo was starting a water balloon fight. He and Mirabel tip-toed into the garden. The triplets were sitting on the back steps.

Without even turning around, the three of them said, "Don't even think about it."

"How did you know!?" Camilo demanded. He looked as freaked out as Mirabel felt.

It was even weirder when Julieta, Bruno and Pepa turned to face them at the exact same time.

"We know," they said flatly. It was getting ridiculous.

"Knock it off," Mirabel said, tense as a spring.

Julieta's smile was so sweet it verged on openly mocking. "Knock what off, mija?" she asked. She was clearly biting back laughter.

"That!" Mirabel pointed between them. "The weird triplet thing!"

"You're gonna have to clarify," Bruno said, hands clasped and shoulders back in an impression of Abuela. "We do a lot of weird triplet things."

"You keep doing things at the same time," Camilo said, gripping one of the water balloons so tightly that Mirabel was surprised it didn't pop. "And saying things at the same time!"

The triplets looked at each other, eyebrows raised. They shrugged, only further proving the point.

"Eh," Pepa said. "We don't even notice anymore."

"It's weird," Camilo said.

"I think it's sweet," Julieta said, nose in the air.

With an outright mischievous grin, Bruno added; "It's a triplet thing. You wouldn't get it."

Mirabel threw her water balloon, but Bruno ducked, laughing at her. It sailed harmlessly overhead, bursting on the grass. Casita rattled and Mirabel knew the house was laughing at her and Camilo too.

Meet Rikerin Orlyarn!

Race: Drow

Class: Sorcerer

I created him for a one-shot we made for Halloween (which we ended up playing after Christmas), and he's a little gremlim and I love him

I wanted to give him a jester inspired outfit, to go with the extravagant personality he's cultivated since escaping the place he was born at

Below I' putting his palette, some extra doodles, and his backstory

Rikerin, like other males of his species, was born into a noble house as a slave. He was taken from his father young, and doesn’t remember him at all now.

As a teenager, he discovered that the reason he was treated in a worse way than others was because he was born a sorcerer, and the matron of his house was keeping his magic locked up to keep him under control, after the blocker broke when, in desperation, he lashed out at a Drow who was hurting him, accidently killing her.

Using his newly discovered, wild powers, besides the fear of death for killing one of his superiors, Rin managed to fight his way to the surface, where he escaped his pursuers by pushing throught the sunlight until he reached a forest, where he began living. It was at that time that the god Vhaeraun talked to him through dreams, promising him power and honour if he helped the god kill the goddess Loth, and as such create a world where all Drows could live as equals.

Inspired by the suffering of his past, - and a growing desire to become ever more powerful - Rikerin accepted the god's offer and recieved frim him a weapon to help him with his task - the scyth Godslasher. The young Drow began training to better his control over his powers and his new weapon, to end Loth's tiranny and allowing Vhaeraun to become the god of all Drows - with him right besides the god as the one who made it possible.
