I've been fiddling around with the ruleset I want for the Trihorn RPG and it could all be sooooo much simpler. But not without taking away the fundamental things I want to cram together into it.

I fundamentally want in the basic rules:

Devil Dice from Dust Devils or Beast Dice from V:tM, same basic principle, roll better for a cost of possibly doing something monstrously awful.

Adrenaline, Heart Rate from Lacuna. There's an escalation of how well you're doing but it can backfire and give you a heart attack. I've been tying it to the dice. The higher you go the better you roll and the more Bad Dice you get. It makes you roll Devil Dice, not just simply giving you the option.

Target Range, essentially the same as an oracle: results yield Catastrophic No, No And, No, No But, Yes But, Yes, Yes And, Catastrophic Yes.

Damage as Usage Die from Black Hack. The more damage someone takes, the less well they can roll, automatically.

Backgrounds from 13th Age but those actually seem to work fine so far.

But trying to stack all those together keeps getting so messy.

reading xie lian’s POV is actually hilarious once you realise xie lian isn’t oblivious at all, he basically guesses most things immediately, he’s just taken the veteran autism tactic of “it’s too much effort to figure out when it’s appropriate to mention that i know something, so i’ll just pretend i don’t know until someone says it aloud”. sometimes it turns into a bit. the truth might be embarrassingly obvious, but social cues are hard, and xie lian has infinite time to wait for the other person to blink first.

i guess it is a given that i am probably not an average or standard user of websites but whenever tumblr staff says something about the website being hard to use, or refusing to let us have options to turn something on/off in the menu because "it's adding bloat and too many complicated options for new users" i just get so confused. like what?

i love settings. i love little toggleable sliders. the first thing i do whenever i get any account or device is go into the options to make it exactly how i like. i spent 2 hours setting up my firefox to perfection. i have memorized and examined every tumblr feature multiple times. getting a new phone or laptop is like a fun 2 week long process of arranging settings and personalization and notifications. it baffles me that tumblr wants to REMOVE options. i love options!!

I finally have some free time to draw sketches and tell you about my headcannons with (young) Harvey and Dr. Stone!! 💥💥

The first headcanon: Harvey really likes to touch Stone's funny sticking-out hair with his antennae (I have no idea what to call it lol). OF COURSE, Dr. Stone gets angry, and Harvey just giggles and watches him—

The second headcanon: I thought it would be funny if Dr. Stone had (and maybe still has) a secret hobby of collecting minerals and stones. it's pretty funny that a sullen and angry dude collects and examines all sorts of stones, and then writes something in his book, muttering something under his nose. if Harvey somehow found out about his husband's hobby, he could throw him beautiful stones while he was going somewhere.

The third headcanon: Harvey loves hugging Dr. Stone very much, when he does this, this old fart immediately starts to get angry and swear, but after 15-20 minutes calms down and falls asleep. maybe Harvey does this on purpose so that his husband at least sometimes gets a full sleep

godddd cellbits recurring motif of "i cant. ive tried." whenever someone tells him not to lose himself, both the bad and the good is so.. the implication of a perpetual fruitless spiral of turning man to monster and monster to man, and failing at both because loves too deeply and instinct is ingrained into him deeper than the carvings in his knife. he cant fucking stand himself. he can't stand how he can't be normal and has to rely on drinking copius amounts of coffee to stay awake enough to not lose it. he can't stand how even in the depths of his desire for vengeance, he hears the pain in his loved ones' voices and still stops to listen. these two parts of him have to be incongruous, because he knows he was happier when he was one without the other. and yet, time and time again the people who care about him tell him not to lose himself like they view him as whole. and again and again, he tells them that he can't. because he's tried to break himself in half and it doesnt fucking work like that. and he'll continue until he destroys himself because hes fucking Tired of being whole.

Hinil "Cookie" Zadeparimid Mashapazi has a strikingly deep and craggy voice. As she smokes like a train chimney it’s easy to think that’s where it comes from. She was never one of those lean, tall, and wiry fighter types. She is a bit on the short, plump, and cherubic side. She just doesn’t mind mashing her fats when she gets in a situation. She’s 36 years old but has gone gray early. Along with her voice, that makes it easy to mistake Hinil for an older woman.

So I think this will make a pretty good avatar for my Tri-Poke Character. I want her to be a bit of a clothes horse, (from "-1 xp, Fancy Dresser, Hinil still dresses in robes appropriate for the Punisere but in honor of her commitment she tends to wear bright and gaudy colors, making her very not camoflauged.") but I picture her liking green and purple so it should work. I like her mostly for the smile, that looks like a woman who fits: "-1 xp, Oddity, Hinil is a bit of an odd duck beyond just being a fish out of water, she tends to say and do things that seem just a little off and will slightly misinterpret social cues. It doesn’t help that she thinks she’s funny."

I'm going to have her be the cook for whichever group ends up the PC group (I'm planning on there being three choices - with one being most likely). I figure she finds it easy to pick up Cooking work since I gave her 1 xp, Good Cook.

I read Beowulf for a class and for some reason I cant stop thinking about Dragon!Bill, clever and ancient, guarding a hoard... bored to tears. Is Dipper a serf trying to steal gold to buy his own freedom? Or does his accidentally stumble in, trying to hide after being accused of witchcraft? Has he been sent as a sacrifice?
