The fact that so many people are less willing to believe spiderverse gwen stacy is trans and more willing to believe that her peter, who got so bullied it ended up killing him, was is. Like it's not bad i guess but it's. It's something alright

AHHH!!! Hiiii!!! (@my-writblr here)! I saw where you reblogged my WIPs! Thanks :D
I just saw your introduction post where you share you were a transman. (I'm agendered! Not quite the same, so I wanted to ask two questions. Feel free to ignore this if you don't want to answer! Nooooo pressure or expectation!)
I'm writing a transman character and while he does end up coming out to his crush, the crush is like "I'm so sorry you felt like you had to come out to me! I should have been a safe place for you where you didn't feel the need." And is just generally supportive, but also I don't want her [the crush] to make it about her. I want it to be a mutual "Oh hey this is something I want you to know about me" and a "Oh!" moment.
I kind of *do* set it up to be a stomach drop moment where you think for like three words of her sentence she isn't going to be supportive but it's really just her feeling like a bad friend for worrying that she wasn't a safe space to be. But I want it to quickly turn around where it's a "Wait you're not upset I'm trans?" and she's like "Never in a million years!" SO Question 1: So does that sound like an okay scene (asking as a writer as well)? Or is it too cliche? It's not the big climax of the story or anything. It happens within the first half of the book. It's just another "secret" being uncovered between these two (The Crush being an ace and The Transman being aro and they still have a mutually beneficial relationship with a third member in a polyamorous triangle.)
Question 2: What are some things as a transman you want to see in transmale characters? Any do's/don'ts?
Thank you for the ask!
Let me give some more information about me before I answer those, as my answers may differ from another transman's answers. I also believe that a few of my mutuals are also transmasculine and I invite them to reblog this with their answers to this question as well. :D
I'm a closeted transman in my 30's who hasn't transitioned due to finances and health problems. I'm currently more financially stable, but the city I live in is very conservative and there is a real chance I'd lose my job should I start. I'm very open online but guarded in meatspace about it. However, non-professional friends tend to know so I haven't had to "come out" to a partner since they already know who I am, essentially.
I'm also an inclusionist, community-wise. This means that I see that the breadth, depth, hue, and intensity of human emotion is so vast that our language fails to accurately capture it. Also that the function of labels function better to find people similar to ourselves. I'm not one for discourse so take what I'm saying here as my experience, what I've read, and etc.
As to my answers:
Question 1: The scene seems fine to me since it's not a main plot point and seems to function as a way to inform the reader. If the focus is on the interpersonal side of things, I don't see a lot of writers handle the afterwards of coming out often. Even the most open-minded ally tends to have some preconceived notions. This means there's a growing period afterwards where both people learn how to deal with the knowledge: the cis person figures out pronouns, names, how to be respectful, etc. and the trans person figures out how to navigate helping someone else figure them out (it's very awkward! And rather unavoidable.) This is true for polyamory as well-people take a minute to learn and that is okay.
Also, people do tend to "make things about themselves." It is an inherent part to how we relate with each other. We tend to give-and-take in discussion. She should just avoid talking over him and engage with what he's saying along with whatever she has to say. I would definitely include why he wouldn't feel comfortable coming out to her prior to that, whether it's something she's said, it's purely a personal issue, etc. Question 2: Transpeople are like any other minority: not a hivemind where everyone agrees on what is proper. As long as you make a fully-fledged character that isn't a carbon-copy of a negative stereotype, I can at least take a story in good faith. (As an aside, there's been a rash of transandrophobia on Tumblr that makes for a great "what does hate against transmen look like. It can be found in transandrophobia tags and other places. Obvious cw and tw for transphobia.)
Honestly, the way I make trans characters is make a character then later go "Ah, they're trans."
I'm finding it difficult to put into words, but two things I'd avoid are transmen characters that are a little too uwu too cute and pure bean for this world and like transmen who transition explicitly to avoid misogyny. These simultaneously infantilizes and fetishizes us or turns us into horrid cudgel for terf rhetoric.
Something I wish more people would show in trans-media in general is a focus on gender euphoria versus dysphoria. The utter giddiness of getting to do something that actually feels right after feeling wrong or neutral for so long. It can be something as small as a shirt that fits right or getting the first hint of a beard or something more typical like cutting off long hair or getting the first binder and so forth. Being trans isn't a tragedy, there is a lot of joy in it too.

Tw: transphobia
Don't compare trans peoples' voices. Don't do that. I understand where you come from with a compliment like 'Your voice sounds great, much better than how xyz sounds' but don't do that!
That is not a compliment. It's transphobia. You don't compliment me by criticizing another like that. It's just plain rude.

is weird that the worst cases of overt trasphobia that i have experienced in my life are from children. and i dont mean it in a "kids say the darnest things" way. i mean having a bunch of 11 year olds call me faggot or teens mockingly ask me if im a guy or a girl.

tw trasphobia, harassment
right so last week i bought an antfia tote and today a friend and I were on our way to the park and these two dudes walked up behind us and started loudly at us about the "fucking Antifa", insulted as as "Zecken"(which is an insult of punks in germany), how they were going to "get us", that we're trannies and that animals like us should get gassed. so yea another great day in germany

I remember when I first started hanging out in online spaces there was a phrase that people would say which is "don't feed the trolls". I think its something that people should start saying again.
With the recent controversy over hogwarts legacy I've seen a huge amount of people leaving provocative comments on posts talking about the antisemitism and trasphobia that are clearly trying to start an argument. And people argue with them. The trolls want an argument they want to make you waste your time getting angry and upset.
If you see comments like this just block and ignore the poster. You cannot convince them that they are wrong. You cannot win the argument because they don't care about winning the argument they just want you to have a bad time.
Don't feed the trolls

With the rise in trasphobia, I am a little bit offended that no one has lashed out at me over my pittiful attempt at growing a mustache.
Yeah, the hair on my lip is platinum blond, but still. I worked hard to grow it out with this much without any HRT. Could at least get a lil acknowledgment for my efforts. Especially when I go outside in my binder and Dad Outfit.
Instead, random assholes still see me as a fucking woman.

callout for sucklet (@\xching1969) and cinder fall sex haver (@/moonchemistwy) for evil malicious bad person behavior
both of these individuals have been up to some nefarious deeds as of late, and it is sickening to see other people not stricking down these foul individuals despite their behavior.
i am here to bring the word of the Truth to all ye who witness, that these two beings have done suchs things as:
impersonation, blackmail, bribery, trasphobia, treason, threatening my good being, ruining the livelihood of hard working men, merging, stealing art or falsely claiming other people’s art as their own, threats, autistic, gross disregard for others hyperfixations, and not limited to these (etc)
i am certain that these two (or soon to be one) will quickly retailate against me and attempt to make it out that i am making false claims about their person(s) despite the fact that i have much evidence to prove that THEY have been doing these horrible things and thinking they are about the consequences. just because you have two minds within one body does not mean that you can’t be held accountable for your previous individual bodies’ actions.
screenshots below cut:
sucklet has been nonstop constantly trying to make me paranoid and convince me i am going to be doxxed, asking me what i would do if i found my full name and social security number in a surreptitious place
Tumblr media
moonchemistry gaslighting the entire rwby fandom when we were simply here to attempt to have some good fun and yet this is how we are treated? like chunks?
Tumblr media
chem is trying to use their mental illnessi (plural of mental illness) as an excuse for their behavior and to coerce me into doing what they want (in this case not making them a soup because i care about them so much and want to be kind to them despite their repeated harassment of my person)
Tumblr media
this event occurred roughly in the middle of Sucklet’s art theft accusation arc, where it tries to claim that the horny police (alter ego The Shining Diamond) stole its art when her signature is very clearly on the art piece in question. this is an attempt to undermine the talents of other artists in order to boost its own pathetic self view
Tumblr media
cinder fall sex haver berating me in DMs and repeatedly convincing me that they do not care about me
Tumblr media
and these is where sucklet tried to make a lovely delightful little fun RP that they and i had been having into an NSFW rp immediately without prior discussing with me and when i tried to redirect what was happening they just kept godmodding my character into having hot gay sex (it was relaly good but thats besides the point)
Tumblr media
discussion occurring shortly after the reveal of IBSKing!Neo and PCOS!Pregnant!Cinder 🫃
Tumblr media
this is just one example of the first of many times they began attempting to dodge any and all consequences
Tumblr media
sucklet out of NO WHERE fucking CAME AT ME in such a hideous manner when i was trying to sharem y super awesome gene editing program i’m partnered with
Tumblr media
i tried to confront sucklet about its outrageous behavior and it denied that it had done any of these things in the first place, with no evidence to back up any sort of forgery or edited messages or going into discord on the website and using the inspector to change what the messages said or anything of that sort that i would never ever do in my life because i am a nice benevolent good person
Tumblr media
moonchemistry (also known as their alter ego Cinder Fall Sex Haver, and their lesser known alter ego janiel) attemped to take my life today, when they had found out that i was drafting this callout post about them they came to me in DMs and assaulted and battered me. i was scarcely able to escape with my life, and they absconded with most of my evidence folder on them (hence most of the screenshots are about chingx1969 (also known as its alter ego sucky fucky wucky, aka king fucklet, aka sucklet))
Tumblr media
as they are a hivemind, sucklet quickly (instantly) learned the same knowledge as chem and attempted to threaten me at the same time in a pincer attack known as the merger double wombo combo extraordinaire (ver. 2)
Tumblr media
clearly the only thing there is to do about this dangerous individual is to put them down. they have gone too far and are beyond recovery or change. the merging process is nearly complete, and if we do not stop them now they will evolve beyond petty things like mortality.

plese let me know if you can thank you so much
Honestly, I haven’t dealt with a big amount of directed stuff, so I might be the wrong person to ask
But for the stuff I have seen I just kinda remember how far I’ve come and that it’s kinda the reason I’m still here, so it helps tune it out and make me remember I’m valid.
There’s gonna be people who hate you no matter what, just sucks that the terfs are loud and that trans people are the current target.

TW: TRASPHOBIA, ANTI-TRANS LEGISLATION, VENT, DEPRESSION/NUMBNESS
DO NOT CLICK READ MORE IF THESE WILL TRIGGER YOU
I live in the southern US
Where I live there hasn't been ant anti-trans legislation passed, but there also hasn't been any pro-trans legislation. I've had to watch my state slowly get redder and redder on all the legislation trackers. I'm trying to hold out hope but I just feel numb. My city is pretty blue, so that's good. But I still don't feel safe. It's just so scary. And I know that the conservatives can't make trans people disappear forever, that's not possible, I'm just worried about me and my friends. I need to talk to my parents about what we'll do if bad legislation gets passed here, but I just don't have any words. I can't detransition, I just can't. I'd need to move somewhere, but I don't know where. My mom has a store here (which has a lease) and an apartment (which has a lease) and she doesn't have enough money to move right now. My dad could move but I don't know if he would listen in time if things really started getting bad here. I just don't know what to do. If you stuck around this long, thanks for listening, and if you don't mind could you send me something that'll make me feel better every once in a while? My interests are fungus, plants, jumping spiders, and cats. Mostly fungus. Thanks again for listening.
