Translator’s note: This CD added three days to my lifespan with how absolutely ADORABLE Subaru is. ;w; I love it when he gets super excited about coffins and such, haha. That being said, Ayato and Yuma were hilarious in this CD as well. I loved how they all work together in the end to make what is probably the strangest coffin in all of human and Vampire history. xD

Ayato: …Goddamnit, Reiji. Can he just stop complainin’ ‘bout every single damn thing? I’m not the only one whose room is a mess! It’s my room so it can be as messy as I want it to be, right? …Huh?

Ayato suddenly comes to a halt.

Ayato: Is that…?

Subaru: …

Ayato approaches Subaru.

Ayato: Oi, Subaru! Whatcha doin’ over here? …It doesn’t happen every day that Mr. Shut-In leaves his room.

*Rustle*

Subaru: Shut up!! It’s none of your fuckin’ business, is it!? I’m busy right now so leave me alone!

Ayato: Busy? All you’re doin’ is lookin’ inside some store. …Ah?

*Rustle*

Ayato: What’s this?

Subaru: Can’t you tell? It’s a customizable coffin.

Ayato: Oh. Now that you mention it, it does have these weird decorations on it. …Oh! Are those different kinds of sweets and candy on top? Interestin’!

Subaru: You like that overly cutesy one? The one on the far right is obviously the coolest!

Ayato: Hah? The one with the black wings? …Also could they have fit on any more skulls? It’s way too much.

Yuma approaches them.

Yuma: …Aah? If it isn’t the Loudmouth and the Shut-In. What brings ya two here?

Ayato: Subaru wants to decorate his coffin, apparently.

Yuma: Decorate? Is that the sorta thing you’re into mate?

Subaru: I’m not…!! I never said I’d actually do it, did I!?

Ayato: But you’ve been lookin’ at this even way before I came here, right? I bet you actually want to give it a try.

Subaru: …!! W-Well…

Yuma: Heeh…Well, check it out! It says that right now, ya can put on as many ornaments as ya can fit on there!

Subaru: …

Ayato: If you’re too scared to go inside by yourself, I can come with you? I’ll even help you pick out some stuff! I’ll sniff out the real cool stuff!

Subaru: …I can only see this endin’ badly.

Yuma: In that case, I’ll tag along too! Let’s make a coffin that would turn anyone into a shut-in. (1)

Subaru: You guys are makin’ fun of me, aren’t you? Besides, aren’t you outside for a reason as well!?

Yuma: Yeah. I’m on my way to buy stuff for tonight’s dinner. But I still have plenty time, so it should be fine.

Ayato: I only left the house to escape from Reiji’s ramblin’. …Come on, let’s go inside already.

*Rustle*

Subaru: …Hey!

Ayato: You grab his other arm, Yuma.

Yuma: Gotcha.

*Rustle*

Subaru: …! Ugh…!

Ayato: Don’t worry. You’ll be cryin’ tears of joy by the end.

Yuma: Exactly. Leave it to us!

They drag Subaru inside the store.

Subaru: As if…!! Why do I have to do this with you two fuckers anyway…!? I can already tell you’re goin’ to turn it into some kind of weird shit…!! …So stop pulling me…!!

*TIMESKIP*

Ayato: Oh…They’ve got so many decorations to choose from. Wow.

Subaru: Aren’t their coffins a lil’ too big as well? This is pretty much twice the size of my current one.

Yuma: You’ve got a point. This doesn’t look like it’s meant for one person.

Ayato: What are you sayin’? Not only does it give you more space to work with, but it’ll obviously be more comfortable to sleep in as well!

Yuma: Is that how it works?

Subaru: Che…I can’t keep up with you idiots any longer. I’m goin’ home.

Ayato: That kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it? …Let me see…Oh! What do you think ‘bout this one?

*Rustle*

Yuma: Ah! Why a huge cross out of all things!? Ya really think this guy will like that?

Ayato: Ah…? I guess you’re right, it’s kinda creepy. Oi, Subaru. Let’s go for somethin’ else after aーー

Ayato & Yuma: Haah…!?

Subaru: I should probably put this one on the lid. Also…It’d look even better by adding a pair of bat wings. …Wait, no! The dragon wings are kind of temptin’ too…

Subaru: Oi, you guys should bring me some decorations too. If they’re good, I’ll even use them.

Ayato: That arrogant tone pisses me off, but seems like he finally got in the mood. …Let’s do this. I’ll put on some weird shit and turn it into the lamest coffin ever seen. Hehe…

Yuma: I mean, I guess this is a decent way to kill some time, so count me in.

Subaru: What are you two whisperin’ ‘bout?

Ayato: Nothin’! I’ll go fetch somethin’ that’ll blow you out of your socks, so just you wait!

Yuma: You just stick to bein’ your usually loner self and have fun decoratin’ ‘kay?

Subaru: …Okay. This should do for the lid.

Ayato: Oi, Subaru! Check this one out…!!

*Rustle*

Subaru: Ah? What? Also, what took you so damn long!? I’m pretty much done except for the sidーー …Wait, that’s…

Ayato: It’s a mini-sized takoyaki grill! If you put this on your coffin, you’ll be able to enjoy takoyaki all while livin’ the loner life! Isn’t that amazing!?

Subaru: Hard pass! Besides, if I start grillin’ takoyaki inside my coffin, I won’t be able to sleep from the stench afterwards, will I?

Ayato: Haah? But it’s the best smell in the world…? You really don’t get it.

Subaru: I’m pretty sure you’re the only person in this world who feels that way.

Ayato: Fine then. Guess I’ll have to make do with this one instead…

*Rustle rustle*

Subaru: …Please don’t tell me that round thing is a takoyaki.

Ayato: Huh? Are you really that stupid? What else does it look like to you? Well, it’s only a decoration and not the real thing though.

Subaru: But why!? You’re the only person who’d be happy havin’ that thing on their coffin!

Ayato: You already rejected the takoyaki grill so at least let me have this? You’re really provin’ the point that the youngest child is always the most selfish one.

Yuma walks up to them.

Yuma: Are ya’ll havin’ an argument again? Ya never grow tired of that, do ya?

Subaru: We’re not! It’s just Ayato’s who’s tryin’ to put stupid shit on my coffin!

Ayato: Ah…? Maybe you should stop shootin’ down all of my suggestions!

Yuma: Oh come on, lay it off. You’re causin’ issues for the store. …Anyway, I brought some stuff with me.

*Rustle*

Ayato: Let me see…

Ayato: Carrots, peppers, eggplant and cabbage…These are all vegetables, aren’t they?

Yuma: Gotta get those greens in. Works wonders for yer health.

Subaru: No but…Those are not somethin’ you’d put on a coffin, right?

Yuma: Nah, don’t worry. They’re all just incredibly well-made replicas.

Ayato: Heeh, these as well? After seeing the takoyaki from earlier as well, I have to say that they really upped their replica game.

Subaru: That’s not the issue…!! What I’m tryin’ to say is that these don’t fit the aesthetic at all!

Yuma: Hah…? You are in no position to judge, are you!? The fuck did you do to this coffin?

Ayato: Geh…! Now that you mention it, Subaru’s creation is…on a whole different level.

Yuma: Skulls and crows…Ah? And are those thorny vines and snakes running across?

Ayato: And can we also mention the really creepy face in the middle? Is that a monster of some sort?

Subaru: Take a proper look! It’s a devil! Can’t you see its horns?

Ayato: Do devils have horns?

Yuma: Beats me. …Or rather, why would a Vampire put that on their coffin?

Subaru: I just thought the design looked cool, that’s all.

Ayato: Then these spider web-like patterns were done on purpose too?

Subaru: Obviously.

Yuma: I don’t get it.

Ayato: I don’t even want to understand.

Yuma: Guess I have no other choice but to fix it up for ya a lil’...

Subaru: Oi! Don’t be changin’ the composition without my permission!

Yuma: Oh come on, just watch.

Yuma: Ah! I kind of like it!

Subaru: Say, don’t you think the eggplant would fit well with the color palette as well?

Ayato: It’s purple after all! Why don’t you try wrapping one of those chains around it?

Subaru: …Not bad.

Ayato: Let’s add a basketball while we’re at it as well. See? It looks good with a crown of thorns placed on top of it.

Yuma: In that case…The cabbage should go inside the skull, right?

Subaru: No, wait. Tomatoes would work way better.

Yuma: I’d say we go for cherry tomatoes then. It’d look way better if we stuff a bunch of them inside.

Subaru: Yuma, you…You’re a genius!

Ayato: Oi, Subaru. We need somethin’ big which really stands out.

Subaru: Ah, now that you mention it…I saw a spider ornament with really long legs earlier. It didn’t click with me earlier, but it might actually improve the overall design! I’ll go get it!

Ayato: Yeah! We’ll decorate some of the other empty spaces while you’re gone.

Yuma: Hurry up, ‘kay?

Subaru: Kuh…Don’t mess it up!

Subaru runs off.

*Rustle*

Subaru: …It’s perfect!

Ayato: Yeah! We created a true masterpiece!

Yuma: We didn’t skimp on the details after all.

Subaru: I was kind of worried for a sec…But I never thought the end result would be this good!

Ayato: That’s all thanks to my help.

Yuma: What are ya sayin’? I’m the one who did such a great job with the composition.

Subaru: Hah…? We were able to achieve this result because I did the lid first.

Ayato: Excuse me!?

Subaru: Got a problem, huh!?

Yuma: For the millionth time, don’t start fightin’ inside the store! …Anyway, don’t we need to square up now?

Subaru: Ah, right…

Ayato: I hope you’re not gonna tell us you don’t have any money.

Subaru: Hah? Of course I do!

Subaru walks to the counter.

Yuma: Anyway, how much does one of these cost?

Ayato: Hah? Didn’t you say that there’s an all-you-can-fit deal? You must have seen the price then, no?

Yuma: Nah, I didn’t pay attention to that.

Subaru: (muffled) ーー Haah!? Are you fuckin’ kiddin’ me!?

Ayato: …!? What’s that guy’s problem? Why is he shoutin’ out of nowhere?

Yuma: Should we go take a look?

Ayato and Yuma walk up to him.

Ayato: Oi, what’s up?

Yuma: Did ya forget yer wallet?

Subaru: I didn’t! But look at the damn total!

Yuma: The price? …Ahー It’s surprisingly…expensive, huh?

Subaru: I don’t have nearly enough money on me.

Yuma: I’ve only got some small change as well. …I mean, there’s the money Ruki gave me to buy food butーー If I use that, my head will be on the choppin’ block…

Ayato: Oh geez, guess I have no other choice. I can easily pay this mu…

*Rustle*

Ayato: Hm…?

Subaru: Ayato…

Ayato: Now that you mention it, I didn’t bring my wallet with me.

Yuma: First ya talk all big and now this!?

Subaru: Or rather…If my pocket money isn’t nearly enough, I doubt addin’ yours to it will make much of a different.

Ayato: Ahーah. We put so much time and effort into it as well.

Yuma: We should have probably checked the price tag first.

Subaru: Haah…My coffin…I’ve decided! I’ll start a part-time job at this store and one day that coffin shall be mine!

Yuma: Haah!? What are ya sayin’...!?

Ayato: It’s not worth goin’ that for, is it?

Subaru: Right! You two should come work here with me as well. I’ll go have a word with the manager, so stay right here, ‘kay!?

For you and anyone wondering, yes! A lot of characters have great themes, though those I showed in the zenki soukoku post are just soundtrack from the anime. They blend in really well so theyre not too noticeable. If you look up the rest of the OSTs, you can find:

Akutagawa's (rashomon's theme) ; Atsushi ( personal fave ) ; Ranpo ; Francis/The Guild ; the WereTiger ; Kyouka ; Kajii Motojiro (personal fave) ; Armed Detective Agency ; Lupin bar ; and many more.

Also, aside from the anime soundtrack, there are ACTUAL character songs ! Sung by a small part of the cast, find them here. Personal faves are Ranpo's, Atsushi's and Kenji's.

I'm very keen on anime soundtrack and especially Japanese Seiyuus, if you're looking for a specific VA, OST, or would like to hear more songs sung by the BSD cast, dont hesitate to shoot me a message/ask if you need me to link anything. I wanted to write a proper response to the Japanese anon who spent a lot of time consolidating some points from a Japanese reviewer into English. It was clearly a lot of hard work and I wanted to spend the time expanding on those thoughts properly.

The reviewer has maintained a blog to criticize the mistakes and issues in the fodolan series since launch but did so out of love. The reviewer’s stance is that Musou storyline totally butchers the spirit and integrity of Houses. Self-described as a lore purist who at least enjoyed being able to ”fill in the blanks” for everything left unsaid in Houses. Musou introduces a lot of information that is contradictory to established canon such as House Bergliez with its crest of cichol, Kronya’s attitude being the first sign of something wrong instead of that being Monica’s true personality. Monica herself is controversial, she’s seen as good yuri fanservice and a loyal vassal but others dislike how she is now part of ”the Emperor’s loyal court” (Hubert, Dorothea, now Monica follow Edelgard to praise her constantly).

Agreed, this is clearly a retcon or a mistake.

Kronya’s attitude being the first sign of something wrong instead of that being Monica’s true personality

Also agreed, if you compare the two there is really very little difference. It’s a bit odd to be sure.

Yeah, Monica kinda sucks. She’s really annoying and not much fun. It’s just constant “Edelgard is so wonderful!”

Arval as the antithesis to Sothis went nowhere, was ultimately not considered of much interest by the fans.

Yup. Arval being Sothis’ antithesis is basically worthless here. There is no grand ending where they face off. Arval just turns out to be some ancient AI for a Slither office worker who was big mad at being defeated. So silly. Wasted effort.

Sothis having her memories but no interactions with her children and Rhea angered many people. The reviewer notes they also made her sound crueler and haughtier in English

Sothis having no meaningful interaction with the Nabateans was stupid, but I have a guess to why. It’s to not villainize Edelgard, because if the truth is known, it would be clear that she was totally in the wrong.

Now...

I’m going to talk about it here, although the reviewer will make multiple comments about the English community in general.

But....

The reviewer has an unhealthy fixation on the English fandom. A lot of blame on English speakers is placed in this review, some of which I agree with and some of which I find to be quite ridiculous. Here are all the comments the reviewer makes on the English-speaking fandom:

The reviewer notes they also made her (Sothis) sound crueler and haughtier in English

More suspicions, now towards Westerners. The reviewer notes the large size of the English speaking fandom…as well as the strange changes made for the international releases of previous FE titles (censored cg art and dialogue in Awakening, censored dialogue in Fates plus the LGBT controversy). There are concerns that the development team took to heart too many complaints over previous games’ characters, writing, settings, scenarios.

Reviewer casts aspersions over English fandom as vulgar yet strangely puritanical, constantly given to fighting, not tagging properly, the frequent interactions between fans and seiyuu so casually on social media, and generally being an unpleasant space to be in

Reviewer embedded several tweets from a few prominent English speaker FE fans showing…bad behavior basically.

The reviewer then compared them to other events like an asian fanartist who drew a Disney’s Encanto fanart being run off twitter because of perceived issues in skin coloration. They also pointed to reddit and 4chan as further evidence of bad behavior and made an explicit comparison to calling it “otaku behavior” and hoping they’re wrong about their feedback suspicions

The reviewer is pessimistic however as they explain about complaints that Fates got a Golden Route while Houses did not, and that it seems prominent in foreign fandom as a desire

“We as players understood that taking the hand of Emperor, clad in red, and wearing horns, whose own tragedy was working with the shadows while lying to Byleth (Jpn writes them together as Beretoresu since they actually share a name overseas), and as shown in the Safflower route’s ending illustration as the dark route, was meant mostly as a pleasant delusion (the term used for headcanon) and a particular fanservice. There seems to be no such distinction for foreigners.”

Rhea is considered a lord in that she represents another faction, the Church. Rhea is quite popular in Japan and her treatment in the game is seen as insulting. Her motherly concern for Cyril’s safety is touching, but does not negate the strangeness of sacrificing herself for Edelgard against Thales, or (worse) Claude killing her. The reviewer brings up the apparent fact of the English voice director’s dislike of Rhea and his instructions for her English seiyuu to sound more harsh, violent, not as serene or dignified as in Japanese (circling back to concerns over Western involvement)

The reviewer cites more suspicions and points to how Byleth is popular in Japan, but their research across English social media shows a lot of hatred for Byleth. ”Perhaps an English speaking fan wrote this game.”

That is a lot of blame on foreign fans when I don’t think it’s fully fair. Yes, the English fandom is crazy, and cruel, and inappropriate. They are generally unpleasant places to be in. I agree with that part. Especially running twitter artists off the platform due to skin tone issues.

However, some of these aren’t even the fandom’s fault, such as the censoring of CGs - that is the fault of the NoA’s censorship at the time (and many fans complained about that censoring).

Some of these, like calling Sothis more cruel in English, doesn’t actually affect the Japanese enjoyment of the game, and I’m not sure why the reviewer even brought it up.

And let’s be honest, they did not write Byleth out of the game just because the English fanbase disliked them. I find that very hard to believe. It sounds like the reviewer just wants to blame someone for their favorite franchise being ruined.

I get the sentiment because I feel like Zelda has been more and more ruined, but at the end of the day, it’s the fault of the devs, not the fanbase.

Even the blame that Edelgard’s route as a bad end sailing over the heads off the English fanbase seems silly when I have seen Japanese fan think that it’s a good end, just as much as English speakers do.

It is no surprise to me that Japanese fans blame Westerners for problems, and some of it may be justified, but this is... a lot.

Shez is a fun and likeable character, though fans ultimately care more about the established cast.

Well, I agree, mostly. Shez is.... alright. At least likeable. But the established cast is where it is at.

Eyebrows were raised over why pertinent lore the game wants players to consider canon is now suddenly in a Musou spin off instead of the main game. Suspicions were raised over Kusakihara and Iwata as the main scenario planners (this is the term general used for those in charge of the story scripts): is this the story they originally meant to tell, but couldn’t because of the rush to finish the deadline [in 2019]?

Further suspicions over the Nintendo Life/Famitsu interviews confirming the canonicity of both, which is unheard of for any Musou spinoff. Musou is meant first and foremost as a purely fanservice vehicle, and it’s how people buy those games at all

Agreed. A lot of this lore should not have come from a musou. It’s silly. And for it to be considered CANON?!

Was it because of the rush though? I don’t think so. There is still a LOT of important lore missing here. A LOT. I think it’s more than just because it was a rush. It’s also just that... the devs want that stuff to be a secret.

The review is then divided into critiquing each lord in Musou:

Edelgard’s tragic side is stripped to make her into a full-blooded Red Emperor character. This comes across as unpleasant since the reviewer feels like the scenario team is trying to trick the players with fanservice (her outfit is very youthful and cute) when it does not mesh well with her blatant agenda of conquest. In Houses at least players understood her goals as contradicting her image when she was dressed more like an adult, and had Amyr, with its menacing looks and movements. There is a great deal of confusion over why she wants to keep Rhea alive this time, yet still greatly hates the church. Her ending was nonsensical and unsatisfying and there was no reason for the Hegemon form to make an appearance

I don’t know, she seems... pretty nice here, compared to her Houses counterpart. I actually find her less of a full-blooded Red Emperor with how much the game tries to give her a moral high ground. Nearly everyone agrees with her to SOME capacity, which cannot be said for in Houses.

And they always tried to make her cute. Just look at her cipher cards. Butt shots, looking pure and youthful, PJs and surrounded by flowers. Even in FEH they had her stand among all the lords, as if she is equally a heroic lord as they are.

We know she’s meant to be the Red Emperor but there has always been a dissonance, even in Houses.

I do agree, though, with the confusion about WHY she wants to keep Rhea alive so badly. It... doesn’t make any sense.

Claude. Goodness. The reviewer is incensed. Claude’s curiosity, wanting more knowledge, to learn the truth behind things, they’re gone here. His attitude towards the Kingdom comes across as condescending. He is called a hypocrite more than once. Though showing him having doubts, and expressing fears over his vulnerabilities is good, that’s negated when his actions only invite more disaster, and his worries look more like self-pity when he’s unhappy one moment, and then coldly executing another assault against the Kingdom the next. The Sreng invasion is particularly used to lambast him. There is no reason why his mistrust suddenly allows him to swallow Edelgard lying to his face or why he is suddenly so against the Church

Shahid is wasted when Claude is then shoved back into Fodla’s war. The reviewer snidely recommended watching The Lion King for better family conflicts over a throne.

Nothing to add here, I completely agree.

Dimitri, written surprisingly well. His arc is of a noble young king coming into his own, his friends are just as brave and amazing next to him. Unfortunately his route starts to falter in the middle, since it does not know how to strike a balance between suddenly knowing about Those Whoe Slither in the Dark and the Empire invading when both are now separately working. The powerful pathos of fighting against the girl who was once his family (and betrayed him) is gone, so it just seems like Marth fighting Hardin again. His redemption in Houses was one of the most popular things about him, and that is also gone too in Hopes…so taking both previous things into account makes Edelgard as part of his final fight seem very forced. “This is a king who is resigned to being a king, who will sadly be glad to kill his phantom, and say that his happiest moment will be on his deathbead, instead of living for his people.” Him not reaching a hand out to a helpless Edelgard is seen as cold.

I can see why these would be issues, yeah. But mostly, better received than the other two lords, at least. Nothing to add at this time, really.

Here is Byleth’s section. It is the bleakest part of the review so far and honestly made me feel really bad:

”The box art shows Byleth quite prominently, which is laughable considering her (reviewer played as Beresu for two routes and Bereto in one) almost non-existence in the story itself. The so-called rivalry pushed in [commercials and promotional work] was nothing more than an audacious lie designed to part us from nearly ¥6000 (reviewer purchased the LE box).”

The reviewer goes on to note Byleth’s high popularity and how it contradicts the magazine interviews acknowledging this. ”Is this how a [fan-favorite] is treated in other spinoffs? I can’t imagine this happening to characters like [Persona Five’s] Joker without angering fans.”

Byleth is seen as uniquely a target of particular scorn from Iwata considering their position in the game: recruiting them can be difficult and easily missed, and so means seeing Jeralt die painfully again, and absurd yet heart-wrenching retaliatory deaths of other characters. Rodrigue’s death is seen as particularly punishing, especially with dialogue from Felix and Dimitri then calling Byleth a monster and their enemy. Their death is anticlimatic yet also painful, and this level of death also unheard of for what is supposed to be a fanservice genre of games, nevermind for the former main character! In supports Jeralt laughs at the idea of Byleth becoming a teacher and calls them unqualified and Leonie still hates them.

Even when recruited, they play no further level of involvement in the story, nor do they show up in the fight against Arval that their recruitment unlocks, nor does that change the unsatisfactory route endings in any way.

This also carries on to other routes. If recruited for Edelgard the emperor says she feels drawn to them but nothing comes of it, but if not recruited then it means Claude recruits them and says he wants them to work together even after the war ends, but this results in both dying in Ailel. If recruited for Claude he also says he feels drawn to them but nothing else comes from it.

I know the review blames a lot of English speakers for this because the English fanbase doesn’t really like Byleth but...

Well, Iwata also involved here. The moment they decided to not make this invalidate Houses is when everything went downhill. To explain would take an essay, however.

But I can see how this is very angering to Byleth fans.

The dimitri one is particularly bad. I would like to stress that Dimileth is the most popular ship of Houses and in a popularity poll, Dimiresu scored first place, Dimireto second, with both varieties far outstripping any other ship (no Edelgard ship showed up in the top ten). Dimileth fans are particularly heartbroken

Considering the previous point: it seems like Koei/Iwata want to punish the players for liking Houses and Byleth, and to declare Musou, the new canon. In Musou, though the war continues, no one really dies (except maybe Claude and Rhea and Byleth and one of the other three that Byleth can kill). Nothing really terrible happens like Jeralt dying, the monastery being invaded, Rodrigue dying, Those Who Slither In the Dark are defeated. In contrast, many tragic things happen in Houses permanently for each route.

Considering the previous two points, this is especially heartbreaking for fans of Azure Moon: playing Azure Gleam means Byleth never becomes a teacher, and Dimitri keeps his eye, the whole truth of the Tragedy of Dusca is uncovered, Those Who Slither in the Dark are defeated, Dedue is never separated from Dimitri, Rodrigue and Jeralt stay alive, and so does Claude, Edelgard, and Rhea

Many Dimileth fans say their enjoyment of the ship and Houses is destroyed because they can no longer consciously think of submitting Dimitri, Dedue, Faerghus and the rest of the continent (!) to the sad events of Azure Moon when Azure Gleam clearly shows better fates for them all

Wait, Dimireto is popular? Even though they can’t actually get together in canon? Interesting.

Still....

I can.... sort of see how this might ruin AM. It does seem like the happier route for the BL team overall. There are less deaths of characters like Jeralt and Rodrigue, Dimitri still has his eye, Felix isn’t a bastard, etc. It really does seem like the BL are just... better off.

But are they really?

Dimitri never learns to live for himself. He still has those same demons, no? Is that truly better, or worse?

I don’t know if I would go as far as to say Houses is destroyed... But I can understand the sentiment.

It’s like the writing team got really fucking confused when writing a game that was meant to NOT invalidate Houses.

A large-scale figure of Byleth is planned for release in July and is quite expensive. The reviewer calls it a poor yet expensive consolation for what is seen as the development team spitting in the fans’ eye

Well, let’s see what the future has to bring. There is still the possibility of DLC

The reviewer concluded their blog post by saying that their enjoyment in Houses is shattered. They don’t know who to blame, either Koei or Intelligent Systems, but they know they are working on the next mainline title together, so it likely means they will stop playing Fire Emblem (they apparently started since the first games) if it means not giving KT-Intsys their money

It’s not shattered for me BUT I do understand. Skyward Sword almost single handedly destroyed my love for Zelda.

I would say, they deserve one more chance. But I know where this reviewer is coming from emotionally.

WORD WITH YOUR TAGS BTW I’d take absolutely anything but if it was at all possible I’d love as many seiyuu’s recasted as possible. if they’ve retired or don’t want to them I’d (begrudgingly) accept new VA’s, of course!! but god I can only dream that we could get as many as possible back on board. I just know the one they could not replace (but wouldn’t have to) is Reborn. I’ve seen problems around Chrome’s VA; she was the VA of a Bandori character (Gacha rhythm game) and she had to step back from her role for health reasons (I don’t recall what they are but also she had to play an instrument at physical concerts so she was exerting a lot of energy for the role). I just wanna cling on to as many as possible for nostalgia reasons tbh skdnckcjdj. and you’re right ahhh Hayato’s voice is, I feel, a very core aspect of his character. so I’d hope if they had to replace him, they were super picky about who they choose to properly pull him off. tbh I think the voices of all the characters are very important to them!! ahh I’m rambling my bad but skndkcjc

i'm also hanging on for nostalgia reasons akjsakd i think we all are. i've watched the anime so many times i just can't imagine gokudera's "J U U D A I M E" sounding any different. his voice is so characteristic and recognizable, i link it so much to who gokudera is as a character that it pains me so much to know he most likely could get a new va in the reboot. i can't even imagine who they would cast (granted i'm not into newer anime so) but gokudera in the og anime had his silly moments, and his serious/angry moments, and his voice actor nailed those emotions in him and i just--love him a lot and i wish they can cast someone great for the role. like, if they have to recast the main namimori trio, i can only hope they do the kids right.

the only one that's non-negotiable for me is reborn. reborn and neeko in the role are like, the heart and soul of the khr anime. everyone else--yeah i would be upset but i could live with it.

ESPECIALLY BC most reborn characters have a catchphrase, a running gag, or something they are known for--like gokudera's 10th, yamamoto's laugh, squalo's V O I, lambo's gotta stay calm, mukuro's laugh, hibari's i'll bite you to death--it just goes on and on and on. i feel like any va they choose it's gotta be someone who holds a candle to the original anime. say whatever you want about og khr, but the one thing they got right was the voice acting imo

anygays i'm rambling too askdjal point is, if there is one, i want the khr reboot to be treated with love and attention.

To be fair, this was already semi-active (?) with my rants and writing pieces. But due to whatever hell broke loose over there because of melon husk, I thought I should use this more.

Anyway, hello everyone! My name is LA.Nightraine; I used to be Larraine, that's why I wanted people to call me Raine, but it's fine to call me LA as well! Other than a writer, I'm also a massive multi-fan. I could share a list which would be too long, but basically I fangirl majorly over select musicians, streamers, and Japanese media.

Musicians include Taylor Swift (I've been a Swiftie for more than a decade!), 5 Seconds of Summer, GRANRODEO, and Owl City to name a few.

Streamers include Sykkuno and his friends (Amigops, OTV&F, Cleanbois, etc.), and VTubers.

As for Japanese media, I have certain anime and manga titles that I like (which change a lot, so I won't list them) as well as seiyuus/voice actors and music (mainly J-Rock but recently I've been opening up to Vocaloid).

I'm very shy and awkward with a chance of weird but I genuinely hope I can still make friends and/or be part of communities here! And I apologize for any cringe post I made/will make. orz

(to be clear, i'll still be active on twitter, but just in case the worst of hell really breaks loose over there, say for example a massive data breach in which melon husk's solution is to delete the site, i'll be here to find!)

A Spin on Soccer Anime-Initial thoughts on Blue Lock

Hello ladies, gentlemen, and all those in between from all across the multiverse! My name is Rouga and the other day I decided to check out this new anime called Blue Lock on nothing short of a whim. I just felt like watching some anime and saw a video about blue Lock in my feed, I figured I may as well see what it's about. This won't be a review post really as much as it will be just a short little discussion-rumble-type thing. talking about my feelings towards the first episode.

Starting off I must stress I have no real plan of action when it comes to this. I'm just kinda going with the flow and seeing where it takes me so please do not expect the utmost professional approach because this simply is not the place for that. First, let's address the elephant in the room and that is the fact I don't have high expectations towards Blue Lock simply because the main seiyuu, as well as the director, are new faces in the industry without a lot of experience, nor can I say anything about the original manga because the author of the story, MuneyukiKaneshiro is a complete unknown for me other than the fact he is collaborating with the author of Prison school, to which I have many questions but the most important of those asking letters is definitely the "why? " After being subjected to the series due to losing a bet with a friend, I cannot place much trust in the man behind the original and if that series is the claim to fame. I frankly don't know what to think other than the other manga he made must've been even worse. My absolutely befuddled state aside let's focus on Blue Lock. The story follows Yoichi Isagi, a second-year high schooler with a frankly unhealthy passion for football. who after a loss in the qualifiers for the nationals was selected by some weird dude to be one of the 300 potential ace strikers for the new Japanese team. And if I am being 100% honest, I do not like that guy nor the whole "strikers must be egotistical pricks" mentality which the series pushes on you in the first episode. Mainly because, and I will die on this hill, you do not win a soccer match with one player. and besides, I feel like strikers are rather overrated. I find myself more interested in the midfield personally. Players who have to balance many aspects of the game. defense, offense, playmaking, control, That said. Throw some shade at a high schooler's pride and you can bet your bottom they'll do whatever the heck you want them to if you phrase it the correctly messed up way. which is what happened with the players gathered by our weird dude. Then we get a pretty entertaining even if short-lived game of soccer-tag, which they for reasons unknown played barefoot. That had to have hurt, come on now. But I bring it up due to the rather sudden change in Isagi, one which Jinpachi, the weird dude-coach-guy really liked, which makes me dislike it more, going from his creed of "football is played as an 11-man team" to "I will be the bestest of the soccer guys and I don't need anyone else." That to me felt way too sudden and honestly, it makes me not really want the guy to succeed in his goal. Altho maybe the second episode will give me more to think about and something to change my perspective. Don't get me wrong the premise of Blue Lock is at its core interesting to me however, it needs a good execution, otherwise, it'll become another mediocre series with no solid direction or themes besides "Here's 300 egotistical teens." and while that could be fun for a comedy. According to my best informed of searches, Blue Lock is not a comedy. That being said I'm very open to being pleasantly surprised by this here show even if my hopes are not that high, sans the strange breath steam effect being almost omnipresent the series does look good and the actors, even the freshies are doing a decent job so far and as much as I absolutely dog on Jinpachi his character does have me interested simply because of how much of an absolute bunglenut he is.
