A wise man once wrote:
“The beauty of daily things can be opening your eyes in the morning to check if you were checked upon, can be a date with serendipity, musingly unattended routine, a dance leading slowly and gently into that euphoric contentment. The beauty of daily things is when you close the day on a voice “shall we repeat?””
Yes …
Love is deepened …
and intimacy is strengthened …
by the beauty of the daily little things !!

Aysarth’s Garden Plant Gussy Up Revisited
Tumblr media
I’m a big fan of everything Aysarth made and shared over the years. And as you’ve probably noticed, I just love plants and gardens AND replacements so I couldn’t ignore their wonderful Garden Plant Gussy Up mod. But since I started making cc for Sims, I wanted to apply everything I’ve learned to make this replacement even more beautiful.
So, with permission from Aysarth I’m sharing my edits 😋
Again, all credit for this replacement goes to Aysarth, I just made some cosmetic changes to the tremendous and incredible work they've done.
What I did:
- replaced almost all plants’ textures and adjusted mapping;
- replaced ground “hill” fertilized and unfertilized texture with the same Maxis one but of higher detail;
- deleted weeds texture inside all packages as it was redundant;
- fixed meshes on some plants that contained invisible Maxis poles;
- fixed and retextured pole bean pole, now it’s the same in all plant stages, doesn’t move around with each new stage and has no gap on the upper part in grown state;
- fixed pole bean plant alignement in all states so that it looked more like the same plant but growing.

I HIGHLY recommend using this mod by @lamare-sims alongside this replacement to block the clicking option on the ground outside the plant itself.
If you were already using Aysarth's original plants you'll have to delete them before using mine. Also please read the description on the original mod's page if you've never used it before as it contains important info.
Just like in Aysarth’s mod, all plants are separated so you can choose which ones you’d like to have replaced (but I recommend keeping all of them for coherency 😉).
Compressed, clearly labelled, picture included.

I thought I'd use Solarpunk Action Week as an excuse to start reducing our diet's reliance on the top four of the ten staple crops--maize, rice, wheat, potatoes, cassava, soybeans, sweet potatoes, yams, sorghum, and plantain--that humanity is overly reliant upon.
I cooked up some amaranth to go with a lentil-tomato-feta salad and braised collard greens. The little pile of nutty amaranth was viewed initially with skepticism, but the ultimate verdict was two thumbs up.
In the future, I'll try to set aside one or two days a week where we eat amaranth or quinoa instead of rice, wheat, potatoes, or even sweet potatoes as our carb.

9/25/23 ~ Since being in school, I’ve learned a little more about cover crops. I ordered this book called Gardening with Grains by Brie Arthur and I am really enjoying it so far. So I may or may not have ordered barley & hard wheat seeds 👀😅😁 Not only are the good for your soil, but they are pretty added into your landscape even mixed with ornamentals. I have started a container of Barley (yes, I’m doing some in a container) so far, but also going to plant some in a little patch or patches in my yard. I just got my wheat in today, so I haven’t planted any of it yet.
What am I going to do with them when they are ready to harvest? I don’t know 😂 Maybe I’ll have enough Barley and Wheat to try and make a small batch of my own home brew 🍻 Or maybe I’ll let them dry out and use them in little floral arrangements.
Have any of you tried to grow or do grow any grains?

Homesteading level up: pizza from scratch. Homemade crust, sauce from homegrown tomatoes and basil, and bacon from a home raised pig (not our home, but still.)
It’s been an excruciatingly slow start, but it feels like we’re finally starting to get somewhere.

our friends gave us a rooted cutting off their cherry tree but I must have misinterpreted exactly what that meant -> driving home in a thunderstorm with a 6’ flowering cherry sapling sticking out my front window
