Last week, I finally remembered these two OCs I had made for LOK back in like, 2020, 2021?

Anyways, meet Yinuo and Kaoko!

Kaoko, the younger one, is a bit like Toph. She is blind, and an earth bender but that's all. She is a fairly calm child but still very capable though. Also, she can sense spirit stuff. I would explain more but I think I'll let you guys figure out how that would work.

Yinuo is the older one of the two, and a combustion bender :) She can be quite impulsive at times but she's a fun person to be around. She and Kaoko are siblings! Not biologically tho. Might explain at some point, who knows.

Some Friendships Transcend Lifetimes

A few months ago I posed the question, "What if General Iroh II from Legend of Korra had a dragon like Zuko or Roku?"

Except one never really "has" a dragon, do they? It's a friendship, a partnership founded on a lifetime of love and deep respect that's strong enough to weather every season. Maybe longer. I hope so.

Thank you to the amazing @it-is-sooz-again for breathing life into this vision of the lightning dragon Mewaku and her human, Iroh II. Definitely zoom in for all the exquisite details.

More about Mewaku and Iroh here. I doubt this will be the last you hear of them, either.

Like all of my more recent OCs that are overtly based upon myself, Anouk cannot speak. (You know, because neither can I anymore.) So she uses sign language. Tenzin learned a little bit of Southern Water Tribe Sign Language from his uncle Sokka, who sometimes used it during hunting excursions. He's a little rusty, but he gets the gist of it.

This might just be me descending into oc brainrot again, but I'm becoming a little obsessed with the idea of cultural differences between Republic City Fire Nationals and those from the mainland. Like, hairstyles alone could become such a potential source of confusion. Republic City girls would show up in the Fire Nation capital with their short, stylish pin waves and become the subject of whispers about what they might have done to dishonor themselves. And average Fire Nationals would arrive in downtown Republic City with pristine topknots and get mistaken for military personnel. And it would go so much further than hair. There would be differences in foods, clothing, manners—everything from how to signal an engagement to how to settle a dispute. I imagine there would be so much curiosity (and perhaps a little disdain/paternalism on the part of the mainland Fire Nationals) between the two groups.

Imagmi is a fire mage, but sincerely dislikes his magic. The girl is happy with her character, calm and without emotion, but she treats her loved ones with trepidation and strong love. He lives in the southern city of the water people, tries to help the locals in any way he can and sometimes entertains children by showing performances of blue fire and lightning. Keeps a stampede with game , helps hunters of the people to go hunting and fishing.

Mother is a water magician, father is a fire magician. My father did not like his magic because under its banner the people of fire were being carried into the world of house, which he renounced and hid in the northern city of the people of water, completely ignoring his magic. There he met a local girl and soon they had a daughter. After some time, the father was taken away by the fire nation and killed, destroying their house along the way. It was after that incident that Imagmi renounced the scarlet fire, gentle to associate herself in any way with the red color of blood and house.

She has a short haircut, but wears one long strand in honor of her father. She mainly uses only blue flames and lightning, as a result of which she has honed these skills to perfection

Usually dragons are good navigators and are guided by both intelligence and a powerful sense of smell. They can be used to track people or objects. Mewaku, however, isn't. She knows what General Iroh smells like and can usually find him if he's close, but since Iroh himself is a good navigator she never really developed the skill as taught by other dragons. As a result she'll sometimes get lost, especially as a young dragon. When she realizes she's lost she'll sit in the middle of whatever field or village square she's gone to and cry until Iroh comes to collect her. Zuko says he's spoiling her by not making her find her way back but Iroh just stuffs her back in his jacket and takes her home.

I dunno, I just like the idea of this little bitty dragon going one room too far at United Forces headquarters and then she looks around and doesn't see Iroh and sniffs and then curls up in a little dragon puddle and whines pitifully until some totally over it sergeant is like "will somebody please fetch General Iroh?" and so Iroh is pulled out of whatever important meeting he is in to come rescue his sad dragon from the horrors of the staff lounge.

Anyway then I had to draw it.

So I guess I've made another airbender OC.

I got to wondering how a nonbender from the Fire Nation might react to becoming an airbender. Would they be apprehensive of receiving such a gift considering the Fire Nation's history with the Air Nomads?

This is Miyuki. She is from the capital of the Fire Nation. She's a nonbender from the streets, so she knows how to handle herself in a scrape. Miyuki has jet black hair, very pale skin, and heterochromia with a yellow left eye and red right eye. And she is very into women.

Now Miyuki is fully aware of the Air Nomad Genocide of Sozin's era, which is why she feels it's totally inappropriate and unjust for someone from the Fire Nation to receive the gift of airbending from the spirits. In fact she feels incredibly guilty about becoming an airbender. Why would the spirits do this? Is there a reason? It doesn't make any sense! But who is she to question the wisdom of the spirits?

It was only after she learned that the Avatar herself was dating a woman from the Fire Nation that Miyuki took a chance and traveled to Air Temple Island to introduce herself as one of the new airbenders. She had no idea what to expect, and her heart was in her throat.
